Something Beautiful AND Before We Were Strangers are my own personal *squees* of the day. Two of my favorite authors, and two stories that sound like they’ll be totally up my alley. I think many of us here will be buddy reading “Strangers” today, right? That’s the one I’m jumping in on, first, then. YAY ME!!! Of course, I will be reading both, but since so many of you mentioned wanting to start Strangers, I wanna read it with you guys!!
Kirsten: Had an early read of Before We Were Strangers. Loved it. Her best book yet.
Anne: Oh are we going to BR Before We Where Strangers?
Ela: Before We Were Strangers BR!!!
Grey: I’m in for the buddy read of Before We Were Strangers! I fell asleep early last night and haven’t started anything else…

Just finished Hawthorne & Heathcliff… BWWS is loaded and I’m ready to start!
Maryse, thanks for the fantastic list…there are so many here that have my One-click finger twitchy!
Yay Grey!! It is my absolute pleasure. This is one of my favorites posts to make… it’s a treasure hunt!! 😀
BWWS? Lol Grey!
My finger has been twitchy since Sunday! Tyrant and Cocky Bastard to start the list!
Great list Maryse! So many of our faves….all it’s missing is KA and perhaps TF??? Which reminds me!!!! When is Never Never 3 coming out????
Slow work day for me so I get to spend most of today reading Before We Were Strangers!! YAY!!!!! 😀
I saw that blurb for The Wife earlier this morning when I was browsing through the recommendations page on Amazon, and that was an *immediate* one-click, especially at .99! “The Wife. The Mother. The Truth.” *rubbing hands together* I didn’t read the two reviews ’cause I want to go in completely blind.
So far it’s Maryse, Grey and me…who else is reading BWWS today?
Amy OMG that “The Wife” one has me BIG time!!!!
Hang on… *checks date*
😯
One more week until we get more MASON!!!! I didn’t realize it was so close!!
LOL!!! I need to catch up… like… by starting. *snort* 😛
I’m enjoying BWWS… They’re playing the same game we did a couple days ago… M…F…K… *giggle*
Hey girlies!! How are u all? I thought I would share after going through 4weeks worth of maryse’s blog that I missed I decided to go with bloodline war by Tracy tappan and omg I loved it!! Defo my new vampire series that I love just thought I would let u all know oh and I’m already on book 2
Ahhhh now I get what BWWS is! Totally BR’ing with y’all and of course I one-clicked “The Wife”, hopefully it’s a cheating book!!!! 🙂
Shey Stahl just released a book called Awakened!! I am rather intrigued by the blurb!!
Laura… I’ve been hearing about that one more and more these days.
Thank you SO much for recommending it. Now I’m for sure going to TBR it. 🙂
You guys!!! I am in book heaven! I started Before We Were Strangers last night as soon as it arrived on my Kindle and finished it this morning and wow! WOW!! What a book! Its the best book I’ve read this year. I cried, laughed, swooned and fell in love. Matt is perfect! I am so in love with him! This is Renee’s best book to date. You all need to read it ASAP! I wish I could start it all over again. More than 5 stars for me. PERFECTION!!
Oh YAY!! I’m posting this up there! Thanks Anne!!!
OMG what a list, Maryse 😉 You keep serving us good stuff every single week! It’s book overdose in my world right now 😉 But I’m loving it. Forsaken is the first one I will attack 🙂
Thanks for the review, Anne! 🙂 I’m writing it up 😀 Sounds good.
Ahh On Paper by Shae Scott was amazing! Who doesn’t love a story about a writer falling for a book nerd? The feels in this book are incredible!
Thank you Maryse! Can’t wait for you to read it. Its one of those books that will stay with you for a long time 🙂
Marit you need to read it! Its such a wonderful story and so well written.
I am reading Newly Exposed next but seriously I can’t stop thinking of Matt and Grace. *Swoon*
Finishing up Louder Than Love and can’t wait to start BWWS!
Just got the Love Me With Lies series by Tarryn Fisher. Only $0.99 each so less than $3 for the entire series. I think its time for me to finally read it!
Also got The Wife. Its sounds very intriguing.
Location 35 of BWWS, guess who is quoted? Here’s a couple of hints…first name starts with M and ends with E and she goes *SQUEEEEEEE!!!*
Oh that’s right maryse I was reading a KA book which I have read before and it’s totally dedicated to you! I was like no way I know maryse how cool is that lol she gave you your own alpha and everything!
I’m jealous Anne that you get to read that series for the first time! I spent the entirety of the second book (DON’T read the blurb for it yet!) absolutely relishing the misery of a certain someone. I had no sympathy. ‘Cause I’m rotten like that. 😛
Just finished Tyrant and it was so good!!! Very satisfying ending!!! I’m going to read End of Day next I think…unless I squirrel to something from this list!!
Laura, there’s also a Mambo Maryse in EIT courtesy of Karina Halle. 😉
Amy I won’t read the blurb. Thanks for the heads up 😉 I am excited to read this series. Oh and you are reading BWWS!! Yaay!
Niki I agree! I liked the ending too.
Laura what KA book is it??
Amy, I hated that witch so much especially what she did with her *spoiler* at the beginning I wanted to strangle her so bad! I called her every name under the sun! Yes, I spoke to my ipad and quite loudly I might add just in case the c*nt didn’t hear me the first time!!!!!!!!
Anne, you well love that series! It’s unforgettable!
I’m excited about Fallen Crest University, but surely not as excited as Tessa! Are you freaking out Tessa?
Don’t know whether to buddy read BWWS with you guys. I am being cheap, but I know I should just do it, especially after seeing Anne’s reaction! Damn…
Oh god I can’t remember which I one!! I think think! It was in the Colorado mountain series? Maryse? I know Amy she so bloody famous this maryse lol
Oh and Anne yes yes read love me with lie that series is one of my all time favourite books and I loved the second book but not because of a certain person more because it really gives the hurts it’s so good!!
Jean I really can’t wait till the new FCH since u all made me read it and the last ones not fecking out!! U all still owe me for that btw
Y’all are so excited about BWWS, you’ve sold me. I’m going to start it now.
Lol Laura! Tessa “made” me read it too!
Tyrant had one of my favorite endings EVER!!!!!
I downloaded Fallen Crest High just for Tessa and if I don’t like it????
You guys are making me more and more excited about reading the LMWL series! I think I am going to start today 🙂
Ela I agree! I loved that ending! It put a smile on my face.
I hope you all love BWWS as much as I did!
Anne get ready for some real angst and try not to get too drunk or hurt your reading device BECAUSE YOU. WILL. WANT. TO. HURT. SOMETHING. I wouldn’t be surprised if you read all three books by tomorrow with no sleep, either. I HATED waiting for the next book!
LOL! Yep Laura, I have my very own Colorado Mountain Man. Named Ham. And I love ham.
LOL!!! 😉
Finished Hawthorne and Heathcliff this morning. Very sweet story. Trying to get some work done today but DYING to start Before We Were Strangers or Cocky Bastard or Tyrant or Undeniably You… teetering back and forth. Thinking BWWS. esp. with Anne saying she read it in one night! Sounds unputdownable!! So many books. Thanks Maryse for the recs!!!
Wow, I just had to one clicked BWWS…. Can’t wait to get home to start it…
*gives an evil giggle* Oh, I got FCU pre-ordered the second I could. Just need to wait. I’ll scream when it’s on my tablet. 😛
Ela, if you don’t like it, you tell us and, good news, it was free. I never judge as far as someone not liking something I like. We’re all different people.
Laura, Jean. *blinks innocently* Me?
Non FCU, I’m finally reading Entice, Eagle Elite three. Why finally? I read one and two either last year or two years ago and adored it, but still haven’t read three. I even read Bang, Bang, but not three. *shakes head*
Tessa, I always wanted to read that series. Good?
