Oooooh FRIDAY THE 13th!! But no worries, today is proof that it isn’t bad luck, ’cause look at the awesome book-luck we have! Awesome sounding new releases, and some adamant recommendations! ;) P.S. I’m still adding on to the list as we speak, so it’s not officially done yet.

Also, I’m doing my best not to read the review copy of All Your Perfects: A Novel by Colleen Hoover that’s going live in just a few days, ’cause I wanna buddy-read with our book-crew. BUT OMG is it HARD not to jump in yet. Tee hee!!!

Sharon: I’m in a slump. I just finished the What He Doesn’t Know duet and I’m ruined. That was the best angst I’ve had in YEARS. Right up there with Kellan and Kiera angst (hmmmmm – maybe a re-re-re-re-re-read is in my future). The first book really delved into only Charlie and Reese POVs – then out of nowhere we get Cameron. I didn’t know who to root for. But really, there was no rooting because someone was going to be devastated. This truly was an ugly triangle that you just know would hurt any way it ended. I cried when she made her choice.
  • The Solemn Vow: A love story told from rock bottom by Bree Dahlia <— LIVE!!! OH THIS SOUNDS SUPER-STRESSFUL-ANGSTY!!!!! Just the way I love ‘em1 “My first love ruined me. My second love saved me. I used to believe in for better or worse. I used to believe in forsaking all others. But now my husband is no longer the man I married. And the man who took away my fairy tale wants to give it back. The one who broke me has become my lifeline. The one who fixed me has become my toxin…”
Stephanie: It sounds like my cup of tea ;)  Just 1clicked! Thanks
  • The Rule Breaker by Cat Carmine <— LIVE!!! THIS ONE SOUNDS LIKE FUN!!! SHE’S AN ADVICE COLUMNIST AND A RULE FOLLOWER… and then she broke ‘em after a one night stand… “…Now I’ve got even bigger problems, though. Because it turns out that wasn’t just some random guy. It was Tyler Grant. Rich. Playboy. Devastatingly gorgeous. Oh, and the publisher of my new dating advice book. All my instincts are telling me to run like hell. It’s what I’d advise anyone else to do. But nope. I’ve had a taste, and I’m hooked. Now I’m calling him at ungodly hours and showing up at his house drunk and begging for sex and tacos. In other words, breaking every rule in my own damn book…”
  • Drive by Kate Stewart <— ONE OF OUR 5-HUGE STARS FAVORITES is on super-sale right now!!! (thank you Amy!!) IN fact, here’s my review.

Linda: Finally put my big girl panties on and went all in and read Drive!! Fell in love with every single character. Amazing work Kate Stewart!!!

Teri: Just finished “Drive” oh my… I need a hug. I need a martini. I feel like I was hit by a Mack truck and now what am I going to read… Holy Me Oh My Oh, what a great, great, great, great, great (that’s 5-greats) book. When I first saw it popping up on this blog I thought ‘maybe’ but the gushing just never ended and I’m SO happy I jumped in on the “Drive” train. Thanks everyone for all great suggestions & gushes :-) .

Kim: Hi Maryse,  I have never known an actual author before, but this gal is delightful.  She has published her first Historical Romance Novel.  It comes out tomorrow.  I am hoping you can give her a shout out as I think she is going to be a great one.  She is a Wisconsin gal, growing up in a resort area and have known her for at least 12 years.  I read the first few chapters and am hooked  “In the Assassin’s Arms (Dagger of Desire Book 1) Kindle Edition,by Katherine Hastings.
  • The Tycoon: The King Family Book One by M. O’Keefe  <— LIVE!! MOLLY O’KEEFE’S LATEST! HE BROKE HER HEART and now she needs his help… “Five years ago, Clayton Rorick loved me. Or so I thought. Turned out he only wanted to get his hands on my daddy’s company. Heartbroken, I ran away with nothing but the clothes on my back. Like a twisted Cinderella. When my father dies, leaving my sisters in a desperate situation, it’s up to me to help them.  I’ll have to beg the man who broke my heart to save us.”
  • Hating You, Loving You by Crystal Kaswell <— Melinda enjoyed it!
Melinda: I just finished Hating you, Loving you. I really enjoyed it. But it was very slow until about half way.
  • Bad Habits Box Set by Staci Hart <— LIVE!!! STACI HART BOOK BUNDLE SUPER-SALE!!! ”*This box set includes three full length, bestselling novels, plus an exclusive epilogue novella.* Six best friends. Three love stories. One big city. Countless laughs.”
  • Claiming the Dragon King: The Elite Guards Novel by Amelia Hutchins <— TOTAL JERK-FACE ALERT & WE HAVE FEEDBACK!!! Tessa LOVED it!!!

