Happy Friday my friends!!! Today’s list is MOSTLY reader recommendations, and boy these sound tried and TRUE!!!! YAY US!!!
I’ll be adding more throughout the day if some go on super-sale, or if I get another awesome sounding recommendation (or if anything has a surprise-release), but I think today’s Friday Finds list is pretty solid!
Let’s read!! 😀
Take a look at what we found! (NOTE: some are bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):
- Something in the Way (Something in the Way Series Book 1) by Jessica Hawkings <— FORBIDDENY & A RECENT READER QUESTION ALERT!!! I want to read this one sooooo bad. TOTAL blurb jolt ’cause she falls for him, but she’s too young, and then her sister also falls for him. And Marion says:
Marion: Guys this book is soooooo good!!! Everyone should read it, you’ll immediately want to dissect it with someone afterwards… just leave the judgement at the door lol! Can’t wait for book 2 this month!
- The Perfect Illusion by Winter Renshaw <— SHE HATES HER BOSS & IS ABOUT TO QUIT/FAKE FIANCE ALERT! Plus it’s on SUPER-BARGAIN!!! This sounds like such a fun read!!! “I’m in the midst of scrawling “I QUIT!” onto his fancy cardstock letterhead when my boss corners me. He needs a favor, he says. And then he asks how well I can act … Hudson Rutherford needs a fiancée. With his old-moneyed parents forcing him to marry some bratty hotel heiress and his hedonistic, playboy lifestyle at stake, the only way to get them to back off is to make them think he’s truly, madly, deeply in love … with me—his third personal assistant this year…” BUT!!! It’s the LAST line that cinched me wanting it to bad…
“I’m seconds from giving him a resounding “no” when he flashes his signature dimpled smirk and gives me a number that happens to contain a whole mess of zeroes …On second thought, I think I can swallow my pride. But, oh baby, there’s one thing I haven’t told him, one teensy-tiny thing that could make this just a hair complicated …”
A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses) by Sarah J Maas <— FANTASY ROMANCE & THE BIGGEST HIT OF THE WEEK! (P.S. Here’s the reading order)
MichelleS: I caved. I started A Court of Wings and Ruin last night. I have so many others lined up, but moved it to the front of the list because…. well… BECAUSE it’s the next in the series and RHYS and…. Fae… and betrayal and war looming and 707 pages…. I’m just kind of a mess right now. It’s like crack to me this kind of thing. I might need to call in sick.
Tessa: Muahaha, Court of Wings and Ruin is mine
Tasha: Yay, Michelle! Keep us updated, please. I put Sarah J Mass books off until I can devote all my time and attention to the story. It stays with me for so long after too so I have to allow for that.
Maryse: Tasha, me too. I’m collecting each one…
Accidentally on Purpose 6 Book Box Set by L.D. Davis <— ENTIRE BOX SET SERIES SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!! YES. THIS is full of angst and drama and forbiddeny stuff from what I hear, and I just one clicked this treasure-trove!! 😀 😛
Nay: I was going to ask if any of y’all loved Accidentally On Purpose and how angsty it really is. I’ve thought about reading it about 20 times, but I’ve never taken the plunge.
Amy: Holy moly Nay!!! I loved Accidentally on Purpose!! 😀 …What I REALLY want is another Arsen or Thoughtless or Accidentally on Purpose…those books worked me over with their angst and emotion!
Tessa: Accidently on Purpose. That was super awesome too. I still have yet to read book two. Next month.
JenC: Accidentally on Purpose lovelovelove – one of my first reads after discovering this whole community/indie/self publishing / getting back into reading…
Ashley: Ladies ~ I just finished the Accidentally on Purpose series and it was great! It definitely takes you for a roller coaster ride! I recommend it to anyone who hasn’t read it yet.
Four Doors Down by Emma Doherty <— ANGSTY ALERT!!!! I just learned about these because of book #2’s release (I accidentally read the blurb when I shouldn’t have but OMG I wanted to read BOTH anyway!!). And now… I’ve received feedback:
Maryse… the Four Years Later one, but I accidentally read the blurb, and I haven’t read the first one yet. That said, the blurb for #2 makes me want to read it. It sounds like it will be tumultuous!!!
Liz: I just power read Four Doors Down and Four Years Later. I also read the blurb and ruined it for myself but it only added to the angst of it all. Boy was it angsty and I loved it. Laughing, crying it had it all
Maryse: Liz!!!!!!!! Thank YOU!!! This sounds like out type of angst and intensity, and yet I had never heard of these yet. I’m SO glad for some feedback!!!!!! *hug*
- One True Loves: A Novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid <— ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS IN THE WORLD ALERT!! Still on sale (for now!!) and Jessica just discovered her awesomeness!
Kathy: One True Loves: A Novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid is on sale… Talk about Angst! I might need a support group and a glass of wine to read this one.
Jessica: I recently discovered Taylor Jenkins Reid (I read MAYBE IN ANOTHER LIFE) and now I’m obsessed. Her books are so heartfelt and so smart! Thanks for the heads up about the sale – off to one click that bad boy now.
Amy: Jessica…we LOVE Taylor Jenkins Reid around here so you’re in good company.