I am trying to finish up some of my series too….just finished the Hades Hangmen series and LOVED IT!!!!
Reading Perfect Chaos now (spinoff from Tear Asunder series) and whoa….this is some great sh!t!
It is! Also, the first book has my jerk hero catnip thing, though it starts in High School. By three, it’s beyond that, and it doesn’t feel the same as the first. However, that’s okay, because it’s really good still. OH! And the hero in book one is such a bully. OMG. See why I like it?
Oh, I bought the first of the Hades Hangman series when it was on sale. Still haven’t gotten Tear Asunder. :/ One of those, one day I will things.
Oh Matt and Grace… I sense the proverbial shoe is about to drop… But for now I’m riding the wave of love…
Tyrant will definitely be next! Then Cocky Bastard… Maybe then I will delve into the LMWL series…
By the way. Did we ever find out when Never Never part 3 by CH & TF is coming out?
Well, expected publication now says 2016. :/ I like CH with mysteries. However, this long wait will make me forget everything. Gah!
Tyrant picked up the pace in the second half and I enjoyed it a lot too – glad I stuck with it! BWWS is very tempting…still wavering on what I want to read next though.
Glad to hear about Tyrant!
Ela, definitely tell us if you don’t like a rec. Unless it’s Written in Red.
Omg Bev, too funny. That’s awful. I don’t know whether to laugh or frown.
OK. Bringing this here to the new post. MAAAARYSE!!
WATCH. PRINCESS. BRIDE!
Alright, I’m a dork but if we can we all should try and live watch it here this weekend, or week. I think it’d be fun. We could eat nutella. Well Maryse could give someone a sponge bath. =-O
*whispers behind hand to Fabi*
I know I didn’t know what to make of that either. Like TMI, Maryse, T.M.I. And did you see Amy’s hooker heels? Mmhmm.
Fabi, Tyrant was good but I’m still not having the omigod 5* reactions I keep seeing. It was a really good story and glad I got answers, I just did not connect for some reason *shrugs*
Bev! HA!
Going back to tbr instead of spending money…now I just have to narrow that down…gah if I read a chapter tonight I’ll be lucky!
Finishing Cocky Bastard and then I’m on board to buddy read BWWS and then probably The Wife!!!
Michelle glad to hear that about Tyrant. I need to finish King; I stopped reading at about 50%. I think I just wasn’t in the mood for something so dark.
I just finished Tyrant. For me, King was 4.5 stars, and Tyrant is 4. I loved the grittiness of King, and while everything gets resolved very nicely in Tyrant, I missed how much of a jerk he was. You know when the bad guy is suddenly all crazy over the heroine? That’s when you lose me. But it was still really good. I cried at 98%. When you’re in the mood for gritty, like the MC type books, then I would still recommend King & Tyrant. And I loved the HEA and epilogue.
Now, it’s time to get back to Chronicles of the Warlands. I’m in a Keir kind of mood. 🙂
Wait, what? Bev, we were not surrendering our prisoner for anything less than Maryse reading FCH, remember? The whole Princess Bride thing is just an obvious everyone who loves romance or comedy should see it. Or read it. Either one.
*pssssstttt* Ela, don’t say anything negative about WiR…Bev will get all mama were-bear on us. 😛
And what is this about me wearing hooker heels? I haven’t worn them since the last time you brobdingnagians were making fun of us short people!
Late supper and then back to BWWS!! 😀
“brobdingnagians”. I can’t even pronounce that. What the heck is it?
Cheryl…I know you like to run, so have you tried the 30-20-10 interval runs? Normal pace for 30 seconds, ramp it up to a fast pace for 20 seconds (a pace you normally wouldn’t be able to sustain for a longer distance) and then an insanely fast pace for 10 seconds, then repeat that 30-20-10 interval 8 to 10 times back to back. Holy crap, it is intense and you WILL want to quit, but if you can stick it out then it crams a great CV workout into a short 10 minutes!
Them’s BIG people, Fabi. 😉
Tessa, didn’t say release him, just that Maryse could bathe him while we watch the movie.
*thinks* Well, alright. However, no releasing until FCH or WiR is finished!
Loving The Opportunist! Caleb is *swoon* both past and present.
Tessa, I think like with the only in books we should add only on Maryse’s blog.
lol Sure… I’m the one who kept Q alive, remember? 😛
Finished Entice. It was pretty good. All the happies, though not as good as Elite. I have Entice and Ember, so eventually I’ll read those, however, Iron Traitor was at the library, so going back to that world. 🙂
Oh the angst!!! Caleb why? And Leah ugh I really don’t like her!
Here… *hands shot of Jäger to Anne*
And I have more where that came from when you need it. Not *if*, but WHEN. 😉
Oh Anne I’m so jealous your reading that series for the first time I just loved it so much! Update people on the community series by Tracy tappan I’m on book 2 purest of the breed and OMG it’s even better than bloodline war I really love it all its all vampires fae and demons half breads and all and it’s more modern like the way BDB is get them on the TBR’s
Amy – *pssssstttt* Ela, don’t say anything negative about WiR…Bev will get all mama were-bear on us” – uh, Bev killed Simon on the other thread. Yup. She picked Tate over Simon. Still standing here blinking into space over that one!!!
You killed BRAN!! BRAN.
I am definitely missing something! What’s WiR????? And why is Bev killing Simon??? Simon from?????????
Yay! I finally know one! WiR is “Written in Red”.
I know nothing about this “Simon” you speak of. LOL!
OH! Well thanks Maryse, I actually have that one on my list and why would I even speak of this book? I’m confused? Was that a heads up??
And why is Bran (don’t know who he is) being killed too????
I’m lost on the Simon, Bran and killing part too!
Amy, I have tried 30 second interval running: run normal pace and then 30 seconds ramped. I’ll try the 30-20-10 today. Sounds like an intense run, especially with the heat wave we’ve been having. 😉
Jealous of you reading The Opportunist Anne. I agree, I HATED Leah and the angst just keeps coming!!
Simon is the main hero in Written in Red, which Bev loves beyond words. We were all shocked she killed him. Bran is the father figure in the Mercy Thompson Books and the Alpha and Omega books. On the other thread we played a game, and someone had to be killed. Bran just had to die, but Simon. I still can’t believe that!
Who was Simon up against again? I still can’t believe he was killed. lol
Her choices were:
Simon Wolfguard
Charles Cornick
Tate Jackson
Exact quote!
Tate is Tate so f.
Charles is so much the care taking alpha. I love that so (Damn it!) Marry.
Gah! Simon. When we see him in more couple role may change this.
I do not want to press submit……
Yep that’s right. She killed Simon!
Ahhh, OK. I don’t know Charles. Thanks for the reminder. *mutters “Simon?”*
Alrighty then! Why not keep ’em all???? I haven’t been back to Mercy Thompson in so long it’s not even funny! I vaguely remember Bran.
That was the game, one each. One to marry, one to f, and one to kill. Sacrifices were made. Charles is from the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs.
Fabi, right? See why we were all shocked?
I haven’t read that series yet.
Oh yeah, still shocked. When Simon comes around…whoooeeee
LOL BWWS game!!!!!!!!!!
Ok ladies… here is my silly girl question for this morning… what is this BWWS you all keep speaking of?
I LOVE SIMON! No one hurts Simon! I can hardly wait for the next installment of WiR (biting nails!)
Anyone else finished reading The Fourth Debt… Holy Cow! I’m stressed out, nervous & I think I need a little break from these suspenseful getaways. Eek!
BWWS game?
Teri, BWWS is Before We Were Strangers. It’s up there under new releases. Fourth Debt, that was insane. Is your google search filled with torture words too now? The visuals were insane. The end, though, that didn’t get me worried. After the other stuff that has happened, that seemed like a no big deal thing, which says how insane those debts have been.
