<— SURPRISE BETH FLYNN BIKERS PRE-ORDER that just went up and is coming out THIS month… and I know SO many here went crazy for the first two books (bikers, and kidnapping, and love triangle and OMG… just crazy, dark and gritty!!!!)
Anyway. SURPRISE! βΒ A Gift of Time (The Nine Minutes Trilogy Book 3)Β π (oh and here’s theΒ Nine Minutes Trilogy Reading Order)
P.S.Β Today is the last day to enter to win a white Kindle Paperwhite loaded with ebook faves fromΒ Β Maryseβs Book BlogΒ (<— that’s me!! :D),Β Natasha is a Book Junkie,Β Vilmaβs Book Blog,Β The Rock Stars of Romance,Β Angie & Jessicaβs Dreamy Reads, andΒ Shh Moms Reading! Good luck!Β ββββββββ
Also this Friday is gearing us up for a great reading weekend, ’cause I just found us some goodies (and am adding more as we speak).
Look what we found!Β (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):
Jellicoe RoadΒ byΒ Melina Marchetta <—Β bev found us this one super-bargain priced, and it’s a HUGE hit with so many readers!
bev: Jellicoe Road is 1.99. It is FANTASTIC!
Amy:Β It took me until about 40% of Jellicoe Road to be *completely* hooked. Donβt get me wrong, I was enjoying it up until that point (once I got a feel for the setting and the βwhatβs whatβ) but at 40% I was totally consumed by it and HAD to know what had happened. And when I found outβ¦oh man. Heart. Ache.
Grace: Bev and Amy: Jellicoe Road! Beautiful. Just beautiful! I was crying about wanting more deep feels after finishing Bounty and you called it Bev. I was so completely wrong in what I thought the story was going to be about when I started reading it. I guess it was the way the book description goes right into the war games aspect so I was essentially imagining a dystopian type book in the back of my mind, but itβs so NOT that. Itβs a beautiful, happy, sometimes very sad but hugely life affirming journey of personal growth and discovery made so much more challenging by loss and heartache and secrets she has no control over. The war games are comic relief. I loved it. Iβm so glad I read it. It was worth waiting out all the questions hanging over everything in the beginning to get to where it ended. I wish there was a another book set later revisiting everyone!
Tasha:Β Bev, Amy, and whoever else recommended Jellicoe Road- I just finished it only minutes ago and had to come here first and rave and thank you!!! Such an amazing, amazing book! It had absolutely everything I love in a book, and Iβm not ready to say good bye yetβ¦It had humor, strong characters, fighting, romance, mystery, and heart. GAH, the feels! And honestly I wasnβt confused for very long at all and really got into it pretty early on, even though I was afraid of it before ever really getting into it, which is great.Β
Β This one is for sure going on my list of all time favorites so again, Thank you!!Β
- Full TiltΒ by Emma Scott <—Β Marion loved this one as much as I did!!!
Marion: “Oh wow!!!I’m emotionally wrecked!!! Full Tilt by Emma Scott defiantly goes on the List of Ugly Cry books. I love it when authors can wring out such strong reactions from us. 5 stars!”
Maryse:Β Β HECK YES!!!! My latest favorite!!!!!! π
Amy: Favorite read for Juneβ¦I would have to double check what all I read, but first one that comes to mind is Full Tilt. Yeah, I know, I griped about the prologue but how could I give it less than 5 stars??Β https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_tu-IGnL10cΒ Listen to it, read the lyrics while it plays, think of Full Tilt, and if you donβt lose your sh!t then Iβll make you crushed watermelon martinis this evening. Heck, Iβll make βem anyways. *snort*
Traci:Β Finished Full Tilt…definitely an ugly cryΒ can’t stop thinking about it!!
Jean:Β I read Full Tilt last week and absolutely loved it, even with all the snotty tears!
