SATURDAY UPDATE!!! Some of the items below are no longer on Black Friday Sale (or now sold out because of limited quantities), but some are still “Black Friday-priced” 😀 YAY!! And if I find a few more that look great today, I’ll add them in.
HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY EVERYONE! I hope your Thanksgiving was awesome, peaceful, and loving, and I hope you all had the BEST sleep ever from the turkey-coma. LOL!!! And we’re gonna have one all weekend, ’cause the leftovers are even better the next few days!! 😀
Okay… so who braved the crazy midnight Black Friday deals (and who’s still in them as we speak?). Does anyone have a crazy story to tell (past or present)? Did you find what you were looking for? Did you find something SO COOL that you didn’t even know you were looking for? I’m dying to hear the stories. List your goodies!!
I only ever braved one night of the early Black Friday shopping and had a blast (even though I was pretty scared). LOL!! Luckily we were only going with an open-mind, just to “see” what it was like, and to see if we could stumble on a few unexpected deals. YIKES!!! It was an incredible frenzy to watch, and there were some loud voices and bustling for sure, but we steered clear, stood back, and even found some great deals without a fight! But that was the one and only time, and now I just live vicariously through you brave souls.
BUT!!! This is the next best thing. In fact, some would even consider THESE BLACK FRIDAY DEALS deals as HUGE and fun as the ones out there (just… much safer). 😉 Mind you, you still have to act fast ’cause the deals are in limited quantities, and limited time frames.
SO MY GOAL will be to keep this page updates ALL DAY with the new Black Friday finds as they come in and out of sale.
So let’s start!
BLACK FRIDAY DEALS!! COOL BOOK-LOVER’S STUFF (and stuff book lover’s love!)
All-New Fire HD 8 Tablet, 8″ HD Display, Wi-Fi, 16 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black <— AWESOME SALE
- Fire Tablet, 7″ Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black <— AWESOME SALE on these today (there are 4 colors to choose from!!)
- Hoover FH50150 Carpet Basics Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Cleaner <— MEGA MEGA SATURDAY DEAL!!!!!! This has GOT to be a Deal of the Day or something. Okay… definitely not book related, but to me, this deal, if you need one, CAN’T BE MISSED, so I had to let you know!!! I have this exact one I got about 6 months back (when it was on sale), and now it’s even cheaper!!! THIS DEAL!!! THIS ONE is discounted way MORE (Black Friday weekend sale?) It works great, it’s light weight, and I love mine. So easy to use. Almost 7000 AWESOME reviews, just to give you an idea.
Heather: I had this one when I had carpet a few years ago. It is the BEST shampooer I have ever owned. Seriously, I paid almost 300 for mine back then. This is an amazing deal!
Maryse: I know it… I thought MY deal was awesome (I paid over $100, and I thought THAT was a steal. I pounced on it). But THIS? WHOA. And I had been researching carpet cleaners and reviews for a week or two before mine went on sale and THAT was the one at the top of my carpet cleaner wish list. It was fate.. LOL!
- All-New Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote | Streaming Media Player <— I LOVE IT!!! I have one on a TV that isn’t “smart” and I can access all of my awesome TV and shows on it. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime etc… it’s on Black Friday Sale!!!!
Sherry: So with this fire stick, if u hook it up to your tv, do u still have to pay for tv programming?? Do u only pay for the stick once?
Maryse: You only pay for the stick once, and you pay for whatever subscriptions you want to have monthly. Like Netflix, or Hulu, or having Amazon Prime (which is a yearly cost). The stick just allows all of these programs to be used with your non-smart TV, so you can watch the cool stuff on it, anyway. It has all the apps loaded on.
