I immediately 1-clicked Tabula Rasa the other day! It sounds so good!
Jean I AM SO reading that!!!! 😀
So many of these look so good! Lumberjack, Here’s To Us, Tabula Rasa, Windfallen, Dear Heart, I Hate You…and I’m totally buying Sh*t My Dad Says! Lol! Here’s another that released today that I put on my tbr, it’s not a romance, it’s fiction, coming of age, mystery, thriller and the blurb gives me a Manson like feel: https://www.amazon.com/Girls-Novel-Emma-Cline/dp/081299860X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465934458&sr=8-1&keywords=The+girls
Oh TASHA!!! Good find!!!! I’m adding it, and it sounds like my kind of read!
Maryse did you find a book that fit amy.of the criteria?
Tabula Rasa and Weightless sound GREAT! And of course I one-clicked Here’s to Us and 1986 yesterday, but that’s not too bad…only four books clicked in two days. Wait…that’s only going by the mini-blurbs up there. I still have to look up the others and check out my ebook deals emails. *sigh* What was it Fabi was saying not long ago about feeling depressed over all the books we have which will most likely never get read? Yeah. That’s me right now.
Nothin’ that a nice, strong drink won’t dix though…
Um, FIX not dix. Lemon meringue martini, anyone? *holds up martini*
Hang on…
*sets out two drinks for the martini snatcher*
Okay, now we’re set. 😉
Ooh Southern Comfort looks good too!!
Thanks for posting about my book!!! You are awesome!!!
Fix… Dix… Potato, potahtoe…
Still on Jellicoe Road, I think my next will be In the Light. But there are several that look interesting.
Dear Heart, I Hate You. Here’s to Us, 1986, The Hook Up, The Sea of Tranquility, Southern Comfort, Lumberjack, Beg for It and Claim Me (so I can read the whole series).
Lumberjack and Bittersweet…..Im sticking to my lumbersexual kick.
Reading Grin & Beard It now and just love Penny Reid’s writing.
And for those who havent read it…..this lady above me wrote 5 Stages of Falling In Love which was one of the best books I read last year.
Freudian slip there Amy? 😉
Grey!!!! Have you NOT read Sea of Tranquility?? Pleeeease read it. Its beautiful.
bev, tomorrow’s Kitty Thomas book I think will fit my scary needs, so in the meantime I’m reading Jodi Picoult’s super-bargain book that sounds like it might be deep, and psych-thriller-y. Or maybe just… a mind-mess?
Sea of Tranquility is one of my all time favorites! Will never forget it! GREY, PLEASE READ IT!
LOL AMY!!!! Of course that would be your typo.
*snort* 😛
Time for the drink, my friend.
My pleasure Rachel!! 😀 You know I love your books!!!
OMG GREY!!!!
YOU MUST READ SoT!!!! STAT!
Did you guys see? I just pulled an Ela. 😉
Stick to the Jellicoe Road, Grey.
I’M SO PROUD MARYSE *dries eye* AND YES!!! SOT A MUST!
Maryse, you really should try The Last Hour of Gaan. Not sure how it fits on your list but it is really different & really good. If it works for you you will not notice the length cause you will be so absorbed in it. It’s dark but funny. No one is safe and some twists.
Ela why are you crying, lol.
I agree stay on the Jellicoe Road. 😉 And then Sea Of Tranquility! That book is one that gives me a sense of nostalgia, it’s one of the greats!
NOT LITERALLY CRYING JUST HAPPY MY CAPS RUBBED OFF ON MARYSE!
I’m thinking of doing the Anna Zaires dark trilogy now that ITS COMPLETE!
Oh man, SoT must be something for all of you to jump on me so quickly about it…
I kind of want a book that is gonna give me pretzel tummy though…
*cries in my martini* did you guys all get together and pretend you can’t hear me ranting like a crazy person over One True Loves? I’ve had pretzel tummy for a week! I’m reading erotica to fix it. EROTICA.
Grey…Im not sure what goves you ‘pretzel tummy’ but SOT will give you swoopy swoony butterfly tummy!!
R….I hope erotica is fixing your ongoing case of ‘pretzel tummy’…..if not try more martini’s and a swig if antacid *winks*
* goves!!! WTF…..gives
Grey, believe me, SoT! So worth it! I remember everything about it years later….even the very last line! And I definitely found the book through Maryse in my early stalker days here.
Love the ALL CAPS Maryse!
I’ve had 5 Stages for so long! I really gotta read it! And Last Hour of Gann…….BUT I’m still immersed in the Gentry Boys. Just flying through the series….up to book 6. Can’t remember the last time I’ve done that with a series!
Jean the prologue to 5 Stages GUTTED me… pretzel-ey goodness 🙂 Let’s just say I was the only person crying in my very non-soundproof tent last year over Labor Day weekend while everyone else was floating the river.
