YAY FRIDAYYYYYYY!!! Almost my favorite day of the week other than Saturday and today I get to pick a new book. *rubs hands together with glee*

P.S. I’m still working on today’s list so keep checking back (and if you have one I should add on here, let me know). :D

TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT WE FOUND FOR THE WEEKEND :D !!

  • Be Mine by Jen Frederick <— LIVE!! THE LATEST BY JEN FREDERICK!! FOOTBALL STAR ALERT!!! Single mom abandoned by her ex, and then he swoops in... “…she’s got bigger problems to fix such as how she’s going to feed her child, where she’s going to lay her head, and how to stay hidden from her ex. There’s no room for flirtation, a hand on the small of her back, or even the way he makes her daughter smile. Nick Jackson isn’t in her plan now or ever.
  • #1 Muse by T. Gephart <— T. GEPHART’S LATEST IS LIVE!!! She’s writing fan fiction about him… and then HE finds out. ;)  ”…she’d forget that she had yet to land her dream job, and instead spent time with her dream man—Nick Larsson. Well, at least in the literary sense. Too bad he wasn’t aware or an active participant—her fictional love life, outstanding...”
  • Reid (The Davenports Book 3) by SJ McCoy
  • Resist (#2): The Riptide Series by Brooke Page
  • Stealing Sawyer (The Perfect Game Series) by Samantha Christy <— BASEBALL STAR ALERT!!! Cheryl LOVED it!
Cheryl: Finished Stealing Sawyer. Sweet, angsty sports romance. Last book in standalone, interconnected series. Loved all three books!
Jenn: I finished “A Nordic King” absolutely loved it. My favorite book of hers is “The Play” and then this one right behind it.
  • The Doctor’s Bargain by Samanthya Wyatt
  • Whole Lotta Lust (Rock Star Hearts Book 2) by Amity Cross
  • Bluebird by Ann Penny <— LIVE!! SHE’S A COUNTRY STAR & NEEDS A BREAK… “…He owned her heart, but nine years ago when he pushed her away, he shattered it to pieces. She ran from her home town and towards her dream, never looking back…until she began to lose the one thing she had left: her music. Natalie thought leaving Fairleigh the first time was the hardest decision she would ever have to make, until she is forced to make the choice again, only this time, there’s so much more on the line...”
  • The Silver Cord by Anonymous <— THE SILVER CORD BY ANONYMOUS IS LIVE!!!!! So many in our crew went CRAZY for book #1 (The Silver Cage)

Kelly: I just finished The Silver Cage and ahhhhhh. I am so sad it’s over. And I don’t know if I can read The Silver Cord. It might hurt too much. …Just finished and my heart hurts. Oy Caleb!

Jen: I read The Silver Cage!!! It was absolutely amazing. Breathtaking and heartbreaking at the same time. The writing is exquisite, and the story is so real. So raw. It’s like nothing I’ve read before. I hope to hear your thoughts!

Lisa: The Silver Cage (I’m still all stabby about it – but it was so fantastic!!!!)

Good morning! Happy Friday!

Maryse–did you see my post last night from Stacia Kane’s blog? She says that more Terrible is finally coming!!!

Grey October 5, 2018 at 6:15 AM

*tosses glitter and confetti* it’s the first weekend of October?!? How the heck did *that* happen?!? Morning, everyone!

Leslie M October 5, 2018 at 6:31 AM

*wishes everyone happy Friday while basking in the glitter*

Jenn October 5, 2018 at 7:51 AM

Good Morning and Happy Friday-

*dancing in glitter and catching confetti*

I have to ask-I am so excited, anyone else going to see “A Star Is Born* this weekend? I am listening to the soundtrack right now on Spotify. So So Good-Bradely Cooper-Squeee he sings for real in this movie :) and always been a Sam Elliot fan since *Mask* with Cher…..

Jenn October 5, 2018 at 7:53 AM

I forgot to mention just listening to this soundtrack has me all weepy :(

Cheryl October 5, 2018 at 8:03 AM

Yeh friday!!! It’s my day off, but I’m not feeling great so laying in bed sipping my coffee and reading.

Jenn- I’ve watched the trailers for A Star is Born. I do want to see it, just not sure if have time this weekend.

Maryse October 5, 2018 at 8:08 AM

I want to see it too!!

bev October 5, 2018 at 8:58 AM

Was going to start my new book on my commute and instead listening to music with my eyes closed.

Like I said last night my show creeped me out a bit. I’m curious if Amy will find it creepy or if I’m just that much of a wimp.

