HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY!! Today’s list has some sure-hits (I’ll post my mini-blurb-jolt highlights a little further below), BUT!! BREAKING NEWS ALERT: And guess what else?? YOU may have an Amazon gift card balance!! I did! Log into your Amazon account and check your gift card balance because:
Slammed: A Novel. One of the books I went crazy for back in 2012! Right around “that” period…
Rebecca: “If you are an Amazon kindle ebook reader (and were in 2010-2012) – the second anti-trust lawsuit settlements were placed in Amazon accounts this morning! Check your gift card balance🙂 This one is different than the last one because your credit isn’t solely allowed on more books- you can use it for anything on Amazon! Very nice surprise this morning and took me forever to figure out the random balance”
Maryse: HOLY MOLY!!!!!! That is a nice gift card!!!!!
Melissa: Have you checked your email for a possible Amazon account credit from Apple regarding the settlement of their Ebook antitrust lawsuit? I got one and it was very exciting! Can we say book buying binge? Lol!
Fabi: haven’t received an email…
MichelleS: Go to “my account” and “gift card balance” – and you can use it on anything at the site, not just books. Maybe I’ll get that Ninja blended I have been wanting. I didn’t get an email either, Fabi. I wonder if you have to use it by a certain date? I better use it up now. Do you have to “claim” it? Or is it automatic? I’m temped to buy one thing so I don’t lose it.
Maryse: My email ended up in the “promotions” tab in my gmail… so I missed it at first, too.
Kirstyn: I received one from Amazon and from Apple. If you’ve bought iBooks check your iTunes account as well. $75 from Amazon and $230 from Apple. I’m set on books for awhile.
Ela: Looks like I might be getting something on Nook, just got an email and that’s about the time I only used Barnes & Noble. Nook won’t show for another couple of days according to the email….. I don’t know about Amazon but on Nook it expires June 24, 2017 so a whole year later. Also, Nook balance will show up in the next few days unlike Amazon. I wonder what I can get at Barnes & Noble besides books and magazines?
Rebecca: I thought it was a mistake and wished I hadn’t called my hubby about it Mine was very nice indeed, too!
Maryse: It’s so nice that we’re readers!!!
AND! Full Tilt by Emma Scott – June 28th 2016 <— WE’VE GOT AWESOME FEED BACK ON THIS ONE ALREADY!
R. Renee: Full Tilt by Emma Scott. I’m totally and utterly wrecked right now. I think she may have outdone herself this time. I just posted my review on GR. I’m tough on her because of my love for RUSH. I’ve given a couple of her books 4 stars when they’ve stayed with me enough to make me think they should have been 5. But this one…wow.
OMG Maryse. LOVED. Ooh and Maryse, it needs to go on your “what to read after Me Before You” list. I can’t wait until it comes out. I want the paperback. The cover is so pretty and PERFECT for the book. Oh and I don’t think I’ve ever read a blurb that fit its book so perfectly. Especially that last part!

I received one from Amazon and from Apple. If you’ve bought iBooks check your iTunes account as well. $75 from Amazon and $230 from Apple. I’m set on books for awhile.
But, but, but… the company I was buying books from at that time was bought by Kobo! Last time, I got a weird postcard in the mail. Kobo is showing nothing. lol Google isn’t part of it? Bummer. I bought from them too.

Thank you Lee C! I’m all over Daisy & Marcus’ story. KA is my favorite. I’m all over it.
Second, has anyone read Anarchy Found by JA Huss? I’m about 32% through and I really can’t get into it. I’m about to put it away. I started it Friday and it’s doing nothing for me.

I see it’s not until Jan 2017 🙁 That’s a long time to wait! Very impatient when it comes to my KA books (except the fantasy ones).
Fabi

Stephanie, I read Anarchy Found a while back. If you’re not feeling it at 32%, I don’t know…It’s gets romantic/erotic in the 2nd 3rd of the book and it didn’t fit the story for me.
The first part was a 5 star for me. The middle was a 2 star because it was totally unrelated to the rest of the plot. The last third was a 3 star for me.

I didn’t realize how many books I buy and read until I saw my credit. Over $600.00. That will keep me reading for a while. Very excited.

Whoah Maryse. That’s quite a list today! Wow! Daisy and Marcus’ story? CLLLIIIIIICCCKKK! What, not till January?? Sigh…. Then in March KA’s new BDSM book comes out too, The Deep End. Already pre-ordered that one. Not normally a BDSM fan, but I’ll have to try it as it’s KA. No brainer.
$0.00 in my gift card account….. 🙁 Maybe the refunds don’t extend to Australians. Or maybe I’m just not one of the lucky ones.

I think since it’s an American Lawsuit, it might affect US only. I get to wait for a check. :/

Yeh, maybe you’re right, Tessa. In the past I have bought some kindle books from US Amazon, but anyway, maybe not in the time frame the lawsuit applies to. Oh well. Them’s the breaks.
Some of you guys have been credited crazy amounts. What the actual heck?? I wouldn’t know what to do with such a massive credit! Maybe buy some of those very expensive ‘big name’ books I normally just wait to see whether the library will stock. And if the library doesn’t get them in, unless it’s a super-fave author, I just go without, or wait till I can get a secondhand one from AbeBooks. I resent paying stupid amounts just cause it’s a big-name author, especially when wonderful books such as KA’s are available at such reasonable prices.
Whoops. *gets down from soapbox*

Hehehe If I had 600 like Susan, I’d buy their latest kindle. That looks so cool with the charging cover. Susan, congrats and have fun!
No gift card for me 🙁 I feel miffed – especially since there’s so many awesome looking reads in this list! A new Cara McKenna, AND a new BT Urruela…. and more rock stars than you can shake a stick at. Great list – and thank you for the mention 🙂
PS – in a quirky coincidence (coz I *know* you like those!) A picture of BT Urruela was the inspiration for my M/M BREATHING AGAIN. He is a hell of a guy 🙂

Jan I have a zero gift card balance and I buy all my kindle books on US Amazon rather than AU Amazon…..(there’s more choice and even with the exchange rate theyre usually cheaper). But the lawsuit obviously doesnt apply to us.
Fun fact……the mindfulness colouring book craze has (according to the media) saved the print book industry….cos you cant colour on a Kindle.

