Oh boy today’s just-released books are as exciting as yesterday’s (Monday Early Bird Book Releases)!!! TWO AWESOME DAYS of book releases by our absolute favorite authors, and no matter what books I had at the top of my TBR list… things have shifted. Tee hee!
In fact, I’m still reading Kristen Ashley’s latest (Bounty (Colorado Mountain Series Book 7) – released yesterday) and am loving it. At over 600 pages, it takes me a bit, but I’m halfway through and still very much in!
Ela: Deke!!!!!!!!!!!! He has a man bun so need HAWT visual….
Lanie: I’m half way through Bounty and loving it (then again, it’s Kristen Ashley so that’s not a surprise). One thing I will say though, I wish she spelled Jussy “Jussie” instead. Because sometimes my mind makes a Freudian slip and read Jussy as another word and that’s just…Well, let’s just say it provides a couple of double takes and giggles.
BLURB-JOLTS!!! ➜ But there are some below that have of course, made me giddy with anticipation. Like: Dirty by Kylie Scott (she finds out, on her wedding day, that her fiancé is “with” his best man, and she ends up at a bar… and there’s a bartender… 😉 ), Lust Is the Thorn (he is studying to be a priest, but his best friend’s sister needs help), Maestra (psych-thriller, and she LOSES it, when she loses her job…), Over the Line (I love Lisa Desrocher and this is her Mafia series… and OMG what a forbidden love-triangle this one weaves), Never Sweeter (I also LOVED one by this author a few years back, and this one is about her high school bully that is paired up with her on an assignment in college. And I skimmed some reviews and some say he is THE WORST of the worst kinds of bullies… almost irredeemable. YIKES!! Now I’m extra curious!)
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything!)
AUDIOBOOK LVERS
For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).
ROSE GARDNER SERIES by Denise Grover Swank <— THE ENTIRE SERIES is on super-bargain sale, and many right here love this author!
- Steady as the Snow Falls by Lindy Zart <— LINDY ZART ALERT & IT SOUNDS AWESOME!!!! SHE’S HIRED TO WRITE HIS STORY BUT… “Inside the house of emptiness and coldness, she finds a man with curt words and haunted eyes. He is eccentric, odd. Brutish, even. He scares her, and he intrigues her. When she learns who he is, she wants to run. But there is the money, and there is the dream, and eventually, there is simply Harrison Caldwell. The haunted man with the black, ugly truth.” This one was just released a few days ago!!
Radiance (Wraith Kings Book 1) by Grace Draven <— HUGE LOVE in our group for this book, and book #2 was JUST released (see the paranormal section below, for it).
Anne: Eidolon by Grace Draven!! I loved Radiance so much! I’ve been waiting for this book for so long and its finally here!!
MichelleS: Definitely fantasy romance – and very well written.
Eliza: Radiance (Wraith Kings, Book 1) by Grace Draven…not a cliff hanger. She is a writer who has a lyrical bent. This particular book is wonderful right from the start. Check out her other books they have a similar bent, two people who are very different finding each other. Enjoy!
Laura: I’m waiting impatiently for Grace Draven’s new book to be available on Amazon. Radiance was my favourite book of 2015 and the second book, Eidolon, should be available today or tomorrow.
- Redemption Lane (Crossroads Book 1) by Rachel Blaufeld <— Super-bargain priced and Virginia recommends it! “Loved it!!”
- First and First (Five Boroughs Book 3) by Santino Hassell <— M/M ROMANCE (much-loved standalone series) and this one was released yesterday and Fabi is LOVING IT!!
Fabi: Late for work today. I KNEW that would happen when I started reading First and First. Holy hotness, I can’t break away. I saw a reviewer’s comment that said this book will make you conceive so read it with birth control. haaaa she wasn’t kidding
Molly: Haha Fabi, I feel your pain. I have the worst book hangover after finishing! I don’t even want to read anything after first and first.
Kandace: I love Santino Hassell’s Five Boroughs series and they are on sale (Sutphin Boulevard (Five Boroughs Book 1) & Sunset Park (Five Boroughs Book 2)… Santino is quickly becoming one of my favorite author. The second book was my favorite. Each book centers around a different couple. I would highly recommend if you are a fan of the M/M genre.
Maryse: Oh you guys are killing me with happiness… I just one-clicked the first two Santinos..
Donna: Thanks Kandace for letting us know the Five Boroughs series being on sale!!! Huge savings and that made my Monday!!!
Molly: YAY Maryse! I loved the two first books. But First and First is the best of the series, so far.
Fabi: Maryse, don’t forget about Stygian, a semi-pnr with a bit of creepiness. But, truly, if I were to recommend to you your first Santino Hassell book, I’d want to stear you towards his collab with Megan Erickson, Strong Signal (Cyberlove Book 1). It was my favorite of the month when I read it. Santino’s characters are hard and gritty and so freakin’ real. Megan added a certain sweetness factor to Strong Signal that melted my heart.
- Killer Buzz Float: Greatest Hits by Kendall Grey <— Jean recommends these: “if anyone is looking for a HOT rock band series, Killer Buzz Float by Kendall Grey…..**** today for 3 books. I loved these books…..hot, and um yeah, really hot!”
KEPT: A Second Chance Fairy Tale by A.C. Bextor <— Jean also recommends this one! “For those of you who haven’t read Kept by A.C. Bextor, it’s *** today! I loved it!” and Fabi agrees: “I read Kept that Jean mentions above. Another great rec from her. Definitely worth jumping on that sale price.”

