<— PENELOPE DOUGLAS JUST WENT LIVE ALERT!!! Punk 57 is ready, and our fellow book-buddy, Grey, LOVED it!
Grey: This book took my feels for the Fall Away series, Corrupt and Misconduct threw them in the Kitchen-Aid and turned that sucker on. You’re going to read a million reviews of what this story is about, plus I’m not a spoiler queen, so I’m not going to waste your time recapping the story for you. Read the book! I’m just going to tell you that Penelope Douglas doesn’t pull any punches…
Kelly: Yee-Haw! I F-LOVE her books.
Gaaaaahhhh!!! That blurb was like a sucker-punch!! I LOVE IT!
Look what else we found! (NOTE: some are bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):

They were pen pals for years but when he finally saw her, he hated her?!! YIKES!!! “Her letters are always on black paper with silver writing. Sometimes there’s one a week or three in a day, but I need them. She’s the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am. We only had three rules. No social media, no phone numbers, no pictures. We had a good thing going. Why ruin it? Until I run across a photo of a girl online. Name’s Ryen, loves Gallo’s pizza, and worships her iPhone. What are the chances? F*ck it. I need to meet her. I just don’t expect to hate what I find.” <—-

But in her quest to save herself from the limitations of her old commune life, she lands herself in a dangerous situation, and Nikolai swoops in to her rescue, throwing her on the back of his dragon and flying off into the night. Addicted (Tempting Book 4) by Alex Lucian <— JUST WENT LIVE!!! SHE’S AN ESCORT ALERT!!! “Elias was dark and tempting. Unmatched in intensity and passion compared to my other clients. And I want her.” (here it is on Amazon UK)
- Garrett (Bachelors of the Ridge Book 2) by Karla Sorensen <— LIVE!!! THEY HATE EACH OTHER ALERT! “Garrett and Aurora are pushed into a situation neither of them want to be in— forced to work together for twelve months or risk losing everything. Twelve months where they can’t kill each other. Twelve long months, and only one of them will be left standing at the end. And in the process of surviving it—and each other—they’ll discover that there’s a very fine line between love and hate…” (it can be read as a standalone!) (here it is on Amazon UK)

Lela: Loved that series. Must read with wine 😉
Robin: Of course it is! Just after I bought the paper back because it was practically the same price for the ebook.
Teri: That is one of the best books ever. My first taste of contemporary romance angst! And like you all one of the first I read on kindle. But I still have the paperback of Beautiful Disaster.
Cait: God such an epic book loved it! Always fancied a drink in Petes

That’s how my husband sees me. I try to be the best wife possible for him. After all, he took me on when no one else would. Now–he’s in debt and owes more money to the loan shark than we can possibly repay. But, don’t worry, he’s come up with a solution, it’s just not one I was expecting. …I’ve been TRADED.” (here it is on Amazon UK)

Amy: Damn…Three Two One was good but I need a shot of Jager now.
Fabi: LOL Amy, glad you liked 321. It was kind of ‘out there’.
Amy: Fabi…I DID really like it! You’re right, it’s definitely “out there” but it was fun to get pushed outside of my comfort zone.
Yep Nay, it’s a menage book…I pretty much knew that going in, but HOLY MOLY! I didn’t expect it to go THERE!! *snort*
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon <— OMG OMG THIS SOUNDS AWESOME SO I JUST ONE-CLICKED IT!!!!! SHE CAN’T LEAVE THE HOUSE & HE MOVES IN NEXT DOOR ALERT!!! “My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla. But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly…” AND!!!!! bev recommends THIS one!!! (here it is on Amazon UK)

R: I finished Hausfrau. Going to throw myself in front of a train now. Or shoot tequila. My options are endless.
Amy: R…do you see why I ended up holding my head and walking around in circles for, like, five minutes after I finished it?!? It was late at night and I was all, “how the %&$# am I supposed to sleep after THAT??” I’m so glad you loved it!
R: Hausfrau Maryse. Read it. I loved it an hour ago, but Amy just pointed something out and now I LOVE it. And I’m seriously disturbed. Taking Manny and none of you can stop me.
Amy: MARYSE!!!!!! *points to R’s comment about Hausfrau* *raises eyebrows* I think we need to hold off on the Marmy list until after you read Hausfrau…just in case you react the same way I did (and R did). ‘Cause if you do, it will need a spot on that list!! 😀
R: I’m having a Hausfrau bookhangover something fierce. Thanks for that Amy.
Maryse: I LOVE me a book hangover, R… definitely moving it up my TBR, and I’m officially on it. Maybe even next since I already one clicked it months ago… I’m on it Amy!! This time I promise!!!!
Between Here and the Horizon by Callie Hart <— THE BLURB DOES NOT PREPARE YOU FOR WHAT HAPPENS?!! *gasp* Oh, I love the sound of that, and DG is enjoying it as we speak!! (here it is on Amazon UK)

Written in the Stars by by Aisha Saeed <— ARRANGED MARRIAGE/EMOTIONALLY TORTUROUS ALERT! My book-bud bev is being emotionally tortured over this one!!!
bev: You guys I’m a coward… I’m in the last 20 minutes of it and I’m stuck. I’m afraid to read on. I actually feel anxiety, lol. I kind of want to just read the end and kind of don’t want to know at all. I didn’t think it would hit me this much,I mean I’d feel empathy of course for any in this situation, but sort of a slow start and didn’t realize I had connected so with the heroine.
bev: I’m stuck.
Grey: Awww bev. *hug* *I* might be scared of that book… Never read it.
Maryse: Ooooh bev!!! *runs to see what the book is about* Oh nooooooo!!!! WOW… I can’t even IMAGINE being in that situation. Heart wrenching.
Ela: That is some freaky stuff right there bev…..you poor thing!

Theresa: Who knew farmers could be soooooo SEXY!!!!! I just finished Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen and it was a fun, sexy, feel good book that left me looking forward to the next release! The only warning I shall put out there is do NOT read this book if you are hungry because the home cooking was making my mouth water…so not fair to those of us that are not the best cooks in the world…reminded me of KA books! If you are looking for a sweet and at times sassy read then this one is for you…Enjoy!

Pull Me Close: The Panic Series by Sidney Halston – October 25th 2016
Rachel: Rachel: “Maryse I was recommended PULL ME CLOSE by Sidney halston via Goodreads. They’ve been harping on it so much I ended up getting a copy from Netgalley. Now I see what all the fuss is about! MARYSE, it is soooo damn good. Maybe the author will give you an arc or something. Listen to this…she had a tragic event something you are NOT expecting and has been a recluse for years because of it. She ends up meeting a guy who owns a nightclub. But she can’t go see him because she can’t leave her house beacaue she’s agoraphobic! Gahhh. So good.”
Jean: Oh, oh, oh……Pull Me Close! Already read an ARC and absolutely LOVED IT!!!! Highly recommend!
Mia: First time poster, long time follower. hahah. But I felt compelled to write. Earlier this week you posted a pre-order that I’ve had sitting on my Kindle for weeks from Netgalley and finally had the courage to read it. It’s called Pull Me Close. I don’t like books with damaged h’s because they make me cry and I hate to cry. Give me a Rom Com anytime of the week, please. Anyway. Christ on a cracker! It was the best book I’ve read this year. I swear, I was reading about myself most of the time. The h has social anxiety and hasn’t left her house but the events are based on like…current things. It’s one of those books you shouldn’t know too much about before going into it. So don’t say anything if you read it! Anyway, it was gooood. now I have a book hangover and am going to grab my usual Rom Com (A little Penny Reid for me). *sniffle sniffle*
Amy: Hi Mia!!! *big welcome hug* Don’t be a stranger around here.
And thanks for the heads up on Pull Me Close…whenever I hear we shouldn’t know too much before going into a book, it’s like catnip for me.

Happy book birthday to Penelope Douglas!!! I will totally reiterate my review. Read. The. Book!!!
LOL!!!!! This sounds right up my alley, THAT IS FOR SURE!!! 😀
You guys I’m a coward. I have a book I read in the morning. (Yes still buddy reading TBH)
The morning book is Written in the Stars. I’m in the last 20 minutes of it and I’m stuck.
I’m stuck.
Awww bev. *hug* *I* might be scared of that book… Never read it.
Ooooh bev!!!
*runs to see what the book is about*
Oh nooooooo!!!!
WOW… I can’t even IMAGINE being in that situation. Heart wrenching.
That is some freaky stuff right there bev…..you poor thing!
Doh – so I’ve one-clicked Butterfly. I hadda do it!!! And I FINALLY bought Thoughtless because you guys just won’t quit talking about it, LOL. And added about 4 to my “Want To Read List”.
Bev – who is the author on that Written In The Stars…and did you make it through? I’m sending you hugs in case you need the reinforcement.
Everything Everything…..1-click (especially since it’s a bev recommendation)! Bev, hang in there with your book! I’m still in Russia. Feel like I read and read and read and then only moved 1% forward! Haha…..I’m at 25% now but hoping for lots of reading time this weekend with nasty weather expected here! (I love nasty weather….lol)!
Punk 57 is calling my name too….
Dang Everything, Everything looks good! But bev sold me with:
“I’m in the last 20 minutes of it and I’m stuck. I’m afraid to read on. I actually feel anxiety, lol. I kind of want to just read the end and kind of don’t want to know at all.” Don’t even need to look up the book.”
Sorry that you’re all twisty bev, but this sounds super awesome-y. Take comfort that your pain is my gain 😉
I want to find time for Punk 57 too. October/November are overwhelming new release months.
