So while many of us are enjoying the last day of an awesome long weekend (and I read allllll weekend!!), it appears we have a little “Labor Day” bargain-bookfest! So I thought I’d highlight ’em here. 😉
- In Her Wake: A Ten Tiny Breaths Novella (The Ten Tiny Breaths Series) by K.A. Tucker <— JUST RELEASED!!! (it says novella, but Amazon indicates it’s over 300 pages…). Oh and this is a prequel to “Ten Tiny Breaths” but best read AFTER that one. I LOVED Ten Tiny Breaths (<— my review)! And Melannie agrees, saying: “I love every single book in this series. So happy to see there’s another one!” Here’s the series reading order.
- Breathless by Heidi McLaughlin, Emily Snow, Tijan, K.A. Robinson, Crystal Spears, Ilsa Madden-Mills, Kahlen Aymes, Jessica Wood, Sarah Dosher, Skyla Madi, Aleatha Romig (A PEEK BEYOND THE CONSEQUENCES), J.S. Cooper <— here’s another brand spankin’ new release! It’s an anthology (featuring books by so many of our fav authors!)!
- Spin (Songs of Corruption Book 1) by C.D. Reiss <— so many LOVE this one! MAFIA ALERT!! And Sally just said: “LOVED this book , snatch it up ladies!” and Lori agrees: “Love the Capo!!! Can’t wait for the next, think it’s gonna be amazing“
- Unlit Star by Lindy Zart <— From last week’s list, and it appears to be a gem, so I’m bringing it back!!
MichelleS: Someone’s review says she was, “exquisitely gutted” after reading this, and the rest of the reviews seem to agree. I just HAVE TO KNOW what has all these woman in sweet agony!!! Amazon… why are you doing this to me? Another recommendation I am putting out there. Hoping for some feedback.
Maryse’s Book Blog: That one was on one of my lists this week!
Michelle: it was? that ginormous list from the other day? downloaded the sample… yup – it sure was – I just found it buried in your Aug 29th list…. wish someone would read it and tell me how it was…..
Maryse’s Book Blog: I nominate you! I know that one is going to kill me.
Debbie: It was good. You will need Kleenexes.
- Bite & Release by Cory Cyr <— Michelle found us this deal too, saying: “So here’s another one amazon recommends for me…. sounds interesting. There’s a 13 year age difference. She left Alaska and has to come back 13 years later for her father’s funeral. He was the rotten kid she used to babysit (not sure how I feel about that)… but it has good reviews… so maybe? (and the guy on the cover is cute, as if that matters in any way)…” I wasn’t sure if it was paranormal by that title, but I’m thinking it isn’t after reading the blurb —> “Confusion, guilt and lust bombard Ryan as she battles the memories of the little boy she used to know while still being drawn to the heart-stopping man he has become.”
- Sound Advice (Sensations Collection Book 1) by L.B. Dunbar <— on sale in celebration of the release of her book #2… OH YES!!! I remember this blurb… he’s moooooody!! “Calling Jess Carter’s clenched jaw and denim-colored eyes part of his standoffish manner was an understatement. His brooding exterior bordered on being downright rude. From the moment I bumped into him, quite literally, our lives began to intertwine in a way that made me question what I wanted.“
- Taste Test: (Sensations Collection 2) by L.B. Dunbar <— JUST RELEASED!!! And author assures us they can be read as standalones!! YAY!!!
And…

Bite & Release: holy covers batman
*sigh* another 1 click for my never ending tbr
but seriously now, how could I resist?
The cover
The premise
The age difference
The location
…it all simply spelled fabi
LOL!!! Me too Fabi… that sounds like romance turmoil made for us!!!
Unlit star. I went in blind. Cried for two hours while reading. Then took a shower since my eyes were swollen and cried some more. Amazing read. Maryse this is so a book for you ! It will end up in one of your lilts I’m sure.
*lists. Hate auto correct 🙂
You forgot Heir of Fire, book 3 in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas – releases on 2 September. Can’t wait for this one!