Hi! I love the list 🙂 I just finished reading Naked Truth by M.D. Saperstein that came out yesterday (4/18) and it was funny and brilliant and just a thousand different shades of awesomeness.
This list has my head spinning. There are so many here I want to read. I started making myself a short list but I had to stop when I reached #6 because I was starting to hyperventilate.
I’m still trying to recover from last weeks’ releases!
I want this… and that… Especially Dive. Oh man, that looks good. Also, I NEED to read Radiance. I can’t believe I haven’t yet. *sighs* So many books. That Ilona Andrews is a re-release of one that was in an anthology.
Oooh, Sseaking of Ilona Andrews, forever years later, I finally read Steel’s Edge by Ilona Andrews. Soooo good, as usual. I need to read two of the Edge books that were prior then I’ll have read all her books.
Tessa, we should buddy read Radiance. It’s been in the top five of my tbr for ages and it seems like I never get to it. I have to finish First and First, but after that I will drop anything to BR. 🙂
I want to try Dirty as long as it doesn’t have a CH.
Okay on the Radiance! I have to wait for my tablet to recharge. *sighs* I really just need to buy the Kindle Brightlight or whatever it’s called, but reality keeps making me put it off. In this case, good reality, a trip, but still reality. lol
aaaahhhh! You’re starting it now? I have to finish First and First before I start it. I can’t squirrel on this one, not even if my life depended on it. :-/
Oh Morgan, Naked Tryth looks good, thanks! Question for you guys, can Bounty be read as a standalone? Or do all the books in that series need to be read in order?
Oooh… Never Sweeter…. gah, that one gave me blurb jolt, that’s gonna be a definite one click for me. I think yes please!
Fabi, nope. I can’t even if I didn’t say I’d wait. I’m reading The Next Always by Nora Roberts while my tablet re-charges. Then, I can read it with you. 🙂
Tessa, I don’t know how long it takes to recharge your tablet. I’m at 50% of First and First so I’ll probably finish it tomorrow. Then, if you’re also going to read Radiance, I’ll read it too. I just need that extra little push to get to it ahead of any others on my tbr. 🙂
Grey especially since I’m reading that he was just HORRIBLE.
Some people aren’t even able to connect ’cause of how bad he was… I’m intrigued!!! LOL!!! 😛
I want to read the Radiance one!!!!! But I have to finish Bounty, and then I’d be one book behind y’all’s buddy read.
OMG YES Morgan that one sounds darn fun!!! LOL!!!
Oh… and I want to read my Santinos.
Just finished First and First by Santino Hassell. This guy is a fabulous writer and this book exceeded my expectations. Loved it!
Oh man!!!! You’re making me choose between Kristen Ashley & the Colorado series & the Grace Draven & the sequel to Radiance? My head just exploded.
Radiance was sooooo good. I’m a sucker for beauty & the beast type stories. So well written.
Colorado series was how I discovered & fell in love with KAs writing.
Can’t decide.
Tomorrow is good for me. I know this book will take that long to read, and the tablet takes literally ALL DAY to charge. That’s why my constant grrr. It got unplugged somehow (the charger connector is loose) and was un-connected two days.
Tasha J, Maryse- Naked Truth had me laughing my butt off but it was soooo sweet and definitely sexy at the same time!
OK, I’ll try to be finished with First and First by tomorrow night.
Maryse, wanna join us for a BR of Radiance tomorrow night? Will you be done by then?
I want to get to Dirty also, but I really need this little push to finally start Radiance. I can’t tell you how long I’ve been staring at it on my “read next” tbr.
Teri…agree…F&F is incredibly fantastic and his writing has never been better.
Radiance is the first one? Let’s!!!!!
Just fyi Maryse, F&F is a stand alone in the series. They all are.
ummm, first one of what?
Radiance (Wraith Kings Book 1) by Grace Draven
Loving Dive…started it this morning when I woke up…but now Im running late!!
Also grabbed Worth It All by Claudia Connor because the others (stand alones) in this series have been wonderful. Thanks for a great list Maryse. 🙂
Dirty, Bounty, or Eidolon. Decisions to be made.
That is a lot to read, Maryse. Take a break. Relax.
Fabi, pretty sure no CH in Dirty. Looks like a series of stand alones.
Dirty, a CH. NO!!! *looking this up* Ok a review on Goodreads says no CH!
Huh, the cover is the same for First and First and Inside The Office. 😉
Finishing Sugar Rush, which I think is better than the first book, Rookie Mistake. Good sports romance. Then probably Dirty.
Eidolon!! Yes!! Finally! I am reading Radiance again though since I read it over a year ago. I loved Radiance so much and I am freaking out that Eidolon is finally out!! *happy dance*
Never Sweeter sounds great too!
I’m currently 64% into KA’s Bounty. Typical KA – great. I love Justice, and the mountain of man that is Deke, with his man-bun. (Did someone call it a mun? Funny!) The story is getting a bit complicated but I’m still in. I love finding out what’s happening to some of the characters from other KA books as well. Nice touch. And am I the only one that cried when Jussy sang the Jim Croce song?
I’m also about the same percentage into Kylie Scott’s Dirty. Couldn’t decide between them so I’m reading both books concurrently lol. (Does anyone else do that, too?) I’ve slumped a bit in Dirty. It’s not really grabbing me. (Cowers under a rain of peanuts). Let me just say I love Kylie Scott. Play and Lead were both outstanding books for me (both from the Stage Dive series). And I was really looking forward to Dirty. Had it pre-ordered and all. But I’m just not feeling the same love this time. I don’t like the heroine (sorry ….. but there you go …..) and the plot so far seems a bit thin. Mmmm….