Leslie M October 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM

I want to see A Star is Born so bad, but am afraid. I like to watch emotional things by myself at home. I don’t like being a blubbering idiot at theater…so embarrassing.

Robyn October 5, 2018 at 10:15 AM

OMG! You guys have to read Medicine Man. It was so good. The H is a Psychiatrist at a mental facility and the h is his patient. She’s 18 and he’s in His 30’s…so taboo. There is just something I really like about a mental hospital romance between doctor and patient. This book hits all the buttons.

I’m going to wait until next week to see A Star is Born. Hopefully the crowds die down. I’m in love with that teaser they have been showing.

Maryse October 5, 2018 at 10:46 AM

*thud*

OMG NAY WHAT WHAT WHAAAAAAAAAATTT!!!???? Oh I’m going to make a news post this weekend and that’s going on there. YAY US!!! How I LOVED Terrible!!!!!!

Maryse October 5, 2018 at 10:47 AM

Oh and UPDATE!!!!

I just got the results of my skin biopsy this morning and it’s benign!!! YAYYYY!! *phew*

I’ve been stressing over that birthmark and monitoring it for years, and it’s been acting weird lately. THANK. GOODNESS. And now it’s gone anyway so I don’t have to keep worrying about it. :D

Amy October 5, 2018 at 10:50 AM

Good morning, ladies! Bluebird looks quite promising up there. *fingers crossed*

I got called in today. BOO. Except for the nice chunk of change I’ll be earning as a result. ;) But I’m hoping to make a dent in ILYILH in the downtime. Here’s to hoping it will make my chest splotchy!!

bev, I’m starting it tonight and I might even get hubby to watch it…he usually really likes Korean movies so I’m sure he’ll be interested in this show. Popcorn, Hershey’s Drops, Twizzlers filled bites, and (spiked) soda…I’m cheatin’ tonight! :D

Amy October 5, 2018 at 11:26 AM

That’s WONDERFUL Maryse!!

*throws confetti in the air*

*squeezy hugs*

Jenn October 5, 2018 at 11:30 AM

Leslie-I know what you mean but it’s just been too damn long since I went and saw a movie and I really don’t want to wait. My Mother in Law and I are going to the first matinee on Sunday so hopefully crowd wise it won’t be too bad since football is on and all. I usually avoid going to movies because of crying…But a girls got to get out! :) the last movie I went to that I really cried was The Hurt Locker and before that Monster’s Inc.

Jenn October 5, 2018 at 11:34 AM

Maryse-YAY!!!! that is awesome news! *hugs*
Ironically I had to go for my physical yesterday and I have two on my back that he was a little concerned about so they he sent me to a dermatologist today who confirmed they needed to be removed and so they are on Tuesday.

Jenn October 5, 2018 at 11:42 AM

Robyn-yes that teaser got me…and the sound track I’ve been listening to definitely giving me the feels! I believe they both will be nominated for Oscar’s for this movie! I have Medicine Man and plan on reading that this weekend!

Cheryl October 5, 2018 at 12:07 PM

Maryse, that’s great news!!!

Amy. I thought the same about Bluebird, plus I like the title!

Nay October 5, 2018 at 12:17 PM

I’m reading Medicine Man right now! I’m only at 10% because of silly real life, but I’m getting ready to pick it back up.

Maryse–In her blog post, Stacia explained kind of why she’s been off the grid for a while (moving back over here from England), but she promised it’s happening! I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much, but I read my review of Chasing Magic last night and it made me realize how much I miss Terrible, Chess, and even Lex. I may just need to re-read part or all of the series!

Amy October 5, 2018 at 12:24 PM

Cheryl, right? Bluebird has such a sweet ring to it.

Okay, so is Medicine man dual or his-only POV?

Robyn October 5, 2018 at 12:53 PM

Amy- Medicine Man is dual, but more the h’s POV. I’m so glad others are reading this book!

YAY for you Maryse!

Amy October 5, 2018 at 12:55 PM

Okay then…click!

bev October 5, 2018 at 2:31 PM

Yay, Maryse. The wait most of been horrible.

Amy let me know if you, and potentially your husband, like it. So far I’m intrigued. Slightly creeped out but intrigued.
I’m thinking noodles and Kimchi.
Then maybe chocolate and chai.

Leslie M October 5, 2018 at 3:26 PM

Maryse, glad to hear birthmark is nothing serious. Health scares are so stressful. *hands over a keto-friendly cocktail*

Medicine Man looks good, but I’m going to wait for Nay’s feedback before I try it.