Kristen Ashley The Gamble is 1.99 today as well
One More Chance, Maryse. One. More. Chance.
Tomorrow!!!! YAY!!!!! That boy better grovel!!!!
I was just manhandled into an agreement to read Written in Red after OMC (*giggle* you know I luffs ya, ladies ;)), but Unlit Star is *immediately* after that. Oh, that one looks like it’s gonna hurt…and I can’t wait! *bouncing leg*
You guys…. I am wrecked. Utterly wrecked. I decided to read Maybe Someday, since nothing was doing it for me after WiR, and it was supposed to be a surefire hit. Oh Jesus, Mary and Joseph. I am so dang in love with Ridge. I am an IDIOT for waiting to read this. I will never, ever, ever doubt the talent of Colleen Hoover ever again. I don’t think I ever looked up once!
So now what? Once more chance, Amy? what is all that about? Unlit Star? I can’t right now. Not after all that. I need earplugs (waaaaaah).
In Her Wake reminds me that I have Ten Tiny Breaths on my TBR list. Not sure why I have put off reading it.
I agree the cover to Bite & Release is yummy, but not so impressed with the sample, hmmm…
Forgot there is another book in Cocktail series, usually so funny and entertaining, although just finishing Neanderthal Marries Human, so think I’m in the mood for something MORE, i.e. dark and angsty.
Me either, Cheryl (sample didn’t impress me) which is why I said, “what are you doing you idiot, you have tons of GREAT books on your TBR list” – so I chucked it and went for Maybe Someday. SOOOOO glad I did. I should stick to my list, it is so much more satisfying.
GAH!!! AMY!!! How did I miss THAT one of all things!??? Thank you THANK YOU for reminding me! 😀
Amy – you know all that talk about Dani from K. Moning’s fever series? After reading it, I’m thinking, who does that remind me of? I hit my forehead and said, “OMG, Amy is Dani”…. LOL…. you’re all wired and bouncy and spazzy ….. and loveable….. you know how she just vibrates and needs all her sugar? (your bouncing leg comment solidified it for me) 🙂 🙂 🙂
OMG Amy IS Dani!!!!!!!!!
LOL!!!!!! Has she read that series yet?
I don’t know, has she? Maybe we should ask her! *snicker*
😛
*snort*!!!! 😛
Okay, I’ll play nice. 😉 I haven’t read that series, but now I *really* want to read about my doppelganger. You guys are cracking me up!
*giggle* You can add creepy to that list of adjectives…at least that is what they are calling me on the other page, LOL!!!
Michelle, I’m so happy you finally read Maybe Someday! Wasn’t it beautiful? Like, sob-worthy beautiful?? CH is one of the *very* few authors where I will drop whatever I am reading to start a new one by her.
One More Chance is part of the Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines (*another* one I have an author crush on). It is the second book following Grant and Harlow but number 7 in the series. You *could* just read books 6 and 7, but there would be a lot of spoilers in there from previous books, and some things would make a little more sense with the backstory. Either way, you can’t go wrong with her books. 😉 Oh, and they are emotional, so…
Bite & Release is a nice read.
I didn’t think it had a high wauw factor, but it was nice enough.
It’s not paranormal 😉
Unlit Star sounds dangerous – as in “someone dies” kind of dangerous…. all that crying and kleenex talk….. I am staying FAR FAR AWAY from that right now.
Rosemary beach – I read the first few of those. Then it started dragging and rehashing old stuff – then the secondary stories…. now, I can’t remember where I left off – somewhere on the Golf Course with the rich guy and the waitress??? Does that sound right?
Yep! That was the last one I read too, I think, Michelle. I’m gonna have to backtrack. Amy is LOVING these latest ones, I think.
Awww MichelleS you read Maybe Someday. Wasn’t it awesome?! Gah! It’s still one of my very favorites. Even among all of CH’s great books. For me, it had just the right amount of everything. And didn’t you walk away loving every single character? Except possibly one introduced at the very beginning.
