Okay… now onto the MAIN LIST:
Happy New Release day! There are definitely a few on here that will “tickle out book-fancy” (like that one there to the left… GAH I LOVE THOSE COVERS!!) but I’m still really delighted over yesterday’s surprise release list:
βΒ Twelve Early Bird Book ReleasesΒ (<— DO NOT MISS IT! Standouts are RoomHate,Β The LieΒ andΒ Strong SignalΒ that are already LOADED in awesome reviews), so I’m still reading from that one. :D!!!!
In fact… Grey had another freakout over yesterday’s list. LOL!
“Do you guys remember last weekβs list reaction where I proclaimed that the list was *and I quote* βYouβve got to be sh*tting me?!!? This list looks to be absolutely ridiculous. I quit!β
Iβm afraid Iβm going to having to step up my profanity a bit this weekβ¦ what daf*q is all this?!? Iβm fully immersed in a writing collab at the momentβ¦ and my finger is twitchy!!!Β Roomhate looks like all sorts of pretzel tummy brilliance! A new JR Ward?!?! ACK! Last Callβ¦ In fact, What the What!! all of the top 10 just look angstily deliciousβ¦bangs head against laptop!”
I know it, Grey. I know it. π

That said, there are a few blurb-standouts for me on THIS list, so while there are plenty “highlights” below, I thought I’d point out a few that really stand out for me. Like…Β Yes, Mr. Van Der WellsΒ (intriguing panicky blurb, and I loved a previous book by this author),Β UnrequitedΒ (he’s in an MC and had an affair AND a baby with a dangerous drug-lords wife),Β Hidden HeatΒ (another biker book and he’s an undercover cop in the MC, and to “protect” her from the MC, he has to claim her as his “old lady”),Β The Other ManΒ (his wife wanted to bring in another man into their bed for extra play, and he realizes he wants him MORE than his own wife…),Β Maybe I’ll Call AnnaΒ (I dunno… something about this one… it will either be extremely dark and depressing, or thrilling… I’m intrigued).
P.S. Let me know if Iβm missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Donβt have a Kindle? No problem!Β Amazon offers variousΒ freeΒ Kindle appsΒ and a freeΒ Kindle Cloud readerΒ for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like youβre using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <β No need to download anything!Β Β )
AUDIOBOOK LOVERS
For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe youβve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to βlistenββ¦ check out theΒ free audible trial + 2 freeΒ audiobooks dealΒ β>
- AND! Hereβs the fun-tool again! β>Β Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE!Β <β
Β This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it βMatchmakerβ)! Itβs an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

A twist at the end I didnβt see coming!” andΒ Fabi is loving it: “I am at the last 10% of Ricochet and making myself late for work because I canβt put it down. Great rec Jean!” This one is HIGH on my TBR list. As soon as I’m in the mood for dark again, I’m in! π Somebody remind me if I squirrel please…

I won’t read the description ’cause I don’t want to spoil the series for myself, but I know many here are following and loving this one! Tessa has this series in her TOP 10 of 2015 and describes it as: “…angst, all from the lies being told. I should have HATED this character. The mean girl that is popular and a cheerleader. Yet, I totally emphasized with her and felt every emotion she did. …17 βmean girlβ type who falls for a much older man and lies to him about her age. Itβs a simple premise, but the uniqueness of the MC and the relationship and lies in itself kept me on my toes.”

Office romance, she’s the wild-child and he’s a stick-in-the-mud corporate type and they are resisting their… “interest” in one another (not each other’s type, you see) but… “he gives her a lift home from the office party, and she finally has to admit to herself the depth of her Grand Canyon-sized crush. One that chokes itself to death two days later, when he erroneously accuses her of screwing up a major account.he gives her a lift home from the office party, and she finally has to admit to herself the depth of her Grand Canyon-sized crush. Hi Maryse thanks for the list! 2 books I don’t see on the list but am a
Sooooo anxiously awaiting are Jewel E. Ann’s Dawn of Forever out in 2 days on the 18th! And Caroline Kepnes’ follow up to You… Hidden Bodies out Feb 23! Sorry if you already posted but didn’t see…
Don’t forget M. Robinsons, Undo Me The Good Ol Boys, book 3 came out today too! This is Dylan and Aubreys story.
