<— Look what was just released today!!! Karina Halle came up with this one just a few weeks ago while she was vacationing in Hawaii, and wrote her heart out. Yep. It sound right up our alley my friends. In fact, a few from our Facebook crew absolutely love it.
Sally: I am reading it now and let me tell you Linden is HOT!! as in smokin HOT!!
Kat: This is the perfect fluffy novel. Linden is another dirty talking sexy male to add to Karina hot men. …an absolute steal.”
A bit from the synopsis:
Back in their mid-twenties and tired of the competitive hit-or-miss dating scene of San Francisco, Steph and Linden made a pact to marry each other if neither one of them were in a serious relationship by the time they hit thirty.
It sounds like fun and games but as the years to thirty tick past and lovers come and go out of their lives, the pact becomes larger than life.
And here are some fun details from the author:
It’s contemporary romance but NOT “new adult” (this one has characters in their 30’s). Karina Halle says:
“I’ve managed to write a lot of a new book (the idea came to me when I boarded the plane). It’s coming soon. It’s called The Pact. I can tell you that it’s *not* new adult (characters are in their thirties) and it’s set in San Francisco. It’s friends to lovers type of story. It’s got a dirty talking helicopter pilot hero. It’s fun and fresh and different from what I normally write! And yeah…so that happened. I’ve never come up with a book idea and just written it right away (usually I wait months or years before I am able to execute the idea because of my schedule) but because I had all this “free” time in Kauai, I was able to jump right in.”
Karina answer’s Shelly’s question saying that out of all of the books she’s written, she thinks this latest one is a good one to start with (if you have never read her work before).
“The Pact! I think it’s a safe place to start and will appeal to everyone”
Rebecca asks if Karina will be writing any other “The Pact”-style books and Karina answers:
“Yes! I would love to. Actually, with Atria I have Where Sea Meets Sky that comes out in March 31st and it’s very similar, maybe a bit more angsty (and longer) but it’s fun and different. I also have Racing The Sun coming out in July and that’s fun (think Jane Eyre in Italy) and romantic. Those books are New Adult but still. I would love to do more books like The Pact because writing straight romance makes my life a joy to live Too much suspense or dark books can be damaging to my health, believe it or not”
Cristal asks: Who was your inspiration for Stephanie?
Karina: I would say maybe myself (her drive) and my husband a bit (he’s a small business owner). Other than that, it was maybe a little Carrie Bradshaw?
Welp! Guess what I’m reading tonight? 😉 One of my fav authors and I’m NOT missing this one!
Sounds great so of course had to one click!! But I have been happily in a Kristen Ashley fog for the last few days gearing up for last of the Three series coming out on Tuesday!!! Until the Sun Falls from the Sky and With Everything I Am!! Yep pure heavenly book fog!!!!*sigh* 5star reads!!!
I’ve been in a K.A. fog as well. Found Knight on my TBR list & read it in a day. Thought I’d read all of K.A.’s books….not sure HOW I missed Knight. Gonna 1-click The Pact now!!
Maryse, thank you so much for the heads up on the Pact. Just one-clicked that one and going to start it tonight. Looooove Karina Halle!!! Linda, I’m looking forward to the next in the Three series also!
It’s live?!?!? YAY!!!!!! I’m so excited we didn’t have to wait too long for it…actually, there was really no wait at all as I just heard about it last week! 😀
One clicked. Can’t wait to read it.
“Linden McGregor is tall, rugged, and gunslinger handsome; a helicopter pilot with a Scottish brogue and charm to spare”…. SOLD!!!!! You had me at Scottish brogue Karina….. one clicked that one for sure (The Pact).
The third in “The Three” series comes out tomorrow? Fantastic. More Irish accents to add to the hot and sexy mix….
And I am going to finish Michelle’s recommended Edgelanders today (I hope)…. and those guys throw in an “aye” every now and then too…
It’s going to be a great week!
I had to 1-click this one too. While doing that, I ran across a $0.99 boxed set of 16 NA stories. Could.not.resist. *sigh* I’ll never make a dent in my tbr.
Here’s the title of that boxed set if anyone is interested:
The XOXO New Adult Collection: 16 Full Length New Adult Stories
This is so tempting at .99. But I have a few of her books that I have not even opened yet.
Fabi, your tbr resolution is for the new year and we are not there yet so no worries, I say.
Started The Pact and loving it!!! Can’t go wrong with anything Karina Halle writes!!!
Thanks for the free pass Bev. 🙂
Umm this I didn’t have to even think about just 1-click and done!
MichelleS, I see The Nordic Lords MC box set is .99 right now so I clicked that too. You still liking Edgelanders? I’m still on Station Eleven (fyi reallllyy good – I get what the hype was about) so probably will not get to start Tairen Soul series until tomorrow. I’m really excited about finally getting into that series!
Whoa this blurb sounds crazy…
https://www.amazon.com/Hate-Love-You-Elise-Alden-ebook/dp/B00I15VLI6/ref=asap_B00K1ESO8K?ie=UTF8
Aye! What a fun read!