Teri BWWS is Before We Were Strangers 🙂
I laughed when Grace and Matt played that game cause you guys were playing it at the same time! It was so weird lol
Ok I seriously don’t like Leah! What is wrong with her? Poor little Estella! Loving Sam though 😀
Thank you Tessa and OMG! I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one looking up torture devices… I’d say it’s been an education, lol !!
I’m glad you’re not worried. I’ll worry for us all :-). I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds and if any ‘heads will roll’……..
Tessa in BWWS they play the marry,f,kill game too!
Before We Were Strangers is absolute perfection. I can’t stop crying. Lol. Poor Grace and Matt. One of the saddest stories I ever read. It just broke my heart. I don’t really like 2nd chance romances. Call me crazy but I find them too sad. All that wasted time! But this story sucked me right in from the beginning. The writing was beautiful. I love Renee Carlino. Huge fan!
Finished Cocky Bastard. Really enjoyed it, although I wish the ending could have been dragged out a little more.
Now starting BWWS, after my run!! 😉
Jen, I don’t like 2nd chance romances for the exact same reason. Life is short. It kills me to read about all the wasted time, all those great years gone. 🙁 Thanks so much for the feedback on BWWS. You’re the first one to mention its a sad story. I know to stay away from it now since those are not my thing.
I love all the sharing on Maryse’s blog!
*stands behind Bev with folded arms* yeah what about WIR nobodies can talk trash about WIR or I’m so on bevs team!! <—- she actually made me read it so I also blame her for the obsession as if I don't have enough ugh
Fabi, I would still highly recommend Before We Were Strangers! Don’t miss out!!
BWWS its sad but it has a happy ending. I like second chance romances because they give me hope. True love never dies and that’s just beautiful. BWWS is powerful because of that and yes they lost a lot of years but they found each other again and that just makes me happy. Not many people get a second chance or find true love which to me is much much sadder. Jen I am so glad you loved BWWS as much as I did! 😀
Laura, she’s the one who killed Simon, not me! I’d have killed Tate. I actually read Written in Red long before it was mentioned on this blog. 😛 It was one of those random Goodread suggestions. Just looked up when it was released, and had it at three stars? Weird. That’s the third one I’ve found where goodreads recorded the wrong star rating. :/
Vision in Silver is $10.99 Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I’m already complaining and I haven’t read the first book yet.
I hear ya Ela! This is one that I kicked, screamed & temper tantrumed over like a toddler all the way to the 1-click button. Woosh, glad I did!! Such a great book & series!
Anne, if you liked Leah I WOULD BE VERY VERY SURPRISED! There was a whole time line discussion on TF’s Lies fan page because with the back and forth with these books nobody could see how Leah got *spoiler* and the whole Rome thing etc. I finally gave up cause it still didn’t make sense!
Teri, maybe I should read the first book before complaining of other books in series pricing…lol
Ela I haven’t read that series either but $10.99? Ouch!
Just finished Dirty Red and WHAT?!?! Leah you b***h! I was not expecting that bomb she just dropped!! What? Now I am so confused!! Poor Caleb! Although yeah he played with Leah’s affections and I felt kinda sorry for her but still! Wow I am freaking out!! Need to start Thief right now!
Wow Amne, you are flying through those books!
YOU CANNOT FEEL SORRY FOR THE BITCH C*NT NASTY ASS!!!!!! NEVER!!!!!!! IT’S ALL ABOUT CALEB AND OLIVIA FOREVER AND ALWAYS!
NOW THIEF WILL TOTALLY ROCK YOU!
Have to rant for a moment: I did have Four Week Fiance on my tbr next list, but I feel like the author did a bait and switch. I was counting down the days till it’s release after reading the “teaser” novella, My Fake Fiance. Initially it said standalone book (still says this on GR) before it was released and then right before it was released it changed to say 2 book series with second book in september!! Ugh. Guess I should be happy the author was up front about it having a CH now…
Rant over, now off to run…
Ela, tell us how you really feel!! Hahahaha!
Go run off that frustration Cheryl!
Oh Ela believe me I felt sorry for her for like 2 seconds only and that was too much!
Jean I am loving them so much I can’t stop lol!
Remember Cheryl…30-20-10 and that frustration will be GONE! 😛
The marry-f-kill game was pretty funny in BWWS…Matt: “Your turn. Bill Clinton, Spike Lee, and me.” Grace: “Ha! That’s easy. F*** Bill, marry Spike, and kill you.” *snort*
See, I’m the opposite when it comes to second-chance stories…I LOVE the poignancy that results from all of that time apart because it makes me appreciate the reunion (if it happens) that much more. But if they were split up because the guy cheated then NO.
LOL Jean and Anne! And yes 2 seconds was 20 minutes too long! Ha!
Oh and how he said to Gracie…”I’d marry you”………sigh! Not finished yet, still reading although I have a really really bad feeling about her professor!
Oh come on Amy! We only LOVE when SHE cheats books because we all know it really wasn’t her fault, she was forced, pushed, and kicked to do it!!! 🙂
Lucky you Anne, some of us had to wait for Thief after the bomb that was dropped at the end of DR! But I loved the epilogue in Thief. It was so perfectly imperfect…then again, it is a Tarryn Fisher book so that is to be expected. 😉
Alright, time for a TMI topic…no deflowering pain for the h in books? /for reals? I distinctly remember saying GTFO me and putting a stop to it. No pain…HA!
Amy, “perfectly imperfect” is the perfect description for that epilogue!
No comment to your second statement! Lol!
Lol Amy. What I remember is “sh!t that hurts…hmmm not so bad now…that could almost start to fell g….oh, you’re done?”
*Exactly* Ela! 😛 When it is HER that cheats, I “get” it even if I don’t agree with it. Or at least I don’t hate her if she does. But HIM? Broken record here but J___ F’ing C____. I actually finally removed the author from my feed because that moniker popped up again the other day, and I can’t stand to see it one more time as if he is some awesome H. Yeah, yeah…I’m not being nice today. Whatever. I’m cranky.
ANY-ways…he cheated in a chapter with his POV, and he drunkenly grabbed the chick’s hand and said something along the lines of “you know this doesn’t mean anything, right?” Ugh, it would have been a little easier (maybe) if it was written where he blacked out before that happened and then picked back up the next morning. MAYBE. I would still despise him, but I don’t think I would HATE him as much as I still do to this day.
OMG the wait for Thief KILLED me, no not really since I’m still here, but no seriously it was horrifice!!!! And at that time we weren’t sure if we would get it or what would we get BECAUSE TF doesn’t like HEA *grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr* and who!
Omg Amy PAHLEAZE! I was afraid to say anything but the tears spilling down my cheeks should’ve clued to douchenoggle to F in! No I’m crying from joy so you can get your rocks off you dipshit!
I guess I remember my first time a tad too well??? Oh and then I and here I stress I IIIIIIIIIII had to take the bus home!!!!!!!!!!! The nerve! Then he wondered why he never ever got it from me again! Get a hint idiot!
FABI!! BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I’m dying here!! That was freaking awesome!!!
*tries to catch breath*
Okay…okay…*wheezing*…okay. *deep breath*
Come on Jean…we WANT your comment on that! 😛
LMFAO Fabi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT’S RIGHT WOMEN HAVE ALL THE CHEATING POWER (my opinion)!
Please don’t bring the f*&ker up and then he does what cause she’s what and I’m like WTF and then he takes for F*&(ing ever to apologize, make things right and all that other shit! *shaking my dam efin head* you DON’T GO AND DO THAT AFTER YOU CHEATED WHEN YOUR SUPPOSED LOVE OF YOUR LIFE IS NOT HER. OH I’M PISSED NOW, NO WONDER I NEVER READ THE SEQUEL
LOL Ela!! OMG, him making you take the bus right after…that’s just wrong on sooooo many levels!