It depresses me sometimes too. I know I have good books in my tbr–just have to read them.
I wonder sometimes if I become too focused on finding a perfect book and so miss all the good books.
LOL R. Renee!!!! Is the EROTICA good at least?
Is it helping at all? And did you like the… “decision” in One True Loves?
ALL CAPSING IS FUN JEAN!!!!!!!!
*glances at R.Renee’s salty-tears martini*
Hrmmm… I do love my martinis briny. And… briny is briny, right?
*swipes martini*
*whispers to self*
All caps, hmmmm.
*shrug *
Worth a try I guess.
*Deep Breath*
SHERLOCK!!! STAT!!!!
Think of all the money I save on olives 😉
*snort* 😛
*wonders if Sherlock likes martinis*
If it’s a deciding factor…..
YES!! YES, HE DOES. NOT JUST likes HE LOVES THEM!!! THE WAY TRAVIS LOVES HIS PIGEON! !
ummmm
I think fibbing in all caps makes it worse somehow
Jean…how was the novella. Should I stick to skipping it?
LOL bev! You are cracking me up!
Omg Fabi, no you can’t skip it! It was so good and you need to know what really happened before you read Walk! Pretty please with a cherry on top!!!!
I just downloaded the first Gentry Boys (it was free) and know nothing about this series….so I’ll jump in after Ive got thru my beardy marathon.
I’ve switched my current read to “Live for This” and I love the writing style so far. 😀
Ok. That’s what I was afraid of. I’ll read it next since I’m finishing up a YA apocalyptic one with little to no angst. Good timing. 🙂
Grey!! Bev is going to be so mad at me for this, but you HAVE to read Sea of Tranquility!!! I read it YEARS ago (and was thrilled when I found this place and saw how many loved it here as well!), and I still get flutters in my tummy when I think about it.
*hides from Bev behind Maryse and R* <—— 'cause they have the martinis, of course. 😉
“I think fibbing in all caps makes it worse somehow” <——– Bahahahahahaha!!!!
Maryse…Live for This by Kathryn Biel?
Okay, if I am a good girl and finish my assignment tonight (it's a mother-effin' doozy :?) then I will FINALLY get to start 1986. I am SO craving a love triangle book, and I'm hoping this one takes care of that craving.
And her Every Wrong Reason was a great read also, not as gut-wrenching as After I Do, but still good.
Bev, if martini’s can be injected than yes I’d say Sherlock likes them. 😉
Ooooh, R. Renee that scares me about One True Loves and Maryse’s quotation of decision. Hmmm…
Still reading White-Hot Hack. Not as much time to read because my son graduates from high school next week and lots to do.
Um…Amy…One True Loves has a love triangle! *ducks* OK fine. I’ll stop. I think I’m beginning to understand what Bev feels like with Sherlock.
OMG Cheryl…is that a maybe? I need more victims! err…I mean sympathizers.
“I need more victims” Not helping, R. Renee 😉
yeah sorry…I slipped!
Ooooh…that’s right, R! But…but…I’m not really in the mood for THAT kind of love triangle. 😕 I want angst and for the h to have a secret thing on the side and for her life to implode because of it but then she’s okay in the end…maybe. And 1986 is sort of centered around the Chernobyl event so it should be interesting.
What I REALLY want is another Arsen or Thoughtless or Accidentally on Purpose…those books worked me over with their angst and emotion! 😀
That’s the one Amy!!!
At least it wasn’t a Freudian slip like SOMEONE had earlier. *scoffs* Can you believe that woman? Always has sex and the male anatomy on the brain. 😛
*sighs* I understand. It’s just…doesn’t everybody want their heart ripped out and stomped on repeatedly for fun anymore?
In other news, I went to my 80s themed Halloween party as an Chernobyl spring break-er (bright red skin, ear hanging off, tail etc.) and no one in this town got it. I vote for that book!
That one sounds GOOD, Maryse. Kinda like a lighter version of MBY for all of our heartbreak-shy friends. 😉
R, no one listens to me.
I feel you, Bev.
*snort*
And then they laugh.
“It’s just…doesn’t everybody want their heart ripped out and stomped on repeatedly for fun anymore?” <—– Yes!! Yes, yes, a hundred times YES!!!
But right now I want angst more than anything, ya know? TJR tends to make me cry and feel all emotional, and I'm craving the kind of book where you cover your face with a pillow and squeal "oh nooooooo!"
LOL, I hear you bev… Jellicoe Road, remember???
What a kickass costume Cheryl and congrats to your son, and you too… BIG congrats to you!
Oh Amy… an Arsen would be awesome… totally wickedly awesome. I want one of those too…
Know what I really want… a bully… yep, I said it, I want another one, LOL! Or pretzel tummy, mindf*ck… that works too… haha!
