<— *happy wiggle* (or was that a tremor?). LOL!!! HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY, and what a list this is!! We’re starting a buddy-read for one of today’s new releases, but if that one doesn’t tickle your fancy (’cause it’s a scary one, that one to the left!!!) I have a TON more awesome looking ones, below (Jasinda Wilder’s dark brand of steam and Katie Ashley’s bikers, anyone??!! Darynda Jones, Lora Leigh and Nalini Singh, too!) They are on here!
UPDATE: WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 7th 2015 —> A FEW SUPER-SALE FINDS!!
- Wrong by Jana Aston <— HER CRUSH-WORTHY CUSTOMER ENDS UP BEING HER DOCTOR ALERT!!! Just released… and it sounds PERFECT for us! “I can’t stop fantasizing about one of the customers at the coffee shop I work at between classes. It’s just a harmless crush, right? It’s not like I ever see this guy outside of the coffee shop. It’s not like I’m going to see him while attempting to get birth control at the student clinic. While wearing a paper gown. While sitting on an exam table. Because he’s the doctor. Shoot. Me.” <— HAHAHAHA!!!! 😛 I LOVE IT!
- Love To Hate You (Love/Hate Book 2) by Isabelle Richards <— JUST RELEASED!!! I don’t want to read the blurb ’cause I think it’s a continuation of book #1
Darkest Minds, The (The Darkest Minds series Book 1) by Alexandra Bracken <— DYSTOPIAN fabi and K.A. LINDE FAVORITE ALERT! DYSTOPIAN and a FAVORITE amongst a few lists right here! In fact, fabi and author K.A. Linde list it as a favorite so this is a definite one-clicker!!!! 😀 Tasha says: “…I’m hooked on The Darkest Minds as per K.A Linde’s rec from your post yesterday. 43% in and so far love it!”
- Don’t Make Me Beautiful by Elle Casey <— JEAN LOVED IT ALERT!!! it’s another that set many in a book-frenzy! In fact our very own Jean flipped out over it! “I didn’t know where to post this comment, but wanted you to know I read Don’t Make Me Beautiful by Elle Casey in one day! Could not put it down! Was looking for something different from OUR normal reads and this definitely took me there…….I really think you will like it!! PLEASE PLEASE READ IT SO I CAN GET YOUR TAKE ON IT!”
The Sect by Courtney Lane <— PSYCH THRILLER ALERT!! Kat found us this one, and asks: “Has anyone read this? It’s on sale debating if I should one click” SOUNDS SO GOOD! OMG a blurb that makes me squirrely! “The streets provided her with the education she could’ve never earned from the prestigious university she attended. Regrettably, the term ‘educated fool’ becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Due to meeting a man with whom she shares a captivating chemistry with, her judgement is clouded, resulting in a fateful decision. The consequence of trusting the prepossessing stranger results in her being stolen away to a place unknown. Her deceptive new surroundings are just as beautiful as the people who reside there. She discovers that it’s a place where the culture of sex without limits or morals is their religion.“
- Suite 269 by Christine Zolendz <— Sunny recommends this new release! “I finished this gem earlier today and absolutely loved it! It was released yesterday and is on sale until tomorrow evening where it will go up to its regular price. It was a great story with just enough emotion to keep you from putting it down. Highly recommended.”
A few standout-blurbs for me? Mine (her bossy, controlling bodyguard!!), Born Savages (This sounds like drama-angsty fun!! A famous family trying to rebuild their image with a reality show… but it’s the love interest part of the blurb that gave me the jolt!), Copygirl (this one just sounds like reading-fun perfection!! The blurb alone is witty as heck and TOTALLY has me… and the last part: “5) Most importantly, don’t ever, under any circumstances, be a CopyGirl. Trust me. I know…”) <— I gotta know more!!! Oh and!! The Beauty of Lies (he’s a blogger that outs people… and she’s trying to get him to leave her alone. Thing is… she doesn’t realize that he’s her neighbor). FUN!! Plus a bunch more. 😀
About our buddy-read? I’m so terrified and excited for The House!!! Plus it’s by one (or I should say “two”) queens of romances (Christina Lauren) so I have a feeling even though it’s listed as “horror”, that it will still have that writing “feel” that we love so much. So… that said, this is what I’ll be reading today, AND!! We’ve started a buddy read, so anyone that wants to read it with us, we’re virtually holding hands, and snuggling under a HUGE protective blankie fort. And we’re leaving the lights on. I’m not that brave.