Tonight I want to eat ALL the food. I am seriously craving EVERYTHING!

Jan October 5, 2018 at 5:54 PM

Hooray Maryse. That’s good news!! *hugs*

I like the look of Bluebird up there. Looks like the h is an Aussie too who makes it big in Nashville. I’m gonna check that one out.

Update on two of my fav authors. Lauren Gilley – I’ve been checking out her FB page. The long awaited part 3 of Prodigal Son is coming out this month. HOPEFULLY!!!! The third book in her paranormal series is coming too. Dragon Slayer. I’m not a huge fan of that series cos I struggle to read about vampires and blood. Yechh. But the big exciting news is that she’s going to write ANOTHER DARTMOOR BOOK. Yayyy!! Super yay!!!! It’s #7 and gonna be called When In Rome. No release date yet, but I can wait if I know it’s coming. Woohoo! My fav bikers.

Also another of my favs authors, Nia Forrester, says on her website she’s working on Devin’s story (from the fabulous Commitment series). It’s gonna be called The Broken. Not sure when it will be out. But there IS a release date for a book of 4 stories about our fav characters from the Commitment series. The book is called Four: Stories of Marriage and it’s out on October 21st. I’ve preordered. I’m a bit nervous though cos I don’t want any of my favs to have any problems. In my imagination they’re just happily living their HEAs. Eek. I’m a bit scared of this new book!

Jan October 5, 2018 at 5:57 PM

I want to go see A Star is Born too :D If my hubs won’t come I’ll just go by myself.

Nay October 5, 2018 at 7:33 PM

Ladies, hug your kids and tell them how important it is to wear their seat belts!

We just got home from picking up my 17 yr old son from where he was in a wreck with 4 of his friends. The owner of the car (who was driving) was going 100mph and swerved to miss a car and lost control. He clipped 2 trees and ended up in a ditch, and the car is totaled, completely destroyed. My son had just told him that one of these days when he was going so fast over a hill, he was going to meet a car in his lane and wreck, and then it happened.

Thank the Lord my son is just bruised and banged up. The driver and one of the boys may have some broken bones. The state troopers said that If they hadn’t had their seat belts on, one or more would likely be dead.

bev October 5, 2018 at 7:39 PM

Oh Nay. I’m so glad that your son and his friends are ok. That had to be really scary.

Nay October 5, 2018 at 7:42 PM

I literally almost passed out when I saw the car.

bev October 5, 2018 at 7:46 PM

That happened to a friend and her mom when I was a teen.
Couldn’t imagine how scary that visual would be.

Leslie M October 5, 2018 at 8:10 PM

Oh Nay! Thank goodness everyone ok. I have pretzel tummy just thinking about it.

JulieO October 6, 2018 at 5:54 AM

Fill me in on TERRIBLE please.

Jenn October 6, 2018 at 6:40 AM

*hugs* Nay glad he is okay; when I read your first sentence of your post I was afraid to read the rest!

Jenn October 6, 2018 at 6:43 AM

Maryse-I am loving so hard on Zeke; You know the real douchebag a**h***
from the first book….I am loving this book more than the first book; well so far anyway…over half way through. :)

bev October 6, 2018 at 8:57 AM

The second ep of the show I’m watching didnt creep me out as much, but if he hurts that cat…

Maryse October 6, 2018 at 9:18 AM
Tasha J October 6, 2018 at 1:01 PM

So, I’m pretty attached to Bill. You think this will go away and I’ll accept Eric? Also, Sam annoys me. Lafayette is fantastic tho!
No reading time for me this weekend. I’m painting my daughter’s room. It’s utter madness with littles. I’m making my daughter babysit while I paint. As much as she can. Who’s crazy idea was this for a gift?!

Nay October 6, 2018 at 2:07 PM

Tasha–I went back and forth from Bill to Eric throughout the series, but my main thing was always for Eric. I never did watch the last season. Got too crazy and strayed too much from what I remembered in the books.

Nay October 6, 2018 at 2:10 PM

I read the scenes with Chess and Terrible over and over! I really need to go back and read the series again.

bev October 6, 2018 at 3:26 PM

I never finished True Blood either.

I was so sure of what book I wanted to read next, and now not so sure.

I’m nervous not hearing from Amy.

JulieO October 6, 2018 at 4:13 PM

Thanks Maryse. I ordered the first book but will be awhile before I read. Have a few ahead waiting in line calling my name.

