HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY and may I just say…. HOLY MOLY HUGE LIST FULLY LOADED in awesomeness!!!!

Jean: Just finished My Torin! Loved, loved, loved it! So amazing.! Move this one up on your TBRs girls, like asap!!!!!!

Kooloo: My Torin is brilliant. DO IT & DO IT NOW

Tessa: FYI, last night I was in tears because of the BEGINNING of a book: King Hall. It was on my wishlist forever then went on sale sometime around Black Friday and ugh. Honest truth though, it has all I love. School setting (college), paranormal fantasy stuffs, emotion/ angst, politics influencing everything, and a jerk. Right now, my tummy is operating in an anger at the world mode. lol

Maryse, can you please make a list of cop romances?
Anyone else going to read the KA Tucker one….or the Buried in Lies one?!!

Nay January 23, 2018 at 8:18 AM

Good morning!

Wow! So many good ones up there, and a BDB world novella–gah! Even more reason to get caught up in that series!

Ooh, ooh! I know a great cop book! The Brave Line by Kate Stewart.

Maryse January 23, 2018 at 8:37 AM

I’ll be reading Keep Her Safe for SURE!!!!!

Maryse January 23, 2018 at 8:38 AM

Absolutely, Janie. It’s fast becoming one of my favorite genres. ;)

Janie January 23, 2018 at 9:03 AM

Thanks Maryse! It’s definitely becoming one of my favorite genres too. I love a good mystery or thriller aspect thrown into a romance!

Grey January 23, 2018 at 9:45 AM

Must. Not. Click. Gah, I hate the book ban. I need the KU list

*tosses glitter* it’s Tuesday! And there are some heavy hitters in that list. Man…

bev January 23, 2018 at 10:08 AM

Good Morning.
I hope everyone has a great day today.

Grey you got this. How long are you going for?

bev January 23, 2018 at 10:31 AM

Golden by My Morning Jacket.

Love his voice in this song. And the guitars..tjat rhythm. Reminds me a bit of that Johnny Cash rhythm. Just in this one.

Jean January 23, 2018 at 11:29 AM

Good day mates!

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 12:05 PM

lol Grey, just click and see if they are in KU. :) The cover of Thrall got me, and it’s a KU.

Maryse January 23, 2018 at 12:16 PM

It’s true Grey. There’s a vast majority of them in all the lists I post, that are KU. :D !!!

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 1:00 PM

*nods* I’d say anywhere for 25-50 percent each week are KU. I stopped looking for that, and started just looking at what’s up there that Maryse is enticing me with to pick. Like, *grins* Thrall. Ryan’s Bed, though, not KU. :)

Grey January 23, 2018 at 1:42 PM

*no* if I look and it’s not KU… I could be swayed. It’s not safe. *grumble* *grabs Manny and dives into the blankie fort*

Thanks bev, at least until March 1st. Gah. Why do I do this stupid crap?

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 1:50 PM

Tell me which and I’ll check for you…. *looks through what’s available in KU* Nevermind. Don’t look this time. An unusally low number of books on KU today. I did find two mafia books though.

Leslie M January 23, 2018 at 2:01 PM

Ok folks, I used my immersion blender and lived to tell about it. ;)

It was much like using my hand mixer. You have to be careful as to not splatter everywhere, and…of course a little scarier because soup was boiling hot, but…it worked just fine. It was very nice not having to clean blender or food processor. So yay me and my homemade tomato soup!!

Nay January 23, 2018 at 2:34 PM

Yay, Leslie!

I’m definitely going to do a tomato soup with mine. I just have to get all the ingredients. Maybe this weekend..

Leslie M January 23, 2018 at 3:05 PM

So good…I want to eat whole pot!

Maryse January 23, 2018 at 4:08 PM

Now I’m in the mood for tomato soup and grilled cheese sammiches.

MichelleS January 23, 2018 at 6:11 PM

The H in My Torin has Autism? Hmmmm… I’m pretty picky when it comes to that. Needs to be authentic, not cliche. Someone who read it tell me how they dealt with this?

MichelleS January 23, 2018 at 6:13 PM

King Hall sounds totally up my alley! A new Adult Fantasy Series? YES! Tessa… you MUST update your progress & report back STAT. No pressure.

MichelleS January 23, 2018 at 6:19 PM

Ryan’s Bed … OMG… you just know that one needs a blankie fort & box of Kleenex! Gah!!! How sad is that little blurb?