The Other Us by Fiona Harper <— JUST WENT LIVE!! SHE WAKES UP AND REALIZES SHE’S IN HER 20’s AGAIN! She’s 40-something and feels her marriage has gone stale and… “…she can’t help wondering what happened to Jude Hanson. The same night Dan proposed, Jude asked Maggie to run away with him, and she starts to wonder how different her life might have been if she’d broken Dan’s heart and taken Jude up on his offer. Wondering turns into fantasising, and then one morning fantasising turns into reality. Maggie wakes up and discovers she’s back in 1992 and twenty-one again…”
- Weaving Man: Book One of The Prophecy Series by Tove Foss Ford <— SCI-FI/STEAM-PUNK ALERT!!! MichelleS is hesitant about the cover but loves the book!
MichelleS: I’m loving my current read. Long, slow, but really cool world building & amazing characters. My catnip! The Weaving Man. If you like interesting, unique, a study in characters, Victorian steam punk sci-fi feel. I don’t even know WHAT genre this is! I am totally in love with the lead character, Menders. A very imperfect hero. And his rag-tag team of outcasts protecting the future queen. Totally my kind of read!!! …Worst covers – great books, don’t judge it by the cover: Weaving Man (especially the hand drawn one)…
Tessa: Weaving Man was… *Sighs* So good. And a good example of how the secondary characters build the world far more than just the MCs do. The MCs build the story, and the secondaries build the world around them. …It’s not high on angst yet, (though there were parts that were), but the story telling and characters and everyone’s relationship with each other was just beautiful to read.
MichelleS: Hands down one of the best books I’ve ever read & best male characters ever. Complicated, intelligent, cunning, tender, loyal, ruthless when he needs to be. Stunning debut from this author.
Tessa: And yes. Yes I do believe you almost missed it because of the cover. If I were to judge a book by it’s cover, The Weaving Man is a Edwardian mystery and NOT MY TYPE, or else such crap, they couldn’t get a decent cover.
Rhapsodic (The Bargainer Book 1) by Laura Thalassa <— FANTASY ROMANCE ALERT!! And Laura recommends this one!
Laura: I remember readers of your blog raving about Laura Thalassa’s The Fallen World series last year. Her paranormal romance book, Rhapsodic (The Bargainer Book 1), was bargained price earlier this week so I purchased it. The book is so good that it’s worth paying full price!
Rhapsodic features a rare, gorgeous romance between the two main characters. I enjoyed Callie’s character- she was strong and independent but without crossing that line into gratingly stubborn territory. I loved that her foolish heart still beat for Des despite seven years apart. The flashback scenes between 16 year old Callie and the enigmatic Des were wonderfully done and clearly showed the growing bond between the unlikely pair.
I appreciated that Des went against his dark nature and was committed to not pushing a young Callie into a relationship that she wasn’t ready for. When Des finally expressed his feelings for Callie and explained his absence, it was *everything* that a romance reader could swoon for.
My only complaint with the story and why I can’t give it five stars (spoiler alert!), is that I wish Des and Callie could have had more time together before she was taken. I felt a bit cheated that they only had one night together after such a long build up. However, I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series so that I continue with them on their journey. The second book is expected to be released in May.
Dirty Filthy Rich Men (Dirty Duet Book 1) by Laurelin Paige <— DARK, BULLY TYPE HERO ALERT!! Tessa and Grey recommend it!
Grey: Dirty Filthy Rich Men! Yep, I had an ARC of this one and the prologue earlier this month and really enjoyed them. A mean ol’ bully and dark (not quite black, but greyish) undertones … Certainly was creeping up on my book catnip!!
Tessa: Filthy, Rich Men by Laurelin Paige – Seriously, CATNIP!! This is not for everyone but I’m so glad Grey brought it to my attention. *huggles Grey* My bully buddy.
…Dirty, Filthy, Rich Men did not disapoint. Anyone who loves the darker, bully type hero, READ THIS! Seriously, I can’t believe how much I loved it. Thank you Grey for recommending it!
- The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran <—HISTORICAL ROMANCE!!! Jan enjoyed it.
My fav read for April was a HR by Meredith Duran, The Duke of Shadows. A bit different, set in 1850s India then moves to London. Enjoyable and well-written, although not a five star. I didn’t have any 5 star reads in April
Here’s hoping for May.
The Bohemian and the Businessman: The Story Sisters #1 (The Blueberry Lane Series) by Kate Regnery <— ROMANCE WITH NOT TOO MUCH ANGST ALERT!!! And Jan LOVES this series!
Jan: “Ooh. I just noticed Katy Regnery has a new book out in the blueberry lane series. It’s called The Bohemian and The Businessman and it just seems to have come out last week. Maybe it was on your list and I missed it Maryse?
I’ve read most of the blueberry lane series and they’re sweet romances usually with not too much angst – just my style! Some are better than others, and I’m hoping this new one will be good because it starts a new story arc, about the ‘Story sisters’. (that’s their name).
The last book that came out in the series was a terrific book, IMO the best one by far, so maybe this one will be as good.
It was called J.C. and the Bijoux Jolis: The Rousseaus #3 (The Blueberry Lane Series) and it was a really great frenemies read about a very unlikely couple who finally find each other – the eternal player meets the savvy, smart girl who’s totally not his type. At first they HATE each other, but then they fall for each other, hard. There’s also a nice art/painting mystery in the story. I’ve just been rereading it, which is what made me go look up Katy Regnery and I found the new book. Ah, Jean-Christian, mon amour. Sigh………..
Going to start the new one today!”