I didn’t get anything either from Amazon or Nook. Although I don’t think I started E books until 2012 and I used Nook first. Anyway, I’m currently 22% into Disclaimer by Renee Knight and really loving it so far! It’s a psych thriller and I’m dying to know this secret she’s been keeping and I’m just getting to this really nail biting part! Yikes! 😀 So what’s everyone else reading??
bev

Me neither. Nor on nook though got tiny bit on it last time. Got a Kindle end of 2012
Reading Hardball. My first book by her though think I have others buried in tbr. I’m enjoying it yet I’m having a hard time gelling with her rhythm.
*sigh*
Does that make sense?
But I’m only 8% so just probably need to sync. But right now is bedtime.
Good night ladies.

Bev I loved Songs of Perdition by her. It’s like 3 books put together, so about 600 pages, but I didn’t even feel the length. I was hooked by the first page. I heard Hardball is harder to get into, so I skipped it.

Stephanie and Fabi – I read Anarchy Found by JA Huss in December, and I was so disappointed. I had read a few JA Huss books in October/November (Three Two One, 18 and Sexy) and I was very excited about the release of Anarchy Found. Never have I been so disappointed. Sorry to say Stephanie that in my opinion it doesn’t get better for the rest of the book 🙁

Jellicoe Road was ok… I liked it ok and I can definitely see why it it a fave around here. There was no biting of my lip bad, bev LOL!
I didn’t get anything on the kindle deal either… dammit… is it the kindle or nook itself or the program, because I think I was using off brands tablets then??
Tomorrow is payday, then I’m buying myself the new Aleatha Romig from last week. I want it so bad but had a HUGE bill come in that I wasn’t expecting so I had to wait LOL!

Got an email from B&N says it will take a few days. Probably not alot, any is good, but was on a very tight budget then and mostly bought free or 99 cent books. If I remember correctly last time it had to do with traditionally published books.

Susan just made me feel so much better about my $321! Lol!! I seriously thought my husband accidentally one clicked gift cards and I was freaking out at first. 🙂 It’s taking all my self-control not to immediately one-click every single book I want. Heehee

R. I believe those are the ones in tbr. The Beg, Submit, etc? And they are added as a bonus to Hardball. I was wondering why it said it would take 8 hours to read.
There was one scene that made me lol. She was texting hero & auto correct happened. Hers is a lot like Amy’s.
R. Renee

Bev, Songs of Perdition is older, no the same story. They’re called Kick, Use, and Break. The whole book is called Forbidden. I don’t know where “Songs of Perdition” came from now. I’m confused! Maybe that was the series name, and then when she sold it as one, she named it Forbidden.

Pia & Fabi, thanks for your thoughts. I finally just put it away (so to speak). I’ve enjoyed several of the JA Huss books I’ve read. 321, the Rook & Ronin series, the assassin series (don’t know if that’s the official series title) and they were great. This one just didn’t do it. Going to start on Ramsay by Mia Sheridan.
I was just starting out on my Kindle in 2012 so that’s probably why my credit was so small. I’d be curious to see what it would be now. The last 2 years I’ve bought over 700 books.
My Amazon credit was $6.00, I will take it, but compared to Susan $600…….wow just wow, how awesome for her. Has anyone read any of Lani Lynn Vale MC books, I was wondering if they are any good?
R. Renee

LisaKay I haven’t read any Lani Lynn Vale but would also love to hear from anyone who has. Always looking for that awesome new MC series. Sadly, there are many, many mediocre MC books out there. But some great ones, too, and don’t you just love it when you find them. I recently fell in love with Lauren Gilley’s Lean Dogs, and of course there’s Kristen Ashley’s MC books, and Jo Wylde too. Reaper’s Fire coming out in August. Can’t wait.
We were chatting about Mariana Zapata on the other thread and I have to say altho’ I loved her Kulti and Wall of Winnipeg, I just couldn’t get into her MC book Under Locke.
A zero balance???? With close to 2500 books in my library??? That’s it…time to kick a$$ and take names. Where’s my Jager and shot glass…

LisaKay and Jan if you’re looking for a great MC series get into Susan Fanetti’s Signal Bend series. It rivals Lauren Gilleys series and I am just totally hooked….
There is a central couple in each book….told from their POVs but there is an ongoing story of the Horde MC that continues through the series. Best read in order for that reason or you’ll miss the gist of their ongoing feuds and battles.

YAY! Nothing on my B&N account BUT I checked my email and I will be getting a credit in the next few days! *happy dance* Not sure how much but I should be getting another email telling me in the next day or so.
Yep, I checked and I have *some* books from 2011 and 2012, but not a whole lot and I guess they don’t qualify.
*takes another shot of Jager and sips more DITA*
Caring less and less now about not getting a credit… 😛

I meant I’ll be getting a credit to my B&N account.

A Jager AND DITA combo? Ruh-roh. I’d watch out for R.Renee’s questionable neighbour tonight Amy.

