It would appear a TON of recent releases are rocking our worlds, and I’m bringing the extra-recommended ones back on here so that they don’t get lost in my TBR list. LOL! There are 4 on here that had me bouncing in my chair on release day, on the blurbs alone, so I must adjust my reading schedule.
Okay so right now, this one is probably the most recommended book (at least per the recs I’ve received in comments and emails), so I’m reading this one right now: Bright Side (no idea what it’s about yet – I’m going in blind and I’m about a quarter of the way in, but I’ve been warned to stock up on kleenex). I mean, just LOOK at what Meredith just commented: “I downloaded “Bright Side” two days ago and CANT. PUT. IT. DOWN. I have loved ALOT of books, but this one has a special place in my heart. The characters are so LOVABLE and the story SO tragic!! I will read it over and over and over. Its one of those books, that just stick with you long after its over. I rate this one right up there with all my favorites, this author is just incredible!! Even if you don’t review it, READ IT!” <— How can I resist!!?? And then Melanie commented saying: “Based on reader recommendations I decided to give Bright Side a try. I went in knowing there would be tears. The thing no one mentioned was how many tears. I can’t remember crying that much reading a book. So fair warning, bring a box of tissues with this one. I think I cleaned out the whole box of Kleenex.” <— Oh boy. My stomach hurts already….
Then, as long as I don’t *squirrel* (and hey, I can’t make any promises!! LOL!) I want to read: Ten Below Zero (More tissues, I hear… and I’m still scared!!), Never Me (’cause I loved this author’s other standalone book and I hear this one might be even better!), FATE BOOK (’cause MichelleS LOVES it like crazy and calls it KA-lite!!! *squeeeee* YES PLEASE!!! I’ll probably place this one between the sob-books up there), Surviving Love (moody hottie that lives in her house, and she’s single & pregnant), and I Want It That Way (moody hottie single dad that lives in her apartment complex). Yep, can you tell I’m in the mood for brooding men? 😉
But then again… the other reader recommendations look crazy-good, too… You’ll see. Plus… some highly anticipated pre-orders (most coming out Monday/Tuesday). One of ’em that I had heard nothing about until today totally gave me a blurb jolt (Hostage)… YAY!
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything! )
NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order.

- Reed’s Reckoning by Ahren Sanders <— Football player, heartbreak and… second chances? “Arianna ‘Ari’ Williams thought she experienced the depths of true love until the man of her dreams dismissed her with no explanation. Heartbroken and humiliated, she found herself changing the course of her life and picking up the pieces of her shattered heart. Now four years later, she has a successful career, amazing friends, and a young son with crystal blue eyes that reminds her every day of the love she imagined. Emotionally she has moved on but the wounds never healed….” (and then they meet again, 4 years later…
- Thin Love by Eden Butlet <— another angsty sounding football player one… second chances, betrayal and all that…
Within These Walls by J.L. Berg <— Oh here’s another recent release that sounds right up our heart-ache alley! “I was drowning, a prisoner to the illness that owned me, until he appeared. He thinks he’s blocked out the world with his tattoos and hard exterior, but I see the real Jude, the one he so desperately wants to forget. But is he the answer to my prayers or will he break my already damaged heart forever?”
- This Is Falling (The Falling Series Book 1) by Ginger Scott <— Recently released!! Another sports-star (baseball player) “An All-American baseball player, Nate wasn’t supposed to notice a ghost-of-a-girl like me. But he did. He shouldn’t want to know my name. But he did. And when he learned my secret and saw the scars it left behind, he was supposed to run. But he didn’t…”
- Bright Side by Kim holden <—I’m bringing this one back on the list as it’s one of the most highly recommended books this week, and I’m reading it as we speak! Heather says: “Bright Side is good….total ugly cry. Well written, cute, fun, witty writing yet kind of slow build up but hang in there.” <— Thank you Heather for that. I am enjoying it, I’m about a quarter way in, so this helps tons!! 😀 Cheryl: “The blurb for Bright Side is SOOO good and all the reviews I saw were 5 stars. Looks like the angsty, “ooompf” book I was looking for! Click!!” and Kim loves it, too! “Almost finished with Bright Side..I started last night…definitely a MUST read! I’ve never come a character so genuinely beautiful as Kate. She’s by far my favorite female character ever… Head’s up be prepared to be shocked to your core and make sure you have multiple boxes of tissue available…. A phenomenal read!” YAY ME!!! 😀
- Ten Below Zero by Whitney Barbetti <— another one I’m bringing back to the list, ’cause this is the other most highly recommended book this week. Ohhh I think it’s gonna hurt! <— Linh says: “Now you HAVE to read Ten Below Zero Maryse! It was such a good book.” and Michelle agrees: “I will second Ten Below Zero and have already raved about it on here. It’s a tumultuous read… *cough* Maryse. It’s one of my favorites this year for sure.” <—- Eeeeeep!!!! YAY US!!!
- Never Me by Kate Stewart <— This author rocked my world a few days ago with her crazy-angsty standalone love story “Room 212” (<— my review) so I’m VERY excited to try this one. Especially since some of my fellow readers told me it was even better! Heather says: “Omg Maryse I loved this book And her other one, Never Me.. Gahhhh it’s even better!!!! I’m a Kate Stewart stalker now! Lol” and Yamara loves it too! “Now go read her next book NEVER ME! Also a stand alone and don’t let the blurb fool you!!!”
- Room 212 by Kate Stewart <—- I’m bringing this one back on the list since I just finished it and loved it. Good ol’ fashion “new adult” romantic angst!!!!! Prepare to want to pitch your kindle across the room! 😉 (P.S. my review) and Anne loves it, too! “Room 212 has taken the title of my favourite book EVER! Never Me comes very close. Kate Stewart makes you “feel” with her amazing writing!”
FATE BOOK (a New Adult Novel) by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff <— MichelleS highly recommends this one, and it sounds AWESOME!!! The first time she mentioned it, she said: “Well, I finished “Fate Book” – … it was just what we needed…. a funny book. It reminded me so much of the Rock Chicks…. but a bit funnier. It had action and adventure and comedy and mystery and everything. I can’t believe I am saying this, but it was kind of like a Kristen Ashley book if she wrote a New Adult book. That was the feel it had for me. And the best part? No cliffhanger, total stand alone, and a HEA. I am a happy camper. I can’t even begin to summarize the plot because it would be full of spoilers. It’s just a crazy ride…. with very a very likable heroine and a very alpha yummy hero. FUN FUN FUN….” and then… 😉 “I will mention AGAIN the book I just finished. I want someone else to enjoy it, dang it. It’s called Fate Book. It was such a surprise. It starts off with a girl who tells a whopper of a lie because her arch-enemy is such a bee-yotch. She posts on FB that she has a boyfriend and uses a picture of a hot model she finds on the internet. Who is going to find out? He’s in the Hamptons!! THEN….. one day he shows up!! nd he tells her to go along with it, or else. or else what? Why? what the? Then it gets crazy. The girls is so funny and loveable. And he is a complete mystery. And you have NO IDEA why he is pretending to be her hot boyfriend. The writing was great. It’s a stand alone. HEA. Epilogue. It was like KA lite….. loved it. If nothing is doing it for you, you should read this one.” YAY MICHELLE!!
- He Found Me by Whitney Barbetti <— Ohhhh another one from the author up there with her highly recommended book! This one sounds so good, too. She’s in hiding (for 6 years and finally meets someone to love…): “And the moment I started allowing myself to open up, allowing someone to see through the superficial, was the very same moment the Monster from my past would return to find me.” <— Eeeeep!! Michelle says: “Oh and I still am thinking about Ten Below Zero sigh – I liked it so much that I looked for other books by the same author and she has another one on countdown sale He Found Me that I grabbed… that looked excellent too…” I agree, it sounds right up my alley!!
- Surviving Love by Ada Frost <— I’m bringing this one back, ’cause it caught my eye on release day, and I don’t want to forget to read it. Super-moody-grumpy hot guy living with her… I love when the grumps finally open up. 😉 “What do you do when you find out you’re pregnant, your boyfriend rejects you, your sister is beaten half to death and the most annoyingly gorgeous man takes up residence in your house?“
I Want It That Way by Ann Aguirre <— and this one!!!! ANOTHER MOODY GUY!! Single father, to boot. 😉 Another from that same “release-day” list that SO has my attention BIG TIME, and I’ve since received a comment from Tracie (one of my reading buds – we have VERY similar tastes) saying: “Tracie says: “It. Was. Awesome. It was exactly what I wanted and I just fell in love with everyone! Their honesty was so refreshing, and their intimacy was just beautiful, the sweet words.. I want more. I never wanted it to end… I don’t know what it was, but this book just grabbed me, everything Ty said had me melting.” I couldn’t help but one-click it immediately. This is my way of reminding myself that I need to read this ASAP.
- Taking Control: A Novel (Kerr Chronicles Book 2) by Jen Frederick <— JUST RELEASED! The author says: “Taking Control is a continuation of the story begun in Losing Control (not a retelling) but can be read alone.” Kandace was excited for it! “I’ve been waiting for taking Control by Jen Frederick and I just saw it is released early (today). WOOT!”
- Full Circle by Lisa Marie Davis <— M/M ROMANCE ALERT!!! And Bobbi went nuts for it! “Oh mer gawd … Maryse … Maryse … Maryse … Full Circle by Lisa Marie Davis. HOLY HOLY HOLY CRUD. That book started off innocently enough, and even knowing what what was coming based on the blurb … I swear I felt like someone kicked me straight in the gut. It absolutely shattered me, and most of the action took place off the page!! I have never, ever, ever had such visceral reaction to a scene (which again mostly takes place off the page) and I have never felt such incredible hate for a character, either. There are aspects of the book that could have been improved, but JEZ-US something was done right to make me feel like THAT.” <—- WHOA. I am loving this reaction!!! 😀
- Heavy: A Contemporary Romance by J.C. Mells <— Also JUST RECENTLY RELEASED!! Hot shot tattoo artist and bad-girl socialite (with a dark secret) collide! “…she’s everything Thatch is NOT looking for in a potential soul mate. If he were looking for one at all, that is…“
- Alluring Infatuation (Bayou Stix Book 4) by Skye Turner <— Also JUST RECENTLY RELEASED!! Lori says: “I have read the series… and enjoyed them. The first one was a little rough, I believe it was the authors debute, but I liked it. They’ve gotten better as the series has progressed. I’m really looking forward to the new one. They’re definitely not heavy, I’m not a huge fan of major angsty stories…”
- Fate’s Mistake (Los Rancheros) by Brandace Morrow <— Oh yes!! I remember this one striking my fancy on release day ’cause of the abusive husband storyline… “Until Danny. Danny saw me. Danny was my hero. Danny was the one I was supposed to be with. But now I’m broken, shattered into pieces too jagged to fit back together.” and Shell says: “I loved that book.” (so I brought it back on the list!) 😀
- Fan Girl (Los Rancheros Book 1) by Brandace Morrow <— Okay and here is book #1, although I *think* they can be read as standalones (different characters…). PLUS! It’s a ROCK STAR BOOK! She’s had a crush on him since she was young… “Moving to the Big Apple, she gains a new outlook on life, a snarky online friend, a college degree, and a unique internship others would kill to have. Though she grows leaps and bounds, her first love remains the same…” but… “As an adult, Deklan has the potential to devastate her.” <— Has anyone read this one yet? Sounds pretty good!
