WEDNESDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!! KARINA HALLE’S LATEST IS LIVE ON AMAZON!!! ILLICIT ALERT!! Heat Wave <— This is that one that gave me a blurb-jolt with, especially the last few lines. EEEEEP!! ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔
“…soon their relationship becomes utterly intoxicating. There’s just one major catch. The two of them together would incite a scandal neither Ronnie, nor her family, would ever recover from.
Forbidden, Illicit, Off-limits – sometimes the heat is worth surrendering to, even if you get burned…“
Happy NEW RELEASE DAY!!!! A TON of awesome releases today (many new-to-me) but also HUGELY IMPORTANT!!!! Yesterday’s “Early bird” Monday releases were AWESOME so if you missed it, check it out!!! NOT to be missed ➔ 20 Early Bird Book Releases
So what looks extra exciting to me today? THESE!!! ➔ #1 is that one over there to the left, because COLLEEN HOOVER!! Always my favorite, but I hear this one (Too Late) is TOTALLY different from her usual style, and DARK and even she warns the HECK out of us. And you know me… I love a good warning. *snort* The Turning Point (not a new release, but now two of my fellow readers have gone crazy for it – it’s mentioned as a what to read for those that loved Me Before You). *gulp* I WANT IT!! Major Love (because it’s a sports star romance, I laughed a ton with book #1, and I love this author’s style, and now #2 was just released!), Buttons and Lace (psych-thriller/dark romance and it sounds like it could be SO gooooood. She owes him BIG time, so he owns her… for now, and she has to submit to him. Once her reward jar is full, he’ll release her. Eeeeeeep!!), In This Life (she finds out the life-altering reason he never called her back…), Josh & Anna and Gabe & Claire (two couples & best friends, typical marital issues, until a tragedy happens… and only two are left), and!!! Scrappy Little Nobody (because I LOVE autobiographies, and I love Anna Kendrick!!),
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

- From Jennifer Ashley, With Love: Three Paranormal Romances from Bestselling Series by Jennifer Ashley & Allyson James
- From Caris With Love: Four Paranormal Romances by Caris Roane
- The Turning Point by Freya North <— POIGNANT, BEAUTIFUL TEAR-JERKER ALERT! It’s back on the list ’cause who can resist this recommendation from Amy AND Jan?
Amy: GAH!!! I finished it yesterday, and I have been thinking of it non-stop since then. The writing was pretty tough for me to get used to, and I didn’t know if I would ever adjust enough to it to fully become involved in the character’s lives. But Jan said it was the kind of book that sneaks up on you, and you know what? She was right. She was SO right because I found myself wondering what was going on with the characters whenever I wasn’t reading it, and picking it up again was like catching up with old friends and the happenings in their day-to-day lives. The story was just moving along, almost slowly at some points, and I was beginning to wonder if there was ever going to be any real drama when suddenly…BA-BAM!!! It cracked my heart wide open. And there was no shying away from what the characters were experiencing after that. It was raw and brutal and REAL, and I had no choice but to go through it all with them, painful as it was. There was definitely hope by the end, but I’m going to be bruised from this one for a while. *sigh* Loved it.
Jan: Yup Amy. That’s how I felt after reading The Turning Point. Bruised. I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters for days either. Freya North’s writing style is a bit different from what we’re used to, but I think she’s brilliant, because her characters are like people I actually know and care about. Don’t know how she does that! And the characters are pretty much what makes or breaks a book for me. If the characters are ‘meh’, it usually ends up a dnf for me. But Frankie and Scott? Their lives matter to me, crazy as that sounds. (I know, look out for the crazy book lady. Something like a crazy cat lady?) But what a beautiful book. Just wow.

Too Late by C. Hoover <— COLLEEN HOOVER’S LATEST BOOK PSYCH THRILLER ALERT!!! WARNING!!! This one is MATURE, and DARK, and not at all her “usual” style… in fact, she’s published it under the pen name
Stephanie: This story was amazing!!!
Jessie: I’m sure I’ve read her stuff before but why very mature? Sexy? (Putting it nicely)
Maryse: Colleen posted this: “*Too Late is a book that is very mature. It is not for young teens and has explicit content. If cursing bothers you, please avoid this book. If murder bothers you, please avoid this book. If pretty much anything involving drugs, rape, sex or violence bothers you, please avoid this book. I do not want anyone reading it who will later hate me for writing it, so I’m telling you now. This book is ridiculously inappropriate for most humans.”
Jessie: ok. Right up my alley. Lol. Sounds weird but I was one of few who thought twilight was good but lacking. 50 shades was good but too much innuendo. Lol. Coming from a black dagger standpoint. Lol. Don’t hold back! Let us have it. I know I can take it. Lol. Ok sorry. Rant. Over. Thanks Maryse.
Maryse: My pleasure Jessie and it sounds RIGHT UP MY ALLEY too. 😛 😉
Susan: One clicked! I’m scared a little lol but I LOVE everything CoHo
Melissa: I read this one wattpad a few months ago. It was amazing- like all of her books!!