Jan January 23, 2018 at 6:30 PM

Sad news that Ursula K Leguin has passed away. Legendary fantasy and science fiction author. Wrote the Earthsea books and many more. :(

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/23/obituaries/ursula-k-le-guin-acclaimed-for-her-fantasy-fiction-is-dead-at-88.html

Jean January 23, 2018 at 6:31 PM

MichelleS, I read My Torin and it was pretty authentic. In the beginning of the book, the author wrote that she had done a lot of research. Also, he is considered to have high functioning autism (not sure if i said that right). His main issue was communicating and showing emotion. (Hope that doesn’t spoil anything). Loved the book!

Linda January 23, 2018 at 7:17 PM

Sorry what is KU?

Maryse January 23, 2018 at 7:40 PM

Linda, it’s “Kindle Unlimited” (a program on Amazon that we can subscribe to that allows us to “borrow” books for free to read). :D

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 7:43 PM

KU is Kindle Unlimited. :)

Sad to hear about Ursula K Leguin. Earthsea was the first high fantasy that I truly enjoyed. She told the story without CH at the end of each chapter, trusting the story itself would keep me enthralled. I read through the series in one sitting.

MichelleS, I really enjoyed it. I went to read another book, and my mind wouldn’t get off of it. I think the angst could’ve been higher at certain points, but it’s six books, so I think it was more about really establishing the group’s friendship and how things play. There were two things that I felt didn’t get the full attention it deserved, but past that, it was super good. Probably 4.5 stars because they didn’t take certain angst as far as they could with those two things. lol If done right, though, the next one should hurt!

Cheryl January 23, 2018 at 7:48 PM

Listening to Bastille- World Gone Mad while reading the prologue in Waiting for the Sun. Coincidence? I. Think. Not! Sniffling already and biting my nails in anticipation of the cliffhanger. UGH.

R. Renee January 23, 2018 at 8:10 PM

Cheryl thank you for the music tip! I’m in the process of creating the playlist for book 2 and I’m short several songs. If anyone’s heard the playlist from book one *cough Grey* and knows any bands who have a similar feel let me know. I want to try to avoid covers unless it’s better than the original.

Grey January 23, 2018 at 8:24 PM

Full stop! I need help. (and yes, I hear you, I’m on it, R!)

So, I don’t know if you guys saw my Facebook post. But I took my son (13 years old) to the LIBRARY, because he asked!!! Woohoo, I may have danced. (in my head, because I’m a cool mom and never would embarrass him like that… no wait, I would *totally* embarrass him like that… *giggle*) Anyway, he’s reading… usually, he only reads in his off season, or if he’s grounded from electronics haha! he’s a MAD sports enthusiast, you name it, he plays it… but modified high school season is a bit different than the town league, and he doesn’t play gadgets during the week…. wow… LONG winded explanation for me telling you all what I need HELP with! *He* needs book recommendations!

He previously has read Kathryn Lasky’s Guardians of Ga’Hoole series and was very much attached, I think he’s read the series (15 books), like 4 times. It was very much a beloved favorite. He’s reading The Maze Runner in school right now, but they can’t read ahead….so he’s bummed about that. He’s read Percy Jackson series and Harry Potter… I just ordered him a book series by Brandon Sanderson The Reckoners series that he said looked interesting. But… please help!

bev January 23, 2018 at 8:42 PM

One of those weird times when bored and not sure what to do. Kinda want to read, but kinda don’t. Kinda want to watch something, but kinda don’t.

bev January 23, 2018 at 8:44 PM

R, do you want songs that have a certain meaning, tell a certain story?

R. Renee January 23, 2018 at 8:47 PM

Yes bev, but it’s hard to pinpoint. I find a band that fits and listen until something clicks. Sometimes I find the PERFECT song, but the band isn’t right. But if you know of any love hurts songs, that’s the typical gist!

Grey January 23, 2018 at 8:54 PM

Oasis ~ Wonderwall

R. Renee January 23, 2018 at 8:55 PM

Emma just used that in The Butterfly Project, but the sound fits!

Jody January 23, 2018 at 9:04 PM

Where is this music list? I love music…

bev January 23, 2018 at 9:05 PM

Most of mine you’d probably know. This year I want to keep up with newer or newer to me music.
Many on your play list i havent heard before, so that’s fun. So won’t necessarily know the sound. But might throw some songs out because it’s fun. And I love when Everyone does music recs, even if it turns out to not be my type.
Like ypu.and Amy always rec female singers which is good because I tend to lean towards male, though I love a lot of female singers.