This was us… last night anxiously awaiting our highly anticipated book…
Jean: The House comes out that day. Aren’t we buddy reading that?
Cheryl: The blurb for The House….I’ll read it with you Amy & Maryse!!
Amy: I’m going to channel Fabi for this…squeeeeeeeee meeeeee!!!! The House comes out tomorrow!!!! Or maybe tonight if we’re lucky…please let us be lucky.
Lee: I am IN for The House even though it clearly says ”Don’t read it at home alone. Or at night. Or at all, if you scare easy. You’ve been warned!” and I check on every single one of them!!!! eeeeeeep!!!
Maryse: Yikes!! I AM SO SCARED which just makes me even more excited!!! I may just make a video. Tee hee!!!!!!!
Cheryl: I’ll be ready to buddy read The House tomorrow. Eeep- I’m scared!!
Maryse: It’s going to be fun!! NO CHICKENING OUT!!!! Send me your videos while you read if you want and I’ll add them in!!! LET’S!!!
Lee: Video?? Of me hiding under my bed covers while peeking through my fingers to read??? BAHAHAHAHA !!! I wanna chicken out so bad!!! but I wanna read it so bad at the same time.. O.o
Maryse: Yep!! THAT video. Exactly!!
!! DO IT!!!
bev: Hmmm. Talk on other post of how scary The House may be. Maryse wants us to video……not going to happen.
Jody: The House is available on amazon Australia!!! Yay!!
Lee: Make room Jody!!! I am moving to Australia… just so I can get my hands on it…
arghhh it’s 3 AM here, where’s my copy??? Come ON, Amazon!!
Maryse: Jody I’m JEALOUS!!!!!! *gasp* Let’s go to Jody’s blanket fort, you guys!!! It’s like a time machine in there!
Jody: Come on over Maryse. I know nothing is getting done now I have started… lol
Amy: One big blankie fort for us to read The House together in??? Woo-hoo!!!! Now I just need to find the perfect drink for us… Make a video, you say…um, do you know how to edit, like bleeping out words? Because I tend to have a *ahem* colorful vocabulary when I get worked up over stuff.
Niki: I need to wait until you read The House Maryse….. I usually read at night and live alone so I don’t want to freak myself out
So I will wait for the reviews!!!
See?? We’re a big group already… join us! You won’t be alone. Join us!! *creepy voice* Joiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnn uuuusssssssssssss….. Ooooooh.
I just creeped myself out!!! Oh and for that “The House” reactions video? *If* you just so happen to record your reactions to this one and want me to post them, just message me at the “contact” link above, and I’ll send you my email address to attach the file to.
Okay and for those that are a no-go on today’s buddy-read fright fest, there are a TON more to choose from below, and I highlighted a bunch that I think we just might enjoy big time! 😀
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything! )
AUDIOBOOK LOVERS
For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free ebooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).
Brisé by Leigh Ann Lunsford <— HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Nicolle recommends it! “I just read one that not many people are talking about, but was REALLY good. It’s Brise by Leigh Ann Lunsford. I cried alot. Beware, it’s really angsty and sometimes you want to throw your reading device. However, it was one of my best reads of 2015. Total roller coaster ride and book hangover! I read Sea of Tranquility a long time ago when first released and loved it. Reading all of these comments reminded me of another book I read around the same time and highly recommend. I probably loved it cos its set in Australia near Byron Bay….but Id love some of you to read it too…..heartbreaking and beautiful with an awesome twist. And one of those books that you think back about after you’ve finished.”
- Gold (All That Glitters Book 2) by K.A. Linde <— SO MANY LOVING THIS GOLD-DIGGER SERIES!!! Lisa M LOVES these! “Diamonds & Gold by KA Linde. Could not put any of these down!! My hubby says I have a problem I`m addicted to reading!!”

