SUNDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! LAUREN BLAKELY’S LATEST JUST WENT LIVE EARLY!!! Unbreak My Heart <— They once broke each other’s hearts, and now she’s back but he’s not the same guy anymore… ➔➔➔➔
“…There’s so much I have to put back in place now that I’m alone and on my own. Things I never wanted at the age of twenty-five. When I receive an unexpected letter that might hold the clues to everything I desperately need to understand about my family, I’m sure I have to follow it. But that means leaving her once more.
She says she’ll come with me, and having her by my side will unbreak my heart . . . or destroy it.”
Happy FRIDAY!!!!!!! It’s time for our list (although it’s still a work in progress. I’ll be updating it all day). And finally one of our fellow readers read one of our 5-star favorites (below) and we are sqeeeeeeing for her. She. Flipped. OUT!!!! YAY MELINDA!! 😉
P.S. Wow… today, there are a few super-recommendations that made us delightfully furious and hooked us good. You’ll see, with the reader recommendations how hard they affected us. Consider them MUST-READS!!!
TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT WE FOUND FOR THE WEEKEND !!
- Not So Nice Guy by R.S. Grey <— LIVE!!! R.S. GREY ALERT!! He’s “just” her best friend… “…Just Ian is…just my best friend. We’re extremely close, stuck so deep inside a Jim-and-Pam-style friendzone everyone at work assumes we’re a couple—that is until one day, word spreads through the teacher’s lounge that he’s single. Fair game. Suddenly, it’s open season on Ian. He should be reveling in all the newfound attention, but to our mutual surprise, the only attention he seems to want is mine...”
Arsen. A broken love story by Mia Asher <— Melinda FINALLY read it and FREAKED OUT!!!!
Melinda: I just have to share. I am reading a book so good, let me emphasise soo good. I dont know how I have never read it before. Nay recommended it for me. It’s called ARSEN. I can’t do anything this book is consuming me. Everyone needs to read Arsen if they haven’t read it already.
Amy: *bites fist and quietly squeals* *giddily waits for the onslaught of SQUEEEEEEES from our Arsen-loving crew over Melinda’s comment*
Julie O: Isn’t ARSEN the book where she had that wonderful husband?
Grey: *squeeeeee* Told you so, told you so, told you so! *Grabs Maryse, Amy, Nay and Ela and dances in a little circle* ohhh, Arsen!
Melinda: WHY DIDNT YOU GRAB ME EARLIER AND TELL ME HOW GOOD IT WAS. GREY,YOU EVEN HAD A PFM AND DIDNT PICK IT. I really thought, I had read it. But no, I’ve never read this book. Yes, she does have the most gorgeous husband. And I want to take her down.
Maryse: OMG YAYYYYYY!! Another Arsen addict. Doesn’t matter WHEN that book was released, it still has THAT effect on those that just read it for the first time. I LOVE THAT!!!!!!!
Melinda: 10 big stars.. To be honest. It has been mentioned a lot. But I was sure I had read it. But no, I hadn’t. Thank you Nay. I think I was pulling my hair out at the end. Or I was going to punch Cathy out. And Grey, you must have mentioned 10 times how good it was. That’s exactly my kind of book. I just have to listen more closely next time. Still love ya.
Michelle G: I loved Arsen too – although I’m pretty sure I also wanted to take her out back and slap her around a bit!
Amy: Loved Arsen. LOVED it. “I’m afraid.” GAH!!!!
The Consequences Series Box Set by Aleatha Romig <— DARK READ ALERT!!! LOOKIT WHAT I JUST ONE-CLICKED!!! Aleatha Romig’s entire “Consequences” series is BUNDLED & SUPER-BARGAIN priced right now!!! Lots of love/hate for one of the main characters in this series, so beware. 😉 I read the first two, and I was incensed!! I didn’t finish the series (even though I was hooked – it’s addictive) but maybe now I’m ready…
Grey: Consequences is not for the faint of heart… a strong constitution is needed… I threw my kindle at one point *blush*
Leslie M: Man, I wish I had a BR for when I read Consequences. That series gave me ulcers. (in a good way) … As much as I loved Consequences series, I have never read Beyond the Consequences book #5. Got to put on the big girl panties for this one.