Instant Pot IP-DUO60 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Pressure Cooker, 6Qt/1000W <— WHOA. INSTANT POT ALERT!! This isn’t a book thing, but I LOVE COOKING!!!! And one of my friends (who’s an avid reader like us!!) has recently posted on one of my cooking updates that I could have cooked my chicken broth in half an hour, had I used one of these. P.S. Here’s a cookbook with tons of great reviews to go with it ➔ Instant Pot® Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook: Easy Recipes for Fast & Healthy Meals
Samantha: “Get an Instant Pot. You’ll have the same delicious chicken stock in 30 mins.” <— GASP!!! She LOVES hers and is always talking about it, and showing stuff that she’s cooked, so it seems prettttttty awesome.
Creath: I love it and made stock quickly yesterday with turkey bones. Get it.
Christine: We love ours! Google “Kailua pig recipe Insta-pot”. Yummy paleo meal.
Kimberly: Thanks SO MUCH for posting this, as that exact pot is on my Christmas list. At that price, I went ahead and bought it for myself!! lol
MichelleS: Oh… and I LOVE love love my pressure cooker. I make soup, dog food, pot roast, shredded chicken for tacos… and tons more. It’s so fast. Makes best hard boiled eggs ever. And corn on the cob. Three of my friends bought one because I rave about it so much. Pinterest is full of recipes. You should get one!
Ring Wi-Fi Enabled Video Doorbell <— WIFI VIDEO DOORBELL ALERT!!! I WANT THIS (and it was just super-reduced in price!!) Speaking of cool house stuff, how COOL is this???? I didn’t even know these existed, and from a few comments circulating on my Facebook feed, it works GREAT (unless the person is facing away, but how often does that happen)? YAY!!! I WANT THIS!!! YOU CAN SEE WHO IT IS AND YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO BE HOME. YOU CAN EVEN TALK TO WHOEVER IS AT YOUR DOOR!!!!
Traci: I love mine.
Jennifer: Just bought it and one of the cameras for the back door for $***
Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Generation, Works with Amazon Alexa <— I WANT THIS!!!!!! Black Friday Sale, awesome price, and I have Alexa, too!!!! Plus I think you can control it from your phone and everything. Yeah. :D!!!
- Masterbuilt Butterball Electric Turkey Fryer 10L Analog w/Timer, 10 L <— HOLY MOLY this one is more than half off today! And yes, we missed it for our Thanksgiving feast, but there are plenty that will be turkey-ing it up for Christmas, so this might just be right on time!
- Samsonite Two-Piece Spinner Suitcase Sets <— This is awesome for us travellers (especially those of us that frequent Book signings all over the place)… these are on Deal of the Day sale and I have one Samsonite roller suitcase (the carry-on size that my dad bought it for me and if I can remember correctly, mine was almost $200 at that time) that I’ve had for years and I LOVE IT!!! Mine looks like the first one…
Sennheiser HD 598 Cs Closed Back Headphone <— FOR THE AUDIOBOOK LOVERS!!! And music too, while we’re at it. 😉 Or just watching Netflix in bed (marathon watching *snort*) without disturbing our loved ones. Not wireless, no but this is an awesome brand, and they look super-comfortable.
- Bluedio Turbine T2s WIRELESS BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES with Mic, 57mm Drivers/Rotary Folding (Black) <— MORE HEADPHONES and these are WIRELESS. Over 60% off today (and an AMAZING price), and maybe not the quality of “Sennheiser” but the reviews are good, and they come in cool colors. Would do a great job while listening to audiobooks or music while moving around the house.
- HARRY POTTER COMPLETE MOVIE COLLECTION <— And of course I have no doubt that the biggest Harry Potter fans here already have this, but in case you didn’t (or know somebody who loves the series but doesn’t own this)!
Amazon Echo – Black <— MY BELOVED ECHO IS ON BLACK FRIDAY SALE!!! This is the brand new (not refurbished) one. I have and use mine DAILY! I especially love to use her to read one of my Kindle ebooks to me when I have other stuff to do (and yes… EBOOKS not audiobook, although she’ll play those too). And when you have her stop reading, and pick your book back up, you can just start reading right where she left off. IT IS SO SMART!!! Also, I have her play my music lists, or even Amazon’s top music lists, and she’s just plain awesome. I call her a “she” ’cause her name is “Alexa” in the system.