Tessa: Finished Claiming the Dragon King. Loved it. :)

MichelleS: Finished Claiming The Dragon King. Man, he was hard to love. Total jerk-face. Wanted to slap him around. But that’s why I read this stuff, right?? Great addition to this super sexy series.

  • The Marriage Pact: A Novel by Michelle Richmond <— PSYCH THRILLER ALERT!! Amy also found us this one! Oooooh it MUST be mine!! They’re a happily married couple and they receive an invitation… “...The goal of The Pact seems simple: to keep marriages happy and intact. And most of its rules make sense. Always answer the phone when your spouse calls. Exchange thoughtful gifts monthly. Plan a trip together once per quarter. . . . Never mention The Pact to anyone. Alice and Jake are initially seduced by the glamorous parties, the sense of community, their widening social circle of like-minded couples. And then one of them breaks the rules…”
Amy: Also, The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond is on sale… normally 11.99! And boy, does it sound like it could be intense.
  • The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning <— STILL ROCKING OUR PARANORMAL ROMANCE WORLDS!!
Kerri: Ok, just ripped through the fever series and definitely want more, High Voltage (Fever) left me needing more Barron’s and Mac but stayed engrossed without them. Moning did leave it wide open to keep the series going. Any idea Maryse, if she plans on adding more?

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

  • AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <— This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

Good Morning! I’ve been up snuggling the baby and reading Beautiful Player since 5 this morning. I’m so tired, I should’ve gone back to bed, but it’s so hard to stop reading a good book! Now only if I can get coffee delivered to me… :P

Amy July 13, 2018 at 6:56 AM

Heh, maybe there won’t be any bad luck but Friday the 13th and full moons (we don’t have one tonight, right? RIGHT?!?) seem to bring out the odd ones. And dealing with the odd ones in my line of work is awkward at best, LOL!

I’m still enjoying the heck out of Playing With Monsters, but why in books like this are they always hissing and growling when they speak to each other?

Happy Friday everyone!! :D

Amy July 13, 2018 at 6:57 AM

*fires up the Keurig*

How do you take your coffee, Tasha dear?

Leslie M July 13, 2018 at 6:59 AM

*hands steaming coffee to Tasha *

Good morning! I feel out of sorts. Not sure why….maybe I have been too busy & overwhelmed. Its like I have been chasing my tail. Always running but not accomplishing anything.

Anyway, I am reading one of Paula’s faves right now (More Than This by Jay McLean) and it is good so far, but quite depressing. I am hoping for swoon soon.

Cheryl July 13, 2018 at 7:37 AM

Happy Friday!!! Finally found a long dress for a black tie wedding. Now to have it hemmed… can’t decide if want to take it to Nordstrom’s- only have $20 left in alterations rewards (used the majority to have my daughter’s Prom dress hemmed) or take it to local tailor, who I know will be cheaper. Decisions, decisions.

Cheryl July 13, 2018 at 7:51 AM

Tasha, reminded me of the one book where the h moved her coffee maker to the bedroom. Not a bad idea. *hands Tasha a cold foam cappuccino*

Leslie M July 13, 2018 at 8:32 AM

Oooh, a coffee station in the bedroom is a good idea. I’d love waking up to fresh coffee brewing. The coffee pot could be the alarm clock.

Tasha J July 13, 2018 at 9:07 AM

Which book is that from? It sounds really familiar. Thank you all for the multiple coffees, I’m totally set for the rest of the day. More proof Friday the 13th is a lucky day! :) I usually just take it with cream.

Amy July 13, 2018 at 9:44 AM

Also, The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond is on sale for 2.99, normally 11.99! And boy, does it sound like it could be intense.

Ela July 13, 2018 at 11:22 AM

BUDDY READ SPOILER THREAD IS ALL SET UP FOR Your Perfects: A Novel by Colleen Hoover!~!!!!!!!!!!!! SO JOIN IN!!!!!!

