<— HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY!!! We have some brand new great-looking books that just went live (70+), and that one to the left wants to hurt my heart… and I want to let it!! 😉
WEDNESDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! L.J. SHEN’S LATEST IS LIVE & super-bargain priced!!! The End Zone HE’S HER ROOMMATE… and she’s now his fake girlfriend. 😉 “He’s a walking, talking cliché. The Adonis quarterback with the bulging biceps and harem of fangirls trailing behind him on campus like a stench you can’t get rid of. Sadly, that’s also the reason she can’t stay away from him. Well, that and the fact that they’re roommates...” ➔ ➔ ➔
P.S. KRISTEN ASHLEY’S LATEST ROCK CHICK IS LIVE!!!!!!! Rock Chick Reborn (Rock Chick Series Book 9) ➔ ➔ ➔
“…long ago, Shirleen made her choice. It affected who she was and would always be. She decided to settle for what she had and not want more. She had good friends. She was raising two fine young men who weren’t hers, but she loved them anyway.
She was good.
And then Moses Richardson crashed into her life, literally…and deliberately…”
Don’t forget to check out yesterday’s ➔ Monday Earlybird Book Releases list <— 15 books snuck in early, and one on there is officially at the TOP of my TBR list. I. CAN’T. WAIT!!!! Some of us are scared to read it, but that just makes me wanna read it more. 😉
My blurb jolt list today? The Birthday List (she’s grieving her husband, and completing his birthday list of things he wanted to do most, and then there’s the man that delivered the news of her husband’s death. *my heart!!!*), The Boy and His Ribbon (Pepper Winters!! This is actually from yesterday’s earlybird list – the one I was telling you about – and OMG I can’t tell if it’s a psych-thriller, or if it’s a heartbreaker… but that blurb gave me the ultimate jolt!), Once Upon A Time (very clever way to blurb this one! A “princess” married to a “prince” that she escapes from and she hides away and works in a bar… The prince wanted his princess back because he couldn’t take his throne without her. Until a man walked into her bar one day, one who was frankly not a handsome prince. He was the last man on Earth the princess should have fallen in love with.“), Sparks Fly (Lauren Runrow’s latest – she’s one of four women that the prince must choose to marry, but she wants to marry for love…)
LET’S READ!!!! !!!!
P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart. While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye…”

Can you say–how about another drink? …Three drinks lead to getting a little closer–I slide a hand on her thigh and my fingertips under the hem of her skirt. Five drinks lead to a proposition–a hotel room and nothing more. After a mind-blowing night of the hottest sex I’ve ever had, I wake up alone and penniless…“
- The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air) by Holly Black <— BACK ON THE LIST ’cause Robyn also loved it like crazy and says this is one of her favorites!!

Tessa: Cruel Prince – FAE! BULLY! FANTASY WORLD! So, just pure catnip written really well with an awesome plotline.

Morning! *throws first one glitter*
Whew… That was close, I was scared… I haven’t been first in a while. *giggle* Thanks as always, Maryse, you’re the bestest!
Sleeping With Monsters…*squee* I was finally able to start late last night…and now I am dragging tail in a big way, someone want to write me a late note for work today???
Good morning! *twirls in Grey’s glitter and basks in glow of the new shinies*
I love the sound of the “royal” themed ones.
Dear Other World – the Book World, the one with all the words, needed Grey more than you did last night. So, please excuse her from Adulting today. Thank you for your patience. She will return when she feels like it!
Welp! Kristen Ashley just gave us a ROCK CHICK surprise! It just went live… I haven’t read ANY of the Rock Chicks yet but I hear (by some) that these are her best.
OMG, I can’t believe this! I was just looking over the Rock Chick books this past weekend to make sure I hadn’t missed anything because I’ve been jonesing for them. It’s Shirleen and Moses’ book. This is AWESOME!!
YAY NAY!!!!!!! 😀
Unfair advantage, you all wake up earlier.
I had 3 pre orders come in….now need to read them.
P.s. I need coffee.