- Bastard by J L Perry <— ANGRY MEAN NEIGHBOR (BULLY?) ALERT! “When Carter Reynolds moves in next door, my life takes a turn for the worse. He’s gorgeous, sinfully hot, but that’s where my compliments end. He seems hell-bent on making my life miserable. He acts tough, but when I look into his eyes I don’t see it. I see hurt and pain. To me, he seems lost.” has tons of great reviews!
PARANORMAL/FANTASY/SCI-FI/DYSTOPIAN
- The House by Christina Lauren <— BUDDY-READ ALERT!!! I’m starting THIS ONE as soon as it goes live!!!
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell <— RAINBOW ROWELL ALERT!!!!! Ashley found us this one!!! She says: “Hey Maryse! Rainbow Rowell has a new book out today too – “Carry On” it goes with her novel ‘FanGirl’ (but they don’t have to be read together) and is about a FanFic of a Harry Potter-eqsue famous book series. Hard to describe (my description makes the book sound unbelievably awful) but it’s really good.” and sure enough I check out the blurb and I’m all… whaaaaaa? But I found this part so I’ll quote it. 😀 “Carry On – The Rise and Fall of Simon Snow is a ghost story, a love story and a mystery. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story – but far, far more monsters.”

MARYSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU’RE EARLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT LIST…………WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO REYES COME TO MOMMA….
Ok… Bossy Mcalphapants alert…OMG that was hysterical…I am still giggling!!! Please let me know about The House…it sounds sooooo good. Awesome list once again. Thanks Maryse!
I loved “Irresistibly Yours” by Lauren Layne. we got to see all of our favorites from the Sex, Love & Stilletto’s series and am looking forward to the next two books in the series!
I just found out that Melanie Harlow has released a new book “Some Sort of Happy (Skylar & Sebastian)”. There is a fun Easter egg for fans of “Frenched” and I was impressed with how she really understood and protrayed the Hero’s disorder. The next book in the series “Some Sort of Crazy (Nathalie & Miles)” is also up for pre-order.
Darynda ….. Darynda Jones, not Drained!!!
LOL Sharon!!!!
I know! Stupid auto-correct!!!!!
It tried to change “Jasinda” on me, too!! 😛
Hey Maryse! Rainbow Rowell has a new book out today too – “Carry On” it goes with her novel ‘FanGirl’ (but they don’t have to be read together) and is about a FanFic of a Harry Potter-eqsue famous book series. Hard to describe (my description makes the book sound unbelievably awful) but it’s really good.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1250049555?keywords=carry%20on%20rainbow%20rowell&qid=1444143532&ref_=sr_1_1&s=books&sr=1-1
Oh thank you SO much Ashley for that find. I’m posting it!!!! 😀
So I just finished The House….
Hmmmmmm….
Great list! Oh no Lee, I’m not sure how to take that reaction. I’m only at 15% of the House. I was happy to get Brise for that great sale price…been wanting that one!
Well well well! This was a surprise! Twilight 10th year anniversary book…
https://www.amazon.com/Twilight-Tenth-Anniversary-Life-Death-ebook/dp/B0112T516K/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1444151788&sr=1-1
I don’t wanna say anything for now Jean.. so “hmmm” will have to be it…*sorry*
I will just keep my mouth firmly shut and wait for everyone’s reaction.
Marit and Ela!!! I AM early!! I was too excited to get reading, so I got a head-start. 😉
LOL Theresa!!! I couldn’t help myself!!! *snort* 😛
Oh thank you Katherine!!! I love book recommendations. *hug*
OMG the original Twilight has a 10th anniversary edition and they say 0ver 400 pages of new content. Is it a new story??!!!!!!
And that back cover/book title KILLS ME I WANT IT SO BAD!!!!!
Maryse, I read there is a “character reversal”, not sure what that means, I’m assuming Bella is the vampire and Edward the human?????
https://www.ew.com/article/2015/10/06/stephenie-meyer-swaps-twilight-leads-genders-10th-anniversary-bonus-story
I just came across a book and since I’ve been really wanting a post apocalyptic thriller……it’s called Dead Reckoning by Tom Wright…..looks intriguing and on sale for limited time for at 99 cents! Anyone ever read it? Not sure if there is any romance but still sounds good to me. Michelle, this one may be for you!
Starting The House. Worried about Lee’s hmmm comment.
Copygirl sounds good, but $9.99. Think I’ll wait on that one.