I read Nordic King and was just so-so with it. Was good but was a little disappointed maybe because I have such high expectations of Karina Halles books? My rating would have been 3.5 or maybe a 4. Will be interested in what everyone thinks.

Cheryl October 6, 2018 at 6:02 PM

Nay, just read your comment. So glad your son and his friends are ok. A parents worst fear when their kids are able to drive.

Cheryl October 6, 2018 at 6:26 PM

Think I’m going to read Bluebird next.

bev October 6, 2018 at 6:34 PM

How did my tbr pile happen?

I’m not even reading and it is still growing.

I went to download a KU….wrong side of the tracks romance…and I have too many there too.

It’s crazy.

So i need to read one of my ku books at least.

Amy October 6, 2018 at 7:33 PM

Don’t be nervous, bev…no news is good news right now. ;)

Hubby was getting a snack before we started it last night, and while he was doing that I fell asleep as soon as I was comfy on the couch. That’s what happens when you have a 55-hour work week. *sigh*

And today my internet is being stupid so I haven’t been able to watch it. We’re going out for drinks with some friends in a few minutes, and when we get home I’m giving it another shot.

Never fear, my friend. I trust you. ;)

Amy October 6, 2018 at 7:38 PM

NAY! So glad your boy is safe and that no one lost their life!! Oh momma, your heart just doesn’t need that kind of scare. :?

I need to backtrack and find out more about this Terrible character who has all y’all in a tizzy…

For now, ILYILH already has my tummy knotted up from the foreshadowing alone. And I am LOVE the h’s voice. Nothing flowery, no unnecessary distracting descriptions, realistic observations (about herself, others, and her surroundings), and just plain blunt. Exactly how I like it with stories like this. Fingers crossed I keep loving it this much.

bev October 6, 2018 at 8:17 PM

Amy dont worry about it. Make sure you get enough rest.
Though wouldn’t mind the paycheck.

Grey October 6, 2018 at 10:12 PM

OMG, Nay! I am so glad your boy and his friends are safe!!! *hugs* and more *hugs* sending more positivity out into the universe to keep all our babies and friends safe tonight and always. (I know, it’s a tall order, but… if we don’t put it out there…)

Maryse. *hugs* I’ve been praying so hard for you too, my dear friend. So so so glad to hear the good news. I’ve got another one I have to have lobbed off too, I hear ya, girl friend.

Jenn October 7, 2018 at 6:48 AM

Good Morning

Very rainy lazy Sunday morning here-I say lazy because although I have stuff I need to do before leaving to see “ A Star Is Born” I opted to start “Bluebird” instead of “Medicine Man” and already I can foresee nothing getting done. I only stopped now to make hubs blueberry pancakes. So far so good…. loving Luke

bev October 7, 2018 at 8:32 AM

For some reason I keep waking up at around 2.
I dont like it.
I did finish a book though more of a skim at the end.

Ok, I’m deciding between:

Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse
The Accident Season by Moira Fowley Doyle
The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo
Menagerie by Rachel Vincent
Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff
An Unkindness of Magicians or Roses and Rot by Kat Howard

Something atmospheric and lush with a bit of a bite.

Nay October 7, 2018 at 10:51 AM

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, everyone! I feel like my life is a constant prayer request! lol

All the boys are okay. Bruised, cut up, and sore, but okay. One broke his collarbone and my son’s knee is bothering him. The driver’s mom called me this morning and I felt so bad for her. I told her that I’m on my 3rd son now, so I know every feeling she’s going through. I was in her place 2 years ago when my oldest went into a ditch with his truck and the cops came to my house the next morning to arrest him for dui. It’s heartwrenching to have to watch the police take your child away in handcuffs. So I told her to try to concentrate of the fact that there’s plenty for them to be thankful for (no one was killed; her son wasn’t arrested), even though it may not feel like it now. And then we cried together.

So enough of the heavy! Did anyone go see A Star is Born yet??

Nay October 7, 2018 at 10:54 AM

And btw, Maryse, I’m so happy that your tests came back all clear!

My husband had malignant melanoma about 25 years ago from a mole on his back that turned bad. It bothered him for 2 years and he let it go. They ended up taking a chunk the size of a hockey puck out of his back, but he didn’t have to do anything else. Always get moles checked, especially if they’re changing color or shape!

Jenn October 7, 2018 at 2:50 PM

Nay just got back and I absolutely loved it!

Leslie M October 7, 2018 at 3:19 PM

Jenn, will it make me bawl my eyes out?

Cheryl October 7, 2018 at 3:54 PM

Jenn, I’m wondering the same thing and if they stayed true to the original story. I know for this one, there’s a lot of original music.

