Today is an extra special post ’cause TWO highly anticipated books in series we LOVED have just gone live!!! A super-angsty romance one with all sorts of painful life twists (Suanne Laqueur’s The Fish Tales SeriesΒ <—Β I read #1 & #2 and loved ’em) AND…
<— A gritty bad-ass biker one (that one there to the left fromΒ Lauren Gilley’s Dartmoor Series). In fact, while I’m showing the cover, the author says:
“I pulled the trigger tonight. It’s so fresh, the cover’s not even showing up yet on the Amazon page…” <— LOL!! It’s true… almost looks like a pre-order without the book cover, but nope! It’s live!
Ready to see what else we’ve found, and what the latest reader recommendations are?

Already highlighting up a storm per usual with her books.” and Lisa asks:
Lisa: So can I go from book 1 to book 3? Or is reading 2 important? I read somewhere number 2 was from Daisy’s POV.
Sadie: I loved book 2. Even more than 1 actually. And you learn a lot about Daisy and other characters’ journeys.
Lisa: Ok thx!
Maryse: Agreed! Daisy’s book was my favorite (#2) but BOTH are amazing and completely different experiences.
Life InterruptedΒ by Yessi Smith <— LOST HER MEMORY she lost her memory but… “…when Travis Keillar comes into my life everything changes. Captive Prince: Book One of the Captive Prince TrilogyΒ byΒ C. S. PacatΒ <— OUR FELLOW READERS ARE LOVING THIS LIKE CRAZY!! This one appears to be the hit of the week and a new release is coming out in just a couple of weeks! Perhaps there’s an unredeemable character in this one? I think so ’cause they are hating on one certain character. Tee hee!! I love when that happens! fabi says: “β…I hate Laurent. His court is full of weasels. Iβm praying for Damen but that seems like a useless prayer. Heβs so f****d. Iβm so into this book, I just want to talk and talk and talk about it.
“
- This LoveΒ byΒ Samantha VictoriaΒ <—SHE SAID IT GAVE HER SAME FEELING BEAUTIFUL DISASTER DID ALERT!Β Katie HIGHLY recommends this one, and she said some magic words!!! “Ok so there is a book that I really think you would enjoy. Best in series so far Elle Kennedy!!Β Five squishy heart stars for me.” and fabi agrees! “I seem to have a permanent smile plastered on my face any time I read one of Elle Kennedyβs novels. I just live her coming of age stories. The college shenanigans are a hoot.”
RicochetΒ byΒ Keri LakeΒ <— DARK READ ALERT!! Cristina just read this one! “βRicochetβ and talk about doing a 180! Whew that book is not for the light hearted, but with that cover and blurb?! Couldnβt resist! Another one off my TBR list. It was fantastic, but has some graphic violence, so beware if thatβs not your thing. Me? Iβm more HBO than Lifetime. It had me on the edge of my seat! Just saw Pepper Winter Rule and Ruin for . 99 was the on someone’s rec list?
I’m dying. Honest to goodness dying. Because I don’t have time to read all the books I want to read. Even if I didn’t work, shower, eat or sleep, I wouldn’t have time to read all the books I want to read.
From this list alone I’ve already targeted
January Calendar Girl (#1 on NYT, omg),
Richochet (that is one seriously good looking dude on the cover),
Our Impossible Love (same feel as BD, ugh, that’s a no brainer),
Flashback (a punky misunderstood songwriter? umm, yeah, I’m all over that),
This Love (“delicious bad-boy” in the blurb, got me for sure)
*sigh* I’m dead. I haven’t even looked at the pre-orders which I know are shouting my name. The ones I had lined up to read next are cringing in fear of being moved back in line.
Maryse I think Hard Ever After is 2/2 release?????? I thought I goofed but Amazon says 2/2 when I pulled up your link.
Alessandra Torre has cover reveal but no preorder until March she states for Chloe. Thats her compiled Cosmo story that I did not follow. Anyone follow it????
Just one clicked Slave to Love. I love office romances! Also getting Our Impossible Love and This Love π
Are we BR Captive Prince tomorrow?
I am reading Debt by Nina G. Jones but don’t know how I feel about it :/
Anne, some of us have already started Captive Prince, and some *cough, Michelle, cough* have already finished it. So please, jump on in. I need someone else to vent with.
2 dollars for Written in Red? Um… Everyone buy it! π I just got it for my Kindle instead of (I think Kobo? I don’t want to go searching for it.) Greave Mercy looks good! It looks like some major angsty can happen. Then three wants in the pre-orders: Court of Mist and Fury, Glass Sword and of course, Feverborn! π
Thank you Maryse!
Oh and Flashback sounds great too! So many books so little time!