Hmmm Amy I kinda remember it but it wasn’t to sore but you know after childbirth nothing I mean NOTHING is sore anymore compared to that battle!
Ok another update I’m on book 3 of the community series by Tracy tappan and HOOOOBOY this one has turned dark and is totally a oh feck book but it’s so good the emotions in this one are going to be killer and loads more is happening you know that way your adrenaline starts going cause you just know the answers and puzzles pieces coming together are coming!!! Seriously you guys need to read these book 3 so far my favourite and I’m not even halfway!
Seriously ladies! YOU NEED TO STOP WITH THE REC’S MY TBR WILL BE 3,000 BY TONIGHT AND MY LIBRARY WORTH MILLIONS (ok maybe only thousands) BUT STILL.
Yep, Amy THE DAMN FECKING BUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ela…I have a feeling we’re talking about the same book. 😉
He messes around while they are separated or not exclusive…I’ll probably think he’s a d!ck but I’ll still want them to be together. But they are together and exclusive and he does that? Ohhhhh noooo…game over.
Laura, you said you had a chicken pox crisis at your house…did both of your kiddos get it?
Oh Caleb! I heart you so much!! He built a house for them?? That is so amazing I can’t even…
Oh and how about when the h has like 3 orgasms the first time? Yeah right!!
Ela the bus? Seriously, that’s just wrong! And I’ve been staying away from everyone here so I can tackle my TBR, but it is literally impossible, especially avoiding you girls and all the antics!
Fabi, I just fell off my chair laughing!
As for my first time, it was painful, but what I really Remeber is barely being able to walk the next day. My thighs were so sore!!! TMI???
J……F&*^ING…..C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE PERFECT GAME AND I BELIEVE THEY WERE NOT ON A BREAK HE WAS JUST AWAY WITH HIS CAREER
Never TMI LMAO! Or how about those billionaires always falling for the virgin platinum diamond encrusted snatch??? EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. well lmost
Ela, I never even read the last book of that series because he pissed me off so bad!
“Virgin platinum diamond encrusted snatch”……..blahahaha!
Ela that douche didn’t even had the decency to take you home?!? What a moron! I would’ve kicked him in the balls the next time I saw him!
I know Ela! Lol! And I don’t mind they are virgins but they are so naive! That really bothers me!
Ok since we are sharing what do you think about hair down there? And do you guys like a little chest hair or prefer smooth skin? I particularly like man that groom their privates. They don’t have to shave it all off but I don’t like a jungle either lol And I love a little chest hair. I find it sexy.
Lol Jean! What did you do your first time for your thighs to be so sore?? Lol!
Haha Anne! Seriously, nothing kinky or crazy!!! My body just wasn’t used those “moves”! Lol!!
Yep Amy chicken pox was fun! I only have the one terror named myla she reminds me of ummm have u seen grown ups 2? The little kid that funny dances and bites ankles is a bit loco? Yeah that’s myla such fun! But the poor little chicken had them everywhere inside her little flower and everything 🙁 she’s only 2 so she didn’t understand either and they where there forever! Like 2 and a half weeks she still has some scabs 🙁
Your thighs were sore, Jean? What the heck was he doing to make your *thighs* sore?? Oh wait, maybe he was doing something right… *snicker*
LOL Ela!!! All I know is that when I read about the young h’s with the perfect bodies, I feel like mine has gone from platinum and diamond encrusted (thank you Ela for that description :P) to tarnished and vajazzled with half the gems missing. 😕
LMAO!!!!!
Anne, I prefer manscaped. If I’m going to go through a Brazilian every month, he is gonna trim his stuff. Chest hair…I prefer sparse hair or none at all. *shrugs* Guess it’s good that is what hubby has. 😉
That’s horrible Laura!! Your poor baby girl. 🙁 I love her name though. My doc just about freaked when he found out I had never had CPox or the vaccine. Guess who got to go through a 3-shot series? *raises hand*
Jean…for your viewing pleasure.

Manjazzle!!!! 😛
I don’t even think you get the shot here unless you have an low immune system or are elderly. How bad is this my hubby’s mum can’t even remember if he’s had them seriously?! Yep little myla I was looking at all the comments about dealing with curly hair because hers is super curly mines is poker straight I had no clue what to do with this! Google came to the rescue sort of….
On the scaping subject yes definitely has to be trimmed down there for him just oh hell no it’s like that book the Virgin romance novelist when she goes down on the guy with the huge bush and totally pukes on his junk hahahaha oh that was a fun book
OMG LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! I’m glad I could provide a very nice “virginia” description!
Sorry for your little ones Laura.
I WENT ONCE FOR A BRAZILIAN AND NEVER AGAIN NEVER EVER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT HURT SO BAD IT’S NOT EVEN FUNNY!!!!!!! So I trim or shave depends what I feel like, and the hubs does too!
Amy! I’M BLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDD! And I’m sure you still have all your jewels
Omg Amy, I have no words for that!
Yeah, the guy needs to keep it presentable down there! No jungles!
Laura, she puked on his junk?….hahaha that is too funny!
Laura I remember that scene! I almost puked! It was so disgusting and funny at the same time lol!
I’ve never had a Brazilian done. I am scared of the pain and my skin is pretty sensitive so like Ela I trim or shave.
I’m at 54% of BWWS. *gulp* I think it’s starting…oh, my heart…
LMAO at the manjazzled!!
Just FYI…the more you get Brazilians done, the less they hurt. 😉 And I have to leave something ’cause hubby doesn’t care for the pre-pubescent look. *snort*
Ok Amy, that 30-20-10 kicked my a$$ and helped burn off my frustration!!
Trying not to read comments on BWWS. I’m only at 17%. 🙂
Leah is such a manipulative bi**h! Reading how things truly went is making my heart bleed. How can things gone so wrong?
First time…some pain and difficulty with insertion…now I know that lubrication is your friend.
I agree it hurts a little less the more often you get Brazilian’s done…but it still hurts. Just gotten where I just shave instead. My hubby not a fan of the pre-pubescent look either. Definitely some trimming for both. 😉
Yup, all waxing hurts less the longer you do it. Also, your hair grows in less over time.
I keep seeing y’all talking about hating cheater books. But, but, but…what about Travis? We LOVE him!
I HATE LEAH! HATE HER!!
LOL Anne…
What book are you on?
We’re killing our heroes one day and discussing pubic hair the next! Only on Maryse’s blog!
Brazilian – Never ever ever. Ouch. Much trimming (more every year it seems like? No fair. I want my 15 year old hoo-hah back). For him? Same.
First time – ouch and yes, felt it next day – BUT – can I just tell you totally crazy it is that the heroine is a virgin and she thinks “ouch” and then has an orgasm the first time? Who had an orgasm the first time? I mean SERIOUSLY? I was mortifyingly embarrassed to even move or moan. Come on. That took many many many times before THAT happened. And no, he wasn’t a horrible lover, I was just a VIRGIN who didn’t know how to relax. Sheesh. That bothers me every time. And also simultaneous O’s. How often does THAT happen? Seriously? Am I missing out? Because I can’t seem to time that event to happen at the same time ever.
Okay. Rant over.
Michelle I agree! That bothers me too! And not just one orgasm but several! I mean come on! I’ve had simultaneous O’s but yeah that doesn’t happen often.
Haha MichelleS! I love that rant! And totally agree!
Go Cheryl!!! That workout is great on the elliptical and stationary bike as well if you ever can’t run. Like if you get shin splints. *cringes* Those hurt.
Fabi! Don’t slander Travis like that…he didn’t cheat on Abby!!! *crosses arms and huffs*
“I want my 15 year old hoo-hah back. For him? Same.” <—— I'll bet he wants it back. *snort* 😛 Heck, I want my hubby's 17-year-old stamina back!