Willing Victim: RemasteredΒ by Cara McKenna <— CARA MCKENNA RISQUΓ AWESOMENESS ALERT!!!! This is one of my favorite daring/risque/forbidden read and I FELL HARD for it. This was YEARS ago, and I still think of it often and fondly and look for that spark (and that cringe-worthy OMG I CAN’T LOOK BUT I’M LOOKING fun!!!) The author just re-released this one, with a new cover and all! (my review)
- The ContractΒ byΒ Melanie Moreland <— BULLY ALERT! Amena recommends this one for bully-romance fans! “try The Contract by Melanie Moreland. I loved the bullying in itΒ
” Oh yes, I’ve read something like this before and I LOVED it… so… consider me intrigued! “Katharine Elliott works under Richard as his PA. She despises him and his questionable ethics, but endures all the garbage he sends her way, because she needs the job. Her end goal is far more important than the daily abuse and demands she tolerates from her nasty tyrant of a boss.Β Until the day, he asks her for something she never expected…“
Forget (Changing Colors Book 1)Β by N.A. Alcon <— BLINDSIDING ROCK STAR ALERT!Β Allison and Lisa LOVED the series and this one blindsided Grace BIG time!
Allison: I read a book a LOOOOONG time ago (OK a couple of months) that I absolutely LOVED but didnβt recommend because it ended on a HUGE cliffhanger. FINALLY the second book was just released this week and I read it in 2 days. Β The first one isΒ ForgetΒ and the second one isΒ BlurΒ and both are written by NA Alcorn.
They tell the story of Brooke, a beautiful woman who grew up with her younger sister in a neglectful home (parents are drug addicts) until her grandmother gets custody of them. She adores her grandmother, who has recently died. She is going on a trip to Paris for one month that her grandmother arranged for her because when her grandmother was young, she fell in love in Paris.
there Brooke meets Dylan. Total HOTTIE and musician. Heβs funny and kind and they both love music SO much. If you are a music fan you will LOVE this series, because music is integral to the story. Throughout her month in Paris Brooke drops hints at secrets that she is hiding. She even hides her occupation from Dylan (sheβs a well known record producer). But as time goes on and she falls deeper in love with him . . . . itβs harder to keep everything under wraps.
When the first book ended . . . . I. Almost. Died.
The second book was just as good. i love this couple so much! Their rapport, their chemistry, they way they communicate through music, the hot sex, itβs all there and more! I cried during BOTH books!
Lisa: do I have a great rocker story for you… Just finished Forget and Blur from NA Alcorn and I have to say the H is right up there with Kellan from Thoughtless. Book 2 has very similar feels, messy triangle, angst, lots of awesome use of music and lyrics and heart shattering song dedications. Plus he whispers sweet and dirty in her ear in French. And his manwhore brother could rival Griffin. Book one is a CH but no issue because the story finishes with book 2. Amazeballs. π
Grace: Itβs N.A. Alcornβs β Forget. I thought it was an amusing Rock and Roll story, but I got blindsided! Iβm all snuggled in bed right now and I need to make a decision about the second book like RIGHT NOW! OMG! What if Lisa doesnβt check in here! I need to know that Iβm not going to end up wanting to go postal because there were scary hints of not good story direction possibilities! This book was NOT supposed to mess with my head!
Jean:Β Forget and Blur!!!!!! OMG, I devoured them this week! LOVED! (Especially the second book)! Totally gave me the βThoughtless feelsββ¦..not the same type of storyline, but definitely the feels! Thanks Grace and Lisa!
The Ones That Got Away: A Collection of Lost Fish Tales (The Fish Tales Book 4)Β byΒ Suanne LaqueurΒ <—Β JUST WENT LIVE!! The author gives us an inside look into this series that so many of us loved like crazy! Deleted scenes, βthe beginningsβ of the story and when she first started writing itβ¦ all sorts of goodies for us βFishβ fans.
R. Renee: Oh godβ¦more Fish Tales. You were so right when you said βbig.β How has everyone not read this yet?? Iβm on book 2 and having to do actual chores instead of read this weekend is killing me!!
- The Girl Who StayedΒ byΒ Tanya Anne Crosby <—Β HER FATHER WAS CRUEL, HER MOTHER CLOSED OFF & HER SISTER DISAPPEARED. NOW EVERYONE IS GONE & SHE HAS TO SELL THE HOUSE... “…now that her parents are gone, Zoe needs to return to the house, to close it down and prepare it for sale. She intends to get this done as quickly as possible and get on with her life, even though that life seems clouded by her past, both distant and recent. But what she discovers when she gets there is far beyond her imagining and will change her in profound ways…” bargain priced!