Maryse July 13, 2018 at 11:24 AM

AWESOME DEALS AMY!!! I’m adding them. YAY!!! :D

Robyn July 13, 2018 at 11:25 AM

Going from the Del Coranado to a Marriott is depressing. I was in heaven at The Del, sipping cocktails on the beach watching the sunset, sitting on my patio sipping another cocktail, slipping into my comfy bed in my high thread count sheets and waking up to a Starbucks steps from my door. Pure heaven! They even welcomed me with my name on the tv. But, the dream ended and now I’m at the Marriott with everyone else. Sigh

Anyways, still having fun on my Cali vacay. In Ventura today. Just, wanted to check in and say hi to you all!

Sharon F July 13, 2018 at 11:42 AM

I’m still in a slump.

Amy July 13, 2018 at 12:41 PM

Also Maryse, not sure if you saw my post yesterday but Always by Sarah Jio and Dumplin’ (one of bev’s recs) are still on sale!

Stacey July 13, 2018 at 12:47 PM

OMG!!! Do the happy dance…Pepper Winters announced that she might be working on a spin-off of the Ribbon Duet called “The Son and his Hope”…..I absolutely cannot wait :) !!!!

bev July 13, 2018 at 12:54 PM

I do love Dumplin. So did Michelle S.
It’s charming, touching, and funny. You know we like the funny banter here.

bev July 13, 2018 at 12:58 PM

Ok, is it weird that I fall down the Kdrama and Kpop rabbit holes to obsession and I share it all with you, but not the people in my real life.
Maybe because I share books with you all.
Like I’m (half serious) want to go to a concert next year and am trying to convince you all but not one of my friends I actually see, lol.

Tessa July 13, 2018 at 1:07 PM

Leslie, it does get better and happier. It’s HEA guaranteed. :)

For all those scared of the Fever series, High Voltage answered a LOT of questions still unanswered at the end of Feversong and the rest of the series does explain Burned, but that one especially.

bev July 13, 2018 at 1:50 PM

Oh, Sharon F……I feel you.

Do you watch kdrama?

Sharon F July 13, 2018 at 4:14 PM

Be. – what in heavens is kdrama? Asking for a friend.

Leslie M July 13, 2018 at 5:00 PM

I loved Dumplin’ too and I am VERY picky about YA.

Thanks Tessa for telling me I can expect some happy in More Than This. Its a tough one. *side eyes Paula*

Jan July 13, 2018 at 5:46 PM

*gratefully accepts a steaming mug of coffee from Amy*

Guess what just rolled into my kindle this morning? (it’s already Sat 14th here). The new Susan Fanetti! Hooray! Simple Faith, first in a NEW SERIES. The Pagano Brothers. Related to the Pagano Family series obvs. I know what I’m doing today…….

*cracks cover of kindle and settles down, sipping coffee*

bev July 13, 2018 at 6:31 PM

Sharon, k dramas are Korean television shows. When I hit a major book slump last summer they became my new obsession. They usually feature a romance and all together around 16 to 20 eps. So they often times feel like a book with a distinct beginning, middle, and end. Also, they have tropes.

But beware it can be a slippery slope from dramas to skincare to Kpop, lol.

Speaking of it’s Friday…..let’s dance.

Sharon F July 13, 2018 at 7:23 PM

Thanks Bev! Not sure that will be my cup of tea – but I’ll try just about anything!

Bree July 13, 2018 at 7:56 PM

Thank you, Maryse!!! And I LOVED Drive – amazing book!

Maryse July 14, 2018 at 7:02 AM

We would be the coolest group of K-pop concert-goers ever!

Grey July 14, 2018 at 7:35 AM

*tossed confetti and glitter* holy cripes what a week! I’ve missed you all! P

MichelleS July 14, 2018 at 10:25 AM

The perfect girls weekend with the blog crew: watching kdrama, a coffee bar with a variety of creamers, doing facials & makeup on one another, dancing to k-pop, making martinis in a variety of flavors while reminiscing about our favorite bad boys pre-book slumps, and then T-P-ing Fabi’s house before we go to bed.

Tasha J July 14, 2018 at 10:38 AM

Hahaha, absolutely perfect Michelle!

bev July 14, 2018 at 11:11 AM

Poor Fabi.

MichelleS, is there a Korean town in Dallas and an H Mart?

We would be the best fans ever!

Have any of you heard of the V live app?

MichelleS July 14, 2018 at 11:28 AM

There IS a H-Mart and it is AWESOME! Bubble tea, Hello Kitty store, 45 billion potstickers, fish tanks full to the brim, who knew there were so many rice cookers? I love that place.