OHHHHH YES MARINA!!! I’m adding them. YAY!
Okay I added ’em all. Yours too, Robyn. π
I *am* loving The Lie! I don’t really remember anything from The Pact and haven’t read any of the other books in the series, but fortunately it reads like a standalone. And what I love is how it’s slow in building up to whatever climactic event is going to happen but it’s not dragging by any means.
It’s like…okay, you know how when you are hammering a nail into something? How you have to tap-tap-tap it first to secure it and then slam that hammer down on it? Well, I’m the nail right now…The Lie is tap-tap-tapping me with some emotion and little twinges in preparation for the BA-BAM I’m sure it’s about to bring down on me. Yay me!!! π
This list!!! My TBR is already too long. I am trying to be good and use Amazon wish list and check items for price drops but some on this list were 1-clicked….oh well
Amy: “I am the nail right now.” Does that mean you’re getting nailed? Sorry, I couldn’t resist!
Finished Roomhate and even though I flew through it, couldn’t put it down, and did love the whole storyline, I didn’t feel a big connection to the characters for some reason. Still definitely worth the read!
I guess its mm week for me. Strong Signal kicked it off and I’m starting it next. Then I had to get The Other Man and Love Me Tenor.
And the one that kicked off my mm reading journey is on super sale. Lover at Last. *sigh* I have that one on Audible, hardback and Kindle. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve read it. It introduced me to a genre I fell in love with.
LOL Jean! I’m getting book-nailed, the next best thing to…you know…*wink wink* π
The more I’m thinking about Roomhate, it is making me smile like crazy! The end and the Epilogue….perfection! And for anyone interested, the entire book is her POV….epilogue his POV.
I finished Roomhate and loved it. I could use Amy’s nail analogy too because I kept waiting for the “hammer” to drop. I just couldn’t put it down today. I enjoyed the banter between Justin and Amelia, especially early on when Justin was so angry. It did surprise me a couple times with events I didn’t see coming. My gut wasn’t in knots from angst, more the tension of wondering what was going to happen next and just how this was going to end.
Not sure what I’m in the mood for now, several up there have my attention- The Lie, I have an “idea” what it involves; Richochet, what with all the “love” everyone here has for it; Yes Mr. Van Der Wells or should I just start The Ground Rules since book 3 is soon released?!!
Good to know, Jean…you saved me from needing to ask. π
Finished The Lie. It was good. Predictable with really no angst (on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 3, *maybe* a 4 at certain points) but there were some pretty emotional parts.
Alright! *rubs hands together* What’s next…
**I meant the ANGST was a 3 to 4, not the star rating.
I just started Strong Signal and its already brilliant. I don’t know what magic trick Hassell uses to bring his characters instantly alive and relatable. I fall in love with every character he writes.
Okay my WD-lovin’ friends, I’m calling it…I think this is it for Daryl. If I’m wrong then at the end of the season you can shove some crow in my face and tell me how wrong I was. And I HOPE I’m wrong.
But I really think we’re gonna have to riot by the end of the season. π
Ok Amy- those are fighting words! Just when we are getting him to take his shirt off… So here was what I was thinking. You know how after the big truck vs motorcycle *thing* happened and he said the guy got him a little bit? Didn’t you feel like they showed the shot of his back with the wound on it on the wing for a tad too long? Like maybe a foreshadow of something? He gets stabbed in the back (betrayed?) but maybe he does something to tarnish his angelic soul? You guys I realize I could be reading too much into this but Daryl is my BF for life and I don’t want to want him stabbed in the head. On a scale of one to denial I am in the ice cream/ troll the Internet for clues phase. I need help. Reading The Lie right now and that is certainly not helping because it’s sort of snooze. End basic rant here.
Amy I haven’t read The Lie yet but The Play in that series is wonderful….and it has a novella Winter Wishes which introduces the guy in The Lie. I love the way the author builds the story slowly and before you know it you’re invested in the characters.
Read The Play next time you need a quick break from all the gut wrenching. π
Holy shittttt what a great list! Starting roommate now!!