I also preordered Scoring the Billionaire (can’t wait for the rest of Wes and Winnie’s story) and From Sand and Ash (Amy Harmon, nuff said).
Oh, oh, oh……Pull Me Close! Already read an ARC and absolutely LOVED IT!!!! Highly recommend!
*gasp*
YES JEAN!!!! How could I forget that one. It’s getting great reviews, and now YOU!!!! 😀
I just added it (and highlighted it).
“Your pain is my gain”…….blahahaha, that was hysterical R and I thought the same thing! (Sorry bev)
Crap Jean that one too! I read your review. It looks like a K. Halle cover, doesn’t it?? Love the blurb!
Fabi, yes, completely overwhelmed with all the new releases!
R, yes it does look like a K. Halle cover! You guys know I’m usually all for the broken hero, well in this book, the heroine is broken…..so good!
I finally broke down this morning and pulled up my scheduler. I added ARC review dates, loan expiration dates and planned BRs. I set up reminders for each a day or two in advance. Now, I just have to quit adding to it!
OMG Fabi I love that you practically need a separate calendar for reading. No one understands our lives.
Other people plan their vacations, I plan my reading time. Each book is a mini vacation for me.
It’s payday! Yay!!! Thank God! So I get to buy a couple, now to decide what I want… I need to finish the ARC that I’m proofing but I have a headache and I don’t want to miss anything, so I’m gonna switch out …decisions, decisions.
So insanely jealous of everyone that is at SBC this weekend too. That would be my ultimate wish, to get to meet some of my literary heroes, pick their brains, get autographs and pictures…gives me the chills just thinking about it!
What is everyone up to/reading tonight?
LOL R!! Okay I’m adding bev’s emotional-torture-book, even if she hasn’t answered us yet.
We need to search the blankie-forts.
I haven’t finished, I don’t get to sneak away from work to read. *shakes fist at work*
Not really I like my job.
I’m not sure what I should say when done. I don’t want to give too much away if any choose to read it. Especially you Marmy readers if I’m too relieved you’ll be disappointed.
Traded is AWESOME! I read it last spring & it’s on my re-read list.
M.N. Forgy has her Devil’s Dust MC series bundled & released yesterday for $9.99….this afternoon it went down to $.99!!! Get it while you can!!!
Did we ever get a confirmed author for Written in the Stars? I didn’t see it, and there’s a whole page of those books with that title! And what does ‘Marmy’ mean?
And Nay… I posted the book I *think* it is, up above as a bev “sort of” recommendation. LOL! I added the book cover so you can’t miss it. Here’s hoping it’s the right one, but I’m pretty sure, It seems like a book bev would choose, for sure! 😀
Wow Grey! What a lineup! You can always go to RT in May!! **waiting patiently for the author lineup!!**
bev! I’m only 3/4 Marmy so the HEA (if there is one) is a bonus!
Yes Maryse! She’s safe at work. No death-by-angst. We can read it! (But read Hausfrau first!) 😉
Which convention is SBC? Is that a writers’ one?
I assume it’s the Shameless Book Con
It’s FRIDAY!!!! yAY!!! It’s bday weekend! yay…haven’t started a Friday book yet…like to save the “good” ones that I have been waiting for the weekend….just not sure what it will be…Vampires, angsty or dragons…oh my!
Do I want a twist my belly up kinda read ( R, Jean and Bev are tempting me) or a happy feel good?!?!?
Nay… “Marmy” is a combination of the names “Maryse and Amy” (me and Amy!! 😉 ) and it refers to the kind of rip-your-heart-out, gut-puncher, -crazy-twist, or “crazy-ending” type books that we LOVE!
I will quote Amy’s explanation of “Marmy” which is pretty much perfect:
She says:
“YEP!!! The Marmy twins always have time for book hurt!! LOL!!!
So, for the newer friends here…a Marmy book will *potentially* do any (or all) of the following: make your tummy eat itself from angst, make your chest clench from trepidation, cause splotches from anxiety, rip your heart from your chest before pummeling it and stomping all over it, punch you in the ovaries, blindside you with a sledgehammer-to-the-chest twist, or make you ugly cry and snuffle all over Manny (our sweet, stuffed manatee). Also, there MAY or MAY NOT be an HEA…but we don’t do spoilers here so it could go either way. And we love ‘em both. 😉
BUT! Just because we both love the same book doesn’t make it a Marmy book. For example Cocky Bastard or On the Island (hey, there’s one for the low-angst list!). Okay, jumping off my big-mouth soapbox now…”
Yep, SBC, Shameless Book Con… Check it out on Facebook…sounds totally amazeballs!
Jeez Maryse…It’s like you’re proposing to me. I do.
Happy Birthday DG!! What day does it fall on??
Some great book covers this week. I love the cover of Dragons Need Love, Too. I might even give the book a try, even tho I haven’t read bk 1. Punk 57 has a striking cover as well.
Thanks R – it’s on Sunday!
Thanks, Maryse! So count me in as a Marmy book lover too! Is there a Marmy list or do we just go by ‘what to read after…’ lists that we know are gut-wrenching?
Oh, and duh, I forgot that a book being discussed would most likely be on the list at the top of the page! Thanks for posting the cover–that’s the one I guessed Bev was talking about.
The Marmy list is coming soon Nay! But They’ll happily give recs in the meantime!
I just got my Halloween costume in from Amazon!! We’re doing Phantom of the Opera! Anyone else dressing up?
Happy birthday DG! A bunch of 5 stars wishes to you.
I’m reading Punk 57. Angsty as all out.
Happy birthday, DG. *hugs*
Halloween isn’t such a big deal in Australia, but we can still watch all the fun you guys are having 🙂
Oooh it is, Tessa? After I finish One True Loves tonight, I might have to start it!
Yay! Can’t wait for the Marmy list!!
I am so behind in reading comments and Maryse’s posts. Real life so getting in the way. I think reality has finally hit my son in first semester of college. So “overwhelmed” -been talking him down from panic attack. 😉 Now taking daughter to school dance.
Just had to comment about Black Swan Affair. I loved it, such a good story; Not the typical “cookie-cutter” story. Wasn’t sure where it was going and had some twists I didn’t see coming and I was on the edge of my angst-ridden seat waiting for what the h was going to decide.
Happy Friday!!
Oh no!! Thanks for the *warning* Jan LOL 😉
I LOVE Halloween! It’s my anniversary! 15 years!
Nay! Why no status updates?? You can be honest with me…I can take it!
I love Halloween. I’m not dressing up this year but have decorated the house. Lol Heck, my obsession with Guild Wars 2 Halloween stuff should be an explanation in itself. 🙂
Nay, you like the death books?
Marmee is also the name of the mother in Little Women.
Yep, that’s the one. It also has a good cover.
Does it seem like a bev book? Lol.
Thanks Tessa and Jan! I have Punk 57 on my TBR ….the blurb definitely intrigues me….
Also I am waiting for someone …anyone to read From Here to the Horizon…chapter 7 was the wtf moment for me…curious if anyone else Has that same reaction…
Holy moly, I don’t think I have EVER seen bev react that way to a book!! I am clicking that one and Everything, Everything without hesitation. 😀
MARYSE!! I *know* I don’t have to tell you how excited I am for you to start Hausfrau!!!! <—— get the popcorn ready, R. 😉
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DG!!!!! *huge birthday hug*
DG…I clicked that one the other day, and I’ll probably be reading it here in the next few days, maybe after Punk 57 or one of bev’s books from today. Oh, and YAY for you being a Marmy!!! I can’t remember who coined that term (was it you, Tessa?) but I think it is the funniest thing. And all the Marmy books on one list? BOOKGASM!!!!
I LOVE Halloween!!! Probably more than Christmas, but that probably has to do with the fact that Christmas seems to start in November nowadays and by the time Christmas *actually* comes around, I am burnt out. 😕
Caramel apple martinis tonight, ladies!! Who’s gettin’ tipsy with me tonight???
Cheryl…*hugs* for you and your baby boy. Such an exciting but overwhelming time for a teenager. You’re a good momma!!
Amy, im surprised it is doing this to me. I didn’t think I was as invested as I am or maybe didn’t think it was going to have such serious stakes.
DG, happy birthday!!! Hope it’s a great one. 🙂
Caramel APPLE? HECK YES!!!!!!
ME PLEASE! 😀
Gah I LOVE the fall!
BOOKGASM!!!! I LOVE it Amy! Perfect term! Caramel appletinis count me in!!! Thanks for my bDay wishes and hugs ladies!
We love you DG!!! Happy birthday. The WHOLE WEEKEND is your birthday! 😀
YES!!! They are soooooo yummy!!
I mix sour apple schnapps, butterscotch schnapps, and plain vodka, then I melt a couple of caramel squares and drizzle that around the inside of the martini glass before pouring the mix of deliciousness in.
However…by the time I’ve had three of ’em, I usually don’t care enough to add the caramel anymore. 😛
OMG that sounds good but by the time I have 3 of them my costume won’t fit!
That’s what Spanx are for…
Can’t argue that!
Amy, also runs and does crossfit.
I’m a Marmy… We’re grey marmies LOL… Gimme a book that’s gonna kick my ass any day! I love ’em!
See?? I only run when I’m being chased.
Oh yeah, R?
Puh-lease. Why even bother at that point? I’d just give him my neck.
Amy, does your husband drink your cocktails?
Tessa, I know, right!?
Happy birthday weekend DG!!!
bev…how is it going, did you finish?
Amy, and this is why you always are the bartender around here!
