HAPPY FRIDAY FINDS & HAPPY READING WEEKEND. Guess what? I’m LOVING God-Shaped Hole: A Novel. Oh I know I’ll be swearing up (or crying up?) a storm soon enough, my friends. Because yes, by the reactions I keep hearing about and the fact that I *think* I read spoilers a LONG time ago when I first heard about this one, I have a feeling I’m in for some hurt.

Yep… back when I wanted more Tiffanie DeBartolo after having discovered her “How to Kill a Rock Star” book and swearing up a storm (and calling her a few choice words <— my review) back then, even. Poor author. I was embarrassed but I had to let loose I was so FREAKED OUT. Yes.

All that, and it’s one of my favorite books ever, so YOU KNOW I’m into this. Even though I think I know where it’s going. *gasp*. And yes. I’m doing a reader-reaction video for this. I’m still in the perky-happy “I LOVE IT SO MUCH… SO FAR” stage. ;) *snort*

We’ll see. ;)

In the meantime though, take a look at what we found for the weekend!! :D

Beautiful ones. Pretty ones—and believe me there is a difference, but that’s another soap box. Point is, I don’t discriminate. What do I get out of it? Knowledge. I want to be prepared, adept, and ready. I might find the perfect woman for me today or a few years from now, but I won’t stop until I do…
  • Sustained by Emma Chase <— EMMA CHASE ALERT!! This one is MUCH-LOVED (and it’s super-bargain priced!)

  • Love Me in the Dark by Mia Asher <— MIA ASHER SUPER-ANGST FORBIDDENY ALERT! SHE WANTS HIM... but she belongs to another man. And Amy is reading and enjoying this recent release!
Amy: I’m still working on Love Me in the Dark, but I am seriously loving it. The only reason it’s taking me so long is not having a whole lot of reading time, and I am at a point in the book where I need to be able to devour it in one sitting so I can get through the angst I just KNOW is coming. This pretty much sums up how I act every time I go to pick it up…

Good morning! Happy Friday!!

Cheryl May 19, 2017 at 7:03 AM

Good morning. Yeh, it’s finally friday!!!! :)

Lisa Aiello May 19, 2017 at 7:42 AM

Good morning, beautiful ladies. Have a wonderful Friday. There are a buttload (definition: way more than a lot) of interesting books up there!!!

R. Renee May 19, 2017 at 7:49 AM

I was so sure I’d be first today! Not even close! I met KK Allen at RT and I lurrrrve her! One clicked that baby! I have her Up in the Treehouse to read first though. I saw LP last night in Austin!!! Going home now to sleep :-/

Jean May 19, 2017 at 7:55 AM

Good morning ladies!! Happy Friday!!

The Rockers Series… of my all time favs!! You guys have to read these books if you haven’t already!

Jean May 19, 2017 at 7:55 AM

R, at least we all beat Ela and Grey today! LOL!

Ela May 19, 2017 at 9:08 AM

LOL Jean! YOU DID GOOD! I was too busy looking through FB this morning. Wow, sounds like you had fun Robin!

So Lisa, I saw that Robin and Amy didn’t read HTKARS according to GR and I’m willing to do a re-read, that’s how great a book it is!

R. Renee May 19, 2017 at 9:30 AM

I haven’t read it Ela. I will but not soon. I’m seriously backlogged!

OMG best concert ever. I’m too wired to sleep. There may have been tears…

Grey May 19, 2017 at 9:30 AM

Hmph…. *checks name off on attendance sheet* I’m not really sure I’m here or not, anyway…

I’ve had zero reading time this week,
FCF is screaming at me to read.

Hi all, *waves frantically, then runs back to the chaos*

Tessa May 19, 2017 at 9:46 AM

lol I have resigned myself that at this point, I will never be first. I just refuse to wake up at 4am. :D

*high five Jeans* Right? Everyone must read the Demon Wings series stat!

Tessa May 19, 2017 at 9:49 AM

Hi Grey! Hope your days calm a bit. :)

Tessa May 19, 2017 at 10:03 AM

Robin, what concert?

Ela May 19, 2017 at 10:28 AM

” I saw LP last night in Austin!!!”

R. Renee May 19, 2017 at 10:29 AM

LP! The chick Amy got me obsessed with!

Tessa May 19, 2017 at 11:25 AM

*facepalms* I even read that and didn’t make the connection. I can’t even blame lack of sleep because I’d been awake for two hours by that point. I’m glad you enjoyed it! :D

Nay May 19, 2017 at 11:34 AM

Ooooh, I thought LP were the initials of some singer/group that I just couldn’t figure out. I forgot about the video you showed of her.

For those who have Kindle First, what did y’all pick this month? I’m having trouble deciding.