Try Not to Breathe: A Novel by Holly Seddon <— PSYCH-THRILLER ALERT!!! And it’s super-bargain priced today! She’s a journalist but struggling to get through life and just going through the motions… and then she finds out about HER. “...Alex discovers Amy Stevenson. Amy Stevenson, who was just another girl from a nearby town until the day she was found unconscious after a merciless assault. Amy Stevenson, who has been in a coma for fifteen years, forgotten by the world. Amy Stevenson, who, unbeknownst to her doctors, remains locked inside her body, conscious but paralyzed, reliving the past. Soon Alex’s routine includes visiting hours at the hospital, then interviews with the original suspects in the attack. But what starts as a reporter’s story becomes a personal obsession...”
- You Belong to Me (Romantic suspense Book 12) by Karen Rose <— SERIAL KILLER/THRILLER SUPER-BARGAIN! “….he’s starting to suspect that his medical examiner, Dr. Lucy Trask, may be shielding a dark secret that could connect her to these vicious killings-and put her next on the killer’s hit list...”

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!
Leslie M: Honestly, for those who are trying to fit more reading time into their life…you got to try audiobooks. I got 5 listening hrs (almost 1/2 of my book) in today ALL while doing other things. It takes a while to get used to audiobooks. But once you are into them, you will wonder how you ever lived without them.
Rebecca: 1-2 books a week for me, because Kids. I exhausted!! However, my quantity is up double now thanks to Audible. While I’m cooking, cleaning, I have my head phones on listening to a book.
Happy Friday, everyone!!
I am going to add my latest read to the list. Bloodlust (Rise of the Iliri) by Auryn Hadley. This is book 1 of 6 in the series (still going). It is freaking amazing. Absolutely loved it. Fantasy/sci-fi. There is romance, action and most importantly great characters. Highly recommend. I am off to read book 2 now
TGIF LOVELIES *smooches*
If you enjoy angsty, love triangles and that “back in the day” book feel…read Accidentally on Purpose!!!
*takes entire barrel of peanuts and dumps over Maryse’s head*
Court of Mist & Fury, The Weaving Man, and Rhapsodic in same post? Mind. Officially. Blown! Oh Em Gee!!!
CoM&F update – amazing!!! I’m only at 36% and I miss this world already!
I had the first Accidentally on Purpose purchased on my TBR…so I just dumped it and purchased the box set so my greedy hands could have them ALL…wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! It sounds super duper awesomeness!
The Other Us sounds good to me!
Ok, Nay, Maryse & Amy we should try to do it.
Anyone else want to try a Read a Book in a Day day?
lol Michelle, right? So many good ones at once (though it’s Wings and Ruin 😛 I blame the early hour sleepies). CoWaR update, I’m at 46% and I agree with Michelle 100%.
I still have to read the second book of AoP…
BB Reid’s The Knight was released on Wed. It continues her duet which started with The Bandit.
Oh and to add to my joy, Dirty, Filthy, Rich Men is up there too! 😀
*joins Leslie and dumps more NUTS on Maryse*
I’m wondering if my boss knows that all I want to do is 1-click like a mad woman and read the day away! Some days have SO much pull… and some of these on todays list have my eyes bugging and my finger twitching 🙂 Read on my friends, read on!
Can the Blueberry Lane series be read as a stand alone series or do you have to read The Bennet Family series first? I like low angst and this series sounds good
Lisa–I also had Accidentally on Purpose and went ahead and purchased the whole thing because I haven’t read ANY of them!
*jumps into the peanut pile and makes peanut angels*
Happy Friday Everyone!!! Can anyone recommend a good older man / younger woman book? I’ve started Before I Ever Met You by Karina Halle and I hate to say it, but this just isn’t doing it for me. I’m not quite half through and I’ve had to put it down. I’m finding it quite a bit boring. I love the idea of the “forbidden” dad’s friend aspect but don’t really know any. Any good ideas?
PS… I just one-clicked the Accidently On Purpose series. Looking forward to starting it this weekend.
Jen, I haven’t read series you asked about, but Julie James is great low angst author. I am reading (well listening to, and narration is great) her latest now…perhaps you would like it? (The Thing About Love)
Stephanie, I don’t think I have read ANY older man/younger woman romance. How is that possible?? I hope someone recs some, I like sound of that. 😉 I hope you enjoy Accidentally on Purpose.
If you’re into bike clubs then Madeline Sheehans Undeniable series all have older men younger woman.

Happy angst-and-suspense Friday to us…what an awesome list of tummy twisters up there!! 😀
And I seem to remember a pretty pink Accidentally on Purpose peanut in Maryse’s peanut basket… 😉
Stephanie. https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/older-man-younger-woman
I can’t believe I’ve read as many of these as I have. Monster in his Eyes was GOOOOOOD. Highly recommend that one. R. would probably recommend Gabriel’s Inferno (she loves that book). Undeniably by Madeline Sheehan is a good one. Actually a lot I liked on here. 😀
Father’s friend, here https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/109148.Romance_Dad_s_Best_Friend_or_Best_Friend_s_Dad
My comment is awaiting moderation. 0.0 Anyway, Stephanie, when it’s allowed, there are list on there from Goodreads.
I can say these though for just older man/ younger woman. I have issues, thus the list for friend of the father/ best friend’s father romances.
Monster in his Eyes by JM Darhower
Reasonable Doubt by Whitney G.