Cheryl, hugs for you and your boy mama… It’s so hard being a parent when your kiddo is struggling… Sending good thoughts your way.
R, so what Phantom character are you? And what’s RT?
Maryse, what book are you reading right now?
Nay did you get Playing with Monsters yet???
Jan, Punk 57 has a great cover I thought too… So many right now have the half naked chest thing which I’m over it… So the splashy colors was right up my alley.
Fabi, I need a reading vacation!!! That’s awesome!
Lauren, hi!!! A reread huh?
Jean, are you reading Banking the Billionaire on Tuesday? Wanna BR?
Ela, how are you feeling?
Hope I got everyone… If not, hi!!!
Grey Marmies…like Manny!!! 😀
If it’s any consolation, I only run and do crossfit with a trainer because I love food and liquor, and I am the epitome of a pear shape so most of any weight gained goes to my lower half. And I don’t have the tits to balance it out so Christina Hendricks I AM NOT!!
My trainer actually told me one time it looked like I had edema in my a$$ after I tried to use edema of the shins to get out of running and doing box jumps. Jerk.
Cute.
https://bookriot.com/2016/10/21/bookish-beauty-products/
Bev…he tastes them, but he is a bourbon or whiskey guy.
I think you got it Grey! And thanks because I missed Chery’s post! Sending good vibes to your son Cheryl! He’ll adjust before you know it and find his routine. It sucks because HS does not prepare kids for college. My daughter is in an early college HS and the only thing early college about it is the name.
Oh and Grey, RT is the big convention in Atlanta in May. https://www.rtconvention.com/
And I’m dressing up as Christine Daae. This is my dress and I have a cape. I know she usually wears white, but Emmy Rossum wore burgundy in the movie! (and I’m under the wire!) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EE27QFM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Grey, no. I’m stuck.
RT is a book convention by Romantic Times. It’s huge. Happens in a different city every year.
Here’s Maryse
https://www.maryse.net/editorial/rt-book-lovers-convention-2015-recap.html
Amy, you two are totally KA characters. 😉
How fun are those items?!? Books and beauty items combined!!
Dang it! I put 2 links in one comment so I’m in moderation. But it’s Christine Daae, Grey and the convention is the Atlanta one in May.
Of course LAST year’s RT was in Dallas! Figures!
If we’re KA characters, then maybe we could get some of that special tea from the Fantastical series.
Some of us need a little help.
*cough* not me *cough*
😛
OMG I actually posted that…
Blame the martinis.
*blink blink*
Amy, you have to send him the romantic text. The KA one. Yes, from the hero’s pov……but still.
*rolling on floor laughing at Amy*. OMG that is HILIARIOUS!
Only 10% into Hausfrau but I’m TOTALLY into it. Love the writing style… and her thoughts.
Thanks Maryse! *blushes feeling the love* AND I am all about the weekend!
Now if I had a big ole glass of watermelon Chardonnay frappe I would be …happy and lit.
No mentioning that movie *shudders* That said, I adore Christine and that dress is beautiful. 🙂 Great choice.
I’ve never even seen the movie but I loved the latest musical tour. Best show I’ve seen since American Idiot.
Just finished reading “Win some lose some” by Shay Savage. Pleasantly surprised by the YA story. It was light, sweet and very uplifting. Sometimes I just need a angst free book to cleanse the palate. This one hit the spot. It had a similar feel as a fav of mine,”Puddle Jumping” by Amber J. Johnson.
Wow! Last night I kept checking and there was nothing…crickets on here, and tonight, when I haven’t been checking, y’all have written a novel!! lol
Cheryl–I did the exact same thing with my oldest son last year during his freshman year at college–more than once. He was a wreck that first semester. Hope yours gets adjusted soon!
R–I just got on here to say that One True Loves is breaking my heart! But I love it!!!
Grey–I live for those books too! We could be Greynay Marmys!
Bev–I love most all of them–Death, cheating, love triangles–anything that rips my guts out; however, right now, I do try to steer clear of any death books that have to do with a heart problem. I was watching all the seasons of Grey’s Anatomy earlier this year and I had to stop because there were too many gravely ill heart patients (and if any of you watch Grey’s, I have the same thing that Izzy’s boyfriend, Denny, had for his bad heart, but at the time that I watched it, I had NO idea what it was, much less that I’d be getting one!.) Anyway–I LURVE angst!!!
Oh, and I’m listening to Everything, Everything on audio while I do chores around the house.
Grey–I did get Playing with Monsters, but then I realized that I have to finish Seducing Destiny, which I’m having a very hard time getting through for some reason, and then Ristan’s book. I did get about 30 pages of Seducing Destiny read, but I kept putting it down, and then, more readily available books were right there in front of me, so….
But I AM going to read it! I’m really looking forward to both it and Ristan’s books!
Bev–the KA quote is Joe isn’t it? I always hated his pet name for Vi–‘buddy’. Every time I read it, I just substituted ‘baby’ in my head because ‘At Peace’ is one of my top 3 KA books and I couldn’t stand having an icky nickname!
Nay, I’m with you. At Peace is one of my fav KAs as well, but I had the same issue – didn’t like the ‘Buddy’ nickname either. I like your strategy of mentally substituting 🙂
I do that too!! I have to sub out both sweetheart and darling. If I came across buddy, I’d probably have to give up.
Ok guys, I am majorly disappointed here….I finished Bronze Horseman. Unfortunately, I did not like it. Holy way too wordy book Batman! That could have been like 400 less pages!! It was soooooooo boring and repetitive for me….
Oh well, at least I can say I have read it. Curious how my other Russia blankie fort occupants will feel.
P.S. Although most of it was very depressing (of course, hello? It was about the siege of Lenigrad) I didn’t cry (and I’m a major cry baby/wussbag) and only the very last chapter gave me the “feels” for like 2 seconds.
I am with you guys on stupid terms of endearments making me cringe. The whole “daddy” thing in Knight by KA made me GAG!! However, I swoon if it’s a southern accent saying “darlin'” (not to be confused with “darling”).
Actually, now that I think about it, it all depends on the H. If he’s likeable and super swoony he can get away with pretty much anything. One of my fave CRs (One Reckless Summer by Toni Blake) the H calls the H “pussycat” (stop rolling your eyes everyone!!) but it works in the context.
Happy birthday DG!!!!!
Still trying to catch up on this weeks comments and posts. Wow, once you get behind it’s hard to catch up.
Haven’t read any other comments on Black Swan Affair. What did those of you who read it think of it??
Ugh, going to grocery store and then have to clean my house because my parents are coming to visit. That’s going to mess with my reading time also!! Not that I don’t love my parents and enjoy their visits! 😉
I always liked Buddy, different unique. But know many had the same reaction. When he first calls her that he is not meaning for it to be a term of endearment. It’s when he first meets her and it’s a slightly stressful moment.
I’m not sure I want to say that KA said a soldier called her that at a bar one time and she just remembered it, lol.
Darling makes me think of Cary Grant and I have no problem with that.
Leslie, I don’t like anyone except Tania but I do like it so far.
Punk 57. *sighs* It was so good. Penelope Douglas is an awesome writer and this just reminds me why she’s an auto buy for me.
The only pet name I don’t like is mom, mommy, or mama. That’s just a nope for me. I actually DNF’d a book that did that.
R. The play is insanely good. I saw it first for my 17th birthday. The actor for phantom kinda sucked, (he whined!) and the Christine couldn’t hit a high note to save her life, but it was still good. About 10 years later, I took my mom, and the cast was superb. We were both crying and loving it. 🙂
The Royals series? Anyone read all three and recommend? Is it high school aged MC’s? Punk 57 is high school too, right? Just usually not my thing to read book where MC’s are in high school, unless it then follows them thru to later in life.
I’ve read the 1st 2 Cheryl. Yes it’s HS which is something I struggle with. Think Gossip Girl as in they pretty much *run* the school. Now, if you can see past that, it’s a fun angsty guilty pleasure that is a bit OTT soap opera-y in the best sense. I was un the mood for it so it was fun.
*in* the mood! And I was referring to The Royals. Haven’t read Punk.
Negative Nelly here – Sorry…
I did not like The Royals…well, I only did first one Paper Princess. However, a lot of people loved it. It was very YA, OTT rich people drama with not as much focus on the romance. However, the h was bada$$. But keep in mind I disliked Fallen Crest and this had same “feel” as that.
Maryse…EXACTLY. The writing style (to me) was just so matter-of-fact. I was addicted pretty much right away. I really liked how there were scenes from the present, the recent past, the past further back, and with her psychoanalyst, and how they were perfectly timed throughout the story.
Endearment terms…remember how Dex called Perry kiddo? That took some getting used to. It just made him seem too much like a dad, which was just creepy. Although once I fell for him it didn’t matter anymore. 😉
Cheryl, I read Black Swan Affair and gave it 3.5 stars. I was expecting angst and turmoil, and it didn’t really have much of either. It wasn’t bad, just a little mild for my taste. But it was fun enough to keep me reading!
Punk 57…OOOOOOH he is a meanie JERKFACE!!!! I mean, I get *why* he is behaving the way he is, but I also get why she is acting as she does. Not that I agree with her, I just understand with her being an insecure teenager and all. I’m only 30% in and really curious to see what’s in store considering how things are going right now.
I should probably clarify that in spite of my comment earlier, I still gave the 1st 2 Royals books 3 stars. Which for me is a lot, considering.
Yes Maryse! The writing style is my favorite part. I love how she compares her German classes and the German language to real life and her situation.