Bounty!!! I love everything KA writes, but this has just messed me up!!! I wasn’t expecting to be THIS into this one. I always liked Deke, but I wasn’t overly excited about his story. Which is just so stupid when dealing with KA. Now I’m going through such a horrendous withdrawal. I don’t want to read anything else. I just want more new KA and there is nothing she has published that I haven’t already read at least twice or more! I’m paralyzed with dissatisfaction over every other book out there – I can’t get enough of her specific kind of feels! This one hit me like Hold On and Soaring did. Ugh! The feels!!!! Help me!!!! I need a seriously solid book recommendation to try to break out of this funk! It’s just such a special type of angst that she writes where the heroine is swallowing her pain because she’s mature and doing her best to be rational about life no matter what her heart longs for. HELP ME!!!!
Hmmm. I feel your pain, Grace. Have you read Kulti by Mariana Zapata?Completely different, but maybe has some of the elements you’re looking for? Sal is a mature heroine with lots of integrity. Has a great, positive, coping attitude towards her life and doesn’t let the bee-arches get her down (most of the time). Falls in love with Kulti even tho she’s not in a position to do anything about it – just has to deal. This is one slow burn romance, but it held my interest all the way thru. I loved the maturity of both characters. I recently re-read this and enjoyed it even more second time around.
Kulti is a great suggestion! Thank You! Unfortunately, I have read it. I really liked it, and it fits what I was describing really well. I’ve turned on notifications for this post so any more suggestions and I’ll be jumping on ’em as soon as my phone buzzes!
Or, Grace, what about Joanna Wylde’s Reaper’s Stand. Yeah, It’s an MC romance, but a superior one. (In some ways reminds me of KA’s Motorcycle Man). Reese and London are both mature (OK, older) characters, which I love. Yeah, ok, sometimes I’m in the mood for NA and all that fumbling anxiety and angst. But I really love a real, grown-up, mature man and woman finding each other, like in Reaper’s Stand.
And when I say mature, I don’t mean age at all. I don’t mind the story falling into any age group as long as the characters are not dragging me along endlessly because of something stupid and easily rectified. Maturity isn’t found in an age number it’s self awareness and some common sense. LOL!
Oh my gosh Jan130 we are soul sisters! I love Johanna Wylde. I’ve read them all! You are so right! Don’t give up on me. You’ve got me pegged now I just need to find a book like this that you have read and I haven’t. Any genre is fair game – I’ll read anything that’s a good story.
Lol Grace. I’ll rack my brains. Maybe there’ll be something I can think of that you haven’t read??? I, too, love a mature character (which isn’t necessarily their actual age) e.g. Sal in Kulti was only in her 20s but she was an actual ‘grown-up’ character. I too get frustrated by stupid/ immature characters and books with artificial conflicts/ plot points that could so easily be resolved if they’d just communicate with each other. BTW you might be able to make a suggestion for me (other than KA) of something along those lines that I may not have read? Here’s hoping. I presume you’ve done Wall of Winnipeg? Do you ever read historicals?
OK, I’ll throw a few out there for you to check out. Hope you haven’t read them all …. 😉 Hollywood Dirt by Alessandre Torre, Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren, The Turning Point by Freya North (I loved this big time but get ready for ugly crying) The Seven Series Dannika Dark (PNRs). I’ll keep thinking.
Ridiculous! We are soul sisters! LOL! I’ve read everything you listed there but The Turning Point, which came up as a pre-order available May 3rd so I’ll be watching for it. Off the top of my head to suggest back to you is Abruption by Riley Mackenzie. I think that’s the last book besides a few favorite series continuations or a KA that I got really excited about. Oh and the Suanne Laqueur – Three Books – The Fish Tales Series. Those were great, but I think all of those were pointed out here so you might have already read those yourself. This does remind me that I wanted to look for more from Riley Mackenzie!
Oh! Jan130 – I really enjoyed Wall of Winnepeg. Your suggestions are impeccable! I really appreciate them, even if we only found one that I have not read yet. Ha Ha!
Whoops… Missed another question. YES on the historicals. Any flavor. Sometimes I just emotionally NEED to curl up with a braw highlander (which my husband just loves *rolls eyes*) so those are usually my favorites, but I’m truly an every possible genre kind of lass. Hee Hee.
Ok. Grace and Jan130 I am weighing in with a couple of recommendations based on the books you’ve enjoyed (also books I have enjoyed btw).
Blurred Lines Lauren Layne….Ben and Parker stuck with me.
Signal Bend series and Dartmoor series (two of the better biker series out there).
And a rec someone here gave me….Forget and Blur by NA Alcorn.
Darker Water by Lauren Stewart (book one in a series of standalones but Im still patiently waiting for the next one)
Jan130 a quick question….I know youre an Aussie so you may be able to help. I have 100s of hard copy books….mostly books this crazy bunch of book worms have recommended to me, and I want to get rid of them….do you know of any second hand book companies….I dont actually care if I get any $$ for them but I can’t bring myself to just recycle them.
Crazy town, Grace! Well, when The Turning Point becomes available I hope everyone loves it as much as I did. It’s already available on amazon Australia, altho I read it from the local library lol. But I loved it so much I’m thinking of actually buying it.
Thanks so much for the wonderful suggestions everyone. (Keep ’em coming!) I’ll check them out asap.I have to rush off and go get ready to get to singing practice on time. (I sing with a community choir, and I LOVE it).