Loud is How I Love You by Mercy Brown looks good.
NA releasing Tuesday by new author.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TY3ZO8C/ref=pe_385040_112047530_TE_DP
My pleasure, my friends, and every one you guys have mentioned are exactly the standouts, to me. Especially for me:
January Calendar Girl
Ricochet
Our Impossible Love
YES YES YES!!!
Thank you Theresa!!
I will take that one out… looks like the date got pushed back from when I first found it.
π
Maryse *waves for her attention* ok I’m confused so I looked up gena showalters the darkest fire and it’s already out for 99p? Has been since May 2010? And when I click on ur link it’s a different cover but the blurb is the same seeeee confused!?!? Oh hey guys how are we all? The freak is freaking out here lol
It’s a re-release. I think the Kindle edition is just being re-released on accident? Not sure. Same is happening with Darkest Fire.
Finished Debt and it was too much for me. I just could never forgive him for what he did. Just no! There’s boundaries that shouldn’t be crossed. I don’t mind violence and dirty sex etc but what he did its unforgivable. So yeah this book was not for me but at least I did finish it.
I’m intrigued by This Love after the BD comparison. Anyone else feel nostalgic when being reminded of books like BD, Slammed and Thoughtless? Those were books from my “early NA reading days” and I miss the newness of the feelings those books stirred up. *sigh*
Anne…is that one from the Indebted series by Pepper Winters?
Amy no its from Nina G. Jones.
Oh yes I remember when I first read Slammed. It was such a unique book back then that I remember staying up until 3:00 am till I finished it. It was so powerful and beautiful. I should re-read it soon.
Moon Called is 1.99. First Mercy book. Buy it ladies. Buy it like there is no tomorrow.
I just did. Have been wanting to do a re-read for forever.
Hopefully be reading in an hour or so. It is either a curl up with a book or movie type night.
Yes on the Patricia Briggs. The first ones were great, lasted ones got a little too weird for me but of course I still am reading the series. One of the classics.
This is a first for me. I have so many new releases that I want to read that I am feeling so overwhelmed!! I agree Fabi, not enough time to read! *thunk*
ACED, Here To Stay, Your Irresistible Love, Hearts In Darkness Duet, Unhinge and don’t get me started on next week’s releases.
Have to decide if I am going to read Iced & Burned before Feverborn. So mixed based on comments about those two books. Can I just read Burned?
Marsye, Lynn Rae Harris and Ivy/wright have new Bayou book both releasing 1/16.
Cheryl, personally, I would say you have to read Iced first. But maybe if I wasn’t so OCD about reading things in order, I could picture skipping Iced. I think your imagination could fill in a few of the blanks when you read Burned.
You just derailed my plans with this list. How am I supposed to start anything with Dartmoor #4 up there??? It’s AIDAN’S book. Been waiting for that. Oh Man. Now what???? I shouldn’t even read these huge lists.
Cheryl – I loved Iced. I waited way way way too long to read it, assuming Dani’s story wouldn’t be worth it. But it was. It made me love her even more, and i do think it’s important to the whole storyline. (Burned was a big ole disappointment for me).
Amy – yes, I miss the feel I got from the “early NA days” – same as the feeling I got from the “right after 50 Shades” days. But I am burned out on billionaires, kink just for the sake of it, and all the BD wanna-bes. So what is the next little mini genre we can all get into? The MC thing is still okay for me. I am thinking more romantic comedy???
Cheryl, Agree. Need to read them in order.
I loved Iced. Like MichelleS didn’t think I would. She wasn’t my favorite and now want more her less Mac. It was fun.
That’s a hard question. I’m not sure what the new trend will be.
Iced had pieces that will be important later. I know that seems silly to say but with the arc and goal, stuff that were in Iced seem extremely important. Same with Burned, though I have to re-read it. I can only think of two things right now that were important, but I know there were more.
So I tried the sample of Grave Mercy and I’m just not feeling it. So what do I do? Start re-reading Written in Red. π Yes, everyone should read Moon Called. That series is so good!
The new trend needs to happen soon. Let’s hope it’s not bully books. I love them too much for it to be a trend. *shudders*
New trend – MINDF&%KS!!!!!!
Or…you know…whatever.
“New trend β MINDF&%KS!!!!!!” <--- YES PLEASE!!! Agreed, and I'm IN! π
Bev, I just finished Captive Prince, and like Michelle, I’m moving straight into Prince’s Gambit.
Since you like this series, You should seriously consider reading the Measure of Devotion trilogy.