O the first time…SURE. Maybe if you’ve held off your first time until you find a more mature and experienced guy who knows what he is doing and not some teenage boy who is just happy to be getting laid. My first was a virgin too. Need I say more? Hey, at least he got another shot at it (no pun intended) a few days later when I wasn’t sore anymore!
And simultaneous O is definitely possible (and awesome!) but I think it usually has to be deliberate. Spontaneous simultaneous O? *sigh* In books…always and only in books. Well, not *always* but I had to throw that saying in there. 😉
Oh, Anne…she is in the throes of a Tarryn Fisher mind screw. How lucky is she?!?
What?! I distinctly remember the condom wrappers in the living room. Two! He brought home two!
I’m at…well, I won’t say what % of BWWS but I am just WAITING for a bomb to be dropped. It’s going waaaaaaayyyyy too well right now. Things are working out just a little too perfectly. Aw man…
Maryse I am almost finished with Thief 🙂 I can’t stop reading!
Poor Caleb! What more can happen to him? And Olivia slapping Leah made my day lol
They weren’t together then though…it was infuriating and disrespectful, and yep he brought home two, but they weren’t a couple yet.
I would hate Travis if he had actually cheated. And that would be a very sad thing. 🙁
Wow. Talk about an interesting conversation.
Amy, don’t read the Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten right now. The last one ended on a major cliffhanger, and the next isn’t out until the end of October. :/
Laura, aww the poor babies. Hope they eventually get better.
Anyone else read the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire? I read the first one about a year ago, and still remember most of it, and the library had the second. I’m curious if anyone else has read it.
Finished Thief and the LMWL series. Wow what a ride! The epilogue made me cry a little but like you guys said it was the perfect ending to Olivia and Caleb’s story. And yes I still hate Leah lol
For anyone who liked Louder than love, I’m loving Deeper than dreams (:
Has anyone read the Night Prince series by Jeaniene Frost? It has a sexy vampire 🙂
*ahem* the birdies got dirty up in here. Yes for trimming (would love to get a Brazilian but I live in the middle of BFE),yes for manscaping…
And definitely not an o the first time or for a long time after that I didn’t *ahem* exaggerate… Messy…painful…and awkward. Simultaneous O’s…that’s something straight up out of an urban legend…
I don’t know, I think w/ a guy that pays attention anything is possible
Diane M I totally agree! 😉
Finished BWWS and… *sigh* That was fun! Sweet and emotional with just enough drama during some parts to give me the nice little fix I needed. 😀
I think I’m going to start My Biggest Mistake next. I’m going in completely blind so I don’t know if it has a HEA or not for her after she goes back to her family, and I *love* that I don’t know what to expect beyond what the blurb says. Ooh! Or maybe Station Eleven…
Yep Anne, with TF books you don’t know what to expect but you do know it won’t be easy. 😉
Tessa, good to know about the Iron Fey book…I haven’t visited that world since Iron’s Prophecy so it would be fun to go back there again! 😀
Yeah, finish the first series, then wait until I say there isn’t an evil, super evil CH at the end. Cause that last one? SUPER evil.
Anne, love the Night Prince series. I actually like it more than Cat and Bones, though the last one was not as good as the rest of the series.
Grey. It’s not an urban legend.
Whoa!!!! Just caught up on all the comments.
Ill say it……TMI. I don’t want to know what your pubic hair looks like. Lol.
And I thought Maryse’s Travis fantasies were disturbing. 😉
I wonder if Maryse’s mommy reads the comments, lol.
WIR LOVE!!!! To all who hasn’t read it look at all the reactions it still produces. Don’t you want to know why?
Heh, Laura is my muscle. Poor Scottish baby.:-(
Laura, a gentle shampoo, good conditioner, finger or wide tooth comb. I bet she is adorable.:-)
Tessa, I read WIR in March 2013 but I don’t think i mentioned it here til after MOC came out. Before I really commented. And Maryse replied and I was all yay! She may read it. :-\
Lol. Not that I was first to mention it here, let’s not forget Michelle’s obsession too.
Maryse, do you know how long we’ve been talking of it?
Ok, last one. Love second chances. Maybe because alot of chance for angst that I don’t feel angry about. It’s more understandable if apart.
Do not like when heroines cheat. A lot of times it reads like wish fulfillment and so no consequences. She is just suppose to be irresistible and her heart is so big how could she not love sleep with both. And how dare anyone get upset with her. Bleh.
Tessa, I can’t believe you quoted me on Simon, lol.
Since we have this whole post about what is our “catnip” can we start one about what is turning us off? I know it’s cliffhangers…. but, for me right now, it is:
1.) Kidnappings – can I read an Mc club book where the “h” is NOT kidnapped please? How often is this happening in the world? It’s a really corny plot element. If it is a “human trafficking” book, that’s one thing, otherwise, OVER IT.
2.) Billionaires that are under 30 and super good looking? Nope. That was fine for all of five minutes. If that’s in the description I pass right on over it.
3.) 3-somes: one too many people in this sandwich….. and if it is some weird “twins who share” then give me a puke bag already! YUCK!
I LOVE 2nd chances too. The one thing about cheating, the books I’ve loved the most involve an h in a bad situation that she feels she’s stuck in (like the story takes place a long time ago or involves a religion that doesn’t give women rights, or she’s legitimately can’t leave the guy for some reason) and the H sweeps in and saves her (or not) But the H cheating? No never.
MichelleS, like it.
1. Ditto the uber rich and powerful under 30s.
2. Slut shaming or when only the heroine is “worthy”. Not everyone is jealous, or after your man. And maybe they lie the way they look in that outfit, which is not who they are. Not to say mean or vindictive or jealous other women can’t be fun but lets reign it in and put it in context.
3. Insta love/ this person is my whole world. Sometimes fun but……
4. Realistic job behavior.
Agree with all your turn offs so far…
Oh, and when the author doesn’t give us enough time as the reader. You know when something happens and the h/H get over it in two pages, but I’m still stewing. Which probably leads to the whole telling me but not showing me. Drives me nuts.
*snort* I’m with ya Bev on not wanting to know about everyones grooming preferences for the hot pocket
Turn offs for me right now: 1. The whole stepbrother icky ickness…bleh I almost threw up. Just no. Find some other taboo because that’s old after one book. You won Penelope Ward…and next! 2. If I read another book where the main couple dances around and builds ‘sexual tension’ and then has sex at like the 60-70% mark…new formula please! 3. Risque, gritty, shocking books that have no plot. I’ve read quite a few recently and lord I’m shocked OK but what the hell is the point of this book?
…oh thanks MichelleS, good question and I needed to vent a little!
Number one hate for me that isn’t a trigger, rushed endings. Finish the book properly without pretty bow ties or worse, an ending that makes no sense because it hasn’t been in the plot the whole time.
CH – No sudden hate or separation just to get me to read the next book. Pretty sure that’s just going to make me not read book two.
2D characters. If the first and secondary characters don’t have a full personality, I’m bored. They become a cliche, and let’s all avoid boring cliches.
Last, for now, lack of description. No, I don’t want a flowery description of that tiny porcelain figure that isn’t important to the story, but I do want you to describe where the kitchen is to the front door and where the living room couch is to the bedroom. Not exact details, but hey, how about, ‘I passed the couch to get to the stairs. My room was upstairs on the left.’
Oh, to clarify. I like CH if they make sense, but not when they are done so you have to produce book two.
I think everyone knows what my pet peeve is with books. *snort* no sense in rehashing that one. But I do agree with all of yours too. In fact, I’m on my 2nd YA book in a row just getting away from all the nonsense you guys described. -taking a break-
Amy yes it wasn’t easy and many times I wanted to smash my Kindle but I love books that make me feel, and TF is an expert at that.