Speaking of have you heard Somebody to Love by Valerie June? The album version. Love her voice and the vulnerability of it though very simple song.

R. Renee January 23, 2018 at 9:06 PM

Jody IDK if you mean mine, but I’ll be happy to force it on…I mean share it with you! :D http://www.robinhillwrites.com/music.html

bev January 23, 2018 at 9:06 PM

Grey I love you for that rec. Gah, I loved them when I was like 16….still do.

R. Renee January 23, 2018 at 9:07 PM

I’ll check it out now bev. You’re right! I do lean toward female singers! Wasn’t even aware!

Leslie M January 23, 2018 at 9:15 PM

Grey, my son started with Percy Jackson then went on to other series by Rick Riordan. He loves them!

The Hero’s of Olympus
Kane Chronicles
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 9:15 PM

*grins* Grey, you are speaking my language! lol Let me go through my stuff and avoid those YA that could go a little too NA. The only one of those series I haven’t read is the Owl one.

-Abarat by Clive Barker – This is his only YA book, and it’s not horror, but pure fantasy. It’s pretty fascinating.
-Eragon by Christopher Paolini (better than the movie, but the movie was decent)
-Garth Nix books, just those in general. lol I read Mister Monday and that series, but someone else read Sabriel and love it. :)
-Christopher Pike books. (RL Stine’s Fear street books are good too, but the writing isn’t as on par as Pike’s books are.)
-Chronicles of Nick by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It’s actually GEARED towards young boys. :D
Darkest Mind by Alexandra Bracken – Thank you Fabi for getting me hooked on that one.
The Xanth series by Piers Anthony
Robert Asprin Myth series
Yes, I admit it. I love books that are fantasy but geared towards young boys. ROFL

Now, things rec to me: The Thief by Megan Whalan Turner
I am Number Four by Pattacus Lore
5th Wave by Rick Yancey
Firestar’s Quest by Erin Hunter

Uh… This is just the beginning. lol

bev January 23, 2018 at 9:19 PM

One older song I am loving right now is Clay Pigeons by John Prime. It doesn’t really fit but because I like it I want to rec it, lol. Plus, it mentions Texas.

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 9:20 PM

And yeah, I just have to read the latest Magnus book from Rick Riordin and the crossover of Kane and Jackson books. If he continues the Percy books, the next set is Heroes of Olympus and then the Apollo books, which are not complete yet. The other two, Kane and Magnus, are different parthenons. The characters appear from Percy, but only as a side character. I don’t even think Kane introduces Percy stuff until their crossover. It’s been a while since I’ve read the Kane books.

bev January 23, 2018 at 9:26 PM

R, do you listen to the Alabama Shakes? I lead singers voice is great.

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 9:26 PM

Alriht, Robin. I’m throwing this out there – The Kill by 30StM. *grins* You didn’t have a single one by them in your playlist. Any like that, well, I’ll look through mine.

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 9:30 PM

Oh, Everybody Hurts by REM

Leslie M January 23, 2018 at 9:33 PM

Tessa, I was thinking that one! Funny.

I am picky with my music (just like books) and my fave genre is 90′s rock/alt rock.

R, I am thinking you don’t want Soundgarden or Pearl Jam recs? Hee hee

Grey January 23, 2018 at 9:39 PM

Whew. I have just spent the past hour bending poor R’s ear on FB, she’s probably SOOO sick of me now, haha!

TESSA!!! You’re my hero! I mean, for more than just the normal reasons. Ok, so when we went to the library, because we had to order the book series that we’d looked up, (the Brandon Sanderson one…) we were looking through the YA books and we picked up a David Baldacci one, called The Finisher? He started it tonight, couldn’t even wait til we got home, started reading during the 3 minute car ride…we’ll see.

Cheryl January 23, 2018 at 9:45 PM

R, a few songs off the top of my head that are love hurts theme:

Creep -Radiohead; Madness -Muse; Bring Me to Life – Evanescence; Unsteady- X Ambassadors.

R. Renee January 23, 2018 at 9:50 PM

bev: Somebody to Love by Valerie June–liking this! Definite potential. I think I’ve heard Alabama Shakes, but need a refresher. listening now.

Tessa!! You KNOW I want 30STM but they don’t fit at all. I tried so hard to make it work for the first one.