Amy,
https://www.thepolishaholic.com/2016/06/a-england-russian-soul-collection.html?m=1
I actually think I want the back one.
I really loved Black Swan Affair and I’m loving The Bronze Horseman, which is totally out of the box for me (historical romance). I’m only at 40% though so not sure if Leslie’s comments will come into play.
PULL ME CLOSE. Be still my heart. I won’t say anything else! But read it. You will not regret it.
Jean, I hope you LOVE Bronze Horseman….it seems like most do. I HATE when I don’t like a popular book!!! 🙁
Does that mean you won’t hate me when I finish Thoughtless?? LOL!
It is just taking so long to read it Leslie. And all these new releases are out and screaming my name! And I too only like Tania at this point.
Liz, YES! Loved, loved, loved Pull Me Close. Everyone has to read it!
Are you not liking Thoughtless R?!?!?!
I’m enjoying it, as in I haven’t felt the need to put it down, but I’m not loving it. The rainstorm scene made it jump the shark for me a bit. I have no intention to DNF because I’m curious how it will all wrap up.
Don’t worry R, no hating here! I will be sad if you don’t like Thoughtless…but will still like you! Xoxo
Sometimes I think these “older” series don’t seem as good reading them now, as opposed to when they first came out. Like we have overdosed on NA genre, so its hard to enjoy anymore.
That is exactly what I’ve been thinking! A lot of the issues I have are issues I know all of you have with other books. Maybe you (readers in general) didn’t have those issues back then (when this book came out). I loved 50 Shades, but I think I’d hate it now that my tastes have become more defined. I’d really be curious to go back and read some of the books I thought I loved way back when .
Thanks Cheryl!!! So far it has been an AWESOME reading weekend!
Started TRADED….and it is OH SO GOOD! Dirtbag hubs, broken wife and good guy/bad guy hottie…yes please!
Yeah sometimes when you go back, a book seems a bit dated and you wonder what you first saw in it it. Maybe our tastes develop and mature? (Like good wine LOL) Altho I have been on a bit of a HR reread fest lately, and funnily enough found I liked some of them more than before! What’s with that?
Leslie I usually don’t like high school books either, or bully books. I like some NAs, mainly college age. I could never get into Fallen Crest (I tried, guys, I really did). So I’ve kept away from the Royals.
I don’t mind most cutesy terms of endearment, in context of course. (except ‘buddy’ lol). Weirdly, I even didn’t mind ‘Daddy’ in Knight, even tho IRL it would seem really creepy. That book always felt a bit taboo for me. I liked but kept looking over my shoulder, thinking, hope no one’s looking. I shouldn’t be liking this. Weak, I know. It’s pretty tame compared to many others, but still.
Now I’m gonna look up One Reckless Summer 🙂
R. thanks for the info on Royals. Really don’t think it’s for me.
Amy, I agree wasn’t a high angst, typical love-triangle book. I think *for me* the emotional aspect heightened my anxiety on would she/wouldn’t she and ultimately what would be her decision. It also kept me guessing close to the end and about who the prologue was about and why it happened.
Liz and Jean, Pull Me Close is a standalone?
Cheryl, I don’t think so. I wouldn’t have picked it up if it wasn’t a BR, so I knew going in it wasn’t my thing and I think that helped.
I’m mixing things up a bit here.
FLS in lieu of FLT cause I need to share this first line:
“I was staring at a penis”. Roman Crazy by Alice Clayton
I like the sound of this one already! 😉
Leslie, your low angst list is up. Um…Maybe Someday & True Love Story? Lol.
Cheryl, yes it is a standalone
But i just realized its not out until Tuesday
One of those books that the less you know the better so I won’t say too much other than you should read it
Lisa…
I finally got Gemina in today’s mail. Are you still wanting to BR with me or did you give up on waiting and read it already? 🙂 If you still want to BR, let me know, otherwise I’m going to keep tackling these ARCs on my list. I got two new ones yesterday. I really have to stop requesting them. Some I get automatically, but when I specifically request one I feel honor bound to meet the suggested review due date.
Leslie–ROFL!!
Leslie- that’s great and it’s on my want to read list, but damn it’s pricey!!
Fabi, I got my hubby Illuminae based on your rec. He loves sci-fi. I think you answered this already, but old me forgot. Gemina is the sequel, but does it follow the same story as book #1?Didn’t want to read the blurb, in case I end up reading it.
Dang Cheryl. I hope your hubby likes YA romance. Illuminae is not along the lines of Isaac Asimov sci-fi. It’s along the lines of Divergent/Hunger Games. 🙁 I feel bad. I would never recommend Illuminae to a die hard sci-fi fan. Hope he enjoys it anyways. 🙂
Now to answer your question. I haven’t read Gemina yet but it’s supposed to be a direct sequel to Illuminae.
Question, did you buy the hard copy?
Hard copy yes and he loved the Hunger Games too, so he’ll be fine with this one too.
And yes he loves Isaac Asimov and Orson Scott Card too. He’s pretty much a sci-fi nerd and likes it all.
Phew! Thank goodness he reads YA. You had me worried. 😉
I’d love to see his book list. It sounds like he and I enjoy the same type of sci-fi books. Does your sin also read them or only enjoys the movies?
*son*. Sorry, I was trying to eat pizza and type at the same time.
Likely story.
*giggles at R* it is Saturday night….
It’s birthday eve!!!
Woohoo! Time to break out the vino!
I’m on my own tonight so I splurged on a Medoc Bordeaux. Not sure how that’s different from a normal Bordeaux, but here we are!
Everyone in my house is down for the night…including my pup! Love some quiet time!
*holds out empty glass to try a drop of R’s special ‘medoc’ bordeaux*
*pours big* It’s virtual so I have an endless supply! OMG soooo good!
Mmmmmm. Delish.
Cheryl, I just finished the black swan affair and I really loved it. I generally don’t books that contain cheating. But it was the first chapter I worried but I really enjoyed it from start to finish.
Love a glass R.
All my kids have exams at the moment so we are treading carefully around the house as everyone is stressed. So I feel your pain Cheryl.
Especially 3 girls hormones hormones.
Hi Fabi. Ive just started Royally Screwed by Emma Chase. How about you do your ARC reads and I’ll read this tgen we can BR Gemina??
Oh Cheryl, I didn’t even notice price of Roman Crazy….I get most of books from library. It’s tough to pay more than $2.99 for books with how many we all read. I will let you know how I like it.
Public Service Announcement: Where I live (central Massachusetts) besides my town library (as a MA resident) I have free access to Boston Public Library too!! You even apply on line. It’s awesome since Boston is huge city compared to mine, its a big selection AND they now have Hoopla which has TONS of audiobooks. ALL FREE BABY!! So……check out what options you have where you live!! 🙂
Lisa, I hope Royally Screwed is good…I’ve been looking forward to that one. It on my TBR-soon list with Black Swan Affair.
Lisa, my little town does sometimes surprise with books they do have and then I can check online all libraries around for either hard copy or electronic. Unfortunately, Roman Crazy is not available on those but I’ll have to take a look at bigger libraries around me.
I did start Royally Screwed last night too. So far the funny, lighthearted read I was looking for.
I was just looking at all of Maryse’s ‘What to read after…’ lists, and I saw ‘What to read after It Ends With Us’, and then I saw how many of you loved it and said it HAD to be read, so even though I’ve gotten many great recommendations this past week, I figure If there’s a whole list about what to read after it, it HAS to be great, so I’m finally reading ‘It Ends With Us’!
And, btw, I”m going in blind like Maryse suggested. I know absolutely NOTHING about it–I haven’t read the synopsis in months, so I’ve completely forgotten what it’s about. I’m so excited!!
Yay Nay!! Blind!!! And really avoid reviews. And give staus updates!!
Nay, when your done then listen to this.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ivpz-tBmDBw
So far so good! I’m just at 10%, but I just had to mention that laughing out loud at the Ellen Diaries entries! And I very rarely laugh out loud when I read books. Okay, back to it!
3 things
1. I’m about to start a simple stew for dinner.
2. I love Brie cheese. So good.
3. I want R to read Dumplin.
I just unpacked my new hardback copy of Gemina. It is gorgeous. They really hit the jackpot with the format of these books.
I’m tempted to get a hardcover copy of Punk 57 because I’m in love with that cover. I don’t know. I really don’t have any more room on my bookshelves. I kind of envy people who can put nick nacks on their shelves. Since moving to this smaller house, my books are cramped. They’re about to start overflowing into the main living areas. :-/
Fabi, you might like this.
https://bookriot.com/2016/07/27/shelf-shame-realities-readers-bookshelves/
lol Bev, mine aren’t quite that bad. But I completely agree that books are the most interesting and beautiful decorations in a home.
“All the books on these shelves represent the many hours I’ve spent in another place, as another person, learning something about myself and the world.
What could be more beautiful?”
Three things:
1. I just ate pizza
2. I want chocolate
3. Kinda bored but dont feel like reading so gonna re-watch Outlander season 2.
Three things:
1. I just got back from the park with little dude.
2. I really want a hard apple cider for the yummy taste.
3. I started The Man I Love and so far, it’s put downable.
Tessa, I’m starting The Man I Love next. We might end up in an accidental BR, but as fast as you read, you’ll likely be done with it before I start it.
Who knows. Right now I want virtual candy corn more.
Forget the virtual. I’ll take a real life bag of that awesomeness.
Lol but real ones won’t get me cute in game outfit!