Tessa: I read Consequences. (Boy was I swearing a blue streak at Tony!) …Consequences… I never forgave him. LOVED the series, but I never forgave him. I’m weird like that. I may hate the H/h but still love the book.
Anne: I loved the Consequences series! It was so so amazing! Highly recommend it!
Sharon: I have been devouring the Consequences series. I forgot who recommended it (THANK YOU) – but after book 1, I am hooked – and maybe even like Tony a teeny tiny bit.
Leslie M: It’s funny because when I read Consequences series I not only ignored my family, but I couldn’t sleep or eat or bathe. 😉
Cristina: I spent the weekend with the Consequences series. Definitely one of the most mentally and emotionally taxing reading experiences of my life. It was the most unpredictable love story I have ever read. This series shocked me and twisted my tummy over, and over, and over again. I say “love story” lightly. This series is not for the faint at heart. If you like an easy love story or an easy hero/heroine, run far, far away from this series. Is it dark? The first book yes. But after that, it was more emotional than anything else. I would call it a psych thriller. One quality I look for in my hero, in a dark series, is redemption. That’s what makes it a love story for me. It’s here, but it doesn’t come easy. I wasn’t sure after book #1 it was even possible for me, by Romig’s superior writing got me there. This series is going to stay with me for a while. These kinds of feels don’t go away easily. It’s time for a glass of wine and a light read. Phew! I’m brushing the sweat off of my forehead. Well done Aleatha Romig! Well done indeed!
- Imprisoned: Brides of the Kindred 22 by Evangeline Anderson <— LIVE!! EVANGELINE ANDERSON’S LATEST!!!
- The Man in Black: A Standalone Mafia Romance (Chicago Syndicate Book 9) by Soraya Naomi <— MAFIA ROMANCE ALERT!! Nay found us this one!!
Nay: Maryse–I almost forgot–could you please add a new release for today to the list? It’s The Man in Black by Soraya Naomi, a standalone in the Chicago Syndicate mafia series. Thanks!
Bayside Heat (Bayside Summers Book 3) by Melissa Foster <— LIVE!! MELISSA FOSTER ALERT!! “…Serena has always had big dreams. As a teenager she dreamed of becoming an interior designer and marrying smart, musically inclined, sexy-as-sin Drake Savage. Now she’s finally landed a killer job with a top interior design firm, but though she has spent the last four years working side by side with Drake, he’s never made a move. Four years is long enough for her to accept reality, and her new job in Boston is the perfect way to move on. A weak moment leads to sizzling, sensual kisses, opening a door through which they’ve both been aching to walk…”
INK: A Love Story on 7th and Main by Elizabeth Hunter <— ELIZABETH HUNTER SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!! Kat found it for us!! She wants to sell books in his tattoo shop… “…Unusual? Yes. But a book shop/tattoo studio might be the ticket for both Emmie and Ox to find success on their own terms. As long as they keep their attention focused on business. Just on business…”
Kat: On sale… I absolutely loved this authors PNR looking forward to diving in
MichelleS: “Ink” is calling to me… LOVE Elizabeth Hunter’s writing (one of my favorite series is her Elemental Mysteries series)… and the H’s name is OX!
- Blood Type (Blood Type Book 1) by K.A. Linde <— K.A. LINDE VAMPIRE ROMANCE SUPER-BARGAIN!!! (Tessa enjoyed this one!!) “…A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.”
Tessa: If you want to read Blood Match, you HAVE to read Blood Type first. The first was really good, so I’m hoping the second is even half that.
Web of Lies Series & Forever Bluegrass Series by Kathleen Brooks <— READER RECOMMENDATION!! Theresa recommends these!!
Theresa: I am sending this email to recommend Kathleen Brooks’ stories. I just started reading her books this year. The Forever Bluegrass series have been fun and really good. The completed Web of Lies series is quite apropos given the current political climate.