- Nothing Left to Lose (Guarded Hearts Book 1) by Kirsty Moseley <— Okay and I’m bringing this one back ’cause I don’t want it to get lost in my TBR list. I REALLY want to read it! Michelle is loving it: “I’m reading Nothing Left to Lose right now and can enthusiastically recommended it without even being finished yet. I really adore it already but that first chapter (went in blind) gave me a freak out moment! Ashton seems so realistic to me and I’m really enamored with his vulnerability, of course that’s on top of the bad ass part.”
- Touched (The Marnie Baranuik Files) by A.J. Aalto <— Michelle recommends this one, too! “…it had everything for me suspense, romance, paranormal twist and the main character is hilarious too…read only the first book in the series of three so far but first one was great and want to get the next two for sure.”
Half-Blood (Covenant Book 1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout <— We’re HUGE fans of this author, and Amy highly recommends this series! “Jennifer Armentrout’s Covenant series is one of my absolute favorites! Yes, even more than the Lux series (I still love Daemon and all his hotness though!!). It is about descendants of mythological gods, and it *is* YA, but if you have ever read her work then you know it’s easy to forget you are reading YA… As much as I love the Lux series, I would recommend this one even MORE. It reads *fast* and I would actually re-read the whole damn thing even with my crazy TBR list. And it is complete!
Oh man, this is making me want to re-read it right now! …there aren’t many books I would recommend paying the slightly higher price for but *these* I definitely would!!! They are sooooo worth it!!!”
- TAINT by S.L. Jennings <— Kristin found us this one! “Taint by S.L Jennings is on sale right now.
I had to grab it…” Yep! Great GREAT blurb, and a quick steamy read. It didn’t rock my own world as much as I expected from that blurb (and that cover… ;)), but there are many that loved it! - Wife Number Seven by Melissa Brown <— Stephanie found us this one saying: “Straight From My Wishlist…Cannot Wait To Read! On SALE for a limited time!”
- Stirred Up by S.E. Hall, Angela Graham <— And Stephanie found us this one saying: “Previously 2 volumes, now get the entire story in one shot….On SALE for a limited time! Erotic stand-alone. No cliffy.”
Seduce Me (Ravage MC Book 2) by Ryan Michele <— and Stephanie found us this one saying: “Attention: MC Romance Lovers Alert… On SALE for a limited time!” Oh I LIKE the sound of this one! Unrequited love and pining!! “Casey Alexander grew up part of the Ravage Motorcycle family since the day she was abandoned by her mother and thrown into her father’s lap. Always seeing herself as an outsider, she spent her whole life trying to fit in, but never really succeeding. When she loses her beloved father, the utter aloneness engulfs her, leaving her searching for solace in the one man she’s always craved. Confessing her love for him only results in devastation when he pushes her away…“
- Rules of Protection (A Tangled in Texas Novel) (Entangled Select) by Alison Bliss <— YES PLEASE!! Another one I’m bringing back on the list ’cause it’s blurb had my attention on release day a week or so ago… (she’s in the witness protection program and her special agent “handler” has to hide her deep in the Texas woods… with him
) and now it’s on sale AND Christine recommends it! “Great, hilarious book!”
- The Summer I Fell (The Six Series Book 1) by Sonya Loveday <— Rori recommends this one! “I just finished reading the Summer I Fell by Sonya Loveday and it was such an amazing book. A lot of angst and heartbreak. Keep the tissues handy and it ends on a major cliffhanger, but worth reading.” Oh yeah I remember this blurb!! “Riley Clifton can’t remember a time when she wasn’t a part of the Six, a group of rowdy boys who would do just about anything for her. Growing up alongside of six guys is never easy. Especially in high school. Falling in love with one of the Six? Even harder when Ace has a hold of her heart, and he doesn’t even know it…“
- Heart Of Light by T.K. Leigh <— Michelle found us this one!! “Is this one on your blog list anywhere? Didn’t see it and it sounds DARK – human trafficking is always a tough subject – but if it ends is an HEA then I can deal with it…. and it has almost all 5 star reviews…. hmmm…..” Yep it is. I posted it on it’s release day and it totally gave me a blurb jolt. Thanks for reminding me, Michelle!! “Why was she left in the custody of a man who would sell her each and every night to the highest bidder? After a few years, she shut off, giving up hope that anyone would ever find her. Until her luck changed one night and she escaped.“

Hostage by N.S. Moore – expected release date September 10th 2014 <—- Okay admittedly, so I don’t know this author, or the story (or past work) or anything. I just heard of this one today, and you know me… the blurb, the cover and that title have my attention! 😉 “Before Code. And after him. I didn’t know then what he would be to me. I didn’t know how he would transform the fabric of my existence. I didn’t know he would move me, reshape me, mold me into someone else, someone I wanted to be. Afterwards, he would become my lover, my savior, my hope, and my strength. But, before that, he was my hostage-taker.” <— Eeeeep!
- Deep (Stage Dive Series Book 4) by Kylie Scott <— Sally found out this one’s on pre-order on Amazon! Expected release date January 6th 2014
Covenant was pretty good. A nice twist on Demigods and I agree with Amy; it’s better than the Lux series. Taint could’ve been better, I agree. Good, but not as good as the blurb. Maryse, have you read Fallen Crest High yet?
Just noticed that Bright Side is free on Kindle Unlimited. I love when that happens. I think I will do the second book in The Fallen Crest High right after The Opportunist which I am really enjoying.
I have a list I’m really going to try and stick to, and there is something to be said for accountability. *eyeing certain ladies on here* 😉
WIR, Translucent (Jean is gonna get it for that one…playing the “owe-me” card and all), Unlit Star, Bright Side and Ten Below Zero, and it looks like I’m going to have to break those up with Fate Book and probably Surviving Love. Crap! We still have to read OES, Jean! If I stick with and finish this list then I get a freaking cookie. No! Better yet, I get a sugar cookie martini!!
https://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/sugar-cookie-martini/4aed4199-1fb7-4e30-b77e-8045931cb70e
Maryse, I’m trusting you to let me know what kind of cry I’m in for with Bright Side, ‘kay?
Ooooh, Tracy…have Dirty Red ready. *giggle* You’ll need it. 😉
Lookie what I just came across! This is perfect with SOA starting up on Tuesday: https://cadillacquer.bigcartel.com/category/sons-of-anarchy-collection
I’ve never tried that brand (indie, I think?) and I don’t really wear holos, but this is still pretty cool!!
‘kay!
*snatches the cookie martini out of Amy’s hand*
What!? It’s… the afternoon! It’s ok! Right? Plus I have a feeling I’ll be needing this along with my sob-tissues. Maybe I should get back in my pajamas and use my top as an extra-absorber…
I’m about 70% in Bright Side. I think it’s really good so far.. I’m scared to finish it though …I went in pretty blind…I guess I’ll just bite the bullet @ finish it…ughh..
Omg, this was an emotional week of reading for me! I finished Ten Below Zero & Bright Side back to back & sheesh… I just remember my head hurting from all the tears!!! Grab tissues. Seriously! 🙂
Hey!!! *grabs sprinkles and throws them at Maryse* Don’t forget these!!! *giggle* Am I sensing a blankie cave (and a spare dry PJ top) in your future? 😉
Um…need I say it? It’s five o’clock somewhere!!!!!! 😀 Oh, it’s eight o’clock in Denmark!!
Bunden i vejret eller resten i håret…which means “bottoms up or the rest in your hair!”
Aw crap, Traci and Jeanie! Those are magic words for me…
Give me that back, Maryse. *snatches cookie martini from Maryse’s hand*
Read Bright Side this week. It was soooo good! I loved it! Must read!
Been putting off last year’s SOA. New it would happen but not ready to face it.
There is a Ryan Adams song called Damn Sam I Love a woman that Rains. That line pops into my head when you guys cheer because you have found a book that will break your heart and make you cry, lol.
That should be Knew not new.
I’m 40% into Brightside and it’s good. I’m so nervous though….the tissue comments from everyone are making me anxious!!
Yes Amy – I am now getting the feeling Dirty Red will have to be next.
Ok going to try Amy’s trick and try and stick to a list. Next few will be books I read part of and then squireled away from. Tall, Tatted, and Tempting, Offside, Six of Hearts, All of You. Then Rock Addiction and after that Michelle S rec for The Familiar Stranger.
Alison Bliss’ Rules of Protection is LMAO funny! It’s in the Rock Chick and Wallbanger funny category.
Finished “Bright Side” my eyes are still red from ugly crying..Think I need a drink now & a lighter book…on the bright side (haha) Gus has a story coming in 2015!! Woohoo
yeaa for lists! We are all going to be really good girls so our book Doms can take a vacation.
Still reading Bright Side *snatches drink from Amy*
There are so many tempting books above. After BS I need to try to make a list. I say that knowing how easily I can squirrel. *shares drink with book Dom.
Happy weekend!! 😉
*snatches drink from BookDom*
*snort* 😛
Eeeeeeeeep!!!
HOH!!! What the heck, man?!?!? My martinis!!
Here – take the SPRINKLES while you’re at it! *chucks handfuls of sprinkles at Maryse and Cheryl*
*snort* I’m ascared of the Book Dom…I’m not throwing *anything* at him…
How is Bright Side going, Maryse?
OMG!! I am so happy that you are reading Bright Side !! It is easily one of my favorite books of this year and will go down on my list of FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME. It’s simply amazing. It’s inspiring, uplifting, humorous, and gut-wrenching.
Lol! You guys are great. I want a martini! So you made your list Amy but what are you starting first seriously??? Why is everyone reading all these heartbreaking books? I get it, I do, but I need a break after reading Maybe Someday and Ugly Love back to back!