Alright. I’m at 13%. If you all hadn’t raved about this, I’d DNF the thing. Male POV just sounds fake to me. And with all the love I know it’s me. He just sounds fluffy.
Ugly Love, that male pov sounded so off to me.
Haven’t tried this one yet though I have it and the next.
It’s just, he’s overly poetic for such a technically minded person.
Oh oh, I’m pretty picky about male POV
Three things:
1. I’m throwing a massive Halloween party in 6 days and I am NOT READY.
2. I’m excited to start Rainfall tonight.
3. bev is so freaking cute!
Tessa and Fabi,
The Man I Love starts out very slow. It’s for a reason. I almost put it down myself until someone told me, “just make it to 30%.” I did and it became my favorite book of all time.
Fabi, books overflowing throughout your house is the best kind of design! They can be stacked anywhere and everywhere and they’re easy to dust!
Tessa–TMIL was put-downable for me too–up until a certain point, and then it just went off the rails at about 30% (I thought it was really good before that point, but that’s when I thought it got REALLY good!) I ended up loving it, so try to stick with it and, hopefully, the same will happen for you!
OMG R! Great minds and all that! ROFL
I was worried about you Fabi because we like opposite H’s. Aside from Full Tilt’s Jonah, Erik is my top book boyfriend ever.
hahaha Nay! It’s like the universal Fish mantra: 30%! 30%!
That’s funny, we had a similar discussion about JR. No info dump in that book, she throws you right in. The beginning is confusing. I enjoyed right away, but many had to get past that first 100 pages or so.
Three things:
1. I just found out my girl sang at school assembly Friday and her teacher forgot to tell me so I missed it. There have been tears.
2. Im reading Royally Screwed and loving it. It completely absolved Miss Chase from her misstep in creating Stanton the Vile. Shudders.
3. The sun is shining and I’m off to meet my darling Scottish friend for coffee our favourite beach cafe.
Have a gorgeous day beautiful book girls. Mmmwah.
Oh. And Leslie.. who is evidently a pervy old man and Amy who we know is really a horny pre-teen named Andy. Have a great day!!
Lisa, Lisa, wait…did you my post about Gemina?
R I didn’t know we like opposite Hs. :-/
LOL R!
Three Things:
1) I’m at 43% in “It Ends With Us”.
2) I’m loving “It Ends With Us” (much funnier than I expected!)
3) I can’t wait to watch the season premiere of The Walking Dead tonight!!
I DNF-ed TMIL a long time ago… *hides from the massive peanut onslaught I’m sure is coming*, I didn’t know about the 30% thing.
Fabi, remember how you said you like your book men to be authentic and real? I like mine to be swoony and dreamy and bring me flowers and rub my feet. There is nothing authentic or real about that.
Oh ha! Ok. Although I have to admit my first hubby was like that. He would have made a good MC for you. Me? It didn’t work so well. lol
Oh gah! Grey…
R can I skip the first 30%? lol
It’s ok Grey. If you don’t know about the 30% I admit it’s hard to stick with it. But considering you like Marmy books, you should give it another shot!
Once I finished it I was mad at myself for rushing the first part and went back and read it all over again. Now I try to tell people ahead of time to take it slow and savor it, because the point will come where it nears the end and you won’t want it to.
Grey I could quote you word-for-word about TMIL. I wonder whether I got to 30%? Maybe I should go back and look. If I didn’t get that far, maybe it’ll encourage me to have a second try.
Fabi…don’t make me drive up there! I’m kind of busy this week! I totally understand if you want to squirrel it. I know it’s not your thing. I won’t be upset at all!
Fabi, that’s hilarious.
3 things…
1) watching The Voice from this past week with my middle kid. (Our mother/son bonding, we have the app and picked our team members and everything)
2) I’m real nervous for Nay…
3) I can’t remember the last time I read a book-book.
And by 30% I think technically it’s 31.5% so don’t get to 30.5 and call me a liar LOL!
Ha! No, don’t give me an out. Besides, I picked it out of your favorites. I could have picked another one.
Ill start it tomorrow. I’ll be done with my current arc by then. If I don’t jump into my Kindle and kick the MC where he’ll remember it.
What’s a book-book?
OK, it looks like I gave up TMIL at 17%. I wish I’d heard about the 31.5% thingie. I’m gonna put it back on the TBR and have another go. There’s so much lerv out there for it.
😮 lerve? Is it contagious?
I hope so 🙂
Three things:
1. Hubby and I are going out to lunch today with some old friends we haven’t seen in ages. Should be great. (Hey, it’s still morning here!)
2. I’m sad cos my cat killed a sparrow in the garden yesterday. I love my cat, but….. 🙁
3. I’m excited about lots of new book recs from the last few days, new series etc. Sweet……
I’m anxious to hear what you think Jan! Her style of writing is not for everyone, but I love it, obviously. I actually got tricked into reading it. My friend (you’ve probably seen on GR) Ashley picked it and then couldn’t get into it LOL. She squirreled and I kept going after some encouragement. Then I made her finish it! I had zero interest in it but it was her turn to pick!
I think I bought it after Maryse ‘ s review, but just haven’t gotten to it. Needs the right mood I guess.
Grey–Oh no! Is something bad coming soon?!
I’m listening to an interview with Jilly Cooper. Have any of you read her? I read one few years ago. I just remember it being a bit crazy sauce, lol.
DG happy happy birthday! I’ve been waiting all weekend to say that and then the day almost got away from me. Hope you’ve had a wonderful birthday.
No!!! Grey’s on crack. Right Grey?
Is DG on here tonight? Happy actual birthday!!
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand is on sale. Fantastic book!
50% OH NOOOOOOO!!!!
We’re here for you Nay!
I just realized…I’m ONLY at 50%! There’s still 50% MORE!!!
Three things:
1. Spent the day cleaning my house; well me and my iRobot- which I love!
2. My parents just arrived for a week long visit!
3. Started Royally Screwed and am loving it! Kinda reminds me of a Hallmark Channel movie I watched about a “prince” and commoner.
Cheryl, just bought thst book. Looks fun.
Oh, and put your mom in a head lock and give her forehead kisses.
Cheryl. It reminds me of Princess Mary of Denmark who was an Aussie commoner….met the Prince of Denmark (in a pub rumour has it) during the 2000 olympic games in Sydney and didnt know who he was.
Obviously they worked it out because she is now Danish royalty!!
Happy Birthday DG!!!!
Happy birthday DG!!!
“…and Amy who we know is really a horny pre-teen named Andy” <——- Hey!! Don't make me drop my drawers again to show I'm female! *grabs waistband of pajama bottoms*
HAPPY (actual) BIRTHDAY DG!!!!
Happy Birthday DG!!
Sounds good Lisa.
Still 10:30 here. So happy real date birthday DG!
36% and its good. I’m going to be honest. I don’t feel like, if I’d DNF’d I’d have missed anything. That said, I haven’t read the full repercussions yet. We’ll see.
Can someone please tell me why people on Twitter forget that the entire world doesn’t watch The Walking Dead at the same time??? Grrrrrrrrrr…
Amy no need to drop those daks gurrl!
yeah Lisa, Royally Screwed reminded me of Princess mary’s story too. Did you see the telemovie pf their romance? Quite nicely done.
I am dying laughing here. Lisa made me spit my food out last night when I read the comment about me and Amy and now I’m giggling to myself about how Maryse would not appreciate any vagina reveals on her blog! Our pants will remain firmly on!!
R, did some jerk face spoil Walking Dead for you? My hubs is a huge fan but I don’t watch…he yelled at me & my son to be quiet the minute it started. Hee hee
I have learned you HAVE to stay out of any internet/tv etc if you don’t want something big like that spoiled. My hubs was so scared to hear a spoiler for The Force Awakens when it came out that we fought the crowd and saw it opening weekend. Hee hee
R and Amy!!
I’m almost done Hausfrau and I love it. It’s such a moody and deep, often random and yet completely focused book. It’s so hard to explain, but the writing is exquisite and the story has me hooked.
You’d almost think to say it’s a slow-moving read, but it’s not. It just lulls you into its atmospheric feel.
And I keep wondering… what the heck is going to happen?!
She’s so self destructive and reckless, but like Amy… I can’t hate her, because there’s something so painful in her heart and her psyche.
When it is self destruction it is still hard for me to read, but more understandable. Especially when a person is hurt inside.
What I have a hard time with, in real life also, when they rain it down on others. Every one does it occasionally, but when it keeps happening. ….
Maryse! I totally agree! My heart broke for her. She was wrong and she knew she was wrong but it was too late. She was too far gone. I think some people read this thinking she’s just this selfish “b,” but she’s not at all. I don’t think a person can be selfish when there isn’t any “self” left to lose.
Leslie! YES!!!! Most of the time, people on social media wait at least 24 hours before posting spoilery things! Or they at least WARN you! THOUGHTLESS!! (hey! isn’t that a book?)
re: It Ends With Us
Finished it! Loved yet hated it! (those who read it know what I mean) The author’s notes at the end REALLY took me over the edge.
I can’t read Hausfrau (not my cuppa) but…..kudos to these authors who take these self destructive characters that we should hate and make us understand (and sometimes even fall in love with) them!!
Hats off to awesome authors!!!
Done. Sorry. 51% and I can’t anymore. I see the appeal but honestly I don’t feel angsty at all. I do see a lot of people liking it though. I just don’t like something that happened. It’s a huge pet peeve of mine.