Susan: it will read to me? omg I want one, now. My sister usually reads to me and I think needs a day off or two. lol
Renee: Oh my I just asked Alexis to read a book from my kindle and she did. So awesome. Now I can exercise or clean and still be able to read a book. Love it.
- All-New Echo Dot (2nd Generation) – Black <— ECHO’S ADORABLE LITTLE SISTER! She’s also on Black Friday sale.
Carol: Agree!! I have the Echo Dot. It does all the same stuff her grown up sister does but is cheaper. She has a speaker but it probably isn’t as good as Echo. So I link with a Bluetooth speaker. Love it …Does it all for $**. Absolutely love it.
BARGAIN FINDS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: some are bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):

This was the one that was on Wattpad, but she has since released it on Amazon and for ONE DAY ONLY it’s on super-bargain sale. “After finding herself stuck in a relationship with the dangerous and morally corrupt Asa Jackson, Sloan will do whatever it takes to get by until she’s able to find a way out. I don’t submit and I don’t surrender. Until I meet him. This beautiful artist’s tattoo now covers the scar of the worst mistake of my life…”
The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer <— STEPHANIE MEYER BLACK FRIDAY SALE TODAY ON THIS ONE!! Who was waiting on a sale price to read this recent release by Stephenie Meyer? Today’s the day, ’cause this is one of Amazon’s “Deal of the Day” sales!!
- The Protector: A sexy, angsty, all-the-feels romance with a hot alpha hero by Jodi Ellen Malpas <— HE’S HER HIRED BODYGUARD and “He thinks he knows her type: beautiful and spoiled, with her father’s bank balance to fund her lifestyle. But he soon discovers the real Camille–warm, compassionate, determined to be independent and happy after struggling with past mistakes. Now, his duty to protect her turns into something deeper than a well-paid job, no matter how hard he fights it.” (it’s super-bargain-priced today!!)
- The Will (The Magdalene Series Book 1) by Kristen Ashley <— KRISTEN ASHLEY ROMANCE ANGST ALERT!!! I loved this one, and it’s super-bargain priced today!!! Two strangers thrown together when one woman dies and includes them in her will. P.S. Here’s my review!!
Deborah Bladon <— ALL OF HER BOOKS (excluding only one!!) and DG & Lauren found us this HUGE deal!!
Maryse! Black Friday sale on all Deborah Bladon books including Bundle Series…70% off which makes them all .99 cents! Excluding her new release of course. … for a angst, cliffhanger 3 book series I would recommend Deborah Bladon books. I REFUSE to read any of her books until all in the series is live. Bladon knows how to write a gasping cliffhanger!
Lauren: Happy Thanksgiving!!!! FYI….all of Deborah Bladon’s books & series bundles are $.** today!
Janet: Deborah Bladon’s ‘TRACE’, in three parts, is now all released, and is to be recommended. Maryse, I would love to see you do a reading order for Bladon’s books -as her stories are great at interweaving couples and families, and I’ve definitely got a couple out of sync. You mention Vain and Ruin, but there are a number of others that cross over with characters… Thanks, as ever, for all your great recommendations!
The Cellar by Natasha Preston <— PSYCH THRILLER SUPER-BARGAIN!! THREE GIRLS KIDNAPPED & KEPT IN A CELLAR ALERT! “For months Summer is trapped in a cellar with the man who took her—and three other girls: Rose, Poppy, and Violet. His perfect, pure flowers. His family. But flowers can’t survive long cut off from the sun, and time is running out…”
- A Discovery of Witches: A Novel (All Souls Trilogy, Book 1) by Deborah Harkness <— PARANORMAL AWESOME START TO THIS SERIES! I read this one a few years ago and it was good (and I know readers here LOVE IT). Here’s my review.
Theresa: Beautifully told, incredibly detailed, and rich in history. Matthew Clairmont is one yummy vampire!