Gabriel’s Inferno by Sylvian Reynard
Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan
Kulti by Mariana Zappata
Thank you so much, ladies. I’ve read a few of these. Loved loved loved Gabriel’s Inferno, Undeniable & Kulti. I didn’t realize I’d already read so many. I can’t wait for Madeline Sheehan’s upcoming Undeserving featuring Preacher. These are all right up my alley. I also enjoyed The Dartmoor Series by Lauren Gilley. I’d like to see her do a story about Ghost & Maggie. I’ll check out Monster in his Eyes.
R got way in the way of my reading and now I’m having issues settling back in.
1-37
A number please.
8
My favorite number.
24
Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop is on sale for 2.99!!! Mine! 😀
Also, Pretty Stolen Dolls by Ker Dukey is FREE.
Stephanie – Wild Side Trilogy (three novellas bundled – really just one book)… by RK Lilley. Ultimate Older Man Younger Woman book!
Stephanie – Torn, Devils Wolves Book one, by Carian Cole. He’s 15 years older, her father’s best friend, and he practically raised her!!! GASP!!! But it works. Talk about forbidden May-December romance!
Bev – 33
I’m throwin’ 13 out there for bev.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is 2.99 right now.
So:
13 = Zero to Sixty by Marie Harte
8= Only Beloved by Mary Balch
33=The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
24= Twist by Kylie Scott
Narrows it somewhat. 😉
Bev, I vote for Zero to Sixty. I like tattooed hottie on cover. 😉
And I vote Nicola Yoon’s…. that’s a given!
Oh. I just noticed Kylie Scott’s. I’ve loved everything by her, too…
*bites lip*
Stephanie, older man younger woman I would recommend author “Bink Cummings” MC Chronicles: The Diary of Bink Cummings Vol 1 it is wonderful, there are three volumes. The author herself is in a MC, and the story is part true mixed with fiction. It is also free on Amazon right now. I love her books, she reminds me so much of Kristen Ashley! I am constantly waiting for her new book to come out!
Hi jen. Nice to hear from. You can totally read the blueberry lanes as separate. There are separate story arcs e.g. the Rousseaus, the Winslows, the English brothers and now the Story sisters etc, but IMO you can actually read each book as a standalone. There is a little bit of overlap and I guess possible minor spoilers if you read the books out of order, but for me that’s not a problem. My fav of all the books is JC and the Bijoux Jolis, but I’ve liked all of the others that I’ve read, some more than others, but all sweet. You can probably google the ‘correct’ reading order if that’s how you prefer to read.
bev I’ve just read Only Beloved and 3-starred it. Nice but not Balogh’s best. It’s the last in a series BTW. I’m stuck on Twist – got a bit bored with it. Maybe gonna bale out on that one. Her dive bar series is nowhere near as good as her stage dive series IMO. I haven’t read the other 2.
bink cummings reminds you of KA? Bk 1 is free? *runs to click on free book* Thank you Lisa Kay 😀
Lol, Leslie.
I love the cover on Yoon ‘ s book. That is actual string art that was hand made. Insane.
Older Man/Younger Woman romances…. I LOVED Wrong by Jana Aston. Also, Right by Jana Aston is super good. Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren is one of my favorites. Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy Cherry is a great student/teacher romance as is Professed by Nicola Rendell. Amour Amour by Krista & Becca Ritchie. Heat Wave and Love, In English both by Karina Halle. The Space Between Us and The Spire both by Kate Canterbary. Tessa I loved Reasonable Doubt by Whitney G. I’m looking at that list from goodreads and am surprised by how many I’ve read, there are some really good ones on it!
*flops on the sofa* Hi all! What’s on tap tonight?
Yay! Love to see DFRM getting some love… But dang, Maryse, that’s quite the list you’ve got there! I want to read… Pretty much all of them. So yeah, this doesn’t help. 😆
I’m reading an Arc… Definitely intrigued, it’s got a helluva playlist…Which is a *huge* plus for me. This is after putting a book, I’d really wanted to read to the side because I just couldn’t get into it. So yeah… How is everyone… It has been a crap week and I’m in for a book in a day challenge. Maybe even tomorrow. Although I’m chaperoning the prom tomorrow night. Stop laughing! No really… Stop… *giggle* I can’t either.. 😆
Ashley, I was too! I’m now intrigued by Wrong. That was pretty high and I sure like a lot of these, though I love how quite a few of them are darker books.
Wings and Ruin… 71% and BAD THINGS are happening.
I’m also jumping on the Wings and Ruin Ship!!
“Wings and Ruin… 71% and BAD THINGS are happening.”
See?
*hiccup*
*sips more pineapple martini*
SEE?!?
THAT is why I’m not reading it…
Recent favorite older man/younger girl; best friends father super angsty was Tainted Black by Shanora Williams and I believe it was a duet but I can’t remember book 2 name.
Wrong isa book I thought I wouldn’t like (because it is SO wrong!) but in fact I did like it. I liked Right as well.
Ooh ooh ooh Stephanie I just read your post. Good news. There IS a book coming out about Ghost and Maggie. It’s due out in a couple of weeks and it’s called American Hellhound. I can’t WAIT!
I had the craziest dream I met EL James last night!!!… 😉
Did she sparkle?
LOL Bev!
Amy, it was awesome. The bad thing has been predicted from the beginning, but it could have been so much worse. I really did love it.
Send me a message on GR as to why you aren’t reading book two. 🙂 Anyone worried, don’t be. And I think spin-offs are in the works for the series too. There are some I really want to see.