- Mr. Buff: A Flaming Romance by Milly Taiden <— LIVE!! They spy on each other… “Every morning, Alexandra drinks in the sexy vision of Mr. Buff through his office window across the alleyway. He takes his workouts seriously, and Alexandra never misses the opportunity to see him return half-naked, sweaty and pumped, to his office suite to shower. But when Alexandra bumps into Mr. Buff, aka Andrew Carter, at a club, things go from visual to physical. Turns out Andrew enjoys the view from his office just as much as she does from hers…”
The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty <— 5-STAR SUPER-SALE ALERT!!! Another one of my favorites from a few years ago is on sale today!! Here’s my 5-star review.
Jean: Just finished The Husband’s secret and loved it.
Maryse: I read her “The Husband’s Secret” and it TOO hd multiple POV’s but they were SO warranted, since they all culminate into the WHOLE story once the end is revealed… even the strangers. So multiple POVs work and make things so gooooood…
Ela: I read my husband’s secret and it was super angsty and twisty! There are lots of turns and characters…
Leave Before He Kills You by Juliette Duncan <— SHE HAD TO LEAVE HIM… “When his face grew angry, I knew he could murder… That face drove me and my three young daughters to flee across Australia. I doubted he’d ever touch the girls, but if I wanted to live and see them grow, I had to do something…“
- The Renegades Series by Rebecca Yarro <— SUPER-BARGAIN SALE ON ALL of this series (and more of her books) and Kathy LOVED them!
Kathy: all of Rebecca Yarro’s books are on sale for $.99 for 2 days only. Her Renegade Series about extreme stunt sport performers is one of my favorite series.
- Dancing in the Dark by T.L. Martin
- SCAR: A Dark Military Romance by Loki Renard
- Dash (Marked Skulls MC Book 5)
- Broken Glamour (Glamour Series Book 2) by Maggie Marr
That Guy by Belle Brooks <— SHE SIGNS UP FOR A DATING SERVICE… “…She signs up to a new dating service that pairs you statistically to the one you’re supposed to love. Finding it — love that is — using the more conventional methods, has not been a successful venture for Mindy, and with her biological clock ticking, she uses a more desperate method and takes the plunge into a possible happily ever after. The thing is, when she boards the boat to a secret location, she doesn’t realise the man waiting for her is someone she’s previously met…’
- Blocked (Gold Hockey Book 1) by Elise Faber <— LIVE!! FIRST FEMALE GOALIE!!
Beneath Series by Meghan March <— BINGE READ ALERT!! Kathy is LOVING them!!
Kathy: Oh and I just read the first three books in the Beneath the Ink Series by Meghan March. Why did I wait so long to read these books? I binge read them over vacation and am now on the 4th book.
Christina: Meghan March’s books just sucked me right in I literally locked myself in my room and let the hubby handle the kids!
Dirty Halo by Evie East <— LIVE!!! HER ROYAL STATUS FEELS LIKE A PRISON “…when the entire royal family is killed in a deadly attack, the line of succession swiftly changes course. With her ailing father appointed king and no legitimate heirs in sight, Emilia is pulled from the shadows and thrust into a destiny she never wanted. If this were a fairy tale, the palace would be paradise. In reality, with a father she barely knows on the throne, a deadly assassin still on the loose, and enemies around every gilded corridor corner — the callous, captivating Lord Carter Thorne chief among them — it feels more like a prison to Emilia…”
- Kiss My Ash by Leddy Harper
Crushed by Jennifer K. Thomas <— LIVE!! SINGLE MOM STARTING OVER… “...Determined not to get hurt again and to protect her young daughter, she struggles to move past the pain and regain her confidence. Luke Taylor thought he got over Jessica a long time ago. After ten years apart, he certainly didn’t expect to still be drawn to her like this. Even though their relationship ended in heartbreak, he can’t stop thinking about her and all the what-ifs...”

Morning! *Tosses glitter and confetti* ~ cuz’ it’s Friday!!
Thanks, Maryse, for being awesome!!! ❤
Thank you, Grey for hanging out with us!!! And being our Glitter Queen!!!! ❤
Good morning! Happy, happy Friday!! It’s so rainy here, but at least it’s not hot!
Good morning! Why am I covered with glitter and confetti?? 😉
You know what I just realized? Although I dislike “death” books, I seem like “dead spouse” stories. You know, where the h or H finds love again but the death happened off page/before story. Even better when the new love interest is forbiddeny.