I just finished the whole Stark and Stark International series by J Kenner – 6 books and 6 novellas. Got that FSOG feeling to them and I loved them. Every single book is a 4,5* for me.
I was so sad to leave these characters as I had been part of their lives for so long.
Difficult to move on to another book and I needed to find something different. I started Ricochet by Keri Lane and this is just perfect. I am around 80% and I just LOVE this book. So dark and so much angst – just what I needed.
Where the heck is everyone?
So, wanting to be like Amy (who doesn’t), I went back to my TBR and decided to try something I downloaded in 2013. I’m reading A Different Blue by Amy Harmon. Wow you guys! Her writing is just exquisite and her words so meaningful and powerful. Loving it!
Oh and for all of you who have read Ricochet….Keri Lake has a couple follow up books to it so looks like it unexpectedly became a series! I’m happy though. Loved, loved, loved Ricochet! The author said they will be standalones. Maryse, allow this to act as your reminder!
Pia! We must have been typing at the same time! Yes Ricochet! Now we need to get Maryse to read it!
I only read the first 3 Stark books a while ago and loved them also!
Strong Signal merited a day off from work. It’s been forever since I’ve skipped out due to a book, but these characters have me wrapped around their little fingers and I couldn’t break away for anything.
Who else reads mm? Anne? Somebody read Strong Signal and share the love with me. π
Aw Jean… *blushes* Y’all would probably pull your hair out if you had to live with me. π
A Different Blue…by Amy Harmon, right? Her books are SO good! And following this reading pattern I set for myself has helped tremendously with my TBR. I don’t freak (as much, at least) over all of my unread books and I’m actually starting to make a dent in my unread pile. Progress!! π
Lisa, the couple from The Play make small appearances in The Lie, and I’m curious now about their story. You’re right…they are a nice palette cleanser after reading something that works me over!
Also, have the day off, taking it easy after elbow procedure. Hard to do my nursing duties with my arm in a sling. Great excuse to stay home and read! π
Not sure where I got it, but I just started A New Season. H is a QB and h has had a crush on him since she was 12. She also is just returning back from China and has some kind of secret. So far so good and tiding me over until some new releases I’ve been waiting for come out tomorrow.
Fabi…unfortunately I don’t really feel anything with m/m. The few times that there has been a chapter in a male secondary character POV with another male, like in the Up In the Air series, I felt…nothing. π Heck, I can barely feel anything with a male-only POV book!
Megan…I know, I KNOW!! I was thinking the exact same thing with the shoulder wound, that it is either symbolic of something or a foreshadowing or whatever. My thought is what if that Neegan guy was around and watching when the incident happened in the middle of the road? He’s not going to just let Daryl get away with it. I just have a very bad feeling about this season. π
Cheryl, that sucks about the elbow procedure but it’s always good when you have an excuse to sit around and read! π
Cheryl, hope you have a speedy recovery with lots of great books!
I’m loving A Different Blue!
Cheryl, I hope you feel better soon.
I totally get you Amy. Not every genre is for every person.
Jean, I didn’t know that there were follow up books to Ricochet. I need to find these….
If you loved the first 3 Stark books then you will love the 3 books in the Stark International serie as well. 3 new Stark International books are releasing later this year.
Fabi, I love m/m books though I haven’t read that many. I started with Kele Moon, then moved on to Cara McKenna and Riley Hart. Cara McKenna is my absolute favorite. Have you read Stray Hearts and Convenient Strangers by her? I could need some m/m recommendations – maybe I should try Strong Signal?????
Oooh Jean I just looked it up, and you’re right! More to come after Ricochet and you can BET I will be reading that one (likely this week). YAY!!!!
I’m here – just finishing up RoomHate. Then onto the review.
Then onto a new read! π
Glad I could share the news about Ricochet! My girlfriend and I are still talking about it days later! You gotta read it Maryse!
And I can’t wait to see your revue of Roomhate…..as the days pass, I find myself thinking about it more and more!
Pia, I haven’t read either of those yet and I’m always looking for good mm recs so I’m adding them to my list. Yes, read Strong Signal. Gah! It’s so good. Let me know when you want more recs too. I’m building a pretty decent list of mm I’ve read.