Fabi I don’t think the Book Dom could ever go on vacation with the way we all constantly squirrel!! Haha!
Yay, The King on sale… 1-click!
Why don’t we just play with the moody grumpy single guys for a while? I have two of ’em and I bet they’ll only make us furious. Not cry.
hahahahahah!!! 😛
Er…. I mean… I don’t “HAVE” two… I just one-clicked…. two. 😉
Amy & Fabi I need to ask because, well, I’m needy that way. How are you two liking WIR?
I have read a few on the list this week. I am 54% into Thin Love and I am enjoying it. Finished Heavy the other day because I absolutely LOVE J.C. Mells Pierced series and I like that one as well (If you haven’t read the Pierced series what are you waiting for?). I also read both of the Los Rancheros books and quite enjoyed them. None of these have huge angst factors but they are all written very well and all provided me with a 3.5 to 4.5 star reading. All of them kept my interest and pulled me in, which is what I look for. I am not at all into “dark” reads so…
Two moody single guys sounds fun, thanks for sharing Maryse!!
Just have to finish crying, I mean reading Bright Side…
Fan girl is amazing!!! Book 2 is on sale too and it is just as good. I can’t even compare them to anything, totally unique rock star books you will love them!
Which ones Maryse?
I feel like I’m in a book slump… but not really.
Bright Side is my favorite book of 2014, and definitely in my top 3 books of all time. Kate was my favorite female character ever. I wish I could read that book again for the first time. <3
Hi Jean!! These are the ones:
Surviving Love (moody hottie that lives in her house, and she’s single & pregnant), and I Want It That Way (moody hottie single dad that lives in her apartment complex)…
😀
Ah crikey…. WHAT A LIST! So many good ones on this list. So everyone is mentioning Bright Side (but it sounds Kleenexy so I am avoiding it for now)…
So Jean – you are in a slump (kind of)… just to warn you, Six of Hearts was a DNF for me and Offside was good (but Twilight Fan Fiction so beware of that)…. but YAY YAY YAY you may go with My Familiar Stranger. If you’re in a PNR or fantasy mood then t’s your book. I freaking LOVED this book. She gets sent to an alternate parallel universe where there are hot vampire hunters, but not corny…. totally cool…. and a berserker and an ELF… yes, and elf….. but not just any elf…. Rammel Hawking (the hottest sweet talking elf that is described to look pretty much like the guy from TTM – so pretty it hurts)…. and she is the MOST kick-@$$ heroine ever. Seriously. LOVED this book. I hope you like it!!!! (sweating bullets).
It’s Friday night and I am in the mood for a great read! What’s everyone picking?
And how embarrassing is that up there – that MILE LONG rant about Fate Book – did I really say all that? Sheesh. I mean it was good. Really good, actually. But seriously? I must have been drinking too much coffee.
Oh. And I have to give a shout out for the book “Rule”… one of my favorites ever! It really stuck with me. Sometimes books are really good but you can hardly remember the plot details months later. With this one I remembered the details. It had that build up where they “hate” each other for long enough that it matters… and for good reasons. And the back story is heartbreaking, and his older brother is fantastic…. I just loved it. For 1.99 I’d grab it. Seriously.
LOVED Fan Girl and Fate’s Mistake. I imagine that you and other readers would enjoy them. The author took a little more liberty with the second book, and although I had mixed feelings, I still appreciated her take on the story. Trying not to give anything away here, but would definitely recommend them as solid weekend reads (by the pool or on the beach, of course). Happy Friday, all!
And Wife Number Seven was just a “meh” for me. So much promise. Such a great premise. Really intriguing idea. Just didn’t deliver that “oomph” for me. Just sayin….
Has anyone read and recommend the Savage Sons MC Series? https://www.amazon.com/Savage-Sons-Complete-4-Book-Boxed-ebook/dp/B00MF7FDK8/ref=sr_1_5?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1409928265&sr=1-5
It’s $0.99 on Kindle Countdown Deals for 7.5 more hours then goes up to $9.83, but does anyone here recommend?!?
Andee – have not read that series. One that I did read and is pretty cheap (first book is free so if you don’t like it no loss) – Bella Jewel’s The MC Sinner’s Books. Also, Lights of Peril by AC Bextor (first one is .99 until tomorrow) – loved that series!!! I am assuming you read Sheehan and Wylde’s books?
Bright Side, 67%…
Where’s the manatee? *sniffles*
Bright Side 83%… this is so sad…keep hoping, but I know I’m fooling myself…
*reaches for manatee and pitcher of drinks*
bev, I’m loving WiR. Crawling along with it due to time constraints but it’s not affecting how much I like it. Some books lose something when you can only read in snippets of time. This one doesn’t. I appreciate the recommendation.
Jean, what are you in the mood for? This one is another with a parallel univerese. Hominids. It wi stand alone but also has 2 others if you like it enough to want more.
I guess everyone has their badger worthy love. This one is mine. If you haven’t already noticed me bringing it up over and over and…hehehe
Wow, so relieved I didn’t click on Bright Side.
Thanks Maryse, they sound good! Usually can’t go wrong with a moody Hottie! Lol!
Thanks for the input Michelle! I did download My Familiar Stranger the other day when it was mentioned here.
Cannot go near Bright Side with everyone’s comments…. Don’t think my heart or stomach could take it (and I have no idea what it’s about).
Fabi I think I am just overwhelmed with choices right now.. Ugh!
Bev, ditto!
Fabi I get so happy when you say how much your loving it. Have to ask what’s a badger love?
Jean it can get overwhelming. I think that’s how I started to squirrel so much. I think it helped to make a list.
Finished Offside and less than a .hr left of TTT.
Fabi – I actually recommended your pick, Hominids, to a co-worker today because she LOVED Clan of the Cave Bear and is getting back to reading after a couple of us talked about Mercy Thompson…. and she read that and loved it and asked today for more book recommendations. Of course I also told her about WiR. Thought you’d get a kick out of that. I haven’t even read it but trust you enough that I passed on the name of the book. HA!
Badger as in when Amy was badgering about Room 212. I think several of us keep bringing up the same personal recommendation. Since someone told lil Amy she badgering, I figure we can take the blame for our personal badger worthy reads.
Bev, what did you think of Offside. I loved it. An easy 4 star for me. But I like YA and NA. I also really enjoyed Unmaking Hunter Kennedy although that one is much more YA than Offside.
I swear, if nothing grabs me tonight I am going to fork out the eleven bucks and read Murder of Crows. Just swear to me it’s as good as book one. And that they at least get to kiss in this one. There’s going to be some werewolf kissing, right???? Take those wire-rimmed glasses off and put her up on that counter already (the one they keep mentioning with the pass through and all that hopping over it). And Vlad…. is there going to be a little sumthin’ sumthin’ there? huh? huh? And what’s with the title?
MichelleS OMG OMG OMG I LOOOOOVED Clan of the Cave Bear. Have read the series 3 Times!!! So I’m thinking your friend is going to enjoy Hominids. Sweet of you to pass on the recommendation. You’ll have to tell me how she liked it if she reads it.
Hope you told her about Transcendence too. Although Hominids beats it hands down, it’s still a really good one.
Fabi, lol I was just coming back to type “duh”. You love a bbook enough to badger people. Took me a min. Hrmm guess mine are WIR and any Kleypas historical.
I liked Offside a lot. I wish there had been more development with Gardner and some of the Shakespeare quotes didn’t flow right for me. But I really liked it.
Going to take a reading break to cook dinner and watch WD ep Alone. Love this ep and watching it in order this time. I love how many strong women this show has and this ep very Daryl focused, lol.
WD? Sry I’m not much of a tv person
I think she means Walking Dead – I don’t watch it – I only watch game of Thrones and Outlander!
Oh Michelle S. I can not give away spoilers and I can not swear to any of that. I really liked it. One of my top reads of the year. I like the first one better but that could be because it is the first. Ummm, did I mention how much I like a sloooow burn and these have that, lol.
The title ties in very well with the story.
Maybe Michelle can give you a better idea if you should take the plunge or not.
I wasn’t able to finish reading the Game of Thrones series. I have that problem sometimes. A series that the world raves about I can’t seem to get into it. I also had a hard time finishing Outlander, but I did finish it. Via audio book. Then there’s Twilight which I’m considering reading for the 4th or 5th time. 🙂 Can’t really figure it out, why some books I mesh with and some I don’t.
Game of Thrones ♥♥♥♥
Yes Walking Dead. I usually stay away from any horror but the characters and the writing are incredible.
Ok stepping away from internet to watch, lol. And both are book adaptations so book talk in away.
Bev, I’m enjoying WIR but…alright, not sure how else to put this, and I am going to try to do it without sounding like a whiny b!tch. Maybe it is my slight attention issues causing this, but I am getting way too distracted with all of the scenery descriptions. I’m just not a “descriptive” kind of person that needs a lot of details to set the scene. I really do appreciate the lengths that authors go to when doing that and realize that there are those who *want* that kind of detail, but I am more of the type where I want a little bit of detail to give me a feel for the setting but then *please* move on with the story. I actually prefer to use my own imagination because if there is too much specific detail, I end up getting frustrated trying to reconcile the author’s description to what I am seeing in my head, and then I am all aggravated and can’t enjoy the reading.
Wow, that was…longwinded. I guess a quicker way would have been to say that I am enjoying it but skimming a lot. I just wanted to explain why I’m skimming. Nothing to do with the writing itself, just my own attention issues.
Did any of that make sense? If not, then I just wasted a lot of space here. Whatever. I’m having a p!ssy mood swing. I need a drink. Or three. 😉
Maryse! You one-clicked two moody single guys? Yeah, okay…if that’s what you want to call it, you wanton woman. Had one too many of my sugar cookie martinis today, did we? 😛 LOL!!!!
Amy I am so with you on that. I haven’t gotten to that part in WiR but in other books, when the author goes on and on about the trees and sky and color of the coverlet I skim (at best). It doesn’t capture my attention at all. For me, the author has to be able to paint the scene succinctly, with as few words as possible and preferably from a character’s viewpoint.
Thanks for nothin’ Bev!!! I swear, there better be kissing….. 🙂
Hey, anybody here read “Don’t Let Go”? Where they are separated for 26 years? Is it any good? KA always had long ole’ separations, and I’m in a mood….
hrm, if there’s a new website where we can 1-click for hot, Moody guys, you mind sharing the link? *smirk*
Hahahhahahahah both Amy and Fabi are “on” tonight. BRATS!! 😛
Fabi, it was Jean who (jokingly) told me I was badgering about 212. And she was right. *giggle* And she said it with all of the sweetness that is Jean. 😉
*handing martinis and manatee over to Tessa and Cheryl* <——sounds like y'all need it right now!