Beautifully Broken by Laura Lee <— TABOO RELATIONSHIP ALERT!!! STUDENT-TEACHER… And LISA LOVED IT!!!
Lisa: It’s a definite 4 star read for me. It was a very well written story. The plotline itself was a bit formulaic – done one thousand times over, but it was still well done with characters that you wanted to know more about. Damaged girl (with a secret and a lot of angst over it in her past) meets the most beautiful man on earth. Insta-attraction and “the best sex ever” happens. They grow closer, but then the plot twist. A taboo relationship that sets up a plot to keep them apart…but they persevere and overcome, until the pivotal moment where the great “misunderstanding and miscommunication” happens, and our heart breaks in little pieces and we hold our breath and hope for their happily ever after.
However, the characters themselves are what kept me reading and invested in this couple. Both the characters were witty and charming. I laughed, I smiled, I shed a couple tears.

Just a heads up. BB Reid”s book, The Bandit, is a CH. It was originally a standalone, but she said too much story was left, so CH. FYI, AWESOME book.
Thank you Tessa!!! 😀
Started reading Filthy Rich and am enjoying so far but still thinking about MANAGED! Guess it really made an impression on me. Loved the H. He was soooo in control, cold, and emotionless and the h came along and just blew him apart. She could see right through him.
Julie I love cold and emotionless. In books. 😉 Always and only in books.
But that’s fun breaking through that.
Arrrgghh.
Half way through Nano and half way through my word count…25,000 and counting.
More plot holes than a sieve but hey, I’ll fix them later.
Missing you all!
Happy reading.
Hey Lisa! Do you watch Offspring?
*hug* to Lisa!!!!
I’m hafway through Thicker Than Blood. I have no clue why I abandoned it months ago, because it is awesome! I should have guessed – Madeline Sheehan… I mean really? That girl can write.
Oh My Gosh! Stephanie Plum TWENTY THREE??? I left off on the one before they went to Hawaii. Did she ever pick Ranger, or what? I don’t feel like reading it, but I want to know if she picked him. I was a Ranger girl in that threesome.
Wait wait wait. Scrolling back up….. L. Dohner and Kele Moon wrote a paranormal book together? Hot damn!!! I love both of those authors. Need to get that one on the list STAT.
WTG Lisa. Right on track.
Is it just me or are the covers getting more colourful and original?
Nay…I kinda missed a big chunk of the first Offspring season and never caught up. Then when the whole country went into melt down over the Patrick debarcle I knew I’d never catch up….so short answer…No.
See Through Heart by Amie Knight came out 2 weeks ago and it is so amazing. A touching second chance romance.
FYI Magic Bites, the first book in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrew’s is on sale for $1.99. It’s normally $7.99.