Leslie, I’m good with anything if it has the right “feel.” I went with Miley Cyrus on my last for goodness sakes! :D

Not even Grey! I think I may have found my opener!! XOXO!

bev January 23, 2018 at 10:03 PM

Time Has Told Me by Nick Drake
Lover You Should’ve Come Over by Jeff Buckley
I’m Your Man by Leonard Cohen

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 10:08 PM

Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn? I’ll look up FInisher. I haven’t seen that one before. :)

I know R. But, I had to mention it because it’s them! Another thought with the Doors comes Joplin, Piece of My Heart.

bev January 23, 2018 at 10:09 PM

A 90s playlist would be awesome.

Now need to choose what I’m going to do before my bedtime. And make some cheesy ramen.

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 10:12 PM

OMG… *facepalms* Grey, Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin.

R. Renee January 23, 2018 at 10:14 PM

WHOA bev. Time Has Told Me…lyrics are PERFECT. Unsure of the sound but I think it will work. It’s on the short list. Thanks!

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 10:17 PM

Bev, my problem with a nineties playlist is I basically boycotted a lot of music in the 90s, lol I finally gave up with Mirror, Mirror won best rap Grammy, and I couldn’t escape 5 slow songs for one decent song. So, the nineties until Matchbox 20 was full of oldies discovery, country, classical and opera, and musicals. MOSTLY musicals. :)

bev January 23, 2018 at 10:22 PM

One more then done.

The Last Goodbye by the Kills.
The way she sings it just makes me think of an old torch song.

Grey January 23, 2018 at 10:27 PM

2 hours spent on music. A night well spent!

Tessa, no, it’s Steelheart, well that’s the first one. They’re getting it from a library 35 miles away. LOL.

Ok, night all!

bev January 23, 2018 at 10:28 PM

So, R. It’s funny because there is a famous pic of Nick Drake and it popped into my head when in the book she sees Darian in a suit leaning against a wall. Of course Nick Drake is a lot sadder story.
I’ve always loved that line of a “Troubled cure for a troubled mind.”
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQmaH0c_b0G_6NwUuzqXYQQdwrtV615bT6Fy68avMEjKzsIjvI9
Now I need to listen to Pink Moon.

bev January 23, 2018 at 10:32 PM

Tessa, lol.

Such a mix though. The alternative, Lilith Fair type, 2nd Brit invasion, ska, rap, r&b and so on.

bev January 23, 2018 at 10:33 PM

Oh and country. I was listening to early to mid 90s country not long ago.

Tessa January 23, 2018 at 11:14 PM

The 2nd British invasion was 80s. :) I totally missed the move from Mirror, Mirror (*shudders* How in the world did THAT win a Grammy?) to gangster rap. And yes, it was because of that song. It was so horrible I stopped listening to any station that would play it.

I got into music when it started Ska, and Lilith Fair type (which most I’d be happy to miss).

R&B was part of why I stopped listening. The music was mostly soft, romantic stuff that after three, would bore me to tears. I love them alone. Gimme Boys II Men’s End of the Road, I’ll Make Love to You, etc, or Mariah Carey’s stuff, and sure, I like it. But, mixed with other things. I can’t take it all at once. It just puts me to sleep.

Now! Alternative! My nephew was into it and listened to it all the time on MTV so I missed nothing. lol I’d read while he’d watch them. I even accidently learned grunge, most of which kept me from going to KROQ. Ironically, LOVE grunge lyrics, but seriously, I don’t understand a word Kurt Cobain said.

Jody January 24, 2018 at 12:56 AM

R. Yea, I was asking about yours, sorry! I wanted an idea of what you like. I’ve got everything from classical to metal.

On that note.. I highly recommend Nothing But Thieves, Seafret and City and Colour.

Ugh, this is tough when I don’t know what people have heard already. I’m fond of Tori Amos and Sarah McLaughlin’s 90s stuff. Meg Myers. Chet Faker. Jeff Buckley. As Tall As Lions. Embers (UK)

Specifically, Oceandust by Hands Like Houses. It’s probably a *huge* stretch but I’ll throw it out there… Stay & Don’t Lose Your Heart by Dream on Dreamer.

A lot of what I have is more along the industrial, hard rock, metal genres. I’m rambling! Just let me know if any of this strikes a chord & maybe I can come up with more. (I may have opened Spotify while writing this.) Haha.