I did look at Melanie Harlow’s newest release. Definitely seems more serious than her other books.
Irresistibly Your’s sounds good, but do I need to have read the previous series??
Jean, Brise- can’t say I’ve heard anything about that one.
Ok, let me just say, The House is a book for teens?? Did I miss that somewhere??
Cheryl, I know that threw me too……didn’t realize it was YA. Wondering how Maryse is liking it. Maryse? I’m only at 20%. Hope to finish tonight.
Yes, heard lots of great things about Brise! Was waiting for a sale!
Read and finished Secret by Jude Devereax. I really like her, but man. The “mystery” was so horribly written, it made me wonder, why do I care? *sighs* Still love the author, just not THAT book. Ironically without the mystery, it would have been awesome. The characters and the ability to grow and learn were there, but the mystery just overshadowed the greatness. *sniff*
Brighter Than the Sun will be mine. I may have to borrow Manny for it. Learning to Fall looks really good; it looks like potential angst and/or humor. 🙂 Dangerously Broken looks good but GAH, not at that price!
Yes!!! That’s part of my “hmmm” comment Cheryl.. it’s YA!
I did mention to Maryse yesterday that Amazon listed it under ” Teens”, but we both ended up agreeing that based on the blurb and sounded like a married /older couple… that’s what we get for assuming.. LOL
… are you scared yet ?? I was not -_- and I was really looking forward to read while peeking through my fingers :/
*going back to re-read The House blurb*
hrmm… yeah I can see where I was confused.
‘Kay back to it…
So that means, Lee… you HAVE TO buddy-read bird box with us!!!! THAT is the scary one.
MARYSEEEEEEEEE… have you started yet??? if yes, how is it going?
Bird Box?? * gulp* errrrrr?? I shall have a convo with my bed covers first
Just finished Beware…totally understand Ela’s screaming in shouty caps. WTF!!!
now I don’t know if I want to start The house…or the 2nd Beware…
Whoa…haven’t started and Lee finished already???
I did not know Carry On was out already!!!! The heroine in Fangirl was a Fangirl of a Harry Potter type books series. She was such a fan she wrote fanfic of its main characters. The characters in Carry On. 😛
Lee, that’s exactly what I thought based on the blurb. Disappointing…
Grey, I would say for now The House can wait. Jump right into Beware 2! I’m at 25% of the House and its just not what I thought it would be….not scared and I’m in for the buddy read of BB because I want to be scared!
I know… I’m kind of there too, you guys. It’s good and kind of sweet and the “House” has a sweet feel to it right now, but I definitely was looking for som fear factor and Bird Box is calling me HARD.
Where’s Amy at?
Wait. Before I start is everyone jumping ship to Bird Box?
Er…umm.. you mean start Bird Box now? Like… at night? When it will be hours and hours before daylight again?
*shudders*
I want to SO bad, but I’m trying to use my logic… ’cause I KNOW that one will freak me out BAD. Especially at night.
The House is so far, not scary…
So it will be a daylight buddy read. Like a 8 am on a Saturday type read. 🙂
BUT!!!!
I’m at a super-creepy part of The House right now…
Oh I thought it was sweet at first… not so sure now.
Eeeeep!
Maybe whatever the Bird Box is it got….*whispers* Amy.
Ooh.
So The House is not doing it for anyone? I just started on Claimed. I need something just fun and not too serious. Then back to my tbr since I’ve been on a bad streak of buying expensive new releases 🙁
Jean, Dead Reckoning looks interesting and it’s KU so I will check it out. I want to read Brise too. Bought it a while back on sale and I keep hearing good things.
Curious about the Twilight revamp…
Me too Michelle. Even worse, I’ve been buying and not reading them. I’m starting Claimed right now too.
I’m actually liking The House. The creepy just kicked in…
I’ll keep coming back with updates.
And yes bev… I will start Bird Box in the morning (in a day or so or Saturday) so I can have all the safety of daylight. LOL!!!
But I want to buddy-read that one next…
Talk about an expensive read- The House. I hate to read a book that I am not enjoying, because I’m hoping it will get better. BUT then Maryse made the comment that it is now super-creepy and not so nice now. Oh, what to do. I was a couple minutes away from DNF. I still can’t wrap my brain around it is not a “older” couple but teenagers.