But a quick reply to you, Lisa. I don’t really know what you could do with your books unless you want to just donate them. In my town there is actually a charity bookshop completely staffed by volunteers which is where my unwanted old novels usually end up. Maybe you can donate them to an op shop if there is no such thing near you.
Well, must pop on my lippy and get going.
Lisa: Nice! Good suggestions as well. I have only read 1-4 of Signal Bend Series and must have lost track so that’s 4 more books for me! Thanks! I’ve enjoyed all the rest of your list, except the Forget and Blur by N A Alcorn so I have one-clicked those and hopefully those can help me out of my funk. I think I just need to come to terms with the roller coaster of emotions that a KA release puts me through. I just love it so much, and I have to learn to deal with a bit of a mourning period when it’s done and I’m back to waiting on the next release. That can’t be a bad thing! I’ve got rock stars and bikers to console me now. Although, I’m still open to suggestions when America wakes up!
Thanks for the suggestion Jan130….I had a funny little image in my head of me rolling in to the local church op shop with huge cartons of smutty erotic romance books. 😉
Im all up on Kindle now and hardly ever read a ‘real’ book. (Its easier to sneaky read on a kindle I find….and I dont keep the hubby awake with the bedside light on when Im in a marathon-cannot-put-it-down reading binge).
Grace I hope you enjoy Forget and Blur….the second book ramps up the angst. And I love all the music/song references throughout.
Thanks Jan130! I’m not sure how things come up from me Amazon wise. I’m an American, but I live in Thailand. I pay through an American credit card, and I set up my Amazon account in the U.S. So I guess that’s what I get when I sign in. No telling, but I will keep an eye out for it! Your word is gold to me based on our mutual taste. I hope your choir practice was a blast and your lippy held up!!!!
Lisa! Rolling around laughing at the picture of all those smutty books showing up at the local church op shop! I can’t agree more on the e-readers sparing us the shame of all those covers advertising to everyone what we are reading. As it is, I still get my husband rolling his eyes whenever he gets a look at my digital library. Usually muttering, “Abs, Abs and more Abs. Those idiots can’t eat, and you know they can’t maintain that right?” And it’s not even really like that in there, but it’s all he can see. Ha Ha Ha!
Grace…I remember all the grief my girlfriends and I got reading 50 shades back in the day. One of them used to drop the kids to school then park at Coles to read in peace in her car because she knew her hubby would torment her for it.
Anyhow a big group of the husbands went on a surf trip on a boat in the Mentawi Islands and one of the wives removed her husbands Jack Reacher novel or whatever he was reading from his bag, and replaced it with the 50 Shades trilogy. Baahaahaa.
Ten guys on a boat with only 50 Shades to read!!!! Revenge is sweet. 😉
Lisa that is a beautiful story!
I’ve got one for you. My husband found his skin was dry so he apparently went for whatever skin lotion he could find in the bathroom. Later I looked at the bottle of lotion I almost never used to find that it was nearly all gone. So I asked him about it and he said his skin was dry. So I said, ok then, but did you notice that it’s “shimmering lotion?” That means it has glitter in it. You’ve been cruising around sunny Thailand on your motorbike with shiny skin. He said, “I decided I liked it. Made me feel like a pretty vampire all glittery in the sun.” Ha Ha Ha!
Hey southern hemisphere girls. I’m back from singing (lol that autocorrected to *sinning* luckily I noticed!). Having a good laugh over your funny stories. Yes my husband and sons think all of the book covers with abs on my kindle are pretty ridiculous.
I did try Signal Bend book 1 but couldn’t get into it at the time. Mustn’t have been in the right frame of mind that day. t’ve seen lots of recs for the series so I’d better give it another try, I guess. I do love a good MC romance. Haven’t read Dartmoor series so that looks good too. I’ve already downloaded a sample of Abruption but haven’t looked at it yet. Time to move it up the list. Darker Water has potential, and the Alcorns look good too. (Darned autocorrect again – *acorns* lol). Thanks, ladies. This is great!
Lisa, maybe you can drop the books off anonymously in one of those big donation bins charities use to accept goods. I think the op shops just stick the books in the romance section and don’t worry. I’m sure every op shop has at least a set of the 50 shades trilogy on their shelves. Recently even my local library has actually started stocking erotic romances and they are clearly labelled as such on the cover and spine. People are more accepting these days – maybe in part thanks to 50 shades.
Hey. Look. There is a night time group.
I couldn’t get into anyour of the new books last night, so back to A Wish Upon Jasmine. Laura Florand has been fun right now. Anyway, small amount of reading time for me today. If finish above book I think I’m going to dive into Eidolon. Then, finally, Cocky Bastard. Then, lol, back to the new KA & Dirty.
MichelleS did you decide on one?
I finished reading Bounty last night. I loved it. There weren’t any mean and stupid ex’s to get in the way or trivial misunderstandings to tear them apart. I loved everything about this book EXCEPT the man bun. I am not a fan of the ban man. At all. So every time I pictured Deke, I either had his hair tied back in a low pony like Aaron Eckhart in Erin Brockavich or it was just hanging loose. I’m always sad when I finish a KA book. She is my favorite, hands down.
Maryse spans the globe Bev!
I’d still be grateful for more suggestions along the lines of what I described for the day regulars to suggest!
Thanks!
Oh! Totally agree with you Stephanie. Not much of a man bun fan either, but I self-edited as well.
Is it wrong to wish that a few more authors could just be exactly like her only to satisfy my selfish greed for more of what I want?
I have read everything on Maryse list of books similar to KA. I wonder if any new ones have been flagged since that list was formed?