Jody January 24, 2018 at 1:07 AM

Tessa, funny story. Back when Nirvana was new, I couldn’t understand most of what Kurt said either. Fast forward a few years, I got into metal. (A surprise.) I went back and listened to Nirvana and found I could understand him better. Haha

Tessa January 24, 2018 at 3:03 AM

lol I loved metal before the grunge movement. He just slurs his words so much, I’m lost. It wasn’t until lyrics became a popular thing to post on the internet that I actually knew what the words were. Also, hearing covers of them. Those usually sound good. :D

Melinda January 24, 2018 at 7:41 AM

Grey, my children read goodnight Mr Tom in the 1st year of high school it’s by Michelle Magorian and I have read it 4 times for school it’s really good.

And we stay Jenny Hubbard
Hunger games
Now Morris gleitzman
Soon Morris gleitzman
Paperboy Vince vawter

Melinda January 24, 2018 at 7:50 AM

I have been reading Midnight Blue and I am loving it. Nearly finished,

Oh and one more maybe 2. To kill a mockingbird Harper lee.
And a Australian book that is sort of similar or based on To kill a Mockingbird called Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey racially based against aboriginals it very good.

Jean January 24, 2018 at 9:58 AM

Missed all the talk about music last night!

But regarding library books, I have a friend whose daughter is mentally disabled (27 years old, but more like a teenager). She took her to the library and couldn’t really find any books for her. She ended up with The Princess Diaries. The recommendations were not fitting for her. Any suggestions from you guys?

R. Renee January 24, 2018 at 10:05 AM

Thanks for all the suggestions! I’m making a list as soon as I get home today and checking them out! I love including lesser known bands with The Doors!

Jean January 24, 2018 at 10:42 AM

I just won a Goodreads giveaway! I never win! Man Hands (hate the cover) by Sarina Bowen (but love the author)!

Jean January 24, 2018 at 10:48 AM

Robin, someone just suggested a band to me this week, Greta van Fleet….. they sound a lot like Led Zeppelin and even do some of their stuff. Don’t know if any songs will apply to your book, but you should check them out!

Tessa January 24, 2018 at 11:03 AM

*grins* I adored the Princess Diaries books. Some of these are oldies, but they have the same heart as Princess Diaries.

-Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants
-Really, any of Meg Cabot books. Even her paranormal have that feel to it.
-The old Sweet Valley High books
-To see if she likes PNR, besides Twilight there is Secret Circle by LJ Smith
-For more drama, Pretty Little Liars or Eleanor and Park
-Barthe Clemente wrote a bunch of kid books, Nothings Fair in the Fifth Grade, but that series has two YA book that were far better. Ninth Grade Blues and Seventeen and In Between. These are much older, but they were good enough to re-read even as an adult.

Tell me what else she’s into, and I might have more ideas.

Jean January 24, 2018 at 11:34 AM

Thank you so much Tessa! That’s a huge help!

Kathy P. January 24, 2018 at 11:45 AM

Grey, I have a 14 year old son who is not a reader. Much to his Mom’s dismay but my 11 year old daughter loves to read so that helps:)

Here are a couple of recommendations that my son actually liked and wanted the next book in the series:
1. The Compound by S.A. Bodeen. The second book in the series is the Fallout.
2. John Grisham’s Kid Lawyer Series (6 books in series). Both my son and daughter like these books.

R. Renee January 24, 2018 at 12:08 PM

Oooh thank you Jean!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some Led Zeppelin! I’m listening to them now. Awesome!

R. Renee January 24, 2018 at 12:16 PM

OK that was weird. I’ve never heard of them, so I go ask the hubs if he has and he was *just* texting his friend in Alabama about them this morning! Tickets for Austin go on sale Friday and they’re going!

Jean January 24, 2018 at 12:59 PM

That’s crazy Robin! Their good, right? You and I definitely have same tastes in music!

Leslie M January 24, 2018 at 2:15 PM

R, I was actually going to suggest Thank You by Led Zep but only so could I throw in Chris Cornell’s beautiful acoustic cover. ;)

Melinda January 24, 2018 at 3:40 PM

Jean there’s heaps actually

What about slammed Colleen Hoover
Chinese Cinderella
Twilight
Shopaholic
The great Gatsby
The Vincent boy Abbie glines
Sisterhood of the travelling pants

How many do you want?

Jean January 24, 2018 at 3:45 PM

Thanks Melinda! I think Slammed would be a little too heavy for her. Think more Judy Blume or Disney…..no sex scenes (she is already sexually frustrated enough….lol….loves boys and always has a boyfriend.. but ya know, she’s just hand holding or dancing).