Still need to finish Beware. Put it aside while I read Ms. Manwhore- was a sexy, lovey-dovey extended epilogue. No angst, just pure good times. 😉
That’s a HUGE list!
I think to celebrate this Halloween month, I might try to go back to my TBR and finally finish the Experiment in Terror seres. I have that last book to read. Not sure why I didn’t do it earlier. The one before that was one i put down a lot, maybe that’s why. So…. is it worth it to go and close the chapter on Dex and Perry and read their final book?
I should know not to read before ready for work, lol. All I want to do is stay here reading & now Ill be running around not to be late.
Only 12% in The House. Um, I like it so far. I like her personality, the banter, and the bit about the house. But also a bit rough, maybe? Like we just jumped right in. Not sure how to say what I mean.
Because house talk. I loved the house in Discovery of Witches.
SEE GREY SEES MY SHOUTY CAPITALS REASONING, JUST WAIT UNTIL YOU GET TO THE SEQUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am seeing A LOT of negative reviews for the new Twilight reversal book and I’m not so sure I want to ruin my original Twilight experience, which I loved and it was what got me reading again….
Okay I just added four more super-finds at the top of this list….
2 new releases (one that sounds like so much fun) and TWO 0.99 cent favorites of our very own readers right here (Jean and fabi).
I just finished ” BOSSY McALPHAPANTS”
Annnnnnndddd????
I must get Bastard! That sounds just right! I’m reading another bully type book, Devil Behind Me by Evangelene. It has my attention, that’s for sure. Not as good as Bully, of course; that’s the pentacle. The extreme angst and tummy twists aren’t as strong as I like, but still good. Ironically, I can tell there would be no story if the heroine would just sit down and talk to him.
Isn’t that almost always the case, though? Even in real life. Tee hee!! 😛
Oh, definitely. 😀 That’s what makes it feel real. I, however, feel bad for the “bully” because he’s clueless.
Looks good Tessa! Are you planning on reading the entire series? I saw the first is a cliffhanger…
It was. So now I’m reading book two, The Husband Beside Me. I’m really loving it.
Great! Thanks for the mention of these!
I have been reading Outlander for 3 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I AM NO WHERE CLOSE TO THE END!
LOL .. that’s what I get from commenting via phone… my posts comes up wonky …so le’ts rewind LOL
I just finished ” BOSSY McALPHAPANTS” and lemme tell ya annoying little alpha that he is..! LOL..
Mini review? It was a good read, I had fun.. I wish we had a little more action- action than the bed action, and the beginning was just a BAAM.. we are already in the middle of a situation ..without a really throughout explanation in what really is happening/happened … we were just going to a safe “house” and the characters knew it each other .. and I was like “Whaaaaaa!!???” a little searching AFTER finishing the book.. I found it’s part of a series, but it’s listed as a series, every single book has been published as standalone.. ( it kinda of annoyed me) so if you wanna read it.. I advise you to read Only, Mercy and Taken.. especially the last one because those characters are the ones who appear on Mine and they play kind of a “major” rule.. and jealousy and I was just “who are you people” but it was good… but slighly confusing
but it’s NOT listed as a series**
I am starting Wrong aka ” CRUSH-WORTHY CUSTOMER ENDS UP BEING HER DOCTOR ” right now…
I just finished The House and am writing the review as we speak!! Its so fun that so many of us are “feed backing” on books from this very list!!
😀
Alright is it just me pt does it seem like everyone has been very quiet lately?
I used to get off work and my inbox looked crazy and now like 4 comments, lol.
You guys…YOU GUYS!!!!! *waves at everyone* I’ve missed y’all!! I have had total chaos around here yesterday and today which has kept me from reading (*ducks from The House peanuts*) and even checking in here…I started to skim the list up there yesterday and then stupid real life got in the way so I couldn’t even finish doing THAT. *huffs* Stupid real life.
But seriously, I must be addicted to y’all ’cause I’m starting to get anxiety when I can’t check in here and catch up with everyone. Kidding…well, kinda kidding. 😉
Before I get caught up on the list and the comments, anyone feel like giving a needy girl a big hug? Come on…please??? Obviously I am not above begging right now. 😛
Busy day…didn’t get to read any yet. Still reading The House. I like the new one’s-Don’t Make me Beautiful, Suite 269, and especially Wrong.