Thanks Lisa. I tried Signal Bend series but found the plot a bit too convoluted and gave up. I keep hearing good things about it tho’, so maybe I’ll go back and give it another try some time.
R. Renee
I’d like to say that was recent, but alas…it was not. Amy’s safe from my neighbors, questionable or otherwise!
Amy
Hehe, NO ONE is safe from me tonight though. 😛
Amy
OMG…R…bahahahahahahaha!!!!!! I just read your comment about college and your neighbor! Jager is fast and effective though, right? LOL!!
Tessa…Jager is Jagermeister (I’m sure you knew that) and you HAVE to try it at least once. But when I say once, I mean more than one shot of it when you DO try it. The first shot is kind of rough, but it kicks in so fast you won’t even CARE after that.
R. Renee
And chase it with root beer Tessa. That’s what my mom taught me. Lol.
Amy
Ooooh, I chase mine with Sprite (or Angry Orchard…no idea why but it works) but I will have to try root beer. Or Dr. Pepper!
Tessa
Angry Orchard. I can’t drink soda of any type.
Amy
Maryse…not sure if you’ve mentioned these somewhere yet (still trying to play catch up and haven’t even tackled that crazy list up there) but…
Leftovers is 2.99, normally 7.99
How It Ends is 3.99, normally 8.99
Both are by Laura Wiess, and Leftovers is the sequel (I believe) to Such a Pretty Girl
Amy
But Tessa, Angry Orchard is yummy! Especially the Summer Honey flavor.
Is it the carbonation that you can’t drink?
Amy
Okay, last comment and then I have to finish making supper…
Tarte is having a crazy good sale, and if you use PayPal you can take an additional 20% off!!
Tessa

The acid.citric, malic, or phosphoric (that I know so far). They produce an allergic type reaction in me. I think malic acid is in juices? Either way, I can’t.
Amy

Aw man, that sucks Tessa. 🙁
You know what, I think I remember you mentioning that one time. It sounds VERY familiar. Damn, my memory is getting worse and worse…
Tessa

It’s the Death In the Afternoon. 😀
R. Renee

No way!! She wouldn’t be able to type!
Sofia Grey
Jager? Seriously? Yeuch. That stuff tastes like cough medicine!!
What happened to good old fashioned Tequila 🙂
R. Renee
They’ll both make you do bad things, but Jager will make you happier while you’re doing it. But yeah…gross.
Tessa
Tequila tastes nasty! Uck. It ruins good drinks.
With Death In the Afternoon, wouldn’t the champagne make it not as alcoholic?
bev
Angry Orchard?? Is it a soda?
I love honey.
R. Renee
Well…I’d tell you but I don’t remember!
I’m a Texas girl. I love ice cold tequila, but I sip it. I never shoot it.

Yey thank you for posting the credit announcement! Would have totally skimmed over the email. That was when I was using B&N. Got $68 🙂 Now I have to DL the Nook app again.
bev

One day.
I mean about the DITA. I don’t remember what happened after that…
Tessa
Bev, Angry Orchard is a hard cider. I never had it before my FL trip, honestly. My niece ordered it and I had to try a sip. I finished hers off. 😀
Amy
Hehe…don’t think I’m not going to go and buy some absinthe now. 😉
And really, ladies? Yuck on Jager? Pshh…y’all are pansies. It doesn’t taste that bad. Then again, I love black licorice so…yeah.
*holds palm up to Michelle and turns away*

My Guardian you will be read this weekend! Right now I’m at about 70% in Beautiful Wreak by Larissa Brown and I ADORE it! Another great find Maryse that I would have missed without ya 😀
Amy

Yep Bev, Angry Orchard is exactly what Tessa just said it is. There are a bunch of different flavors and they are soooooo good.
Tessa, you were able to tolerate the acid in it?? Go you!!!! 😀
R. Renee

I’m having a writer’s/reader’s retreat in July Amy! And I just so happen to have one of those cute little absinthe spoons! Not only can you read about little green fairies, you can become one!
Tessa
I guess there wasn’t that much in it.. Which, of course, meant that later, we bought a six pack for the hotel fridge. lol Except we got some weird cherry thing called Old Fashion that wasn’t good at all and has oranges (which is a severe allergy. Yep, still had to try it).
Amy
*slides shot of Jager and bottle of Angry Orchard over to Tessa* Now stay away from the orange drinks, m’kay? 😉
R…I can be a fairy?? MARYSE!!! We can be fairies at R’s retreat!!
The credit was the result of a lawsuit & credits you for certain purchases made from 2011-2012. For NYT best sellers, credits were as high as 6.50 per book. For others, 1.50. I don’t buy best sellers, so mine was the 1.50 variety x a bunch of books we were all overcharged for. If you bought a bunch of Indy books, no refund there. I wasn’t reading Indies in 2012!!! Haven’t spent a penny yet.
In a reading rut again. Looking for something that will grab me & in full avoidance mode for the many many on my Kindle!

Jan130 you are so right, I love to find great MC books. I have just finished all of Lauren Gilley, KA of course. I did just get done reading “Property Of Drex” 1&2 by C.M. Owens which was good if you haven’t tried that author yet.
Thanks Lisa for the advice, I have read Susan’s books. Please let me know if you find any more that you can think of.
Jan130

Have you read Joanna Wylde, LisaKay? Her MC books are really good too.
Hmm.
Tessa drunk & running around dressed only in glitter proclaiming to all she is a fairy and free.
Wonder what will happen?
Amy

R’s old neighbor will be chasing her. *snort*
R. Renee

Tessa

Why would I be only dressed in glitter? Can’t I have clothes too?
R. Renee

meh…clothes are optional.
OMG!!! Full Tilt = 5 Maryse STARS!! 🙂 Pre-order. Right now!! with all your kindle credits!
bev
It seemed more believable.
Amy
Nope, no clothes. Only a thong. Maybe some pasties.
All the men you’ll be flying over will appreciate it.
Damn, all these weeks of not drinking as much during the school week has lowered my tolerance…but i like it!!!
Lisa
I wish I could absinthe fairy my self all the way from here to R’s Texas retreat!
Not too sure about the thong and pasties. But you go for it Amy!! We’ll cheer you on.
LisaKay

Yes Jan130 I have read Joanna Wylde, and her books are good too. Thanks for the suggestions……I really appreciate it. If I find anymore good MC books I will let you know as well.

