It’s pretty normal stuff, things you’d expect…from me. Eventually, the time came when I couldn’t hide anymore—not that he’d have let me even if I tried. Before now, he never knew I was secretly watching him. Now that we see each other every day, he knows when I have a hard time looking away. It doesn’t help that I’m not the most subtle person in the world either...”

Nay April 20, 2018 at 7:01 AM

Good morning!! Happy Friday!

I’m think I want to read a couple of novellas before I get back into the Lock and Key series, so One Good Man is looking good to me!

Maryse–the way I’ve been feeling this week, I completely forgot to mention a new release:

For the Love of Luca (Chicago Syndicate, #8) by Soraya Naomi came out on Tuesday, 4/17.

Although it’s part of the series, it can still be read as a standalone because Soraya is great at re-capping so that a new reader won’t be lost.

Up until now, books 3 & 4 (which are about a different couple) were my favorites in the series. However, this one may very well have beat them out–she really brings the angst!

Nay April 20, 2018 at 7:03 AM

Keep us posted about Birthday Girl, Maryse–I’ve seen mixed reviews from my friends (but mostly really good ones).

Grey April 20, 2018 at 9:03 AM

Hey all. *Tosses all of the Friday glitter* because… As of the end of the workday I will be on Spring Break!!! Woohoo!!!

I’ll be a bit scarce for the first couple of days as I’ve got an ARC to do, but then…bliss.

A Friday deal…that is a personal fave of mine, Jezebel, is on sale for 99 pennies on the ‘zon. Cuz you know our homegirl #LarsenLurks ;-) Seriously… If you haven’t read this one… What are you waiting for???

Leslie M April 20, 2018 at 9:24 AM

*basks in the Friday glitter*

Hello everyone!! Although it is cold here, I am thankful for sun and no snow! Who wants snow in April?? (It snowed twice this week. WTH mother nature?)

No clue what to read next…

Decisions, decisions

Tasha J April 20, 2018 at 9:58 AM

Transcend Leslie!! I know you said something about your slump and stuff, but I was there too! And I am loving it! I kinda, sorta went in blind and I’m over halfway now. I don’t think you’ll have trouble. Try and make it to like 10% at first and see if it’s for you. ;)

Jean April 20, 2018 at 10:17 AM

I’m 50% into Birthday Girl. I like it so far, but not love yet. It’s a very slow burn and sometimes that annoys me.

Anyway, TGIF! Looking forward to the weekend, even though it includes washing and waxing the boat….yep, it’s that time again.

Susan April 20, 2018 at 10:22 AM

I’ve tried twice to get into Birthday Girl and I don’t know if it’s me or what but I will be anxious to see what Maryse thinks. I may try and give it a third go. I’m in a major slump right now and am dying for a good read.

Amy April 20, 2018 at 11:05 AM

Happy Friday everyone! *scoops up Grey’s glitter and tosses it in the air*

It doesn’t sound like my usual type of read, but I’m totally clicking Mr. Right-Swipe. Something about a teacher-teacher read is calling to me.

Speaking of teacher-teacher reads, I’ve been wracking my brain trying to remember a book I KNOW is sitting in my Kindle library, but I can’t remember the title. Maybe y’all can help? Not that I have a lot of detail but…

It’s about a high school teacher and a high school coach, and it sounds fun. Um, yeah…that’s all I’ve got. :?

Maryse April 20, 2018 at 11:16 AM

Susan… I can’t remember? You read The Transcend Duet right? Of course you must have!! Right? Yeah… you wouldn’t have missed that.

Maryse April 20, 2018 at 11:16 AM

YAY!!! An AMY reader question! How cool. I’ll post it. :)

Amy April 20, 2018 at 11:26 AM

I will be SO incredibly impressed (and very grateful) if anyone is able to guess the book with such little info. *giggle*

marina April 20, 2018 at 1:54 PM

Hi Maryse, I was on a quest for a funny book after Transcend/Epoch and Birthday Girl. Just need total escapism because I’m nervous for something medical coming up next week…. I picked up Road Tripped by Nicole Archer and it is hilarious.SO FUNNY. Perhaps inappropriately funny to some? But absolutely what I need right now. Not sure if you read/reviewed, didn’t search but just wanted to mention. Reminds me of Wallbanger funny. Will let you know when I’m done but I have a feeling I’m going to plough through the series. Each stand alones I think but related characters?