*sigh* more book title acronyms that are driving me crazy with curiosity…
Can we officially ban acronyms from this site? Noooooo? *pout* 😉
Fine. I guess I have some acronym skill building to do…
*sneaks up behind Cheryl and Tessa…. Eyeing delicious cookie martinis… *
Nah, Maryse, it sounds like *you* are on something or other tonight…specifically two moody single guys!!
*cackling and hiding from whatever Maryse is going to toss at me*
Watch out, Cheryl and Tessa!!!
Just hold on, okay? *starts mixing more cookie martinis*
Amy, I know she was kidding and being sweet. Never thought differently. But I like the title “badger worthy” read. 🙂
Maryse, what acronyms? Do those boys have you too distracted to remember anything else? Lol
I agree with Maryse, I am lost with acronyms much of the time. Sorry for using them myself. How about if we just “shorten” the title? You know…. “written” for “Written in Red” instead of WiR? There’s been one floating around that starts with an O that I can’t figure out!! Where was it????
She is distracted from…dare I say it, Maryse? Do you dare me? ‘Cause you know I will say it…has the letters “e” and “j” in it…dare me?????
Ahhhhhhh Written in Red!!! *phew* that one was making me craaaazy. Ahhhhhh allllll better now.
Are you missing the big O Michelle?
*snicker snort*
Couldn’t resist. TGIF after all.
Amy! E and J sound like acronyms to me. I’m only daring you ’cause I can’t figure out what that stands for. I’m hopeless.
LOL!!!!
Screw it, I don’t need a dare…
She’s giving them an eyejob!!!! LOL!!!!!!! I would too if I had a couple of hot moody single guys to one-click! 😛
Edit if you need to, Maryse, but I couldn’t resist that one!!
Eye job!!!
*cackles* 😛
BAHAHAHAHA!!!! MichelleS needs help with the O!!!! LOL!!!!!
Lol Maryse, you guys have been doing that to with the acronyms for months. Hahaha. It took me forever to figure KA, among several others.
*covering face with hands*
I have slumped to some new lows tonight, haven’t I. *nervously giggles*
I just realized Amy is criticizing Written in Red!!! getting popcorn… this ought to be good….. (you are a brave girl Amy… this is a highly beloved book by several readers)…..
And let’s face it – even our best loved authors do some indulging with the “scenery” – hello Kristen Ashley – her books are 600+ pages because I know what bracelets she’s wearing and shoes and his outfit and the couch and the lamp and everything that is “kick @$$” looking… and we still love her. And what about JR Ward and all that clothing talk all the time with the Ferragamos and what not? But did you notice that Colleen Hoover does not do this AT ALL? Strictly character’s talking and interacting…..
Eye job. seriously rolling on the floor laughing at that
Eye job…you know, when someone looks but doesn’t touch…nice way of saying eye fu… well, you know. *snort*
I’m hubby-less tonight and tipsy.
😐
Not a good combo sooooo…
You lucky ladies get the full force of me tonight!!!!!! Yay you!!!!!! 😛
My apologies in advance for whatever comments might show up on here from me…
*takes the manatee and snuggles more* I had to leave for an hour and the whole time, the book stayed on my mind. Martini?
Yay us!!! Amy rocks! 😀 and so do her martinis… 😉
I’m hubby-less too!!!!!!!!! He’s doing his once-a-year boy’s weekend – and trying to text me and talk me into having phone sex! AS IF!!!! He’s drunk, I’m sure. Maybe I should get drunk too. I’m not even tipsy. Drinking Dr Pepper 10…. how boring is that? And I am here on this blog instead of reading. What has happened to me?
And, please, Amy…. don’t stop. This is my entertainment for tonight.
Oops. Sorry Tessa… *blush*
Maryse, the acronyms could get a lot worse …
i.e.
ATM 2DAY N 4EAE I LUV AMB
Here, another glass for you. *hands Maryse a glass* 76% is killing me.
Ha! Amy, got it the 1st time. 🙂
‘course *I* would. hehehe
Amy, mix Maryse another one too. She’ll need it to work on those acronyms, especially since her eyes are otherwise occupied. 🙂
Awwwwwww, I’m feeling loooooooooved right now!!!!! 😀
Why, why, why would you turn down ANY kind of sex Michelee??????? My hubby can’t even call me from where he is so I’m gonna have MIND sex with him, HA!!!!
And Fabi…WTF did all of that mean? Just W.T.F. Maybe I’m a little more than tipsy. *giggle*
Ahem Michelle and what’s wrong with PS w/ hubby? Give the man a break. I bet it’s not so much fun being with a bunch of guys away from home sweet home. 🙂 *here, take one of Amy’s martinis)
Omg Amy we were both saying almost the same thing to Michelle at the same time
TFF
Lol I am seriously dying right now with all your comments! Yeah Fabi, WHAT was that?
HA! Jinx!!!!
And please…don’t ask what mind sex is ’cause I have no idea…it just sounded fun. And hands free.
The hell have I been drinking? *squints and tries to read bottle*
really? really? You need a translation? No more martini for you. You’ve been sneaking a sip out of every one you’ve mixed. *wink*
Nah nah nah…you’re not getting out of it…what. does. it. MEAN!!!!!!
Ok, for you Jean I’ll translate cause you’re so sweet and all. *but you’re gonna have to swipe one of those martinis for me*
ATM = at the moment
Hands free does not sound fun at all.
I give up Fabi. What the flim-flam is that?
I sent him a dirty text. Got an almost instant reply. 🙂 He is SOOOO easy.
2DAY is obviously today
Fine…I say it means something about an ATM today because you love to eat amebas.
How you like them apples!!!!!
*hee hee* I love it when my husband is easy! 😛
Ha! Michelle, we love ’em easy IRL
At the moment, today and forever and ever, I love………… ??? AMB???
Amy I was translating. And we’re both saying the same thing at the same time again … Getting a little weird in a lufffs u kinda way
GO MICHELLE!!!!! YEAHHHHH!!!
In our book world (hey – I can bring this back to topic!!) – my husband would not be called an “alpha male” (even though he would describe himself as such… which is even funnier). I told him my panties were a little wet and he is totally going with it!!! I think I’ve shocked him. Oh lordy. I blame all of you. Bad influences, the whole lot of ya!
You guys are nuts!
https://www.adameve.com/adult-sex-toys/vibrators/butterfly-vibrators/sp-adam-eve-purple-venus-butterfly-35913.aspx
Hands free doesn’t sound fun, huh? I suppose you prefer playing with a rabbit???
I’m gonna get banned in a time-out from here soon… *giggle*
You go Michelle! That’s awesome!
Wohoo!!! Michelle wins the prize! Tell hubby you’re a winner.
AMB I’ve used here several times. As in, never had a problem with tbr lists and book Doms till “After Maryse’s Blog”
See Maryse? You’ve had your very own acronym being used. Did you even realize it?
Gotta repeat, y’all started it and I had no clue for the longest time what you were talking about. Good thing I’m a quick study. hahaha
Maryse is going to ban all of us soon!
You are in so much trouble AMY!!! You are getting to get us all kicked off.
Friday nights at the Maryse’s Book Blog are in need of an R rating.
Is ANYONE reading tonight?
Who cares about a book now, let’s just read Michelle’s antics with her alpha/non-alpha hubby.
See ladies, reading is always educational.
*cackling* Yeah, I’m reading all of your comments!!!!!
Oh hush your collective groans!!! 😛
Actually, I think the only groan is coming from MichelleS!!!!!
Now taking bets on who gets booted first…
Okay, Since we’re fessing up about not understanding the acronyms…. it’s not one of those, but I don’t get the book dom thing. I mean, I can guess, of course…. but I don’t know for sure. And the manatee thing too. Must have come out when I was busy working and not posting like a fiend.
We need a PG 13 rating as well as a “ladies only” sign tonight.
Maryse, no offense taken if you edit/delete anything I post, tonight or ever.
My husband must be so flabbergasted and turned on and, I don’t know, happy that I went along with it that he showed it to his dumb @$$ friends, because one of them just texted me back and sent a pic of his behind! See what you did? Now I am going to be the slutty wife. I can’t show my face at any of the parties!!!! I blame all of you. (but he is probably sitting pretty as king of the alphas at his pow-wow, thumping his chest or something)
It’s Amy’s manatee so she’ll have to explain that one.
But as I understand it, we try to keep our (book) Doms happy cause we’re ascared of the red room ****. He/they become unhappy when we squirrel.
Ha! Figure that one out 10 y.o. missy reading MB. 🙂
OMG!!!!!!!!!! I just blew my drienk through my nose!!!!!@ That is the most freaking awesome thing I’ve heard in a while!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!
I’m picturing the guy on the front of BDB The King as your hubby!! LOL!!!!!!
Finished Bright Side. Dear God I’m wiped. Oh yeh, UGLY CRY. Acronyms, mind sex, phone sex, dirty texting, martinis (lots), manatees, I think I need it all to recover from this. Moving, well-written story, just still sitting back in disbelief.
Reading your funny comments has certainly helped… *drinks cookie martini eyeing Maryse the entire time*
Oh Michelle, you just became the queen of the wives. Just txt back “no thnx, I like the one I have coming back home (whenever he’s coming back home)
🙂 have fun! Make them all feel young again
*taking a bow* to Cheryl. Any way I can help a woman enough woman to read that book – anytime Cheryl anytime
Michelle, did you read Night Owl? Matt has a stuffed manatee in it (seriously the most sniffle inducing scene) and I have a real stuffed manatee that I offer for virtual snuggles when we need them. His name is Manny!!!!!!
*pats seat beside me* Over here for the manatee snuggle Cheryl. I’m not even gonna attempt standing right now… 😉
Was supposed to read “woman strong enough”
Yeah maybe about time I go try to catch up on my long neglected shows
I DID read Night Owl. He had a stuffed manatee? I don’t remember that! Okay. Got it. Ask Amy for snuggles when books get too angsty.
I gave the guys just enough to vault my husband to alpha status for the weekend. Little does he know that a half dozen women are on to him – and that we know what a real alpha man is like (like Tate and Tack!). I’m sure it made his weekend. Thanks for talking me into it.
I’m going to opt out of Bright Side if it’s that emotional. I don’t want to feel depressed or sad. I just want to be entertained. That’s why I used to read so much PNR. It was a total escape. And had sexy growly men. And feisty women. At this point, even a guy in a kilt would do it for me. Just no more death and sorrow and heartache and pain!! I can’t take it.