I’ve gotta go to bed LOL! night all!
No Bev, we snort.
I mean R. Renee not Cheryl for the costume, damn phone highlighted and I typed over myself. Geez Louise, talk about typos… I dont want you feeling neglected!
R. She makes me nervous cause I’m hard on my heroines. I’ve read positive reviews of this one, and the marriage one, but they mention they sometimes don’t understand the h’s reasonings.
R. let me get this straight, OTL “rips your heart out and stomps on it repeatedly” Somehow I think that is angst and emotion. The “triangle” may know about each other, but I’m thinking it ain’t pretty. The way the blurb reads the h life does implode!! *grabs martini from Amy and humpfs*
Snot on me. They snort snot on me.
Grey, stay steady on the road. Maybe it will lead to the light where you will feel the tranquility.
Hmm…IDK. The h’s position is a pretty tough one to be in. I don’t think anyone can justify her reason for anything, considering. That being said, I thought she was very true to how I would have felt, and the best part, I couldn’t pick an H any easier than she could. Somehow you don’t sway one way or the other. You kind of feel what she feels while she’s feeling it. Some of the best, most compelling writing I’ve encountered. Even for her.
And, the ending is satisfying. There’s a true HEA. I think the week long pretzel tummy is due to the intense subject matter. It makes you think.
Bev-bwahahahahahaha. *hands tissue to wipe snot off*
It’s intense. I even think it’s a tougher read than Forever, Interrupted, but probably on the same level if not a little less intense than Me Before You. If you’ve read that, you can totally do this.
Thank you, Cheryl.
*Accepts tissue.*
MBY is definitely not for me. Maybe this weekend.
Oh GAH!! Forever Interrupted and After I Do did me in. And I LOVED every second of it. Books. Always and only in books.
One True Loves was angsty for sure, but it didn’t hurt me as badly for some reason.
Okay back to my book. He’s paralyzed and his ex broke his heart (I don’t know who she is yet). And the main character and her friend (different part of the story for now – I’m expecting it all to merge) are kind of indulgent, self-centered b**ches. A lot.
I don’t understand. I’m obsessed with TJR (obviously) like to a stalk-ery degree. I LOVED those books, but OTL KILLED me. Who hurt you Maryse? Who did this to you?
LOL!!!!!!!!!
R. Renee, that just had me choke-laughing. Tee hee!!
You delight me!
All this talk of angst and no one mentions the new Althea Romig? That looks all weird messed up. No squees over the new Shay Savage??
WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?
Okay, The Hook Up looks like my type. 😀 I love football boys. However, Written on my Heart has super potential. *grins*
Oh, Grey what bully books have you read? You gotta know by now that’s my favorite type.
I’m just stopping by with a public service announcement for the Texas crew.
Sherrilyn Kenyon will be in Dallas on June 20th.
https://stores.barnesandnoble.com/event/9780061776999-0
I will be there!
Thank you Anna! I wish I could go SO badly!!!
Hoping Allegiance of Honour is going to be one of the better ones from the psy-changeling series. Some books in that series are are amongst my top favs, but some of the more recent ones have been pretty ho-hum. This is #15, and supposedly will bring everything together with a catch-up on our fav characters, and heralding a new story arc. Sounds promising …… but it’s also very expensive 🙁
If anybody jumps in and reads AoH, let’s know what you think. I’m keen to hear others’ thoughts and read some honest reviews (if there is such a thing!!) before I dive in.
OMG TESSA LOOK AT THE NEW ALEATHA ROMIG AND WHAT’S THAT OVER THERE???? OH A NEW SHAY SAVAGE???!!!!!!!! AHOY!
Right? All that drama and nothing! I’m reading Written on my Heart hoping for angst. 🙂
coming out of the blue, looking for buddy readers
I want to try another psych thriller – just because I haven’t really read many (any?) in this genre.
I was looking at Twisted by Andrew E. Kaufman and I’m definitely intrigued. I have a few I have to read “next”, but maybe week after next? or weekend after next? Anyone interested in BR? It seems to be on sale.
*runs to look up Twisted*
Tessa, by Cole Gibsen? Any good???
I started Blood Mate by Kitty Thomas cause it looks dark and it’s PNR 🙂 win win!
Fabi! Twisted says HORROR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG! Thank you so much for including SAVING A LEGEND! I swear to goodness I didnt think I was a blip on your radar! This has officially made my YEAR! <3 <3 <3
Ela…I’ve had Blood Mate sitting in my library for a while now but I wasn’t sure which direction it was going to go, so I never started it. It’s about vampires but it’s also by Kitty Thomas so…yeah, anything’s possible.
Keep us updated ’cause I may just have to start that one in the next week.
YOU’RE twisted, Maryse.