How many books planned for that series?
*snort*
I dreamt I met bev and SHE sparkled. Oh wait…that was Tessa when she was flying around thinking she was a fairy with only pasties on while we tossed glitter on her. 😆
I will, Tessa. And maybe it will be my read for the month where we read “next in series” as our challenge read? Either that or the next Crossfire book. I’ve even debated reading the next Ground Rules book but end up cringing and hiding under my pillow.
Only my personality.
Robin! I saw proof you met Erica! Good job, now be a good friend and draw me into the picture holding your boob?
Done!
Ha! Tessa I too had to wait moderation with my GR list!
Latest book I read with much older H and younger girl was All the Ugly and Beautiful things, hope got the title right?
You drew me in already? Email please!
GR causes some major evil moderation needs.
Amy, make it the next in series book then. I can promise you, from those of us who read it, everything is good. The bad thing, well, it was coming. It was predicted from the beginning. It just finally did happen. 🙂
Oh, and a woe is me moment. I’m at the library, and my nail broke. *sighs* And, my nail clippers are at home. Surrounded by guys so I doubt anyone of them has a nail clipper. *glares at thumb nail*
I’m in line for Sylvia Day and I don’t think I’m going to make it. I’ve been waiting for hours. 🙄
How many people are in front of you?
Now only about 10. They just called my number.
I got lucky at Book Bash and Vegas…she gave me like 3 Gideon tshirts
That would totally make it worth it!
Almost there at least! 🙂
Um…for hours??
I’d make a bad book nerd cause nope.
I’d rather walk around Atlanta looking at the Southern Mansions.
Or eating. I bet Georgia has some GOOD food.
*snort* OMG bev…you kill me.
But…but…Tessssssaaaaa!!! I don’t want to end up…aw crap. Just check your GR messages in a few minutes, m’kay?
I had to be here anyway.
And bev, I was referring to your “only my personality” comment. 😉
R, make conversation with those standing in line.
Ask them what they thought of Kellan Kyle?
Dare you.
*glares at bev*
It’s too early to be talkin’ crap.
ROFL Sent you a response back Amy. Trust me and Michelle. 😀
bev! If they’re standing in line for Sylvia Day who turned a wonderful 3 book series into 5 books of ??? of course they all love Kellan!
Is Stephens at the convention?
Fine.
I was just trying to think of ways R could keep herself amused in line.
And if she takes Dares.
Like R I dare you to tap the shoulder of the person in front of you and say, “I’m R. I write erotica. Tell me your best sexy line.”
*sighs* An hour and only 550 words written. Ah, well. Also, changed something that about 3000 words are scrapped. I’m supposed to go forward when writing, right?
ROFL And she’d probably get a lot of responses.
I like that one bev! *side eyes Robin, I double dare you*
Haha! Too late. Now I’m in line to get out! Yes I met SC Stephens.
I’m standing by her right now!
Jan, you will have to let me know how you like “Bink Cummings” all her books are 41/2 and 5 star reads. It is hard to get anywhere close to KA books, but I think Bink gets as close as anyone to me. Hope you enjoy…. 🙂
Oh, well don’t ask her about Kellan Kyle.
R, I am so fan girling!! I can’t imagine being around all those authors.
I am with Bev in the not waiting in line for hours thing.
When you get a moment you will have to give us a list of the highlights, R.
Totally random but listening to Paul Weller sing a live acoustic version of English Rose….just *sigh*
Continuing bev’s random thought thread…
I slept in yesterday because I figured I would do one of those “two-minute elegant buns” from Youtube in the morning.
I was 20 minutes late to work.
And I kept looking like bev’s monkey whenever I glanced in the mirror at my stupid “elegant” bun.
I didn’t have to stand there that whole time. I was able to shop and wander for most of it!
R, when are you going home? I can’t wait for all the deets AND pics.
Tomorrow morning. 🙁
Amy, im sure you looked very elegant.
R, it had to have been great people watching and a way to meet interesting people.
Maybe I’m hormonal from PMS but I’m sitting here wiping tears from my face because of this:
https://www.yahoo.com/style/emotional-wedding-moment-even-made-photographer-cry-151121076.html
Eyes. Won’t. Stop. Watering.
Getting ready for prom… *snicker*
Just met R. K. Lilley. She was super sweet!
Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson (the one that Tasha recommended) is on sale at Amazon for $1.99 for the ebook! But it’s only for today and only for 9 more hours from what I’m seeing.
I FREAKING MISSED IT NAY!!!!!!!!!! I want to scream. I want that book SO bad and at $1.99??? GAH!!!!
*stomps away*
*stares into the void, dejectedly*
Amy!!! My eye makeup is a mess now! That was so beautiful & intimate!
Yes, Nay thank you! I just purchased. I was just telling my Mom she should read it yesterday except I didn’t own it and now there’ll be no road block. I checked and it’s not loanable. 🙁 I’ll occasionally spend $8 and up on an ebook, but it’s hard especially when I know the library has it. Even if the wait is 6 months! And I’m not kidding, there are still 4+ ppl ahead of me for books I placed on hold in January. And there could be like 1 copy. That they get for up to 3 weeks. Sometimes, after such a long wait, I’m over it when it comes in.