Cheryl January 24, 2018 at 6:00 PM

R. forgot about this song until I heard it today. REM- The One I Love. Also my daughter has me listening to the Front Bottoms. Lipstick covered magnet, Swimming Pool are a couple that come to mind.

MichelleS January 24, 2018 at 6:55 PM

Every time I hear “Somebody that I used to know” by Gotye, I immediately think of a book I’m reading.

And “Just the way you are” by Bruno Mars is my Rhage & Mary song. LOL.

bev January 24, 2018 at 8:25 PM

One REM song I love is At My Most Beautiful, just think it is beautiful.
Right now listening to English Rose. Paul Seller’s solo live version.
Then onto Galway Girl by Steve Earle. But that song always brings to mind PS I Love You , the movie.

Robyn January 24, 2018 at 9:38 PM

Just wanted to let everyone know that Katy Regenery’s Unloved is on sale for .99! I have wanted to read this book for awhile, every since Maryse put on her recommend list. Now its on sale and I can! YIPEE!

Jody January 24, 2018 at 10:17 PM

R. I totally forgot to mention The Tea Party! My fave song is Temptation. (Of course.)

Tessa, kids these days don’t know how good they have it. I used to listen to a radio station that was operated by high school students. They would hardly ever mention band names. I remember having to wait for a particular song and have to jot down what lyrics I thought I heard. Then hope they were online somewhere… there are songs that still haunt me…

Tessa January 24, 2018 at 10:23 PM

At least you had online. I would call the radio station and ask them. It was the only way to find out, though most stations would name each song. Probably from all of us calling and asking the name of the song. Literally, before the song list they would say what was playing next, then after, they would list every single song they played. I wish they all still did that.

Sarah January 25, 2018 at 3:39 AM

Could not put Seek down. It was amazing. Finally out of my book rut!

Jean January 25, 2018 at 9:57 AM

Sarah, thanks for the feedback! I can’t decide whether to start that or Ryan’s Bed today…… decisions, decisions…….

Maryse January 25, 2018 at 10:02 AM

YAY!! Thank you for letting us know, Robyn! I posted it. :D

Jan January 25, 2018 at 5:42 PM

Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game, which everyone floved when it came out, is on sale today for $1.60. Bargain.

Is anyone gonna do FLT today? I’ll break the ice. I’m reading a book from one of YOUR RECS, Maryse. And liking it :D

I walked into the meeting fifteen minutes late.
from The Difference Between Us by Rachel Higginson.

It’s bk 2 after The Opposite of You. Anyone remember the beard controversy, and the beard apron etc etc? Well, Ezra, the hot H in this one DOESN”T have a beard. And he is hot. Older, dour, grumpy, taciturn, but he has a tender spot for the h. Sweet and low-angst so far.

Maryse January 25, 2018 at 6:36 PM

OMG JAN YESSSSSS I LOVED THAT BOOOOOOK!!!!!

Maryse January 25, 2018 at 6:41 PM

I loved The Difference Between Us too, Jan. Not as much as The Opposite of You, but certainly enough to make my top 2017 list. :)

Leslie M January 25, 2018 at 7:08 PM

Seek is getting lots of love. I might need to read that one soon.

Jan, I liked The Difference Between Us! Ezra…*happy sigh*

I am reading audiobook, so can’t really do FLT. :(

Jean January 25, 2018 at 7:15 PM

FLT: The first time I snuck into Ryan Jensen’s bed was an accident. (Ryan’s Bed by Tijan)

Leslie, I almost started Seek first, just couldn’t decide…… That one will probably be next!

Kooloo January 25, 2018 at 7:19 PM

Robyn to me Patty Griffin IS AUSTIN!!!
The songs that could be the soundtrack to WFTS most Kleenex grabbing moments are…

You Are Not Alone – https://youtu.be/chU5b7bgls4

When It Don’t Come Easy – https://youtu.be/knEnMCmTZGI

Rain – https://youtu.be/pFbjE7NFmUI

Up To The Mountain – https://youtu.be/p_AHpwjP8G4

bev January 25, 2018 at 7:23 PM

My flt(s) are the same as last week. I suck.

Tessa January 25, 2018 at 8:11 PM

Jean, I got that one, so you have to tell me how it is.