I can’t believe you haven’t read any of the Rock Chick books! *tisk tisk*
LOL Kandace!! I know… but look at it this way. I still have a whole old-school KA series to indulge in. 😉
I never did finish the rock chick series. I think I stopped at 3 or 4. I’ve since learned her books need to be spaced out 🙂 I’m reading the Colorado series now and doing just that. Off to check the rest of the list!!
I’m reading Cruel Prince, because… FAE!! Yay. I went in blind & have no clue who the love interest is supposed to be. They are all bullies so far!
I loved the Rock Chicks. I consider them “KA light & fun & sexy”.
Omg the Boy and His Ribbon! I bawled you guys. It’s not the usual dark read Pepper Winters puts out, but it’s so so much feels. My heart couldn’t take it, book 2 I need you ASAP! This will definitely be in my top 10 reads this year already. That and Cruel Prince.
I just finished the Of Love and Madness series. It was so gritty. Billy was a nightmare and Katie was a stupid fool. The only flaw was we missed 20 years of angst. And this was loaded with angst. The second book was devastating. The subject matter was dicey and I’m not sure love is that strong. It’s definitely a top angst series. I give it 4.5 Stars – the .5 is in the missing years.
The first Rock Chick book is on sale on kindle at the moment if there’s anyone who hasn’t joined the party yet. (It’s called Rock Chick LOL.)
I love that Sharon. .5 because of missing years. I think we’ve all felt that way before. 🙂
MichelleS, I’m so happy you are reading that!! *does happy dance*
The Boy and His Ribbon ends with a ch??!! Well crap!!
Just finished Our Unscripted Story. I forget who said the blurb sounds great and it’s only .99 cents, but you were so right! I loved it. The story followed the MC’s who met as teens. There was such angst wondering if they would end up together and along with that I also had such foreboding that something really bad was going to happen. I think it was the cover that started that thought. I was really hoping it wasn’t going to be one of “those” books. You know the one’s Amy and Maryse love. I’m back and forth between 4.5-5 stars. Couple things were a bit of a stretch for me.
TOO MUCH AWSOME BOOK TEMPTATION HERE IN THE COMMENTS!!!!
*squirrel*!!!
Goimg to library after work with kid #2… Keep your fingers crossed. I had to press pause last night for a quick proof… But Sleeping With Monsters is officially back on…*throws Wednesday glitter*
Oooh, Cheryl! I bought Our Unscripted Story and it’s sounds just as gut wrenching as I’d want it to be. I’ll have to move it up on my list! So many books I want to read right now!
Loved the list about love stories after plane crashes/ boat accidents etc. but you missed… The Mountain Between Us by Charles Martin. Soooo good. ( although the movie adaptation was horrible).
Thank you Maria!!!! I’ll add it! YAY!!! 😀
Holy moly, The Boy and His Ribbon sounds GUT-WRENCHING. I clicked it, but I’m going to have to work up the courage to read it. 😕
I clicked Our Unscripted Story as well after Cheryl’s comments. Angst and Uncertainty? Yes, please!!
Amy for The Boy and his Ribbon, I was just told it’s got that FORBIDDEN angle. I’m scared. And titillated. LOL! Have no clue WHAT the forbidden aspect is.
Anyone who has/is reading What He Doesn’t Know…is the whole thing with him supposedly falling in love with her when he was 17/18 and she was 12/13 bothering you? I’m having trouble getting any feels going because of that…
Maryse great list, I wanted to let you know Bink Cummings new book came out in the Texas MC series “Hopelessly Devoted”. Great author, that has a KA feel she is one of those that I automatically one click on her books!
Thank you LisaKay!!! 😀 I’ll post the reading order!! 😀 *hug*
Tessa – I’m almost done. Talk about palace intrigue! So much back stabbing happening. Only in fantasy books can this much crap happen!! Loving it.
The Boy and His Ribbon does sound gut wrenching, but I think I’m going to wait until book 2 is released before reading it.
I 2nd that Cheryl waiting for book 2!
Too many books I want to read “right now”!
