Michelles: It was something else! Gritty, for sure. Loved it.
Marit: OMG OMG OMG!!!! I’m 22% into KING by T.M Frazier! Guys, you HAVE to read this book 😉 I’m going crazy and I can’t go to sleep now! He’s so HOT and bossy..and she’s so vulnerable. *Squeeeeeee*
DG: So I took FOREVER to get around to reading SOULESS by T.M. Frazier…(decided to reread Lawless first so I could be full on)…and I would give it a good 4.5 stars! LOVE, love, lovey LOVE Bear and Thia…a MC but not really all out MC book. Just really love those tatted bad boys…and Pancake!!! So…ready for the next 2 books in this series….*crosses fingers, hoping Ms Frazier telepathically hears my wishes for next ones to be about our ‘returning ghost’*
A few series conclusions just went live today, plus some standalone love stories that sound like they could totally tug on my heart. And what makes it all even more exciting? Many of these “Friday Finds” are super-bargain priced today.
But! I’m already reading one (that I know will likely rip my heart out). I’m in the mood for profound and deep and heartachey, so I’ve jumped into the latest by Aly Martinez (Retrieval (The Retrieval Duet Book 1), and it’s already doing the trick. In fact, this is one of those that sucks you in, right from the start! And it looks like we’ve started a buddy-read, so join us!! 😀
Maryse: Okay I’m going in!!! Who wants to buddy-read it with me? I’m hearing this is just PURE AWESOMENESS and I already love this author!
Julie o: Maryse Just finished Retrieval and loved it. Waiting anxiously for book 2. Heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. First book gets a 4.5 from me.
Kim: Retrieval completed snapped me out of my book funk. So well written and very unique. I’ve enjoyed several books this year but this is the 1st legitimate, didn’t have to think about the rating, 5 star read.
Brooke: I just purchased this earlier tonight.
Shawn: I started!!!
Rachel: I’m anxiously awaiting your thoughts!
Bethany: I bought it too!
Melanie: Just read it last night! Book 2 can’t get here soon enough
And no worries my friends, book #2 is coming out this month! Barely any waiting time… YAY US!!! 😀
Okay so… now for the…
BARGAIN FINDS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):
- #Bae (The Hashtag Series Book 8) by Cambria Hebert <— LIVE!!! This series needs to be read in order…
Paper Cranes <— LIVE!!! SOUNDS LIKE A BEAUTIFUL TEARJERKER!! “I was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. All of my hopes, dreams, and aspirations fell by the wayside. I was dying. What else did I have to look forward to? Definitely not love. That’s until Lee Daniels came tapping at my window. Determined to push him away, the jerk kept coming back, over and over and over. There was no way I was going to give my heart to a man that would eventually leave me worse then I already was…“
- Tied Up in Knots (Marshals Book 3) by Mary Calmes <— LIVE!! M/M ROMANCE!!!
- Pushing the Envelope by Kim Dare <— LIVE!! M/M ROMANCE!!! “When Scott Evans sends an anonymous invitation to the dominant he’s fantasised about for months, he just hopes that Joe Stuart will be curious enough to turn up at the specified address and do a scene with him…”
- SEALionaire Book 3: A Navy SEAL romance by M. S. Parker & Shiloh Walker <— LIVE!!! TRILOGY CONCLUSION ALERT!
- Letters To My Mother by Rebecca Heath <— AN AFFAIR WITH A PROFESSOR ALERT! Amy recommends it!
Amy: I read Letters to My Mother not long ago, and it was pretty dang good. It takes place in the 50′s (if I remember correctly) and she starts an affair with a professor. It was heartbreaking when everything came to a head and then had a bittersweet conclusion. I would definitely recommend it simply because it is different in terms of subject matter (well, the setting and storyline details…not the teacher-student plot), and especially if you tend to like stories set back in earlier decades. Which I do.
Reality Girl: Episode One by Jessica Hildreth <— LIVE!!! (Scott Hildreth’s wife wrote this one!) SHE HAS TO LIVE WITH THEM FOR A REALITY SHOW ALERT!! “Recently out of college, broke, jobless, and without a boyfriend, Lou Whitson is recognized by a talent scout at a football game, and then offered the opportunity of a lifetime. To be the star of a reality television show. Along with it, $500,000 in prize money. There is a catch, but it isn’t much. Especially considering her life’s lack of love. Live with six different men, one a month, for six months. Then, pick one to marry for an additional $500,000. A Navy SEAL, a biker, a jock, a surfer, a business man, and a billionaire...”