- Runaway Vampire: An Argeneau Novel (Argeneau Vampire)Β by Lynsay Sands <— LYNSAY SANDS NAKED VAMPIRE CLAIMS HER AS HIS MATE ALERT!Β Back in my strictly paranormal romance days, I DEVOURED this series and loved every one of ’em. This one’s on super-sale! “The naked, injured, insanely gorgeous younger man who clambered into her RV insists they belong together. If Mary wasnβt feeling their incredible connection in every inch of her being, she wouldnβt believe it…“
- Full-Time FatherΒ byΒ Susan Mallery <— RECLUSIVE MILLIONAIRE FINDS OUT HE’S A FATHER ALERT! “After Erin Ridgway’s sister dies in childbirth, Erin promises herself she’ll do everything she can for her sister’s baby, and that includes finding the baby’s father. When she finally meets the reclusive Parker, she wants to give him the chance to know his daughter, but what could a lonely millionaire know about raising a little girl?“
The Beast And MeΒ byΒ D. S. WrightsΒ <—Β OH MY!!! DARK READ ALERT!!Β This one gave me a blurb-jolt indeed!!!!! (and bargain priced, today)!
“Meg was abducted. For four days she had nothing to keep herself sane, until she promised to be obedient. In return, she received a diary, not knowing which terrors she would be writing down soon. Β Because Meg has been taken to this unknown place for one purpose only: to support her abductors in ‘socializing’ one of their subjects.
Ten, as they call him, seems to be far more than a primitive beast, fighting battles of his very own. Meg soon realizes that she is the only one able to tame him…”
- Knox: (A Sexy Bastard Novel)Β byΒ Eve Jagger <— BEST FRIEND’S LITTLE SISTER ALERT! “We swore weβd stay away from each other.Β Our secret could destroy everything…” bargain priced!!
Grinder (Seattle Sharks Book 1)Β byΒ Samantha WhiskeyΒ <— HOCKEY PLAYER & SHE’S HIS NANNY ALERT! This one is bargain priced too! “Weβve been friends since we were kids, and I love his daughter like sheβs my own, so whatβs the easiest solution to help Gage out? Move in and be his live-in nanny for the season. As far as she goes, the arrangement is perfect. But her drop-dead-sexy father? Frustrating on every possible level…”
- His Fantasy Girl (Things To Do Before You Die)Β byΒ Nina CroftΒ <—Β OH YES!!! I LOVE HOW THIS BLURB ENDS!!! “Logan might still be the sexiest man Abigail has ever seen, but a dirty-talking, tattooed, ex-con is the last thing she needs in her perfect life. He claims she’s his fantasy girl, but what he doesn’t know is she’s also the mother of his ten-year old daughter…” <— OOMPH!!!! And bargain priced!
- Loving You Is EasyΒ byΒ Wendy S. MarcusΒ <—Β TATTOOED MILITARY HERO & HIS POLITICIAN’S DAUGHTER PENPAL…Β Β (super bargain priced!!) “When corresponding with sweet, classy Brooke, Shane Develen instinctively hides his commando tattoos and blue-collar roots–and he can tell that she’s hiding something, too. But Shane knows he’s gained her trust when Brooke gives him a blisteringly sexy photo. Then he’s injured in an ambush and a fellow soldier posts the snapshot online. Overnight, Brooke’s reputation turns to ashes…“
TightΒ by Alessandra Torre <— ALESSANDRA TORREΒ ROMANCE PSYCH-THRILLER AWESOMENESS ALERT! Grey just discovered one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES!!!
Grey: Guess whatβ¦ another 5 star read for me! Tight by Alessandra Torreβ¦ oh man! I know, I know, most of you read it last year and I didnβt. It was on my spreadsheet. Yes. I said spreadsheet. He was her lover–and her child’s father–until she disappeared seven months ago.” (bargain priced today!!)
Our Song by Dani Atkins <— Kristi found us this one (but I think it’s UK and Australia only?) *sigh* BUT!! We CAN get it used on Amazon U.S. in paperback format βΒ (Our Song)…

A Gift of Time (The Nine Minutes Trilogy Book 3)Β byΒ Beth Flynn – July 19th 2016 <— OMG.Β Look what’s up for preorder and coming out THIS month!!! It can be read as a standalone, but you really would benefit from reading the first two books. These characters are integral in the entire series. Here’s theΒ Nine Minutes Trilogy Reading Order.
