Happy Friday!! Some goodies on today’s list for the weekend, and… I forgot to do three things on Monday (I was too excited about Prime Day) so let’s do three things today!!!

1.) I ate my first square of Godiva Dark Chocolate 72% last night, and it was FABULOUS. By the way, I normally do not like dark chocolate, but I haven’t had a sweet thing in months, and it was heaven-sent. Also it’s dark, so it’s healthy right? ;)

2.) I’m almost finished Colleen Hoover’s latest “All Your Perfects” and I’m loving it. It totally blindsided me at one point. Review coming soon…

3.) My big Prime purchase was three more DNA kits (for my mom, sister and aunt that are coming to visit in just a couple of weeks).

  • Two Weeks Notice by Whitney G. <— THE LATEST BY WHITNEY G. IS LIVE!! SHE HATES HER ARROGANT BOSS & TRIES TO QUIT… “...That letter was rejected with his sexy, trademark smirk and an “I highly suggest you read the fine print of your contract…” So, I did. And now I’ve realized that unless I fake my death, poison him, or find a way to renegotiate my impossible contract, I’m stuck working under one of the cockiest and most ruthless bosses in New York. Then again, I thought that was the case until he called me late last night with an emergency proposition…”
  • Church. by Stylo Fantome <— STYLO FANTOME ALERT!! Ooooooooooooh book darkness!!! The latest by Stylo Fantome is LIVE!!! “…She would kill for him to love her. He just wants to kill. Maybe, if Emma Hartley prays hard enough, Church Logan can make both their wishes come true. Fuse, meet match.”
  • Exposed (Eagle Elite) by Rachel Van Dyken <— LIVE!! RACHEL VAN DYKEN ALERT!! And will only be available for ONE WEEK!!! “...All Tanit wants to do is make it through the school year without gaining any sort of attention. Until she gains his attention. He’s cruel. He’s beautiful. He’s everything she’s been warned to stay away from… Set 10 years into the Eagle Elite future, find out what’s happened to Eagle Elite University and make way for a new boss...”
  • Simple Faith (The Pagano Brothers Book 1) by Susan Fanetti <— LATEST BY SUSAN FANETTI IS LIVE!! Jan is excited about this release!
Jan: I’m excited about two new books coming I’ve only recently found out about. One is bk 1 of a new series by Susan Fanetti but connected to her Pagano family series. It’s called Simple Faith and it’s out on July 14th
  • Heart Stronger by Rachel Blaufeld <— SUPER-BARGAIN AND BRAND NEW GORGEOUS COVER ALERT!!! She’s still in mourning when he moves in next door… “...Claire is still mourning her losses when Aiken Fordham—who captivates her with his Mediterranean blue eyes and tanned skin—moves in right next door. Forcing Claire to face her fears, Aiken almost forgets his reason for moving to Small Town, Pennsylvania. Falling for the sexy, smart, and strong professor next door was never in the plan. But now it is… until their future intersects with their pasts.”
  • Defy (Sinners of Saint) by L.J. Shen <— FORBIDDEN ALERT!!
Debbie: L J Shen Defy is a forbidden romance about a bad boy 18 year old senior and a female teacher. It is a great short story!
DG: Had to stop reading this morning because I didn’t want to RUIN my makeup from BAWLING my eyes out! UGH! SO GOOD that I just had to put it down so I can SAVOR my crying jag later when I have time! Where One Goes by BN Toler. Maryse- have you read it?!? Lots of feels…
MichelleS: Ooh ooh ooh… guys… this book is doing it for me…, love her writing (B Cherry, Disgrace).
Marina: I just finished a cute, funny read if you’re interested in an lighthearted read… The Billionaire’s Wake-Up-Call Girl. Odd title and cover but really endearing, funny, office… read. Seem to be on a quest for these kind of reads lately. And avoiding the heavy emotional ones.

Carrie: Love this series!!!

Tessa: I LOVED How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire. I was on a huge vampire kick when it came out and that one was hilarious. I love most of what Kerrilyn Sparks writes.