😛
Sorry, I’m feelin’ mighty ornery today. *snort*
Ela maybe? I’m on chapter two or three. Something like that. Blood Mate looks super good. I do like her books though I’ve only read two. Some of them honestly remind me of the historical I read as a teenager. lol
What’s going on?
Anything to talk about?
*waves to everyone*….just popping in to say hello!
Read several books and determined that I am in a slump. Not bad…just not page turning, can’t put down good. Looking for a five star….
There seem to be a lot of us looking for that next blow-out five star read.
No YOU’RE twisted!
*snort* 😛
My update: I’m still enjoying “Live For This”
It’s not perfect but it’s good and it’s keeping my attention. 🙂
Holler at me when you find one or two…
I’ve maxed out on the Dartmoor guys. (I had some catching up to do). So I got my good ole biker fix…I think I want something with a little angst…you know like a misunderstanding…old flame…a sobbing breakdown…and then an alpha who goes all caveman….I want a Remy, a Travis, a Colton, a Christian…a new KA or Zapata…
Right now I’d love a new Rainbow Rowell, Robert Galbraith, or Lucy Parker.
Im with you DG….all of those sound perfect to me 😉
ditto!
I finished Carry On and I 5 star loved it, the ending was bittersweet for me and I’ll miss being in their world. Now onto Fangirl and then Disclaimer. I only have them for 15 days so I’m making a personal goal for myself to read a book within 4-5 days. It’s no easy feat around here so fingers crossed! I saw After I Do mentioned up there and it made me think to mention What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. If you loved After I Do you will love WAF! I still think of this book all the time, it’s one of my top faves for sure!
Tasha, wasn’t Carry On wonderful? I loved how the spells worked.
Hey, has anyone here read the Chaos Walking books by Patrick Ness?
Bev, it was amazing! The spells were so clever and witty. And her writing style just sucks you in. I was intrigued at first with the similarity to Harry Potter but it became its own really early in. When Baz came in is when it really sucked me in though. I loved him from the start and he and Simon’s quarrels were amusing and thrilling. But I loved Penny and Agatha too! She really gives you such depth with each character that you feel you know them. And the romance was one of the most sigh inducing slow builds I’ve read in a while! The story as a whole was just perfect and had everything I love in a good book! 🙂
Tasha, you’re speaking directly to me (and maybe a few other people). Thank you! Adding What Alice Forgot to my TBR right now. What a blurb! Yay!
Love her writing style. I end up wanting to highlight everything. Every time I read one of her books I’m randomly reading pages days later.
Yes, like a little wink to HP, but then it’s own unique story.
Baz!! Adore him.
I’ve been having lots of luck with characters named Simon. This book, WiR, & Simon vs. The Homosapiens Agenda.
BEV!! Yes I loved Chaos Walking….the first line in book one, The Knife of Never Letting Go, is the best line ever……
….The first thing you find out when yer dog learns to talk is that dogs don’t got nothing much to say. about anything.
Loved that YA dystopian series…quite terrifying for a YA fiction.
*looks up What Alice Forgot*
BAM!! Already have it. 😀
Lol. It sounds really good, and not too $$. May have to one click.
FLT
“All of Allana Harrison’s stories started with a party.” ~ 1986 by Morgan Parker
I’ve been at 2% for two days but it still counts as reading it, right? 😉
My nail polish-lovin’ friends…look at these!!!
https://www.thepolishaholic.com/2016/05/opi-summer-2016-retro-summer-collection.html?m=1
I know I probably already have most of those colors (or shades very close to them) but I still want those because they look so pretty together!! 😀
LOVE them! Especially the two pinks. And the orange. SO PRETTY!!!!
Amy they make me miss summer. Gorgeous gelato colours. Think I’ll go get a pedi even if my pretty toes will only be shoved back into boots.
OK! This is the second book I read by Kitty Thomas and have to say I really didn’t care for it! Blood Mate had such great potential but it was just meh and that ending WTF was THAT???
So yeah I may not be a good Kitty Thomas recommender cause we seem not to get along. Or maybe it’s just those 2 books? But everyone seemed to love Mafia Captive but me? Nope.
Anna Zaires here I come…Capture Me is calling my name!
I ended up really liking Writen on my Heart. It felt real, and the angst was real, not contrived. I just wish it was longer just so I can stay in their world. My only complaint was the romance was too quick. However, even that, the L word wasn’t used, just I like you, let’s see where this goes. That’s where the extra story could have been. I also just wanted more resistance at the beginning. The angst, emotion, and discovery were there.
Ela, that’s too bad about Blood Mate. It really did sound good. Oh well. Good luck with Anna Zaires!
That Opi collection is cute, but the only colors I can wear I own already! 😛 I was looking through my polishes and I need a mint green. I need to match my bathing suit. 🙂
FLT:
‘I was never one to put much stock in fairy tales, instant love, or happy endings.’