Alright, I just finished a series I had to read all the way through; The Tainted Accords by Kelly St. Clare. 4 book fantasy that involves a severely abused “princess” and um, her adventures. Seriously a lot just happens. That’s the best explanation without any spoilers. :D

So, I guess, my desire for fantasy is back! YEAH!

bev January 25, 2018 at 8:44 PM

Tessa you are making me jealous. I haven’t done a glom in so long.
I want a book. A book with a slow delicious burn. A book I cannot wait to get back to. A book I think about when I am away from it. A book with a likable heroine. A book that shows not tells. A book with zippy witty conversation. A book that has conversations.

That book.

Of course I probably wouldn’t read that book.

Maryse, you should do a post on book slumps. Not how to overcome them or book recs….cause we are not reading. But on where and on what the book time is being used. Where has the attention been diverted.

R. Renee January 25, 2018 at 8:46 PM

Jodi, I can’t find these Nothing but Thieves songs. Do you have links? You can email me Robinhillwrites@gmail.com

Maryse January 25, 2018 at 8:53 PM

bev…

Wait For It.

Waiiiiiiit forrrrrrrrrrrr iiiiiiiiit.

Maryse January 25, 2018 at 8:54 PM

bev… give me a book slump confession (or maybe I’ll compile your slump-posts), and we’ll see what kind of help we can get for you… er… US. ;)

Maryse January 25, 2018 at 9:03 PM

P.S. My attention is being diverted to cooking and gardening when I’m in a book slump. And to glaring at my iPad.

Cheryl January 25, 2018 at 9:04 PM

FLT:
“Darian, come on.” Waiting for the Sun by Robin Hill.

I love Darian and Frankie. On the other hand, I am not looking forward to having to wait for more!! *hate cliffhangers*

Tessa January 25, 2018 at 9:04 PM

Better than me. When I get distracted, it’s usually a game.

Maryse January 25, 2018 at 9:05 PM

P.P.S. Also to wondering where Amy is and how she is.

Also to wondering if there’s a crazy, gasp-worthy, jaw-dropping twisty book out there that I don’t know about yet (or I forgot about).

Also hoping we can get through book-slumps together, either by finding awesome un-slumping books, or talking fun (or crazy) life stuff that’s happening instead.

Cheryl January 25, 2018 at 9:11 PM

“Wondering if there’s a crazy, gasp-worthy, jaw-dropping twisty book out there that I don’t know about yet (or I forgot about)”——–> I want one of those and of course Maryse would be the one to find it for us.

I get distracted with home improvement/decorating projects and my daughter’s activities.

Melinda January 26, 2018 at 12:21 AM

Well, I’m so lucky I’ve read 3 books in row and loved all of them.

1 robins book “Waiting for The Sun”. I can wait as good work needs time.
2. Midnight Blue l.j Shen. I loved the twisted broken rock star Alex
3. My Torin k Webster. Wow this is very good too. All totally different.

“ Anything essential is invisible to the eye” Midnight Blue

Jean and kooloo, how good is My Torin fantastic. Don’t think I have read anything from this author before. About an high functioning Austistic boy. But she has really captured the Autism spectrum, unbelievably realistic.

I Too would like to read Seek that’s next. Maaayyybbeee. Too many to choose from.

.

Jean January 26, 2018 at 12:24 AM

Loved My Torin Melinda! Can’t stop thinking about it! You should try Whispers and the Roars by same author. I love that her stories are unique and unforgettable!

Leslie M January 26, 2018 at 6:48 AM

Kooloo, jeesh….what kind of music so you listen to? I wanted to throw myself off bridge after listening to those songs!! Hee hee. They were beautiful, but depressing.

MichelleS January 27, 2018 at 9:22 AM

Bev – the Weaving Man is a book I couldn’t stop thinking about, shows & not tells in the best way, has so many likable characters it’s not even funny! It’s my “get outta dat slump” rec from me.

Jody January 29, 2018 at 12:30 AM

R. You should be able to find them on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube… maybe specific song titles? Lover, Please Stay; Tempt you; Graveyard Whistling. I hope you find it. Conor’s voice is amazing. So far I’ve seen them every time they’ve been near here! So much better live!

Also, if you like Pink, she did a project with Dallas Green (City and Colour) called You + Me. I haven’t listened to it all but they did a cover of Sade that’s pretty good.

R. Renee January 29, 2018 at 12:46 AM

Thanks Jody! And sorry I misspelled your name. I couldn’t find my post because it had an i.