R. Renee July 14, 2018 at 11:33 AM

Guys, Adriana Locke declared today #IsabelDay and the indie romance community has banned together to perform small acts of kindness in her honor. Thought I’d let you know in case that woman behind you in Starbucks looks like she could use a free cup of coffee.

Tasha J July 14, 2018 at 11:39 AM

I finished Beautiful Player and I loooved it! I’m mad at myself for waiting so long to read it, but I swear it was one of those I thought I had. The only thing that irritated me a little was the conflict, but not enough to bother me too much.
Now I’m jumping into How to Walk Away.

Tasha J July 14, 2018 at 11:42 AM

Coincidentally, someone payed it forward to me today and I do want to return that goodness for someone else today. Wonderful idea!

bev July 14, 2018 at 12:29 PM

That is a really lovely thing R.

Amy July 14, 2018 at 12:33 PM

Great idea. I am always so grateful when I get the opportunity to help someone (and even more so when someone does the same for me), especially when it is random and spontaneous. And people who are hesitant to accept the help at first are usually more agreeable when I tell them to pay it forward.

I’m donating blood at work today and will fill out one of the cards here in Isabel’s honor.

bev July 14, 2018 at 2:08 PM

I and Love and You just came on ….I forgot how much I love this song.

Leslie M July 14, 2018 at 6:36 PM

Michelle, I like the sound of that girls weekend! Lets throw in some chocolate and have Maryse make us a pepperoncini pot roast and its perfect.

Jan July 14, 2018 at 7:01 PM

Tasha so glad you have joined the Beautiful Player bandwagon. It’s one of those must-reads. Terrific book.

Michelle, can I come to the gurrls weekend too? My makeup routine def needs updating. You can all try different makeup out on me if you wanna. No-one wants to see me dancing to kpop until after we’ve all had a few martinis though. Ha ha ha.

Cheryl July 14, 2018 at 10:00 PM

What a wonderful idea, loved the whole concept of random acts of kindness.

Sign me up for that girls weekend!!!

bev July 14, 2018 at 10:15 PM

It’s ok Jan I don’t dance either.

We will leave it to the 20 year old idols, lol.

bev July 14, 2018 at 10:22 PM

Ok one more song because I’ve been thinking of Goblin.
Maybe cause I watched it in winter and it is so HOT right now.
Way more chill. Love their voices. I love when voices go together so well.
Have a good night ladies.

I still want to hear your summer songs. Mine is still the same.

Leslie M July 15, 2018 at 7:17 AM

I guess I must be a true book nerd because instead of listening to music, I always go for my audiobooks!

But if I were throwing a party and wanted summer-ish music, I think I’d go for some Bob Marley, Iz & Jimmy Buffet to set the tone.

Tessa July 15, 2018 at 11:04 AM

Leslie, I listen to music ALWAYS. :) Especially when reading or doing anything creative. That’s probably why I watch very little TV. I’d rather listen to music than watch TV. Honest truth, the only thing I like more than reading and writing is singing, playing the piano, or making up songs. But stories and music? HEAVEN.

My summer song. This song just makes me so happy.

bev July 15, 2018 at 11:19 AM

Tessa, I remember being at the library with my big stack of books and the library checking out my huge stack of books and the librarian commenting on my love of reading.
And my mom agreeing but then stopping to say she can’t decide if I love books or music more.

bev July 15, 2018 at 11:32 AM

Nice. Though the video made me sad. I like his voice. The only Blue October song I’ve really know is Hate Me.

Maryse, you know I think of you when I listen to Havana now? The way I think if Tessa when I hear Issues.
Anyway one of the members of the kpop group I’m listening to did a cover of Havana. His English on it is so good.

I stumbled upon it and thought of you, lol.

Tessa July 15, 2018 at 1:01 PM

The video is sad, but the song itself isn’t. It makes me happy. It’s a song about that person you used to love, and are still good with and just hope they are happy and you’ll be a good friend to them if they need it. Now Hate Me… that song guts me every time I hear it. :) Especially the bridge at the end.

Until I saw your blue eyes crying,
And I held your face in my hand
And then I fell down yelling,
“make it go away!”
Just make a smile come back
And shine just like it used to be
And then she whispered,
“How can you do this to me?”

MichelleS July 15, 2018 at 1:14 PM

This has been on my summer playlist & im not sick of it yet…

MichelleS July 15, 2018 at 1:18 PM

Is Beautiful Player by C Lauren? Do you have to read others in series?