  • Surrender (Harris Brothers Book 4) by Amy Daws <— LIVE!!! SINGLE MOM & A SOCCER STAR ALERT!! “…Sloan Montgomery is a clothing stylist whose world was turned upside down when she found herself pregnant and moving to Manchester with a man who was never supposed to be her forever. Now recently divorced and struggling with shared custody of her daughter, control is a fleeting concept for this American living in England. Both Gareth and Sloan are in need of a release…”
  • Shiver by Suzanne Wright <— Tessa FIVE-STAR LOVED IT!!
Tessa: Shiver was intense enough for me. Oh, and a total 5 star. AND! The hints were there and I didn’t guess the bad guy!!!!! That’s always a thrill. Mostly, though, the storytelling and real feel of the book got me. It never felt contrived at all. <3 I finsihed GW2 a little around ten last night, and thought, okay, read for ten-fifteen before sleeping. NOPE. Up until 1am. It was THAT GOOD!
  • Greyson (A Hell’s Harlem Novel) by J.M. Walker <— LIVE!!! BIKER BOOK ALERT! “...It started the moment she passed out in my arms. Seduction. Vile. Depraved. Desire. She couldn’t remember her past but looked to me like I was her future. My walls were built. My heart was cold. My emotions vacant. After being alone for five years with only my motorcycle club at my side, she was who I had been searching for. The one I had needed all along to light up the darkness surrounding my life. Just when I thought I had her, just when I thought I could finally allow myself that happiness I didn’t think I deserved. She was ripped from my hands…”
  • Strength (Curse of the Gods Book 4) by Jane Washington and Jaymin Eve <— LIVE!!
  • Rock Free (Rock Candy Book 6) by Virna DePaul <— LIVE!!
  • Above All (A Heart of the Adirondacks Novel) by Rebecca Brooks <— LIVE!!
  • Eye Contact by Stacey Grice <— I SAW THIS ONE RECOMMENDED ON MY FACEBOOK FEED!! She’s a surgeon……Another day, another surgery, another life saved. That is, until the night a certain car accident victim lands on her operating room table. The strange connection she feels with this particular patient impacts her in every way…”

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

  • AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <— This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

Where’s the Friday glitter?

Tasha J July 20, 2018 at 7:23 AM

Morning! I bought the Millionaire Vampire one just because u said it was awesome and funny, didn’t even read the blurb. I know I’ll need it after AYP (still finishing too!) Eye Contact sounds intriguing also. Fisher Amelie’s releasing Idle July 29th, I’ve got my eye on that one!
Yay for chocolate! I feel so sad for u on your diet. Every time I have carbs I think, poor Maryse doesn’t get to eat this anymore. I wouldn’t survive it. Carbs are life. :P

Maryse July 20, 2018 at 7:34 AM

Tasha i’ll NEVER forgot the Millionaire Vampire. The whole book was funny and so fun, but in the end, there’s a scene that had me cracking up HARD!!!

Maryse July 20, 2018 at 7:34 AM

*searches for Grey*

Glitter? But, but… it’s FRIDAY!!! GLITTER PLEASE!!!

Maryse July 20, 2018 at 7:35 AM

LOL Tasha. I know it… I miss pasta SO HARD. More than bread, more than potatoes… PASTA.

Ela July 20, 2018 at 8:39 AM

Ok so I”m going to vent! Remember that awesome Prime Day, well they sent me the wrong thing and then when I checked the order, sure enough it was the wrong item! Instead of the InstaPot they shoved Crock Pot on me, which wasn’t a deal just regular price! I didn’t check the original order because it was on my husband’s account (stupid me)! I called Amazon yesterday and stressed my disappointment so they are supposedly refunding me the money…we shall see.

Jean July 20, 2018 at 8:45 AM

Happy Friday!!!!

bev July 20, 2018 at 9:38 AM

I’m not sure I have 3 things.

I’ve got to think about this.

Tessa July 20, 2018 at 9:48 AM

I got Strength and am reading it today. Oh, and yep, I did read Knight. Ah well. It was memorable at least and I’ll be happy to re-read it when Strength isn’t staring me in the face.

Seriously, The Curse of the Gods series is the best reverse harem series out there.

I LOVED How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire. I was on a huge vampire kick when it came out and that one was hilarious. I love most of what Kerrilyn Sparks writes.

Alright, I have to say this. I canceled a pre-order (because I’ve been on the fence if I want it now or next month since I probably won’t read it this month). Then, I got Exposed. Eagle Elite… ten years later from where they are now… cruel bully, like the first book… MINE. I adore Elite even if it is OTT because of that bully factor, and she wrote another one? YEP. I did get the newsletter, but I signed up when it was over half done so I didn’t read it.

bev July 20, 2018 at 11:05 AM

3 things … know I have no self control, right?

1. Because it is beautiful:

bev July 20, 2018 at 11:09 AM

2. Because it’s cute:

bev July 20, 2018 at 11:10 AM

3. Because it’s cheerful:

bev July 20, 2018 at 11:13 AM

Extra….because why not?

Usually I find things like this cheesy….but he is my favorite, lol.

And I’m done.