Love in Fantasy by Elle Christensen
FLT
“The two men in front of me embody danger.”
Capture Me (Capture Me #1) by Anna Zaires
That seems an appropriate beginning to a dark read. ☺
Already DNF Love in Fantasy. The writing is too childish for me. Now to find something else.
I really need to learn how to DNF! I would save so much time if I could!
I DNF. It’s SO much fun to read when you love a book and are so into the story. So I don’t like reading and reading and reading and not enjoying it. Every once in awhile I stick one out to the end that I’m not connecting to, and still… I end up disappointed.
So I DNF.
FLT:
“Griffin?” My mother sat down across from me at the big farmhouse table as I chewed the last bite of her home-smoked applewood bacon.” Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen.
Ok, I know that’s two lines. 🙂
Amy, I like those colors, especially the orange. Funny I don’t mind the pastel colors for my fingernails, but hate the look on my toes; usually go for something darker on them.
Alright. Book question. What mafia or biker book has a dark hero (emotionally) and blew your mind. I know I’m in the mood for gang type dark, but I’m drawing a blank.
Tessa… have you read Ricochet? That is definitely a dark book but so good.
I never DNF. It’s like against my religion or something, and yes I have suffered through some bad books because of it.
FLT: At some point, right before my memory clicked off, the nightmare fairy must have paid the world a visit. (Tabula Rasa by Kitty Thomas)
My first book by Kitty Thomas even though I have others. Hope I don’t have the same problem Ela did.
Cheryl! I want to read that! Keep me updated!
FLT: ” I looked like a vampire.” Six by K.I. Lynn
This book is really good so far!! Tessa you might like this one since we like similar books… the hero is pretty dark emotionally since he is kind of a psychopath…but I’m really enjoying it!!
I DNF all the time too…I don’t want to waste my precious reading time with something that I’m not enjoying!!!
FLT “I sat on a chair in Dr. Morrison’s office.”
Full Tilt by Emma Scott. I’m totally and utterly wrecked right now.
“Totally and utterly wrecked”…..look out, here comes Amy! Love Emma Scott! Gotta check it out!
I think she may have outdone herself this time. I just posted my review on GR. I’m tough on her because of my love for RUSH. I’ve given a couple of her books 4 stars when they’ve stayed with me enough to make me think they should have been 5. But this one…wow.
Hey!!!! Wait. NO.
Where’s MINE????
EMMA. SCOTT. Where. IS. MINE?
*snort*
Especially now after R. Renee went crazy for it…
*sigh*
I love crazy-for-it books.
“Con-man, Remember when I started calling you that?” Cross by Cora Brent
I bit the bullet and jumped into the novella so I won’t feel like I missed out when I read Walk.
Okay my First Line Thursday:
“You would think waking up in a pool of your own vomit would mean you’ve hit rock bottom.”
Live For This by Kathryn R. Biel
Anyone read Borden by RJ Lewis? I think that’ll be my next read. A bad review convinced me of it. To quote:
Ok… i don’t get it… I might be the only one… but… “he’s such an A-hole, but its okay cuz he’s hot” “he has ppl murdered but its ok cuz he’s hot” “he might even murder me but its okay cuz he’s hot” ?
What does it say about me that I’m like, that sounds perfect! lol
OMG Maryse. LOVED.
Lol Tessa! It’s so true that sometimes it’s the bad reviews that catch our attention.
Ooh and Maryse, it needs to go on your “what to read after Me Before You” list.
If it makes you feel better the formatted arc isn’t ready yet. I’m sure she’s saving the best for you!
FLT:
‘Funny what happens when you know you’re going to your own death.’
Borden by RJ Lewis
I haven’t had time to read it yet, beyond the first page, but I hope it’s what I’m after.
Oooh that’s a good one Maryse
LOL!! No she’s a party girl… but things change. 😉 Review coming.
Either that or it was a great party. 😛
Tessa, that your crazy. But just look in the mirror and say it’s OK cause I’m hot.
“Totally and utterly wrecked” and my name in the same sentence…alright, WHAT is this book you’re speaking of???
As if I have time to read it. *pouts* Yes, I am feeling sorry for myself right now. 😉
Full Tilt Amy!! Just do it!
Cheryl, I’ve only seen positive about that book. I’m curious as to what you think.
OK, FLT. It’s a complicated one….. 😉
The book I’m reading has an unusual opening and I’m not quite sure which bit is ‘the first line’. I’m currently re-reading ‘The Twelve’ by Justin Cronin, second book in The Passage trilogy. I can’t wait to get to the new one, City of Mirrors, but it’s a while since I read the first 2 so I’m re-reading to get the full experience for CoM. The buzz about CoM is it’s good! Yay!
So – first line. This bit precedes the story and is from a ‘history’ of the times the book is set in. The history is being explored/presented at a conference, about 900 years after the book is set, presumably at a time when the world has somewhat recovered from the apocalyptic events of The Passage.