Grey July 15, 2018 at 1:46 PM

I did Michelle, because I’m OCD like that… but no, you don’t have to. Beautiful Player is by far, the best one in the series. My #1 by a mile. And… again, I stress… Will Sumner, is MINE!

bev July 15, 2018 at 2:33 PM

It is sad but I love that finally at the end of the song he talks of becoming a man and realizing all she did for him and how much she was hurt. When sings about how she needs to hate him in ways hard to swallow..

Country, I miss you. I never seem to listen to newer country anymore. It can bring me back to driving with my best friend in her pickup. Just driving around on long summer days.

I’m totally about the happy songs right now.

I stayed up late reading a book and then around the 70 % mark I skimmed it. I’m not sure why as it was good. Maybe because the tension didn’t feel like it was going anywhere?

Tessa July 15, 2018 at 2:52 PM

Oh I do love that that it is the culmination of the song, but it still guts me. I like country too, but right now, there isn’t anything really standing out. *shrugs* Music gets like that sometimes. Oh and loving this song too.

bev July 15, 2018 at 3:36 PM

I haven’t heard her before. I like that.
It is starting to storm so the music fit it.

I have so many Christina Lauren books……i need to read one, lol.
Bit today is going to be YA. Just need to decide which one. Leaning towards The Sun is Also a Star but maybe Stay Sweet.

Hey, look Maryse. A makeup tutorial by my favorite. See kpop:
Made for you.

bev July 15, 2018 at 3:38 PM

Tessa like that lyric in Bitter Sweet Symphony

Well I never pray,
But tonight I’m on my knees, yeah.
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah.
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now.
But the airwaves are clean and there’s nobody singing to me now.

Love that part.

Tessa July 15, 2018 at 3:52 PM

Same. I absolutely LOVE Bittersweet Symphony. It’s such a brilliant song, though I think like anyone who sees it, I can’t help but think of Cruel Intention’s ending. SUCH a great movie.

Jan July 15, 2018 at 6:09 PM

Michelle – you need to read Beautiful Player!! Yep, you can read it without reading the others. And yes, it is the best one in the series. Sweet nerdy girl and superhot player Will. * happy sigh*

I liked Beautiful Stranger as well. Lordy lordy that opening scene. *fans self* But BP is the best. I liked the final book in the series too, just called Beautiful. But I think you’d probably only really enjoy that final one if you’ve read the whole series. Just be aware, if you decide to go “all OCD” like Grey LOL and read them all, that the first book Beautiful Bastard is one of the less good ones IMHO.

bev, I’ve got no problem with dancing like a 20-year-old. It’s just the snickering and the side-eyeing from everyone else that can really hurt. *wipes away silent tear*

bev July 15, 2018 at 8:29 PM

Then get your groove on. We won’t laugh.

Amy July 15, 2018 at 9:14 PM

I’m about to get my groove on all over my hubby’s a$$…and not in a sexy time kind of way!!

I’m at a VERY intense part in Playing with Monsters, my heart is racing, my tummy is knotted up, I’m splotchy, and every 15 seconds he has to say something. He KNOWS me. He KNOWS when I’m reading. He KNOWS he shouldn’t interrupt me. But what does he do?

“I think I’ll get gas in the morning instead of this evening.”

Me: “Okay.” *goes back to reading*

“Wow, it’s warmer than I thought it would be today.”

Me: *sets down iPad* “Yep.” *picks it up again*

“We need to dust the ceiling fan blades.”

Me: *stops reading* “Okay, next weekend.” *starts reading again*

“What are chia seeds?”

Me: *googles chia seeds for him*

“Did you see that?” <—- points to scene from a movie we have both seen numerous times

Me: *sighs and rubs forehead*

“Babe, why aren’t you listening to me?”

Me: %&#$@%#$!!!!!!! <—- in my head, of course

What can I say, it’s hot and our AC is broken and I’m feeling bitchy and I just want to read but I feel like a jerk now because he has his feelings hurt.

bev July 15, 2018 at 10:09 PM

He wants your attention, lol.

Leslie M July 16, 2018 at 5:11 AM

I swear that hubs & son have nothing to say to me until the second I put my earbuds in to listen to audiobook. Grrrr!

Too bad it’s to hot to wear my “F*@# off I’m reading” socks. Hee hee

Cheryl July 16, 2018 at 8:52 PM

Awww. he wants the first version of groove on. ;)

I’ve been loving this song this summer.