Pssst…my mirror came in yesterday. And it’s hung! And so now I just need new outlets, order new outlet covers, stain and seal the chute door, put it up (with the hand knob), order some towel hooks, and a rug. And maybe possible paint the old cabinet and hang it back up. So, I’m thinking end of May/first week of June or so and I’ll have pics!
Oooh. Sounds exciting, Tasha. Renovations can seem to take sooooo long, and then you make some progress and it feels so good.
Lisa Kay thanks for the rec. I tried the Bink Cummings book, cos it was freeee, wheeeeeee! But sadly, it’s just not for me. Too *ahem* explicit for my old-fashioned tastes. I do love Lauren Gilley and Susan Fanetti, but this one was just *cough* a bit too much for me. But I’m glad you’ve found an author you really enjoy. Just not my cup of tea this time
That is exciting Tasha.
I’m sure it will look wonderful.
How do you all honestly think we would get along in real life?
I wonder if we’d meld well or lots of awkward pauses?
These online friendships are such odd things. It’s a great thing, I love having you all, but such a nichey little thing, lol.
And what happened to Fabi? R goes away and she disappeared. They are very close friends too……I’m just saying.
I’m just saying that I think they’re the same person, in case I was being too vague.
Oooh Bev, have R & Fabi not ever been seen in same room at same time before??
Very interesting…
Tasha!!! Decorating is SO fun and exciting. I get addicted to it when I get on a kick…
R is looking so pretty at RT. And meeting all sorts of our favorites!
I wish I was there too. 😉
I LOVED Gravity of Us. That was fantastic and not too crazy in any direction but I sure did find myself sayin’ “THAT B*TCH!!!!!” a few times. 😉
Er… and for a few characters too (not just one).
Amy I just saw the main image and it’s so beautiful I’m afraid to read the article. I don’t wanna cry!!!!!! Not today!
LOL Amy!!! OMG every time I think I can do one of those easy barrette tricks or messy buns that are appropriate for events… I fail.
Oh how I understand that comment.
So I’ve just finished an awesome sweet love story (which I mentioned earlier) but there’s still time left before sleep and I have a Horror anthology with really good reviews.
And the author wrote a forward about his first night terror (and I totally believe it’s true).
Then he ends it off with…
“Sleep well.”
Eeeeeeeep!!! It’s late. Should I? I shouldn’t right? No. Nope.
But I will.
Because I’m a creepy-loving freak like that.
Do it and sleep with a light on.
But first what was the sweet book?
bev it was “The Gravity of Us” that I finished (and just reviewed). It was great.
I totally wouldn’t. I’d probably be having nightmares for weeks.
I can’t wait for the pics Tasha. 😀
Defy by L.J. Shen is FREE
Maryse, it’s actually a beautiful story! No sad tears, I promise. 😉
I’m tearing up again…
Reading a horror book and getting freaked out sounds pretty fun to me…
Ooh! You should read Blister if you don’t want scary. It has great dark humor. Totally out of the norm for me but I really liked it. Fabi did good. 😉
Tasha, I’m looking forward to your pictures!
Blister…. Blister… I could swear I’ve heard of this one before. *goes to look it up*
What you guys think is fun, I stress over. I don’t like it at all, and yet I always find something new to stress over the details for. 😛
I think I would not do well in person. I’m very socially awkward anyway (I’ve been extremely shy and anxious my whole life and actually have been diagnosed with social anxiety) there’s always awkward pauses in my day to day conversations unless it’s with my family or someone I’m close to. I don’t even have close friendships anymore, they all fizzled out in high school. I find it’s harder for friendships to be found and last for me as an adult. Especially with my children so young, they soak up all my time and energy and I have trouble finding things in common with people my age. I sometimes view it as a chore, another thing on my list to keep extra relationships with people going in order to be close or comfortable. And I feel exposed sometimes and I don’t even know what to say! Lol, see all the thoughts that rapid fire in my brain over something silly. Probably what to most people probably comes so easily.
I was stressing the other day because my cousin always tells me thank you (through text), and we’re not close anymore either, and I don’t respond. Because I’m uncomfortable with compliments or gratitude. And then I think it’s rude not to respond, but ‘your welcome’ is so awkward and I feel unfitting. So I was stressing whether I should tell him how I feel so he doesn’t think I’m rude. But then it could potentially be more awkward, right? In the end, I’ve don’t nothing and I feel the same conflict every time he says it.
Amy, I’ve been thinking about that book lately, I want to read it. Just now I thought of The Burbs when you described it. I love that movie and have thought about reminiscing watching it again soon.
Tasha, no worries, we can all be awkward together and no judgement!! Just let us know if you dislike hugs. 😉
Tasha, we would get along so well. I still have awkward pauses too. Just had one at work on Friday. Makes me want to kick myself. With people I’m comfortable with I can chatter away…..*shrug*.
I’m almost 100% sure I would of been diagnosed with some type of social anxiety, a ringing telephone can still make my heart pound. Though the older I get and the more I had to go out the better I get. Also, I’m an introvert and to feel recharged I need that alone time.
I have a hard time with compliments & gratitude too. I just say a quick Thank You or No problem or even just a smile face. Then quickly change the subject.
Honestly? I can relate with you guys. As much as I CAN have a fun conversation and chat away, and meet strangers and feel okay and even enjoy the social part, I’m ALWAYS afraid of saying something awkward. And I do. And yes, the pauses. Ugh. I have those, too.
Honestly. I love to be in a group of people and just listen to THEM talk. I learn about whatever they are talking about, and it’s a lot more relaxing for me, AND I still get to be social that way.