I did start Bluebird. The start was a little disappointing with the writing- didn’t flow;( if she uses whilst one more time, ugh), but I’m getting into it now. So far good, not great.

Jenn October 7, 2018 at 4:00 PM

Honestly-OMG YES…..I could not stop crying the last 20 minutes or so but Leslie I was not alone and I assure you you won’t be either! When the movie ended not a soul got up there were plenty of men there too

Nay October 7, 2018 at 4:11 PM

Hubs said he’d take me to see it next weekend. If it looks like the crowds have gone down, we may go on Saturday afternoon.

bev October 7, 2018 at 5:01 PM

Not that far into Trail of Lightning but I am liking it so far. If you are into UF, maybe give it a shot.
I’m only 15% in so it could change.
Definitely a bit dark.

Jenn October 7, 2018 at 5:57 PM

Cheryl I never saw the original and honestly did not know the story so I unfortunately can not answer that I fell in love with the music in the trailer teaser for this one which is why I wanted to see it badly plus I know a lot people don’t like her but I love Lady GaGa and the songs she sang in this just WOW

Jenn October 7, 2018 at 5:58 PM

And Cheryl lol I agree with the whilst thing…is that an Australian thing?

Jenn October 7, 2018 at 6:02 PM

Nay-I couldn’t get my hubs to go with me and I was shocked by the number of men that were there. more than half of the theater at the 12:10 show I went to today was empty though so crowd wise u should be okay

Jenn October 7, 2018 at 7:44 PM

There is a book that I have been stalking by Heather M Orgeron and Kate Stewart called Heartbreak Warfare that is expected to come out in November I am hoping some will brave it with me as I don’t think I can do it alone.

Maryse October 7, 2018 at 7:48 PM

Jenn. THAT sounds like exactly a MARMY book. Kate Stewart is a sure bet with many of us here.

Maryse October 7, 2018 at 7:49 PM

I love Lady GaGa too! I can’t wait to see it. And the Queen movie.

Jenn October 7, 2018 at 7:53 PM

Sorry for all my messages but I just found out about a horrific accident that happened where I live. 20 people lost their life yesterday. I don’t watch the news so just finding out from my mom. So unbelievably sad-please pray for these families-from what my mom told me they haven’t released much about the victims as they are still notifying family but 4 of them were sisters. How as parents can you cope when all four of your heartbeats are gone-just no words for that kind of heartbreak

Jenn October 7, 2018 at 7:54 PM

Maryse they showed the preview to the Queen movie and yes looks good!

Michele G October 7, 2018 at 8:51 PM

Jenn, that breaks my heart…I cannot imagine losing 4 children at once…horrific!

Nay. I’m glad your son and the other boys are ok with no life threatening injuries…

Maryse, yay for your good results!!

Hugs to everyone!

I’m finishing Gus (had to jump in after Bright Side)! I seriously could have used buddies for these – pure free for all tears flowing down my face and me saying no to the book as I’m reading it. Such good reads though – unbelievably beautiful books.

Amy October 7, 2018 at 9:24 PM

Jenn, that was the limo crash, right? Prayers going out to the families. I can’t even fathom losing four children at once.

Amy October 7, 2018 at 9:32 PM

All I had to see was Kate Stewart and Marmy and I was sold!

Until I read the blurb.

Too close to home. :?

Amy October 7, 2018 at 9:38 PM

Michele G! Why didn’t you say you needed Manny?? If ANY books need Manny and the support of your friends here, it is THOSE two books. But how healing was Gus? It was like Bright Side in reverse. ;)

And now, because I can’t resist, here’s the song that always, ALWAYS immediately brings Bright Side to mind for me:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cqJoVlnmdFQ

Amy October 7, 2018 at 9:42 PM

(Now who is posting a ton of messages, Jenn? *snort*)

And this is for Gus (oh, sweet Gus):
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YlMMzdLpMTo

Jenn October 8, 2018 at 4:21 AM

Amy yes the limo crash I couldn’t even continue reading last night after finding out, just cuddled up next to my fur babies and cried myself to sleep thinking and praying for all the families.

Michele, I read Bright Side

Jenn October 8, 2018 at 4:23 AM

But did not read Gus, Amy mentions healing so now I want to read it and Amy those songs just perfect

Tasha J October 8, 2018 at 5:24 AM
Maryse October 8, 2018 at 8:10 AM

LOL TASHA!!!! so cute!!! I want to be ramen noodles for Halloween!! How clever ;)