I agree with all your triggers. I am also so over the billionaire that’s into BDSM and wants the sweet, naive h that suddenly is up to whatever he wants to do to her because he is so so handsome and irresistible. Its been done so many times by now that its become a cliche.
Rushed endings!!!! YES YES YES. Especially when the book was as slow molasses and then WHAM it’s all resolved in half a chapter.
One more. Can you give me a clue roughly what these people look like early on so my blonde is not suddenly s black haired girl in chapter 3???
Fabi what YA are you reading? I love a good YA 😀
MichelleS yes!! I hate that also!! And it happens quite often.
Anne I just finished The Evolved, a YA paranormal thriller. It was a five star for me. I had just come off two back to back CRs that I didn’t like. I don’t know how much that affected my rating, but I loved the story and I loved getting away from all the clichés mentioned by everyone above.
Now I’ve started book 2 in the Edgewood series. Book 1 was awesome and I got book 2 on loan so I have to read it next. Maybe after these two I’ll be ready to go back to CR. I have several waiting in my tbr that I think are going to be really good from everyone’s feedback. But I needed a break.
Oh Anne, meant to tell you I’ve read some of the Night Prince series. It’s pretty good. I loved the first few.
Fabi, have you read E&P?
I’m still on the same book. Just feel like veg in front of tv when get home. Try and read a bit but can’t concentrate and want to sleep, lol.
Nope, haven’t read it Bev. Of course, considering how long it took me to read reader favorites like On the Island and Archer’s Voice… E&P will get its day…
I’m so with y’all on your peeves…CHs, rushed endings, telling instead of showing, wrapping up issues/conflicts way too quickly, instalove, etc.
My pet peeve right now is the predictability in stories, mostly because the story lines are the same recycled stories that have been done TO DEATH or too much has been revealed in the book to make the events or outcome surprising. I realize that after reading several hundred books we are bound to come across similar story lines, and sometimes we are looking FOR a specific similar story line, but give it something to make it different from the cookie cutter and copy cat books. I don’t want to *easily* guess where things are going or what is going to happen. Make me wonder if I’m right in my guessing and then blindside me or shock me…THAT is what I want.
A minor peeve that is actually pretty silly but is still like nails on a chalkboard to me is the way some blurbs are written with questions. “Will he be able to break through her walls?” “Will she see what is right in front of her before it is too late?” “Will they be able to survive as a couple?” Like I’m supposed to be biting my nails in suspense. Questions in a blurb, especially lately for whatever reason, make me skip over the book even if I already have it in my library.
Bev, I totally get what you are saying about not liking when the h cheats without any real consequences. If I’m reading a book about the h cheating, I want to see consequences and fallout caused by her actions. It doesn’t matter what her circumstances are (whether she has a jerk husband/bf who is selfish, neglectful, abusive or a philanderer, or she has an amazing man that we can’t believe she is cheating on) there needs to be some real consequences to her straying. I want to see her lose it all and have to EARN her way back and work for any further happiness.
Fabi, Evolved by who?
Ooh, Blurb pet peeves! That one is good. Another is generic who knows what it’s about blurbs. “I saw him. He was hurt. I saved him. Then he saved me.” Okay… so what’s the book about? That little we can pretend the guy was shot, and the first person was a paramedic. She saved him. He goes to say thanks when suddenly, she’s hit by a car in front of him. He uses CPR to save her. The end.
I do have to say if she has left an abusive husband, just can not be in contact with him I’d not really think cheating. He broke his vows.
I didn’t think about it until it was articulated on a blog. But stop with the heroine’s trauma always being a sexual assault. If she has to have s traumatic event.
Tessa, its The Evolved by Simon Jenner.
Starting this early, cause up and have time, lol.
First line.
“Wade Sheppard looked out from under the brim of his black Stetson at the bored crowd of weekend gamblers, mostly retirees.”
~Good Time Bad Boy by Sonya Clark.
Yes, still reading it and no not a sign of the book.
“Waiting in the shadows felt like a kind of slow death.”
Wanderlust by Karen McQuestion
It’s book 2 of the Edgewood series
Cool. I own that Evolved.
The last train out of San Francisco leaves at midnight; miss it and your stuck until morning.
-A Local Habitation by Seanan McGuire
*sighs* Really the book is better than that line.
Just finished BWWS. I love how the author writes- it just flows beautifully. It was such a bittersweet second chance story full of regrets and what ifs. 🙂
Now what to read…
On a side note to the quotes WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD???
I swear Josh Duggar and Subway Guy should get together and be best buds!
https://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/08/19/family-values-hypocrite-and-pedophile-josh-duggar-busted-with-ashley-madison-account/
Almost there Cheryl! I want to do a Fairy PNR next or something PNR not sure what yet…hmmmmmmmmm
“I parked my bike in front of the restaurant, wiping the perspiration from my upper lip.”- Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost
Loving it so far! Val is so sexy!!
Looks like I found my next read!!! A Kiss of Shadows (Merry Gentry #1)
by Laurell K. Hamilton!
“I’d left on a Friday—September twenty-first to be exact.” ~ My Biggest Mistake by Leddy Harper
Only 38% in and I’m already emotionally exhausted. Nothing that a mani and pedi with nice bright colors can’t fix though. 😉
I read the Merry Gentry up to Lick of Frost. Still have to read that one. It’s not my favorite, but good.
I really liked the Merry Gentry #1… after #2 they become a little bit redundant but still she paints a very cool world of fey…
This book sounds good! It came out yesterday I believe. I am intrigued but kinda scared of the ending. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22053233-slammer?from_search=true&search_version=service
Amy I’be been meaning to read that book 🙂 It sounds pretty emotional so I need to be in a good place before I tackle it.
First line Thursday:
“Inhale…Exhale.”
The Wife by C.P. Cervantes
Not a great first line and the second line was a duplicate so couldn’t use that! Lol! BUT, the book so far is really good!
Ooo Anne, that book looks good!!
Jean glad you are liking The Wife. Its on my TBR list 🙂 Slammer does sound good! They say its quite dark. I haven’t read anything by this author so kinda excited.
I haven’t read anything by that author either. Keep me updated. And I’ll keep ya’all updated on The Wife.
At 56% of End of Day by Jewel E. Ann.. it is so good guys!!! It is mysterious cuz you are wondering what is going on, funny, and a little bit dark!!! So good!!! I’ll let you know if it’s a cliffhanger when I’m done 🙂
Oh Anne! I want to read Slammer too!!!!!
I so hope that one doesn’t have a cliffy!
The comments are so great in this link!! I loved BWWS! Moving on to Cocky Bastard. I think because of the comments of it being witty…
I agree with ALL of the pet peeves mentioned above and wanted to add one. Whenever, and it definitely seems often, books do this:
She. Is. Mine. Separated with periods to make it more powerful? Or maybe the whole him saying she’s “Mine” in general. It’s just been done so much. I think because of all of the pet peeves listed is why I liked Jezebel and Vanguard so much. They felt really out of the recent norm. And Never, Never although don’t want a cliffhanger and waiting for 3 before reading 2…
Yeah Anne, you have to be ready for this one because it starts off kinda heavy and stays there, at least for me so far. We’ll see how the rest of it goes.
Jean, I’m looking forward to your opinion of The Wife. I wanted to start it but after being pretty disappointed with 47 Things (which I don’t remember anyone else reading and commenting on) I figured I would let some of y’all guinea pig TW first…and you’re the lucky one!! 😛
“out of the recent norm” <—– Marina, that's a good way to put it for the stand-out books.
I’ll keep you guys posted on Slammer 🙂 I think its a stand alone Ela but I’ll let you know.
I am really enjoying Once Burned so far. Vlad is so badass!
I totally agree Marina! That’s why Jezebel blew my mind!
I loved Vlad too Anne!
I still need to read Vanguard.