- Pour Your Heart Out by Zoe Lee <— LIVE!!! SHE’S NEW IN TOWN & HE’S NOT IMPRESSED…“…she knows the quaint little town is something new entirely. It’s more than the good food and welcoming people — with the exception of the gruff bartender she meets her first night out…“
- Viewing Room: A Society X Novel by L.P. Dover & Heidi McLaughlin <— IN THE MOOD FOR SUPER-STEAM? Try this!
DG: Holy HOTNESS Batman! I started Viewing Room: A Society X Novel…Dark Room was HAWT….well, the Viewing Room might just be straight on the equator! Gonna be an AWESOME start to my weekend!!!!
#superfan by Jae Hood <— SHE MEETS HIM AT THE BUFFET… “…her plans to enjoy the buffet solo are disrupted when a gorgeous, irritating man invites himself not only to her table, but into her life. She can’t seem to get away from the mysterious man she’s nicknamed “Eight” for his place on the hotness scale. Over time, and despite Eight’s resistance to tell her what he does for a living…” <— OH I BET HE’S FAMOUS!! 😀
- Left: A Novel by Tamar Ossowski <— YIKES!!! SINGLE MOM ABANDONS ONE DAUGHTER ALERT! OMG this sounds intense and poignant, and heartbreaking! And it’s super-bargain priced today! “…she doesn’t shift from her resolve that everything will be fine. She promises . . . and they believe. Until the morning an obituary in the newspaper changes everything. Therese immediately knows what she has to do. She cannot delay what she has planned, and she cannot find the words to explain her heartbreaking decision to her daughters. She considers her responsibilities, her girls, and her promise. Then she does the only thing that any real mother would do. She goes on the run with one daughter . . . and abandons the other...”
- Sexy Beginnings by Alexis Noelle <— LIVE!!! FOUR STORIES about falling in love! “Nobody ever forgets that first time–that first time you fell in love. Get ready to feel it all over again as these four stories will pull you into their worlds, reminding you of why you never wanted to let go in the first place. Feel your heartstrings tug as one broken college girl finds the true meaning of love. Explore the boundaries of love and desire through the eyes of one jaded and misguided escort. Endure the pain of a scorned lover who needs redemption and salvation and hold on tight to that MC bad boy who will steal your heart…“
Hawthorne & Heathcliff by R.K. Ryals <— SWEET LOVE STORY ALERT!!! Kat found us THIS super-bargain and it’s one that was on my TBR list!!!
Christine: I just finished Hawthorne & Heathcliff . . . . amazing book. It’s a big freely book that is wonderfully written. I teared up several times. Has a Sweet Gumtree feel to it with a sprinkling of Eleanor & Park. I highly recommend it.
Marina: Finished Hawthorne and Heathcliff this morning. Very sweet story.
- For The Love Of English by A.M. Hargrove <— JUST WENT LIVE! JERK SINGLE DAD ALERT! She’s his daughter’s teacher, and he’s a big jerk! “…she’s one of my students but also the love of his life. So I have to deal with him on a professional level. It’s not easy. On a scale of easy to hard, dealing with Beckley Bridges is like nails screeching across a blackboard. But when English’s mother tries to gain custody after abandoning her on Beckley’s doorstep as an infant, he’ll do anything possible to keep her under his roof. That’s how he ends up propositioning me…“
- How to Date a Douchebag: The Studying Hours by Sara Ney <— THE DEAL/BEAUTIFUL DISASTER FEEL?!! OMG YES PLEASE! DG is enjoying this recent release!
DG: I randomly started reading How To Date A Douchbag. So far, I am enjoying the back and forth banter…This h is not giving in easy. Kinda has a The Deal / maybe Beautiful Disaster feel to it….needless to say I’m loving it!
Veiled by Karina Halle <— KARINA HALLE SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT! This recent release is super-bargain priced right now!! It’s part of the EIT series BUT CAN BE READ AS A STANDALONE!!