Amy=Dani OMG so true. Do y’all think she can just read Iced or needs the whole previous Fever series. I think Iced might somewhat stand alone.
All I can say is that I’m so glad I have my next several reads lined up. I may still 1-click but I’m not deviating from my next reads. It’s such a relief! Lol
Actually, I had planned on reading the Fever series from the beginning so I’ll probably have to wait to meet Dani…though I think I am in love already. 😉
MichelleS, that sounds like Rush and Blair (my favorite couple of the series!). Woods and Della are the next couple, and books 6 and 7 are about Grant and Harlow. They are perfect books when you don’t want heavy or dark or traumatizing (even though you *know* I love those!) but just want romance, emotion and a dash of angst.
Oh yeah, I am lovin’ the Grant and Harlow story! I have a love/hate thing with him, and I’m holding out hope for him.
I think many will agree that the Fever series is a stop drop and roll one. It took me so long to get to it because I only knew KMM from her historical romance series. It wasn’t until many years later when I started reading urban fantasy that I rediscovered her with the Fever series. …and OMG
Amy after WIR you have got to read the Fever series. You’ve got four months to catch up to the new one. The first book ( maybe?) has a nail polish scene.
MichelleS, now you make me want to drop everything and read Maybe Someday! Unlit Star scares the crap out of me!! You guys read it first!
And Amy has a book doppelganger?!?! Oh that is scary in itself!! Haha! Need to add Fever series to my neverending list! Oh and Amy, you are creepy in a good way! Like creepy cool!
I just finished Maybe Someday, too!! I have been telling all my friends that it’s a must-read!! LOVE Ridge, and the original songs to go with the book!?!? Brilliant!! Ahh… Loved it!
Bought Unlit Star, but I think I’m going to read one of the Neighbor from Hell books first since they look lighter and not as gut & soul wrenching.
Oh Jean, I don’t think you’d regret slipping Maybe Someday ahead in your list.
And yes, you and Amy really need to hit that Fever series. There’s no one like Barrons. You gotta meet him to believe it. Top book boyfriend ever. hmmm along with a few others cause I just felt guilty saying that. Let’s just say no one compares to him.
Loved loved Maybe Someday and the Fever Series! I completely agree that Amy could be Dani.
I finished Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon and I have to admit I didn’t love it. I’m wondering if that was anyone else’s experience? The dark Hunter series seems to be so highly recommended I don’t want to miss out but there are other books I’d rather start.
I love seeing all of you are discovering how wonderful Maybe Someday is! 😀
You know, the Fever series was on the list I had for me and Jean but nooooo…y’all had to go and call me creepy so whatever!! I’m just gonna go and hang out in Rosemary Beach and be all creepy there while I ogle Rush and Grant and Woods and Tripp. *sigh* Rough life, huh? 😉
Oh, and for those holding off on Unlit Star, I’m tackling it this weekend after WIR. Come on, there has to be at least *one* of you that will join me!!
Tracy you don’t have to read them all back to back. They could all stand alone. Some are better than others, some are great.
I’m sorry Amy. There is absolutely nothing creepy about you. Go ahead stroke Jean’s hair. Yeah….nothing creepy about that…nope..not at all.
Seriously Barons kicks those beach boys a$$, lol.
Jean so going to use ” creepy cool” now. The Tied Man what a creepy cool book.
Thanks Fabi – that is good to know.
Bev, great description for TTM…… now what does that say about Amy?!? Ha!
Just started Maybe Someday on my lunch hour!!!