Pia, Stray Hearts is only available in paperback. Waaahhhh it sounds so good too. But I did get a sample of Convenient Strangers. π
Back to Strong Signal now because I think it’s about to get heart wrenching. π I don’t want it to, but I just know its gonna.
Fabi, yes I bought Stray Hearts in paperback. But Stray Hearts is three novellas put together in a book – Backwoods, Shivaree and Getaway. All three novellas are kindle versions.
I need to read the follow ups to Ricochet first, but then Strong Signal it is π
HEY Y’ALL! MISS YOU GUYS! I finished Roomhate and really enjoyed it. Right now I’m on A Love So Tragic and damn IT’S TRAGIC!
Pia, the follow ups to Ricochet aren’t out yet and no release dates that I can find π Maybe Maryse can find out for us. So now you can jump right into Strong Signal with Fabi!
Hi Ela! Ooooo I was looking at that today…it looks tragic. Maybe after A Different Blue. Keep me updated!
I just finished Undo Me by M. Robinson! This book! God, it was so angsty. This book could go into the unrequited love and books that made me cry categories. This is the third book in the series and by far the best! The H/h went through years of torment to finally get to where they were at the end of the book. Please read these books, you won’t be disappointed!
OMG I’M BAWLING HUGE UGLY TEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Oh no Ela! Here’s Manny and some vodka! (You need something stronger than wine!)
Well damn, Ela, I’m having a hard enough time holding off on Ricochet and then you go and react like that. And I was wondering the other day if it was going to be as good as the blurb makes it sound…guess I have my answer now. π
Does anyone else smell catnip around here?
*sniff sniff* thanks Jean! *slurp*
Well that ended *spoiler*….
Really liked Roomhate…
So what’s next???
Thanks for the well wishes- just another thing breaking down on my old body! π
Ela you’re scaring me with your comments about A Love so Tragic. Guess it’s living up to it’s name. Is it one for the βIβll never forgive you for recommending this to meβ hardcore angst book list?
Last night I finished Legend by Katy Evans!!! Amazing!!! As all Katy’s books!! What awesome series & finale!! So sad it’s all over. So much angst, who is he…….?? I felt sorry for Mav at different parts of the book. Such a love story!!! So of course I had to start & finish something today!!! RoomHate by Penelope Douglas!!! Wow!!! Talk about angst, anger & love!! Yup it was one of those days work read work read & sneak a lil more reading !! Good thing I work from home or I’d be fired!! Good thing my boss is my hubby or I’d be fired!! Shhh!! I was productive today!! Two amazing books I would highly recommend!!
Oh gad Lisa, you just reminded me I have to get to Legend, but I’m a book behind. π
Mmmmm. Finished Beautiful Burn last night but it really didn’t do it for me. Can’t put my finger on what it was….maybe the unlikable h who I just couldn’t find any empathy for. And I get kind of confused with Jamie’s books that all occur at the same time. That throws me a bit. Nah. Didn’t love it but I wanted to. Maybe a 3 *.
Amy got me interested to read The Lie next because I’ve adored The Pact, The Offer and The Play on this series. This one sounds interesting.
Lisa…The Lie is a “safe” read. π
Hurry Fabi, get reading!!! Lisa, I’m shocked, I loved Beautiful Burn!!! I know what you are saying about all occurring at the same time but for me it didn’t bother me!! I just had to stop & think & then it all came together!! I love Jamie Mcguire’s writing!!!! What are we going to do now all the Maddox brothers are done & the Real series is done!!!!
Beautiful Burn, yet another one I don’t want to read yet because I haven’t read Shep’s story yet.
Damn, I’m dying to read Legend, but I’m a book behind too!
Gah!! Is Michelle here?
These Old Shades is 1.99! I love this book. Have been wanting to do a re-read for a long while. I used to read it all the time but been over a decade, maybe. This is a Georgian HR and I loved the MCs. There is a big age difference. Heyer is credited with helping establish the modern HR and hero types. Id LOVE for a br. Though not for everyone.
Maryse please add to sales. Pretty please. Rarely on sale & usually like 9.99.
You bet, bev!!! I’m adding it to the Friday list as we speak. π
Been a crazy week – sneaking some reading in between all these RL tasks.