Definitely MINDF&%KS!! It’s funny that you say that Amy because I finally finished my list of my fav books for 2015 (yes Maryse I sent it to you *smiling*) and MINDF&%KS seem to be the trend for me. LOL… I, too, remember my early NA reading days and I long for the feelings I got from books like Thoughtless, Fifty Shades, Beautiful Disaster, etc. Staying up till 4am. Reading until my eyes burned and falling asleep with my kindle on my chest. I find the only books that do that for me anymore are the ones that screw do with my mind. π
I obviously can’t write tonight… In my last post I meant to write, “that do screw with my mind.” LOL…
I’m thinking I need to try some of these psych-thrillers that Maryse recommends. I haven’t dove too deep into that genre yet. π
Reading Flashback and liking it so far π
Detoured off original plan and finished the Dirty Billionaire series (Dirty Together)…. I thought it was a good little series- not a hard read. Had already 1-clicked the Score but opted to read Unhinge first *mind whirling*. Wow…just wow.
Saved the Score for a Friday treat ( thought I would need a “lighter” read after Unhinge) – so glad I did. Even though I just finished the Score, I’m kinda feeling sad and was not expecting that emotion out of it….:0(
DG I too just finished Dirty Billionaire and enjoyed it but seriously it could have been one book..a standalone, I think each book took a couple of hours to read. I liked the h, she reminded me of Summer in Hollywood Dirt, feisty country gal.
I know what you mean about The Score….the level of emotion was unexpected….I loved it.
:0 Bev I didn’t see that double cross coming! Book 2 is really awesome! I want to finish the last 30% but I have to go to work π Wish book 3 was out sooner because I know when I finish, I will want to keep reading!
Lisa – I agree! Dirty Billionaire definitely should have been a standalone. I really enjoyed that the H/h were not the “normal” rich guy saves destitute girl. Unless the whole series is available, I really, really try to avoid cliffhangers. I am a HEA and standalone kinda girl!
The Score was another winner by Elle Kennedy. I laughed a lot – surprised my hubs didn’t question what was so funny. *sniff, sniff* I guess I was hanging on hopes that Beau would have his own book…maybe with Sabrina.
Lol. You only have 30% to go in the second & I am only 30% into the first.
I read them back to back the first time and very hard not having the third book.I am reading slow but really they are pretty fast reads. But I definitely needed to re read to remember and keep things straight.
Finished The Score last night. WOW. It. Was. Amazing. And Dean and Allie? Well I just fell in love with both. Lots and lots of feels that I didn’t expect. Oh and so happy “Winston” got a little notoriety!!! Guys I prooooomise this will be a 5* read for you too!!! No idea what to read now!!! Not ready to let go of Dean.;)
Fabi, MichelleS & Bev- Thanks for all the comments about Iced & Burned. Guess I’ll have to hunker down and read them before I can start Feverborn. Think I did start Iced before, but dnf, Dani wasn’t my fav character either and perhaps I didn’t give the book a chance to change my mind about her. Such long books when you’re not totally in to them.
Next, trend… hmmm…MINDF&%KS is generalized so could have different MC’s- sports, rock star, actors, so a lovely combination of all my favorites!! LOL!
Maryse is being very quiet. Maybe that means she has a gem of a book up her sleeve.
Every time I see this I think of you ladies, lol.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aU_c8aabw2Y
Cheryl – I bet Iced surprises you – and I bet you will LOVE Dani (like we all do now). She’s such a cool character. All those candy bars…. seriously, you can’t not fall in love with her after Iced. Don’t skip these two – there are some major things that happen that I am sure would confuse you if you skipped them.
MINDF#&KS – YES!!! That’s it. because they are still keeping me interested. That, and books like Last Hour of Gann, that just have no genre, because they are so amazing.
Bev – LOL – Amazon and little ponies – yup, that about sums it up…..
Woo-hoo!!!!!! My girls!!! MINDF&%K PUPPY PILE!!!!
Speaking of MF’s, I actually have a few hours today to do nothing but sit and finish Unhinge. *happy dance*
OMG Bev, I love that commercial! Every time I see it, I end up getting that song stuck in my head for the rest of the day. “Little man, when you stand by my side…”
However, I think that commercial reminds you of us because SOME of us are shorties and the rest of y’all are all tall and proud like those mean horses ignoring that poor little guy. π
The only thing with those types of books or movies is they must be well crafted. Or so freaking fun you don’t notice the holes.
Or maybe the little horse represents all of us WiR readers chasing after all you to read it.
Lol.
MichelleS, that makes me almost snort my coffee. That “sums it up”—lol.
Oooo fabi I was just reading ur favourites list and I’m quite intrigued about illuminae I will admit I haven’t read a si fi book before soooo I’m thinking that will be the first since u were very adamant about it lol it’s on the tbr now anyways!