R. Renee July 20, 2018 at 11:17 AM

1. Making my retreat budget this year is taking more math than I have brain for.
2. I want dark chocolate. I’m on the stricketest of diets right now. I drank rum and diet coke all night last night…but without the rum. :(
3. I have to work in the yard all weekend and it will be in the hundreds!

Grey July 20, 2018 at 12:22 PM

*glitter* so late because I’ve been chaperoning a field trip with the summer program today. Omg y’all… I am tired!!!

Amy July 20, 2018 at 3:22 PM

The blurb for Millionaire Vampire had me snickering so THAT is a definite click!

Three things:
1. I’m tired. And don’t feel like working today.
2. I had a teenager tell me earlier he thought I was hot until I turned around and he saw how old I was. Little sh!t. I hope he ends up a 40-year-old virgin.
3. It’s almost Shark Week!!!

Amy July 20, 2018 at 4:00 PM

bev, that little girl is ADORABLE! And I love how they use a cartoon-type dress to cover her up.

Tasha J July 20, 2018 at 4:17 PM

1. I’m on a mission to get rid of all the kids toys. There’s too much. Toys everywhere. There’s a ton of clothes I’m ready to have go too. Operation clean house begins next week. Things are boxed, but I need time.

2. It’s storming!!! Oh, how I’ve missed stormy days. I wish the kids enjoyed it as much as I.

3. I binged On My Block on Netflix today. Pretty sure there was no buzz on this one, but I really liked it. And the end was a MAJOR cliffy so I’m glad it was renewed for season 2.

Maryse July 20, 2018 at 5:13 PM

LOL R!!!

Without the rum. *snort*

Maryse July 20, 2018 at 5:14 PM

I love your three things bev!!! :D

Catherine July 20, 2018 at 5:23 PM

Regular lurker, infrequent commenter here. Not book-related, but re: DNA kits…

I realize that everyone has their own thresholds and comfort level about what’s private vs public and how comfortable they are sharing their own data. But I want to share that I work for an ethics review board (aka IRB) and we see applications from our researchers to use data from companies such as 23 and Me,, etc. and there is really no such thing as “private information.” When you submit a saliva sample, these companies are providing you with information about your background and then selling or sharing your data as they see fit. Yes, our researchers are doing wonderful work on rare diseases and ancestry genetics, but a whole lot of private information (for example, data that customers answered as part of the surveys and other demographic information) accompanies the samples and/or genome data.

Within the current administration, there are also proposals to create loopholes within the genetic non-discrimination act so if you find that you have a medical condition that makes you unfavorable to insure, you may have more trouble obtaining insurance in the future.

Again, everyone has their own comfort levels around privacy and I know people who have found their results to be interesting. Just wanted to add a different perspective for those who may not be aware.

I’m not usually a fan of the naked torso style book covers. But check out the cover of that Amy Daws book up there (Surrender). Hubba hubba. Yup, I surrender right now. Maybe it’s the addition of the soccer ball? Or maybe it’s just those ripped abs. LOL.

Tasha J July 20, 2018 at 7:31 PM
Tasha J July 20, 2018 at 7:50 PM

OMG I was right!!! I finished the book.

bev July 20, 2018 at 8:08 PM

Lol. Have to be a bit extra when I’m waiting time waiting.

Tasha, like those, especially the first one. Both new to me. I keep replaying Jinho’s cover of Havana.

Jan no judgement. Did you see my posts. I’m crushing on those in their 20s. It’s a very confusing time right now.

bev July 20, 2018 at 8:10 PM

Catherine that is really interesting and an interesting job.

I’m curious about the health testing aspect of the tests at the same time I just do not want to know. I might end up worrying more if i know.

Tasha J July 20, 2018 at 8:26 PM

I stumbled upon Sera Cahoone while I was googling Alex Murdoch *blushes*. And it was one of those pop ups of other people and I kept clicking and then I’d swing over to amazon music and download whatever was available for free. I don’t even sample first, just a whim. Turns out I really like her. I like listening to it on there more than that video there. With Stand by me, I downloaded from 2 artists also on a whim. That one just gives me happy feels.

Tasha J July 20, 2018 at 8:27 PM

Mona July 20, 2018 at 8:46 PM

DG, thank you for recommending Where One Goes! This book definitely brings the tears, but it also makes you laugh. I could not stop reading it…one clicked this morning and finished this evening! Thank you!

D.G. July 20, 2018 at 9:25 PM

Mona, glad you enjoyed it also! Just to update…I finished it yesterday…with tears STREAMING down my face. Even waterproof makeup would not have survived this MONSOON of emotion! I literally had to fall back on a reread of Thatcher and his over the top cockiness to pull me out of it!