Grace, I just read what you wrote about Bounty and KA. I couldn’t agree with you more. Major KA withdrawals now. I wish she could have a new book every week. I would never get tired of them. I’ve read and re-read almost all of her books. Getting ready to read The Promise again even though it was least favorite of the burg series. A least favorite KA book is better than no KA book.
And I loved the conversation about the book covers. Every time I buy a book, it also shows up on my husband’s kindle. Sometimes he laughs but mostly just shakes his head. I’ve learned to order my books when he’s not around so I can delete off his kindle, especially the racier covers or titles.
This is making me more excited about Bounty. KA has been hit or miss for me lately. Not really like her, KA is unique, but….
Act Like it by Lucy Parker
Laura Florand. I’m reading her LA Vie En Roses series, but I’m going into her chocolate ones next. Those are the ones most love.
Deeper by Robin York. NA but so good.
Love Rainbow Rowell.
Going the Distance by Julianna Keyes.
I used to gobble up Nora Roberts CR. Usually does great female friendships and strong heroines.
SEP!! Great CR.
Stephanie, I felt the same way about The Promise, but I liked it better the second read for whatever reason. I’m thinking about hitting The Will and Soaring for a 3rd go. I find the longer the book, the more time she has to put us in their lives, the better the book turns out in the end. She’s brilliant!
I don’t know if you read YA but Jellicoe Road was awesome.
*cough* Maryse. *cough*
Bev! Thank you! I will be checking those out! I liked Act Like It, some of those are new to me so that’s got me hopeful!
Thanks for the list Bev, I’ll check them out. Grace, just did a re-read of The Will and Soaring last week. *sigh*
I just started thinking of the man bun discussion and remembered when we talked of it before. Amy thought I meant a different type of buns and then about Opie. This made me stop and laugh all over again. Nice way to start the morning.
Stephanie I send you a kindred *sigh* from across the globe!
I just want more of that feeling! Like Cheryl giving up on all that she was dreaming of with Merry after she over hears Merry and Colt’s face off in the parking lot. Oh my gosh, “a woman like her!” Ugh! My heart! Or Amelia analyzing herself critically and deciding to make changes – for herself – after Mickey shows ZERO interest in her. Or just Amelia trying to set things right with her kids, then add Mickey.
KA! She kills me softly word by word, but I know where it’s going to go and I know I’m going to absolutely love it when it gets there! AND I know I’m going to love EVERBODY else in the book too!
Just. Want. More!
Finished and LOVED Bounty…but hey it’s KA and YOU can’t go wrong with ANY of her books at least in my book you can’t! I’ve read most of her books, I’m only behind on the Rock Chick series…
Thanks Bev for the list *hugs*
I started Stuck-Up Suit.
AND OF COURSE I’m still looking at Urban Decay concealers and Tarte Lip stains, which I found both brands at beauty.com or drugstore.com (one bag 2 stores). I swear I even order fabric softener off those sites!
Bev, I was going to suggest Nora Roberts too! It helps that I’m reading one of her books right now, The Next Always.
Grace, also, have you tried Susan Elizabeth Phillips or Linda Howard? The characters in those are usually pretty mature as well.
Tessa – Many Thanks! I will check those out as well.
Bev – Jellicoe road looks really interesting. Is it a stand alone?
I’m still interested if it isn’t, but in my current book funk I won’t want to knowingly start anything whose story doesn’t end unless the subsequent books have been released, or I know to just buy it and wait for the rest. That’s my usual Trilogy policy – not longer series books. I didn’t even peek at Never Never until they were all out. I bought ’em, I just wait to read them so I can keep from driving myself nuts. It’s an exercise in hardline self control sometimes, but it pays off wonderfully when I can just go right into the next book.
Re-reading Radiance and yup its just as good as I remembered. I just love Brishen and Ildiko together!
I really need to catch up on my KA reading. She’s great and I’ve loved all of her books.
So I finished reading Never Sweeter. I hate to say, I was soo disappointed. I think it had the potential to be some amazing, but it just fell so short. The things in it were sooo unbelievable and so vague at the same time. I think that was my biggest problem, Nothing was really explained. It could have worked if everything just took its time and was explained much better. I just felt like it has so much potential. It makes me want to read a better book about bullies… any suggestions??
Kyle have you read Bully by Penelope Douglas? I really liked that one!
Ugh I am having severe heartburn at the moment. I have GERD but they took me off my meds for 2 weeks so they can do an endoscopy but I feel so awful!!! :/
Bev – went with Bounty. Like it so far. It just feels like she’s putting herself into these female characters more & more. I swear, I thought it was her she was talking about for the whole first part!!!
By the time they finish BR Radiance (thrilled & jealous about that) I’ll be ready to read book two with you all, if you like it enough. I sure did. Like “last hour of Gann” light!!!! And book two is short. 280 pages, I think??
Hope you’re feeling better soon, Anne.
Whoops, Grace, I realised Thailand is in the *northern* hemisphere. Duh. Maybe I should have referred to the eastern hemisphere ladies??
Bev, thanks for the recs. Yes, Nora Roberts is a good thought, too. I remember enjoying a trilogy or quartet about the Quin brothers – Chesapeake Bay?? that I liked. But some of your recs look pretty pricy on amazon so I may have to check the library.
Tasha J, KA books are usually standalones with the series that shows repeat characters.
Yay Ela! Saw that you were reading Stuck Up Suit! I just finished and……I LOVED it!!!! Comparing CB and SUS …I liked SUS better! I think I am in the minority on here…maybe…with that? Give me a Graham anyday!