Kilts = easy access
😉
Ok. Last comment of the night for me: Amy, I only wish my hubby looked like the guy on the front of The King!!! You know, I NEVER pictured Wrath looking like that! Not at all. She did get Rhev right on his cover, though.
Good night to all. You guys have kept me thoroughly entertained while my hubby is gone. Maryse must be reading something good since she has left us alone to muck up her perfectly respectable blog!
I promise to be good from now on. (Well, I’ll try. Amy starts most of it. Blame her.)
Amy u would definitely be the first one booted! Haha!
Oh MichelleS you left right before I could recommend a fun if slightly x rated read for your lonely weekend
Kilts, mmm nah, those hairy legs really don’t do it for me *snort*
FINE! I’m a loser and still looking…. so recommend away!
Say it isn’t so Fabi!!!! men in kilts don’t do it for you? you didn’t love Moning’s Highlanders? And Jamie wears a kilt for crying out loud!!! And they say “lassie” and stupid endearments like that! Who doesn’t like a man in a kilt?
No doubt I would be the first, Jean! See why I don’t get drunk in public? Tipsy in public, yes. Drunk, noooooooo. I’m past of the age of being cute when I’m drunk. 😉
LOL Michelle! And I just felt a little horrified with the thought of some sweet lady coming along to Maryse’s blog looking for book conversation and finds…this. *covering face and shaking head*
I’m gonna *attempt* to read now…I cut myself off after the last one went through my nose with Michelle’s comment!
Oh my very own acronym!!
Fabi.
Fabi.
FABI!!!!
How the heck to you avoid your guy’s legs if hair bothers you so much?!?!?!?
Uh, that would be “How the heck DO you avoid…”
THERE she is!!!!!! 😀
Oh now we’re in trouble. Maryse is back.
Maryse – it’s all Amy’s fault. She eggs us on. You know how she is. I was just about to start reading. I SWEAR I WAS.
*runs and hides behind couch*
Be quiet Michelle! 😛
Sorry got distracted.
1. I love Highlanders
2. I’d rather look at other parts of the male physique rather than the legs. They don’t “bother ” me. I just find other physical attributes more attractive.
3. If you a totally useless full of sex read try A Gentleman’s Wager. It has it all. It’s even classified a historical. Ha!
Hurry up and say something about books already!!!! She might not notice.
Hey, guys… guess what! KA’s Unfinished heroes series is just .99 for each book. Knight was my favorite.
(just go along with it….)
Oohhh Amy! Michelle just threw you under the bus. *giggle* pot call kettle black much?
*going along with it* (always do anyways…)
Cool! $0.99! And it’s a series I have on my wish list. 🙂
A gentleman’s wager, eh? BRING IT ON!!! This is the first line I see on amazon….
‘female fantasy off the leash’ \ ‘They’re written especially for women so will hit the right buttons’
It costs over six bucks – but I am trusting you Fabi. Here I go….
Oh wait, let me see if I have it lendable
Phooey! No, mine’s paperback. Can’t believe it costs that much. But if you want smutty, this one has it!
Michelle! Do you know how foolish it is for me to drunk one-click???
I went and bought a BUNCH of new books just now just because of the pretty covers…and all because you tempted me with the KA .99 books!!
Fabi, it’s okay…I owe Michelle for pressuring her into the phone sex with her hubby and the mayhem that followed with his friends. *snort* 😉
Goodnight, my friends. *mwah*
mwah luffs you all
Michelle you’ll have to tell me if you read that. Maryse won’t be able to review it. *blush* <— don't worry it's fake, not much makes me blush at this late in life 🙂
Wow a girl steps away for an hour and you all went crazy. Lol.
Amy, Amy, Amy…. Skimming? *shakes head*
Who read every word of Half-Blood? *Looks around*
Oh that’s right me. Me and Michelle.
Hmmm…… seems to me there was another Amy book I read every word of..
What was that called again? Oh I remember. THE TIED MAN!!
Ack, I need more happy here. I’m at 95% and… And… I need happy. You all stopped typing.
*grabs manatee*
Oh my!! While I was reading a sob book, you girls were being bratty. Even the Book Doms are gone… I think we need new ones. 😉
Now excuse me while I go wipe my face. And change my pj top. And dig myself out of these crumpled soggy tissues.
I just finished Unlit Star (ugh – really emotional, but beautifully written), and this thread was a perfect “read” after that one hehe lots of activity tonight!!
Michelle – thanks for the MC recommendations. 🙂
I loved Fan Girl and Fate’s Mistake!! I do think Fate’s Mistake was the stronger of the two, so when you decide to check them out, I’d start with the second book 😉
I am going to stalk you EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. until you read Bright Side!!!!!!
Maryse, sounds like you just got done reading Bright Side.
Maryse – I would highly recommend Rule by Jay Crownover. I kept putting it off but finally my reading buddy wouldn’t take my ignoring it anymore and said she’d read one I wantedher to if I would read Rule. As soon as I started it I knew I was an idiot for putting it off for so long. 😉 It was great! Tattooed player and spoiled rich girl… but it was less cliche than that sounds. Soo good! And loved the angst too. It had everything.
*holding hand up* “scouts honor” I will never be brave enough to read Bright Side. A novel that brought the mightiest of you to soggy, gut clenching tears. Nope, nuh, uh. squawk squawk
*looking around for MichelleS* Michelle? oh Micheeelle… Did you happen to read a poorly written, basically plotless, sex fest book last night? If so, *dying to know* did you go hunt your husband down? *snicker*
Now I remember why I have it in paperback.
1. So I can keep it away from my kids.
2. So I can bookmark the more (ummm) entertaining parts.
I wish I could say I’m going to spend the weekend reading WiR (for Maryse, Written in Red), but I have sooo much to do including work stuff. 🙁 I hate weekends that aren’t weekends. Know what I mean?
I did, Lin… I did.
I’m still all melancholy…
I agree Fabi, don’t think I can read Bright Side. Poor Maryse, she’s melancholy today…. Ugh! Was it worth it Maryse? Like really worth it??
Looks like none of you got any reading done last night!! You are all crazy! Haha!
Yah…
I’m just… melancholy. I’m gonna write the review (trying to, right now) but I’m afraid I’ll cry again…
Here Maryse. *hands over the manatee* You probably need this. That book broke me. I even woke up in tears just remembering it. (Especially the studio part)
Ack, tears again! Gonna read Finding Prince Charming. J.S. Cooper usually delivers and has a good HEA. I need that.
Jean, I almost want to say no, not worth it, but it was sincerely sweet and I fell in love with Gus. So, maybe?
I’d like to see what you’ll read next. It’s been a week and I have yet to read anything new. I’ve been ruined!
Fabi – no, i was too cheap to fork out the 6+ dollars for the poor;y written sex fest – for .99 I’d be all in! I decided to keep going with Bite and Release, the age difference cougar one in Alaska. It’s pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. I don’t like when the author has some big scene then POOF they skip to a week or a month later. It never makes sense to me. Everyone is all angsty and horny and then they avoid each other on Alaska for a week? Seriously? Oh well…. at least he’s really really yummy. He’s 6 foot 5 (why do short girls always swoon over the gigantic guys?)… and he has all those tattoos and he is bossy for a 21 year old. And he’s been in love with her since he was a kid. So even though your debauched historical sounded very appealing, it was just to $$ for me. I do spend money on books if they are a beloved author (even though I am starting to wait for JR Ward’s stuff in paperback!!).
Hubby update – he is now Mr. Sweetness – lots of sweet loving texts – men are so easy!!!!
Lin, wow, just wow. That book needs to have a bright red banner warning on it. I’ve never gone a week without reading something.
Would ya’ll believe I’m getting sympathy pains just from reading your comments?
Fabi – I think they are all NUTS. All that talk about being “ruined”… you just know someone has to die. I hate it when people die. I’d rather they be raped and kidnapped – but, please for the love of all that is holy let no one die… and let there be a happily ever after (look Maryse, no acronyms!!). I am not touching that book. No way. Not even after her review. Nope.
MichelleS Men ‘are’ easy aren’t they? But in a really sweet, lovable way.
I bought Bite and Release too. Couldn’t resist the cover nor the premise. 6’5″ sheesh, I’m 5’4″ (almost) and any guy over 6′ is a giant to me even in my highest heals. But who knows when I’ll get around to reading it.
I’ve decided that anything else I want is going on my wish list until my tbr is more under control. By that I mean, no more than a half dozen on tbr. Amy scared me with her giganormous number of tbr. I may occasionally make an exception for the all out group read or favorite author series, but 60+ on tbr is ridiculous for me. It’s not like every bookstore will be going out of business soon and I need to horde in case of doomsday.
“please for the love of all that is holy let no one die”
Exactly! And this is why I had such a problem with Rainfall (and UL to some extent <— using acronym on purpose to mitigate spoiler effect). I felt like in Rainfall there was A LOT of death. A person can overcome many things in life, but death is the one impossibility for all of us. It tends to shatter the ones left behind. I can't read about it.
***********SPOILER ALERT*************
Yes, Fabi – UL and others… like Carnage. It deserved that name I tell you. Did not see that coming. and there was a book two… so the first one ended with “carnage” and left you hanging. I was wondering why one Earth I had even read it. I am a HEA kind of person. I didn’t read Rainfall. So now I know.
This is also why I put down Forever, Interrupted. It seemed to be a story of grief and grieving, in general, and I am not in the mood for stomach clenching – well, at least not clenching from grief!!! Clenching from A Gentleman’s Wager type reading, I can do!
Thanks for the heads up on Rainfall. That’s in my TBR and… Just noooooo!
And I paid 10.38 for Forever, Interrupted. What was I thinking??? I could have had Murder of Crows!!! So now I am saving it for when I need a real book. You know, after too many MC and rock stars and wolves and such… you need a dose of reality…. then you quickly need to escape reality again. Viscous cycle.
I didn’t read Carnage. Everyone know now an HEA is a requirement for me. But even with an HEA, I can’t handle death in a plot with a modern, real life setting.
Tessa, my description may be a bit misleading. Maryse is the pro at reviews without revealing the story. So, please read her review or get her opinion before you shut down a book on my say so alone.
Besides, as much as I’m enjoying this contemporary romance genre, I still feel like the oddball here who doesn’t always mesh with everyone else’s opinion about a book.