It’s when people ask me about myself that I really clam up. Maybe not here in written-format when we do our fun questions, but in real life, face to face, THAT question brings on so much stress.
Yes, talk about yourself. Tell me a good story. …I like that. Unless I feel comfortable with you, then I will totally chatter at you, lol.
This is how scattered my reading has been. I ask for #s then do not start any of the books but am now side tracked by one I heard was funny, Open Hearts. I’m only 7% in so we will see. I just felt like a laugh, but hoping it is not too gross type of humor. I guess it is set in Australia, Jan. And she is thinking the hero is a Larrikin. Luckily she gives an idea of what that is.
Speaking of Jan, I just posted the reading order of her beloved “Commitment” series and I must agree with her… these sound great!!
I feel like the ‘what u guys think is fun, I stress about’ sentence got mixed up with the rest, perhaps. That was in reference to the bathroom details. But as to the rest…Birds of a feather. 😉 I like listening to others talk too. My awkwardness also extends to online as well, though I’m somewhat more open here, depending on my mood. And I’ll nitpick sometimes after for a long time wondering if I said to much or did I word it right? Or if it had been better to say nothing at all. I like watching u guys talk. 🙂
– I did reply a cpl thumbs up for the reply
to the ‘thank you’ and I felt that was corny. Even no problem or anytime felt unfitting. It’s so stupid, really, even my hubby says so. I also sometimes don’t respond to texts for a couple days because I feel it takes too much energy trying to figure out the best way to reply. Or I just want to be left alone. And sometimes it’s so long a wait, I then would be rude to reply after a time. And I’ve found, sadly, my anxiety has gotten worse with age. And it evolves into other forms. Sometimes I look back and think it’s always been there, under the surface, and it’s just now making its appearance. *rolls eyes, deep breath…* Anyway. I’m reading the blackhearts series by Nicole Castroman and while book 1 didn’t blow me away, I enjoyed it. I was worried after seeing all the reviews, but no need. It was more like a look into what Blackbeard’s life was like before he became Blackbeard. Fiction, of course, with romance. I really loved the authors note at the end too. Now, book 2, Blacksouls, though is giving me all that piratey action I was looking for and I love it! The slavery stuff I’ve always been interested in, as hard as it is to read. What makes me sad, is knowing in reality it lasted hundreds of years. So I fear for even fictional ‘happy endings’ during that time frame, if there is one. I couldn’t imagine living during that time either. There’s a scene on the ship where they’re describing the rotting bug infested food. And he knocks a biscuit, bugs scatter, and he soaks it and eats it anyway. *shutters* I can’t get the image outta my head.
Aw, I wish it was loanable, I’d totally send it your way! I got my copy originally from the library and I waited for-ev-er. And again, by the time it came in, I had to re-read the synopsis to even know what it was about.
The bathroom stuff, lol. For a second I was all, what is everyone sharing about the bathroom??
I am NOT scrolling up.
Then I remembered that you are redecorating.
Speaking of introverts there is a book, Artistic License that I think portrays an introvert heroine so well. It is Lucy Parker writing under a different name. Maybe her first book so not as polished but a good read.
The heroine just rang so true to me.
Aww, I’m sorry, Maryse! I think it was only on sale for 24 hours. That’s not long enough!! Since it went on sale once, maybe it will go on sale again. I’ve noticed that certain books seem to do that.
Gah!! Did you hear…13 Reasons Why is coming back for a second season! 😀
Tasha–I KNEW it would! They drummed up so much drama there at the end that people would have thrown a fit if they didn’t! How could one group of high school friends(ish) have THAT much going on in their lives within a year’s time? But I’m happy to hear it!
Quiet Sunday.
1. I can’t decide if I want to cut my hair or grow it out.
2. I think oxfords look cute, but not sure how to wear them so they do not look too masculine or too young.
3. I’m super sad they canceled Pitch because it was super good.
P.S. Song playing right now is Madman by Sean Rowe. YouTube it his voice is cool. Next book The Sun is Also a Star.
They cancelled Pitch? Rats! I haven’t even had a chance to watch it yet!
OK, three things:
1. The house is super quiet cos my husband is at work all this week. (He just does fill-in work these days, when someone is absent).
2. I plan to make some peanut butter cookies later.
3. I’ve got lots of reading time today yayyyy!
Thank you Maryse for listing the Commitment series. It’s SO GOOD!
And Tasha, I’ve always been a bit shy too, and overthinking things I don’t really need to stress about. And when being introduced to new people I would always get dots of nervous perspiration on my top lip and I used to be SO SELF-CONSCIOUS about it and I would always quickly swipe it away.
But that doesn’t happen now, thank goodness. It’s gotten easier as I’ve gotten older and these days I’m much more relaxed and less anxious about things in general. Don’t know whether that gives you any comfort?? But I feel like we’re all friends on here anyway, (and I don’t need any nervous perspiration!)
1. I’m back!!!
2. I met so many amazing people, I can’t even…
3. I think I’m allergic to carbs.
R!!!
*hugs!!!!*
We missed you although we also lived vicariously through you (at least I did). 😉
Also… allergic to carbs? TRAGIC!!!!
Yes! I need to know what happens next with the tapes, what happened to Alex, what’s going on with Tyler, if Hannah’s parents get justice..