LOVED Susan Fanetti’s Signal Bend series BUT it is very violent and graphic so listen to the warnings Susan posts at the end of the blurb!
Wow I missed a drunk Partay!!!!!!!!!!
R. Renee
Nah! It’s close enough to Friday right? Here. Have a shot, Ela…
Bev – I have it on loan from library, so I MUST get to it quickly. I was in the mood for something more grown up, and I understand it can be read by teens?? Anyhoo – I love her writing, so I will definitely read it soon. I started and abandoned a few and then read blurbs on Amazon to use up my credit. Not a very productive reading night. Nothing is blowing me away.
Fabi
At this point I can barely remember the last book that blew me away. I keep one-clicking and rifling through my tbr. I guess I’ve read a lot of good books – nothing great in months.
Ela

*downs 5 shots* thanks R!
Tessa
My last super great was Invision. I think that has more to do with loving the series and where it went than anything.
FLT:
‘I woke up in a pool of sweat, my mind racing and my heart hammering in my chest.’
Coast by Jay McLean
FLT: “Some seek the limelight and some hold the light in place.” – The Man I Love. I swear this book reads like poetry. It was slow starting. But I hung in there and at the 35% mark…holy crapola. I’m really glad I did. Needless to say, sleep didn’t happen last night.
R. Renee I KNOW!!!!! I love that entire trilogy and each book gets better and better. And I too (as beautifully written as it was) hovered in the first 30% wondering if I’d continue or not, but yep. And it only gets better from here, my friend.
Absolutely I do. It’s like my Ace in the hole, lol.
Tessa
What an ace. It is still my favorite so far this year. Especially this one part… *grins*
Amy
WHOOP!!!! I’ve got 90.14 in B&N credit!!! 😀
FLT (same as last week because RL interfered and then I got sidetracked by a YA book *snort* How old am I again? Hush, Bev :P)
“All of Allana Harrison’s stories started with a party.” ~ 1986 by Morgan Parker

“God save me from the Los Angeles Unified School District. ”

Bev…you got $100 on your Nook?
Lisa

FLF:
‘Welcome to Signal Bend’.
Leave a Trail, Susan Fanetti
A completely innocuous first line which doesn’t even attempt to illustrate the kind of shock/horror/grief served up in this series. I cant sleep….just lying, with eyes as big as saucers staring at the ceiling.
bev
Yes, and I’m shocked.
I rarely bought full priced books. Always at the library.
For the most part I’d buy the sales list each month.
Amy
Lisa…I only got as far as book 1 because that series didn’t work for me, but I am soooo jealous of those of you who get to have all those feels from it! How the heck does that make any sense?
And by the way…it’s Tessa who is running around in a thong, pasties, and glitter. 😛
Amy
Yay Bev!!! Wanna happy dance with me? Come on, you know you wanna.
*nudges Bev with hip and elbow*
Eh? *waggles eyebrows* Eh??
Lisa
Haahaahaa….well its definately NOT me in a thong and pasties Amy!!
And yep….there is a chapter in Show the Sun that made me have that complete physiological response….shaking hands, pounding heart rate, nausea (oh…most definately nauseated).
I am in awe of authors that can…. with word alone….make a reader FEEL so much.
Tessa
Well, at least now you’ve given me a thong and pasties. However, pasties hurt to remove, so NOPE.
Tessa
And also, Bev… congrats to you too!
Amy
And how do you KNOW pasties hurt to remove, huh? 😛
Fine, no pasties.

bev

Thank you.
Amy
Lisa…I know it sounds weird (at least I know you guys here will get it though) but I wish so badly that I could have connected with the characters so I could experience all of that turmoil. 😕
*shrugs* What’re you gonna do?
Tessa
A shirt! I’m wearing a shirt! lol And I know because it was my sister’s solution to a bra for her bridesmaids.
LOL!!!!! bev you crack me up! I’m backtracking through the glitter fairies and the eager-absinthe fest sipping my caramel martinis. The girls are a-spinning, sprinkling fairy dust, and bev is all…
“Watch Sherlock.”
Yep. That was the funniest post yet!!! *snort* 😛
Amy
*snicker* “Thank you” for throwing extra glitter to cover up her girls?
bev
But then how are you going to fly?
Amy
Okay Tessa, that DOES make sense.
Tessa
Shirts have to much gravity to fly?
Amy
No, they’ll hold your wings in and you need your wings to fly!
bev
Yes.
Tessa
Too* And what if I cut holes in the back of my shirt for wings? Can I fly then?
bev
I don’t know.
Can you?
Tessa
If I get fairy wings, yes!
R. Renee

R. Renee

Fabi

Amy

*cradles absinthe and turns away*
Nope. Not handing any liquor over. NEVER handing any liquor over. Unless it’s to share. And I don’t think you want to share right now. So this here absinthe is staying safe in my bosom for the time being.
Come on, Tessa…dance and skip around R while I throw more glitter on her!! 😛 We’re ALL fairies tonight! Hey, where’s Maryse? She is the fairy-est of us all! *snort*
Amy
Fabi…I’m pretty sure they just credited my account, kind of like when you load a gift card. I just received the email earlier today with the total amount but I haven’t checked my B&N account yet. Give me a sec and I’ll check.
Bev, it was Who I Kissed by Janet Gurtler. It didn’t rock my world or anything, but it was emotional and heartbreaking and put a lump in my throat MANY times, and it kept my attention clear ’til the end.
bev
See, i didn’t have another email but checked my nook account and there it was. Funny cause checked this afternoon and it wasnt.
I really don’t think it was this high last time.