Lisa:Β Thank you for posting this as I didn’t know about book 3. Nine Minutes is one of my favorite series. (And I was lucky enough to meet the author last year and have signed copies of book 1 & 2.) Cannot wait to continue this story.
I read Full Tilt last week and absolutely loved it, even with all the snotty tears!
Forget and Blur!!!!!! OMG, I devoured them this week! LOVED! (Especially the second book)! Totally gave me the “Thoughtless feels”…..not the same type of storyline, but definitely the feels! Thanks Grace and Lisa!
YAY Jean!!!
I added your reactions above. π
Wow…..I have been waiting for the last book to come out of the “Nine Minutes” trilogy by Beth Flynn. The first two books were fantastic, as always thanks Maryse for keeping us updated.
My pleasure LisaKay!!!
In fact, I’m about to put up the series reading order post right now. π
Guess what… another 5 star read for me! Tight by Alessandra Torre… oh man! I know, I know, most of you read it last year and I didn’t. It was on my spreadsheet. Yes. I said spreadsheet. I’m a nerd like that. But girls, seriously. So. Freaking. Amazeballs. If you haven’t read it. READ IT!!! I’ve had 3, count them THREE, 5 star reads this week! Alessandra Torre writes some seriously hot smut too… #justsayin… *it’sFriday*
I loved Tight!! That’s awesome Grey!
I loved Tight too Grey! You need to listen to us! I have spreadsheets too…..I need them!
Maryse, you’ve seriously need to read Forget and Blur! They are so right up your alley!
Went back in my TBR (my spreadsheet….lol) and started reading Against the Ropes which I downloaded 3 years ago!
I use spreadsheetsome for EVERYTHING! but never thought of it for books!!!
My autocorrect is drunk if you’re wondering.
I’m adding it Grey ’cause it was one of my FAVS too!!! π
At least it’s not possessed by Shakespeare.
Finished two books last night. Struck by the Record was really good. It kept me smiling and still gave me full angst even though it was mostly male POV (which I’m not fond of outside of fantasy or ya) This one just worked. He had me grinning at his thoughts.
The read the short story that was talked about, The Devil by Kim Jones. I was lost. I think I’m supposed to read something else prior. Not lost like totally clueless, but more, why do I care about these two? Yeah, I think something else should have been first. :/
So Robin how is the writers retreat going? And yes girl, yes… This spreadsheet I made was from our top 2015 lists that we all posted here on the blog at the beginning of the year. I’ve color coded it by what I’ve read and everything. Like I said…nerd.
Jean, as soon as I’m done with this Arc I’m reading I’m going to read Forget, I promise!
Maryse, girl, You and I are book twins at heart I swear! LOL!
I love another geek that uses spreadsheets!!!! I am on a beach vacation reading binge . . . Sadly vacation is almost over. I loved “Big Rock” and “Mr. O” by Lauren Blakely, “Room Hate” by Penelope Ward, “Stanton Bliss” by TL Swan, and am trying not to get too emotionally drained by “Full Tilt” by Emma Scott. I’m not sure what’s up next . . . I have too many to pick from! Tight? WHat Alice Forgot? Sea of Tranquility? The Wall of Winnipeg and Me? Virgins? The Promise of Stardust? That’s just scratching the tip of my book iceberg!
I’m still reading The Boss serial. I clicked the samples of Knox and Grinder.
I LOVED Tight too.
Going to make the watermelon martini Amy made last week. Just have to find the “recipe” in previous comments.
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me …Sharon! Awesome slow burn….
Sharon, Sea of Tranquility is an old favorite on here.
But R, is Fabi drunk?
Maryse ‘ s sister wrote a review.
I don’t think I’ve tried that series yet.
Has anyone read Silent Run?!?! I am SO intrigued….
Well crude…call me what you will….
R – did you find Fabi?!?
YOU LOST FABI???
Love, love, LOVE spreadsheets!!!