- Wait For Me (Against All Odds Book 1) by Elisabeth Naughton <— HUGELY POPULAR & WILL HAVE US REELING! AND OMG I JUST RE-READ THE BLURB. This. Sounds. AWESOME!!! This one was big back in our early indie days, and today it’s super-bargain priced!!
Katie: Ok, I never comment but I have to recommend a book – Wait for Me by Elisabeth Naughton. I don’t even really have words… I randomly stumbled upon it while searching the Kindle store. I am only about 50% through and dieing, just dieing. I always love the books you recommend, so I think this one will have you reeling.
- The Bronze Horseman (The Bronze Horseman Trilogy Book 1) by Paullina Simons <— 5-STAR AWESOME AND BACK ON THE LIST ’cause it’s still super-bargain priced today and this is a MUST-READ!!!
Tracie: Best series ever. Ever. Ever.
Megan: It was an emotional journey.
Elyse: One of my favorite books of all time
Sawbones (A Laura Elliston Novel) by Melissa Lenhardt <— WESTERN HISTORICAL ALERT! She’s a doctor on the run with her maid, because she’s been accused of murder (and starts a new life under a new identity in Colorado). bev has been eyeing this one for awhile and has finally jumped in!
bev: I’m enjoying this one. The historical details are interesting, but can be hard to read the historical attitudes towards certain segments of the population. I do think her foreshadowing can be too heavy, though in one instance it tipped me off I was still shocked at the magnitude of the incident. I’ll definitely read the next book, well if it keeps up, I’m only 70% in. I’m reading slow but not a reflection on the book. Doing most of my reading on my commute.
- No Doors, No Windows: A Novel by Joe Schreiber <— GAH! WHAT A TITLE! WHO’S IN THE MOOD FOR CREEPY? His mom died in a fire and there are so many unanswered question… “The answers unspool in the pages of a peculiar old manuscript–an unfinished ghost story written in his father’s own hand that beckons Scott out to a strange house in the woods with a lightless corridor that cannot be seen from the outside. Here Scott Mast will uncover all that has been hidden…” It’s super-bargain priced today!
- Cirque: Act 1 by Ashleigh Giannoccaro <— IN THE MOOD FOR MORE CREEPY?! Tessa brought this one to our attention because of one of our favorite authors that saw it! I think he’s a creepy kidnapper (serial killer? Stalker?) I dunno… “…Love can break the hardest mask, I know this to be true
Nightmares have hearts too, I only needed you“
Tessa: Alright, Penelope Douglas brought this to her fans attention on Facebook. The Cirque, Act 1 by Ashleigh Giannoccaro. All you horror type should look at it.
Maryse: oooooooooooh…Tessa the titillator!!!!! …a horror book for us to look into… YES!!!!!!
Tessa: I’m eyeing the one. If it had been any random person showing it, I’d have backed out. However, Penelope Douglas noticed it, and I love her books. I’m curious. I don’t like horror, but it could just be dark? I don’t know!
The Sin Trilogy Bundle: A Necessary Sin, The Next Sin, One Last Sin by Georgia Cates <— BOOK FOG ALERT!! Tessa just finished this series and can’t start anything else because she loved it so much she’s still stuck there. YAY!!!
Tessa: You know your in a book fog when a book you love comes out and nope.
Maryse: which is it, Tessa??!!!
Tessa: The book fog is from the The Sin series by Georgia Cates. I keep hoping to go back to it, but I’m done. I tried to read Unraveled by Jennifer Estep, but failed. I kept thinking of the other book! I want more, even though it’s complete. She’s gonna release other character’s stories, but it’s not the same. I absolutely loved Sin and Bleu! The angst, the happy, all of it.

Oh! I remember Wait For Me!! Well, I don’t remember a *whole* lot about it, but I rated it 4 stars on my spreadsheet so apparently I must have enjoyed it. I DO remember some emotional turmoil and frustration for her as she tried to make things “right” (for lack of a better word) but I don’t remember details. Still, if I rated it 4 stars then I guess I can safely say I rec it. 😉
Soooo, Retrieval…his POV? Dual POV? (I might have asked before but I’m too lazy to backtrack through comments) My kind of book? I clicked it but was going to wait until the next one is out in case of a CH…
I bought Retrieval immediately but think I have to wait for the 2nd book……I think that first one is gonna hurt bad! Lucky Maryse doesn’t have to wait!