Read RoomHate and LOVED it. Justin gave me the ‘queasy’ tingles in the beginning…but it was so worth it!
Just finished Red Card by Carrie Aarons ….love a good sports, international book. Hot, slightly older footballer….with lots of arrogance to spare *fans face* add in a hint of a troubled past. SOLD!
What to read next…..
Lisa M…I think Jamie McGuire is continuing the Beautiful series with Trex and Darby.
Pia, I found the novellas and got samples for now to line them up in my tbr. Thanks again for the recs.
Thanks Bev. I picked up These Old Shades. I read Barbara Cartland as a teenager and love Mary Balogh’s books. Excited that so many of her books are on Kindle Unlimited. I have a new book to read tonight after I finish Roxie Rivera’s latest. How is that to go from Russian Mob to Regency!
I second the recs for Cara Mckenna’s mm novellas! They were great. Backwoods, Shivaree, and Getaway were really good- Fabi you’ll like them. I’m reading The Other Man right now. Pretty good with a few editing issues and it looks, at 87%, that it will be a cliffhanger but I believe the second book is out in March according to goodreads.
DG- I’m adding Red Card to my tbr. I love a good sports romance too. I just finished A New Season by Sydney Aaliyah Michelle. He’s a QB that she’s had a crush on since she middle school. Good, but had some editing issues.
Finished Roomhate and one word, super sweet. I have to admit, I didn’t feel angsty throughout the book, just happy. However, I’m still smiling over it. π
Right there with you, Tessa (for Roomhate)
Ha ha speaking of editing issues- I meant to say since she *was* in middle school and he was a high school teammate of her older brother.
Kathy, If you haven’t read it before I hope you like it. Fingers crossed.
I read some Barbara Cartland as a teen too!
No problem Fabi, I am sure you will love them. I could use som mm recs – please π
I downloaded Strong Signal which I will start tonight. I was a bit hesistant because of the price. But the way you are all creazy about it I’m sure it is worth it π
ugh – crazy not creazy. Those fingers are too fast……
Jennifer, I love you for the heads up on the CH of The Other Man. I was just about to start reading it when I saw your post. I’ll try the other new one, Love Me Tenor. Then I think I’ll go with those McKenna novellas. Guess I’m on an mm kick for now.
Pia I’ll post a few favorites a little later today when I get on a computer. I think you’ll like Strong Signal. Santino and Megan pulled off that colab expertly. I finished last night and went to sleep with a smile on my face.
First line Thursday.
“She didn’t understand how something so pretty could be lethal.” ~Within this Frame by Lindy Zart.
I can hear the wind and rain and it makes me want to stay all snug with my book. But off I go.
First line Thursday!
“I lost my virginity on the floor of my sisterβs bedroom.” ~ Used by Lynetta Halat
Well then.
First line Thursday….
“One day you’re be-bopping along, jamming to the music in your head while wondering if your thighs can handle grabbing another cupcake on the way home.” Always Room for Cupcakes by Bethany Lopez
Cupcakes…need I say more?!?!
Started reading The Perfect Life this morning. After reading the prologue I have a feeling this one is going to hurt. *side-eyes Amy* Although, I’m not sure how I feel about prologues that foreshadow something “bad” that is going to happen in the story vs. just letting the story evolve.
“THE YOUNG MAN instructed the taxi driver to pull over at the curb near the intersection of Beacon and Charles, a popular tourist area that encompassed Boston Common, Public Garden, the bar where Cheers had been filmed, and a handful of other attractions all within a fifteen minute walk of each other.” The Perfect Life by Erin Noelle.
Ok 13% in The Perfect Life and *blink-blink*
Fabi, that line! 0.0
First line Thursday:
“You’ve heard the legends, I’m sure.”
Secret Society Girl by Diana Peterfreund
The book is about as thrilling as that line. It has the premise of that evil society that controls the world behind closed doors, but honestly, all I’ve seen is a keggar.
That was Amy! not me lol
MY (innocent) first line:
@NextDirectionShow Ready to find the next big Boy Band sensation?