I Wrote This For You by Iain Thomas <— THIS ONE SOUNDS HEARTBREAKING AND POIGNANT AND MOVING… and it’s not even a piece of fiction. It’s words, photos, meant for all of us to take in as we need them. “…each chapter of I Wrote This For You focuses on a different facet of life, love, loss, beginnings and endings…” I feel like I want this.
“I need you to understand something. I wrote this for you. I wrote this for you and only you. Everyone else who reads it, doesn’t get it.”
- A Promise of Fire (The Kingmaker Chronicles Book 1) by Amanda Bouchet <— FANTASY ROMANCE THAT SOME SAY HAS A “GOLDEN DYNASTY” FEEL!!! And it’s super-bargain priced right now.
Michelle: Finally read A Promise of Fire and LOVED it! Can’t wait for the next one!
Andrea: A Promise of Fire is the best book I’ve read lately. I enjoyed it so much.
MichelleS: I am currently reading A Promise of Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles Book 1) and loving it. She is a great heroine. Strong. Super snarky. A total bad @$$. It is Golden Dynasty meets Percy Jackson meets Throne of Glass. Seriously. She’s abducted by a warlord (woo hoo) from the traveling circus where she’s been hiding for years because of her crazy powers. The royals want her because of the powers (Kingmaker) and this warlord is no different. But she is not coming along easily. There are dragons and greek gods and there’s magic. And hanky panky! Did I mention the hanky panky? The slow burn is just what I needed. She’s not having it but he keeps trying anyway.
Tarryn Fisher <— TARRYN FISHER EARLY BLACK FRIDAY SALE! One of our favorite authors (I’ve pretty much reviewed ‘em, and loved ‘em all). LOL! Her books are on super-bargain sale RIGHT NOW on Amazon! RUSH (City Lights: New York City) by Emma Scott <— HE’S BLIND & SHE BECOMES HIS ASSISTANT ALERT!!! R. Renee found us this super-bargain priced Black Friday sale and this is one I LOVED!!!! (my review)

Maryse! Black Friday sale on all Deborah Bladon books including Bundle Series…70% off which makes them all .99 cents! Excluding her new release of course.
Hah. Dirty Red is mine. I just woke up but I plan to shop. I’m in southern California with family since last Saturday. So I’m gonna stay quiet a little longer. I finished Maze Runner and I honestly don’t care if I never finish the series. Oh well.
Tessa… give us shopping updates please!!! 😀
DG!! That is an AWESOME deal! Okay I just added it. 😀
I am so excited about Too Late…I snagged that one immediately…it is definitely going to be my next read…currently reading Midnight Soul by KA and loving it (of course)!!!
I picked up Too Late before it was “too late” to take advantage of .99 price!
I shopped online at Macy’s for the doorbusters. Couldn’t brave the mall. Free shipping! 800 thread count sheets for 29.99! Woop! Not book related, but so many good deals. Server is all locked up this morning. Can’t even get to their site.
Oh… and I LOVE love love my pressure cooker. I make soup, dog food, pot roast, shredded chicken for tacos… and tons more. It’s so fast. Makes best hard boiled eggs ever. And corn on the cob. Three of my friends bought one because I rave about it so much. Pinterest is full of recipes. You should get one!
MichelleS, are they safe?
Seems like there used to be warnings about pressure cookers.
BUT!!!!
Sometimes it’s fun to play in other super-bargains (and anyway, it’s ALL book related, ’cause us book lovers like to eat awesome food, we love to watch books on TV as movies (er… well sometimes) 😉 and we love our 800-thread count sheets when we’re reading in bed.
Just sayin’ 😉
Bev – totally safe. They are electric with auto release valves, and locking pins. The old kind on stove were scary. I love mine. Baby back ribs falling off bone in 20 minutes.
Baby back ribs are my FAVORITE!!!!!!!!!