I’m in a book funk and don’t know what I feel like reading. Spending hours just looking at blurbs and reviews…..sigh….such problems!
Jean, based on your TBR, if you’re feeling heavy romance I’d look at Taylor Jenkins Reid, but not the 2 on your TBR first – FIRST I’d go with After I Do or Forever, Interrupted. Still angsty but not as painful, Before We Were Strangers. Fun an mildly angsty, Hollywood and Vine. Guilty pleasure, Paper Princess (may induce eye rolling though), and non romance but AMAZING and soon to be a movie, The Nightingale. If you’re looking for PNR or SciFi, I can’t help you LOL.
I second Forever, Interrupted!!! No angst but so full of emotion. If you experience it like I did, you’ll fall in love with him AFTER he has died…and holy moly, was it painfully bittersweet but SO worth it. 😀 After I Do was phenomenal but was kind of tough for me at times. Not in a bad way, it just worked me over because of their situation.
Or you could join me with Torrid Affair. 😉 I’m getting back to it later today.
Wait Jean…you still need to read the last UTEOTW book, don’t you? If so, bingo!!! 😀
Thanks R and Amy. I did read After I Do and Forever Interrupted. Amy, I thought I was all caught up in UTEOTW…did I miss something? My friend just finished Torrid Affair and is begging me to read it and mad that I’m not (I’m the only one allowed to dictate what gets read next…..lol!)
I just don’t know what I’m in the mood for, but want something spectacular and unputtdownable (don’t we all) and I know there has to be a hidden little gem in my 1200 books I already have downloaded.
Well, so much for swearing off the one clicks….just ordered Paper Cranes and Wait for Me. Not like I don’t have 200+ already waiting. I need help!! Even if I read a book every other day, I’ll be dead before I get to all of them at the rate I’m adding them….not to mention my “I wanna read this” list outside of what’s already on my Kindle.
Did you read the last UTEOTW book? I thought you had waited on it after how heartbreaking the second one was…
OH!! I know…you should read 1986!
Lisa…swearing off one-clicks? While hanging out here?? *pfft* Resistance is futile, dear. 😛
Retrieval completed snapped me out of my book funk. So well written and very unique. I’ve enjoyed several books this year but this is the 1st legitimate, didn’t have to think about the rating, 5 star read.
Dual POV Amy… I wish only one. But we’ll see. 😉
No I didn’t wait Amy. Read the whole series. You got me excited there for a second thinking there was another book! I didn’t read the second book to Thicker Than Blood though……yet.
Kim, I want to read Retrieval now so bad! Was there a cliffhanger?
Amy, I’m the one who still has to read that last one. Yeah, the second book HURT! Now I just need to buy it. However, nothing until Magic Binds comes out. *gets all cheap while eyeing all the goodies*
Alright, finished Dragonmark by Sherrilyn Kenyon and honestly, I was disappointed. It had so much from prior books, but that’s so you don’t get lost. That’s fine. However. the beginning was so good and caught me, but the end was a bow tie. I was extremely disappointed with waiting all that time reading stuff I’ve read before only to get a bow tie. Gah!
M’kay Maryse…I’m going to hold off for now until I see if it rocks your world. 😉
Jean…the spinoff book is Mordacious, and I’m almost positive it will be a series. It’s about…um…trying to avoid spoilers here…oh just read the blurb and you’ll see! 😀
Tessa..it’s lendable!!! All the Stars In the Sky…after the scene on top of the ambulance…oh, my heart!! How long ago did I read it? And it STILL hurts??
Let me know if you want me to send it to you. 😉
OK, made my decision. Starting Torrid Affair……..
Since you guys are one-clicking away…I haven’t had the chance to read it yet, so I can’t personally vouch for it, but one of my GR friends is donating all proceeds made from her book, Unveiling The Sky (between now and October 10) to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. It’s only 2.99 so even if you never get to it, you can still feel good about the one click! And it has a super pretty cover – no bulging, no tired naked chests 😉

WOO-HOO JEAN!!!! Shall I start prepping the martinis?
R…I’ll definitely click it. I have at least a few books that I clicked when the proceeds were going to a good cause which I haven’t even read yet, and I’ve never regretted getting them.