So excited for Bounty …so much so that I want to linger over it….sip it…make it last…therefore I am saving it for Friday! But I have heard the rumors that Deke has a man bun?!?! *fans face* Ladies, some men can rock a man bun:
Needless to say if my guys Stu or Charlie rocked a man bun…I wouldn’t turn them away!
Apparently, I suck at this linking stuff……let’s try this one:
https://www.google.com/search?q=stu+reardon+with+man+bun&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=ivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj9ht3op57MAhUjkIMKHV0lDBYQ_AUIBygB&biw=768&bih=928#imgrc=rD4IrXzy-aEgwM%3A
Grace, Jellicoe Road is a stand alone. It’s awesome but the very beginning is a bit confusing. The author just drops the reader in and doesn’t over explain thing. It just unfolds in this lovely way.
Anne – I hope you feel better soon!
Kyle – I agree with Anne…Bully is one of best “bully” books. A couple of others I consider “bully” books are How To Save A Life by Emma Scott, Scarred by Joanne MacGregor, Make Me by Amanda Heath, and Virtue and Vanity by Astrid Jane Ray.
Good Morning Ladies! (Just waking up – Thursday morning here.) I appreciate the recommendations thus far. Clearly I went to bed with all of you on my mind because I dreamt that Maryse decided to find out where all her readers were, and some how everyone showed up at my house to talk books! LOL!
Jan130 – No worries! Northern or Southern Hemisphere – we are pretty much chasing the sun from the same side of the planet. I’m so much closer to your time zone here than my own peeps back home. We remain the night group! I’ve been quietly lurking on here for years now. Only my most recent after KA funk has brought me out into the light.
*siiiigh* I just finished First and First. Wow – just – Wow I’m dazed and speechless and overheated and drifting on cloud 9.
Tessaaaa, oh, Teeeeessa, are you ready for Radiance? I’m not, hahaha, but I will be by late tonight. I need a long break before the next read to let this book fog dissipate somewhat. But, I’ll be ready to start a new book by tonight.
Bev – That is ringing bells for me now. I think I get the *coughs* directed at Maryse too now. I may give that a try, but later. My current “after a great book” funk needs to settle before I do that or it will probably work against me.
(Sorry if this is repeat info, it seems I lost a chunk off my last post? Or at least it looks like I did to me.)
Anne – Hope you feel better soon!
Maryse, that
was a cute interview that you did. A beach would be awesome right now.
Glad you decided to join us Grace. It’s funny I was a lurker forever and still forget others are reading these comments, lol. It feels like I’m just havin a conversation with Fabi or Michelle or ect.
I’m so glad Grace joined us too!
And thank you bev. They were very fun questions that they sent me!! And yes, I was thinking of all of us on the beach in our gauze-covered breezy huts. Like… Beach-Blankie-Forts. LOL!!!
Yes. Poor poor Jellicoe. Got left on the roadside. But that’s OK (kind of) I’ve new plans for Maryse. Heh.
LOL bev… it was so hard on me!!!! What new plans? Ohhhhhhh riggggght SHERLOCK!!! 😛
Bev – I just have to say that when I was given my first Kindle and I realized that electronics had now done for books what the iPod did for music I was beside myself. I live like a gypsy and that is not conducive to a having a library! However, with the world at my fingertips, I found myself not knowing what to read! I bless the day I discovered Maryse and all of you! Keep talking!!!!
Kyle have you read Tangled by Em Wolf. Great bully book.
Anne I hope youre feeling better soon and can get tbe endoscopy out of the way so you can take your meds. So uncomfortable for you.
DG….Im with you on tbe ‘mun’ debate. I only need to picture Jason Momoa and Im all good with a character depicted with a man bun.
And if Im really not feeling the H’s description I self-edit and replace him with a Hemsworth! Chris makes a great biker 😉
Ok. I’ll shut up now……first day of holidays and first day in weeks Ive had time to read all of the feed.
Anne hope you’re feeling better. Heartburn is no fun. Hopefully the results from your endo will be worth the pain now. 🙂
Amy & Maryse and everyone that loves makeup. I bought a nude lip gloss today. Wanted something more beige than pink like the UD naked I have. Thought I loved this one when I tried it at Sephora; now I’m wondering if too shimmery. Although nude beigey matte may be too blah. Never bought any makeup by Bite before. Anyone have a nude beige lippie color they love??

Almost finished Sugar Rush. Was a really good sports romance. Then I have no idea what I’m reading next. May look at my TBR and pick something old.
Paris in Love by Eloisa James is on sale. This was a great read.
Fabi, later I will be ready. I am gonna set aside the Nora Roberts. Not because it’s bad, but because I’m just not in a CR feel. If I were, it’d be consumed by now because it’s so good.
Jan, I loved the second, Ethan’s book. He was just such a good gut but broken.
Damn it… I really wanted a bully. I’m so bummed to hear that Never Sweeter fell short of the mark.
No idea what I’m gonna read now…
IMHO, best bully books were the Falling away series by Penelope Douglas.
For a bully book I really enjoyed The Nature of Cruelty by LH Cosway. Though I know it wasn’t for everyone.
Wild Reckless I think fits it. One of my favorites last year.
Oh, and Unlocked by Courtney Milan. Though this takes place years after the bullying.
Lisa – Jason Momoa and ANY of the Hemsworths are definitely droll worthy….just saying. Jason and Chris can definitely rock a ‘mun’.
Bully books… *cracks fingers* Bully is hands down my favorite.
