HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY and what a way to kick off the month!! Exactly 100 new releases on today’s list (and I’ll add more if we find ’em or if some later-releases show up) but we’ve got an excellent batch to choose from. In fact, the paranormal section is insane with the big names that just put out new series-sequels, or new series altogether!!! YAY US!!
But my mini-blurb jolt list highlights those blurbs that really gave me butterflies, or made me sit straight up, at attention!! ➔ Delectable (a new R.L. I just wish I figured out his true identity before I fell for his best friend..”). OH!!! One more!!! Beard in Mind (Winston Brothers Book 4) by Penny reid (sounds so hilarious, and he hates her ’cause she’s mean!! *snort* :P)

I have to agree with the majority on here Aly Martinez duet is a 5 star read for me! I LOVED it! There was some very emotional parts with eyes watering and stomach dropping but she brought it full circle. Even went on to read her Retrieval duet too…loved it as well!
YAY D.G.!!!! She’s just awesome. I’m really getting attached to some of these authors (as much as I am with some of my original indie-favorites). Aly Martinez & Rachel Higginson are two always MUST READS for me.

Maryse, I think you have mentioned before that you garden? Is your weather good enough to do it all year round?
I am not so good with plants but enjoy an herb garden for few months in summer. We get werid weather here in Mass so short growing season.
Ela, LOL. I didn’t realize how snobby I sounded but I REALLY do use Agave. Its good!!! You can get big bottle at BJ’s too. I stopped using artificial sweeteners and real sugar in coffee is gross.
I absolutely LOVE gardening, Leslie. I’ll germinate any fruit seed and try and grow a tree. Have had some success with lemons and oranges (trees about my height right now – not fruiting yet because they’re too young still), and two super-tall avocado trees, and now I’m trying to grow a mango tree. I tried apple seeds and 4 actually sprouted and became really CUTE with cool-looking apple leaves, but they were still tiny and I left them outside amongst my potted trees, and they died. I think it’s just too hot for them (at least at that baby seedling-size). Ah well… anyway, they need a ton of “chill hours” to become fruitful trees and we don’t have enough cold in FL to accommodate. Still, I would have loved to see them become trees. 😉
That is funny about the apples because we have tons of apple orchards here. Have you ever tried to grow pineapple? I think your climate would work for that. You should post pics of your garden, I’d love to see it.

Have I said lately how much I love Tarryn Fisher’s writing? Well, I do. As in love it so much I want to fold it up in neat little square and swallow it (those who read Mud Vein will get that ;)).
That woman. THAT WOMAN. Her writing is so matter of fact and raw and REAL. Her h’s are always a mess and I love them for it.
I. Am. So. Hooked…again.
Amy, the last author I was like that with was Benjamin Alire Saenz. I have read good books since, but his writing was special. Just the craft and art of it. It was audio so instead of rereading I would listen to parts over again. Maybe just for that perfect sentence or two. It could be spare and almost poetic.
That is the only quibble was not seeing the words. But I wouldn’t trade the listening. The narration added to that writing and those characters was just really special for me.
Grey, maybe we should make it a 2018 resolution. Every month or two have a book ban. Well except for preorders.
At the end of last year I preordered some books and it was fun to have them pop up, like surprise gifts.
We need to have a serious talk about Mescal. Remember when I went to Austin on date night and I had that super hot bartender? Well, it turns out Mescal is freaking awesome and it wasn’t just his hotness influencing me. I’m running the retreat cocktail test kitchen right now and all I have to say is Ela, Ela, Ela. I put a bottle of ibuprofen in your room beside your bed.

I’m doing some Susan Fanetti rereads.
FLT: Carmen Pagano slammed the door of her Tundra and smoothed her charcoal grey pencil skirt over her hips.
from ‘Rooted’. The first line is nothing special, actually, but it’s a great book. Two older, mature protagonists who meet while both happen to be staying in Paris. They have a wild, passionate affair and fall in love. Then real life intervenes, and they have to decide how to go forward – together or not? I’m enjoying the second read just as much as the first.
We did have a good laugh over on good reads about the dodgy title of the book, though. I’m afraid that in Australia, ‘rooted’ is a coarse euphemism for *ahem* ‘had sex’.