Yep, prepare the martinis! It’s Friday! But like bev, I don’t like pumpkin! How about pomegranate? Yummy!
R, I’m 1-clicking Unveiling the Sky! Love when proceeds go to a good cause!
Amy, when I am not so full of books that I’ve got on loan, I’ll ask. I’d hate to ask then never read the book. I got Heroes from booklending to read, and Ubravelled from the library. Both have a time limit so I need to read those ASAP. All after Crown Me, which I’m reading now. I jumped that saw that it was KU and it finished the series.
I’ll take a sweet martini please. 🙂 ANY version will do. I’ve got a sweet tooth right now.
I’m in for a Retrieval buddy read!
Jean, you could of read The Land of the Beautiful Dead with me….*pfft*
Hey, we need to set a br date for TBH
Oh, Amy, and another thing. THANK YOU!
I just wanted to share that I just read Crow by A. Zaravelli. Really good stuff and worth checking out. Irish accents, dirty talk, mafia, Alpha male – all in one serving. Yummy!!!
Hey all! I wanted to pop in quick and recommend Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight. I 5 star loved it, it sucked me in from the start and I didn’t want to stop until I knew all the answers as to what happened to this poor girl. I think a lot of you would really enjoy it! https://www.amazon.com/Reconstructing-Amelia-Novel-Kimberly-McCreight/dp/0062225448/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474071665&sr=8-1&keywords=Reconstructing+Amelia I one clicked Veiled and The Score. Not really sure what I’m in the mood for next though. I think I may give Behind Closed Doors a try. Or maybe pick back up on Red Hill or maybe even The Hating Game….decisions, decisions
Wow you guys are finding some great ones!!!! 😀
Happy Friday!!!!! I finished Viewing Room: A Society X Novel….MAN oh MAN! Steamy is not the word for this one…straight out on FIRE! Jeez, I need a fan here…a younger H and a slightly older h…usually I don’t care for the H to be younger but this one worked! Great start to the weekend!
Pomegranate one for me please!
Wow, finished Behind Closed Doors… Gah, so good! Pretzel tummy, edge of my seat, mindf@#kery piece of material here.
And now…Entrapment!!
I missed all the food chatter on the last thread… Pumpkin – ew. Pecan- yes please, I make a fudge pecan pie that would rock your world… (Flaky pie crust and all, yum, now I am craving that at 1115 pm EST)
How about apple cider martinis (’cause that’s what I’m having tonight)??? And some of Grey’s fudge pecan pie…um, YUM!!!!
I’m totally clicking Reconstructing Amelia. 😉
Yes please!!
I should abstain, but I hate abstaining!!!! 😛
No abstaining… That doesn’t sound fun and this is the fun zone. Pour her two, Amy!
I’m trying not to click until I read some of my ridonk list… If my kindle could talk it’d probably tell me that if I spent as much time reading books as I do buying them the disparity between read and unread on my list wouldn’t be quite so big and consequently my wallet not so thin…
Now when Maryse talks about pie or abstaining from pie I’m going to think she is talking in code. Thank. You. Amy.
Just say NO to abstinence!!! No abstaining allowed around here. Especially no abstaining from…
…
…
…pie. 😛
*curtsies for Bev* You’re welcome.
OMG Grey…that was priceless. LOL!!
Quickly checking in.
Hi ladies.
Clicked retrieval and the 2nd one but waiting to read them back to back….you know I cant do delayed gratification in books!
Im watching my favourite football team (Aussie rules) getting annilated in the finals and eating my body weight in Fudgy Smuggler choc and raspberry jam icecream. Anxiety eating!!
Alcohol next if they dont start kicking goals!!
FREAKING OUT HERE!!! I’m at 30% of Beautiful Funeral and biting my nails off!! Who’s gonna die?? Omg…the anxiety is killing me.
Shoot Leslie! How did I forget I have Beautiful Funeral waiting to be read! You are scaring me!
Torrid Affair…..I’m at 30% and it’s great so far!
For The Love Of English….LOVING this man of so few words!!! Especially when the h tries to make up of for the ackward moments with her runaway mouth!
Ooooh. I got that one DG. Thanks for the feedback.
Yes. Beautiful Funeral….what happened with that book. It seemed like everyone was waiting for Maryse’s response….then nothing. Surely its not Tavis who dies!!!!