But there’s a cliffhanger Maryse! Do you know when book 2 is coming out? I want to read it so bad!
Oh my, Maryse…gut-wrenching AND forbiddeny? That is gonna work us over.
Do we have any idea when book 2 will be out? Anyone?
Heh, Jean and I were thinking the same thing at the same time. Imagine that. 😉
Yeah I’ve got that whole “too many books I want to read right now” thing happening too…….. *sighs*
Jean, June 5th for book 2.
Thanks Cheryl!
Instead of FLT, I am doing:
“Random Lines From Chapter 1 Because They Sound Interesting Thursday” 😉
I mentally prepped for my first day at Wilson High School (population: 311), ready to take on the mantle of class slut or freak. Turned out ‘slut’ was available, but the title of ‘freak’ already belonged to someone else.
How to Save a Life by Emma Scott
Fingers crossed this one gives me my reading mojo back.
FLT: “If you’re going to be a nixie,” says the boy, “you need an ‘N’ name.” Hydraulic Level 5 by Sarah Latchaw
This book is flipping awesome. The cover and title are terrible as far as romance is concerned. I NEVER would have picked it up because it sounds sci-fi or adventure-y, but one of my FB peeps was adamant to the point of threatening to buy it for me. It’s about childhood best friends who fall in love, get married, and then he leaves her when she’s only 21 to find himself/pursue his dreams etc (not clear on that yet). The book picks up where he’s coming back to town for his sister’s wedding (the h’s bff) and he’s now a famous author, *and* he’s bringing his editor/gf with him. Oh the angst! It’s one big heartache wrapped in really clever humor.
Good morning, lovely ladies!!
I finally read Lock and Key, the biker book by Cat Porter that’s been on my tbr for years, and I loved it! Lots of yummy, sexy biker brooding and grit without being over the top. And now I’m moving on to the next one.
FLT:
“I’m dead.”
Random and Rare (Lock and Key, #2) by Cat Porter
Good morning!
FLT: “There are no facts, only interpretations.” Fearless (Dartmoor #1), by Lauren Gilley
Really loving it, just wish I could speed read 738 pages!!!!
R, still haven’t seen Love, Simon. But on commute listening to this discussion of it. Love this show.
https://www.npr.org/podcasts/510282/pop-culture-happy-hour
It was amazing. I think they did an excellent job capturing the book. Really want to see it again.
R! I have that book! I keep meaning to read it. How funny. I’ve never seen it on here.
I’d never even heard of it! I’m loving the heck out of it thought. It’s exactly my brand of humor and it’s making me all achy at the same time!
Maybe should try it.
Hey, Maryse, Tessa, Amy, Leslie, MichelleS etc etc etc….
Read it with us. Just for the hell of it.
Come on. A just for the hell of it book.
bev… what do you want us to read? I’m backtracking through the comments…
R. I read Hydraulic Level 5 when it was a fanfic. Loved it then and agree that the title is terrible.
There’s some additional outtakes.
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9662502/1/Hydraulic-Level-Five-Companions
I looked up HL5, and I have to agree the title is not very appealing but I actually DO like the cover. Then again, covers with water on them in almost any capacity seem to grab me. 😉
FLT:
“Ten years ago. On the eighth night, she decided to talk to him.” The End Zone by LJ Shen.
Quick read.
I do like the cover, just paired with the title, it doesn’t suggest romance. If she ever comes out with the 3rd book (the story wraps in the second from what I hear) she should really consider a new cover or at least a quote or tagline that sells it.
FLT
“The smell of cinnamon woke me before my alarm could sound.” ~ What He Doesn’t Know by Kandi Steiner (from the first chapter since the first line of the prologue is the same as the blurb)
I’m getting over the age thing which was bothering me earlier because it is making sense now.
Just checked out HL5! Looks good and I actually like the cover (not the title though).
The title fits once you get into it. The h is into extreme Colorado sports and the book title along with the title chapters are terms affiliated with rivers/rafting.
