Happy Friday everyone! We found some book-goodies, but first, I wanna tell about a good one (at least… so far). I’m halfway through a K. Larsen thriller that’s not out YET (“The Tutor”), but I’m certainly in!! Dark psych-thriller and she’s been held captive (although at first, she doesn’t realize it). Ohhhh it’s going to get sinister. OR!! It’s going to hurt my heart (good ol’ Stockholm Syndrome).
But one thing’s for sure, I have NO clue where it’s going to take me, and I’m hoping this author’s penchant for twisty shocking reveals will reveal another jaw-dropper! I’ll keep you posted (but of course, spoiler-free, that is). 😉
Maryse: I want to announce that I’m reading a K. Larsen book that isn’t out yet called The Tutor and it’s DARK. YAY ME!!!!!! In bed already, reading, with a lemon drop martini. This is the life!
Jan: Maryse, you’re in bed with your tutor and a lemon drop martini. Nice. Enjoy!
Nay: Oooh, just put The Tutor on my tbr! No release date yet, darn it! But I love the trigger warning: “Trigger warning: all of them. This will not elicit warm fuzzy feelings”
Amy: *adds new K. Larsen book to list* I’ll NEVER turn down a chance to read one of her books!!!
But in the meantime…
Take a look at what we found! (NOTE: some are bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):
- Revelry by Kandi Steiner <— MOODY NEW NEIGHBOR ALERT & IT JUST WENT LIVE!!! She’s newly divorced and taking some time away, and has a new brooding UNINTERESTED neighbor… “A broody neighbor with nice arms, a strange reputation, and absolutely no interest in her. Anderson Black is perfectly fine being lost. He doesn’t care about the town’s new resident — he’s too busy fighting his own demons. But when he’s brought face to face with Wren, he can see her still-fresh wounds from a mile away...”
Nancy: I Loved this Book!!
Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre <— ALESSANDRA TORRE ALERT! “He wanted a perfect polite sex toy. Turns out, that roles doesn’t really work for me.” Tee hee!!! If this tiny teaser doesn’t titillate you, I don’t know what will. 😉 I one-clicked it. That’s EXACTLY what I want to read. P.S. It’s bargain priced (to sweeten the pot). And Jessica is as excited as I am about it!
Jessica: I just one-clicked Alessandra’s TROPHY WIFE. I love the taboo trope, and anything with a so-wrong-it’s-right contract in it is my catnip these days. I already stayed up way too late plowing through half of it last night, and now I’m *almost* looking forward to going to the gym today because I get to keep reading it on the elliptical. Thanks for the great blog post!
Maryse: YAY JESSICA!!! I second every thing you just said. Except about the gym. I just… no. *snort* 😛
Red Water by Kristen Mae <— LIVE!!! PSYCH-THRILLER/HORROR ALERT!!!! Ooooh this one just went LIVE and looks interesting (and has some AMAZING sounding reviews)… listed as “thriller/horror” (sounds like a psych-thriller to me!!) She just started college and considers her tiny dorm an upgrade from where she was living… “…when her new love interest begins to reveal his more unsavory appetites, Malory finds herself a hapless participant in sick games that force her to confront her nasty inner demons. As the game intensifies, so do the whispers in Malory’s head…“
- Partly Pumping by Victoria Devino <— HE TOOK HALF HER HEART & THIS IS HER LOVE STORY… “…yes, you will read about him, and I will talk about him a lot. And you will picture him in your mind. You will try to put together characteristics of him. But, they will never be accurate. Because, I cant even do that. Time makes you forget all of the most important details. Time creates you to forget – until you need to remember again. My name is Ann Marie. This is my story about love. And it is now time for me to remember. I am going to try and remember it all...” and Allie recommends it!
Allie: You should review Partly Pumping, by Victoria Devino! Its on Amazon and I am obsessed. Such steamy scenes, but it is so empowering with a strong female voice. This reminded me of it a little…awesome.
- How We Fall by Melissa Toppen <— LIVE!!! BEST FRIENDS SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE ALERT! “…Cole wasn’t just my childhood best friend- the boy who knew me better than anyone else in the whole world. He was also my first love- a part of my very core. When a tragic death brings us face to face again after six years, every single memory comes rushing to the surface. Only this is not the boy I fell in love with all those years ago. The man before me is hardened, intimidating, and so damn sexy I practically melt when those dark eyes meet mine for the first time in six years...”
- Blood Of A Rebel (Black Rebel Riders’ MC Book 9) by Glenna Maynard <— LIVE!! BIKER BOOK ALERT!!
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo <— FANTASY ROMANCE THRILLER ALERT! One of our favorite authors LOVED this one, and now bev is reading it and seems to be loving it too (mind you, it’s been hit-or-miss amongst our crew for a few that can’t get into it, but maybe it’s a mood thing? I’m dying to know ’cause it looks so good.
Suzanne: Six of Crows is still echoing in my head. Smart. Exciting. Suspenseful. A hint of swoon. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong. You thought you had it figured out and then—WRONG! It gave me a total panic attack. Loved it.
bev: I’m also reading Six of Crows. It’s delightful. So much fun.
Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella <— SO FUNNY ALERT!! Cait can’t stop laughing and she’s driving everyone around her crazy! 😉
Jean: Hey guys, a book I’ve been waiting to go on sale finally did! Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella. I know I heard of this book on here somewhere a long time ago! Another of hers, Remember Me?, is also on sale!