‘1. For it came to pass that the world had grown wicked, and men had taken war into their hearts, and committed great defilements upon every living thing, so that the world was as a dream of death.’
Then, here is the first line of the story proper:
‘Later, after supper and evening prayer, and bath if it was bath night, and then the final negotiations to conclude the day (Please Sister, can’t we stay up longer? Please, one more story?) , when the children had fallen asleep at last and everything was very still, Amy watched them.’
These are FABULOUS BOOKS!!! They are long and intense but SO WORTH IT!! I’m re-floving them. Hey, new word LOL.
Same first line FRIDAY (!) as Cheryl:
‘Griffin?’ Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen.
At 40% and its good….another hot lumbersexual farmer type with very large…’farm equipment’ but Im not feeling the chemistry yet.
Think Im in need of a jerk-wad ass-hat type of anti hero…..Im getting desensitized to alphas and insta-lust. yikes!
Maryse and Co. who loved that Retro Summer collection…! I picked it up today at a Sally’s near my school, and they are SOOOOO pretty! I can’t wait to use them. 😀
Tessa…check out OPI’s That’s Hula-rious from their Hawaii collection. I wore it just last week, and I got so many compliments. It might not be a perfect mint green but it is still beautiful.
Cheryl…I don’t know about you, but I don’t match my piggies and my fingers. I will use two shades of the same color (a dark and a light) and put one on my fingernails and the other on my toenails. Or I use complementary colors…one time I used a shimmery forest green on my toes and then a light pinkish-nude color on my fingernails, and it worked! At least that’s what people told me. 😉
Great, R…that’s just great. Full Tilt isn’t out until 6/28. Get my hopes up like that, why don’t ya. And that blurb…oh MAN, I am SO reading it when it comes out.
It’s part one of a duet, but did you see the hashtags? #nocliffhanger #nocancer #tearjerker…holy moly, has she been reading our comments here?!?
Hmmm… who’s new that you really don’t know yet? I bet she’s stalking!
I can’t wait until it comes out. I want the paperback. The cover is so pretty and PERFECT for the book. Oh and I don’t think I’ve ever read a blurb that fit its book so perfectly. Especially that last part!
R. Renee- Wow, Emma Scott and Suanne Laquer are the authors!!!! That’s major angst there. Those are some interesting hashtags they have. So us around here. Makes sense since Suanne does comment on posts here. #nocancer, but the blurb says he is running out of time, hmmm….cue ugly cry. Putting it on my tbr, although not sure I’ll start it until know when book 2 will be released. Tired of reading book one and then having to re-read it by the time book two is released.
Amy, that’s usually what I do too. Lighter fingernail polish than toenail.
Jean, I’m not that far into Bittersweet yet, but so far I like it.
Huh…I wonder how often THAT happens with authors peeking in here or posting under different names?? Well, if authors are stalking book blogs to see what readers want (or DON’T want) then they are smart. 😉
*snort* I actually had to remind myself that there are other book blogs out there with readers who have opinions which matter just as much as ours do. Self-important much, am I? 😛
Those of you who regularly check out other book blogs (this is my “home” and I’m a homebody, so I don’t get out to other blogs *giggle*), do they have the interactions with each other in the comments like we do? ‘Cause I like to think we’ve got somethin’ special going on here. *puffs up chest*
I don’t think you’d need to re-read it for book two Cheryl. This one doesn’t end in a CH.
Suanne is my next buddy book 🙂
Honestly I never think about matching the polish.
Tessa, this is nice.
https://www.livelovepolish.com/products/powder-perfect-legend-says
They probably just stalk and don’t post. They’re probably watching us right now…
*rubs hands over goosebumps on arms*
Amy somewhat. One blog I visit has an active fb group I believe, though I’m not on fb. From what I can tell there is a lot of conversation around books and topics and they sometimes have buddy reads and vote on a book for the bloggers to read.
Two others I read have a lot of comments and some very active conversations. Some that could some times become contentious. On these two some of the conversation can revolve more on heroine agency, representing diversity, feminism, ect. I will read the comments but not part of it so do not have a feel as to the dynamics of the groups.
For a long time I didn’t really read comments.
I’m curious if some of the visitors to here even read our comments to each other?
Jean, does your friend read the comments?
I still have not read them, yet.
Too many books.
Oh, I Dnf. Maybe too much.
Yeah I read some other blogs too, but I like this one. Feels like people make fairly honest comments here, with a minimum of proselytising (except in a good, booky way IYKWIM). Crazy comments give me lots of laughs too. And I’ve picked up so many great recs!