Yeah, Laura. I hope you like it. Reactions seem to be either LOVE or NOT. lol, not much middle ground.
Bev, Michelle, why, why, why do I always have to be the weird one? Something is wrong with me. I’m at 20% of Prince’s Gambit and I honestly liked the first one better. I hate being the odd man out. *pout*
Lol, Fabi.
I hope it picks up for you. How is Laurent treating you?
I’m going to be stuck at 50% of first one for awhile. No reading time.
He’s not as bad so far in book 2. But I think it would take an act of God for me to forgive him for the things he did in book 1.
Stirred Up by SE Hall and Angela Graham is free thru January 19. It’s a funny, lighthearted CR, and for my twin Grey, the H is a doctor, so some funny medical comedy/events.
Bev, I don’t know why, but I always think of the song All The Pretty Little Horses when I see that ad. π
Yep Amy, you, me and Maryse- the pretty little horses!! π
Oh Fabi I think you’ll forgive Laurent. I know he did some horrible things but I am rooting for them in Kings Rising! After how Prince’s Gambit ends I need to know how things are going to work out in book 3. Less than a month to go! Yaay!!
So I am reading Flashback and its ok. Its not bad but it isn’t amazing either. Also the H’s name is Percival. I just keep picturing a British History teacher not a rockstar lol
Guys I need an epic read, one that sweeps me up my feet. It can be any subgenre (contemporary, historical, fantasy, pnr). Any suggestions?
Haha Fabi you are weird π It seems everyone likes the second better and oh boy I lovveeeedddd it! The last 30% was especially WOW! I was hanging on every word and rereading some paragraphs. The ending gave me chills! GAH I need the next book right now. THIS SECOND! The scene Bev with D and L talking about Charcy gave me an ulcer…edge of my seat, just chewing on my fingernails tension! So many twists and ploys…masterful construction of a detailed plot that still flowed so smoothly. I didn’t expect book 2 to hit it out of the park when book 1 was just ok for me, although intriguing enough to obviously carry on. Bev, super awesome fantabulous rec π
I agree, thank you Bev, for organising such a great buddy read.
Michelle, what are you going to read next?
I was just going through all the reader fav lists I didn’t read and saw I missed your list Fabi! Thankfully I went and backtracked posts whew π
I don’t know what to read. I was bouncing around the house in a happy book high and need to start something…or I will be forced to clean instead!
WHAT?? How did I miss your favorite’s list Fabi… just looked it up and read it. Loved your descriptions…maybe I’ll read more sci-fi/pnr/dystopian this year!! π
Ok after I finish Flashback I am starting Ground Rules. I know book 3 is coming out Feb 23rd, not too far away π Its going to be a completely different book for me so I am excited!
Just squeezed in Dirty Billionaire and last night read Love in Darkness and Love in Light….all wonderful easy HEA reads with little smatterings of angst and tension. Just what I needed. Its bloody hot again here…96 degrees today expected to be up to 113 degrees by mid week. My brain melts a bit in this weather so I dont need anything to challenging to read. Beach beckoning.
Anne Im waiting for final installment before starting GR. Thinking of tackling The Man I Love or the rockstar duo Fame and Toxic that Kelly recommended.
Or maybe a KA…Sebring…she always gives good HEA.
What are you in the mood for Michelle.
Lisa who’s the author of Fame and Toxic?
Lisa Sebring was so good!! Loved it!
A shout out for Anne Bishop’s Written in Red. I was in the mood for something different. I’m kind of becoming de-sensitized to romance novels. It was fantastic. I couldn’t put it down. The story telling is phenomenal. Thanks to everyone who recommended it.
Finished Flashback and it was just ok. It was so cliche with the innocent, insecure girl and the rockstar “bad boy” guy. I never connected with the MC’s and never truly understood why they were in love. A 2.5/5 for me.
Bev, I didn’t really feel in the mood for anything after such a great read (yey you again!) so I just went to my default paranormal pile. I have a lot of series to continue. Went with Imp series for now but I might read some Chicagoland Vampires since I’m behind there too – couple people talking about it here got me thinking about those books again.
Teri, keep going! The rest are really amazing too and book 4 is out March 8th π
I have a couple of loaned books I need to get to. I have the first in the Imp series and the first in Edgelanders. Since those have time constraints I think I’m starting Imp next.
Anne Fame and Toxic are written by Meghan Quinn and Kelly says they are her best rocker CR since Thoughtless. Sounded promising.
Michelle I will definitely keep going! I already bought #2.
Fabi, did you finish?
I now need to catch up…..and then probably talk. I love all the plotting & intrigue. And yes that ending.
Does anyone know when Lauren Stewart’s Virtually Impossible comes out….I thought it was due 2015?