Wonder if I’ll ever stop feeling like the newbie in this genre? 🙂
God Shaped Hole is $2.99 this morning (down from $9.99 usually)!!
*grins* I know the feeling. I got into this genre through the Up In the Air series, and went to l went to less risque afterwards. I can’t believe I used to despise contemporary romances. 🙂
Ditto Tessa, it was CR and Horror for me, all my life stayed away from both. One down…lol
😐
I feel and look like road kill this morning. Probably smell like it to. *snort*
Who has Manny? *holding hand out* His mama needs him.
So…Bright Side. Ugly cry and melancholy morning after? Huh. I’m in.
Maryse, you read my comments and I’m not banned from here?? Hehe, luffs you for that. 😉
I handed Manny to Maryse. She needed it.
And thanks for that last night. I needed to read that. *grins*
I snuffled on him. He’s gross again, Amy.
Thank you Tessa. Our manatee cuddles are in the review. I’m posting it this afternoon…
One last cuddle with manatee, hands back to Amy. *sniff still melancholy this morning just thinking about Bright Side (great descriptive word Maryse).
Read some samples to try to decide on next book and just kept reading Fan Girl, which is so far a good, somewhat upbeat, no-brainer read that I hope doesn’t kick my a$$.
Then I promise Amy I will read Room 212- just didn’t have it in me after Bright Side.
Finished TTT. I liked all of it except the ch ending.
TTT… ch… okay I figured out ch. Cliffhanger. TTTTTTTTT…?????
I’m going with one of the two moody dudes up there next…
Cheryl… Good up beat no brainer that won’t kick your a$$… Fate Book!! 🙂
You’re going with a moody dude Maryse? Oh please let it be Rule…. Love him so much….
Lol, sorry Maryse. I’m a lazy typer. Tall, Tatted, and Tempting and yeah had a cliff hanger.
Both of those moody guys look fun. Another thing I like only in books.
Who are the moody guys???
Your hubby isn’t a moody guy this morning, MichelleS…hehe…
*pulling blanket back over head*
You see, this is why Amy has never been offered a position in the State Dept as Ambassador to anywhere! Troublemaker!
He’s now posting pics on FB and being publicly adoring. I’m going to sext him regularly, seeing as it has proven beneficial.
Now, who is reading what? Can we please pick something Golden Dynasty like???
See Michelle? Boys are boys no matter their age. Told you it keeps ’em young.
Golden Dynastyige. Hmmm can’t think of one off the top of my head. Except, of course Game of Thrones.
Wait…
*looking at manatee*
Maryse, you DID snuffle on him!!! Dang, that must have been a helluva book. I’m going with that one or Unlit Star after I finish Written in Red. I’m not gonna let y’all be somber all by yourselves!
And Bev…you’ll be happy to know I’m no longer skimming. Well, for the most part. No attention deficit issues with me today. So get your panties unbunched. 😛 And before you ask…yep, I am really liking the story!
Hey, Amy as ambassador might work to diffuse some sticky situations. Unless she starts spilling drinks that is.
Hey now, MichelleS, I only had the best of intentions…and they paid off for ya. *giggle*
Um, about spilling drinks…I purposely spilled a drink on my lap right over my lady parts one time to cover up the fact that I had peed my pants from laughing so hard.
It worked, too, as everyone thought I was just a klutz and had no idea what had actually happened.
Alright, you ladies better share some embarrassing stories now…
Most embarrassing moment for me – when I started dating my husband (in the late 80’s – GASP!) we went to a “function” (wedding, I think?) and you know you had the wear nylons back then (along with something rayon, ugh!)… so we both got a bit excited and found someplace private. Nylons and small spaces and fumbling around do NOT go together well, so my nylons ripped. We came back to the party and I was suddenly sans nylons, and I just KNOW that everyone knew what went down in the other room. After that I don’t think I EVER wore nylons again. I can’t even look at them now without remembering that episode.
Anyone planning on reading Sylvia Day’s “captivated by You” – book 4 of Crossfire series that comes out in Nov? I can’t even remember what happened in book 3. I guess I am so over that genre. Anyone else? (and it was my favorite of that bunch too…. weird how taste changes).
@Michelle S in the intro to the list Maryse points out the two guys.
Did you read Game of Thrones? Love that book.
I was in a sombre mood after Walking Dead but then finished TTT and now can’t get New York New York by Ryan Adams out of my head. I have no clue how to copy a link from youtube.
MichelleS, I was going to say that’s one to tell the grandkids (that’s freaking awesome, by the way! :P) when I remembered I just one-clicked a book the other day called One To Tell the Grandkids…it looks pretty promising!!!!
Bev, did you just finish watching the last season of WD?
Six of Hearts for me today. But I have a lot of house work and errands so not sure how much reading time I’ll have. But probably a lot of music.
I don’t know where my detail limit is and when I’ll skim. I think it depends a lot on the author and genre. Amy iv heard others say that details interfere with how they imagine the book, even character descriptions. It drives me nuts if I don’t know what the character looks like, lol.
Amy – never going to tell my grandkids that one! I blamed my husband’s too-long fingernails – and 25 years later if his nails even get a little too long and I mention it he knows what I am talking about. One incident and we still reference it. (they were stupid black nylons too – yuck – so the change was really obvious when I came back without them on)…. 🙂
I never watched WD. I never read Game of Thrones but I love the show and now am not reading it to avoid spoilers.
I wonder who Maryse picked?
Oh man Bev – with SO MANY good ones out there you picked Six of Hearts? (ducking all Kindles being thrown my way). I don’t think Maryse loved it either…… what happened to My Familiar Stranger??? huh? huh? I read Written in Red. You owe me.
@Amy yes and stayed up way to late doing it. Great season, but whoa some heavy stuff. And if TERMINUS are doing what I think? BLECH!!! So Rick is back in badass mode, lol.
Where do you think Beth is?
Bev – you loved WiR, you’re a Kleypas fan. So I am guessing you might like historical PLUS paranormal? Did you ever read Bybee’s MacCoinnich Time Travels Books? They were really good. I am a bad, bad person for trying to talk you out of 6 of hearts, aren’t I?
Michelle S that is next week right after Rock Addiction. It is downloaded and waiting promise. I wanted to clean up my tbr a little. Plus I was enjoying it.=-O
I’ll throw one out and take the tomatoes. I did not like the Twilight series. Buddy read them and Bella made me want to bang my head on the table.
*ducking waaaaay down*
OH – and Bev – Lord of the Isles by Mazzuca – one of THE BEST time travel, highlander + paranormal I ever read. LOVED IT like crazy. Put that one on your list. It had the same feel as Karen Moning’s Highlanders. It’s the only thing that has ever come close to that for me. If you’re ever in the mood for that kind of thing. Maybe I should just read that tonight?
He’s gross isn’t he? I totally snuffled. What’s a little snuffle amongst friends? 😉
*high fives Bev*
By the time I read Twilight, I’d been reading vampire novels for 15 years. It’s not exactly the best.
Hey Bev – can I tempt you with Lord of the Isles? hmmm? It’s LOANABLE for Kindle…. and you turned me on to WiR, so I kinda’ owe you! (even though I still think you should read My Familiar Stranger). Being wicked. Sorry. Just all this NA snuffling stuff is not doing it for me today.
Yah Michelle, I liked “Hearts” but not in love with it… I was pretty much with you on all of the books you mentioned above (except for the ones I haven’t read yet).
I think I’m going with “I Want It That Way”…
MichelleS…. love your nylons. 😉 Or lack of ’em. LOL!! That was a great story!
As you can see I’m slowly scrolling backwards and reading you guys’s brattiness.
Yes. I said guys’s. 😛
Based strictly on THAT list right up there, knowing what I know now… I’d pick Rule for sure. It had everything. The guy (the guy!!! oh…. the guy)…. and the girl (smart, sassy, sweet, likable). The older brother. The forbidden aspect (it’s no secret, it’s in the blurb – she is his dead twin brother’s girl since high school!!)…. what else can I say to convince you? It was GOOD. Totally missing out on that one. I SWEAR you’d love it. I just know it.
Oooooh dead twin brother’s GIRL!!!???!!! SCANDALOUS!!! Sounds perfect!
IT WAS!!!! And, of course, dead twin’s death was tragic – and all that guilt – and then the attraction that is so obvious between the two – love/hate at it’s best. And his parents and how they deal with all of it. And she is just trying to keep everyone happy and together. And he’s a major rebel. And a slut! And she has witnessed it all. And the older brother joined the service. And he just loves his younger brother and loves her being in the family. And… and… and…. just READ IT ALREADY!!!
@ Michelle S LALALA can’t hear you LALALA
Seriously that’s sweet and may take you up on the loan later. I’m sticking to my half finished for now. Mostly because from today til Friday I’m going to be a mix of a little bit busy to super busy.
I have been wanting to read more historical. I have a Tessa Dare sitting in line for after MFS. Have you read Hannah Howels time travel highlanders? I want to try them. And really really want to do a re read of Men in Kilts b ut afraid won’t like as much as I did.
Yes, read all of Hannah Howell’s. Good. But not “re-read” worthy. Re-read for me are: Paula Quinn, for sure! And The McTierney Brothers series. And of course the ones I just mentioned. I don’t read them hardly at all anymore. Only a re-read of a beloved title when the mood strikes me. No more trips to the library to pick out a dozen books with men in kilts on the cover!
Is anyone following this series?
My Forever (Destiny Series Book 2)
J L Perry
Kindle Edition: $2.99
I’m off to make notes on all these time travel, highlander, and pnr reads. Never heard of any and sure like the sub-genres. NOT buying, just making notes. 🙂
Fabi – after reading Moning I went a little nuts – read everything I could find in that genre – which is probably why I burned out – just like vamps! hardly ever read vamps anymore (with the exception of WiR because it has ‘Others’ not just vamps!!!)…. and Mercy Thompson, because it just kicks @$$….. and Stefan is a cool vamp!!!
What Vampire books are you still reading? Only new releases in beloved series for me………
Kindle Unlimited has Debbie Mazzuca Bundle: Lord of the Isles, warrior of the Isles & King of the Isles [Kindle Edition] for FREE
@ Tessa Thank you. I’ll take that high five, lol.
@Amy I don’t need Manny but a little of your energy. Instead of work or reading watching extras and contemplating how much coffee I should consume. Side note: Andrew Lincoln (Rick) has the most lovely British accent in real life. Love an accent.
Vampire book? Hmmm, well I just started WiR. I keep up with BDB, Dark Hunters, Dark Series by Feehan. Anything Moning comes out it of course, vampires or not. Uummm can’t think of any others off the top of my head. Several series I started but haven’t finished.