Cait: On Jean’s comment about the Sophie Kinsella book sale I bought can you keep a secret and honestly haven’t stopped laughing! My family are ready to throw something at me! Thanks Jean
Maryse: Yay!! Thank you Jean. I don’t have “Remember Me?”
!!!!
Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella <— SHE LOST HER MEMORY & REALIZES SHE’S NOW LIVING THE LIFE!!! One click of happiness!!! 😀 “Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed. Somehow Lexi went from a twenty-five-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband—who also happens to be a multimillionaire? With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she…well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all.” Mine!!! 😀
- Semi-Broken (Harper Hall Investigations Book 4) by Isabel Jordan <— PARANORMAL ALERT!! Laura found us this one!!
Laura: Isabel Jordan’s “Semi-Broken” (Harper Hall Investigations Book 4) was released today. This is literally the only book that could coax me out of my book hangover after reading “Never Sweeter: A Dark Obsession Novel” by Charlotte Stein.
- Accidentally on Purpose: A Heartbreaker Bay Novel by Jill Shalvis <— JILL SHALVIS SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT! Tee hee! This one looks like fun!! I love it when “friends” sabotage potential dates. 😉 “As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad—and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along…“
Commitment by Nia Forrester <— SOUNDS FORBIDDENY!!!! HE’S A FAMOUS RAPPER & THEY CAN’T STAY AWAY FROM EACH OTHER… “…what’s worse, while he’s never committed to any woman before, she’s committed to someone else. Still, they can’t stay away from each other…” Jan tells us WE MUST READ THIS SERIES!!!
Jan: I started reading this back in March but took a break cos I was nervous about the angst coming :-/ Now I’ve started again from the start. I’m determined I’m going to get through it this time. I LOVE the rest of this series. And I LOVE the h and H of this one, Riley and Shawn. Just, Shawn, don’t do it!!! Noooooo!!!!!! Don’t break her heart! (and my heart). (But I already know from the other books that all will eventually end well. It’s just the pain and angst of the journey!)*shouts out* Everyone should read this series!!
- Sempre by J.M. Darhower <— OLDIE BUT GOODIE MAFIA ROMANCE ALERT!! And Kathy FINALLY just read it!
Kathy: I just finished Sempre by J.M. Darhower. I am so embarrassed to say that I bought it in 2013 and FINALLY read it!! It was so good. I couldn’t sleep last night as I stopped with 80% read and wanted to see how it ended. I can’t wait to start Sempre Redemption. It makes me wonder how many treasures are just sitting on my Kindle waiting to be read!!
The Hot Shot by Kristen Callahan <— KRISTEN CALLIHAN’S LATEST SPORTS STAR RELEASE… SHE’S A PRICKLY PHOTOGRAPHER & BECOMES HIS ROOMMATE ALERT!!! And Kandace LOVES IT!!
Kandace: I’m reading The Hot Shot and it’s giving me beautiful butterflies. I think it’s going to be one of my favs of the year.
Jean: The Hot Shot (just read The Game Plan (Game On Series Book 3) so really looking forward to Finn’s story!)
- The Last Girl (The Dominion Trilogy Book 1) by Joe Hart <— DYSTOPIAN THRILLER ALERT!!!! Fabi is reading this one, that I can’t wait to start. It’s a complete trilogy, and I have the first two books!!! YAY ME!!!!
Fabi: Maryse, I can’t put it down. I stayed up late reading. I got up early to read. Then I took a two hour lunch reading (oops). It’s dystopian with a bit of apocalypse and a dollop of thriller. It’s kept me on the edge of my seat so definitely working up to a 5 star for me.
The Brave Line by Kate Stewart <— I LOVE THIS AUTHOR & I totally one-clicked her latest release (it’s super-bargain priced!!). MINE MINE MINE!!! A dispatcher starting over… and a COP!!! YAY ME!!!! “…Fueled by a new career as a dispatcher, she’s determined not to let her scars weigh her down. She apologizes for nothing, especially her insatiable need for a certain police officer...”
- Tyler (Riding Hard Book 4) by Jennifer Ashley <— LIVE!!! SEXY WESTERN BY JENNIFER ASHLEY ALERT!!!
- White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements Book 1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout <— JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT LOVE TRIANGLE ALERT THAT MIGHT MAKE YOU FALL FOR BOTH OF THEM!!! Amy found us this one on super-sale!
Amy: White Hot Kiss by Jennifer Armentrout (first book in the Dark Elements trilogy)… right now! Total feels from all the YA PNR/UF books of a few years ago. I still can’t believe how she made me fall equally for both Zayne and Roth. I was thrilled with who she chose but oh, my heart…seeing the other guy have to walk away HURT.
- Fix You (Second Chances Book 1) by Mari Carr <— LIVE!!! HER BEST FRIEND IS A ROCK STAR & SHE’S IN LOVE WITH HIM ALERT!! “...This New Year’s Eve heralds the year she’s going to tell Rob the truth. Even if he is on the road, reaching for musical stardom with his band. Her plan is derailed when she discovers a lump in her breast—and it’s not “nothing to worry about”…“
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard <— HUGE HIT FANTASY ROMANCE/THRILLER ALERT! She has a power she didn’t know about until now… “Mare Barrow’s world is divided by blood—those with common, Red blood serve the Silver- blooded elite, who are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles, she discovers she has an ability of her own. To cover up this impossibility, the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons...” So many in our crew went crazy for this one, and now MichelleS is LOVING it, too!