I’ll probably get a carved pumpkin thrown at my head….but Im just gonna say it….pumpkin pie sounds disgusting to me….sweet pumpkin…with cinnamon…….bleeeck!
I can’t imagine that Travis would die…that would be so ridiculous that readers everywhere would be damning JM to the fiery pits of hell. However, it’s “someone’s” funeral….ugh!! I hate stressful, emotional reads.
I might need some of Amy’s mixed drinks!!
Or its a fake funeral. If I remember what was revealed to be Travis & his brother’s job & who they target.
I don’t know I’m incredibly behind on that series.
Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles is on sale for 1.99!! It’s an oldie but goodie.
There’s nothing like sitting waiting for a pedicure, reading, trying to hide my phone from two people on either side of my while I read a really sexy detailed scene. Can they see the words…..lol….
Jean and Amy, I’m anxious to hear what you think about Torrid Affair. It did start off great and then for me veered into a soap opera-ish feel. I’m not sure I even liked the MC’s. I always feel conflicted when I go on a rant about a book, because I think my opinion may differ and someone else may love the book and miss out on reading it because of my rant!!
I’m at 45% Cheryl and really liking it so far, but can’t imagine how things end up like they do at the beginning of the book.
OMG I’m dying laughing at you, Jean…’cause I have done the same thing so many times before!! Well, not while getting a pedicure but in other similar situations. “Oh no, did they just see the words clitoris and cock?!?”
I’ll be honest…Torrid Affair is not really working for me. 😕 I don’t really care for Nate, and Brielle is annoying me. Not a good combination. I’m not sure if I’m going to continue with it…
RETRIEVAL!!!!! 😀
SO GOOD. And I think book #2 will be even better.
P.S. Her alphas have a total KA feel. I love it…
I forgot I had Hawthorne and Heathcliff on my tbr! And I’ll bet Retreival is going to be one of those epic reads that everyone loves but sadly I’ll never read. 🙁 I read a little expert with the hero sounding uber bossy and yummy too and he sounded like the perfect hero that I like to read. But the sad part in the synopsis is just a no can do for me. -Jean, and whoever else has read Thicker than Blood, someone please read number 2!! I just have one teeny question that I need someone’s opinion on and it’s one of those questions that’ll always make me wonder and it nags in the back of my mind every time I think of it. It’s silly probably but still! Lol -Amy, you should definitely give Reconstructing Amelia a try. I thought it was really well written and it kept me completely captivated. I especially liked reading Amelia’s account of events and thought she did really well separating the voice of hers and her mothers. I also thought punishments weren’t severe enough.
Grey, your pie sounds divine! I love pumpkin things, I even had a pumpkin donut this morning. Yum! It’s funny though bc I only recently started liking pumpkin again in the last couple years. I used to gobble up pumpkin pie like crazy as a kid and I think I over indulged too much bc I stopped eating it for years. The thought of it even made me want to gag. Lol
Aww Amy, that sucks. I’m at 55% but have gotten sidetracked by watermelon margaritas….. yum!!!!
Maryse, Retrieval….will I be dying for the 2nd book if I read the 1st one now?
Amy, well I feel a little vindicated now. That’s how I felt about TA.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WoJV4NLxqg
Jean…Maryse isn’t playing fair on her review of Retrieval. She gets to jump right in to the second one!!! *takes Jean’s watermelon margarita and leaves to lick Retrieval wounds*
Tasha…I don’t know if I can read the second book because of who it is about. That character was the catalyst for the awful things that happened *sobs and bites fist* and I’m still so angry at that character. 😕 What’s your question about TTB? If it’s spoilery, friend me on GR and ask me there. 😉
Maryse, are you reading a book from the hero pov?
multiple POV’s bev….
Jean, that sounds yummy. Sadly, the last watermelon margaritas I made were awful. The watermelon sucked, not sweet at all. The hubby and I had date night last night and I had a great martini- The VIP- Svedka Clementine Vodka infused with fresh Hawaiian pineapple. So, so good!! Also, had an Old Fashioned too- Knob Creek Bourbon, Muddled Cherry, Orange, Sugar & Bitters. Between the food and drinks I was feeling G-O-O-D!!!!
Cheryl…yeah, it really isn’t working for me. Between the H/h and the pacing of the book (something about it, for me, is just…off), I’m having a hard time. *sigh* We all have those moments with books though, right?