Leslie M May 19, 2017 at 2:29 PM

Hi everyone! Hubs has taken last two days off of work and has been keeping me busy. (NOT the good kind of busy either). Between him and my recent book slump, I’m not reading anything good. :(

*takes cover from multiple The Bird and the Sword peanuts that come flying at me*

Tessa May 19, 2017 at 2:41 PM

Aww Leslie. Yeah, I can see why they are recommending Bird and the Sword. lol It is more romance than fantasy. Still… *hugs* Sucky not being able to find something to read.

I finished The Knight and it was good. I’m happy with the end, though there is obviously going to be a spin off. (The author even ended saying, yes, there is a spin off. :P )

Now I have Cold Reign or Blade of Blood (Blood Blade? Not sure which). Cold Reign by Faith Hunter might be it, but the cover is a BAD photoshop. They took the prior model and put her head on a different body. It’s weird. Oh, and the different body has WAY bigger boobs, and the head looks like it’s broken. Very weird.

I’m kind of avoiding the blade one. It’s the last of the Chicagoland and I really adored the series.

Kathy P May 19, 2017 at 3:02 PM

Nay, I picked The First Word by Isley Robson. I actually read it. It is about a single father who has a child who is diagnosed as autistic and an occupational therapist who moves in to their house to work with their child. I would give it 4 stars.

Ela May 19, 2017 at 3:40 PM

I’m debating whether I should go and get my nails done… RL problems.

Grey May 19, 2017 at 3:50 PM

I’ll take your #RLproblem and raise you a #FridayNightLaziness. My kiddos want to go out to eat and I’m grumpy because I just want to put on my yoga pants and get my nerdy book girl on.

Fabi May 19, 2017 at 5:43 PM

Nay, I picked Breakthrough for my KF pick and then I bought the audio for it. I’m listening to it now and loving it hard. It’s a sci-fi thriller and it’s all I can do not to just pick up the ebook and rush read through it.

Lisa May 19, 2017 at 7:32 PM

Hey Jan!! Im in your part of the world today visiting my brother for his 50th. Beautiful day….looking at the sun shining on the coathanger!

Jan May 19, 2017 at 7:54 PM

Hey Lisa. Hope you and your brother have a great day! But I’m down in Victoria. And it’s a grey old day here today. Oh well. Enjoy the sunshine up there!

Jan May 19, 2017 at 7:55 PM

Tessa I had a look at the cover of Cold Reign. I see what you mean. It’s a shocker.

Tessa May 19, 2017 at 8:16 PM

It’s weird! Just get a new model. No broken necks that way.

Jan May 19, 2017 at 9:51 PM

Aussie HR lovers: Ann Gracie’s The Perfect Rake is only $1.99 AUD on amazon au. It’s #1 in the Merridew series. I haven’t read it but the reviews are good. (I’ve one-clicked.) :)

Nay May 20, 2017 at 12:30 PM

Kathy–I considered that one, but I just don’t know…

Fabi–Do you maybe mean that you picked The Hundredth Queen? That’s what I figured you’d pick and I don’t see Breakthrough. I LOVE the cover! Makes me want to pick it for that reason alone!

Anyway, those are the two I can’t decide between–The First Word or The Hundredth Queen. I have KU, so I can read either for free. I just can’t decide which one I want to own.

OMG–that Cold Reign cover is just wrong! I’ve looked at it a bunch of times and I never noticed it. Wonder what happened with the model?

Fabi May 20, 2017 at 1:18 PM

Nay, you’re right. I picked The Hundredth Queen for May KF. I haven’t read it yet. I must have either picked Breakthrough on a previous month or it’s one of those Prime library books we get for free. In my Amazon library it’s labeled Prime. Anyhow, it’s a great story. Scientists have been able to translate Dolphin language but there’s something scary at the bottom of the ocean. Don’t know yet if it’s alien or evil or benign or what.

R. Renee May 20, 2017 at 1:21 PM

OMG Fabi that sounds awesome!! Bottom of the sea stuff scares the crap out of me!

bev May 20, 2017 at 6:47 PM

Can I ramble?
*imagines everyone rolling eyes and thinking…..bev you always ramble*

It is almost summer which is when I am going to start my summer reading list. My reading list being Leslie ‘ buddy challenge. Except I combined my pick for Tasha with the tbr challenge and that was Thoughtless. ……

*mad dogs Tasha*

I was just wondering if any of you have a list of books for summer, I am determined to read through my list. Determined.

Which brings me to my other thought…..what if we had a summer book club? Just for June, July, and August? For me I should be able to read more and able to fit in 3 extra books. What if we did it totally random. Like we all nominate a book or two. Not peanut books, but a book unread by you and hopefully any of us. Maybe books that are coming out in the summer or under the radar books. Then idk a draw to pull 3 books. Maybe Maryse could draw for us? Then we read that book and discuss at a certain day and time?
We could put parameters like genre or price or leave it open?

Leslie M May 20, 2017 at 8:54 PM

Bev, thats ok you combined challenge picks. So even though you dnf’d Thoughtless, that was your pick for Tasha. (unless you want to pick another from Tasha’s faves) I have been dnf’ing a ton of challenge reads, so don’t feel bad.