Totally agree marina, I loved Jezebel and Vanguard for the same reason. So different and unforgettable!
Amy, wonder if I can still return 47 Things…..hmmm….. Yep, I don’t mind being the guinea pig for a change… it’s usually you! Lol!
Was it that bad Jean?
I never read it Ela….just going by Amy’s thoughts on it. I did hear it was sad and found out the subject matter which I probably would have avoided it if I’d known. Unfortunately, my 1-clicker finger bought it before I knew more about it!
Jean I just read a review that pretty much was the entire book and I don’t think I want to read 47 things anymore.
I didn’t *completely* dislike 47 Things, and I didn’t even mind the topic, it was more that I was disappointed in the actual execution of the story. It was sad (y’all know I love that in books) but I wasn’t crying or anything, even though I think I was supposed to. *shrugs*
How can I explain it…okay, it’s like comparing The Notebook with a 90’s Lifetime movie with a similar plot. The Notebook would gut you while the Lifetime movie would probably not even affect you…47 Things would be the Lifetime movie. 😕
See Ela…..that’s what I’m talking about.
Great analysis Amy…..it makes sense. I’m gonna try returning it.
Just finished Once Burned and loved it! Vlad is one sexy, badass vampire and Leila is no damsel in distress which I love! Starting Twice Tempted now 😀
Oh and that shower scene! Talk about hot and intense.
🙂 Isn’t it awesome? I love their story so much. Vlad is hot and Leila is such a fun character. Oooh, a hang out character, Leila. She’d be fun to hang out with!
Well damn, just when I thought MBM was turning into a story with unicorns prancing around shooting hearts and rainbows out of their a$$e$, those same stupid unicorns popped a squat and crapped some angst out all over the place.
Yep…I’m splotchy right now.
LOL Amy!
Crazy Unicorns! Now I gotta figure out what MBM is…
*grumbles stupid acronyms grumble grumble* 😉
“In the spring of 1792, Dominick Edward Guy de Ath Ballister, third Marquess of Dain, Earl of Blackmoor, Viscount Launcells, Baron Ballister and Launcells, lost his wife and four children to typhus.” – Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase
Captive in the Dark is FREE right now. Haven’t looked for much more lately sorry, been working 12 hr+ for the last couple days…soooo tired!
Ouch, Michelle. That’s no fun. But you are reading Lord of S. I’ve hard it in my tbr forever. Because many love it.
Bev, I’m knocking off some that I have had on my tbr for way too long and I think LoS is one of the historicals I’ve had there the longest! I know everyone loves it so fingers crossed I’m getting into a 5*. Tired but I want to get a chapter or two in to relax myself before bed.
Amy, you do have a way with words. 😉
I’m finally sitting down and trying to decide what to read next. Amy & Jean, both of your books sounds good. Hmm, going to look into them…
Tessa I love their story too! TT is action packed so really enjoying it so far.
Michelle I hope you like LoS. I loved it back in the day 🙂
Anne, that’s great! 🙂 The second was my favorite.
Amy, hear that? Captive in the Dark, free! Just saying…
Michelle, Bev, honest I had that book back when it was published, but at this point, I’ve totally forgotten what it was about. *blushes* I know it wasn’t a re-read book.
Oh Just finished Renee Carlino’s BWWS and it was beautiful. Just beautiful. How does she do that!!!! Evoke such heartache and longing. I’m a blubbering mess of huge sentimental romantic tears. Sigh. 5 sparkling stars for this one. Perfection.
I’m on a weird kick. Nothing sounds good except PNR. 8/25 that will change, but until then, PNR. A Local Habitation by Seanan McGuire was good. Lots of excitement. Now onto a book I thought I read, but hadn’t: Black Widow by Jennifer Estep. 🙂
Though, anyone at all read the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire?
I’m tellin’ ya, Cheryl…that was toned down from what I originally was going to post. 😛
Oh, heck no Tessa! I’m a bit wrung out after MBM so there is no way I’m reading CITD right now! Besides I already have it so the free thing isn’t gonna work. *pbltttt*
Lisa, have you read Sweet Thing by her? That one is my favorite of hers.
Amy, I loved Sweet Thing. Its one if my top ten. The name says it all. *big shuddery sigh*
Oh boohoo I just finished the community book 3 no fair!!!! I loved it btw and there’s more books to come but by the looks of the authors website not till 2016!! Only us readers wish the year away cause all out books come out next yr! And maryse I totally never got my ‘I knew it!’ Moment that’s going to be the next book gah!
Oh NO Laura!! But still you loved it and I’m thrilled! 😀
Amy…I am gathering from Tessa’s comment that you haven’t read Captive in the Dark?? Oh dear. You really need to be brave, pull up your big girl undies (Aussies wear undies btw) and read this series. It will tear a hole in your chest (just saying) but it is A MUST READ!!!!!
Yep! Nope, not wasting my time on 47 Things…too many books too little time. I started the first Merry Gentry and it’s good so far but I haven’t read PNR without smut in quite a while so it seems weird to me.
Ella, um….that’s all that series is, lol. So see should of read WiR. 😉
These damn acronyms! Whats MBM
Ok Bev, after this first book I’ll follow you into the darkness of WiR 🙂
Ela, My Biggest Mistake.
So I just saw this in a review about WiR:
“That book didn’t have ONE SEX SCENE!!! NOT ONE KISS…..NOT ONE FONDLE…..NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH”
So that means NO SMUT EITHER?! Bev? Are you trying to trick me???
ROFL WIR is the ultimate SLOOOOOW burn. Merry Gentry is so full of smut that it gets boring after a while.
I was romantic, so we had sex.
I was hurt so we had sex.
I needed a ritual, so we had sex.
We were about to die, so we had sex.
I was bored, so we had sex.
I was tired, so we had sex.
I was hungry, so we had sex.
It honestly got to the point where I’d just skip the smut because I was BORED of it.
LOL Tessa!!!
I LOVE this:
“I was romantic, so we had sex.
I was hurt so we had sex.
I needed a ritual, so we had sex.
We were about to die, so we had sex. <---- LOL!!!! Especially that one. I was bored, so we had sex. I was tired, so we had sex. I was hungry, so we had sex."
Now I’m ROFL! That’s A LOT of sex Tessa….let me get to it then, although I hope she has 1 romantic relationship through out the series but I gather that’s not the case???
Ela, what Tessa said. I thought you thought Merry was slow burn and it is exact opposite so that’s hey said WiR, it is. But if you keep reading it you get a scritch. Just saying.
She has, like, eight lovers I think? It’s insane.
Hmmm! Gotcha Bev!
Tessa that reminds me of The Mona Lisa Series by Sunny, all the lovers that is…
https://www.goodreads.com/series/40531-mon-re-children-of-the-moon
*grins* I don’t mind multiple lovers, or steam, but in those books, it just got old fast.
You ladies make me grin & chuckle when I turn on my puter and read all the comments. Ela/Tessa you ladies are great!
I have to chime in on the Merry G. It’s LOADED with smut and I would have to say no romance. Not really anyway. I gotta agree with Tessa after a while it became so redundant with sex that I was flipping 30+ pages at a time… This is not to say the rest of the story wasn’t good and cool though. LKH can really weave an unusually world.
WiR… Oddly the no sex thing didn’t bother me at all because the entire book is just so good. Such a slow burn and build and he does love/care about her. I’m in so deep on this series now that it’s going to be a bad hangover when it all comes to an end…
I miss old Anita Blake… when it was just between Jean Claude and Richard, and yes there was sex, but there was MUCH more intensity and angst… plus crazy-story excitement.
Agreed.
“I don’t mind multiple lovers” <——- Oh really?? LOL!!!!!! 😛
LMAO! Can I anticipate some threesomes???? The Mona Lisa series had HAWT threesomes *sigh*!