I growl when there are ribs around… like a dog. *snort* 😛
I love Black Friday!! Well, at least the online versions. I am not patient enough for the actual stores…I KNOW I would say the wrong thing to the wrong person, a fight would ensue, and I would end up getting arrested so all of the money I saved would go towards my bail. Yeah, it’s just not worth it. 😛
I want that pressure cooker!! And I think I will finally get myself an ECHO, and a couple of Kindles for my parents who are getting ready to retire. But I won’t be loading my mom’s up with my kind of books ’cause that would probably send her to an early grave. And that would not be nice.
I’m totally imagining Maryse snarling at others while eating ribs and then daint
Wow, accidentally hit submit too soon…
I meant to say and then daintily dabbing her mouth with a cloth napkin.
*sigh* It doesn’t sound the same all split up like that. 😕
Hey guys! I mentioned it on the other thread but this site, bookoutlet.com has some killer paperback and hardcover deals today. So far I’ve found Everything, Everything (5.24 for hardcover), Bad Romeo (2.79 for paperback) and a friend of mine also found these:
After by Anna Todd
On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves
Sempre by JM Darhower
The Edge of Never
Twisted by Emma Chase (the Tangled series book 2)
AND…RUSH is only .99 right now on Amazon!!!
Ok, went for the pressure cooker.
Oh R!!!!
I’m adding your comment to the post. How awesome! 😀
LOL Amy!!!!!
There is NOTHING dainty about me ‘n ribs. Filthy barbecue-sauce-face and all.
I become savage 😉
I loved On the Island and The Edge of Never!! Also, you guys who haven’t read Tarryn Fisher need to snatch up some (or all!) of her books while they are on sale. 😀
Some great deals I came across:
Etched in Shadow Hill Cemetery by Jocelyn Dorgan is FREE (I love books set in earlier decades)
Mischling by Affinity Konar is 2.99 (I’ve been wanting this one!)
If I Break: the complete series box set by Portia Moore is .99
The Boy Who Sneaks in My Bedroom Window by Kirsty Moseley
Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy is 2.99
The Protector by Jodi Ellen Malpas is 1.99
Whitney My Love by Judith McNaught is 2.99
*snicker* Maryse as a savage with barbecue-sauce-face but all dolled up in pink and sparkles. 😆
Oh! By the way…that quinoa chicken enchilada dish for the slow cooker was AMAZING!!! But it was a tad bit dry so I will probably use more enchilada sauce next time and most likely make it from scratch instead of using the canned stuff. But seriously, you MUST try it!!
Dumplin.
Where is Tasha?
Tasha, have you watched any of the Gilmore Girls?
“There is NOTHING dainty about me ‘n ribs. Filthy barbecue-sauce-face and all.” – okay. This made my day. Picturing Maryse all smeared up with BBQ sauce, then reapplying the lipstick! Ha!
Yes. Dumplin
I’ve been shopping for over 24 hours… In store, pounding floors filling my car, waiting in line shopping. I live for it. So. Much. Fun!!!
Right now, I’m sitting in a movie theater with my kids about to watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Had to check in and wish you all well!!
I also found Forever, Interrupted for $2.09 (paperback)!!! And Room for $2.79. I can’t stop.
Abbi Glines has several $2 on there too.
Now look for Tell the Truth Shame the Devil and Jellicoe Road. 😉
Hausfrau $3.14!
Didn’t see any of those yet bev, but I’ll do a search soon!
I ended up with: Bad Romeo, Everything Everything, Forever Interrupted, Bully, On the Island, Sempre, Something Blue, and Something Borrowed.
No luck on yours bev! I almost got After by Anna Todd because she’s going to be at RT but I just don’t know if I can get past the One Direction thing…
Off to dinner but I grabbed a promise of fire.
The shopping update, didn’t get much, though those with me did. Hot Topics had all shirts $10. Best I found anyway.
Grey…holy moly, I’m getting stressed and splotchy just reading your post. You, my friend, are a BRAVE woman!!! Go you!!!!!
So, does that book site always have deals like that or is it only for black Friday? Even though I am strictly an ebook lover, if I ever get around to going to the RT convention or any other book convention I would like to stock up ahead of time on books I would want signed.