MichelleS: I decided what the heck, I’ll download sample of Red Queen. Totally hooked. Finally some good writing!!!
Tessa: *squee* Yeah, MichelleS! I hope you enjoy it. *fingers crossed*
Robyn: Michelle S….the Red Queen was such a good book. I’ve read the whole series and am waiting for the next book to come out. You won’t be disappointed! I also bought all the books in hardback from Costco a couple months ago. I scored, the lottery on that one!

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!
F*ck Love by Tarryn Fisher <— HE’S DATING HER BEST FRIEND ALERT!!! Ashley recommends it in audiobook! “I absolutely loved F*ck Love. I read the book once but have listened to the audiobook 3 or 4 times, it’s one that I keep going back to.”
- Bright Side by Kim Holden <— AWESOME TEAR-JERKER ALERT!!! And Nay recommends THIS one in audiobook! Since many of you got the Kindle version at a super-bargain price, it’s exceptionally well priced as an audiobook also, if you use Amazon’s Whipsersync feature. 😉
Nay: the Brightside audiobook is FABULOUS!!

I just finished The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan and it is FANTASTIC! Whoop whoop
Maryse! YOU MUST READ THE GRAVITY OF US STAT!
I finished The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan last night and I loved it as well! It was a fun read!
Fallen Crest Home is my weekend read.
Oh and if you get your hands on another copy of The Tudor and want to share Maryse… *whistles*, I’m totally in!!!
This week I also read Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne, that was was really cute and fun. I read Money Shot by Scott Hildreth which had a great slow burn. The House Mate by Kendall Ryan, another one that I really enjoyed (I thought it was the better one out of her ‘Mate’ books). And I finished listening to Even the Score by Beth Ehemann…I could listen to Christian Fox narrate all day long. Which reminds me I’m looking forward to listening to Restored and The Spire (books 5 & 6 in the Walsh series) by Kate Canterbury which just came out on audible. I just relistened to The Cornerstone (my favorite!) so I’m set to go. I won’t listen to them until I’m back at work though… I deliver mail and listen while I’m walking, I was *supposed* to be on vacation this week but 2 hours before ‘vacation time’ I fell on a crack in someone’s driveway while rolling my ankle and I gashed open the other knee (there was blood everywhere), one trip to the ER and 7 stitches later (2 internal) and my vacation turned into sick leave (and workmans comp.). Oh, and no I did not do very well in the ER… I couldn’t look the entire time, I ‘accidentally’ hit the doctor giving me stitches (it was a reflex! But my boyfriend did make me hold both of his hands after that) and I was exceedingly melodramatic, but anytime she asked if I wanted more anesthetic I said, ‘yes please’. At least I got to read a whole bunch this week because it’s the only thing I could do.
OMG…. CL Wilson has announced that the Sea King will be released 31st October 2017. Psst she also states in the comments at the bottom of this post https://clwilson.com/sea-king-available-for-preorderb/ that Bels book is already written….runs around doing a happy dance
I LOVED The Brave Line!!! It’s not only my favorite of the series but one of my favorites all year. I couldn’t put it down and even snuck in some reading during work time – shhhh!!!
I one-clicked that one Stephanie!!!! I LOVE that author and it sounds so good.
*squee* Thank you Lemon! I wonder what took her so long to release to release it?
Red Rising by Pierce Brown is on sale for $1.99 *thud* It’s going to take a defibrillator to revive me from this one. OMG!!! Greatness on sale!!!
Maryse, I second Ela’s comment….YOU MUST READ THE GRAVITY OF US ASAP!!!!!! IN FACT, EVERYONE HERE MUST READ IT!!!!!!!
Okay Ela ‘n Jean!!! I’ll read it this weekend!! I’ll need a nice intense romance after the thriller I’m reading.
Fabi, I just went to 1-click Red Rising and I already had it…..that great huh?
Fabi!! I thought of you when I saw that pop up as on sale!
To add to that, The Unbroken Line of the Moon by Johanne Hildebrandt is 2.00…I thought of you with that one s well! 😀
Looking up The Unbroken Line of the Moon —->
Amy, have you read Red Rising? You’d love it. Think Unwind + Partials + Divergent + Hunger Games + Uglies +++
Ok, The Unbroken Line of the Moon sounds really good. I just downloaded a sample. Even though it’s on sale, I’m trying to be good and not buy a book unless I’m sure I’ll have time to read it. I’m adding it to my schedule right now.
Holy moly Fabi…all of those wrapped up in one story?? CLICK!
Look at you being all responsible and adult-like. I should take notes. 😛
Oh Ashley, that’s awful!! *get-well-soon hug*
Anesthetic and pain killers are two of the most amazing things ever created, right? 😉
OMG, OMG, OMG, if you want to read the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa (Highly recommend it!), the first book is only 1.99! *grins* It’s worth a try for any lovers of Fae, YA, or fantasy. *spins*
Maryse–I actually started The Brave Line last night. I was going to start Room 212 but when I saw the blurb for The Brave Line.I couldn’t resist! I’m on Chapter 7, and so far so good!
I think I remember some of you or at least on of you saying you’d like to read Beyond the Sea. It was one of my favorite M/M Romance Books last year and it’s now on sale.