Gah, Tight was SUCH a good read. Definitely a 5-star read from what I remember. I’d have to check my spreadsheet. π
Sharon!!! Sea of Tranquility. Sea. Of. Tranquility. The Promise of Stardust is a great one as well…so heartbreaking with a very unique story line. Go in blind because it’s best when you don’t know which way it will go. π
Cheryl…it’s one part vodka to one part Sprite with as much or as little crushed watermelon as you want in it. BUT…I used two parts vodka to one part Sprite. Just because I could. π
Sh!t I forgot about SoT… I have to add that to my short list…
So, my nephew is traveling tonight to Australia to work as a volunteer/ intern for a wildlife conserve. He adores animals, and wants to work with them after college, so it’s all exciting. Any Australians here heard of Australia Walkabout Park in Calga? (Yeah, I had to look it up) π
Amy, works for me. No such thing as too much vodka. π
Cause I know it’s everyone’s favorite look, heh.
https://www.heroesandheartbreakers.com/blogs/2016/07/friday-beefcake-a-love-letter-to-the-man-bun
I’m being swayed into Sea of Tranquility!
A lot of Colleen Masters’s books are $.99, down from $2.99. I think 9 out of 16 of her books are $.99, and one is free.
Watching the news. Dallas, just breaks my heart.
Bev, just no! Only Jason Mamoa can do that, and that is because of GoT, and NO OTHER REASON. *shudders* Worse is when I see it, I think, yeah, you should cut your hair. It would look better.
The only thing that bothers me is that a couple look like they need to wash their hair. A bit too oily looking.
I’m here!! sorry!! Yes I found her skinny dipping in the Comal River!
…and now we’re about to watch DDD – for the visiting authors’ inspiration of course
R and Fabi…sounds like a great start to a wild weekend….
Fabi was skinny dipping?????
NOT
omg as if
Yeeees Fast Connection on monday! I loved Strong Signal. Second Best book I read this year
Fabi, you know you were out there doing the back stroke.
Ok, what’s DDD?
As hot and humid as it’s been here, skinnny dippin’ sounds so good!
Silent Run, Our Song, and Forget (Kellen feels?! Mine!! :D)
DDD is a bra size last I checked?? *munches popcorn*
Debbie Does Dallas.
I take my shoes off for a minute …
skinny dipping *snort*
DDD is Debbie Does Dallas and they really did play it! While listening to sex scenes they wrote read by a stuffy English professor accent. Hilarious!
Don’t be telling tales Fabi…you know you were streaking!
I finished Full Tilt on my drive home. I am so grateful I was in a car with my husband, son and nephew. This is the only reason I didn’t have the ugliest book cry ever. I really need book 2 now. I think I need a polar opposite book now. Maybe Prince with Benefits.
I can’t help it, watching DDD just sounds awkward to me, lol.
lol Bev. It was a huge projection on the side of the house broken up by angles and plants and windows, etc. I also had a huge tree branch in my way. We could barely make out the movie but it was so perfect with the sex scene readings. We were all dying laughing at the stuffy accent reading those scenes. Awesomeness!
*claps hands* I totally knew that I was just egging you on, come on, more more more!!!
I had totally squirreled from my little tbr to start Bounty felt like some KA. Just finished this weekend, lol. *sigh*
I used to love her books so much, but maybe not as much now? Though I know I’ll read Wood’s book when it comes out.
Anyway, now back to Poison Princess and I’m just in the right mood for some PNR YA.
I started Forget… And I have a pretzelly tummy feeling just from starting this letter from her grandmother that this book is going to wreck me. Oh man… Godiva or Moscato…. The rough decisions… Jean, I’m thinking you’re going to owe me both!
Grey… Rreeeeead it.
Hangin’ out in Seattle makes me want to do a Fifty Shades re-read. Or even a re-read of EIT…at least the ones that took place here. π
Why are you in Seattle?
How fun, Amy.
And here I was just happy when I realized I was having a good hair day, lol
I nearly spit out my Corona bev!!
Tessa…we live about an hour away from Seattle and we are spending the day here. π
Bev, a good hair day is ALWAYS a reason to be happy!! π
OMG Bev, I wish we could post pictures here (actually, that probably not a good idea…that could QUICKLY get out of hand *snort*) because I just found a life-size standee of Sherlock!!!
R – can you pass me one of those Corona’s with an extra slice of lime please?
Thinking I need something…jumping back in forth between books trying to find the ONE that draws me in…..
Amy I would so re-read FSG…heck, I would wander around the city LOOKING for him!
Amy. It. Is. A. SIGN.
DO NOT listen to the sound of Maryse ‘ s silence. Go home and watch it.
Right now.
Do not ignore signs.
Would get out of hand.
You know Fabi would be posting nude selfies.
DG…catch!!! Extra salt and lime!!!
Alright Amy I’ve been sitting here all day… I’m usually pretty good at these… But EIT?