Amy it appears to always be cheap, but it’s an extra 30% off now. It has a horrible browse feature though. You can search for a book/author, but to browse you have to narrow it down to fiction and skim a hundred pages, which of course I did lol.
Bev! I watched the 1st one earlier today and I’m getting ready to watch 1 more before bed. Have you watched any? So far, I really like it. I think I even missed Emily Gilmore, lol, she cracks me up.
Amy, and everyone, I mentioned my love for Mischling on Tuesdays thread today. You should totally 1-click. I’ve spent quite enough today but still not done with all my shopping. Tomorrow is small business Saturday here too so I will be venturing out tomorrow.
JC and the Bijoux Jolies is already out in Australia. I bought it yesterday and just finished it now. Really liked it. Doesn’t matter if you haven’t read any of the others in the series. I’ve read one other and liked it OK but this one was GOOD. Great MCs and a great, satisfying storyline.
Tasha, I watched all 4. I waited so long for those 4 words–now processing.
Not sure what to think of Rory ‘ s story.
I bought that pressure cooker a few months ago and love it!!!! Just did some shopping on Zazzle and got myself a Barrons ornament 65% off and some Keltar leggings from KMM’s zazzle store.
I wanted to get The Chemist but wanted to see if anyone has read it??
48,200 words….arrrggggh.
Im out of things to say or write about…Im over it. Why did NaNo ever sound like a good idea. Ive got RSI and braindrain.
I need a Black Friday shopping spree but Im resisting because my favorite clothing label releases their new range on Wed online and Im saving for that. 11am I’ll be clicking my little heart out until the credit card combusts.
Hope youve all had a safe and happy thanks giving holiday.
Just turned on the news. Fidel Castro died.
Lisa, maybe an epilogue?
Now I’m curious what your favorite clothing line is?
Lisa! That’s awesome! The ideas will come when you least expect them to! I have the opposite problem. I’m at 154k trying to lose 50k!
I went book crazy yesterday. I should probably start shopping for “other” people now LOL.
Good afternoon everyone! Yay Lisa, I am so proud of you, you can do it! I have 4 days and like 14k words left to write, so don’t think it’s gonna happen, but we’ll see! Miracles do happen! Right now, I’m knee deep in angst… oh the angst… LOL!
My husband just asked me if I was aware that Amazon had specials running all weekend. LOL like I wouldn’t know that. Then he asked if I’d been keeping an eye on them and I said I didn’t have to because Maryse is! So thanks, Maryse! <3
……and now I bought a carpet cleaner.
Someone stop me.
All I do is rec Tell the Truth Shame the Devil and Simon. Those are much cheaper recs. 😉
Darn, don’t think I changed my amazon to the smile one before buying. Does that work on more than ebooks?
go bev! I feel better about my book splurge then! That was just $30!
My bank account and cheap side are giving you the stink eye right now.
How do you all feel about new years resolutions?
I bought a print copy of God Shaped Hole. I still haven’t read my ebook version, but since I have a print copy of HTKARS I felt like I needed the set. 😉
Maryse, make sure Manny’s social calendar is open before you start!
Or wait, did you already read the e-book version. I can’t remember now!
Whoa, Maryse. Don’t go crazy with the spending.
Lol.
I haven’t read it yet, but I know.
Ohhhhhhh I know. 😉
LOL bev… I want to go crazy so BAD!!!!!
*starts bathing Manny so he’s ready for Maryse* You are SO going to need him for God-Shaped Hole. 😉
On a side note, my autocorrect changed “bathing” to “banging” up there before I caught it. Ahem.
*snort* Amy… LOL, did you see what I was writing today??? *whistles*
LOL Amy. Gotta love that autocorrect.
Gray……um…..your writing *that* about Manny?
Huh.
*bug eyes at Amy & Jan*
OMG Amy I think I peed a little…
*gets out new carpet cleaner*
Go Lisa!!!! 😀 All of you writers are incredible.