Morning! Currently trying to sample Heart of the Fae by Emma Hamm. Won’t have time to really try it out though until this afternoon. *sigh*
GOOD MORNING LOVELIES!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Ela, are you recovered from retreat?
Tasha, how is our blog baby?
He’s a growing boy, Leslie. He has tubby little legs and I smooch him all day long. He spits at me when he’s preturbed. *pthu pthu pthu* LoL and he likes laughing and talking to the fan more than me. He has a strong little grip and enjoys yanking on my hair or blankets. He’s an ultimate sleep fighting champion. But, he’s started only getting up once during the nights. He’s a generally happy, if not demanding, little baby. The last couple weeks he put me through a ton of stress by fighting every single bottle. I ended up taking him to the doctor and switching his bottles and warming them now. Well, sometimes warming, when he’s being particular. I still don’t know what all that was about, but I got 2 massive canker sores over it. (They come with major stress) Almost 14lbs now and will be 3 months in 6 days.
Happy Friday!
Awww Tasha, our blog baby…. thanks for the update!
I’m still binge reading the Driven series by K. Bromberg…… it’s so freaking great!
I love that Melinda is freaking out over Arsen….. and haven’t we been trying to find books like it for years now without any real success???
Thanks Maryse!!!! You are the best!
Remember when I said I was getting a printer over Prime day? And I had never bought one before and had no idea what I was doing? Well I got one, put a ton of thought into it reading reviews and what not. My brother comes over after I tell him it’s too hard to set up (he says it written so easy any dummy can do it *rolls eyes*) takes a look and says, holy crap! What did you get?!! Apparently I got like, a commercial grade printer or something. You should’ve seen his eyes inspecting that thing. He told me to send it back, ordered me a new one, and I still can’t set the dumb thing up Bc I need to upgrade to Windows 10, back up my hard drive to a usb drive (also never bought and don’t have 1). I tell you, this is a kerfuffle. I’m still living in the 90s, early 2000s when you go to Kmart and buy computer programs in a box.
OMG, Tasha! I can’t believe he’s already almost 3 months!
My grandson is scheduled to be delivered on 9/18. He’s breech, so they’re not taking any chances. And he’s already huge (she has 6 weeks left and he’s already 5-1/2 lbs), so they scheduled it a week before her original due date. They’re naming him Waylon and he has a Harley Davidson nursery (I think I mentioned that his dad is in an MC).
Love Waylon Jennings voice. The Outlaws album is so good.
Leslie, Ela was a very good girl. I don’t even have any incriminating evidence to use against her. 🙄 Here are the pics for anyone who’s interested. I didn’t take hardly any since my phone died on me the first night. These are everyone else’s. Warning: the winning naughty scenes are on this page too and they are NSFW! https://www.robinhillwrites.com/retreat.html
Happy Friday, ladies!!
I’m reading Someone Else’s Ocean, and it’s making me miss living on an island. I even told hubby last night if the opportunity to go back comes up, he has to take it. Period. Because I said so. I will sell this house in a heartbeat and pack up and move. *sigh* Although, moving all my nail polish will be tricky since the movers don’t like to touch things like that… 😕
Amy pack up and move to the Island of Florida. Well… not the Keys, though. Like near me. Tampa. 🙂
OH! By the way…about My Oxford Year. Finished it, and it was really, REALLY good. I didn’t cry (although I did get teary-eyed a couple of times) and the ending was bittersweet but lovely. No angst, but a couple of tense moments.
Verdict: DEFINITELY worth reading, but I would recommend waiting for it to go on sale.
Omg there was a little spermy! Hahaha. Love the pics R! That water looks so relaxing and the food looked yummy too.
Nay, how exciting!! I love the name Waylon and it sounds like it fits perfectly with his theme and his daddy’s crew. I hope she has an easy and safe delivery!
Nay, I think I missed you mentioning about baby’s dad being in an MC. How adorable to do his nursery in such a fitting theme! Awwwww, first a blog baby and now a blog grandbaby.