Tessa–I think it’s hard to get angsty with characters that put you off from the very beginning. It happens to me quite a bit with books that others love, and it only takes one little thing to do it. For instance, like we were talking about the other day, the wrong pet name–if the romance book H calls the h ‘darling’ and he’s not European or maybe Aussie, he just totally becomes unsexy to me, and I find it very hard to finish the book unless it’s REALLY good. (Cowboys who say darlin’ are a different story and are totally acceptable!)
I agree. That’s exactly what happened to me with Thoughtless!
…yeep!…I hope it’s ok I popped by– a little birdie told me you all were chatting about my book and I couldn’t stand not scooting over to say hullo and thank you. 1) Thank you for reading it. 2) Thank you for loving Anna even as you can’t stand her. You aren’t alone in these feelings. It’s not everyone’s kind of book. I confess it wasn’t my kind until I wrote it. 3) Thank y’all for conversing about books in general! Do you know why writers write? THAT’s why. But many of you are writers too, yes? So you know. Blessings and love and love love love from Austin. -xoxoxo jill
ps– great blog–I will recommend it to my pals and my students!
So I’m reading Marriage Games now. It’s been a few years since I’ve read a BDSM book, so I’m looking forward to it!
@Nay ” (Cowboys who say darlin’ are a different story and are totally acceptable!)”
Amen!
Is it a trigger if you don’t like a particular story line? Like, if it ticks you off every time you read that type of plot? Or is it just taste?
I had my fill of cowboys in college. And yes that sounds so much worse than I intend…
R there’s no such thing as too much cowboy
Ohhhhhhh yes. Yes there is. I went to college in Rodeo country. Stephenville. Nothing like the romance novels that portray them!
I think that when certain things happen, I just suddenly don’t care. For instance, if they use hard drugs. Suddenly I’m like, nope.
ummm, R…I went there too. hahaha Besides, is there a college in Texas without cowboys?
I remember going to Vegas in my 20’s and desperately searching for a honky tonk to go out to.
I get it Tessa. I wanted to dnf my last read because of a “pet peeve”. I totally get it.
Spoilers suck!!!! If it’s accidental, I am hugely disappointed but definitely forgiving…but if someone spoils something intentionally or without any remorse then I want to put a pox on their damn house.
That being said, Walking Dead was rough to watch last night. I don’t know which was worse – watching *that character* die or seeing Rick break. Holy moly, Neegan is vile…but dang, that man plays him well.
Good lord, Maryse…you articulated it perfectly. I knew she had brought so much on herself with how she isolated herself and kept making destructive decisions, but I ached for her.
You know what else I thought was pretty brilliant? How the conversations between her and the one lover related to fires and such were tied seamlessly into the storyline at any given time.
I’m curious…where are you at in it?
I’m passed Charles…
OMG!!! I just realized Ms. Essbaum came by!! *blushes and waves to her* Would that be a little robin who told you about us? 😉
You’re right…this place, it’s fantabulous host, and the wonderful ladies here ARE great. 😀
***points finger at Amy*** wasn’t me!! 😉
Welcome JAE! Mostly readers on here though!
The name gives me away every time!
I will NEVER tell…. 😉
*gasp* YOU GUYS!??!! Did you just see? Of course you did ’cause you’re all having a conversation with her.
Welcome JAE!!!!!!!!!!
*squee* I’m LOVING. THIS. BOOK. Just sayin’ 😉
Hey, a few pretty good bargains (not sure how they are or if anyone has read them, but the prices are great):
From Knotting Hill With Love…Actually by Ali McNamara 2.99 normally 9.99)
Off the Page by Jodi Picoult 1.99 (normally 6.99)
With Malice by Eileen Cook 1.99 (normally 9.99) MINE!!
Goodnight, Beautiful 1.99 (normally 11.99) Again, MINE!!
Also, Veiled Innocence by Ella Frank is .99, and from what I remember it was a pretty good teacher-student book.
Well, just make sure you aren’t running around here with a little open baby bird mouth waiting for peanuts…the last time that happened, Maryse got more than she bargained for. 😛
OMG Amy what happened?
OMG that was autocorrect’s finest moment. Someone needs to find the actual link to that convo.
Ella Frank with a teacher student story at a bargain price? Thanks Amy!
Was that the “penis” autocorrect moment???
Ok, who feel like a giant jerk-face?? That would be ME!! *Opens mouth wide and promptly inserts foot*
I comment about how I can’t read a book and then the author appears on here!!!! Eeeeeekkk!
God I hope she saw the part where I was praising how awesome authors are!!!
*crawls to hide under rock and never come out*
Lol Leslie. I bet lots of writers lurk here! And what you said was spot on! This is a reader’s forum!
Yep, it was THAT autocorrect moment. 😳 Fabi obviously remembers it well, LOL!! I think Maryse ended up making it part of the “peanut list” post but I would have to double check.
Fabi…I don’t remember when I read VI but apparently I liked it enough to give it 4 stars. I’m such a sucker for teacher-student reads.
Leslie…I didn’t see anything negative in your post. You simply said it wasn’t your taste but were otherwise supportive of authors who can make us like the unlikeable. 😉
Hi guys! Miss me?
Happy belated birthday to DG!
I love when authors comment here….
I’m still in Russia at 71%!! Longest book! Bev, did you finish?
Thanks again Amy. I bought it. It sounds like a unique take on the teacher-student trope. It’s a longer novel, which I enjoy. And it’s Ella Frank. Yup, the only thing missing was my name in the title. Ha!
*waves at Jean* hope you’re wearing your parka
JEAN!! *tackle hugs Jean*
Bring us back some vodka, m’kay? 😀
*giggle* Fabi’s Veiled Innocence…
I really liked Veiled Innocence too. 4 stars *passes around shots of vodka “chilled” of course……oh how about lemondrop shots….yum!*
*groan* Amy! hahaha you are so bad (in a good way bad) lol
I always think of a trigger as something that triggers a bad reaction. A rape or abuse survivor could be triggered by scenes that feature a rape or ect.
Jean, not yet. I’m like 75/80 %
Yep bev, that’s what I think of triggers.
So, TBH, I really do love it, or should I say I love Tania. I don’t love Alexander (yet) and the rest of her family were blah! I know Leslie didn’t really like it, and I get that….it could be quite depressing at certain points, but it was wartime, so…… At this point, I just want to finish so I can move on…..I ESPECIALLY WANT TO READ EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING NEXT!!!!!
I’ll buddy-read it with you, Jean!!! I one-clicked it and I want to read it badly!
lol with that title Jean
I know! I was catching up on comments and commenting myself, and for whatever reason JAE’s comment hadn’t shown up until after I posted. That’s when I freaked a little. *snort*
Alright, Maryse…I’m picking up the mixings right now for Godiva chocolate martinis. Extra strong ones. Because…well, you’re past Charles. Tells me all I need to know. 😉
Charles. Le sigh. Pass me one of those martinis.
Oh yeah Fabi…..didn’t realize how that looked or sounded. I want to read EVERYTHING, but I want to read the book called “Everything, Everything”! LOL!
I really wish Hausfrau was not so much money or I’d be all over that bad boy! You guys…..*whine*….you are making me want to read it!
Chocolate martinis coming up shortly…
Chocolate martins!!! MY FAVORITE!!
Ugh, not chocolate martins……hahahahahaha!
Jean…it’s worth the price. Trust me. 😉
Amy’s famous last words….”trust me”……
Alright, so I started Never Let You Go and loving it! Just what I was looking for. Non HS angst. Nothing against that, just my mood was needing a different angst.
“Le sigh”. LOL R. That’s how I felt after reading Laura Florand and all those French hotties. I’ll have a chocolate martini too, please.
Tessa!!!! Did I miss it??? What did you think of Punk 57?!?
Jean, I will totally do a lemon drop with you!
Welcome to our new author friend peeping in… Is this a GreyMarmy book?
I’m in ARC land at the moment, but Nay said something about BDSM and my eyebrows went up a little…I haven’t read a good one of those in a while, so me thinks I need a good dark read…suggestions welcome!
Maryse, I won’t be able to start until tomorrow night probably, but yes, would love to buddy read!
Nay was talking about Marriage Games by CD Reiss right Grey? That looks really good, but it’s a 2 book series and 2nd book doesn’t come out until January.
I am seriously struggling to finish TBH……I totally get it now Leslie.
Drat… I’m calling a moratorium on all new series right now, if I can help it. I’ve got too many I’m waiting on.
(And then in the next breath…) The newest Max Monroe comes out tomorrow! But that doesn’t really count, right? Because I’d already started this series, LOL… I’m rationalizing… I know, it’s a sickness!
You can make it, Jean. I doubt I will finish it tonight. I really like it. *shrug*
But I am getting a bit antsy with my tbr looming. Because it’s a trilogy I doubt it will all tie up at the end.
One thing I can totally see them. Tania with her blond hair, freckles, and summer dresses.
Alexander in his fatigues, rifle, and cigarette. Especially, that way. I feel like it is a common image of the soldier.
Yes bev, it’s very easy to picture them. I’m at 78%. Wanted to finish tonight, but my eyes are already closing!
Oh shoot Gtey, I forgot about the new Max Monroe book tomorrow……Wes and Winnie…..so excited! Preppy comes out tomorrow too…..I think I have like 4 books preordered…..yes, feeling really antsy right now!
Good luck Jean & Bev…it was tough getting through Bronze Horseman. It wasn’t so much the depressing theme (as I was completely expecting that) but it was the repetition….it dragged on and on and on….it seriously could have been several hundred pages shorter. The last few chapters at least have some excitement, so I’m looking forward to what you guys think.
Isnt it great when authors pop in here (besides our beloved Robin who we want to keep).