Wild Reckless by Ginger Scott
Dominic by LA Caset
The Duff by Kody Keplinger (Way better than the movie)
Bully Me by C.E. Starkweather
Devoured by Emily Snow
Hooked on the Game by CM Owens
Empire by Rachel Van Dyken
Then the best hands down ever stepbrother book ever, Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines. OMG, he was SUCH a jerk!
Darker ones:
Fear Me by BB Reid
Corrupt by Penelope Douglas
Bev – Inspiring mentions on the bully book list. I was blown away when I saw that you listed Dominic by LA Casey! I really LOVE that series and I would have never thought to mention it in a bully list, but you are so very, very right! He totally was!
Also ditto for putting in the Eagle Elite Series by Rachael Van Dyken! Except, just checking here, but Elite was the first book and Empire is the latest which I am showing in pre-order. So I thought maybe you meant Elite, when Nixon first meets Trace and gives her hell? (Another Epic Series I love despite it’s stretching the bounds of reality often. It is so entertaining that I couldn’t care less that he just got shot and is just shaking it off like it’s not much more than a punch in the face!)
Excellent bully lists, I’m now going that direction to ease out of my post KA book mourning! Thanks all!
Sorry!!! TESSA not BEV! They were both really good lists and I got confused who I was talking to there. I’m going to go read now. Peace! Night group out…
Night Grace.
FLT
Today was Ildiko’s wedding day, and if she managed not to retch on herself or a guest, she’d consider the entire event a resounding success. Radiance by Grace Draven
I’m finally reading it. Thanks to Maryse’s reminder in this latest list and Tessa motivating me to copy her reading next idea.
I think it was MichelleS whose recommendation landed it on my tbr and I’ve kept it on my carousel ever since.
Tessa, I’m at 11% and it started out good from page 1. Have you started it?
FLT.
“The street tried to ease her heart, with its hushed heat and shaded old stone, and Jess braced warily against it.”
-A Wish Upon Jasmine by Laura Florand.
I am really enjoying her books right now. Not a lot of reading time but they let me slip off to France for a bit every day.
Thanks!
I will have to check those out. I have read a few of them but most of them don’t sound too familiar!
Fabi, I’m starting it today. I was so tired last night that I looked at my tablet, sighed and went to sleep. lol Today, though, for sure. I am awake (ish)!
Grace, my pleasure. No worries on the name thing. I’ve done it too many times to complain. 😛 Ask anyone here. Bully books are my biggest love of all the contemporary romances. The angst they build… *sighs* Oh and I forgot an obvious one. Paper Princess. Gah, that book was good. Oh, and see that post! Proof I was tired. Yep, I meant Elite. 🙂 Oh, he was such an jerk at the beginning. I have more, I just have to let my brain wake up still. It’s not even 8amhere yet, and I still need my second coffee.
First Line Thursday: “F*#k.” (Dirty by Kylie Scott). I’m at 42% and liking it so far. I know someone here said they didn’t like the heroine, but I like her! She’s snarky!
I started and finished Lust Thy Neighbor. It was a nice, light read, with very low angst level.
First Line Thursday….’I was working part time in a five-and-dime
My boss was Mr. McGee’ Raspberry Beret by Prince. RIP
Shocked, stunned and saddened….
Awww DG! I know! So shocked. Just listened to a nice long tribute to him on the radio….so many great songs! RIP Prince
So sad!
Starting Dirty by Kylie Scott….so my FLT is same as Jean’s…
FLT: “I’m not sure I wanna be saved, just sayin’.” Bounty, by Kristen Ashley. I’m at 37% – loooong book.
**clapping hands & doing a little jig *** some of you are reading Radiance! Fabi – wasn’t wedding just hilarious? I love how hideous she is! Snort! She’s beautiful!!! LOL.
MichelleS I’m at 19% and can’t believe how good it is. I mean, right from page 1 it’s interesting and intriguing. Just…just.. fantastic. *knocks self upside the head* I know better than to put off your recs. I sometimes think I suffer from book induced ADD, I have a hard a hard time staying focused and am easily distracted by new shinies.
I’m loving the heck outta Radiance but still jealous of Jean and Ela reading Dirty. <– don't people call that a first world problem? Spoiled rotten.
Same FLT as Fabi. Seriously, today I’ve read just the first line, and felt accomplished. However, tonight, I’ll be reading like crazy! (I hope)
WHEW!! *falls on fainting couch and cuddles Manny*
Sooooo, I did it. I gave my notice for work. Spending 5 to 7 hours a day in school 5 days a week, coming home and doing 3 to 4 hours of work, and then staying up to do homework is just too much for me. Add to that very little reading time (BOO!!!!) and hardly any time to connect with you guys and I am just in a rotten place.
That being said…FLT!!
“Bodies were my business.” ~ The Mistake I Made by Paula Daly. I’m really liking it so far! 😀
I’m so happy you’re back Amy… I can’t believe the schedule you were maintaining!!! That’s intense and so hard on you.
I’m in a bit of a book funk too. Bounty was great. I DNF’ed Dirty (Hey, did I just invent a verb?) I might come back to Dirty in a little while and give it another go, but I, umm, got bored with it so I’m taking a break. I know, I know. But I call ‘em like I see ‘em. Don’t let it put you off. Read it yourself and see what you think.
Someone mentioned LaNora (Roberts) so I dug out some of my old paperbacks. Remember Montana Sky? (Hey, if you’re still awake Grace, you might like it.)
FLT (altho’ it’s Friday here LOL) Being dead didn’t make Jack Mercy less of a son of a bitch.
BTW it’s not one of her paranormals even tho that line sounds like it could be. It’s a romance slash suspense.