It is sooooo yummy and rich. The oil is extra virgin olive oil and I am an addict!!!!!!
Maryse. Now I’m hungry. Lol that looks good.
Yep Tessa I was wondering who the heck Elaine is…..
Maryse that looks pretty yummy 😀
Yum to those green beans!!
Hey ladies…I’m exhausted and overwhelmed by this new job but I’m still here. And I miss you all soooooooo freaking much!!! I’m going to go crazy one-clicking from that list up there (because why not???) and then I’m going to watch Maryse’s videos (because you’re adorable and make me crack up). Yep. That’s a sound plan if I ever had one. *nods head*
Too Late and Josh & Anna and Gabe & Clare (did I get that right?)…holy moly I’m IN!! Well, when I get a chance to actually read again. 😉
Amy!!! Even though it’s overwhelming, are you liking it? New jobs are always so scary at first…
OMG I’m dying right now. DYING. LOL!!!!!!!
How did you manage to eat those green beans without getting stuff all over your face? I would have had tomatoes all over my chin and cheeks and nose if I tried to film myself eating. *snort*
Amy congrats on the job…what are you doing hun?
Im out of the loop with Nano taking over my life.
You’ll be happy to know Amy, Im killing a character in my book tomorrow….I’ve ummed and arrred but he has to die. Sooooo Im evidently writing a death book?! Go figure!!
FLT:
“One upon a time, in a far – off land, I was kidnapped by a gang of fearless yet terrified young men with so much impossible hope beating inside their bodies it burned their very skin and strengthened their will right through their bones.”
An Untamed State by Roxane Gay
That’s a great first line bev.
It really is Fabi. The whole first, short paragraph.
They held me captive for thirteen days.
They wanted to break me.
It was not personal.
I was not broken.
This is what I tell myself.
I’m just starting it right now. I have wanted to read it for awhile now and keep putting it off, so just taking the plunge.
Bev, Did you ever get around to visiting the courtyard?
Yes, that sounds super good bev. I’m in the mood for dark right now.
FLT
“Kell’s head snapped to one side with a force that made him gasp.”
Drawn In by Barbara Elsborg
FLT: “When I was twelve, a fortune-teller told me that my one true love would die young and leave me all alone.” God-Shaped Hole, Tiffanie DeBartolo
So, this is weird. Last week my FLT was from Wolfsong: “I was twelve when my daddy put a suitcase by the door.”
What’s with all the twelve year olds?? LOL 😀
Ok y’all…. Managed was FANTASTIC! In my opinion it is by far Kristen Callihan’s best book. I almost didn’t buy it because I liked Idol but wouldn’t say I loved it because I struggled with the heroine. In Managed both main characters are wonderful. So different but they WORK SO WELL together. There’s tons of LOL moments and “did she really just say that moments?” Sophie is so hilarious and genuine. I was expecting Gabriel to be unlikeable since he seemed so cold and aloof in Idol. Not at all. I loved him so much. He’s very stoic and steady but he’s got depth that’s very obvious from the start. And once he lets loose, he really lets loose, committed 100%. There was just enough angst to keep the story from being flat and give some emotional depth without feeling “produced for effect” angst which is game over for me. I’m racking my brain but I can’t come up with a book I smiled more while reading this year. This might be my favorite so far in 2016!
Tessa, I finished last night. Posted my progress on GR. Much darker. It was wonderful of course.
Well compared to my FLT from last week mine this week is so boring-don’t let it stop you from picking up this book-I’m not very far into it yet but so far so good!
FLT:MIdlife crisis, Is there really such a thing? Find Me Alastar by T L Swan
wow bev you have me intrigued; that one sounds so good!
R-LOL. I have not read wolf song but read God Shaped Hole; how far in are you?
Nuh-uh bev no way no how. I just can’t read kidnapping books (or watch kidnapping movies either). In some ways the book sounds intriguing, but, nup, I just can’t do it. Too sca-ee & angsty for me.
R, my FLT refers to a four year old, not a 12 yr old LOL:
‘When I was four, my father died in an oil-rig accident’. Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas.
This is a rec from Skye Warren (see other thread). It’s a contemporary by a writer I only knew as a HR author. Didn’t even know she did CRs. My library had it so I thought I’d give it a try. And I’m liking it. It’s quite a detailed, slow, intense character study so far, but there is a strong love/romance element as well. Seems really well-written, and Skye obviously floves it. So far, so good.
Anti-Amy, Managed sounds good!! Bumping that one up the list.
Maryse, that has my mouth watering and I don’t even like tomatoes!!
FLT:
“You know those people who Lady Luck always seems to be kissing on the cheek?” Managed (VIP Book 2) by Kristen Callihan.
FLT: “There was a boy in her room.” Fangirl, Rainbow Rowell.
Got it on loan from library! Finally. Love her writing!
Yay, MichelleS.
I like your first line, Michelle. Makes you want to pick it up and read on.
Jan, have you read Rainbow Rowell yet?
Not yet. I haven’t been in the mood for YA lately, but I can tell you think I should 😉 You did steer me well towards Laura Florand, so…… which one do you recommend I try first?
I’ve honestly have liked them all. My favorites are E & P and Carry On.
Here Landline is on sale, but not sure if in Australia. Definitely popular enough to be in the library though.
I read all four of her novels last year. *Sigh* it was great.
Thanks. I’ll check the library.
First line the same as Anti-Amy and MichelleS.
Im loving Managed too.
Wish I had more time to read.
Happy dance that there is only 14 days left of Nano then Im tackling my GR reading challenge and all of these books that are piling up.
How’s Nano going by the way?
Just found the best Xmas gift for bookish types….its a leather bound journal and tve lines you write on are the words of a classic book. I bought Pride & Prejudice in pink.

These are gorgeous, Lisa!!!
Jan – I loved Eleanor and Park so so so so much! It was fabulous. I also really liked Carry On. I am glad I read it before Fangirl, though. Rainbow Rowell has the perfect writing style for YA. It just sucks you in right away. So glad I listened to Bev – she usually does not steer me wrong!
I loved Eleanor and Park too!!! bev does have pretty great book tastes. I need to venture into more of Rainbow’s books. Landline is the one that has me the most (blurb-wise). Did you guys know she (and Stephenie Meyer) are signing tonight (I think somewhere in California) together. I wish it was near me…