Yep Forget… Totally worked for me. Forging right straight ahead with Blur, because wow… I have a feeling this one I just started is going to be pretty good too… Starting out good anyway
Whoa. WTF happened there with my last comment. LOL. I hit refresh and boom… Posted bahahaha. Anyway. Forget was great. Now I’m going to read Blur.
How did I end up with a reputation? *scratches head*
Speaking of pics – I WISH y’all could have seen last night’s themed dinner. Each night is dedicated to an author’s book with the book on an easel, the table set with the cover color scheme and decorated with pertinent scene themes. AMAZING!!! OH and I forgot to mention the dedicated playlist in the background. Gah! You guys! This is a reader/writer dream. The conversation!!!
What books Fabi?
Grey, Experiment in Terror.
Last night was Never Stop Falling by Ashley Drew. Look at that cover and imagine the table setting. π
Bev, I have Experiment in Terror in my tbr. Have you read it?
WOW. That does sound amazing Fabi. So jealous!!
Grey- Moscato and Godiva!! π
I’m currently reading one that just came out this month. The Temporary Agent by Daniel Judsen. I not far along yet but it’s really really good so far.
I posted a couple of pics from last night’s dinner here! https://www.robinhillwrites.com/retreat.html
I’ll post tonight’s dinner later. Got a late start today!
Amy, why did I think you lived in New Mexico instead of Washington?
Very nice R! The corona was awesome…thanks!
So I finally settled in with a book from the list above …Runaway Vampire…very early in…kinda intrigued with the whole he appears younger than her and she is way, way older than the norm for most romance books I have ever read…..I have a theory about how this is going to work…be interesting to see if I am right…..
I hate being startled. Quietly reading and my phone makes a sound and I jump.
Maryse thanks for adding Forget/Blur to the reader recommendations. These books have become the ones I nag friends to read. You know…..like Bev and Sherlock.
So glad a few of you have jumped on board.
Robin I am envious I live sooooo far away from the dinner conversation Im sure you all had. Looked like fun.
Sorry Bev…you don’t nag ….that’s just me…you gently persuade.
Lol.
I don’t think there is anything subtle or gentle about it.
I’ve tried THREE different books this week, all seem good enough to finish but just not holding my attention so now I’m on “Forget” by N.A. Alcorn.
Those mini reviews up there look just TOO good to not read it now. π
Yay. Maryse!!!! Hope you get those Thoughtless feels too.
We had a blast Lisa! From now on it will be the last weekend in July. Plan early!! I’ll post dinner table pics soon.
I’m reading Blur, I am loving it even more than Forget!!!
Grey! I felt the same way! Blur is even better! So happy to see Maryse jumping in too!
R, that looks so relaxing and inviting! Where are you?
Ok. I’m almost done with Poison Princess. I’m conflicted about how I feel. Evie, can freaking drive me nuts. I’ve only read a few of KC’s books but have noticed her heroines can be hit or miss with me. I love that they do not let the H bulldoze them but sometimes instead of strength it reads like stubbornness and spite. Hmm. If only they could mix with KA heroines who go too far the other way and sometimes bend over backwards too often or always admit they are wrong after a talking to.
Anyway, the premise is great, vibrant secondary characters, and a good slow burn. And only her pov–cause some of you love that. But certain areas could progress a bit faster to move the story along.
Also, this is going to be a triangle, isn’t it? So, Tessa or Michelle, how many books? I thought a trilogy but looks like more.
I’m going to read the next book, already have it lined up, probably the whole series but not back to back.
I’m very curious about who & what everyone is. I want to meet more of the Arcana, and is Jack—something?
And there is a ramble for you.
Hello everybody!! *** waving *** I’ve been in kind of a book funk lately. Nothing is hitting the mark, and I know they should be, but they aren’t. I haven’t even finished Full Tilt, and I know that one should do it for me, right? But I keep walking away. I FINALLY finished Playing with Monsters… (insert growling noises here)… should have know that just like her Fae Chronicles series, this will be a series, so there is no HEA or anything, just a set up for the next book (insert louder growling noises here). I liked it. Didn’t rock my world. So….. I decided to go on the hunt for something else. This is what I found:
Of Another Dimension, by J. Lynn. Okay okay…. get this. She is swept to another dimension and an angry bellowing red demon is chasing her. Yipee. Some of my favorite books involve being swept away and falling for some beast. And it sounds kind of funny-sexy so I am crossing my fingers that this one gets me out of my funk.