*Waves to Amy from across room*
*pushes Maryse, Fabi, Jean, then Tessa her way*
*waves again*
Bev! *gasp* That hurts. 🙁
Fine then, I’m just gonna go chat with Cheryl. Wait…where’d you go, Cheryl??
*sigh*
Sorry Amy. Just a bad hugger. I make up for it by being a good listener. I’m more the one people vent to than go to for hugs.
*biiiiiiiiiiiig squeeeeeeeeeezy hug* 😀
Hi Amy!!!!!!!!
That’s okay, Bev…I still luffs ya. 😉
and bev pushes!!! LOL!!! 😛
Maryse!!!!!! *squeeeeeeezes back*
Soooooooo…Bird Box is next?
*gives a hug then huggles* Chaotic day, huh? Been there.
I have the bird box on hold at the library. I can go tomorrow and get it then, Yeah! I can join. 😀
Fabi what are you thinking about Claimed? I haven’t read enough of it to have an opinion yet.
Bev,
Is a huggle like a puggle?
A huggle is a snuggly hug. *grins*
Whoops…haha I was going to say…Bev, I think commenting has slowed down a little too but at least for me, it’s just that I’m working more. Don’t worry when it gets colder and I’m snowed in, you’ll be sick of me!
Lol never sock of you. Snowed in? Slightly envious.
Biiiig huuuugely squeeeezy hugs Amy. Tell stupid life to get outta the way of your fun with us girls here.
Michelle, I only read 3 chapters last night before I passed out. So far so good.
Tonight I went to see the Martian and just got home. Too tired to read. My opinion of the movie…read the book. I don’t know why I keep expecting someone to be able to turn a good book into a good movie. It is just not possible. You can’t fit what’s in a book into a two hour movie.
I’ve been working too much too. I’ve been posting but have had little time to read. A single book is taking me like a week to read in little snippets at a time. It’ll slow down in January and I’ll be able to have more reading time.
Sorry Amy, yep RL got in my way too. BIG SQUEEZY HUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
Sorry guys, RL has been getting in my way too. But celebrated my wedding anniversary yesterday with hubby….had a great lunch overlooking the river and did some day drinking. Then enjoyed walking around a quaint little town with scarecrows everywhere for a competion. It was a beautiful day…..sunny and 75!
20% of The House left for me to read so I’m holding off reading Maryse’s review. Definitely wasn’t what I thought it would be. Let me know when we are all starting BB.
I DO miss you guys when I’m away for just one day. *big hugs to all*
HEY EVERYONE GUESS WHAT I’M READING (if you even follow my posts)?????
Hugs, huggles, puggles???? *dives in*

Jean. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!
Sounds like a wonderful day. I love just wandering around tourist/college type small towns. Always have fun shops and places to eat.
So I hope for us all are real life is awesome today!
But speaking of irl I would love it if we could start Bird Box on the weekend. Pretty Please.
Ela Im always curious as to what others are reading.
Happy Anniversary Jean! The hubs and I celebrated in August and will be taking a vacation later this month to celebrate.
bev I’m IN on Bird Box on Saturday!!!!
I’m reading #1 in Bink Cummings right now, but I’m DYING for Bird Box so there will be NO squirreling for me once Saturday hits. *happy tremor*
Happy anniversary Jean!! 😀
BEV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’M STILL READING OUTLANDER *SOBBING* LOVING THE BOOK BUT I HAVE NEVER EVER READ THE SAME BOOK FOR ALMOST 5 DAYS *MORE SOBBING* IT’S SO LONG
Happy anniversary Jean!
Jean, that sounds super romantic. Happy belated anniversary.
That gif is a definite huggle attack. 😛 Yeah, looked up huggle, and some are real ones and some make me want to bleach my eyes. Here’s a huggle. I hope it works.
Well, Ela, it’s Thursday, so we get first lines to tell us what everyone else is reading. 😀 Mine is my typical boring one again.
“Ella, is it true?”
The Husband Beside Me by Evangelene
Thanks girls! I’m in for starting BB on Saturday. Calling for rain here in the morning, so yeah, perfect day for that!