When can Tessa stop circling me? I’m super dizzy and I have glitter in my eye!
I love everything I’ve ever read by Cara McKenna (although this “threesome” series throws me a bit – but I haven’t actually read it yet). That said, NOBODY writes steam like Cara. YUM!
Amy
Fabi…I checked my account and it shows a credit of 90.14. 😀 Time to do some shopping!
Bev…I got the email earlier today so that’s how I knew the amount. What do you mean by “this high last time”?
Fabi
LOL R. someone’s getting grumpy and needs a nap
Amy
*giggle* Do you need an absinthe flush for your eye, R? 😛
R. Renee
Considering how late I stayed up with that book last night… Maybe you’re right…
bev
This happened before, or maybe it is the same lawsuit. But they had to do a payout, at least Nook did.
Fabi
I guess I don’t know what part of your account you’re checking. I have GC area (no GC listed) and a Payment Options area with my CC. *shrug*
R. Renee
Does that work the same as the vodka eyedrops all the kids are doing? Asking for a friend…
bev
I signed into my account. I clicked gc and has amount and to activate I need to buy a book. But mine just came today & I think some got theirs yesterday so might still come.
bev
Vodka in your eye. Why?
Amy
Oh man, I’ve heard of teenagers doing that! Bev, google vodka eyeballing. It’s freaking scary what kids these days get up to. 😕
Fabi, go to My Account—->Gift Cards—->Manage Gift Cards & Credits for Nook Content
Also, if I remember correctly you can load GC directly onto your Nook so there is the option to check your balance right on the Nook as well. I have to fire mine up so I can check.
Amy

And Nook had to pay out some money before? Hey, at least this time you got a nice chunk to spend. 😉

Holy moly…1986 just took a crazy-a$$ turn. Seriously…my tummy is twisting up. See why I kept hold of the absinthe? I NEED it right now!
I am SO glad I went in blind aside from the blurb.
Okay Amy.. is this a Marmy book? I think it’s a Marmy book.

Holy sh*t, I have been MIA for a few days, sick as a dog. Literally just read Amy’s rant about Amazon and about died reading it… legit. almost died coughing laughing so hard. Thank Amy, I love you girl. Everyone should read this at 1030 am.
And R. Renee… questionable relations with questionable neighbors… I’m totes stealing that line and using it in my next story, just so you know… I’ll credit you in the acknowledgements but that’s awesome!
You guys are awesome, I luffs you all! Of course, now I have the disturbing urge to drink in the early morning hours, but it can’t be helped I suppose…
I have no idea what my nook log-in is, I haven’t used it in 4 years… I dont even remember what email i was using then, I have gift card envy in a huge way, it’s like penis envy… but bigger…
R. Renee

Ha Grey, it’s all yours! And I’m a big proponent of early drinking! I mean, it is Friday after all! As I sit here with my virgin diet coke 🙁
Hope you’re feeling better!
Tessa
Hehehe Penis envy, but bigger. *grins* I’m going through the same thing. I’ll get a check, but who knows when? I’d prefer a huge chunk of change on my Amazon account. 🙂
That makes me a bad-ass too, doesn’t it? Right? RIGHT?

Amy
Hmmmm…is it a Marmy book…I would say 1986 is a Marmy book. Not a OMG-you-have-to-read-this-NOW Marmy book, but a book you should add to your short list.
I’ll *try* to sum it up quickly and without giving anything away…the writing was pretty good, nothing spectacular but I am more forgiving with male authors writing a female MC. (I am MUCH harder on female authors for whatever reason. Don’t ask ’cause I don’t know why) There were some “huh?” moments that could have been clarified a bit better, and there were some typos which weren’t a big deal at first but were much more frequent in the last one-third of the book. That aside, this isn’t a steamy cheating book like Arsen or Thoughtless…she jumps into the affair right away (no insta-love though), but it is actually believable because she had a history of jumping right into unhealthy relationships with guys before she was married after an emotionally traumatic experience in high school (not rape, so no triggers).
What makes it a Marmy book is the TURN it takes. There were several times where I was thinking “WTF is going on?!?” right along with her, and even *I* didn’t know who she should believe or what she should do. It’s not a mindf&%k, and it’s not a thriller, but given the setting of being in 1986 Ukraine (I love books set in times before cell phones and internet) with the whole KGB fear and being an American who is at risk over there, it was definitely a tummy-twister with a nice punch to the chest when everything is realized. And the ending and epilogue…GAH, bittersweet!
Amy

And yes, Maryse…you are our glitter-covered, pink-lovin’ badass Mami. 😉
Ela

Aw man, Ela…do you KNOW how much that is going to kill me to give you a spoiler? Why don’t you want to read it??
I should really just make you read it. 😛