Bev – I have TRIED to read Poison Princess so many times and I always wall away. Have no clue why. I adore Kresley Cole and used to gobble up her books. But just like KA, they don’t seem to grab me anymore. Can’t eat the same thing for dinner every day either, just need some variety.
MichelleS oooh it’s always fun to be chased by a book-beast in another dimension. Tee hee!! π
IN BOOKS. Always and only in books.
Finished. I’ll definitely be reading the second one.
MichelleS, hate when I start & put down a lot of books in a row.
It’s weird with KA. I did enjoy Sebring & Bounty. ….but I think she needs to shake it up a bit. Edit out some of the repetitive conversations & sex scenes. Also, I can totally predict how any problem is going to end. Usually with the H not really apologizing and the h not needing him to cause she decides he was right all along. And if separated at all she goes numb and loses any sort of light and he just keeps on doing what he was doing. On the other hand the predictability is why she is a comfort read.
I am SO falling in love with The Five Stages of Falling in Love. The h’s honesty with her grief and anger, loving her children and yet feeling overwhelmed and almost resentful about having to raise them alone (even though WE know the resentment is just a manifestation of her grief), her conflicted feelings about her feelings toward Ben *swoony sigh*…all of it is so raw and emotional and sweet and REAL.
And YAY Maryse!!! I plan on starting Forget when I finish TFSoFiL.
I start clinicals tomorrow and I am soooooo nervous so not sure how much reading I’ll get in today worh my tummy being all twisty (and not in the way I like it) but I’m going to try! π
Amy I AM LOVING Forget. It’s totally from her POV (at least so far and I’m almost halfway through), and it’s “one of ours” for sure. And by “ours” I mean all of us here…
Oops. Nevermind. His POV just kicked in. *sigh* I wish not…
But it’s still good so I shall continue reading. π
MichelleS…we feel ya. We so feel ya. π
Yay Maryse! I knew you would love it! Wait until you get to Blur! Amy was supposed to BR with me, but I don’t know what happened there.
Amy, I have had FSOFIL for soooo long and my friends have begged me to read it. Maybe I’ll move it up on my list! Good luck tomorrow!
First day jitters suck. And a clinical must be nerve racking, it’s an important & serious field you’re stepping into. But you’ll rock it. Just have to get that first day out of the way.
Oooooh, see how Jean just slides that BR reminder in there? And she says I bully—-ha.
Nice little BR jab there, Jean. Real nice.
*pbltttttt!!*
What’s a BR?
Er… THAT was what I was “saying” to myself when I’d see BR. But I didn’t know we planned a BR this weekend? Did we? *gasp*!!
Buddy Read.
“what’s a BR?”
Bahahahahaha
“Hahaha “what’s aBR!!!” Good one Maryse!
Amy, good luck. One thing I’ve learned from clinicals is to ask questions, even if you think it’s a dumb question, it probably isn’t. )
I’m excited to (finally) start Forget, Maryse! And from the reactions, it seems like it IS one of the many well-loved “our” books around here. π
Thanks Bev, that is so sweet of you to say that. Somehow having it referred to as an “internship” made me less nervous than it being called “clinicals” which for whatever reason makes it more…medically real, I guess? *snort* Articulate I am not. π
OMG…what’s a BR, she says. *shakes head and snickers*
I appreciate that, Cheryl…you’ve been there and done that so you probably know the nerves I’m feeling today!
You’re going to do AWESOME Amy!!!!! π
*gasp*
Maryse, you forgot our br. And you promised me.
Tsk. Tsk.
OMG WHAT bev? TELL ME!!!! GAH!!!!!!
*thud*
Amy, you’re gonna rock it tomorrow. No one will be able to resist your bubbly personality. I see patients melting into sugary puddles at your feet.
Awesome Amy! You’ll do great! *passing you a celebratory margarita* (but only one!!)
more pics! https://www.robinhillwrites.com/retreat.html
Remember?
You wanted to read something outside your norm?
I said, hmm.
You said, but maybe gritty
I nodded my head.
You thought, maybe a western
I said, oh, with a doctor?
Hmm, you said. A lady doctor?
Yes, I said.
What are you thinking, bev?
