Darker: Fifty Shades Darker as Told by Christian (Fifty Shades of Grey Series) ➔➔➔➔➔
HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY OF THE WEEK & HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOMMY!!!
She’s the one that would read to me every night before bed, and she’s the one that taught me to read, having me sound out the words… and overall, fostered my love of reading. All my life, so many of my most precious memories include my mom and I snuggled on the couch… reading. My mom and I going to library fairs and buying bags full of books for cheap and just reading our hearts out. My mom cheering me on when I’d write my own short stories for school. Thank you mommy, for the best hobby in the world! 😀
Don’t forget to check out yesterday’s Monday Earlybird Book Releases!!
And!! Here’s my 5-star review of Alessandra Torre’s “The Ghostwriter”. SO GOOOOOOD!!!
P.S. It’s not a huge list today (50+), but I highlighted a bunch that sound right up our alley, like that one up there to left! 😀 And check out one of the reader recommendations below (for Tillie Cole’s latest). Many in our crew our losing their minds over it. Do I dare?? Eeeeep!

Morning! 🙂
I want to read From This Moment. Ugh! All these good books tempting me away from my path of lowering my TBR
*side eyes Maryse*
Good morning! Can’t wait to peruse this list–I’ve got an itchy clickety-click finger!
Morning! I went an older route following Tessa with The Sect. Leslie! Why are you up as early as Maryse?
Good morning everyone!!! 😀
Awww, Maryse. Reading about your mom touched me–brought back wonderful memories of reading and talking books with mine, who also fostered my love of reading. Cherish her while you have her (I’m sure you do!) Happy birthday, Maryse’s mom!
Happy birthday to mom!
Happy Birthday Maryse’s Mom! I love that you have those sweet memories of reading growing up. Me and hubs loved reading to our son too. We miss Junie B. Jones & The Magic Treehouse books. Now my son is a teenager and he is into Rick Riordan books.
Ela, I am on East Coast like Maryse AND I wake up with hubs at 5:30 a.m.
Right now I am reading Ghosted by J.M. Darhower. I wasn’t really into it at first (but kept at it as you all loved it) and now it’s getting good! Yay!
Happy birthday to Maryse’s Mommy! *tosses all of the glitter and confetti* (no worries I’ll buy more!) I loveee that your mom read with you! I do the same with my kids, so it makes me smile. I hope I am raising little book nerds (I mean that in the best way) just like me.
Happy Birthday to Maryse’s Mom! I tried with little dude, reading to him, but his comprehension is lower, so he likes reading easier books. He does like The Magic School Bus chapter books. 🙂 Science is easier for him to comprehend for some reason.
And Consort! *spins* I’ll be getting that today. I’ve been looking forward to that for a long time.
Ela, tell me what you think of The Sect!
Happy Birthday M-Mom!!! OMG how is it almost mid-October? *runs back to cave*
Happy b-day Maryse’s Mom!
I’m completely overwhelmed with all the new releases….will never catch up. *SMH* I do have to read Sick Fux after all that screaming about it though!
Just started Second Grave to the Left and I forgot how frigging funny Charley is! I love her!!
Hey Tessa! I’m 33% in and it has my attention alright!
Crazy nutty, right? 🙂 I was so happy to see I had that and was like, huh… not many reviews… why not?
Oh, and Consort is mine. *happy dance*
Are you not reading the Rebirth of Sin?
I will. I figure I’ll wait until you all are done with The Sect. Right now, I’m reading The Hundredth Queen. I just started it this morning so I’m on page 2!
Woot hooot PAGE 2 THAT’S SUPER SPEED READING
Lol Right? At least it told me the writing is decent, Erm, in the first two pages.
*giggle* All this talk of speed reading. SMH.
Girls… we need to discuss the important things… did you all know today is National Angel Food Cake Day? I mean really? Do you eat your angel food cake plain or with toppings? Me, I love it either way, Come on, it’s CAKE!!! We need to get back to discussing the important things around here. Like food… and booze… oh crap… I mean books… I totally meant books… *tosses more glitter* 😉
I eat everything with toppings. 🙂
Happy birthday Maryse’s Mum! I have both my parents to thank for supporting my love of reading as a kid. My dad used to drive me and my siblings quite a few miles to our nearest library (which was like a magical world to me!) and also to book fairs. I remember bringing home a mixed box of hardbacks of Enid Blyton’s Famous Five books that we bought for about 20c for the whole box. And didn’t those books get read and reread! I think my fav was Five On A Treasure Island. And when a new library was built in walking distance, Mum always encouraged me to go – and that’s how my love affair with Georgette Heyer started 🙂
I had to laugh when I read an article a couple of years ago about making Enid Blyton’s books more PC (politically correct). The characters of Dick and Fanny from The Magic Faraway Tree have been renamed Rick and Frannie. Nice. LOL.