Love me Tenor by Annabeth Albert
Maryse, Dawn Of Forever by Jewel E Ann was released today. This is the final book of her trilogy. It already has 41 reviews and they are all 5 stars!! Seriously, this is the best series!! You all have to read it!!
Ok. Do not like prologue that foreshadows future events and especially don’t like when too much info is given away at the beginning that otherwise could have added to the angst and wtf build throughout the story. *crosses arms and humpfs*
What was me?
*scrolls up*
Oh. *giggle* My first line. π
By the way, has anyone seen the trailer for The Witch? I am completely freaked out over that trailer. “Baa baa” WTF?!?
Cheryl, I don’t like that either. I also don’t like books that begin at the end and fill in the background story in the book.
Cheryl, I’m going to skip the prologue when I read that one…I was so excited to see it pop up in my library today! π
Anymore lately, it seems like I have a better chance of being blindsided if I *don’t* read the prologue. It’s as bad as when they reveal WAY too much in the blurb.
Agreed… some prologues have made me go AHHHH I didn’t want to know that yet!!!! *sigh*
Exactly Amy. That’s why if I read the blurb at all its just a quick skim. I go by titles and covers and lately, recs mostly.
Cheryl, that’s my biggest pet peeve. You all hate CH, but I despise prologue that hint at angst. 90% of the time, it kills some of the tummy twisting.
I’m at that point where nothing sounds good! I tried Ain’t me babe and Every which way and can’t get past page one. I have all these great books and blah. Oh and gave up on Secret Society Girl. No angst.
Pia, sorry it took so long. Here is my fav mm list. I’ve read about 50 of them and these are my top 20. They’re listed alphabetically by author last name – not by my like rating. These are almost all 5* for me. Most of them are break your heart romances. I’m sure you’ve read at least a few. π

That’s a great idea Amy. I would definitely not read the prologue although, there’s still more info given than I would like fairly early in the story. The tummy-twisting angst level would be higher otherwise.
I started my first line book before work. I will probably stick with it but I’m not sure it is exactly what I’m in the mood for now.
I keep thinking of when I first read At Peace. That is what I want. Not a KA but that feeling of being immediately hooked and falling into the story. Maybe finding something a bit different.
I just remembered this was when everyone was calling these books crack.
Oh well back to my book.
Agreed bev…
I find I can put them down more often than I’d like to. I miss my utter freak-out book-love-fog of Sweet Dreams and Beautiful Disaster and Thoughtless and a few others that had me forced to put them down because of work, and barely able to function because I was in book-love. LOL!!!!
I tried Every Which Way again, got past the first page, and began to grin with the promise of angst. Oh, Secret Society Girl was a DNF at 52%.
First line Thursday
‘Everything came down to choices.’
Every Which Way by Calia Read
Finished RoomHate and really liked it! It was sweet and a little angsty.
First line Thursday: “I sprint down the hospital corridor, dodging patients, other visitors and a delivery guy with an enormous bouquet of flowers.” Over You- H.M.Ward
Every chapter of The Perfect life begins with a quote from the poet Christopher Poindexter. This one somehow reminded me of our group here. Hmmm, romance, novels…
βThe truth about romance is this: We are all novels; our pages stained with the fingerprints of either our lovers or loneliness.β
Cheryl – The cover snagged my attention first for Red Card….and I am a sucker for those accents! I will definitely check out A New Season….I’m a equal opportunity sports reader/lover/observer/fan….baseball, American football, football (aka soccer), wrestling, hockey….yeah, I could probably continue but I will stop.
Started on a tried and true read for me…..Melanie Harlow’s Some Sort of Love. The blurb just got me! Single father who feels like he does not deserve anything beyond what he already has….GAH! Just “fork” it on over! *giggles to self*
How is it DG? THAT one has my attention too.
First Line Friday:
It was a dirty job but someone had to do it. “Oh my God Jensen” my stepmother moaned as she wrapped her long legs around my hips.
*blink blink*
Arrogant Bastard by Winter Renshaw
I know it’s actually two lines but you all needed context!
OH MY Lisa!!! *whooooo* π
Alrighty then….
π I totally agree with your review Maryse. Sometimes I think some of these books truly broke my “angst meter”. Either that, or I just like worrying a little too much. However, for sweet, it absolutely stole my heart.