Beyond the Sea https://amzn.to/2ouPXnu is on sale too for 99 cents
LEMON!!!! OMG OMG OMG… Bel’s book, as in Bel from Tairen Soul Series??? SQUEEEE! I loved Bel so hard!! Gah!! Back to the Fading Lands…. sigh… made my day!
“Belliard vel Jelani (Bel) – Solitary, fierce, and the deadliest Fey warrior in the Fading Lands after Rain, Bel is a master of every Fey magic except Earth, which to his embarrassment he cannot wield at all. At 1,400 years old, and a veteran of the Mage Wars, it won’t be long before he seeks sheisan’dahlein, the Fey honor death, or slips down the Dark Path to become dahl’reisen, an honorless outcast of the Fading Lands.”
I am fan-girling so hard right now, Lemon, you have no idea!!!!
I second that, Fabi! Loved Beyond the Sea. Great read!
MichelleS! *points to her last post* Iron Fey, 1.99 get it! Read it!
YAY!! Thank you Fabi. I just one-clicked Beyond the Sea. I’m a sucker for deserted island romance. 😉
Me too! It’s one of my favorite tropes.
Yep, I’m agreeing with Tessa…Iron Fey series is GREAT.
And I’m so glad she decided to write Iron Knight because I would have been heartbroken if she ended the series with Iron Queen as she had planned to. Phew!! *wipes forehead*
Oh, and I agree about Red Queen as well. DEFINITELY agree. 😀 All the suspense with not knowing who to trust and questioning everyone was done VERY well.
Hehehe Amy is agreeing with a whole bunch of my favorites today. Especially Iron Fey. Can you believe Michelle hasn’t read that yet? 0.0
Of course Beyond the Sea is on sale now when I bought it last week on MichelleS’ rec.
Anyone else have the song in your head now?
Nia Forrester’s Commitment series is my fav series I’ve been reading this year. Real grown-up sexy people with complicated lives, but deep, real love will win the day in the end. Wonderful stuff.
I plan to read The Gravity of Us when I finish my current read.
Beyond the Sea is one of my challenge reads, can’t wait for that one either.
Tessa…of course I agree with you! The Dark Elements, If He Had Been With Me…give me some time and I can find others we have rec’d to each other and agreed on how great they were. 😉
🙂 This is true. Now we have to get Michelle to read Iron Fey.
OOH! And also Until the End of the World, which MichelleS read as well!!
So it’s official…MichelleS needs to read the Iron Fey series. *nods head and lifts lemon cream martini in the air*
I still have to read the last one of Until the End of the World.. Which I will. I’ll get it next month. Because, um, I forgot to get it.
Yes, though, MichelleS needs to read it. She has a Fae as her icon! It’s necessary.
Do you have a non citrusy martini?
Bev, if you bought the book less than a week ago you can return it and rebuy it at the lower price – or I think they also have a price drop guarantee where they’ll refund you the diff.
*looks at lemon cream martini ingredients on kitchen counter*
*pulls out raspberry vodka*
How ’bout a raspberry cream martini? But watch out for our resident martini snatcher…
And woman! Get the last UTEOTW book!!
I can do that. 🙂 That sounds yummy. *takes a sip* I licked it. it’s mine!
*swipes creamy raspberry drink from Tessa*
I don’t mind a few cooties. Yum!!! This is good.
Noooo! Amy! Fabi stole my drink! It was raspberry too! Darn it. Take the lemon one.
pffft, you think I’m passing up anything “creamy” for something “lemony” ? Not – ever – happening.
I keep my drinks safe:.

But it’s creamy lemon…
*grabs her wrist and starts gulping*
See, mine!
leggo my hand you … body/drink snatcher you
Ooohhh creamy lemony…NM…I’ll take one of those – on my other wrist please Amy.
Hee hee…Fabi likes creamy stuff. *SNORT!!*
Girls…GIRLS!!!! There’s enough for everyone.
*passes out more martinis after sipping out of each glass*
How you like THEM cooties. 😆
*peeks around for Maryse*
Quick, gulp ’em down before she comes out of her K. Larsen blankie fort!!!
Damn…I’m losing my buzz. Time to up the ante and the alcohol content!!
Where ARE you guys??
Dangit. All this liquor and no one to talk to while I imbibe myself…
Awwwwwwwww!!!!!
Where was I while all the lemony drinks were happening? Oh I know. Locked in my blankie fort all forgetful that Fridays = reading and lemony drinks (or Unicorn drinks, or… whatever Amy is serving up).
I demand a do-over! 😀
Happy Saturday peeps!
Mixed Up by Emma Hart…FLOVED it!!! Hot know it all chef and his new boss let the insults fly…nothing held back. They literally hate each other…until they don’t….Did I mention his boss owns this bar that serves the most ‘unique’ cocktails …umm mixed drinks with obscene names…. But I guess that shouldn’t be surprising with the bar named Dirty. Oh yeah, she is part Greek and her yia-yia comes to visit…so peeps go ahead and read it if not for anything BUT the drink recipes at the end!!!!
D.G. I LOVE BOOKS WHEN THEY HATE EACH OTHER!!! And apparently I have a penchant for chef stories. 😉 MINE!!!!! Thank yoU!!!!