Hannah…
*sob*
I still can’t bring myself to watch it. 🙁 The book was beautifully tragic and I don’t want it spoiled by the Netflix series, as great as I know it has to be from all of the buzz.
I just have to ask though…in the TV series, did he play the other side of the last tape, side 14? Did it have those two heartbreaking words? Gah, I’m gonna cry now…
1. I don’t wanna work tommow.
2. I’m super pissed I was informed our fundraiser bake sale was cancelled and not properly communicated after I spent loads of time and money getting supplies for it.
3. I lost a Netflix DVD and I’m scared to tell my Mom. (Bc it’s her account and well I feel guilty)
Tasha…..Grr. I hate a break down in communication at work. Especially when the person left holding the bag is the person who was not told.
Oh, Carbs.
Mmmm, carbs.
I have seen dissenting opinions on 13 reasons. On the same blog, lol.
Carbs are the devil. And my best friends. Heh.
I guess I was just content with the amount of info and the overall arc in 13 Reasons, and I feel like any more than that would take away from the focus of Hannah. Does that make sense? Or am I sounding like a total book snob? Come on, you know you can be honest with me…
You guys are missing out! Just try it, eveybody’s doing it. (Is my peer pressure effective at all?)
I couldn’t watch all at once, but I did watch them within a weeks time. I’m drawing a blank on that Amy, I also didn’t read the book so…msg me on goodreads the two words and I’ll tell ya if I remember. 😉
I could’ve been content if there wasn’t a season 2, the show was fantastic. BUT, I wanted more too. And I feel that they can expand on other issues that are going on with our schools today. BIG things that you seem to hear about much too often. Watch it so I don’t spoil stuff for u!
There is concern that it glamorized suicide as an answer or as a form of revenge. Or felt that way in today’s climate of so many teens committing suicide because of bullying. I believe that was the case made. Then they posted a review that felt differently which I thought was neat.
Jan, Pitch was so good. I still have the last two eps to watch. You should watch it anyway. Kind of hope, though saw no rumors, that it will get picked up elsewhere like Longmire did.
What’s with canceling shows so quick. So many classics would never have been if not given the chance.
Yes, I’ve read many conflicting reviews and I can see both sides of it. I, personally, did not see it as glamorizing at all.
Do they take streaming into consideration when they figure in how many people are watching each week? I don’t really know how they do all that, but my theory is streaming is taking over cable. I don’t know many people who even have it anymore. Like how the internet is taking over actual stores. Cell phones have taken over regular phones. That kind of thing.
I’m not sure but it is a good point.
Like the bestsellers lists for books. Do they mean as much in the age of digital?
Yeah bev, like the Firefly series was cancelled so quickly, but it’s still super popular. A pity that one never got picked up again. Way too late now, I guess. I have watched all of Longmire and enjoyed it, although the later series aren’t quite as good. Did you know the actor who plays Walt Longmire is an Australian, from Melbourne? Who knew? He sure had me fooled! I must check out Pitch. Not sure whether it’s on netflix.au.
I read one of those critical articles about 13 Reasons, saying that it made it seem that the suicide was someone else’s fault, whereas the writer (of the article) was saying no, it’s a choice YOU make and the show is not suitable for vulnerable teens to watch. I haven’t read or watched it, and I’m not going there, even to make up my own mind. I’m too weak. Yeah, I’m lame, I know. Romeo and Juliet hits me hard enough LOL, and that was just kind of an accident/ miscommunication.
Song lyric or quote.
I can think of 3 of the top of my head, lol. But pretty sure I never will.
https://www.heroesandheartbreakers.com/blogs/2017/05/quiz-what-tattoo-should-you-get#more
It said I should go floral. It’s wrong on a whole level of ooops. I’d get a treble clef, a crimson butterfly (preferably a bunch coming out of an old camera) or the word Fae.
NOT a flower.
Will do, Tasha. 😉
My tattoo quiz said: Watercolor tattoo?!? What the heck is that??
I’m a butterfly/flower kind of girl. I have two small butterfly tattoos.
Leslie,

Amy–I also thought the Netflix 13 Reasons was fantastic, and my two oldest sons watched it and also thought it was great. But none of us have read the book, and I read that the series and the book differ in many areas.
They added A LOT of drama with the friends for the Netflix series, and they also changed the way certain things happened. So since you read the book and parts of the series are so different, you may enjoy them for different reasons. (I hate to say ‘enjoy’ because of the subject matter, but you know what I mean!)
Leslie, a floral watercolor tattoo. It’s the watercolor aspect of less definition and more blending of colors.
Oh, finally finished Silence Fallen. SOOOOO good. I think it was one of the better ones from her, and I loved how the story was told. Just pure good.
I like those watercolor tattoos. I’m not up with current trends…its been 17 yrs since I even walked in tattoo parlor. I think I want my next one to be black. The colors fade fast & then look like crap. Black seems to “age” a little nicer.
My face blew up like Pikachu and my eyes disappeared when I smiled ala Renee Zellweger. Happens every time I go on vacation and live off of french fries for days on end.
Oh and I met Kandace! Loved her!
YAY KANDANCE!!!!! 😀 I love her too. You guys know that already. 😉
Still can’t believe Feyre story has come to a close! It’s already been 3 years since I fell in love with the first book and now it’s too soon to end..sort of. Love Sarah J Maas and her books! A Court of Wings and Ruin made me stay up too late, and now rereading it as I type! I’m wondering who the next main character will be…