Fabi not time travel and you may have read them but Julie Garwood. Just fun, funny, sweet, swoony highland romance.
Oh Fabi – if you have Unlimited you should grab them. I loved that series. I wonder if I read it now if I’d love it? Or if my little ole’ unicorn heart has been tainted by Ryder, Caleb, Bastian, Soren, Tack, and the rest!?!? They were fun and romantic and feisty and magical and all that – but no one has tattoos or ties anyone up! Not a sadist to be found.
MichelleS, are these all time travel? Trying to make a list and add them to wish list.
“Yes, read all of Hannah Howell’s. Good. But not “re-read” worthy. Re-read for me are: Paula Quinn, for sure! And The McTierney Brothers series.”
I don’t think I know Caleb, Soren and Tack. Either that or I’ve forgotten their stories. Happens often to me.
Garwood is a sweetheart. Read many of hers, though it was years ago.
Yup – Bev – the Highalnd Laird’s and Laird’s Fiancees by Garwood. I am telling you. I was a nut over guys in kilts. Now, it’s pretty much just Jamie Fraser. And occasionally, I re-read Moning because Adam Black and Daegus MacKelter are unbelievably HOT.
btw I only like time tavel when it’s + romance or + sci fi (including some urban fantasy). Others (like TTW, TIime Traveler’s Wife) don’t work for me.
No, Fabi, only Bybee’s and Mazucca’s are time travel. The others are just good ole’ Highland romances.
Caleb – Captive in the Dark
Soren – The Original Sinners series
Tack – Motorcycle Man – Kristen Ashley
Adam Black is the ultimate book hero-god-boyfriend-love…etc
Nope, I don’t know Caleb, Soren or Tack yet.
KMM ‘s highlanders were great.
Michelle S that is how I feel about Men in Kilts. When I read it I was all ok want to marry a scottish farmer and live in the highlands. One day soon will re read.
One more cup and then need to log off.
“Yes, read all of Hannah Howell’s. Good. But not “re-read” worthy. Re-read for me are: Paula Quinn, for sure! And The McTierney Brothers series.”
Yeah, in all honesty, getting a little tired of the BDSM plots. I mean, once the shock wears off with the first couple ones, doesn’t seem to be my thing. The h’s always piss me off as do the H’s but the female character more so.
AGREED Fabi. Adam Black is definitely top-of-the-heap for me. If I am going to read about a guy I want him to be over the top – tall, alpha, drop dead gorgeous, attitude, swagger, dressed to kill…. all of it. Not ashamed to say it. And he had all that. Daegus was a close second though, you have to admit. And, of course, my sweet Rammel Hawking that I get to keep all to myself since no one else will read about him (Knights of Black Swan…. my swan song that I get to badger everyone about)…. he’s the ultimate except blonde! go figure! I never like blondes……
Wrong quote above. Guess clipboard failed. Was supposed to be:
“and all that – but no one has tattoos or ties anyone up! Not a sadist to be found.”
Aw, come on!!! I was so adamant about sticking to my list and then you guys have to get me all worked up about Rule. *sigh* And I already have it on my iPad! Yay! Okay, list has been adjusted and Rule is coming up for me in the next few days.
Maryse, snuffle away! 😉 After having helped a friend blow her nose while sick and having her puke on me and then emptying another friend’s drains after surgery, nothing phases me. Now a stranger’s snuffle or other, um, stuff…no. Ew. *shudder*
Rammel is in the short list of my #1 next reads.
Is Rule in Maryse’s list above? Been meaning to ask forever
Bev and Fabi – this is a link to the “cast” of characters in Knights of the Black Swan (My Familiar Stranger is book one and FREE) – the series I badger everyone about that I love so much. Now, come one… you know you want to read it now. Look at those guys!!! Ram is the Elf Prince of Ireland and he has that cool accent. (Bev – this is my WiR… the one I will badget everyone with forever until someone else reads it.)
https://victoriadanann.me/the-cast/
Pnr not mentioned. Kate Daniel series by Ilona Andrews, Chicagoland Vampires, Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole, Undead series by Maryjanice Davis, Archangel series by Malina Singh, Anita Blake – Vampire Hunter ( the beginnings. Later they start sucking), Fae Chronicles, Vampire Diaries, or anything by LJ Smith, The Hollows (see above, last book comes out Tuesday. Yeah!!!!)
Just a few. *blushes*
Fabi Tack is from Motorcycle Man by KA.
Favorite blond for me is maybe Sebastian from Kleypas’ Devil in Winter.
Next month maybe we should do another round of book swapping.
Looks like Rule is part of a series. Is it the first one?
Bev, tell you what…let me get some more caffeine in my system and then I can toss some energy your way!
Terminus is *definitely* up to that stuff. No doubt about it. Dollish Polish has a color called Look At the Flowers Lizzie based on The Grove episode. It would make a good pedi color, but I think I would feel horrible every time I looked at it!
Alright, speaking of hot guys with British accents and for any SOA fans, check this out:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLIDyzBpnfjqnqJA9qNoLtwXGSlHsJtLJa&v=dkanpEpWOVM
LOL!!!!!!
Yes, MichelleS, your badger is sharing my #1 tbr spot
Hmm curious who the Robert Carlyle character will be. Love him. Rock Addiction comes out Tues then right on to that book.
@ Tessa no need to blush. We all love throwing our recs out their.
I’ll throw one out that I loved and never see mentioned. War of the Oaks by Emma Bull. So so fun and good.
@Amy love it!! Not ready to finish that season yet. So sad. And pissed at Jax. The flower scene was hard. One of those what would you do? And is there any thing as scary as a scary kid?
Or a butcher villain? Lol. When a butcher showed up in a season of Justified I was all “no no no.”
@ bev. Never heard of it. I’ll look for it after this prince series. A new pnr is always welcomed.
Oooh, and faeries! My favorite!
Oooh Tessa, I like “the fae” too. Lol
Okay okay… are we all doing Rule tonight? Who’s doing Rule? I’ll do Rule if you do Rule.
Amy… shut it! But do Rule. 😉 *snort*
Maryse, is it the continuation of a series? It seemed like it on amazon
I think Rule is book #1 (and I think each one is about a different guy)…
I read Rule when it came out. I liked it enough to download Rome, but not as much as Michelle. But definitely a nice read.
Fabi Rule is a standalone.
Rule is a stand alone, but the series continues with other characters introduced…. I read it twice… and I don’t often do that! Ooh. Hope you like it!
Oh, I am IN! I’ll do Rule with you!! That twin thing always gets me. 😉
Sounds like tonight is going to be a menage a Rule. *snort* Yeah, so that was cheesy. And probably made no sense. Whatever. Sounded hot to me.
I think someone is missing her hubby even more than I am…. with her meange and hands free entertainment! Whatcha’ drinking that’s “twin” themed?
I have company coming to watch Outlander since they are cheapos and won’t get STARZ channel. So they get pizza! No effort on my part.
I hope they don’t stay too long so I can check in with ya’ll about “Rule” and whatever else Amy gets up to and started!!!
(I almost hate to recommend anything to Maryse – she’s hard to please… biting my nails….).
Hey, I have Rule and haven’t read it. Who knew? It was even in my finished collection, but not touched. (Oops?). After my Prince series though. It’s too fun and the Prince is an a–! Every time she starts to like him, he talks and ruins it. *grins*
I am drinking *nothing* tonight but sweet tea…completely virgin sweet tea. No liquor for me tonight. *shudder* I will make some Twin Peaks martinis for all of you, though. 😉
*giggle* Speaking of hands free, you should text that link to your hubby and see what kind of reaction you get!
Rule, huh?! As soon as I’m finished with Fan Girl I’m in!!
What Amy – no ménage or Rule drink?!
………… cricket noise……………….
awfully quiet around here……….
Reading Rule. 😛 My Prince story doesn’t have book 3 until October. *groans* So far, Rule is a cute story.
What book is My Prince? I found one on amazon, by C Petitt, but there is only one book….. is that the one Tessa?
85% into Six of Hearts. I’m enjoying it. Not loving it like Painted Faces and liked her Nature of Cruelty better too. But for me still a good weekend read.
So how is Rule treating everyone?
I’m into “Rule” only about only a quarter of the way so far. I had a hard time moving on, yesterday but I’m better today. 😀
Oh sorry. The first book is called Finding My Prince by J.S. Cooper. I like her books. Fun, a little drama, but light and happy in the end.
I loved Rule and each book after it! Hope you “guys” are enjoying it!
Finished!! Wish that part of the story would of been set during Matilda’s childhood. Also would of enjoyed some hints that he was aware of her before their first meeting.
Now books down and off to be productive, but tonight All of You by Gina Sorelle. I was only 11% in before I got distracted.
Bev, when you mentioned “Hannah Howels time travel highlanders”, which series were you talking about? She seems to have several and so many books are free on Kindle Unlimited.
Oooo bev I always wanted to read that Gina Sorelle book! I’ve had it downloaded for a while now! How were you liking it?
Tesaa, I have to add one to your list above. I don’t know why this one is never mentioned in the urban fantasy lists but it is great.
Susan Ee is the bestselling author of the Penryn & the End of Days series. The first book is ANGELFALL.
Woot, Fabi. Never read it and it’s a Kindle Unlimited. I just downloaded it and added it to my TBR.
Thank you! 😀
Fabi – I read a bunch of Hannah Howell but don’t remember any of them being time travel!
cool, hope you like it Tessa
MichelleS, I like Highlanders best when it’s a modern type woman trying to deal with them.
Did you ever read the Jacquelyn Frank Shadowdwellers series, Pleasure, Rapture and Ecstasy? Nothing YA about these. 🙂
The Sarah McCarty Hell’s Eight series is hotness itself but no pnr or fantasy. A bit on the historical side but not historical as in hundreds/thousands of years ago. It was a bit out of my reading sprectrum when I first read them, but I LOVED them. Sooo yummy good.
@ Michelle S because they aren’t. LMAO
@Fabi I totally wrote the wrong name!!!! It’s Janet Chapman and the first book is Charming the Highlander. I have not read them but they look fun. The highlanders are sent to our time. On another blog I read they came highly recommend.
Hey I read Angelfall.
@Tessa have you read the first one All of Me? I loved it. I started All of you when it came out but…then switched. Now am back. I was enjoying it, but barely in. Danny, the hero, seems like the broken but ALL he wants is family type hero. The heroine has MS and so is reluctant to be In a relationship. If you haven’t read the first one the two h are sisters from a large, loud, loving Italian American family. And the heroes are partners and grew up in foster care. I think it will bring some romance so can’t wait to get back to it.