I sort of feel like you all were sounding Like Charlie Brown’s teacher just now… Wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah. No offense, naturally, because I am sure if I picked up one of those books I would be addicted to them. Speaking of addiction… I just hit it… The one click button on Amazon. I swear, I heard it! Did you hear it? I swear, it was a choir of angels! And they were singing. You know, that song… Reunited and it feels so good…. And just like that. Almost because without intent you are free? I’m going to spend some QT with Mason and Logan and Sam!
D.G., I got Mixed Up on my TBR. 🙂 It sounds right up my book alley. Too many goodies and not enough time.
I think I’ve passed over the Iron Fey series because it’s Harlequin Teen. I can handle YA, but teen??? Hmmmm…. okay, fine, I’ll read the sample!
Bev – contact Amazon customer service. They’ll refund you the difference. They’ve done it several times for me when I just purchased a book at higher price.
DG – that one sounds funny & sexy!! Will need to add it to my list! I love stories set around restaurants, bars. Reminds me of my childhood. Grandparents owned a pub & a coffee shop. So much fun.
YA means teen. 😛 Anywhere from 15+ to 12+. 🙂 They used to always mean 12+ but now the books are a little more explicit, so some get pushed all the way to 15+. That said, yes, read them. The beginning is told a little fairy tale ish, but it’s supposed to to contrast the rest of the story. (Really, JUST the beginning is written like that.)
Amy, sorry! I fell asleep at 10 last night. I was tired. I couldn’t even keep my eyes open. I literally had my book up trying to keep reading as I fell asleep. I’m reading Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Córdova. It’s really good and it delves into Spanish/ Mexican myths of magic and death. I’ve never read a book that explores those myths so I’m really loving it. In fact, the only story I’ve ever seen with them is Book of Life, the cartoon. 🙂
Hey, Amy.
*bounces on the edge of Amy’s bed*
Fabi’s reading Simon today.
What’s that?
*moves martini glass to get closer*
Too loud?
*opens curtains*
But it’s SIMON!
Whoa. Ok ok ok.
*tiptoes out*
R or Maryse, you all need to make Amy some coffee and a hangover breakfast.
Then we can happy dance.
I’m on it! Monkey bread coming up! (with a greasy BLT!) 😉
Weeellll, bev, you know how so many people loved Thoughtless and … you didn’t?
*giggle*
OMG, I love you girls so much! SO…. even though Tessa screwed the pooch and read Fallen Crest Home before Amy and I could start, I am going to do that today.
Maryse, how is The Tudor?
After this… I want a bully… anyone? Bueller… Bueller???
I’m sorry. It was just too good to resist. Also, don’t we also want a bully. I jump on those things so fast. *sighs* Not enough of them, if you ask me.
Lol.
Oh, man. What if it is your Thoughtless?
You guys…
I’m doing “Middle Paragraph Saturday”
LOL!!
Anyway… all that to say I’m reading one from above (I totally one-clicked it) because I was SO in the mood for this kind of story (and it. Is. HOT!!!! D-I-R-T-Y hot. BUT!!! Not erotica. Totally a romance book).
Okay so… they just TOTALLY did er… all SORTS of “it”, and *whoooo* *blink blink* and then…
this:
“We stood for minutes just staring at each other before a shared, slow building smile lit up our faces. Lost in his eyes and his hold on me, I let myself go and felt the earth shift briefly. Rowdy was a sexual deviant hidden behind his blues the way I hid behind my headset. We were a sexual match. And it would have been perfect… if it wasn’t already over.”
SO GOOD (so far)!!!
Stewart, Kate – The Brave Line
Grey I’m enjoying it!!!
But I took a quick break ’cause I just wanted to read and review a book this weekend, and since The Tutor won’t be available for a bit, I can’t post the review yet…
*groans and pulls covers over head*
Noooooo bev…it’s too early. And BRIGHT!
*nudges bev’s behind with foot to push her off the bed*
I’ll take a hair o’ the dog along with that hangover breakfast though…
And good for Fabi that she’s reading Simon ’cause she bailed on me last night (and so did YOU Tessa!) and left me all liquored up with no one to talk to. As for me, I’m hanging out in the messed-up world of Figure Eight and then paying a visit to Fallen Crest to hang out with Tessa’s book hubby, Logan, and our resident girl crush.
0.0 *goes to look up The Brave Line*
KU Mine!
Maryse, *fans self* Nice!! I will come back later with my “Middle Paragraph Saturday”. I literally don’t have one at the moment, LOL! I finished The Bird and the Sword last night and have been catching up everywhere this morning/early afternoon… so, I’ll be back LOL!
Tessa, you’re lucky, I am getting ready to go see what our favorites in FC are up to…and that we’re lovers of bullies and all… so I’m feeling generous today. *giggle*
Roll call on the Goodreads page. We are starting to look at challenges for May!
Kate Stewart, as in Room 212 Kate Stewart? And with a paragraph like that?? Oh, HECK yeah…CLICK!!!!
Yep Maryse, while I was getting ditched last night (despite my creamy lemon and raspberry martinis), you were holed up in the K. Larsen blankie fort which we aren’t allowed into yet. 🙁 But I can’t wait to hear your take on The Tutor!!
So instead of chatting, I went shopping. Drunk shopping. And bought over $100 worth of body butter and soft bubbles scrub (aka sugar scrub) in about six different scents. And guess what the body butter smells like…marshmallow and cake. 😉
Grey! What did you think of The Bird and the Sword?? I saw an eagle soaring over the freeway (and almost rear ended someone while trying to watch it) right after I finished it a while back, and I swear I sighed a swoony sigh.