Also, some other blogs don’t come up clearly on my screen, with unusual fonts and colour schemes, and too much happening (visually) on my screen, also ads etc sometimes. I like the visual clarity/ simplicity of this site. Also Maryse you do a great job of moderating 🙂
LOL Jan130… I don’t need to moderate ’cause you guys are just so awesome and fun, and connected, and even when we don’t have the same love for a book, we respect each other and then we peanut each other and steal martinis and snuggle in our blankie forts.
This is the easiest, funnest book-club ever!
Acronym translation, Jan.
Fabi…..I got to say it. I got to. I’ll say it fast.
*Deep Breath*
JAN
IFIBALLTHETIME! !!!!!
“IFIBALLTHETIME! !!!!!”
…..??
Er… I wanna to ball the time. That’s my favorite! 😛
Exactly, Maryse! It is so FUN around here. 😀
I read Bev’s comment, and there’s no way I could hang out where it gets contentious like that. How sad. 🙁 This is my safe book place, LOL!
Jan…I’ve been coming here a while, and the ladies here are respectful, even when we disagree. Like Maryse said, we just nail each other with peanuts when we don’t like the same books. 😛 And I love how we have so many who have been around for a while (my ladies!!), and then we get newbies who jump in on the fun with us so we can get to know them, too!
*squints* If…I…ball…the…time…
*scratches head*
OHHH…you FIB all the time. *snort*
One blog in particular that the more contentious conversations would pop up seems to have backed off of them a bit. Honestly, it is a bit of a shame. Some of the topics and comments were very interesting, but then others couldn’t agree to disagree. Or just realize that sometimes there isn’t a “right” answer just different ones. And the it would devolve from there.
ROFL
Amy and Bev, those look perfect. When I was in FL my niece bought me the cutest bathing suit. Well, technically she was already there and asked my size. We’re more sisters than niece and aunt (she’s six and a half years younger than me and she usually lived close) so she knew exactly what I’d love. 😀 Now I just want nail polish to match.
If You Know What I Mean – IYKWIM
That’s too bad Bev. Honestly, that’s why I finally talked on this one. The disagreements here are never anger, just more of a shrug and agree to disagree.
When you said mint green suite I pictured something slightly retro. I love that color.
We should totally have a fight and see what happens, lol.
Oooh. Uh… I know! Falling High is way better than Elanor and Park! *throws peanut*
Alright, now them are fighting words, right?
FLT: “Catherine braces herself, but there is nothing left to come up.” – Disclaimer: A Novel by Renee Knight. I’m very early in, only 4%, so good so far. I started getting distracted earlier and read a sample before I dug in, called Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Mathew Quick. And I really liked the sample, has anyone read it? I made a commitment to Disclaimer so I’m sticking with it but I may jump into this one next. Also, I was too tired to really read tonight so I watched the first episode of Sherlock! Yay! Lol, I really liked it so I’ll continue watching.
Except, you know, it’s Fallen Crest High, not Falling High. *face palm*
The book with the fingernails.
*flicks Tessa ‘ s hair*
Sherlock!!!!
Tasha…..You are turning into my favorite commenter.
*sticks out tongue at Amy*
*So far so good* I stared at that sentence too for a while wondering what was weird about those words. Drrr…that’s how tired I am. Also, funny story, someone who coached my daughter’s soccer team a cpl years ago asked me tonight if she was doing better (he had thought there was something wrong with her kidneys and that’s why she could no longer finish the season). I reminded him that no, she had mono and an enlarged sternum and they were worried it could rupture if she got hit or something and all was well. Well something didn’t sound right to me then either so I said yea I think it was the sternum. An hour later at home replaying the convo in my head I shout SPLEEN it was the dang spleen! Sternum, really. Lol I still feel like a complete idiot
Tasha… an exploding sternum sounds pretty scary, too! I mean… it could happen, right?
Hehehe Blame exhaustion.
Bev, your books silly with hating red heads! *bares nails*
DUDE! Tessa can’t even start a fight right, LOL!!! *snuggles up to Tessa* You know I luffs ya though. And your FCH book hubby. 😛
*eyes Bev*
*throws In the Fields peanut at her tongue*
I do suck at the whole fighting thing. *snuggles and sighs* Luffs ya too, though My Mason!
IFIBALLTHETIME??? Really, Bev? Come on, don’t disillusion us.
(Yeah, OK, maybe my acronym was a bit too long……)
*coughs up In the Fields peanut*
*shows the picture of Bates Motel peanut I ate.*
Lol. I love that my book is better than yours are fighting words to Tessa.
I use any means necessary Jan.
You guys are too funny! Yes, this is the ONLY blog I go to! And my stalker friend does reads the comments.
Let’s face it, the only time I get really mad is someone being mean to someone else.
Alright, Romeo e else start the faux fight! 😛
Romeo? How did someone turn into Romeo? I was right, my phone does think it’s Shakespeare!