Bev, I’m all for New Year’s resolutions but I make mine reasonable so I know I’ll stick with them. My will power and self control are quite…questionable at times. *snort*
Soooo, I had plans to snuggle under blankies and read and chat all weekend but instead I got the urge to paint the guest room, and I couldn’t stop there so I’ve moved on to two other bedrooms. But they are looking so pretty now!
OMG you guys!!!! BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I swear I love y’all. 😉
Grey!! ANGST!!! *happy dance*
Amy, what color?
I love the idea of them, I just have a hard time keeping them.
bev…one room is a color that is right in between olive green and light brown (not sure how else to describe it) with a couple of warm tan/beige walls to offset the color, the next room is a slate blue/gray with offsetting cool, light taupe-y walls, and the third room is a beautiful deep, warm beige (almost peachy but not quite so it flows with the other rooms) and I haven’t decide on an accent wall color yet for that room.
Taping the rooms off is a b!tch but the painting part is fun!!
You know between Amy’s indiscretions and my getting Manny drunk, it’s a wonder MPS hasn’t intervened yet.
Hi!!! *waves to everyone* Back from visiting relatives for Thanksgiving!
Grey I saw that movies with my family too. Not as good as the original HP.
Now to decide what to read…
Amy is renovating guest rooms for us to come visit!! Road trip to Amy’s!! Hee hee
Okay, so I seriously wicked want a pressure cooker now!! If I get one will you guys teach me how to use it?? I’ve never used it and am a little intimidated.
I did some Black Friday shopping. Some online (I love free shipping) and I braved my local mall with my son. Didn’t get anything too exciting but Bath & Body had buy 3 get 3 free.
I’m currently reading Rush and so far it’s really good!!
Hey everyone! Finally back online after a few days of cooking and eating! And I finally got to get moving on reading An Exaltation of Larks this morning–I’m at 21%, and I am CONSUMED! That’s the only word for it.
Oh, and at this point in my life, I like fun new year’s resolutions, so they usually involve books! Go figure, right? The past couple of years I haven’t felt well enough to care, but for 2017, I plan to set another reading challenge on GR, so I guess that, and getting through a set number of older books on my TBR, will be my resolution.
Leslie, I got one last Christmas and while I don’t use it often enough, I love it when I DO use it. I mostly make roast and short ribs in there. As long as you have the seasoning on point, they come out fantastic. MUCH better than with a crock pot. But it’s hard to adjust seasonings because you can’t keep opening it up. So at times when I know I should use it, I resort to my cast iron dutch oven instead :-/
Welcome back Cheryl and Nay!
I love that you guys are enjoying RUSH and Larks!!
R, thanks for the pressure cooker tip. I don’t often adjust seasonings or open my crockpot once I start it, so that shouldn’t be issue with me. My problem is I’m not the greatest of cooks, I’m afraid to try new things and I’m so freaking sick of everything I cook, that I NEED to be more adventurous. Maybe this would force me to try some new stuff??
Rush is really good. I’m loving both Charlotte & Noah.
As far as New Years Resolutions go….I don’t like to make personal ones (or at least say them out loud) because it puts too much pressure on myself and then I get anxious and set myself up for failure. 🙁 Like the whole lose weight, exercise, be healthier, etc.
However, book resolutions….I’m ALL over that. I will def do a few challenges on GR, but I REALLY want to focus on my TBR. I have a ton of oldies I want to tackle in 2017. I will post my list when I make it and maybe someone will join me in some buddy reads?
Feel like reading something with substance. Debating on Exaltation of Larks and Too Late…
I vote for Larks! Too Late started out with a bang for me but ended in a big fat whimper. But, take that with a grain of salt, most people really love it.
Leslie, if you get it, let me know and I’ll write up my 2 recipes that I KNOW are good 😀
I will, Leslie! I definitely want to do some buddy reads this year!