Amy, Fabi’s already said nope to it, lol. Too boring for her. So pass me the hair of the dog, lol.
I too plan to do some online shopping this morning. ….early afternoon now.
R, I thought you might appreciate that I needed a little push to get up and going today after a very loooong work week. So I put on Roadhouse Blues. Love that opening guitar.
AMY.
You speak my lotion scent and martini language!!!!!!!!
That would be the EXACT scent i’d choose. Oh yesssssss.
Maryse…right?!? I walk by people throughout the day and hear, “what smells like cookies?” or “do you smell cake?” and then I get home at the end of the day and hubby is all “mmmmmmmm…” and nuzzles me because the scent lasts ALL DAY.
A very sweet friend got me addicted to that brand and scent. 😉
OOH! I can’t wait for my order to come in!! I got the soft bubbles scrub in apricot eyelet, angel food cake, bavarian coconut cake, and…and…crap, I can’t remember what else. But if I like ’em I’m going to order a slew of body butters in those scents and then try out some more scents like wedding cake, jelly doughnut, hawaiian cake, and a bunch more. Yep, it’s my new addiction…
Alright, here we go. “Middle Paragraph Saturday!”
I was good with this. Really. It didn’t bother me to hear a list of all the sh*tty things Analise had done before finally disappearing into a mental hospital for two years.
Then Heather dropped the last bomb. “She killed your unborn siblings, and you were the one who found her.”
In a pile of blood.
I called 911.
I was eleven.
*Squee* welcome back to Fallen Crest, ladies and gentlemen!
Finally finished One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline – It started off promising, but I was hoping it would go somewhere else and I was disappointed in the first twist. I thought it sort of predictable, not enough depth and the dialogue sort of stilted. I also didn’t believe the romantic connection. Boo! I had super high hopes for this one.
So, I started Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson last night and jumped back in right away this morning and though I’m only about 20% in so far, this is what I needed!!! I’m connected to the main character, it’s got depth, mystery, and suspense! I’m afraid to continue, but I have to continue…are you ever afraid to keep reading a book that pulls hard at your emotions and fears for what could happen? Those books are the best, but it takes a lot out of me. I have to stop constantly to prep myself to go back in, not knowing what to expect. Anyway, I hope to finish this weekend, as it’s probably the last book I’ll read for the next month. I took on another temporary big job and won’t have the time or energy to get into anything for a while. So, here’s to hoping this book is as big of a bang as it’s promising to be so far! 🙂
Oh and btw…my bathroom mirror is FINALLY coming in in the next week or so, I’ll have pics of the completion hopefully soon! 😀 (P.S. – I’m planning on putting the hand on the laundry chute door as of yet ;))
Amy, the brand is called soft bubbles?
Holy moly, Grey…I can’t wait to get back to FC!!
bev, Fabi gave up on Simon already? Ummm, here… *slides some hair o’ the dog over to bev* Hey! Let’s do some shopping together! Where are you going? I’ll meet ya there. 😉
*goes and checks out Allegedly*
Daaaaaaammmmnnnn…that’s a doozy. 😕
bev…the brand is Cocoa Pink. Trust me, it’s amazing. 😀
Yes.
Thoughtless + Fabi = bev drinking and reckless shopping.
Hmm. If I loved Simon and hated Thoughtless and Fabi hates Simon, welll……maybe she’d love Thoughtless.
Ok, I will go see what they got. I love scents, though lean more toward green brands the last few years.
bev’s listening to The Doors!? Woo hoo!! “Alexa, play Roadhouse Blues by The Doors.” And now I’m jammin’!
uh, no, h’s cheating is so not my thing
IDK what to do for my May challenge book! There’s a reason I DNF’d!
Not a super fan, but yes. It is one I hit repeat on any time it pops up on shuffle.
Lol, I have to share my blast from the past – Bastille is currently playing on pandora, we listen to folksy/indie/some pop music usually for nap time. And they’re playing What Would You Do by City High. It sounded so weird coming from them, I did a double take when I heard the lyrics. It’s been YEARS since I’ve heard that song, I used to play that cd on repeat as a teen.
Ok. One Blood orange pucker on its way. The scent I chose.
*gasp* You ordered something from there, bev?? YAY!!! What did you get in that scent?
Maryse…you know, as much as I mess with you about receiving and reviewing books early, I actually DO like it when you get your hands on an advance copy and then gush about it here. I would love to hear about The Tutor, and I would ESPECIALLY love to hear about Seven Husbands. Seriously. No, really…I want to know all about that one. 😉
Unless you’re not supposed to review it early?
Amy… Seven Husbands… EPIC!!! *Squee* gah! I can’t wait until I can gush with someone else about this one!
Just finished Trophy Wife and loved it – it was exactly the type of book I was wanting to read after feeling like I’d been reading the same thing over and over again the last few weeks.
Excited to start The Brave Line next after all the positive remarks!
The body butter..um..dream whip?
Let me know what you think of it, bev…I’ve only tried the regular body butter so I’m curious how the dream whip is. Gah, I love girly stuff!!! 😀
Grey! I can’t wait to read Seven Husbands!! Of course it has been preordered for me since I first heard about it here. 😉
Maryse–so glad you started The Brave Line! I’m loving their chemistry, and it’s super HAWT!!!
Checking out ‘Mixed Up’, because I also lurve a H and h who hate each other, and ‘Allegedly’ because clearly I don’t have enough books to read already! squee!!