I read the first in this series Darker Waters ages ago and loved it.
I finished The Score. Oh dear… that bathroom scene *giggle, snort, tears*. I liked it! I still liked The Deal better, but it was a solid read. I am wicked intrigued to see where she takes it for Tucker’s story though… wow, what a nugget to drop on us at the end there! Thank you again to Tessa for letting me borrow it, you are a rockstar. No such Murphy’s law for me though, my Amazon cards are still missing in action :'(
I have a HUGE TBR list, I really will live if I can’t buy any new books for a while. The world will not end… *I may have just had a mini-Tourette’s style outburst of profanity and looked to see what time it is and wondered if it was appropriate to open a bottle of wine*
Started Here To Stay last night. I love how the author writes, but it has dragged somewhat. Will stick with it because I want to see where Erik and Daisy end up.
Lisa, good to hear about the Love in Darkness duo because I think that is next on my tbr list. Although, The Baller by Vi Keeland is supposed to be released tomorrow- so that’s DEFINITELY my next read!! π
Fabi, the Imp series is cool, funny and the main character is just unique. I really like the first book and they supposedly get better. Half way through book 2 now and might roll right into book 3.
Bev, I really want to discuss a lot but yeah I will wait until the BR is done. I think some were starting this weekend. I still can’t get over the last third or so and the ending. I’m scared of how Laurent will eventually react…it can’t be good right?!
Bev, yes I finished book 2 yesterday. I know I’m the odd man out, but I liked book 1 better. I ate that one up. Thanks so much for the recommendation.
Michelle, I started Imp. This is one of Tessa’s recs. Glad to hear you also liked it enough to go to book 2.
Fabi, seriously how can you like book 1 better?! So much happens in 2…I’m surprised. I can’t list those ‘things’ but yeah you surprise me π Are you going to read the last book?
What can I say? I already admitted I’m weird. The story just didn’t go in the direction that I wanted it to. Laurent didn’t redeem himself and I seriously doubt he can. But I’ll probably read book 3 if you guys do because I adore these buddy reads.
Question. Would you call Imp PNR or fantasy?
More fantasy, a little of both but will put it under fantasy for now. Maybe more romance, already some, as the series goes on?
I know Laurent can’t redeem himself but I liked the contradictions. I can forgive him some since he is the product of lies and manipulation…and something ‘else’ I suspect. Really excited for the last book though since it can wrap up in so many unexpected ways!
Oh I am scared of Laurent’s actions in book 3 after that bomb dropped at the end of book 2! Can’t wait!!
Finished The Ground Rules and loved it!!! Oh Weston! He is so great! I won’t be readinf book 2 till its closer to the release of book 3, since number 1 didn’t really end on a CH.
I don’t hate Laurent, though he does do terrible things. Does things to D just out of hatred. But much of what he is and does is out of survival. I enjoy seeing how his intrigues play out.
In a way it reminds me a bit of how I feel about Jaime Lannister in the books. He does something so unforgivable in the first book and yet he became one of my favorite characters to follow. Especially when he and Brienne are on their road trip.
Thank you Lisa! I’ll check it out π
Michelle what are you reading next?
Bev who’s Jaime Lannister?
I’m curious to learn how much L knew about D and when. Anne that ending slayed me because I couldn’t keep reading and find out what happens. I remember thinking about it for days after.
Thanks for asking Anne. lol
Anne, the books are amazing. If you like fantasy.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004JN1D2I/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?ie=UTF8&btkr=1
See? That’s one of the problems for me. I don’t think L knows about D and that whole signet ring scene didn’t make sense to me. L couldn’t have known that far back that D would be there and L would be waiting at ***. So who was it intended for? Not the original commander or whoever had control of the keep at that early time.
I’d already figured out a lot of the reveals in book 2 just reading book 1. And even a few reveals that haven’t happened yet. All the crazy intrigue and treachery and mind f***s just annoyed me. And…I do hate Laurent for the things he did in book 1. The only way it could have been even slightly redeemed for me were if the tables were turned and L ended up in D’s court in the same situation D was in at L’s court. But…that’s not where the story went and I guess I’m not a very forgiving person.
Lol Bev, GoT was a dnf for me mid-book 2.
*ducking peanut disguised stones*
Yey Anne you read them too! I cannot wait for the next book either! Reading Debra Dunbar’s Imp series now which is good and improving as the plot opens up.
Bev, totally agree with the Jaime comparison. I like the, maybe not inherently evil characters, but those that are mean because that’s all they know, to rebuild themselves and struggle to grow. Laurent will never be my favorite but he intrigues me. I guess I was looking at things differently Fabi, since I didn’t want him to redeem himself completely. That tension in their relationship is what kept it interesting. How much Laurent possibly knows is intriguing and how much planning he did based on assumptions or what he might suspect. What Bev said, how the intrigue plays out is fascinating!