Thanks Bev, adding it to my wish list.
Yes, Fabi (Shadowdwellers and Nightwalkers)…. loved Nightwalkers (Gideon the demon was my favorite). Those were the days……. 🙂
Hell’s Eight? I’ll check that out….. I need to start making a list of recommendations that ya’ll keep throwing out there! Losing track….
If you like the “modern woman” aspect of the Highlanders romp, then that ones I rec. yesterday are for you (Mazucca and Bybee).
I am trying to finish Bite & Release today. So far so good.
Added all of me to my TBR too. ( my book Dom is eyeing me.)
I remember Nightwalker. Some were good, and some were okay. Darn if I remember which is which at this point. :-\ I’ll try Shadowdwellers though.
Finished Fan Girl. Sweet, low angst book that was perfect after Bright Side.
Now, Rule or Room 212? May have to go w/ the group read…although the football/baseball theme stories above have me interested too.
I’m about 30% into Rule and having fun with it. Then again, I’m partial to tatted guys…my hubby has a three-quarter sleeve. 😛 Maybe I should have saved Rule for *after* Bri…er, that book whose name we will not speak of right now. 😉
How ya doing there, Maryse…is Rule making things better for you?
Cheryl, I would say you can’t go wrong with either one of those!
Toh, and read Son of No One. It was good, but in the land of Sherilyn Kenyon, it was okay. I expect a whole lot from her, so okay is still very readable. However, it is obviously starting a Thorn arch. He’s are next hero to slowly get to know and in this one, we learn a LOT about him.
Well I’m gone for the weekend and looks like I missed some craziness on here – sounds like you depleted all of Amy’s martinis?! I had to double check that I was actually on a book blog haha 😉
LOVE Susan Ee too Fabi and glad you brought that up.
All of these highlander books I need to add to my list. I’ve read a lot of them but I see some new ones yey.
I’m going with In This Moment by Autumn Doughton tonight. Amy I’m also on Deity in the Covenant series but need a break since the last two books are out at my library and if I finish with what I have now, I will break down and buy them. I’m loving the series though!
Amy, have you read the Dark Elent series yet? Only the prologue and first book are out so far.
Michelle I thought I had in this moment, but it was a different book of hers. Don’t remember when I grabbed it or what it is about. Be curious to see what you think of her style.
Bev, I’m excited to try her books – picked up that and This Sky a while ago and got another rec to try them so I’m going for it. I will be deep into PNR all next week with all the upcoming releases so one last romance seemed to fit. What are you currently reading? Are you going to get back to the covenant series too? I liked the second book even more but like I said to Amy, the first read as a lot of setup to me so the second is getting more into the storyline. I plan to finish the third book by next week and then hopefully I can grab the last two from my library soon.
Fabi *whispers* your safe with the Meg, promise.
Michelle reading All of You by Gina Sorelle. Then it will be Rock Addiction on Tues. After that promised to read My familiar Stranger. Trying to list reads so I stick. Have some library books may slot in here and there.
All of Me looks soo good – ohh I can’t hold back my clicker finger! Ok maybe I can squeeze that in before Tuesday. I assume you read that before All of You – was it good? You will love My Familiar Stranger – it’s a HUGE steal for being free!
I loved All of Me, but……it was a DNF for Maryse, I think.
Tessa, who is it by? I don’t think I’ve heard of it…
Yeah, Michelle, we got a little carried away Friday night. *giggle*
I know we like similar books though so I clicked it for only .99. All of You is over 600 pages whew that’s a long one!
Decided on Room 212, since already on my TBR list. If time, Rule, then it’s Rock Addiction on tuesday!! Yeh!!! 🙂
Michelle I think I picked it up on a Friday deal or something. And at first wasn’t into it and set it aside thinking I’d come back, like I do. Then read a review that raved about it. So, picked back up and so glad I did. I really liked how the heroine handled herself and fell hard for the hero.
Michelle, Elixir (the novella right after Deity) is from Aiden’s POV.
OMG.
I didn’t think I could fall any more in love with him, but after Elixir… *swooooooooon* Be still my freaking heart.
Stop it Amy…*whimpers* stop…I have no will power and will derail my reading order to go back to deity just so I can get to elixir!
“You will love My Familiar Stranger – it’s a HUGE steal for being free!”
MICHELLE!!!! FINALLY someone else who has read Knights of Black Swan series!!! I have been badgering away and Fabi took the bait. I love that book. I love Ram and Elora (and I loved Storm’s story and the latest book). I’m just a nut for this series. So glad I’m not the only one.
Since you love Black Swan and The Others, I will trust you about Covenant. I might just start book one tonight. Real world folks aren’t doing it for me right now.
Amy – Jennifer Armentrout. It’s her latest series and second book comes out in Nov? I think? It’s really good so far. The prequel is more of random people, (maybe more important later) but does help to build the world.
Yeah I loved it and being free is ridiculous to me since it really is a quality book. Anything Ram and Elora I adored too (loved book 3 as well) but some of the other storylines were just ok for me – I guess it was hard to top the first book but I enjoyed them all (haven’t read book 7 yet though).
Amy is the one who got me to try the Covenant series and so far I love it. I haven’t read a PNR that’s more YA in a while but it definitely isn’t corny and the writing is great.
If you liked WiR and MFS and don’t want anymore real world folks (made me lol) stories at the moment, then I really recommend the Kim Harrison series above. The final book comes out Tuesday so you wouldn’t have to wait and could read the whole series all in one go.
Oh and MichelleS I love the Rylee Adamson series too by Shannon Mayer and the next book is coming out Tuesday as well.
Trip colored eyes! That’s literally what I think about with that series. (Before that, I had no idea my eyes had a name) I like the Rylee series, but have been slow trudging through it. I’m on 5 right now. And I have it and will read it eventually. Four just slowed me down a lot.
Amy – I just started Half Blood. I’m at about 25%. Aiden is a big ole’ salami stick dipped in Nutella – he’s that yummy 🙂 and I don’t know who is going to do what, but I like his rascally brother too. And she is a hoot. Cool world building. Too bad it’s YA so there won’t be any hot sex!!! But it’s still a good story.
MichelleS you’re killing me. That’s one of the ones I wanna read so bad. Shoot, I just have too many in my top spot right now. It’s not supposed to be a bad thing. It’s just that I get impatient.
Fabi are you going to read Rock Addiction on Tues?
I want to. I want to. I want to so bad. But I don’t think I’ll be done with WiR yet. So little reading time right now. I’m lucky if I can squeeze in a half hour a day.
Ouch, Fabi. That stinks.
Hmmmm, Michelle…all of this Aiden talk is making me think that I just might have to dust off my Nook and take a peek at Elixir again. *snicker* Sorry! Couldn’t resist. 😛
Tessa, isn’t that the gargoyle series? White Hot Kiss or something? I haven’t read those yet, but her NA series (Wait for You) is really, really good and HOT!! *fanning myself*
MichelleS, I know!!!! He only gets better and better. And I love Alex. And I love them together. And Deacon! Ohhh, I miss that group…
Oh! Here’s that page with links to Covenant (and Lux!) extras. I told you…I was obsessed with Covenant for a while and devoured everything I could find. 😉
https://deityisland.blogspot.com/p/links.html
Yep, gargoyle series. It’s really good so far. A new NA by her? Ooooooh!
Oh! J. Lynn. I forgot they were the same person. I’ve got to go through all these reading apps because I know I’ve read it.
Gargoyles? That is different.
Amy, two questions. Did you finish? And do the books go more into Deacon’s life?
Wow. This comment section has gotten long. I probably could of finished a chapter or two in the amount of time it took me to read all of them, lol.
Gargoyles – reminds me of Jacquelyn Frank’s Nightwalker series. Good but Shadowdwellers blows it away.
Amy thanks for the link. It had a few extras for Lux which I was so sorry to see end.
Definitely not Nightwalker, or your typical gargoyle. It’s definitely different. After these TBRs, I think I’ll reread it.
Finished Room 212. You were right Amy- it was a really good book!! 😉
Bev, I started reading the Covenant series when I found it a couple of years ago and then followed it until the final book came out last year. Deacon pops up often in all the books, BUT there is a spinoff series coming in February for, um, a certain character, and Deacon is supposed to be in it as well with his love interest. And it is NA which means sex!!!!! At least, I’m assuming that… *giggle*
Yay Cheryl!! 😀 I love that you guys are enjoying it, too!
Fabi, aren’t those extras fun? By the way, Covenant reads pretty fast. 😉 Since you liked Lux, did you see the extra scene JA wrote that takes place a few years after the end of Opposition? It’s a quick peek into Daemon and Katy’s future. *content sigh*
Has anyone read Nothing Left to Lose? The blurb sounds good- murder, kidnapping, “pretend” undercover SWAT boyfriend… 😉
Cheryl, I haven’t read it, but apparently I bought it. *snort* It does look good…any idea if the series will be standalones with different characters or if it will be multiple books on the same couple?
Oh I downloaded that too but haven’t read it yet.
Amy!!!!! I have one word for you…… Translucent!!! Well?!?!?
Jean, I have one word for *you*…tonight!!! 😀 I had to finish up Written in Red and Rule first. You know I’m going to harass you something awful if the CH makes a mess out of me. ‘Cause you know me and CHs. 😉
Haha! Thought you were avoiding me….. You will survive, I promise! Just drink a lot of martinis when you finish! Lol!
Did you love Rule? Love that whole series, especially Jet and Rome, but Rule will always be my favorite!!
And what about WIR?? Good? I just finished Fate Book! Totally squirreled, and now thinking of jumping into Uncivilized which looks good! (Still have OES to get back to…how about you?)
Hey has anyone read Bastian’s Storm? I waited for months for that to come out, downloaded it immediately, and have yet to read it! Just wondering….
Oh no, Jean, there is no way I would be avoiding you if I was worked up about a CH. I *know* you know that. 😉
Rule… *sigh* I went back and forth between loving Mr. Hottie with a very special piercing and wanting to rip that piercing out. With pliers. It’s okay though…he was worth it!
WIR was good and reminded me a lot of the Pierced series in that it was heavy on PN with just a hint of possible romance somewhere down the line. I’ll wait for a sale on the next book though. $10.99? Um, no. Especially after *lightly* skimming the reviews and seeing some things people were disappointed with. 😕 And sooner or later we will get to OES, right. 😉
Should have been a question mark after “right”…I wasn’t being a snot there. *hee hee*