Tasha J April 20, 2018 at 1:58 PM

Ohmygurd!!! I just finished Transcend and I have goosebumps! Ahh, I NEED to jump into Epoch right now and I can’t cuz life is in my way. It’s gonna drive me nuts all day.

Jean April 20, 2018 at 2:03 PM

Awww Tasha. I feel your pain. You will love Epoch!

Leslie M April 20, 2018 at 2:55 PM

So funny because EVERYONE keeps rec’ing Transcend and it just doesn’t appeal to me. :( Also, I read all the spoilers on the BR.

Ugh! If Birthday Girl turns out to be a snoozer, I will be bummed!

Marina, Road Tripped sounds good.

I have Mr. Right Swipe, maybe I should try that one.

Amy April 20, 2018 at 2:56 PM

I’m loving experiencing it again through you, Tasha. ;)

Jean April 20, 2018 at 3:03 PM

Amy, I’m doing the same thing through my girlfriend Tracy….. she’s sitting next to me and every once in a while she goes “oh no”. I am loving it!

Jean April 20, 2018 at 3:04 PM

Leslie I’m kinda struggling with BG…. VERY slow burn. I’m at 50% and still waiting for something to happen!

Amy April 20, 2018 at 3:43 PM

That is hilarious, Jean! I would have so much fun watching someone in RL read it. :D

I’m still reading The Real (stupid adulting is getting in the way…boooo) and so far no angst. I’ve avoided any reviews so I’m not sure what’s going on. It’s all fun and lovey-dovey stuff. Now remember, this is Kate Stewart so either A) this is KS-lite or B) she’s about to a$$-slam me to the ground.

Something tells me it’s the latter.

Jean April 20, 2018 at 3:52 PM

“a$$-slam me to the ground”……hahaha! Good luck!

Leslie M April 20, 2018 at 4:46 PM

Oh no Jean! Slow books are the kiss of death for me.

Cheryl April 20, 2018 at 5:56 PM

TGIF!!!! I’m reading One Good Man. Wasn’t sure initially since it is set in the 70′s, but so far I’m liking it and I always love Emma Scott’s writing. *grabs kindle and glass of wine*

Tessa April 20, 2018 at 6:21 PM

I’m currently reading from Tuesday Not My Cinderella. So far, it’s cute. :) I needed that after Secondborn and Traitor Born. Those two were INTENSE.

Amy April 20, 2018 at 6:41 PM

Tessa…isn’t the author of Secondborn the same one who wrote the Premonition series? I really, REALLY enjoyed that one. Except for the names of her friends in the book…Buns and Brownie? It was like nails over a chalkboard every time they were mentioned. Obviously not enough to keep me from reading them though. *snort*

Tessa April 20, 2018 at 7:04 PM

Same! And this one is dystopian. It’s not complete yet. The next one is Rebel Born, but they are so good.

Amy April 20, 2018 at 7:11 PM

Well then…CLICK!

Tasha J April 20, 2018 at 7:37 PM

Well, gawd! Now I’m tearing up and I’m only at like 20%. Stupid hormones.

Tasha J April 20, 2018 at 7:43 PM

Really, I hardly ever cry. A few weeks ago, I slammed my hand into my daughter’s drawer on a crazy spree and there was cracked wood right at the edge on the inside, jammed it straight up my thumbnail, and I look and see blood (I’m not squeemish), but I straight freaked. All I can envision is the scene in scary/thriller movies with the nails peeling back off the fingers and I wailing. My kids are screaming and clinging to me saying “what’s wrong?! you don’t cry!!” I stopped myself soon after and looked, it wasn’t that bad, but the images!!

Tasha J April 20, 2018 at 7:49 PM

A couple of times, Griffin and Swayze have reminded me of Ally and Noah from The Notebook (the movie, I’ve not read the book). Did anyone else ever feel like that?

Cheryl April 20, 2018 at 8:25 PM

Amy, you live in Okinawa?? I thought you live in northwest- like Seattle area??