Ela, I love when you scream!
So Maryse, how are you liking Bink? That one’s high on my TBR!
Thanks Girls *kisses and huggles*….*STILL SOBBING* *CHANTING WHEN WILL THIS BOOK END?*
I’m just going to choose my next sentence as First Line Thursday….cause who knows how long before I finish Outlander????
“My horse was battle-trained; his ears were laid flat against his head and he stamped and pawed at the noise, but he hadn’t run at the sound of gunshots, and he stood his ground as I groped for the saddle iron.” Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
I just got finished reading True Love Story by Willow Aster. WOAH!!!! How am I so behind? How had I never read that? FANTASTIC!!!!!!
Jean I’m 50% into Bink and I like it!!!
That said, it is VERY crude and raw and gritty and some things (ummm… like for just one example… club whore things) are more detailed than I’d prefer… LOL!!!!
That said, I’m entertained and will finish. 😀
AND AND!!! “Big” (her “hero” – I won’t say his whole name but you can imagine where I’m going with this, if I tell you his “real name” is Richard 😉 ) is PURE GROWLY ALPHA-MALE fun!!!!
Oh he’s the crudest of ’em all, no doubt, but I get a kick out of his claiming her. And they’ve been only “friends” (or “family”) for the whole first half, so a nice slow burn!!!
Amyyyyyy…. when you have time, I need your help with this one:
https://www.maryse.net/reader-questions/reader-question-the-book-where-she-overhears-a-phone-call-and-she-gets-upset-and-goes-to-his-teammate-across-the-street.html
(Or anyone else that has read it…)
WOW!!! the last comment I read was Bev saying “4 comments” now I am scrolling to catch up! LOL
Book updated I read “The House”..meeeeh let’s not even talk about it… ( but I am glad M enjoyed it)
“Mine” aka BOSSY McALPHAPANTS it was good .. but like I said yesterday*scroll up to my comment filled with shenanigans* little confused about the whole interconnected series not being a series and the characters knowing each other when I didn’t know them.. whaaaaaat?
Now now… Wrong aka ” CRUSH-WORTHY CUSTOMER ENDS UP BEING HER DOCTOR ” .. holy moly I can not recommend this book enough if you are in the mood for a very good laugh!! I was laughing superrrr loud at 2 AM throughout the ENTIRE book!! Just HILARIOUS!! I just wished there was more depth in the characters? Oh well..
BTW did you know the Jana Aston -author of Wrong- is JA HUSS’ PA?? I was completely blown away!!!
Now what will I read today??? 🙂 😉
Okay, the M. Never post got me thinking. It’s a dark book, loved it, etc. I’m realizing though, a lot of those historicals I read at 13,14,15 were dark. 1500s Ottoman Empire slave trade, forced marriage, pirates… yep. I’m thinking those were the original “dark romances”.
Tessa, your first lines are always priceless! Lol!
Here’s my first line for today: “I smiled as I sat at the traffic light and the smartly dressed businessman in his BMW waiting next to me dropped his mirrored shades down his nose to cast an appreciative eye my way.”
The Temptress, by C.J. Fallowfield
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY JEAN!!!!! Did you have a good anniversary night? Eh? *snickers and nudges Jean* Sorry, my inner junior high schooler has come out to play today. 😉
I’m in for the Bird Box buddy read on Saturday!! 😀
Maryse, posting over there now…
Haha! Thanks Amy! Yes, it was a very good night…lol!
YEAH!!!!! Go Jean!!!! 😛
https://giphy.com/gifs/lil-wayne-weezy-mike-posner-XujgSbqfZDQac
ELA, now your name is screaming too??? Blahahaha!
That’s what I thought after I typed it in and thought oh no, Jean’s a comin’ after me…..lol
I’ll try and tone it down BUT I’M GETTING TO THE END OF OUTLANDER AND DO NOT LIKE WHERE THIS IS HEADING AFTER SUCH A LONG JOURNEY…..*I WILL SURVIVE*
I’m reading two books so you get two first lines 🙂
“I need to get drunk and laid – not necessarily in that order,” Rylan announced as the group crossed the threshold into the bar. – Claimed by Elle Kennedy
“I’m standing on a corner in the rain.” Pure Abandon by Jeannine Colette
Finished The House. It was ok, not super-scary. Just started reading Wrong. Funny, not quite sure where it’s going yet…
Oh yeh first line:
“Sophie, your favorite customer is here.” Wrong by Jana Aston.