Right now I’m obsessed with easier-than-they-look updo videos (since I usually wear my hair up for work) and the short Pinterest cooking/slow cooker videos that make the recipes look sooooo easy…even though mine never come out looking like they do in the videos for either the hair or food. Whatever. They are still fun!
Amy do you ever look at this one?
I am horrible at hair, but tempted to try some simple looking ones. But then my insecure side come out ……like are they too young looking or is everyone looking at me. So I rarely do, lol.
https://www.hairromance.com
Middle paragraph…kinda…
“Her brother’s friend, right?” She titled her head to the side. “Yeah, she mentioned she hated you.”
She’d talked about me?
“She did not mention you were hot, though.” the second woman said. “Camille!”
Ahhh.
The best friends.
“What?” Camille said. “I am just saying.”
“No more Slutwhisperers for you,” the other woman – the one I presumed was Lani- said reaching for her glass.
Mixed Up by Emma Hart
I bookmarked it…thanks bev!
Even at our age we can pull off some styles that are supposed to be “younger looking.” I think the key is to not style it as “messy” or else it will look sloppy on us. I usually do what is supposed to be a messy style but then clean it up a bit with pins and hairspray.
I still struggle with trying to pull off braids though. Like you, my insecure side comes out and I am just sure people are looking at me and thinking, “does she realize she is too old for that?” 😳
Come on Amy. Do the braid.
https://www.hairromance.com/2016/09/2-min-easy-braid-tutorial-wet-hair-video.html
Ooh I’m loving these middle paragraphs. *goes to look up a nice juicy paragraph from book I’m reading*
BTW if it’s Harlequin Teen, just, no. I’m pretty much over YA. Even NA has to be pretty damn good to tempt me. Give me proper grown-up adults, peeps.
Oooh I like that one bev and it doesn’t look too young at all to me. And I think I can actually do it!
Yep, that’s a doable one for me as well. I’m going to try it one day next week.
I want someone to teach me how to curl my hair with a flat iron. I cannot do it. I’ve watched videos, and both my stylist and daughter have tried to teach me. I need someone with patience. I have a big barreled curling iron but it doesn’t hold nearly as well.
My hair is too short for a curling iron or braids. Oh well.
Here is a middle paragraph from a great book I’m reading:
“But you’re avoiding my question.”
“Was there a question? I didn’t hear one.”
“Will you spend the night with me?”
Before she could respond, he had leaned forward and put a hand at the back of her neck, gently pulling her across the table toward him. His lips were warm, soft. When his tongue met hers, she could taste an amalgamation of their evening together: an underlying spiciness from their meal, the bitter barley of the Red Stripe beer, a hint of coffee bean and finally the sweetness of kiwi. It was a brief, sweet and softly persuasive kiss, and like everything else about him, so unexpected. Riley leaned back in her chair and smiled. When he smiled back, she actually got goose bumps.
from Commitment by Nia Forrester.
Aaah. Happy sigh. Riley and Shawn are so perfect together.
I love YA. I have read some harlequin teen, I believe.
Try the braid and tell us how it goes, I will be curious.
You mean like this, R. Did not know you could curl with them.
https://abeautifulmess.com/2017/04/elsies-everyday-flat-iron-curls.html
Yes bev, but the pre-curls make it even more confusing!
Lol, I think they are post curls. Curl up with iron and clip then let cool. But I’m hopeless at hair.
Random ParagraphS:
That’s where I found Blue’s post. It just kind of spoke to me. And I don’t even think it was just the gay thing. I don’t know. It was seriously like five lines, but it was grammatically correct and strangely poetic, and just completely different from anything I’d everl read before.
Finished Fallen Crest Home… I’m floating on my bubble. Now I need a bully… Tessa?! Lol!
I guess it was about loneliness. And it’s funny, because I don’t really think of myself as lonely. But there was something so familiar about the way Blue described the feeling. It was like he had pulled the ideas from my head.
Like the way you can memorize someone’s gestures but never know their thoughts. And the feeling that people are like houses with vast rooms and tiny windows.
The way you can feel so exposed anyway.
The way he feels so hidden and so exposed about the fact that he’s gay.
I felt strangely panicked and self-conscious when I read that part, but there was also this quiet thrum of excitement.
He talked about the ocean between people. And how the whole point of everything is to find a shore worth swimming to.
I mean, I just had to know him.
Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Showing some well written YA loving pride.
Roadhouse Blues – Best Doors song EVER!
Amy, I love body stuff like that. Gonna check it out.
Bev, that braid is AWESOME! I think that style is appropriate for any age. Not sure I can maneuver the back of my head, but will try it.
Look, nothing against YA, bev. I’ve enjoyed many a YA in my time, especially fantasy. It just rarely floats my boat these days though, so I usually avoid it. But Simon certainly looks like one of the better ones.
Ohh Maryse, I just finished “The Gravity of Us”. I loooved it. Def 5 stars. thanks Jean. Great Rec.
Melinda that will be my next one! I’m excited!!! 😀
Grrrrr…hubs has veto-ed all the yummy food scents I wanted to buy from Cocoa Pink!!! Apparently he does NOT think its sexy for me to smell like cake, cookies or marshmellows.
Stupid husbands! *grumbles*
Cocoa Pink is my favorite!! smelling like desserts is also my favorite. How can anyone not wanna smell cookies and cakes all day long?? *gasp*
Has anyone watched CoHo’s Confess show???