OMG MY GUARDIAN IS LIVE???????? HOW IN THE WORLD DID I MISS THIS? I FOLLOW ALANEA ON FB AND I MISSED THAT TODAY IS THE DAY! NEXT THING I’LL BE MISSING CHARLEY DAVIDSON AND AMELIA HUTCHINS!
LOL!!!
Ela, that’s what I’m here for!!!
And a few of our fellow readers that find the ones we missed. 😉
*hug*
I can tell you’re excited. LOL!!!! 😛
Born of Legend on audio is THIRTY HOURS LONG. I’m so excited that I may pee a little.
Cat, you just made my day!
LOL!!!!!! It’s like a whole TV series!
Thanks for the heads up on that gift-card info! $110 – not too shabby! My summer reading just got more interesting!!! Woo hoo.
My pleasure MichelleS!! Mine looks like yours. 😀
Thanks for the update about the Amazon gift cards/lawsuit. I have a balance of $71.95 🙂 time to go download some new books!
Unless I’m looking in the wrong place. I got nothing! I wonder if the timeline is far enough back that I was still using Nook…
Go look at your Nook account? Maybe you have some in there?
oh? It’s not just Amazon…? Off to check.
Thanks for the Amazon heads up. I just checked my balance and I have a whole $1.57. I’ll try not to spend it all at once.
LOL Stephanie!!!!!! *hug* there are some 0.99 cent goodies for sure! 😀 You can have one and a half.
See!!!!!!!!!!!!! What would I do without these lists???? Thanks Maryse!
Looks like I might be getting something on Nook, just got an email and that’s about the time I only used Barnes & Noble.
YAY Ela!!
See Fabi? Did you see anything?
Nook won’t show for another couple of days according to the email…
I didn’t see anything on mine and haven’t received an email either. Oh well…
Go to “my account” and “gift card balance” – and you can use it on anything at the site, not just books.
I don’t know about Amazon but on Nook it expires June 24, 2017 so a whole year later. Also, Nook balance will show up in the next few days unlike Amazon. I wonder what I can get at Barnes & Noble besides books and magazines?
I received one from Amazon and from Apple. If you’ve bought iBooks check your iTunes account as well. $75 from Amazon and $230 from Apple. I’m set on books for awhile.
*squeeeee*!!!! 😀
MARYSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Did you … did you.. DID YOU SEE????
Rock Chick: Reawakening? DAISY AND MARCUS STORY IS OUT FOR PRE-ORDER!!!!!
Someone hold my laptop while I faint.. OMG!!
*SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!*
LEE. I LOVE YOU!!!!!! 😀
OMG SUSAN!!!!!!!! Yours is the highest I’ve heard so far!!!!!
Susan wins the Amazon! LOL! 😛
Jan130… I LOVE how Kristen Ashley’s book prices have remained steady (indie or traditionally published versions).
I LOVE it.
Holy cow, you guys have been crazy chatty!! LOL! Hi all, catching up!
Grey, what did you think about Jellicoe Road? Good or bite your lip bad?
It has been a hard week all ready. Errands and then curl up with a book. I think Hardball or maybe Bittersweet. Something a bit easy and light.
Me neither. Nor on nook though got tiny bit on it last time. Got a Kindle end of 2012
Man, what do you think Amys is?
I was wondering the same thing… Amy’s is gonna be crazy.
Sophia I LOVE that tidbit. He sure is cute! 🙂
Pia I’d read 321 and loved it too.
Still nothing on Barnes & Noble…. The last time they paid out I had about $160 in credit.
Wow $600! You can practically buy a car!
Where’s Amy? I’m very curious how much she got!
Ela, the B&N didn’t show up on gift card. Like Tessa got an email that I’ll have it in couple days. I almost deleted the email unread, lol.
Yeah, anyone who used Google or Sony Reader gets a check later in the mail. It makes sense because the first time I got about twelve dollars in the mail by postcard-check.
For the cocktail loving ladies. Based on one of my favorites last year.
https://foreveryoungadult.com/2016/06/22/dumplin-cocktail/
My Amazon credit was $6.00, I will take it, but compared to Susan $600…….wow just wow, how awesome for her. Has anyone read any of Lani Lynn Vale MC books, I was wondering if they are any good?
Yay! I just saw on FB, Maryse finished Full Tilt and loved it 🙂 I love it when something I love is loved!! Whew! That was a mouthful!
R. Renee!! I just put two and two together with your Twitter account. LOL!!!!!!!!!! 😀
hahaha!! I’m sorry I thought you knew.
*GASP!!!!*
Amazon credit?!?!?!?!?!?
*goes to check Amazon gift card balance*
***drumroll***
Amy’s drumroll? 😉
WHAT THE F%&K???
*throws iPad*
WHAT THE ACTUAL F%&K?!?!?!
A zero balance???? With close to 2500 books in my library??? That’s it…time to kick a$$ and take names. Where’s my Jager and shot glass…
*takes off earrings and throws them to Maryse* Keep ’em, mami…I’m not gonna get to wear ’em where I’ll be taken after I’m through with my rampage…
Sonofab!tch.
Stupid Amazon.
*quickly lines up shot glasses for Amy*
When did you start bugging ebooks from Amazon Amy?
Oh, I’m gonna bug their a$$es now alright.
Buying not bugging
Amy,yoy used to use Nook like I did…
So you have to actually have a Kindle to have credits? Not a Kindle app on your phone? I’ve never used a gift card to buy a book. Is that what you have to do for an actual Kindle?
Right. Nook is a separate gift certificate.
You had to have bought Kindle books between 2010-2012. I started in 2013.
R. You have to have bought a kindle ebook ( any app) before May 2012
Ohhhhhh
I started buying them in 2011 when I got my first iPad.
Then again, I didn’t start buying Amazon books like a virgin buys vibrators until I found this place so…2012?
*slumps shoulders and starts filling up Jan’s shot glasses*
I’m going to check my B&N account real quick…
Them go look at Barnes and nobles!
*takes a shot glass* What’s in these again?
I’ll have what Amy’s having…
Jager is in ’em!! 😀
Still trying to navigate B&N website.
*takes first shot*
Like a virgin buys vibrators? LOL Amy. I’ll blush now when I think of my mad amazon buying patterns.
Here, try this. *slides a large Death In The Afternoon towards Amy* It’s supposedly one of the most alcoholic cocktails in the world…… 😉
I’ve never had jager before.
Uh oh… Jager huh? I missed my college accounting final and had questionable relations with a questionable neighbor after a night of that stuff…