Yes, Michelle. Not inherently evil. Maybe really dark shade of grey. I couldn’t watch L in D’s court like that, especially knowing his background. Be like seeing N go from one to the other.
But……note to self. Do not get on Fabi’s bad side.;-)
hahaha Bev, you goof. I’m not scary. Don’t believe what people tell you about me. *evil laugh*
Really, I love these buddy reads. I love discussing the stories and getting different opinions.
It was cool reading The Deal with others and super cool reading The Captive Prince books together.
I’m enjoying Imp. Super well written. But I’m also anxious to see what the next BR might be.
Well… I tore apart some more stuff, still can’t find those stupid gift cards. I’m giving up for a while. I think while I’m in this mood, I might as well go for it… and I’m going for the gusto. Life of Anna book 3, here I come. I’m armed with Manny and I’ve made up the blankie fort, someone check on me in a little bit, please?
Oh yeah GoT is not for me. I haven’t even watched the series. Too violent for me.
Fabi we need to BR Kings Rising for sure!! I love BR too π
Grey so sorry you haven’t found the gift cards π I am sure you will find them soon. And you are so brave for reading TLoA! I’ll be waiting here with a glass a wine π
Cause I love talking and reading about the ones I like…..If remember right this is the review that made me read them. Fun comments too.
https://smexybooks.com/2013/03/review-captive-prince-volume-one-and-volume-two-by-s-u-pacat-akamandis-new-favorite-series.html
Then this post and comments are fun if you have read them. But spoilers if you have not. So be warned—–unless you like them.
https://www.heroesandheartbreakers.com/blogs/2013/06/third-times-the-charm-what-might-happen-in-s-u-pacats-captive-prince-volume-three
So good bev! And I agree about L knowing about D. Thats why in some ways I understand his behavior towards D in book 1. Oh we can speculate so much about these books!
*blinks* Jaime did do something horrible, but not for cruelty or only knowing cruelty, but for love. *rolls eyes* However, his innate kindness and how he grows as a person makes me root for him too.
You all are tempting me with Captive Prince. I’m not a fan at all of M/M, yet it still is making me curious!
Marsye, anybody read Never Tear Us Apart? Monica Murphy might have missed posts. This and the next one out are reduced now. Wanted some feed back
Thanks
Tessa, “for love” ~lmao & eww!
Ok Bev, Anne & Michelle. I’ll go with L knowing who D is from the get go. The Regent obviously knew and put him there on purpose thinking things would turn out much differently. I still don’t get why/how L would assume D would receive that ****. That seems completely farfetched to me. I mean, when he sent it, did he even know he was going to the *******? He definitely didn’t know D was going.
I am reading Jellicoe Road again… (still struggling a bit but more into it now that I understand the three groups)… and of course liking the hint of cadet vs. boarding school romance.
But. You guys are going on too much about The Score that I’m reading that now and it is PERFECT for me (well… so far). LOVING.
Marsye, Karina Halle is offering signed book sale- never before. See her FB page. Ordered miy limit.
Oh I want one Theresa!!! YAY thank you!
Poor Jellicoe. Always the bridesmaid never the bride.
π
LOL bev!!! But at least I keep going back to it. I know eventually I’ll get hooked… it’s just taking its sweet time. *snort*
And I finished LoA book 3… Going full steam ahead with book 4, thank god I bought all these before! I was uber sad over this book but not as creeped out and scared out of my mind like I was in book 2… I think I probably need to be committed!
LoA is tooooooo dark for me and I haven’t even tried to start reading it. I just know myself… eeeeeeeeeep!!!!!
Maryse, did you read The Score? Best one so far in that series!
I’m still reading Dartmoor #4. Long book… Then on to Captive Prince.
MichelleS I’m reading The Score right now and LOVING it. ABSOLUTELY IN!
Maryse, I asked on the other post but saw you posted about JR here as well, so I’ll ask here also…
What part are you at with JR? I’m curious if you are still at the part where it was slow for the rest of us, too.
Amy…
I’m at 24%. I know that seems early… which is why I know I’ll continue reading. I’ve finally JUST gotten the “beat” of the war… where she is now having to re-deal with Jonah Griggs again for the first time. And a few pages ago he beat up her first in command. LOL!!
Okay now you tell me… is that the “slow area”?
I’m going to take a break after book 4 of LoA… Dang… I may have to break in the middle… Jellicoe Road huh… Maryse want a buddy?