Amy April 20, 2018 at 8:59 PM

Cheryl, I used to live in Okinawa (and would go back if given the chance) and now I’m in the Pacific Northwest.

This was random, LOL! What brought it up?

JulieO April 21, 2018 at 5:36 AM

I loved Birthday Girl. No billionaires, no recluses, no weirdos, just an average man. And because he was older thank God this wasn’t a “daddy” book.

MichelleS April 21, 2018 at 8:24 AM

Birthday Girl sounds all “forbidenny”, and it’s KU, so CLICK!

I’m still reading The Boy & His Ribbon. Definitely a unique plotline. I’m strangely hooked.

Supposed to rain & have thunderstorms ALL DAY here in North Texas. Good reading weather!

Tasha J April 21, 2018 at 9:10 AM

I stayed up until 2am to finish Epoch. It was epic, I had a knot in my throat and tears in my eyes a good portion of it, and now I’m paying for the sleep. Bc there’s no sleeping in w/littles OR a hungry baby in the belly. :’( When I don’t sleep much, my eyes get real glassy like I’m stoned. I feel ridiculous today and I have to go to a baby shower soon for HOURS!! I should’ve stayed away, but I couldn’t resist!

R. Renee April 21, 2018 at 9:38 AM

Amy, there was an Okinawa mention in Maryse’s Epoch review. I second Jezebel and One Good Man!

bev April 21, 2018 at 10:19 AM

Amy we were just texting about it last night.
You don’t remember?
Cheryl texted us about trying the glass skin for a night out?
Which led to a discussion of k beauty and then J beauty?
And then how you lived there??

bev April 21, 2018 at 10:21 AM

Oh, wait.

That was Cheryl, R, Jean, and I that text.

Um…..

R. Renee April 21, 2018 at 12:13 PM
Amy April 21, 2018 at 12:18 PM

Ohhhhhh, okay…now I get it. I was all, “Did I post something while I was drunk and forgot about it?” LOL!!

Tasha J April 21, 2018 at 3:00 PM

Speaking of Jewel E. Ann, who I have a new love for, When Life Happened is on sale for 1.49 today only!

Tessa April 21, 2018 at 3:13 PM

R! I do too! I don’t even like M/M usually but that is perfect for me! :D The first one they were perfectly equal and the story was just great.

bev April 21, 2018 at 4:17 PM

Makes me think of Fabi.

bev April 21, 2018 at 4:30 PM

Kind of tempted. Shouldn’t and don’t wnt to spend the $ , but …….nice present for self.

Cheryl April 21, 2018 at 7:57 PM

Speaking of One Good Man, I just finished it. Quick, great read. All the feels. :)

bev April 21, 2018 at 8:02 PM

Is that our Amy….or another Amy in Okinawa?
Weird.

bev April 21, 2018 at 8:04 PM

I wonder if she watches dramas and has tried Japanese beauty products unlike this other Amy I know.

Amy April 21, 2018 at 8:31 PM

OMG, that IS a different Amy!! And I’m totally jealous of her because she is still living there and I’m not anymore. :P

*sticks tongue out at bev* I HAVE watched the K-drama. And I WILL try out the Japanese waterproof mascara when I need to buy some. And if that’s not good enough then go hang out with Okinawa Amy!!!!

I’m reading Birthday Girl. Perfect reading day. Lazy & loving it.

Amy April 22, 2018 at 8:33 PM

JEAN!!! CONGRATS!!!!! I’m so freaking happy for you, my friend!!

Cheryl April 22, 2018 at 9:05 PM

Jean- CONGRATS!

Just found out my son’s girlfriend is going to Japan this summer as a study abroad. She knew about the mascara and said Japanese and Korean women are fanatical with their skin care and have the best products. *side note she is Filipino* She’s going to get me the mascara and some skin care products. Even said her brother was really into korean skin care products after dating a korean girl. Funny she was also wearing this jacket today and she said it was a K-Pop. *small world*

bev April 22, 2018 at 9:29 PM

Oh, how fun for her. Also for you when you get your treats. You’ll have to keep us updated.

It is funny how small the world is sometimes. Though aware of I have not gotten into kpop.