I forget others are watching our chat….it feels like our intimate little group most of the time.
Hi Jean!! Im feeling you with TBH. I remember hitting the wall a bit with that book.
Wondering if I can squeeze the new Max Monroe in before my Gemina BR with Fabi??
When I’m done I will have to go back and read Maryse ‘ s review.
I’m not sure when I’ll read the others, but think I will at some point.
Yup Lisa, I think you can. Since mine is a hardback, I’m considering leaving for next weekend since I’m not going to haul it around with me.
Maryse has authors popping in all the time. 🙂
We also have several writers among us, R, Grey, Tessa…who am I missing?
Grey! I absolutely loved it. So much angst and the story wasn’t slow or something I’ve read before. Total 5 star.
Never Let You Go is so good. Who recommended this?
Jean, that’s why I got a hardcover of Hausfrau. The ebook was too much. I found one at Powells online and it was even autographed. I paid $10 for it, but I just saw on Amazon the “like new” used hardcovers are $4 shipping included, and there’s a “very good” for the same price on Prime.
Wow.
OMG.
I knew… and yet.
whoa.
I’m…
I need to get this book, in real format. Signed.
And I can just… stare at it,
R???
You have an autographed copy of this??????!!!!
P.S.
EASILY 5 stars for Hausfrau. EASILY.
Although not at all an easy read. But amazing nonetheless.
so real, so raw, and so honest… it hurts.
Thanks Lisa 🙂 <3
I'm terrified of TBH now! Russian Thorn Birds my a$$!
Yes 😀 And it was a total accident!! Brilliant isn’t it? I wish Amy would have hounded me harder!
Holy moly, I checked in at EXACTLY the right moment. Just in time for your reaction.
You’re feeling the full impact of that last line, right?
*slides chocolate martini over*
I’m telling you Amy…
I dunno what to tell you. That was just… wow.
I’m exhausted. Just so wrung out by this story, and yet, I wouldn’t have changed a single thing.
I have not one single complaint. Not one hiccup. It is… as it is. And it’s perfect.
That’s what I’m saying. When I finished it, I wrote her. I HAD TO. I’ve never done that! “Uh, excuse me…sorry to bother you, but I need to thank you for writing your book.” I’m so happy I did because she is the kindest person. I’m dying to read more by her. She writes poetry too. I need to look into that.
R.. She is one of the best writers, authors, storytellers, whatever you want to call it… that I have ever read in my entire life.
Poetic, beautiful and so ugly. It was truly amazing and … just real. I felt it.
I’m so thrilled to have both of you to share the Hausfrau love with. THRILLED!! Even though I know how you guys are feeling. 😕
I swear, when I read Hausfrau it felt like my heart imploded and my chest caved in. Simultaneously. All you have to do, Maryse, is look up my reactions from when I read it and you’ll see. 😉
I know, Maryse. I KNOW.
And just think…I had to go through all of that ALONE.
Now do you get the whole “holding my head and walking in circles” I was doing?
Amy… I am just SO SORRY I didn’t buddy read this one with you, nor did I actually read it when you promised me I NEEDED to. This was the one!
Darnit!!!!!
At least I read it… and I had both you AND R behind me. Thank goodness ’cause i needed it. I’m sorry Amy.
She NEEDS to write another novel…am I right?
I’m so happy you loved it!
Im having a go at NaNoWrMo this year. I probably wont get finished because I have a full week of work in November that comes with lots of marking and assessments. But Ive cheated a bit and got a few outlines down now. Exciting!!
Robin I snooped on your website tips for writers which was so helpful. Thank you!! Psst. Im a bit frightened of inappropriate use of gerunds!!
I wish you two could see me…I’m totally covering my mouth and squealing and kicking my feet and I’m so freaking giddy. I should feel guilty that it’s at your expense, but j just loved it SO FREAKING MUCH and I love hat you two loved it as well!!!
Oh, goodness. She kills herself in the last line doesn’t she. Like Anna Karinina or something.
Is there a train in this book?
You are all swoony over her death, aren’t you?
OMG my sweet friend…don’t be sorry. DON’T. You had to be ready and in the right mood to read it. That’s the only way we can give a book a fair shot.
I love you bunches and you read it now and that is ALL that matters! *squeezy hugs*
Me too Amy!!!!!
OMG Lisa! Yay! If you ever read one of my reviews and I say something like “the writing style wasn’t for me,” it’s probably because of stupid gerunds!
Bev, bev, bev…there is SO much that happens in this book which is heart-wrenching and gut-punching, and the ending is simply the culmination of everything which happened from the first page on. That’s about as articulate as my pea brain can get. 😉
*snort*
Sorry.
bev you crack me up!
*looks up Anna Karinina*
Ah… we learn something new every day. 😉
I just looked it up and read the New York Times review and her name really is Anna????
Warning warning warning
Spoiler spoiler spoiler spoiler
I was teasing, being a bit sarcastic. I didn’t know there was actual similarities between the books. I have been in Russia for a week and someone mentions trains…..what else am I gonna think? Oh my God. LMAO.
Train? What’s a train?
*looks up trains*
What’s Russia?
*looks up Russia*
What’s a death club.
*Looks up death club*
Wikipedia: Death Club
Amy
Maryse
R

.
the list is quite long
LOL!!!!!! You girls sure know how to make me laugh out loud!!!! :D!!!!
I’m not technically in the club am I? Oh god. I think maybe I am. What’s happening??!!
and no, I’m not going to join just because I’m reading TMIL
OMG bev!! LOL!!!!
Speaking of Suanne I just saw she super bumped up the release of An Exaltation of Larks!! It’s releasing in November instead of January! I’m dying to get my greedy little hands on that paperback.
Yup. There’s a picture of each of their faces….mugshot style….right next to the Wiki definition of Death Club. And they’re swooning, the weirdos!!
LOL Lisa!!!! 😛
You all are like Anne Shirley and Diana Berry acting out The Lady of Shallotte.
Your giddy and swoony over death scenes. You are in the death club.
Founded 2016 in a blanket fort in a house in Florida.
President: Maryse
Vice President:Amy
Enforcer:Manny the Manatee
Make that… 2015 (maybe even 2014) bev. We just didn’t have the name set in stone yet. LOL!!!!
That’s why you love us Maryse because we knew you needed that laugh as well as those hugs. 🙂
Gah Fabi!!! BOY DID I NEED THOSE LAUGHS AND HUGS!!!!
Lisa, lol. Now I’m going to be thinking of them as photos in exaggerated swoons like silent film actors.
But why do you assume every book that wrecks us is a death book?? There are plenty which have worked us over that didn’t have death in them…
Interesting. I was just looking at the reviews. So, there is a connection to that Anna and Madame Bovary. Slate and The Guardian bring up the differences in circumstances though. In the first Anna ‘ s case she was stuck. But a modern women would have more recourse and they didn’t understand why that wasn’t more a part of the book. Why do you guys think this Anna was so passive when she could potentially have more agency?
“…exaggerated swoons like silent film actors” <—– THAT is what our bright pink bedazzled fainting couch is for. 😉
She had no one. No home. No country even. Yes, she was married, but I’d say she didn’t even have him, not really. And she had children holding her in place. So even modern day, she was still stuck.
Bev…honestly? Without her passivity, which ultimately lead to her downward spiral, it wouldn’t have been the story that it is and wouldn’t have the impact that it does.
Maryse and R could probably explain it with a little more depth than that, but I feel that’s all I can say without giving away too much about the book. It really does have to be experienced.
…aaaaaaaand R *was* explaining it better as I typed out my comment. 😉
Based on the discussion you and R were having and now your discussion with Maryse. Then you add trains and sad women named Anna……*shrug*
I don’t feel like I explained it at all.
I see. I was curious cause the reviews said it was never explained why she couldn’t get a bank account or divorce. She wouldn’t have been shunned like a woman in previous centuries. Not having her husband……well as a single lady we can do it on oir own. 😉 So is her passivity more a depression?
I’m not going to read it, but was just curious. In regards to the reviews it seemed to be the common question.
*snort* You did, R. Better than me.
It’s more like her passivity led her to isolate herself which led to her internal struggles ad eventual decline, and she dealt with all of that through the affairs.
I can see some similarities between Anna K and Hausfrau, but to me they are minor and the two books shouldn’t be compared (as I know they are). Not by you, bev, but by reviewers. To compare them is to minimize Hausfrau, and that’s a travesty.
Okay…proof that not every book which obliterates our hearts is a death book. One book which I will not name by title (because spoilers) absolutely destroyed some of us and is a Marmy book, but there was NO death in it.
There. They exist. And this one? Not sayin’ either way. Because, again, spoilers. And spoilers suck.
And I’m cranky (not at any of you) and should probably just go to sleep. *snort*
But Amy, If you let everyone believe that the books are death books then think how surprised and happy they will be at the ending.
I fell in love With the Time Travelers Wife when I read it. Just so hard. I loved her writing, the premise, and her characters. I devoured it. I still feel bad for those who watched the movie instead, lol. There are scenes in that book I can still remember so clearly. Anyway, I wanted others to love it too. I gave it to my mom to read. Maybe a quarter of the way in, if that, she asked me why do you love this book? What is it about it? I don’t know that she finished it. I couldn’t believe she just couldn’t see it, it was all right there in her hands, lol. I’m pretty sure she felt that way about my love of Jane Eyre, too.
Anyway I guess I’m her here. I read some of the excerpts, just right over my head, so I was the “why” & “what” questions.