Grey I will certainly need a buddy with it, but I’m not a good “buddy-reader” for that one, I can assure you. LOL! I read it for a bit. Start and finish something else. Read it again for a bit… start something else. BUT I KNOW. I KNOW eventually it will hit me in the good spot. π
Maryse, you have to stick with Jellicoe Road! I struggled too, but it was so worth it in the end!
Grey, kudos to you for going back to LoA! If and when you make it through book 5, I’ll be curious to see how you like the whole series and the ending!
Maryse, I’m with you about LoA. I can handle dark, but that went into NOPE area for me too1 Oh, and just tell us when you hit the bathroom scene. π
Grey. At least you are getting through your TBR as a result? Not a happy thing to lose it, but still one good outlook.
Bev, the whole love thing was an eew. Still, I feel for the guy.
Alright, I’m taking a chance on a random one-click that only has a three-star rating on Amazon with just over 400 reviews…Hausfrau. I nabbed it when it was on sale not long ago (because a book that is normally 11.99 on sale for 1.99 can’t be passed up ;)), and the blurb gave me a nice little jolt so I’m diving in.
Oh, and I’m just putting this out there…I almost *didn’t* click it simply because one of the quotes promoting it was from the Oprah magazine. Yeah, I’m petty like that. I’m actually so petty that I would more often than not actually avoid something because Oprah recommends it. Boom. I said it. *shrugs*
I found it funny when I read in a book… was it a Karina Halle book?? That..
“Oprah recommends it as a favorite”, and the other character said something along the lines of… “Big deal… everything is Oprah’s favorite, …not so trustworthy anymore.”
LOL!!!
And I remember seeing and blurb-jolting on Hausfrau, so you have my attention BIG time for guinea pigging this one, Amy. π
lol That’s hillarious! I never was interested in the same books as Oprah. I can’t see her recommending Tristan and Dannika, can you? Hers are usually books that just depress the crap out of me.
I had to go back and peek at JR, but yeah that was the slow part for me. At about the 40% mark is when it had me, when something significant happened in the past story.
It’s ok Maryse…I’m not there ready to be in Jellicoe road yet anyway, I’m still in the scary dark LoA. hunkered down with Manny in the blankie fort with 2 bottles of wine… don’t judge it’s been a bad week LOL!
*snuggles Grey* No judgement here… I think you’re brave. π
“Someone once told me that it was one of Oprahβs favorite restaurants, but seriously, Oprah has a lot of favorite thingsβit all sounds like lies at this point.” ~ F*ck Love by Tarryn Fisher
Was that it? ‘Cause I literally LOL’d when I saw that while reading FL. *snort*
YES AMY!!!
That was the quote. LOL!!!!! *phew* and I laughed my butt off too… how clever and true. *snort* π
“I KNOW eventually it will hit me in the good spot.”
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! Hit ya in the good spot?!? OMG I’m dying here!!! Y’all haven’t given me good fodder in a while, LOL!!!!
*cackles and swipes one of Grey’s wine bottles*
tee hee!!! I realized it only AFTER I wrote it, but I was all…
Nahhhh… I’m leaving it. π π
Tessa, right?? Can you see her recommending Forbidden? *snicker*
40 %?!? Whoa. You really stuck with it. 40?? I’m impressed.
Jean please tell me it didn’t take you that long?
Cheryl The Baller sounds like my type of book! Thank you for bringing it to my attention π
Tessa, like the reason for being called the Kingslayer? I feel bad that he is forever branded by that.
For those of you who loved Cocky Bastard (who didn’t?!) saw it is going to be a series starting in March. Different stories/characters. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/28477789-untitled
Waiting to hear what you say about that book Amy, because it ain’t on sale anymore. $11.99!!!
I’m sitting here impatiently waiting for The Baller to be released!! *swipes wine bottle from Amy*
Bev, I don’t remember when it started to flow with me, but when it did, it did!
Thanks for that info on Cocky Bastard Cheryl! YES, I LOVED THAT BOOK!
I havent read Forbidden. Kinda scared lol. I have 2 older brothers so the subject matter is quite disturbing but I am intrigued.
I think I should stick with more books longer. Not that I always stop if not really working but may be missing out by not giving more of a chance.
You guys!!! *cries* Im reading LoA for petes sake, have some damn respect *mutters about wine stealing wolf pack/bridesmaid book buddies while pulling out my flask*
Yeah… I just went there, flips my ponytail and goes back to this scary as crap book…who made me read this?!?
*Ties a pink sparkly bow in Grey’s ponytail*
for happiness’s sake. π
So right now Maryse & JR are just making eyes at each other. Checking out the chemistry. Aw. Slow burn.
Cheryl I cant find The Baller on Amazon :/
Anne, it hasn’t shown up on Amazon yet… GR says 18th, but I’m hoping early.