Ohhh Jean, I think I know a certain someone who is not going back to work after lunch.
crazy creepy cool <— CCC = TTM exactly (and Amy too but in a really good awesome way)
Was laughing at myself thinking of Maryse trying to keep up with even more acronyms. 🙂
Just finished Nothing Left to Lose and I’m starting Maybe Someday too with the couple of ya that have waited too long like me to pick it up. I have to regress and vent though for a minute. Nothing Left to Lose is making me have the worst mixed feelings that make no sense really – I loved it but I also was disappointed – see makes no sense! I think the beginning and end of the story were so awesome for me with some great moments in between but seriously you could cut out 100 pages in the middle of the book and not miss anything. If the author would have edited instead of literally seeming like she wrote every thought on the page this book could have been spectacular. It was great don’t get me wrong and worth it even for some truly beautiful and gut clenching moments but still leaves me disappointed in that it could have been more. UGGH so confusing so hopefully MS cleans my muddled brain out!
MS will or I’ll eat my next book
Lol lord wouldnt want you to eat a book – how about you get back to devouring WiR – only figuratively – and I’ll do the same with MS because I really need a good read all the way through and this does seem to be a gem according to you all.
Lol Fabi! I wish I didn’t have to work but how else am I going to pay for my book addiction! I’m scared to look at the new and bargain book list for today….. Very scared!
Lalalalala…I can’t hear you guys from my spot in Rosemary Beach! 😛
Dangit! Shouldn’t have started OMC before signing in for work because I don’t want to leave RB yet. And I just saw at the bottom of this page that Maryse put Tuesday’s list up. Double dangit!! Now I’m going to be one-clicking, too.
I’m telling ya…first-world problems… 😉
Oh man, do I even dare look at today’s list?
I can’t resist looking!!!! Ugh! There might be something good on sale that I’ve been wanting or something else that I NEED! Damn, gotta go look now!
Amy haven’t read the Rosemary Beach series…. I assume you love it?!?!? Did you read OES or squirrel like I did?
Yes, Fabi, you *do* dare look! 😉
Jean, I do love it. 😀 My favorites are still the books with Rush and Blair (sp?), but I love them all. Hehe, squirreled from OES? Oh yeah…RB demanded that I do so.
Bev, you had me at “nail polish scene” and then *had* to mention Barons kicking my beach boys a$$es.
Now why did you have to go and say that?!?!?
Now I have to read the Fever series- LOL!!
I stopped after the Rush/Blair series concluded. Maybe have to pick back up with RB! 🙂
Cheryl, if you loved Rush then you’ll love Woods, too. Grant is slowly redeeming himself…you’ll see what I mean if you read Take a Chance and One More Chance. 😉
YES YES YES to everybody who (like me) waited to read Maybe Someday and picked it up for the bargain price – MUST READ – absolutely, hands down one of the best books I’ve read ever. This woman can write. No extraneous room descriptions or clothes and jewelry descriptions. I don’t have a clue what that apartment looked like. It was just pure interaction between people and it was AWESOME (hitting myself over the head for leaving it on my TBR list).
And Fever series – it’s a must read, but they are so dang long, I totally get why you would want the Cliff’s Notes version!!! (Amy / Dani – I said that all with only love…. she is a fantastic character – you could also be Nuckign Futs Nix from Immortals After Dark series…. or at the very least one of the Valkyries!!! heehee).
Rosemary Beach – they were good when I was reading them, and I vaguely remember “stuff” but I don’t remember everything…. the thing with the “sister” and the “dad” and all that…. good in between books for me.
And Now I may get kuh-ray-zee and keep on trekking with my TBR list and go for Forever, Interrupted…. it may be too much angst for one week.
Could use a good Laurenston type shifter book (snarky, sexy fun) !!! Suggestions?
Michelle, I actually thought the comparison of me with Dani was pretty funny! And now I can’t wait to get to those books and read about her. 😉 Believe me, unless you are comparing me to something hideous and evil (as in literally evil, lol) then I am going to find it amusing!
As for RB, the whole extended family issues (dad, sister, etc.) are mentioned often enough that you don’t need to re-read the books before, and they aren’t *major* plot points. I’m loving Grant and Harlow as much as the other couples, but I think the next one (You Were Mine) is going to be kind of sad… *sigh*