Yes Jan!!! Ernest Hemingway’s cocktail! I served them at my Halloween party last year! They’re made with absinthe! And they’re disgusting! But effective…
*sips Death In the Afternoon drink*
Whooooo-hoooo!! Thanks Jan! 😀
You’re right, Fabi…I DID use my Nook for my reading during that time. That’s when I was all crazy over the YA PNR series so I bought oodles of complete series.
Then you might end up with a Nook credit in a day or two.
I’d like to say that was recent, but alas…it was not. Amy’s safe from my neighbors, questionable or otherwise!
Hehe, NO ONE is safe from me tonight though. 😛
And chase it with root beer Tessa. That’s what my mom taught me. Lol.
Ooooh, I chase mine with Sprite (or Angry Orchard…no idea why but it works) but I will have to try root beer. Or Dr. Pepper!
Angry Orchard. I can’t drink soda of any type.
But Tessa, Angry Orchard is yummy! Especially the Summer Honey flavor.
Is it the carbonation that you can’t drink?
Okay, last comment and then I have to finish making supper…
Tarte is having a crazy good sale, and if you use PayPal you can take an additional 20% off!!
The acid.citric, malic, or phosphoric (that I know so far). They produce an allergic type reaction in me. I think malic acid is in juices? Either way, I can’t.
Aw man, that sucks Tessa. 🙁
You know what, I think I remember you mentioning that one time. It sounds VERY familiar. Damn, my memory is getting worse and worse…
It’s the Death In the Afternoon. 😀
No way!! She wouldn’t be able to type!
Jager? Seriously? Yeuch. That stuff tastes like cough medicine!!
What happened to good old fashioned Tequila 🙂
They’ll both make you do bad things, but Jager will make you happier while you’re doing it. But yeah…gross.
Tequila tastes nasty! Uck. It ruins good drinks.
With Death In the Afternoon, wouldn’t the champagne make it not as alcoholic?
Angry Orchard?? Is it a soda?
I love honey.
One day I will look at Maryse ‘ s FB and she will be watching Sherlock.
One day.
One day bev…. one day.
I mean about the DITA. I don’t remember what happened after that…
Bev, Angry Orchard is a hard cider. I never had it before my FL trip, honestly. My niece ordered it and I had to try a sip. I finished hers off. 😀
Yep Bev, Angry Orchard is exactly what Tessa just said it is. There are a bunch of different flavors and they are soooooo good.
Tessa, you were able to tolerate the acid in it?? Go you!!!! 😀
I’m having a writer’s/reader’s retreat in July Amy! And I just so happen to have one of those cute little absinthe spoons! Not only can you read about little green fairies, you can become one!
I guess there wasn’t that much in it.. Which, of course, meant that later, we bought a six pack for the hotel fridge. lol Except we got some weird cherry thing called Old Fashion that wasn’t good at all and has oranges (which is a severe allergy. Yep, still had to try it).
Bring it! It’s Texas so it will be hot but there’s food. And a slip n slide! And margaritas. And disco.
*kicks the ground* I wanna be a fairy.
I have the power to make that happen!
No seriously, I’ll post the flyer somehow and if anyone wants a vacay in TX this summer for the price of travel, I’m your girl!
MichelleS, did you try Carry On?
*skips around Tessa and tosses glitter on her*
Go, be free and be a fairy Tessa!
😛
Jan130 you are so right, I love to find great MC books. I have just finished all of Lauren Gilley, KA of course. I did just get done reading “Property Of Drex” 1&2 by C.M. Owens which was good if you haven’t tried that author yet.
Thanks Lisa for the advice, I have read Susan’s books. Please let me know if you find any more that you can think of.
Have you read Joanna Wylde, LisaKay? Her MC books are really good too.
I had to add a page to my website because i’m seriously internet stupid. But if anyone’s in Texas or willing to travel, join us! https://www.robinhillwrites.com/retreat.html
Hmm.
Tessa drunk & running around dressed only in glitter proclaiming to all she is a fairy and free.
Wonder what will happen?
R’s old neighbor will be chasing her. *snort*
Heck no, I’m sending him to you 🙂
Chasing Tessa?????
Fly, Tessa. Fly.
Why would I be only dressed in glitter? Can’t I have clothes too?
meh…clothes are optional.
OMG!!! Full Tilt = 5 Maryse STARS!! 🙂 Pre-order. Right now!! with all your kindle credits!
It seemed more believable.
Nope, no clothes. Only a thong. Maybe some pasties.
All the men you’ll be flying over will appreciate it.
Damn, all these weeks of not drinking as much during the school week has lowered my tolerance…but i like it!!!
I wish I could absinthe fairy my self all the way from here to R’s Texas retreat!
Not too sure about the thong and pasties. But you go for it Amy!! We’ll cheer you on.
At this point I can barely remember the last book that blew me away. I keep one-clicking and rifling through my tbr. I guess I’ve read a lot of good books – nothing great in months.
*downs 5 shots* thanks R!
My last super great was Invision. I think that has more to do with loving the series and where it went than anything.
FLT:
‘I woke up in a pool of sweat, my mind racing and my heart hammering in my chest.’
Coast by Jay McLean
Second book is still angsty.
Everyone but Bev who still needs to read book4!
https://happyeverafter.usatoday.com/2016/06/23/etched-in-bone-cover-reveal-excerpt-anne-bishop/
OMG TESSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🙂 Bev seriously needs to read the fourth book.
Absolutely I do. It’s like my Ace in the hole, lol.
What an ace. It is still my favorite so far this year. Especially this one part… *grins*
Really good so far, hopefully it stays that way!
Wooot! Congratulations Amy! Have fun with that. 🙂
I am reading two books, so two first lines.
“If Cara ever got engaged, the first thing she’d want to do would be get naked, not sell broccoli. ”
—All I Am by Nicole Helm
“God save me from the Los Angeles Unified School District. ”
—Hardball by CD Reiss
Trust me, Tessa…I really AM having fun with it. Feelin’ all old school buying stuff on my Nook. 😉
100.
Guess I’ll have to charge my nook.
Bev…you got $100 on your Nook?
Yes, and I’m shocked.
I rarely bought full priced books. Always at the library.