Cheryl, your book sounds good. *starts a wavering eye* No wait. This book might have a love triangle. Keep love triangle.
I am officially on a book diet! The horrifying reality of how many books I one-clicked last month has pushed me into ‘addict’ territory….so I am on the wagon book buddies.
No more grazing through Amazon book suggestions…no more ogling book covers….no more sneaky little book purchases. Just NO.
Keep me strong people!
Ermmm…..all my pre-orders don’t count though. π
DG- I read that one. Not a angsty read. Truly not a lot to it compared to her previous books. Didn’t have me too invested in the MC’s. Good read not great.
Tessa- ahem, yes a love triangle but, I was surprised early on.
Tessa is meeting the Sloan brothers!!!! Yep, a love triangle…of a sort. π
I miss being in book-love, too. π It doesn’t seem to happen as often anymore…kind of like when I binged on YA and “grown up” PNR a few years ago, and then after a while that genre lost its magic for me. I guess that’s why it’s good to mix it up, right?
*snort* Lisa, you’re asking US to keep you strong?? π
The Sloan Brothers? Did I miss something?
I’m curious. All you angst lovers, no spoilers, and hit me where it hurts readers. I like to re-read and I like series. I also read certain authors because I like them and they write in a certain way each time. I know exactly what I’m getting. I like angst and surprises but sometimes want the known.
So do you ladies re-read or like the known and comfortable? Or does it always have to be new and unknown?
Jean…Tessa is reading Every Which Way. π
Bev…the only time I want the known, like something so sweet it makes my teeth hurt or a guaranteed HEA, is after I’ve read something that has absolutely torn me up and drained me mentally and emotionally. Even though you know I love that. π
Did anyone ever read In the Fields by Willow Aster? 99 cents today and my clicker finger is twitchy!
Jean, I loved that book!! Minimal angst but a LOT of emotion, especially from the unfairness of her situation in that time period. I *know* you would love it!
Jean, that one was in discussion not long ago. Bev maybe?
Bev, I’m not an angst lover but I truly hate knowing anything about a book I’m about to read. I like to go in as blind as possible. I seldom reread. I maybe have a handful of books in the thousands I’ve read that are rereads for me. Even so, it’s years between rereads.
Lately though, I’ve gotten a little particular about knowing if it ends in a CH or doesn’t have an HEA, but on only because I want to avoid those books if at all possible. —Funny, I don’t remember this being an issue back in the day when books were exclusively paper based. Maybe it was the genres I read, but they all had an ending even when they were part of a series.
Thanks Amy! I knew that was the author of true Love Story, but I haven’t read that yet either. I just finished A Different Blue by Amy Harmon. It was beautiful! Now, I think I need angst or craziness or different genre or just some hot sex…..lol! As you can see, I’m undecided! I want that kind of book you and Maryse were talking about…..can’t put down, can’t wait to get back to it, and the flutters in my tummy!! Any suggestions? I should be picking from one of the 950 I have downloaded…..
Madsen has me worried. I keep thinking something is gonna happen based on what’s going on.
I re-read a lot. It helps me get out of those book fogs. That usually works, anyway. If not for Sloan brothers, I’d probably be rereading right now. π
Jean…go back to Maryse’s I’ll-never-forgive-you post! THAT will give you some ideas. π Have you read Accidentally On Purpose? It wasn’t a 5-star read for me, but oh MAN it had some crazy gut-twisting angst!! I had trouble putting that one down. Fair warning, she’s a cheater but she doesn’t come away from it all with no consequences. Honestly, I could compare the angst and feels to Avoiding Commitment.
Tessa…make sure you check in here after the scene in the coffee shop parking lot. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you get to it. π
Good idea Amy…..I will go back to that list. I have AOP and AC, but haven’t read either of them!
*gasp* Jean!! You have to read at least one of those if you’re craving angst right now!!!!!
Maryse – I liked it! I agree with Cheryl though…definitely not an angsty read. To me there was a lot of RL emotions flying …frustrations (which I even felt! Just wanted to reach into the pages and shake him!!!!) ,lots of sweet love…soulmate kinda love. *looking around starry eyed*. If I had to rate it, it would fall as a definite 4 stars.