Sawbones, I answered
That’s it! You were excited.
I pumped my fist.
You and your sister high fived.
I like doctors, Jean said.
She raised the roof.
Tessa stuck out her tongue did devil horns.
Remember?
LOL BEV!!!!!!! I am cracking up so hard.
I high-fived over a western? I suggested maybe I wanted a western??
How many martinis did I steal that night?
*snort*
*sneaks away to look up Sawbones*
Wow… actually that looks great, bev.
Or maybe we were all just talking about coconut cake.
OMG!!! bev!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and now I need a new margarita as I just spit out mine!!!
omg Bev, if you don’t already write you need to start NOW
Hahaha bev! That was awesome!
π
OMG Bev, that was fan-f*cking-tastic!!! *raises-my-glass* woot woot!!!
Maryse, we’re all reading Forget this weekend, YAY! I’ve been out all day today, hoping I can finish Blur tonight…. SOOO good!
LOL BEV!!!!!!! Dying here!!!!
Do you still doubt us when we say you are hilarious and we love you for it???
Seriously…you are awesome. π
And thank you, ladies, for all of the encouragement and support…you guys gave me the warm and fuzzies and made my day. π
By the way, I get to join y’all with Forget!! I finished Five Stages (Jean! You have to read it!!) and I absolutely LOVED it. Honestly? I don’t have any complaints with it. None. It was just…perfect.
*sigh* Although, now Forget has some big shoes to fill. π
Amy, you’ve got this girl. Remember, always take a deep breath yourself when you’re going to poke. That’s the best advice I can give. You’re going to be amazing! <3
Yayyyy!!! I cant believe everyone is FINALLY reading forget and blur.
And Blur IS waaay more SQUEEE TWISTY TUMMY GOODNESS.
Enough shouty capitals.
Amy I loved FSoFiL too. So bittersweet.
And good luck on your placement. I’m clinical placement supervisor for 3rd year OT students here…I love it when students ask lots of questions (if you’re wondering about something be 100% certain everyone else is wondering the same thing). Clinicals are great because you see all tge students having those light bulb moments…realizing they KNOW this and CAN do this. Go girl.
Anybody seen Fabi?
Amy – what clinicals are you doing? I remember doing mine (for Speech Pathology) and you just have to grin & bear it. Find the smartest person there & ask questions. Good luck. You got this!
Uh-oh. Did you lose Fabi?
MichelleS, how is the red demon treating you?
I found her!!! She’s quick!!
Bev…write a book. I want to read it.
Awwww, you GUYS!! Makin’ my heart swell with all the support. Y’all have no idea what your comments have done for me today. *happy tears and sniffles*
MichelleS…it’s an internship/clinicals program for hemodialysis. Exciting but nerve-wracking. π
I would SO read anything written by Bev.
Anything.
Even something Sherlock related.
*giggles and hides from Bev*
No, no you wouldn’t. Really no. I am just responding & reacting to you all. Totally different than creating something from nothing.
So, no Sherlock fan fiction from me.
Amy, you can hide but I do not forget.
Bev, you crack me up!! That was great!!
Amy, I have been there and quite honestly I hated the first day of my clinicals. With nerves, I felt like I always said or did something stupid. After that it was all downhill!!!
You’ll do great!! Ask questions, take deep breathes and be observant.
Amy, you will do great! Deep breathes…you have so got this!
I was so sure I was going with something different. Yet, I kept thinking about them, so went with Endless Knight.
It’s also nice to read books that have been sitting in the tbr for awhile.
Good luck today Amy… You’ll be awesome. I just know it! *huggles*
Bev – my red demon is making me laugh. It reminds me of the series that Maryse’s sister just reviewed on the blog. Over the top sexy time and eye rolling… but lots of fun nonetheless. Sometimes you just need a bodice-ripper, you know?
Yes, indeed.
Why is Prime day a work day?
I wonder what the prime sales are going to be…
An Ember in the Ashes is 2.99.
Buy It. Buy It. Buy It. Buy It.
Seriously, Buy It.
I got it bev! I got it!
Yay, Jean. π I hope you like it.
I have never done a prime sale before, so not sure what to expect. But can’t really do one this year cause work.
*shrug*
Oh well.
Oh, it was tipsy talk.
I know it has been sitting in my tbr for a bit now. I think it is supposed to be pretty gritty.