Oh Im laughing so hard about Oprah’s favorite things…….what would she say about Tristan & Danika…..that it gave her Vajayjay clit tingles!!! Baahaahaahaa.
Sorry…that was way inappropriate….and probably disrespectful to a National icon of yours but hey…it is funny!
LOL Lisa!!!!!! π
The Baller and that cover.
And Cocky Bastard 2.
Two good reason to break my resolution about NOT downloading new books until Ive made a dent in my tbr file.
*points at pink sparkly bow in Grey’s ponytail*
SHINY!!!!!
*stares at shiny pink bow and trips*
Nah Lisa, you’re not being disrespectful…she’s just an overhyped celebrity with a following who takes her word as gospel.
Bev, it was slow for me initially but not boring. It started picking up when I began figuring out who the people in the present story might have been in the past story, but when it hit about 40% and *that* part from the past happened then I was ALL in, even though I knew it was probably going to hurt. Or maybe *because* I knew it was going to hurt. π
*points at Maryse and laughs hysterically*
Bev..I have become much quicker to dnf a book I’m not connecting with. Once I would finish every book out of sheer determination. But now I think I’ve got sooo many books waiting for me and new books every week that I am dying to read, I just can’t justify wasting time on something that isn’t right on the mark for me. I’ll generally give it until 40% before I throw in the towel though.
The good thing is we all have different taste…so just because I dnf a book doesn’t mean its not going to be someone else’s 5 star book of the year.
*sits behind Grey and starts playing with her bow* Look, shiny here, and here, and oooh!
Amy, I can’t read Forbidden! lol Past everything else, I have 7 older (half) brothers. Just… eeeew!
Have you all seen what is normally recommended? I’m sure there is some feel good meaning, but geesh. Most are just depressing.
Oh have you guys heard of Dirty Ugly Toy by K Webster? Its a dark read and has great reviews on GR. It comes out tomorrow and its 0.99 on Amazon right now.
Anne and Tessa…when I first heard of Forbidden, I swore I could never read something like that. I mean, a brother and sister? Ew ew EWWWW!!!
Then I gave it a shot because obviously it was well loved for a reason, and I couldn’t believe how sympathetic I was toward their situation. It’s one of those books (in my opinion, at least) where the only way to understand it is to experience it. Gah! That book beat the sh!t out of my poor heart but I LOVED it.
LOL! I love you guys, you’re all great… even though you steal my wine or maybe *because* you steal my wine!
This book… dannnng! IMHO, 3 wasn’t so dark… 4 is, “cant see your hand in front of your face with a spotlight on it – dark”.
I’m cracking up over all of you macking on my shiny hair bow… but you can’t have it… it’s mine! back off!!! LOL! It’s Monday, and a school holiday, so here I am…just running the kidlets around to various practices today. Reading, reading… Mayyyybe the amazon gods will smile on me and I’ll find my missing cards, because I want to read The Baller… it sounds like it would be right up my alley…ooh, wait, that sounded… nah, that sounded like something I’d say π
Grey, I hope you find your cards. Good/bad news, Amazon still hasn’t released The Baller yet, so you have time to keep searching. π
And I didn’t comment on your comment because you know who will be along soon enough to poke fun at you!!! π
Anyone else reading Dartmoor #4 Secondhand Smoke? Please please tell me that Tango’s story is next. My heart just breaks for him. I do believe this is now officially my favorite MC Club series ever.
Finished CP v.2. So good. Can’t wait for Feb 2nd. Two weeks from tomorrow. I’m going to see if I can mostly stay away from the internet for those weeks and just read. Maybe tackle one of those long epic reads everyone has loved.
Amy, the two I just finished are re reads but counting them as reads from my tbr.
Fabi, I know. I am not sure how it would fit if L knew D would still be there. But can’t wait to find out. I think I like this one so much because it has a bit of the road trip trope I enjoy. I really like the scenes at the Inn and the chase. Reminded me a bit of the Night runner series. Though that is straight up fantasy.
I finished Here to Stay early yesterday morning after stay up through the night to read it. I cried like no one’s business, and had to get up and move the box of tissues to my bedside table. By the end, however, I was so happy and fulfilled, that when I got to the last page, it was shocking almost, the reminder that all that had happened wasn’t real, but I’d just been sucked into an epic story by an amazing storyteller. Truthfully, I’m a bit stunned that I’ve found my favorite book of 2016 in the third week of January!
OMG CELESTE!!!!! Okay THAT is now the one I’m starting now. WOW… you guys are killing me with emotional reactions.
*staying up through the night
Ugh the inability to correct typos just kills me, Maryse!