Cheryl…maybe you could put it over a pinky-nude lipstick or lip stain? If you want a TRUE nude, try MAC Fresh Brew. It’s one of my favorite straight-up nude colors with no hint of pink whatsoever, at least on me. And EVERYTHING tends to turn pink on me so that should tell you something. 😉
Holy moly, Jean wins the FLT award today. *hands bubblegum martini to Jean and squeezes her* Miss you lady.
Jan…I’m going to throw some love out for Bev’s rec of Jellicoe Road and say you should give it a shot if you’re in a book funk. It’s different and really good, and I still find myself thinking of it months later. 😉
Can y’all believe I started crying on my way to school today when a song popped up on my playlist and made me think of Cruel and Beautiful?!? It wasn’t even a 5-star read for me and yet it STILL makes my heart clench. The song’s music isn’t melancholy but the words…oh man…Drew…
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1GU8Ekk8Pbs
@ 4:03 “And every time anybody speaks your name, I still feel the same, I ache, I ache, I ache inside.” GAH!!
OMG Amy that song hurts my heart badly… thank you.
Amy do you mean the Melina Marchetta book? Yeh, I’m familiar with it. (Hey, Marchetti’s an Aussie!). I also love her other books Looking For Alibrandi and Saving Francesca. The pop culture refs in them are a bit dated now, but still terrific books. I think she has more recently written some YA fantasies, but I couldn’t get into those.
Yep, that’s the one, Jan! It was just so emotional after a certain point…in other words, perfect. 😉
Amy, glad to hear you’re giving yourself some breathing room.
OK I’ve started Radiance. See what all the love is about. So far, so good. 🙂
I’m up! I’m up! Prince!! What??? Oh man, that’s terrible. I just keep getting older every day! Why did no one tell me this would happen?
Jan130 – I was asleep. My husband is cutting me off at midnight. For healing purposes. I had surgery just a few weeks ago, and yesterday the Doc had to fiddle with the wound (which was ouchie) so hubby made me go to sleep for my own sake. (Although, I think the Tylenol with Coedine had more to do with my compliance than his very good advice.)
Amy – Jellicoe Road is happening. I was intrigued by it when it was being discussed way back when, but I got sidetracked. I’m ok with a format that leaves me wondering while I move forward picking up pieces as I go. Your right about that hitting a reset when I’m in trying to come out of a funk.
Unfortunately, things keep happening when I’m sleeping! I’m being sucked into Radience. Of course, I’m loaded up already, but this is why I come here after all.
Jan130 – Heh, Heh, Heh! Radience! You were posting that as I was writing it! Soul Sisters! Soul Sisters!
Let me know how it goes for you.
LOL Grace. Our book tastes seem to be pretty parallel.
Just finished Dirty and really enjoyed it. Loved the h……she had some great comebacks!!
First line Friday:
‘I can’t believe all the things people say
Am I black, am I white, am I straight, am I gay’
Prince Rogers Nelson 1958-2016
Oh Lisa! *sniff sniff*
Amy! Missed you girl! Glad you are able to clear up some of your time especially for books and us (it’s what’s most important after all!)
So, I finished Dirty. Um, yeah…..
Wow Jean, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you NOT rave about a book. Guess I’m going to move this one down on my tbr.
Radiance, all I have to say is, potatoes. 🙂 I’ve been laughing a lot through it and I’m only at 36%.
Oh YAY!!! You guys are loving it?! Very cool…
Potato larvae – haaaa
I’m at 53% and honestly loving it. It is so refreshing. Unlike anything I’ve read recently.
They’re both so beautiful within their own species, but to each other, not so much. Brings to mind Hominids.
Yep Fabi, just wasn’t feeling it for some reason. I loved the h….she was snarky and different, but did not connect with the H at all. Maybe because the whole book was her pov. I liked it, didn’t love it.
Now, I think I’m jumping on the Radiance bandwagon! Need something different!
Yippeee. I hope you love it.
Jean! I’m reading Dirty and am not feeling it either, I think you influenced my mood towards this book!
Ladies who read The Passage, does it have a cliffy? Don’t want to get into it since book 3 is to be released…
I’m sorry Ela! I really wanted to love it!
I will never forget the potato scene. I’m pretty sure I peed my pants. I may jump over to book two, Eidolon, because I’m distracted by your comments about Radiance, and Bounty is taking me forever to read. I like the h & H, but it’s so complicated with her back story. And I keep wondering if I really need to read those parts or just skim over them. Might be time to see what Brishen & Ildiko are up to.
You guys! I am loving Radiance. Only at 20% but, yeah, don’t want to put it down! And yes, I will never look at a potato the same again!
Yes, Sherlock.
*rubs hands together *
*insert evil laugh*
Amy, I kept thinking of Jellicoe Road at odd random moments too.
M’kay, time to catch up…
Fabi…thank you! Some breathing room is what I need badly right now. That, and some girl time with y’all. 😀
Grace…yay for Jellicoe Road!! How are you liking it so far?
Jean…you are SO right. Books and all y’all ARE important to me! I’ve missed reading and hanging out with you guys so freaking much. SO freaking much.
Maryse…I’m hoping to be back here a lot more once I’m completely finished with work. Next week will be my last one! I’ll miss it but not enough to keep at it while in school. Oh! And when you read Cruel and Beautiful (WHEN, not IF) you will see why that song had me in tears. 😉
*snort* Maryse said “hard on” twice… 😛
Bev…right? Did you see that Grace was going to start it??? I expect a *happy JR dance* from you now…