Before the 3rd season of Outlander starts (this summer, I think?), I want to at least have up through book 3, Voyager, finished. I was only about 1/4? 1/8? into book 2, Dragonfly in Amber, when I had to ‘take a break’ (I’m not a huge historical romance reader, lol).
Leslie, post your list. I always like looking at someone’s tbr.
R, please share your recipes.
For resolutions one is to be healthier. That covers alot of ground but I like thinking of it condensed like that, lol.
Also to read more off my tbr, my already owned tbr.
I’ve seen where sometimes people will think of a word or phrase for their resolution. Maybe like a mantra? But try to make choices based on that than a whole list of goals.
R. thanks. Reading a sample of both and then going with the one that hopefully “hits” me. I want something with substance, BUT afraid about what that will bring with it!
I think I know what you’re reading Cheryl! 😉
I’ll find my recipes today bev.
Although one thing in Too Late’s favor is that it is free on Kindle Unlimited, which I have and am trying to use more.
R. you do? Tell me, it will save me some time!! 😉
Read the Larks sample and I won’t have to 😀
Haha. That’s what I’m doing now and the writing just draws you in. Just hope I’m not a crying mess by the end! Have a terrible head cold, so crying will be doubly painful. 🙁
You’re safe! It’s not sad at all. HAHAHAHAHAAAAA. 😉
And I hope you feel better soon!!
You’re just so mean!!!!!! *sneezes* Oops sorry for sneezing on you. *mumbles not really while blowing nose*
*high fives Jean*
Colds stink. They make you feel so icky.
Yep Leslie, I’m gettin’ the rooms ready for y’all so we can have a huge sleepover!! 😀 How fun would that be?
Oh yuck Cheryl…colds are awful. 🙁
*tucks Cheryl in with a warm blankie, chicken noodle soup, and echinacea tea with a healthy shot of whiskey*
*sprays Lysol all around for Maryse’s benefit*
I will say my New Year’s resolution for books will be the same as this year’s, which worked well for me until I started school in April…I’ll read a new purchase from the current year, then a purchase from the previous year, then a purchase from the year before that, and so on until I hit 2013 purchases (the last year in which I have unread books) then I’ll start all over.
By the way, R…without giving anything away, what did you think of God-Shaped Hole??
I loved it. 5 stars! **okay?** 😉
YAY!!!!!!
*twirls around and tosses candy confetti*
Now you have to read How to Kill a Rock Star so you can get the Easter egg. I re-read the scene after Maryse told me what it was and ohhhhhhh, my heart!! (I read HTKARS before GSH so I never put two and two together before) HTKARS has angst and emotion and *GASPS* and gut punches and it’s just wonderful but in its own way unique from GSH.
AND they are both contenders for the Marmy list so…there’s that.
Yes! It’s on my list. I’m making Ms. Scott pick from that list now too since she says books rarely ever make her cry. One True Loves was a bust. But she just TBR’d Hausfrau and God-Shaped Hole. I’m also pushing Forever, Interrupted.
Holy moly, Hausfrau and Forever, Interrupted…both of those had final lines that were just *OOMPH!!*
And I fully lost my sh!t after both of those last lines.
“I’m making Ms. Scott pick from that list now too since she says books rarely ever make her cry. One True Loves was a bust. But she just TBR’d Hausfrau and God-Shaped Hole. I’m also pushing Forever, Interrupted.”
R is my ugly-cry pusher. “Psst, hey. You wanna try some of the hard stuff? I got God-Shaped Hole and some TJR. Real primo. Or maybe somethin’ exotic? Hausfrau? I got it all. Say the word and my buddy Prime will have it to you by Tuesday. Legit.”
Oh sheeeeeesh. Okay… if Emma is looking for Marmy books, it’s time I posted the list. 😉 That will be my project this week. :D!!!!
My ugly cry pushing skills are sucking right now considering we’re reading The Hard Count followed by The Hating Game. 😀
But then…Hausfrau <3
I think she’s going to LOVE Hausfrau. If for no other reason than the writing.