And I don’t care what anyone says…I loved the Spider-Man movies with Tobey McGuire!! Although the ones with Andrew Garfield were pretty good, too. But oh, Gwen. 🙁
And just for the record, now BEV is bullying me on GR…she is mocking my difficulties with TA!!!
lol Cheryl, it sounds like you made your hubby’s night. He’s probably written down those drinks for future reference.
Amy, I also liked TM in Spiderman. A lot. 🙂
Fabi, right?!? He had the perfect baby-faced look for it. 😉
I’ll bet Cheryl made hubby’s night! She said she was feeling G-O-O-D, and I’d like to think that equates to…not abstaining from pie. *snort*
I misread Amy’s first sentence and also thought she was replying to Fabi ‘ s remark about Cheryl ‘ s husband.
Some how I was reading it as Amy saying he had the perfect baby making face on.
I was like, how would she even know that??
BAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
It’s not about TTB really. It’s in Beneath Blood and Bone, but sort of pertains to TTB. Honestly it’s probably a stupid question. Something I noticed and wanted to see if anyone else did to really. It may not even have an answer, but it bugs me. Lol. I didn’t love BBB, certainly didn’t enjoy it as much as TTB, but I didn’t hate it either. And I hated the mc also from TTB but curiosity won out, I wanted to see if he could be likable. It’s been a long time since I read it, but I think my main issues with it was there was a lot more “romance” I think than there was with TTB and it’s all set in Purgatory so not really many zombies but there’s definitely conflict there and survival, but in a bit of a different form than the first. And I didnt hate Eagle so much, you get to read how the apocalypse shaped him into what he was, but I never fell for him either.
You guys. ..Crack me up all the time! Watermelon margarita…..watermelon, tequila, Margarita mix and jelopenas!
haha Bev. My started going there too. I caught myself just in time.
*mind*
Jean, your little monster is going swimming. So cute!
I found my next reads! I had to stop by the library today bc my Mom is in the middle of the library ebook of Truly Madly Guilty and the loan is up and she still hasn’t found out what happened at the barbecue!! Lol. So they didn’t have it, but I found myself 2 books that were right at the top of my tbr! It was fate. The Hating Game and Where They Found Her. I’m totally dedicated to making these paperbacks work!
The Hating Game is SO FUN!!! YAY!!!!
Well, Fabi I also wore a new pair of shoes- 5-inch stilettos. So yeh my hubby’s night was so made!!!
Bev, my laptop is covered with protein bar spray- was eating one in prep of a run while reading the comments and yeh sprayed when reading your comment about my hubby. His baby making days are definitely over- so no baby making face last night!!! :>
Lol. For that minute I was shocked Fabi and Amy went there.
Bev, you’re reading Land of the Beautiful Dead? Loved that one. Not as much as I loved Gann, but still a heck of a lot.
I adored Tobey McGuire as Spider-Man! I named my dog Toby after him.
Still mucking along with Empire of Storms. Still have semi permanent house guests, so getting reading time in is hard.
Amy – if your book’s not floating your boat, have you read Lauren Gilley’s Dartmoor books? My new all time favorite MC club books EVUH….
I haven’t started it yet. It’s on my short list. I was deciding between it and Bitter Spirits and thought I’d go with Bitter Spirits first. My immediate tbr is those two and Labyrinth Lost.
So, we’re calling it ‘pie’ now… *giggle* shifty eyes all around.
Um, I didn’t start Entrapment yet. I know, I can’t believe it either. I spent almost 2 hours trying to figure out a stupid kindle issue, seriously I wanted to cry. But I think I may have it straightened out finally.
I have an ARC to read tonight… *then* Entrapment. I think I need to reread the first 3 of that series anyway…LOL!
Yeah…..I’m not calling it pie.
That could get really gross really fast.
Five …I’m having the BEST reading weekend…stars!!!!!! I LOVED For The Love of English!!!! Abso-freaking-lutely LOVED it! I am a sucker for romances that involve single parents, adorable kiddos or babes …ADD in a oh so hot dad who may not be the best communicator…a first grade teacher, and …yep, the bio-mom. Really, really enjoyed it!
Ok you’ve sold me DG. Thats next for me.