But bev, they may not read them if they think they are all death books and then they won’t get to experience them. 🙁
You explained that very well, bev. And I get it. I do. Sometimes we understand someone else’s love for a book, and other times we scratch our heads and wonder why we aren’t loving it as well.
And GAH! It would be so boring if we all agreed 100% of the time!! I love all of our similarities and differences. 😉
BEV!! I did not know Time Travelers Wife was THAT kind of book for you! I FLOVE that book! Absolutely FLUFFING FLOVE it. It is one of my re-read books…a bloody classic. Like Gatsby and Wuthering Heights and Time Travelers Wife! I still fall in love with Henry every time I read it. And I couldn’t even finish watching the movie. It was not good. Sometimes your favorite book need to stay your favorite book, and not become your least favorite movie.
MMMmm. I guess it qualifies as a death book too.
And Yes! I agree. Everyone I have recommended read this book has DNF and scratched their head over my love of it.
Thank goodness we don’t all love the same books….or there would be like two whole books in existence. A HEA and a death book!!
I know they have become synonymous.
So, to any newbies or anyone wondering a Marmy book does not equal a death club book. Death club actually came from somewhere else. I tease them about it because they are not afraid of them. In fact they love any book that has an uncertain ending.
Uncertain can mean more than just death. Any twist or mind f***. But also a hard won hea. Maybe just not a traditional hea.
Marmy book are just books that are extremely high angst and makes the reader feel extreme emotions. Sadness yes but also anxiety, fear, confusion, anger, and etc. Me Before You, Thoughtless, Jezebel, Hausfrau, Avoiding Commitment, Arsen, The Opportunist, and Rainfall all Marmy books.
I do have to say that I actually think the majority of those that comment and read this blog love a Marmy book and maybe a death club book too. I think us more conventional romance readers are in the minority here. Which is probably why I do not always understand you all.
I haven’t even tried to watch the movie. I haven’t re-read it either, though have been tempted. Well, I did re-read parts when I first read it.
Giggle…I love you guys. I am gonna read it next… After this ARC…and the Max Monroe. And shhh Fabi no telling tales. Haha!
I love the “death books”, I’m not sure which part I hold… Cuz I really like the dark ones, give me the twisty pretzely ones (I read LoA remember LOL!) But yeah…
And bwahaha the autocorrect that will live on in infamy forever! You guys are awesome!
So… I’m thinking about Nano… WTF, I should be committed…
ummm, I read LoA – all of them! Those are just plain dark. Ok, I’ll admit they are the darkest of dark. But I don’t think they’re anything like the angsty, heart-shattering, emotional reads of the Death Club.
Lol Just don’t add me to the death club. Once in a blue moon I’ll read one, but I normally avoid them. Now Mary angsty… Sure. That’s why I haven’t read Bound yet. Never Let You Go is all angsty which I need right now.
Lisa, if you do NANOWRIMO, friend me. 🙂 Also, don’t worry about grammar as you write. That’s what editing is for.
Also, I’m not a writer. I’m still trying to figure out how I write. I’ve yet to write a story that I like.
Tessa, Never Let You Go. Author?
1. Y’all hilarious talking to each other.
2. It totally just happened accidentally that her name was Anna. Hand to god. It’s just… her name, right? But the collective unconscious would say ‘of course that’s her name” and that’s good too. Anna B–> Emma Bovary –I had MB in mind over AK. But there’s no way to invoke one without the other. MB tho because of the foreign-ness.
3. Switzerland is beautiful but thank you Jesus I don’t live there now. I remarried and live in Texas with a nice Taiwanese boy. Which I highly recommend.
4. Y’all adorable. 🙂
Sorry Jean. Katy Regnery
Ahhhh that’s what I was hoping Tessa! I loved that book and the Vixen and the Vet from the same series was also great!
Tessa, I didn’t realize you were reading *that* Never Let You Go! I also loved that book!!
🙂 I’m glad you both did. It’s been a great roller coaster.
Saw something funny on Netflix last night. I was watching a new US political drama (no that wasn’t the funny thing!) called Designated Survivor. Ep 2 or 3 I think? Anyway, the new president’s young daughter has a teddy she is cuddling and I swear IT’S MANNY THE MANATEE. He’s a TV star now! (Has anyone else noticed?)
Jan.
No. WAY.
Way??
Way!
Hey! Ms. Essbaum is playing 3 things and didn’t even know it. Sort of…
LOL SHE IS!!!!
Okay, now my turn!
3 things:
1.) I’m writing my Hausfrau review and I’m typing like a mad scientist!
2.) I was just reminiscing on how much fun we had last night (or in the wee hours of this morning) chatting about this book.
3.) I’m not ready to move on, just yet.
Okay who’s next?
1. I’m super sleepy.
2. Hey, I’m adorable.
3. I’m adorably sleepy.
*snort*
bev. I think you are adorable too!!! You crack me up. And you’re way too astute for your own good! 😛
1. I’ve been on the haunted trail since 9am and I look like I survived a slasher flick weaving through cedar trees and dead branches all day.
2. I’m having wine for dinner.
3. I can’t stop singing Cake by the Ocean.
Totally adorbs bev…
Back at you.;)
I keep singing Heroes the Wall flowers cover.
OMG I think Jan’s right!

It’s kind of blurry but looks suspiciously like our little guy!!
Never Let Me Go…that one is being moved back up on my list after Tessa’s comments. Angsty? Heck. Yeah.
NaNo…kudos to you ladies who participate!!! I really do admire you guys. 😉
I’m cracking up over JAE not even realizing she’s playing 3 (+1) things!
My three things:
1. I love Maryse’s three things. For obvious reasons. *snort*
2. Bev IS adorable.
3. I’m jealous of R’s dinner.
Yep, my three things are not my own tonight and I don’t care. 😛
Yeh Amy. You get a much better look at Manny during the actual episode. I tell you, it’s him!
Me! Me!
1. I finished Never Let You Go and now I’m in a book fog, which is good because the tablet is low on battery.
2. I started The Bound by KA Linde anyway and read the first chapter, then decided to reread the first book and the second book’s first chapter seriously is going to skew the reread of the first, cause now, I know THINGS!
3. I’m tired but have found myself oddly fascinated by this show about hypothetical extra terrestrials and how they could get here, and why they would be here.
Three things:
1. Im on the tram on my way home from an OT conference.
2. I have art studio time tonight and I cannot wait to get painting
3. Im copying Rs dinner tonight.
I just saw these posted on a gift guide. I love this quote and how cute are these?

1 thing.
1. R is regretting R’s dinner last night…
R, your so funny.
Ok, I shouldn’t ask because I still have not finished my last BR, and I am the one liking the book. I’m sorry Leslie, I fell asleep at 8 last night.
But does anyone want to do one next month? I have a book I’ve been wanting to read for forever and never get to and it would be the push I need. It’s An Untamed State by Roxane Gay.
O.o Bev. I don’t know if I could read that. It seems super tragic.
No more BRs of gazillion page, tragic books for this gal!! *coughs* Bronze Horseman
But if anyone wants BR something romantic, sexy and fun…
I don’t think it’s a gazillion pages.
Only 386 pages. That’s not long at all.
It got rave reviews.
Dear bev.
LOOK!!!

No, no sarcasm. 386 is an average page count.
It’s pretty pricy, bev 🙁
Tessa, I was talking about about Bronze Horseman. 810 pages = gazillion. Hee hee
What book were you talking about?
Sherlock!!!!!
Dear Amy, Look Sherlock will return!
One of these days I’m going to shock your panties right off of you when I pop in here and tell you I watched it.
*nods head*
Yep. It’s happening.
Uh-huh.
Big talking, me thinks.
I’m pretty sure any responses I make to “shock” & “panties” is going to be turned into something dirty, lol.
Well… Sherlock DOES have his intrigue… 😉
Leslie – An Untamed State by Roxane Gay. That’s what Bev suggested. It looks so sad.
Yes, Amy shocking my panties off is intriguing. :/
Tessa, I think it will be a hard read. Many liked the heroine which is always a draw for me.
Jan, yeah. I bought it when it was on sale, like last year. But, at least here, it got a ton of buzz and Roxane Gay still does for her books, opinion pieces, & twitter, so I’d check your library. Maybe they have it if your interested.
Yeah, the library is always worth a look for those expensive ones. Sometimes I get lucky. (At the library I mean). No wait. That sounds even dirtier. You know what I mean LOL.
wow Jan :-O
I’ve been around the block a time or ten but I have to admit I never dared those quiet libraries.
I wish I got lucky at my library!! 😉
Actually, we are starting to see more male librarians these days, aren’t we? Hot, nerdy, thick-framed black glasses, loves literature….. oh yeh, a girl can dream 😉
omg that so reminds me of that Pinterest feed, sexy men reading books, or something like that. I remember looking through some pictures a while back.
*goes to check out pinterest*
I wish I could remember what it was called. Where is Bev’s memory when we need it? I only remember they were photographs of random hot guys reading books…on the subway, train, cofee shop, park, etc. Just random pictures taken and posted by anyone catching sight of a hot guy reading in public.
I should have bookmarked it. ha! pun and all
Hotdudesreading on Instagram…and men.who.read on Instagram!!
Not that I look at them ALL day!!!
Thanks for clarifying Tessa. I thought you were crazy saying Bronze Horseman wasnt a long book.
An Untamed State def looks interesting, but I almost never read a non-romance book.
I love getting “lucky” at the library. *snort* I feel like I hit the lottery when a book I can’t afford is available for free!! Not to mention free audiobooks!! Love that!!