Fabi, trying to convince myself it is still ok what with holiday sales still popping up, lol. Then I do plan to pull back a little as I know I have at least three not cheap books coming out, soon, I’ll one click.
Michelle, that set up sounds familiar. Didn’t Maryse review one with sisters in a similar situation? That is such a horrible thing to do on so many levels I’m not sure I could root for her.
Michelle, I read that one a few months back! The plot *was* pretty crazy and sometimes sad (not the crying type of sad, just the kind of sad that comes from a screwed up situation), and I definitely cringed a few times…as in reading while peeking through my fingers. 😕 Some things seemed implausible (but not impossible) but for me it wasn’t a big deal ’cause it’s a book, and don’t we often read books for that kind of thing? The crap-can-you-imagine-if-that-really-happened kind of thing.
Bev, believe it or not it was easy to see how it all came about and to feel for her. If I remember correctly, she was a teenager when it happened and in a family of a-holes, and in her infinite teenage wisdom she made a decision as a way to simultaneously take care of her situation and say “screw you” to everyone but ended up paying a steep, painful price for that decision. That’s not a spoiler (y’all know how I feel about those!), it’s all explained in the beginning. 😉
I’m starting The Pact this evening and soooo excited for it! 😀
Michelle, so Station Eleven is living up to the hype for you? That’s nice to know. Ill have to check my library to see if they have. Also, I love the cover.
Loving the Pact so far. I’m almost 50% and I’m completely sucked in. Linden is f*** hot and funny too. And Steph’s character feels like someone you want to kick back and hang out with. I always love the friends to lovers genre and I like that these two characters are a little older (not NA) because their actions and reactions feel real and believable. This book feels very different from Karina Halle’s usual gritty and edgy voice but I’m loving it! Reaffirming exactly why she is one of my favorites. 😀
As a Scot I cringe sometimes when a “non-Scottish” author writes in a Scottish accent. Karina Halle didn’t do that and this was one hot Scot. Great story, loved everything about it.
Michelle – YES, still loving Edgelanders. That is one freaking long book!! The Troll attack just happened – so I still have a ways to go to finish. And now The Three Series book 3 is dangling out there and it has my name ALL OVER IT… so I am chewing my nails down trying not to squirrel. If I squirrel it’s only because I love KA’s PNR series so much….. but I WILL finish Edgelanders. I love the story it’s building up to. (I am having remodel work done so I can’t read like I want to).
Bev, Maryse did review Hate to Love You I checked. After reading her review and your comments Amy, I 1-clicked!
Station Eleven was awesome Bev and I think you would love it. I’ve never read anything like it. I do not even know how to describe it: haunting and elegant come to mind though. I borrowed my copy from the library and it seems like most have it although I was on hold since it came out.
MichelleS Edgelanders is a long book but it has the epic fantasy feel so those types are always a little longer. I picked up KA’s new one but Lord of the Fading Lands is calling me more.
Michelle – oh, be still my heart – wait until you meet all the Fey warriors – Rain, Bel, Kieran, Rowan, Adrial, Kiel, and Gaelen…. man, I hope you stick with it and love it as much as I did. Did you like Wheel of Time series? It gets compared a lot…
I’m already enthralled MichelleS like to the point where I barely could tear myself away to comment…and right back to reading I go!
Michelle- can’t wait until yo get to the Kefflee part!!! fanning self…. ust remember book one is the set up for all the action in later books….
MichelleS ughhhh I feel so stupid that I sat on this series for sooo long! The first book was fantastic…utterly magical, beautiful, just EPIC! Tomorrow after I de-hangover, I’m going right into book 2. I loved Edgelanders (gave it 4.5 stars) but this one gets a “I do not even have to think about it” 5 stars!
Michelle – oh yay! happy dance late on New Year’s Eve – so glad you love it. Like I said, my favorite epic fantasy of all time. When you get to Shan and Elfeya – gut wrenching! In another thread we’re talking about books where you remember EVERYTHING. This series was THAT for me. Names, plots, details, nick names, all of it. (I absolutely will get back to Edgelanders though). 🙂 (BTW – I went around calling my hubby Shei’tan while reading this series).
I think this will be a remember everything series for me too. I bookmarked so many parts. I actually teared up after she touched Bel and that whole scene – I like him the best so far out of the secondary charcaters. I’m nervous how Rain will react to Ellie’s heritage too. Haha your poor hubby was probably like what is this crazy calling me? Did you get him to call ya she’tani though after explaining? I need to make up my list of favorite reads this year to post in the other thread but that first book is going on there! Thanks for pushing me to read it because it would have been a reading sin to own these books and not read them any longer!
Yup – I made him call me Shei’tani… giggle… and he still does it once in a blue moon! I loved the scene with Bel – and that is only one of so so many touching scenes to come. I fell for him as a secondary character first too – but others will win you over! You just wait!!! Happy New Year! Oh – and it has THE worst of the worst bad guys in it….. the worst!!!