Haha! Ok Amy! I purchased the AC box set back in July of 2014 and AOP in December 2013. Since I’m trying to tackle my TBR like you are by years they were downloaded, that would mean AC….5 books bundled….intimidating. Did you read the whole series Amy?
I am so squirrelly……honestly, it will probaby take me all day to decide what to read next and I’m waiting for Maryse’s list for today (like I need more options)!
Bev – I do like to re-read my favs…but for the most part I am chasing that new read HiGH!! I’m a sucker for HEAs, absolutely LOATH cliffhangers, can handle angsty as long as I get the vibes that my prince (whether dark or not) finds his princess AND lastly if you don’t hook me by at the latest 10% into a book….you’ve lost me!
Amy! That…That… A$$! *grumbles*
Maryse – do you have A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole down for a March 15 2016 release date? It’s described by Tillie as being a New Adult Tearjerker…….
A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole??!! Wow, no I didn’t, but thank you for pointing it out, DG!!! π
Tessa, RIGHT?!? I about lost my sh!t when that happened!
Jean…with AC, I read all three books and there really are no CH’s so you can move on to something else until you’re ready to come back to the series. I didn’t read the Chyna novella (her friend) because I just didn’t care all that much about that character, and the other novella is a quick read from both guys’ POV from what I remember. AOP wraps itself up and book 2 is about one of the guys. DON’T read the blurb or it will spoil book 1. Hope this helps ya!
Thanks Amy! Annnndddd now Tessa has me squirrelly with that reaction. I have to go check out these Sloan books.
I do not want the known and like going into a story fairly blind. I will find out some about the book when I make sure that it doesn’t end in a CH or is the first book in a series- which I absolutely hate. I love the book that from the beginning gives me the feels and I guess I could say I’m pretty spoiled in that I think *most* books will end with some type of HEA. The only time I re-read is if a book that has interrelated characters comes out and it’s been a while and I need to refresh my memory.
Question ladies – has anyone read Drantos (VLG series) by Laurann Dohner? Ran across it earlier and am intrigued….feeling like a change for the weekend…a little vamp…
Ok just did a re-read of all the comments. Lol!!! Never read an m/m not sure I could get into one, but should really try, any suggestions for my first!! Love re-reads, some books I could read over & over!! Beautiful Disaster, Mystery Man, Motorcycle Man, Remy & the list goes on!! Don’t like CH’s, like to know if the book I’m reading is one & when the sequel is out!! Love HEA’s!! Need to smile at the end when I’m crying inside because it’s over!! Thanks Lisa for reminding me of Jamie McGuire’s next book, I did read that at the end but had a senior moment!! Who are these Sloan brothers Tessa is talking about?? Also really Lisa a book diet??? I’m addicted too!! Never giving it up!!
Lisa M my first M/M was “Bear, Otter and the Kid” and I LOVED IT!!!!!!! I too didn’t know if I’d be able to get into them, but I became the “hero” in love with the other hero. π
It’s very cool when you realize you can “be anyone” that you are reading, if it’s written well. π
P.S. Don’t contemplate the cover too much. The book inside is right up our alley. I find a lot of M/M covers leave something to be desired… LOL!
It’s something that Amy recommended. Every Which Way by Calia Read. I am now getting back to it. Though, oh so many thoughts.
Uh-oh Tessa, that sounds like the thoughts might not all be good ones. π
No, good thoughts. Right now in the book it’s New Years Eve. I just wish I could just sit and read this thing and not have life interrupt me. lol
Jean!! I get the giggles every time one of you mentions squirrelling books. Here ‘Squirrel’ is a slang term for lady parts….like beaver I guess. *snort*
My immature brain finds this immensely amusing. π
Haha Lisa! I will never look at that word the same way again!
OMG! *snort* Now I’m going to snicker like a middle schooler every time I hear the word squirrel, LOL!!!
Thanks Maryse!! Will definitely check it out as you recommended it!! I can’t go wrong!!! The Sloan Brothers is that from The Perfect Lie???
I just downloaded the book!! I see what you mean by the cover Maryse!!!