Lol Bev. You’ve been promoting that show hard for a while now and I just remembered with your last mention and it was the perfect night for it. 🙂 Now I just finished about a quarter of a bag of Easter candy so I’m satisfied and ready for bed! Have a good night ladies!
BAM. New acronym, Bev. By. Any. Means …… I see……. 😉
And Romeo e else …….????? LOL Tessa. Gotta love that autocorrect. Or was that really another Freudian slip? Which Romeo are you thinking? The young Leonardo DiCaprio, perhaps? Such a noice story. If only everybody didn’t die….. Now that’s your classic tearjerker.
I think this bolg IS special……which is why I hang out here.
Besides having the awesomeness of Maryse to bring us all the goss, new releases and updates….everyone here is a book buddy. There are no trolls or bullies (and believe me they ARE out there….I was completely bullied on an inter-country adoption ‘support group’ once).
What I get out of this blog is friendship, support, laughter (lots and lots of this) and book sisterhood. And even when Im being snipey and on a soap box about surprise CHs or mysogynism thinly veiled as alpha behaviour in our Hs….no one judges.
And Amy…I hope authors DO stalk us and take onboard our book loves and gripes…..it will mean more books we LOVE.
Plus.. we’re awesome!
We ARE awesome, Lisa. And we have amazing book taste!
*smiles agreement at Lisa’s passionate affirmation*
Nicely said, Lisa.
😀 Exactly Lisa! Goodreads has a bunch of bullies that sometimes need a smack-down. *sighs* Here, we can say nope for me and everyone’s good with it.
Oh, and I confess, I don’t like Romeo and Juliette. It’s too ridiculous for me, even when I had to read it as a freshman in HS. Then again, I was the only one in the class who didn’t like it. *shrugs* Proof I’m weird. Though the Leonardo one was pretty to look at at some points.
My phone, however, is dumb. It replaces to with tho or thou depending on it’s mood. Time is thine. With is 83th. Funniest is know is knowest. Each time that happens, I just stare in utter puzzlement.
Sounds like your phone is set to seventeenth century English LOL.
Tessa’s autocorrect has been possessed by Willie Shakespeare’s ghost!!!!
I went to bed early last night and missed all the fun!
But I’m laughing over it this morning, so it’s all good.
*waves at Jean’s friend in the back corner*
Amy, thank you for deciphering Bev’s code. I stopped and stared for the longest time before shrugging and reading on in the hopes someone else was smarter than me. 🙂
Bev, shame on you. 😉
Tessa, your autocorrect – omg – that’s the funniest one I’ve heard of.
This is the only blog I’m on. Years ago I was in a financial one at msn but msn did away with the boards so that was that.
I’ve peeked at some of Bev’s links before, but I can’t make heads or tails out of those websites. I never had a problem with Maryse’s website. From the first time I ran across it years ago looking for my next PNR book, the lists are easy to find and access. I bookmarked it and the rest is history.
I honestly don’t think I’d stay where conversations were regularly contentious. Differing opinions are fine. So is healthy debate. But I’ve seen convos on GR where people act like a dog with a bone, snarling and snapping at anyone who disagrees with them. I generally shake my head and move on because if I get involved I end up with a turny twisty tummy.
Love you gals!!!
Love you too, Fabi!!!
I love our whole, hilarious, snuggly group!
Yes, yes, yes….Ricochet! I was trying to think of something for Tessa! You are so smart Maryse! That book is perfect!
YAY Jean!!! And thank YOU for recommended it to me. And thanks to the author for that sexy cover. SO easy to visualize him. 😉
Oooh. I keep looking at Ricochet too. I’ll try that next.
Borden just wasn’t right. Nothing against it, but it starts 28th some other heroine and all sweet. So, I’ll try later when I want sweet. Last night I started Sordid promise. I had to stop because it was 1am. I really didn’t want to though. Reading it, my stomach is in knots.
He is HOT! Do it Tessa! I think you will love it!
Cheryl, I just realized what you said. Full Tilt is all Emma Scott. Suanne edited.
Oooh, Ricochet…that one is pretty dark…and a bit scary.
I love that book Fabi. What does that say about me? Lol!
Sitting here at work, watching the clock, praying time goes quickly! Looking forward to a beautiful weekend out on the boat! Low 80’s predicted….perfect!
Now, now Jean…this is a judge free zone. You won’t hear a peep out of us.
Something about not judging others lest ye be judged… 😉
That’s why I love you guys!
Omg, I just hit a mindf#*key part of Tabula Rasa…..what a twist! Only at 20%, but now I’m seriously intrigued by this story! I’ll keep you guys updated!
Love this blog and it’s the only one I read. No desire or time to go anywhere else!
Thanks R. Looking closer at the book on Amazon I see that now. Is the 2nd book going to be about different MC’s?
Cheryl, my guess would be yes and no. Did I just make it worse? LOL