I’ll have toppings on my angel food cake too, thanks. Actually, I’d heard today was also World Mental Health Awareness Day, and also International young girl power day (or something like that!) . So while we eat our cake, let’s think supportive thoughts for those struggling with mental illness, and empowering thoughts to any young girls we know. Have a good one, everyone.
*takes another large bite of cake* Yum!
Maryse, if you tell me that you put cottage cheese on angel food cake… I may question *your* mental health… (I’m totally kidding… OK, maybe not… No, I totally am… I think)
Jan, *big squishy hug* yay for girl power and mental health awareness! And yay for your parents for raising an awesome lady! I remember inhaling The Babysitter Club books… Le sigh…
My fave little girl read was Nancy Drew books. I had every single one in hardcover.
AMY! Abi Ketner’s Hunted is now available again. The reason it was gone was due to a large law suit thingy. But here!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0746KF1NJ/ref=x_gr_w_glide_ku?caller=Goodreads&callerLink=https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22873623-hunted&tag=x_gr_w_glide_ku-20
Happy Birthday Maryse’s Mom!!!!
Quite a list. Now I have to decide what to read next.
Oh yeah! Nancy Drew was great. I think the Bobbsey twins were more my speed rather than the babysitting club though. I used to read some of my brother’s Frank Hardy books too LOL. I think part of the attraction of those kinds of books was the kids were all empowered. They could DO STUFF and problem solve on their own without pesky adults telling them what they needed to do. Luckily the cops were at the ready to handcuff the bad guys at the end, and the parents were there too with lashings of scones with clotted cream for everyone. (I think that was the Famous five). But NO SCONES with cottage cheese!! Just no!
I read Caveman when it first came out and very much enjoyed it. It was a very pleasant surprise!
The Hundredth Queen was really good. It kept me enthralled when I finally read it. (Somehow I was able to get past page 2!) I grabbed the second one since they are KU to read later. 🙂
I read the newer Nancy Drew’s and Hardy Boys’, the murder mysteries. I read the older ones too, but they didn’t interest me as much. Also, by that point, I was figuring out the patterns to mysteries. :/ Still, I did love them. Looking for a new book like them led me to Final Friends by Christopher Pike. My reading life would have been so much different without Christopher Pike. 🙂
*#%*~ YAYYYY!!! HAPPY belated B-Day to Maryse Mommy #*+~*^#
Lol I was trying to make it look like confetti… but it just looks like I have bad potty mouth – sowwweee
LOL!!!!! 😛
And thank you JAN read you coment on my break and told the staff! I just came off an 18 hour shift and In my line of work I see a lot of Mental Health issues unfortunately too many go untreated or not treated CORRECTLY esp in young women. Do me a favour girls go out today and buy some Vit.D3 1000IU Tablets and start taking at least 2000IU every morning. It increases your serotonin levels naturally which helps with both SLEEP and MOOD! Xoxo
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah is on sale for $1.99!! READ THIS BOOK!!
I LOVE that book!!!!!! Yes everyone needs to read it. Did I just see that it was being made into a movie?
Here’s my review of it in case anyone missed it: https://www.maryse.net/books/book-review-the-nightingale-by-kristin-hannah.html
Yes! I can’t wait! I NEVER see anything but I’ll be there opening night for this one with the hubs in tow!
There’s an IMDB page, but not much has been updated. I’m dying to know who they cast! I pictured Blake Lively as Vienne and Elle Fanning as Isabelle. Oh and a young Ben Barnes as Gaëtan.
Alright, anyone who loves wine, stock up. The last three days, the only thing on TV (for obvious reasons) has been the fires in Sonoma and Napa Valley. Those are the main winery areas, so… Stock up.
Ugh Tessa it depresses me.
*snort* Tessa tells me to stock up on wine… I immediately think she’s got a new bully book for me. *bangs head against desk*
Speaking of books into movies… anyone read “The Mountain Between Us” or seen the movie. I want to do one but not both
Hmmmmm what to do what to do
Grey! lol Join the Hideaway discussion group on Facebook, k? Then you’ll need wine.
Maryse, yeah. I had to switch off any major networks. It’s literally the only thing on. Worse, I didn’t find out until the next day about the canyon fire in Orange County. My family lives in Orange and that’s how I heard about it. Because the college my niece and nephew go to was closed due to the danger and my other niece’s school did the same. :/ Thankfully, their house is nowhere near the fire and my niece is enjoying the small vacation. (She’s 12)
On a happier note, I am getting a sick and twisted pleasure of reading everyone’s reaction to The Sect on GR. *grins* I need more reaction people!
Maid for the Rock Star (Romance Island Resort Series Book 1) Demelza Carlton is free right now.
Thanks Tessa! That was awesome to read all those Q&A’s.
🙂 You’re welcome. I knew you’d love that. It’s basically a page for a bunch of people to sit and try to figure out what happened and what will happen. But that Q and A… I had to drag you in.