And to carry over the warm and fuzzies from the last post…I love us. This group. Our conversations. Our support. Our banter. Our chatter. Even if I don’t respond to each and every post, I still read and cherish EACH AND EVERY POST. Love you all.
This just came up on a playlist.
Just love her.
True original.
https://youtu.be/7NX9UuRyt0E
And read Dumplin.
Thanks, Tasha and Amy! And I agree with you completely about our group here, Amy!
My son got one of these today. And I’m hooked on this YouTube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w5ZHMwIzvY
Happy Friday everyone (and happy Saturday to my fellow southern hemisphere ladies!)
Oh wow, can’t believe the Consequences series is only .99c! Such a great price for an AMAZING series! Highly recommend it!
I finished Not So Nice Guy yesterday-ish and it was a really good, solid rom-com. I was swooning and chuckling the whole way through.
I really need to start on Arsen… I’ve had it on my kindle for years but still haven’t worked up the courage. Bawk bawk.
Arsen:
You purchased this item on December 1, 2013.
Yeah, really need to start it =X
LOL Jen. Yep I’ve got a few books like that. Bought and paid for AGES AGO but for one reason or another still haven’t read them. Ha ha ha. Oh well, I’ll get to them one day……
Tasha and Nay thanks for the baby updates. Love to hear all that stuff. I now have a second grandchild due in January. It’s another boy. I’m pretty excited!!!!! His big brother Logan will be 3.
It’s a rainy day here today too. I’m going to stay inside and do some packing. On Thursday I’m heading up to the Romance Writers of Australia Conference in Sydney. I’ve never been before. I’m pretty excited about that too!!!! Gotta get my frocks and shoes picked out.
Congrats, Jan! And have fun at the conference–that’ll be a blast!
Hopefully this will be my only grandchild for a while. This is hubs’ 28 year old daughter from his first marriage, but I love her like my own and helped raise her as my own. My boys are still 17, 19, and 21, so I’m fine waiting a while for them to have any.
From what everyone says you are going to fall head over heels in love, Nay.
All grandmas tell me it’s just different…..even my own mom about my niece. Like we get it she is the favorite, LOL.
Jan, that sounds really fun. And congrats on the baby to be.
Happy friday!! Busy day and just checking comments. Thanks Maryse for another great list!! I seriously don’t know what I would be reading without Maryse and everyone here!!
Tasha- he sounds adorable. Can’t believe it’s 3 months. Hopefully his sleeping will continue to improve for you.
Nay congrats on your first grandchild.
Now to get to bed. Have to be up early to go listen to my daughter’s case presentation from her forensic science program she did this summer. Can’t wait!!!
Oh yeah bev. I fell in love with my first grandson in one second flat. I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly and easily, but first sight/hold of him and bam! I was a goner. It’s quite an amazing feeling. One of life’s special joys. I’m excited in advance for you, Nay!
Am excited about the new Megan March book RICHER THAN SIN coming out. Of course it is a trilogy so big decision? Do I read as they come out or wait for all of them all happy on my kindle?
I want a grandkid. Wish my daughter would get busy and get me one. I don’t even care if she is married or not. Keep dropping hints. I want one before I have to use a walker!!!
Wow Nay, congrats. I so don’t want to be a grand mother. It makes me feel old. My eldest daughter is 23years. And I joke with them, when they have child I’m not going to be called Nana, no , I’m going to be called Melinda.
Hahaha, they get so upset when I say that. But they are all still studying so hopefully I have a little longer yet.
But, I’m having trouble getting into a book after Arsen. But I feel famous with Maryse’s comments. Hahaha.
Jen, you really have read Arsen, just for that experience.
Leslie, I don’t really like death books either. So I’m with you.
Robin, your retreat looked lovely. The photos are so nice.
Tasha, the fighting the bottle thing would have freaked me out…thank goodness he is at a healthy weight.
Nay, does your step-daughter live near you? How awesome to have a grandbaby on the way.
Robin, the retreat looked fabulous! I wish I was basking in that water. (Did I see a real live Merman??)
Amy, have you lived in exciting places due to hubs military career? and… of course, THIS GROUP ROCKS!!
EVERYONE should read Dumplin’. On the “body image” theme, I watched I Feel Pretty last night. A little too chick lit for hubs, but I liked it.