*blushes and begins whistling* Um… *grins suddenly*
Teri, exactly. I just wanted the smut to stop so I can read the story. The story itself was interesting. And yean, no real romance, just smut. WIR, it’s the opposite. High tension romance with no smut. lol Both stories are there though. I just got bored of the smut in Merry Gentry and haven’t read since before Lick of Frost came out. That on top of the Anita Blake weirdness (smut, but it doesn’t fit the personality of the character) I just stopped with the author completely.
I MUCH prefer high-tension romance… I find myself skipping sex scenes now… or at least skimming ’em in *case* something looks… interesting in one. LOL!! 😛
That’s why I am loving the Night Prince series because there’s just the right amount of smut in it. It’s hot without the need of sex if that makes any sense. I am not reading the Merry Gentry series then because I enjoy like Maryse said a high tension romance more.
Finished Twice Tempted and loved it! I liked it better than Once Burned. Vlad in this one was such a badass, sweet, sexy alpha that I fell more in love with him.
MBM is My Biggest Mistake by Leddy Harper 🙂
*squee* Yeah, so glad you’re loving Vlad and Leila’s story, Anne!
Maryse, oh, that Richard and Jean Claude tension was beyond sexy. I think I miss that the most. Rooting for one or the other (me, Jean Claude and my niece, Richard) and not knowing who’d win or do something stupid and lose in the next book.
Oh well! I’ll finish this book and hope for no cliffhangers and maybe “do” another book? I just read the scene with tentacle guy *shudders*!
See in the Mona Lisa books sex helps the partner heal if he/she was hurt and restores and adds power to that person (Monere) so I didn’t mind all the sex, it worked…*sigh* loved that series, did not particularly like the last book, which Sunny says may not be the last.
Ela tentacle guy? Do I really want to know? Lol
Probably not Anne! He’s some form of sidhe.
Yep Maryse, MBM is My Biggest Mistake. It was really good and pretty heavy emotionally in the first 40% or so. It’s in her POV, and I couldn’t help but feel for Donnie (the hubby) and her as well. He (understandably) puts up a fight, and she has to deal with the consequences of what she did.
One of my only complaints is the time span of the book…the entire thing takes place in a period of a couple of weeks, and things happened way too fast for that sort of situation. Also, the crying. Oh lawd the crying. All the time. She cried. She cried again. She cried some more. Then HE cried. And then, you guessed it…she’s STILL effing crying. Save the tears in a book for when they will have the most impact. BUT, the tummy-twisting, heart-aching drama with some angst thrown in made up for it, and it was a great emotional ride! 😀
Ela, finally someone else who has read the Monere books! I love them! Yeah there’s multiple partners and a lot of sex but the story and characters are soooo good and there is definite angst. Oh god howbout the thing with Dante…I need to reread them sometime now!
I still read the Anita Blake series. I liked Affliction probably mostly due to Edward and Nicky who I love but the last book was what 4 hours I will never get back. Just not good at all. Also did not like the last Merry book because of what happened to my fav of the men 🙁
Tessa, I’ve read the October Daye series but I’m behind and was just thinking I should catch up with the next book coming out, 3 or 4 books behind I think. I have loved it so far. I heard they get better and better.
Liking Lord of Scoundrels a lot so far bjt only a couple chapters in. The dialogue is very engaging and witty so far.
I just said ‘so far’ too many times haha ignore please…home from another 12 hour day *sigh*
What is it with all of us having tobwork such long days lately? I think we’re all exhausted.
I dunno Fabi, but it’s cutting into my reading/’me’ time and I’m gettin grumpy! Oh and some people are I’ve concluded just stupid and that is making my days longer. I’ve spent hours and hours this week with animals after they give human medicine to their pets they can’t have or medicine for another pet that is a completely different weight. Medicine is dosed on weight not some mystical formula and humans are not the same as dogs and cats! Then they freak out and yell at you! Pick up the phone, google it, don’t just give the medicine and hope for the best! Ok end of rant but don’t do this anyone…I’m going to go dig for a tasty drink mix because I need it, I really really do!
Oh my God. In this day and age of free information there is just no excuse fo r that. Shoot, even before the Internet most of us were smart enough to at least call our Vet’s office before giving anything to our pets. I bet people give their kids smaller doses of adult meds too. That also can go bad in a big way. 🙁 Maybe human meds should come with a warning “not suitable for pets” like they do for kids under a certain age.
Michelle, I read that and my cat came to be pet at that exact moment. Though, it makes you wonder about certain people. Human meds for animals? Okay, and when you have a stomach ache, just take a de-worming tablet. *facepalms*
Good to see someone who has read October Daye. I was beginning to think I’d lost it. I expect all authors to get better with each book.
You read all the way to Affliction? I’m impressed.
Ela… tentacles. Again, there’s a LOT of smut in those books. 😛
Amy, tell us how it ends. I’m not sure if I can handle books with excessive crying. After being around little dude, I don’t want to deal with it in adults. *grins*
Michelle…we had a diabetic cat when I was growing up and had to give it insulin shots twice a day. He hissed at us and tried to smack us when he first had to get the shots, but eventually he got so used to them that he would just lay down and roll over until we were done. He lived for almost 8 years after being diagnosed. Thought you would get a kick out of that. 😉
Tessa, it really was good except for all of her crying. Not that it wasn’t understandable, it was just TOO often. Still, I could definitely say I would recommend it! 😀
😀 Okay. I added it to my wish list. I’m not buying anything until FCU is in my hands. Well, that’s not true. X by Ed Sheeran is on sale on Google Play for 0.99 so I had to get it.
Fabi, I worry about these people with kids too! I mean if you can’t manage to take care of a kitty *shudders*
Tessa, facepalming sums it all up lol. October Daye is a must read for UF fans. I will get caught up with the series soon and most libraries have them fyi for others. Yeah I’ve read all the Anita books hoping to get back to the awesomeness of Obsidian Butterfly. If I could find an Edward replacement in another series I would likely bail! Pritkin from the Cassie Palmer series comes close.
Amy, he figured out the pokey was making him feel better 🙂 I needed you the other day when this lady burst into tears when her cat was diagnosed 🙁
Aww Poor lady. That’s never a happy thing, though it’s something they can live with. at least.
I got the second one from the library. Next time I go, I’ll get a few rather than one at a time, though I’m not sure if they have the third. It shows on their computer, but not as actually there. It’s odd.
My oldest cat was diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago. She’s 9 years old, a pretty calico. I was surprised but didn’t freak out since I’m familiar with the illness through my nephew who’s had it since he was 13. I have to say its a whole lot easier to take care of a pet than it is a child.
Paging Michelle for the Friday post. 🙂
Ela – going to chime in on the sex – romance – smut discussion….
Laurel K Hamilton books – Anita and Merry end up sluts. End of story. Fantastic male characters and they all pine over heroine. Too bad. I adored the male characters and grew to hate the heroine.
Written in Red – no smut – no sex – not even a kiss!!!! ARGH!!!! But I still loved it, because I don’t need romance in every book. And I am still hoping eventually Simon is going to make a move. And by then it will be epic!! Remember how long it took Mercy to hook up with Adam? And it’s still my favorite UF series.
Tairen Soul – has all of that. Romance, but nothing over the top or instant or overly smutty. Also, Knights of Black Swan: ditto for all of which I just said.
Aw Fabi, your poor little calico! It’s amazing though how easy it can be to manage diabetes in cats. I had a friend over one time who saw me giving our kitty a shot and asked me why we didn’t just put him down…as if a couple of little shots a day is a lot of work!
Diabetes is so common and easily managed but yeah it can be overwhelming if you are nervous about the injections, etc. It’s in the top three most common issues cats can get as they age: kidney disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism.
Bev, noooo paging me here too! Ok just this once, going to look 😉