Finished Thicker Than Blood…even though it really didn’t pick up until halfway or so for me, the last half was really good and just what I would expect from Madeline Sheehan. I definitely got an unexpected…well, I can’t say without spoiling it. 😉 But yes, I DO recommend it!!
I was all ready to dive into the next book after what happened, but then I see it is about a character from TTB that can NEVER be redeemed! I don’t want to read about him, I don’t want to see him find love, I don’t want to read anything to do with him ’cause he is just…just…arrrrgghh, why him?!? *sigh*
Suddenly Amy, I’m highly intrigued by this irredeemable character… I haven’t read #1 yet though, so I may be right there with you!
Just have to say, “pfft” to rl today. “Pfft” ok feel better, lol.
LOL bev. Pfffffft.
My first line is the same as one of Michelle’s. 🙂
Bev, pfft, too funny, I love it.
Maryse I looked that book up. But I read a review were she thinks of the other women as……well not nice word. Even though she kind of lives the same life. IDK why but that has started to bug me, though in a lot of ones I will still read. Is there a lot of shaming?
bev… well yes, pretty much all the “club whores” are just… you know? Her and how she thinks… and I… just don’t fit well, I suppose.
Yes! Another really boring first line!
‘School was starting the next day.’
The Lover Beneath Me by Evangelene.
Yep, I am reading the end of the trilogy. It’s got my complete attention. Part of me is really curious about Claimed since that review, but at the same time, meh. I felt the same way about The House, though no idea why. The review makes it sound like Monster House. 🙂 Everyone knows that Cld Burn of Magic by Jennifer Este is $2.99? I think either Michelle or MichelleS (pretty sure Michelle) read it and said it wasn’t as good, but I’m still happy to have it. 😀
Finishing up Beware 2… may pull something from my huge TBR pile, really am feeling the need for a dark and twisty one…
Starting Manwhore! Was waiting for the final Novella to be out….I’m just so sick of cliffhangers and waiting for sequels!
Aw Bev, looks like RL has been messing with a bunch of us this week.
*goes to hug Bev*
Er, sorry…
*backs off*
How about a hugs-and-kisses martini instead? 😉
I want one of those martinis! I just “ate” Ela’s blow-kisses in the latest post… *eeeeep!!*
I’m feelin’ ya about the CH and sequels thing, Ela.
*fist bumps Ela*
This is what I thought when I just saw your comment Amy…..”Back away from the bev”……Hahahaha
I agree Amy and Ela….only really wanting standalones right now unless series is complete!
*fist bumps Amy and Jean* *huggles!!!!!!!!!!*
Can I get a martini too? Pretty please? How about one with something mango-ish????
”Back away from the bev” <——– LOL!!!!!
Hey Ela, how about this one? But I would use mango or pineapple vodka…and an extra shot, of course. 😉
https://www.food.com/recipe/tropical-martini-499054
*runs in for a fist bump with Ela, Amy and Jean*
Blow-kisses?!?!?!? BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
*falls off chair while laughing*
*shaking* I think Maryse is trying to scare me!
Amy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds delicious! *wipes drool off mouth* *waves hands in the air for my martini* Might as well make 2 at a time, I drink fast 😉
I’m tellin’ ya, Maryse…this guy isn’t like Javier from the Artist Trilogy or any of the other bad-but-hot guys we love. This guy is the reason why my heart was hurting at the end of TTB, and he can NEVER make things right. He just can’t. If you fell for him, my dear, I would chase you around with the shame bell. *shakes head*
I know, I know…I love it when my heart hurts (from books only ;)) but that doesn’t mean I want to read about the one who *caused* that hurt, ya know?
Trust me, Ela…I would make more than two ’cause we have a martini snatcher around here.
*side-eyes Maryse*
TTB???
Maryse! Give that back! *snatches martini back from the hurglar*
Hurglar = huggles burglar
Ela…Thicker Than Blood by Madeline Sheehan.