Jan, have a great time at conference! (“frocks” *giggles*) There have been a few romance events near me, but I have never gone. 🙁 I don’t have anyone to go with.
Jen, I have sooooo many oldies, its not even funny. This month I am going to tackle one. Beauty from Pain by Georgia Cates.
Cheryl, you must be so proud of your daughter.
Julie, wait til all books are out. 😉
Julie & Melinda, you guys made me laugh about the grandchildren.
Good Morning! *** throws wet glitter cause it’s raining all day in North Texas ***
I finished Beautiful Player last night after many recommendations. I liked it. There was so much sex. Don’t get me wrong, I like sex, but, it was the majority of the book. Run… sex… run… sex…. eat… run… sex. It was all about their crazy sexual chemistry. But it wasn’t a DNF, so there’s that.
Now I need Fantasy, STAT.
OMG. Another Blog Baby! Yay! His name is Waylon & his dad is in a MC, and he has a Harley themed nursery!?!? This is as good as a KA or Sheehan book. But better. Yippee. That ROCKS.
Michelle, I didn’t love Beautiful Player either.
*hides behind peanut deflecting shield*
Yes Leslie, that was a real live merman! And the water was heaven!
So I do not like clothes shopping and I hated (with a passion) back to school shopping.
But I still get the urge to buy new clothes this time of year, lol.
And though i still do not like clothes shopping I do think there can be a bit of a self care aspect.
Meant to mention, Robin, beautiful pics. So envious of the water time. Looked like a lot of fun. 😉
*snorts into cup of coffee after reading Michelle’s description of Beautiful Player*
*wipes wet glitter away*
I love this blog. Somebody or somebodies always makes me smile.
Michelle have you read Dannika Dark’s Seven series? You might like. The *other* Michele on GR just read and liked the first book. I don’t mean cos you’ve got the same name LOL LOL LOL but you need fantasy and I was thinking about that series.
Season 2 Mrs. Maisel’s coming soon, eeepp!!! Be on the lookout, those who’ve watched. And those who haven’t, check out season 1!
MichelleS! Did you ever finish A Demon Bound by Debra Dunbar? That series is good. If not that, A Vampire’s Kiss by Ella Summers is fast becoming a favorite of mine. Just finished a fairy book. I liked it, but it wasn’t WOW, more cute. It had a lot of snark and humor, along with action. The first book is A Box of Frogs by Helen Harper.
Something definitely unique and fantasy is Secondborn by Amy Bartol. 🙂 I really liked that series, and am waiting with bated breath for the last of the trilogy. (I think it will be anyway?)
I’ll download the samples, Tessa! I ended up going into my “2016 TBR” file on my Kindle, and started Nolander. No clue why I never got to it. Interesting so far.
I’m almost finished “My Oxford Year” and I AM LOVING IT. And I am SO going to ugly cry. Ugh… right in front of my family. 😉
Also, I’m sad that they’re leaving in a few days, so that doesn’t help.
*sigh*
Maryse, I loved the h’s voice and how she was strong and confident enough to handle the type of relationship they had. No unnecessary drama, no unnecessary angst (surprisingly, I do believe there can be that type of angst), just well-written and believable characters dealing with real life stuff.
And the ending…ohhhhhh, the ending. No ugly cry for me (although I was teary-eyed) but it was so incredibly bittersweet.
PSA: Is everyone sitting down??? Ok, I just read and reviewed a 5 star YA!! Guys, it was brilliant. I absolutely loved it. It comes out on Tuesday, 8/14/18. The Raging Ones by Krista and Becca Ritchie. I know that there are a couple of you that have read and loved a few other books that the Ritchie sisters have written before… well, this may appeal to other types of readers as it is Sci-Fi in nature… but not fantastical, Last Hour of Gann type of Sci-Fi, 😆 I’m floating on a fluffy 5 star cloud.
Oooh, sounds great Grey!
Ooh… Grey…. a new shiney! Come on Tuesday!
Maryse, I triiiiiiiiiiied!! But remember? Hubby wasn’t pleased about them sending him there. He was a party pooper. 🙁