Thank Max Monroe for Thatch! #Iwouldthatchthat. Lol

bev July 20, 2018 at 9:49 PM

Tasha, you have to love a new summer obsession.

bev July 21, 2018 at 12:48 AM

Grr. I’m having a Tessa moment. I’m enjoying the book….but it takes place in Oregon and….

Either make it all fictional places or do the research.

Granted, if it wasn’t too close to home I wouldn’t notice, but it jerks me out of the story.

Tasha J July 21, 2018 at 5:29 AM

Up before the crack of dawn today for my daughter’s championships. Ridiculous time, I swear. And I (by myself) have to manage getting all of us including chairs and what not outta the house in the next 20 min (feeding baby now). This should be comical. Lol
So I was thinking of a would u rather scenario. Would u rather plummet to the earth in a plane crash OR be stranded in the ocean when the boat you’re on sinks?

Tasha J July 21, 2018 at 5:35 AM

I prefer the plane crash. Cuz, sharks and other unknown. Like, what if I live for a while and have to suffer in unimaginable ways? I suppose that could happen with the plane too, but I’ll take my chances.

D.G. July 21, 2018 at 8:04 AM

My heart hurts. Just f@cking hurts. A close friend of ours may not even make it through today. Cancer f@cking sucks! I have been so positive that he would beat this…that he would get his HEA…see his youngest graduate…walk both his daughters down the aisle…meet and marry his soulmate…bounce grandbabies on his knee…grow old with the rest of the good ole boys…GAH! My heart just really, really hurts.

Leslie M July 21, 2018 at 8:10 AM

D.G., so sorry about your friend. *hugs*

bev July 21, 2018 at 9:29 AM

I’m sorry to hear that, D.G..

Grey July 21, 2018 at 9:50 AM

*hugs* DG. Cancer sucks. There are no other words. I pray for peace and an end to his suffering for your friend. I am so so sorry. I know how you feel. This is so unfair. *big big hugs*

Tessa July 21, 2018 at 11:48 AM

*hugs* I’m sorry DG.

RIGHT BEV? It totally throws me when someone writes about a place I know really well, but the writer is clueless. It throws you out of the story and you can’t stop thinking how wrong they are.

I’d rather be on the boat. I can swim. I can float. I know not to wear all black in the water. And I know to take the boat apart enough to have something to float on. If all else fails, I’d rather die knowing I tried.

bev July 21, 2018 at 1:24 PM

Exactly. Just use the state but make up the towns and such if you need to.

I was so sure this summer is try to be healthy…..instead I had chocolate marshmallow cookies for breakfast.

Tessa July 21, 2018 at 3:25 PM

I’m taking small steps with health. Well, almost no sugar. That’s a given. But mostly, eating when I’m actually hungry.

You know what I did find? Carbs make me hungry sooner than anything else does. I’ll eat a salad and nope. Not hungry for three – four hours. Protein of course fills me. But bread? Pfft, the Chinese food rule. I’m hungry an hour later. That doesn’t stop me from eating them, but I’ve put more protein and veggies into my diet.

Tasha J July 21, 2018 at 4:25 PM

*bites into famous amos cookie* I have a problem with sugar.

Jan July 21, 2018 at 6:37 PM

*hugs DG* So sorry to hear about your friend.

*takes one of Tasha’s cookies and absently eats it*

*picks up kindle and starts browsing through hundreds of samples I’ve downloaded, searching vainly for that next really great read*

Tasha J July 21, 2018 at 7:37 PM

I’m watching Ready Player One. Totally bizarre. I dk what I was expecting, not my usual type of movie, but I’m into it.

Tasha J July 22, 2018 at 10:22 AM

Something Like Happy by Eva Woods is on sale for 1.99. I read this one and loved it. All the details are still with me too, cuz sometimes even when I love a book, I forget stuff.

bev July 22, 2018 at 10:41 AM

Good Morning.

Grey July 22, 2018 at 5:15 PM

Quiet weekend around here. I am finishing my current read, then getting ready to jump into an ARC that I am SUPER stoked about. You know…since this cover screams my name. Someone Else’s Ocean by Kate Stewart, it is gorgeous and *glitter, all the glitter*. I haven’t read anything about it… I want to read the book based on the cover…period. That makes me slightly insane, right?

Maryse July 22, 2018 at 6:17 PM

I just finished another book!!! I’ve been reading all weekend. review to come in just an hour or so. :)

bev July 22, 2018 at 9:36 PM

I love this quote in the book in reading.

There is no world where “you’re wrong” is an acceptable answer to “this hurts.”

Maryse July 23, 2018 at 6:54 AM

I LOVE that quote. It’s exactly right. What book is it bev?