For the most part I’d buy the sales list each month.
Lisa…I only got as far as book 1 because that series didn’t work for me, but I am soooo jealous of those of you who get to have all those feels from it! How the heck does that make any sense?
And by the way…it’s Tessa who is running around in a thong, pasties, and glitter. 😛
Yay Bev!!! Wanna happy dance with me? Come on, you know you wanna.
*nudges Bev with hip and elbow*
Eh? *waggles eyebrows* Eh??
Haahaahaa….well its definately NOT me in a thong and pasties Amy!!
And yep….there is a chapter in Show the Sun that made me have that complete physiological response….shaking hands, pounding heart rate, nausea (oh…most definately nauseated).
I am in awe of authors that can…. with word alone….make a reader FEEL so much.
Well, at least now you’ve given me a thong and pasties. However, pasties hurt to remove, so NOPE.
And also, Bev… congrats to you too!
And how do you KNOW pasties hurt to remove, huh? 😛
Fine, no pasties.
*throws extra glitter on Tessa’s ta-ta’s*
Thank you.
Lisa…I know it sounds weird (at least I know you guys here will get it though) but I wish so badly that I could have connected with the characters so I could experience all of that turmoil. 😕
*shrugs* What’re you gonna do?
A shirt! I’m wearing a shirt! lol And I know because it was my sister’s solution to a bra for her bridesmaids.
Watch Sherlock.
LOL!!!!! bev you crack me up! I’m backtracking through the glitter fairies and the eager-absinthe fest sipping my caramel martinis. The girls are a-spinning, sprinkling fairy dust, and bev is all…
“Watch Sherlock.”
Yep. That was the funniest post yet!!! *snort* 😛
*snicker* “Thank you” for throwing extra glitter to cover up her girls?
But then how are you going to fly?
Okay Tessa, that DOES make sense.
Shirts have to much gravity to fly?
No, they’ll hold your wings in and you need your wings to fly!
Yes.
Too* And what if I cut holes in the back of my shirt for wings? Can I fly then?
I don’t know.
Can you?
If I get fairy wings, yes!
You guys are much crazier tonight than you were last night with all the absinthe and Jager…
*tosses glitter on R*
R, now you are a fairy! Yeah!
Ok. Hand over the Absinthe. You’re not fooling anybody anymore.
Amy, did B&N just add a GC to your account?
Ha! I wasn’t even drinking yesterday. Someone just promised me fairy powers, and now… You are a fairy too!
Amy is just happy.
Amy what YA book fid you read.
*snort*
See, i didn’t have another email but checked my nook account and there it was. Funny cause checked this afternoon and it wasnt.
I really don’t think it was this high last time.
“THE FIST comes toward me in slow motion like some fucked-up cartoon, slamming into my jaw and knocking me sideways.” Out of Nowhere by Roan Parrish
I have high hopes for this one!
When can Tessa stop circling me? I’m super dizzy and I have glitter in my eye!
R. Renee… the doctor says you’re not supposed to get glitter in your eye!!!
MichelleS, Cara McKenna ‘ s new one is getting some very good buzz. Maybe it’d work for you.
Hate the slump.
bev and MichelleS…
I love everything I’ve ever read by Cara McKenna (although this “threesome” series throws me a bit – but I haven’t actually read it yet). That said, NOBODY writes steam like Cara. YUM!
Fabi…I checked my account and it shows a credit of 90.14. 😀 Time to do some shopping!
Bev…I got the email earlier today so that’s how I knew the amount. What do you mean by “this high last time”?
LOL R. someone’s getting grumpy and needs a nap
*giggle* Do you need an absinthe flush for your eye, R? 😛
Considering how late I stayed up with that book last night… Maybe you’re right…
This happened before, or maybe it is the same lawsuit. But they had to do a payout, at least Nook did.
I guess I don’t know what part of your account you’re checking. I have GC area (no GC listed) and a Payment Options area with my CC. *shrug*
Does that work the same as the vodka eyedrops all the kids are doing? Asking for a friend…
I signed into my account. I clicked gc and has amount and to activate I need to buy a book. But mine just came today & I think some got theirs yesterday so might still come.
Vodka in your eye. Why?
Oh man, I’ve heard of teenagers doing that! Bev, google vodka eyeballing. It’s freaking scary what kids these days get up to. 😕
Fabi, go to My Account—->Gift Cards—->Manage Gift Cards & Credits for Nook Content
Also, if I remember correctly you can load GC directly onto your Nook so there is the option to check your balance right on the Nook as well. I have to fire mine up so I can check.
And Nook had to pay out some money before? Hey, at least this time you got a nice chunk to spend. 😉
Kids do some crazy stuff. I hear all about it from my teenager.
I believe kindle too. It was like 2 years ago. Do you ladies remember that? And this one is Apple paying out their settlement.
Holy BATMAN!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM LOOKING AT Total Gift Cards: $276.54
Ha Grey, it’s all yours! And I’m a big proponent of early drinking! I mean, it is Friday after all! As I sit here with my virgin diet coke 🙁
Hope you’re feeling better!
Hehehe Penis envy, but bigger. *grins* I’m going through the same thing. I’ll get a check, but who knows when? I’d prefer a huge chunk of change on my Amazon account. 🙂
It’s cool. Everything’s prettier now 🙂
Maryse! Have you ever tried Opal Carew?
Not a single one yet, Ela. Have you?
LOL!!! Amy went all bad-ass and called me Mami.
That makes me a bad-ass too, doesn’t it? Right? RIGHT?
*ohhhhh sparkly. I love hoop earrings…. MINE*
Oh Maryse! I have! Several in fact *blushes*…..now that’s some HAWT smut!
Thanks Maryse! That’s good to know. I was worried that when the dust settled if it would taper off. But as of now I’m still in sob mode.
And yes, Maryse…you are our glitter-covered, pink-lovin’ badass Mami. 😉
Amy! I need spoilers, please! I won’t be reading it yet I’m a tad curious. Send me something on GR if you have the time, please.
Aw man, Ela…do you KNOW how much that is going to kill me to give you a spoiler? Why don’t you want to read it??
I should really just make you read it. 😛
(But I’ll be nice and send you a message shortly ;))