“The part before the beginning of the end…”
I’m reading Claire C. Riley’s “Beautiful Victim” (it’s stalker-scary. Psych-thriller for sure …like “You” but maybe even scarier… I’m 40% in – who knows if there will be a twist though).
My FLT is the same as Cheryl’s.
Bev, I finally read The Darkest Part of the Forest, and yeah, it was good. Not as good as The Cruel Prince, but good. 🙂 I guess that means she’s improving as she writes, which is always a good thing, but darn if some authors get complacent and stop improving. I also DNF’d Coldest Girl in Coldtown because OMG, the MCs sucked. She was Darwin award-winning, her ex was a douche, and the vampire was just boring.
I’d BR that Hydraulic book “just for the hell of it”
🙂
It sounds good despite awful title and totally not fitting a romance novel cover.
I would BR it too. It’s been on my tbr since 2013 and I’ve almost started it a couple of times. Sounds majorly like something I’d love!
The title does make sense on a couple different levels once you start reading it. The definitions of river terms that the author gives for each chapter also relate to what the MC’s are experiencing in real life.
FLT ~ In order to find myself, I must first destroy what I have become. ~ Sleeping With Monsters by Amelia Hutchins.
FLT: Moments. Humans always remember the moments.
The Silent Waters by Brittainy Cherry
I love this woman’s writing – why have I not read more of her?
Lisa! I love that book! And yes, I love all of her books!
You all let me know if and when.
That’s good to know Tessa, cause I really liked that one. Read Coldest girl, but just ok for me.
Ha Tessa I’m read bev’s rec of Holly Black’s Darkest Forest right now!
Great minds lol
I also DNF the Coldest Girl
The world building and the vivid imagery that overtook my imagination while reading The Crulest Prince was so amazing! Gahhh book 2 is just too far way…
Poo
Lisa–you NEED to read The Gravity of Us. That book was everything!

Melinda I finished your Pick4Me last night and really like Slammed by
C Hoover – but I should not have read it after right after Robinson’s beautiful perfection aka The Pebble Jar!

FLT part 2:
In the overgrown grass of Mount Auburn Cemetary, my best friend Holly held out her arms.
Dawn by CN Crawford
The End Zone was cute and sweet, but I’d have loved if it had been longer. 🙂 That said, it had at the VERY end a special epilogue to that story, but more VICIOUS! Their son, Vaughn, at 15! *jumps in exceitement*
Jean, it is a long book, but just sit back and enjoy the ride. It’s so worth it.
I’m reading my pick-for-me picked by Tessa from my tbr list. It’s Night Broken, #8 in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. I’m on a bit of a Briggs roll. Yep, it’s time I caught up with Mercy and Adam. I’ve nearly finished it actually, and it’s really gripping. HATE Adam’s ex-wife, though. What a bee-arch!!
First line: The phone rang while I was elbow-deep in sudsy water.
Hahaha. It does get better……….
My favorite first line is from book ten. ‘I died first, so I made cookies.’ lol
I need Manny!
New FLT ~ He was eight years old when his obsession began. ~ Painted Faces by LH Cosway, my PFM book this month.
I heard about the end of that book, Grey! I don’t know what happens, but…
And I LOVED Painted Faces!!
Look at you speedy readers, finishing one book and starting another so you have two FLT’s.
*pfft*
Showoffs.
😛
Painted Faces… *sigh* LOVED that book!!
Haha Tessa. I’m not quite up to that one yet, but it IS a great first line.
I’m gonna do a second first line too (that sounds weird) cos I’ve finished Night Broken now. OMG it’s a really long one. *snorts* Dirty minds.
The crocodile of schoolgirls neatly uniformed in dark blue that was making its way along Great Pulteney Street in Bath at the spanking pace set by Miss Osbourne, one of its teachers, was proceeding from Miss Martin’s School For Girls on the corner of nearby Daniel and Sutton streets in the direction of the Pulteney Bridge and the city itself on the other side of the river.
PHEW!! Yep, that’s really one sentence.
It’s from Simply Love, a HR by Mary Balogh. A reread.
