Tapping the Billionaire @27% I think I’m having an honest to goodness fit. I’m laughing so hard I’m snorting and tears are streaming down my face. I can’t breathe. Oh my gawd. Beyond hilarious.

I would have never read a book with that title and that cover if not for you lovely ladies. I don’t know wth the title and cover are meant to be because they have nothing to do with this story.

That is Going the Distance, Maryse. One of my favorites ….last year or year before.
It is different. If I remember correctly I think I thought the ending could of been a bit tighter, somehow.

but it was initially highly recommended by Jean and then several other ladies read it and agreed. I’d have to scroll back through to see who all read it in the last couple of weeks. Jan? Grace? Gah, sorry ladies, I don’t remember. There were several of you and I clearly remember Jean’s review and gushing first.

Think Im going to dnf with Smut weirdest book ever….and I’ve loved ‘everything’ Karina Halle in the past. 🙁
I hate not finishing a book but Im seriously more concerned and interested in the outcome for Fluffy than either of these MCs. Im just not getting it……is this a new genre? One where you ridicule your readers taste (and possibly intelligence) for smut…then serve up exactly that hoping no one notices you’ve just insulted your readers again!! I know….satire….I get THAT.

But I love my smut….NA, CR and whatever other moniker you want to chuck on it.
I know these books arent going to win a Man Booker, Miles Franklin or Costa Book Prize……but my Colleen Hoovers sit proudly side by side with my Emily Bronte and Jane Austen. It’s escapism – pure and simple and isnt that what reading is all about?

Smut has left me feeling a bit put out.

Just read Darkness Series this morning….it was REALLY, REALLY good! I went into it not knowing anything about the plot or characters or anything & I couldn’t put it down.

around 50-60% is where a couple of people dnf’d. Since I was BRing I kept going and enjoyed it.

P.S.- when you had rec’d it and mentioned the territory wars and fighting between the kids and stuff, I totally envisioned something like The Outsiders. Which I was obsessed with when we had to read it in high school. Even though the story lines are different and all, I still got all the same feels; so that was pretty great too, to feel that way again and get sort of a nostalgia about it. And I had gone in with high expectations bc I had envisioned that, and it totally delivered!

Hey so this also released today and caught my eye: A Light In The Dark by Marla K. Benjamin. I believe it’s debut book for the author. A little about it: wife gets kidnapped and husband is in despair and doesn’t know what to do, and then she’s found. And what follows is a bunch of ups and downs and trying to get their lives back on track. My some up doesn’t sound near as good as the actual blurb, lol but I’m gonna give it a try.

I had to go look up Tex quick bc I remember loving her style so much I read more books but not which ones. The only one I could remember after reading blurbs for sure was Rumble Fish.

lol Lisa. I wasn’t trying to get you to finish the book. There’s way too many books out there to stick with one that’s not doing for you. I was only clarifying the satire. It’s an entire tongue in cheek about uppity ups that look down on “our” favorite genre.

That was really good, even down to the names, lol! I swear The Outsiders was my Beautiful Disaster in jr high, I re-read that book so many times! And then after I read her other books. I discovered there was a movie and then preceded to watch it repeatedly for days. I had the biggest crush on Dally, lol

Matt Dillion was handsome. The casting for that movie was crazy. I read Rob Lowes memoir and I think that was the best part, when he auditioned, met the others, and made that movie. I liked his Swayze stories.

I read an ARC of Wild abandon and enjoyed it, 4 stars. Parts truly had me shifting in my chair with my hand over my mouth for the the h… Poor girl!

Also read an older release… Black Widow by Lauren Runow, pretty sure a bunch here have already read this one. Hot and steamy with a good bit of mystery. 4.25 stars for this one too.

Need a new one to wow me, real life has been very very tough lately…

Guys, I just downloaded a book that is on super sale (regularly $10.99)…..Angels Walking by Karen Kingsbury. Baseball star suffers career ending injury, hits rock bottom, and then takes a job in a retirement home and befriends elderly woman. Sounds so good! Anyone here ever read it?

Ugh Sugar Daddy ends on a CH. At least the author warned us beforehand! I’ll wait till the other 2 are out to read it.

Fabi – have you read The Holy Trinity series by M Sheehan? It’s got that good gritty writing style, set in a dystopian society, with zombies, gypsies, and something else paranormal!!! Me & Amy are super fans. I just KNOW you’d love it. Oldie, but goody.

Fabi – did you ever read After Hours? By C McKenna? It has a very Bastian like male lead. Slow burn. Loved it!!!

Yes! Though, it is not like the Immortals After Dark where it is one couple at a time. It’s a continuous story like The Throne of Glass series. I absolutely love it, obviously. It is nothing like anything else I’ve read.

Tears, Maryse? I cried during the end of Jellicoe Road. Pretty much through the last 1/4, lol.
This song the first time I heard it, years after it was released. I was out walking and just took me by surprise. I mean there were reasons it touched me so deeply at the time. Then put it on repeat. Still do when it comes up in my shuffle. It is beautiful, if you don’t know it give it a listen. His voice.

Thanks Jean, for the SR push. I’m in the middle of an Emma Scott book hangover crisis at the moment and I had to put down Tangled (which I liked) last night and pick up ES’s LBW. What’s with the lower ratings on this one? So far I don’t get it. Anyway that kept me up until 3:30 am for the second night in a row for one of her books! I’ll get back to Tangled but I’m bumping SR ahead of it. Unless my buddy reader ever catches up. I say all of this like I have this power when we all know: we do not control our books, they control us!

“I’m ok with them owning up and admitting it’s a pseudo name they’re using” and “Otherwise, let each book stand on its own merits I say” EXACTLY, my friend. Jennifer Armentrout does that and writes as J Lynn, but she is VERY transparent in doing so.

And I don’t see anything b!tchy about what you said…some authors are automatic one-clicks for me (TJR, for example) but for the most part I’ll read a book no matter who the author is, unless I’ve NOT cared for their writing in the past. To be honest, when I read a book and love it, it’s because I forgot that an ACTUAL person wrote it because I felt like it was a real living, breathing story that had its own life force which made it come alive for me, ya know?

Lol Fabi! Gentry Boys have been moved up on my list, possibly even for my long 4 day weekend coming up!

I liked it a lot, though the series is no where near as good as the Guild Hunter series. Guild Hunters is insanely awesome. It came second, so I guess that’s just the author growing as a writer. 😀

I now have the brand-new, shiny City of Mirrors paperback, the final in The Passage trilogy, but felt the urge to hold off and re-read the first two again to fully appreciate City of Mirrors, as it’s so long since I read them. So I’ve re-started The Passage and am fully hooked again already. Wow. That wonderful feeling of diving into an incredible, memorable book is coming over me again. There is NOTHING IN THE WORLD like reading a really good book. I’m a happy addict. Sigh ….