I LOVED it!!! Cast was fabulous and Owen was quite easy on the eyes.
*fans self*
I loved the tv adaptation of Confess! It made me stay up way past my bedtime so that I could finish it. I thought it was really well done, and yes, they had a beautiful cast!
Ashley, I wish more of our faves were turned into shows like this!
I watched the first 2 eps when they released early, but I haven’t been able to fit any more in! Agree on Owen!!! Auburn…hmm…
I watched Confess too, didn’t read the book though. I thought Owen’s acting was great, agree on Auburn. But I loved that actress on Switched at birth, so I was really surprised by it in this show. I’m sure it’s hard to fit an entire book into a small series like that, I think for me it needed more. So I though it was ok, not fantastic, but entertaining none the less.
I’m loving the paragraphs too! So, here’s mine: ““Do you really think we should keep it?”
He stares, drinking me in. “Do you want to?”
“No.” He is silent for a moment, then chuckles. “You a bad liar.” I look up and smirk. Kind of hate how he knows me yet doesn’t know me at all. Guess I love it a little bit too. Ted is so tall the top of his head almost touches the welcome sign a few inches above him. His eyes are so pretty and brown, a shade lighter than his skin, but always mellow, loving, and calm. He never looks at me the way everyone else has the last six years. He looks at me like he’s happy I’m alive. Like Alyssa used to. I could stare at him for hours if we ever had the time. He squeezes my hand and looks away.”
“You know I love you, right?” he says. I know this, but it makes no sense. How could anyone love me after what I’ve done? “You know I won’t let anything happen to you,” he says, real serious. “Or our baby. You know I got you.” His face darkens with resolve. He is thinking about the girls in the house. But they aren’t the ones he should be worried about. I’m the one who killed a baby. Allegedly. “Addison,” a nurse calls from the door, aggravated and annoyed. “I know,” I mumble and let go of his hand.” – from Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson
Just saying it could be fun to do, though it would take me 48 hours to recover.

HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY, MY WONDERFUL BOOK BUDDIES!!!!
I am so thankful to have found you all! Were it not for Maryse and her creation of this place, I never would have met you all and wouldn’t have such a crazy, fun, and incredible group of friends who understand what it is to fall in love with books, go into reading frenzy, and crave all of those “book feels” which we all love so much.
Love you guys!!
Happy world book day! 🙂
Maybe that’s why Goodreads is finally working on a bunch of my old freebie purchases. Yeah, warning to GR readers. I just FLOODED your feed with adds. A few I think I’ve read, and have to go back, but for now put Want to Read. One I knew I read, and added that.
Happy World Book Day!
You all have to scroll down and click on the tatoo link. It is so cool. If you click on the style link, how pretty is Marie Lu’s complexion? I always want to know what a person uses even though I know my skin is not going to look like that with it, lol.
https://foreveryoungadult.com/2017/04/21/procrastination-pro-tips-sloppy-firsts-harry-potter-christmas-and-more/
God, girls are brutal! It’s like watching a scary part in a movie with your hands over your eyes. I wanna peek, but I don’t.
You know, the tatto is cool and all, but this is what made me squeel.
Sarah J. Maas’ next Throne of Glass book will be called Tower of Dawn and it can be in your grubby little hands on September 5th!

Happy World Book Day!!! as I said on Twitter, thank you to anyone who has ever written a book, because you have made someone, somewhere, happier for it!
And to our hostess with the mostest! Maryse, you’re awesome and we love you! Thank you the most, whether it is; putting up with our shenanigans or spending countless hours, researching & typing up these informative posts for us, not to mention reading and reviewing on your own… Your hard work does not go unnoticed or unappreciated! *big squishy hugs*
Ah, feeling the love today!
Awwwww you guys!!!! <3 I swear your (OUR) shenanigans are the highlight of my days!!!!
The book Confess is so good! I loved that all of the ‘confessions’ in the book are real ones sent in to Colleen Hoover. The show is great, but I would definitely read the book because it’s amazing.
Leslie M I agree, they should make more of our favorite books into tv shows! I haven’t watched 13 Reasons Why yet, but it’s one that I want to see and I’ve been hearing great things about it.
I thought I should totally read the book after I saw the preview for the show, it looked like the kind of book I would love. Maybe I still will, since it didn’t give me too much detail, and that’s what I wanted. But, I have a tendency to never read books if I’ve watched the movie first. With the exception of Twilight, I did watch the movie first and only read the first book after. I did watch 13 Reasons Why at the same time as Confess too and it was exceptional! Hit me right in all the feels.
Happy World Book Day!!
Thanks Maryse for giving us a place to hang and share our love for books.
Happy World Book Day.
I feel like saying Happy BOOK WORLD day. 😉 ’cause this is OUR book world, no matter what genre we’re in to… us readers. We’re in our own awesome world.
*hugs* to all of you. I love our books. I LOVE us.
Big happy hugs for everyone for World Book Day. Apart from rl family stuff, reading is my favouritist thing in the world.
The Gravity of Us is next up for me too!!!
BUDDY READ!!!
I’m starting it now!! 🙂
You will love it Lesley, savour every little bit. When I finished I wanted to start it again. Just for those feels.
I must totally agree with Kadence above, The Hotshot gave me butterflies in my tummy and that doesn’t happen enough in books I read! LOVED IT!