I’d be willing to do the summer book club thing when the books are in CR genre.

bev May 21, 2017 at 10:26 AM

Leslie, I think everyone ran away without us.

Do you think it was to the circus?

R. Renee May 21, 2017 at 10:28 AM

I can’t take on anything else right now. I haven’t finished a single book for May and I don’t think I’m going to. I started the Lesley Jones last night, but there’s no way I’ll finish it in time!

Amy May 21, 2017 at 1:36 PM

Wow…WOW. I just spent the last hour or so going back through Maryse’s posts from the past two weeks so I could one-click my little heart away and get all of the books which had caught my eye but I never did click. Um, hello beautiful and tempting covers like Bound and What You Wish For!! So I reloaded my Amazon card with $100.

And it’s now empty.

I don’t know whether to stare at my new books with a giddy tummy (that’s a thing, right?) or sick tummy.

Amy May 21, 2017 at 1:41 PM

Ela…are you sure you’re looking at the right Amy on GR? ‘Cause I’ve read (and freaking loved) HTKARS. *scratches head*

MARYSE!! Update on God-Shaped Hole please!!! And don’t forget to re-read the Easter Egg in HTKARS when you are finished. Talk about happy tears…

Nay May 21, 2017 at 2:26 PM

bev–What you’re suggesting sounds like such fun! I’m IN!! I think it would be awesome for a group of us to read something that none of us have read and then discuss.

I love challenges, BR’s, book club selections.I have so much trouble deciding what to read 90% of the time, so all of those are very helpful in steering me in the right direction. And I especially lurve reading a book while one or more of my friends are reading it as well.

Jan May 21, 2017 at 5:54 PM

Well it sounds kinda fun bev but I have to GET REAL. I’m not even keeping up with my current challenges so I don’t wanna take on another one. So, not for moi this time. :(

Maryse May 21, 2017 at 6:37 PM

I’ve been crying ALL DAMN DAY!

Writing the review as we speak. My eyes burn. It’s hard. :P

bev May 21, 2017 at 6:46 PM

Leslie M May 21, 2017 at 6:52 PM

Ok, Maryse just cleared it up for me. God Shaped Hole is NOT a Leslie-friendly read.

Amy May 21, 2017 at 7:06 PM

Awww, Maryse…

*tucks Manny in Maryse’s arms*

*pours strawberry lemonade martinis*

*snuggles Maryse*

But did you read the Easter egg? Did ya, did ya, did ya?!?

Cheryl May 21, 2017 at 7:07 PM

Leslie, I was thinking the same thing. Well, that’s it’s not a Cheryl-read!! :)

bev May 21, 2017 at 7:34 PM

She ate the easter egg.

Amy May 21, 2017 at 8:14 PM

Tessa May 21, 2017 at 8:35 PM

Leslie, when Amy says she loves it and it was emotional and she kept crying… yeah. AVOID. I’ve learned. :P

Amy May 21, 2017 at 9:16 PM

Um, Tristan and Danika?

Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Maryse May 21, 2017 at 9:21 PM

LOL Tessa!!! :P

Maryse May 21, 2017 at 9:22 PM

Easter eggs are yummy. Especially in THIS circumstance. Just sayin’

Maryse May 21, 2017 at 9:22 PM

I have NOT gone back to re-read my easter egg, but I remember it SO clearly from YEARS ago… isn’t that weird? But I shall re-read it. Absolutely I NEED it.

Maryse May 21, 2017 at 9:23 PM

Awwwww COME ON Leslie!!! Please??????

Cheryl May 21, 2017 at 9:25 PM

I don’t want to read GSH, but I am curious about the easter egg.

Tessa May 21, 2017 at 10:05 PM

lol Amy, I remember very well Tristan and Danika. :P I was with Jean pushing for you all to read it. FEELS!!!! :D I want another book like Tristan and Danika. Just… don’t tell me it is like it just because I’d be scared. hehehe

Leslie M May 22, 2017 at 6:58 AM

Thanks for the support Cheryl & Tessa. We gotta be careful with the Marmy girls. *smirks*

Amy, I will give you credit for Tristan & Danika. That was great story and not one for me to be afraid of. I can’t believe I waited YEARS to read it!!!

Maryse, although I love you dearly…I am not sure I trust you not to refer me to a heart wrenching book. ;)

Its hard because I do actually like some from Marmy list. My thing is I can take some emotional (like It Ends With Us, Tristan & Danika, etc.) but not non-HEA, terminal illness, death, and books that are just depressing. I almost need spoilers to know if I can handle story…but then book is…um….spoiled! Ugh!

Leslie M May 22, 2017 at 7:01 AM

Speaking of easter eggs…I’ve got a ton of left over Easter candy calling my name.

Cheryl May 22, 2017 at 8:11 PM

It’s not the angst that I don’t want to read/experience, but I want a HEA ending. And I LOVED Tristan and Danika!