; )
Yes Amy…..read Dartmoor and then when youve done eith that series read Susan Fanetti’s Horde series……soooo soooo good. Almost ALL 5 stars for me.
Yay Lisa! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!
SEND IN THE REINFORCEMENTS!!! Manny, blankie fort, lots of tissues, chocolate, alcohol, perhaps valium?!? I have puffy eyes and can’t even breathe… Beautiful Funeral is not beautiful. Ugh!!!! I hate books that make me cry.
Phew….ok, I’m finished Beautiful Funeral. The last few chapters were really hard for me to get through. It was a good, but emotional end to the series.
Maryse, there is no way you got through this without bawling!!
Ohhh Leslie you are calling my name with that description!
I know this sounds crazy but these fictional stories leave me with a heavy heart. It’s completely ridiculous that made up freaking characters have such an impact of me but I’m very sad now. 🙁
and that’s why I don’t like to read sad books
Lol, Fabi.
Just finished Bitter Spirits which was a nice weekend read. Now onto Land of the Beautiful Dead.
What are you all reading?
Mased Innocence by Alessandra Torres. I think I’ve read it before a few years ago, but I don’t remember it. I want to be able to read Mrs. Dumont and can’t without knowing what happened in this one.
Well, I got caught in something else. https://www.ilona-andrews.com/a-small-blue-key/
I read Rookie Move and On The Corner of Heartache and Love. Rookie Move was a good sports romance and I love this authors writing style. I expected On the Corner to be more angsty. It wasn’t. It was a sweet, lighthearted read, with a touch of angst and no smexy times.
Now what to read??
Cheryl, Land of the Beautiful Dead. C’mon join me.
Tasha…ehhhh, I dunno. I’m sure I’ll pick BBB up at some point, but I’m still a little too raw from all that happened. But thanks for the info on it!
“Lol. For that minute I was shocked Fabi and Amy went there.” <—– You totally had the face on your avatar, didn't you? *snicker*
MichelleS and Lisa…I have at least two of the Dartmoor books, and I keep seeing all the love for them around here!! I haven't read a great MC book in a while. 😉
DG…I'm sold!!! That blurb sounds SO fun. It was an immediate one-click. 😀
Oh no…Leslie needs the MBB heartache kit STAT!!! Ya know, the one with See’s chocolates, liquor of the recipient’s choosing (or OUR choosing if the recipient is too heartbroken to choose) and Manny, all set up and ready in the blankie fort. Oh, and lots and lots of snuggles from US!!
I need sad books as an emotion pressure release. *shrugs* Just sayin’. 😉
I just saw that the GR Maryse Wolf Pack/ Bridesmaid meeting place was found.
It got me thinking that lately we kind of suck at buddy reads.
Have you all noticed?
Cheryl read For the Love of English next. DGs recommendation and I loved it. The H has a bit of a Wall of Winnipeg broody thing happening. Read it in a sitting.
Amy my top Biker series are Dartmoor, Signal Bend and Lock and Key. Love them.
Amy “I need sad books as an emotion pressure release”… oh boy! If you read Dartmoor, wait until you get to Loverboy, Tango’s story. Acheron & Z got nothin’ on Tango. Sigh. And Mercy? Dang. He’s just the ultimate biker bad boy tamed by a woman…. barely. LOVE that series.
Thats exactly how I felt reading Loverboy….like I was back reading Archerons story, Michelle.
I think Lock and Key’s second story was the gut puncher for me….Random and Rare. I will NEVER forget that book! It did a number on me. Like… I would find myself tearing up at traffic lights when my mind wandered back to that book…or, inconveniently, while supermarket shopping!! Lets blame it on silly mid life hormones but ‘it ruined me’ is an understatement.
See….Im getting all snuffly just writing about now!! Dammit.
Well Lisa that just makes me wanna read it badly. Have I read Lock and Key yet? How have I not read that yet?!! *gasp*!!!
Yep! I bought it once, so I’ve just moved it right to the top of my Kindle app. YAY ME!!!!
Oh man, Lisa just used some magic words. 😀 And I only have to read one book to get to Random and Rare.
I just checked, and I have the first two books of the series…yay me!!!
Omg…I totally just realized I copied Maryse’s “yay me” exclamation.
Why does that feel so embarrassing? *snort*
