THE LATEST BIG NEW RELEASE LIST is ready and OMG it is HUGE. 100+ books, plenty of our favorite authors just went live, plus more that are new to me (or us) that have me intrigued.
Like: Crosstalk (I went crazy for a “sci-fi-ish romance movie a year ago – Timer – and the blurb of this one sorta reminds me of it, but maybe even more angsty!!! Couples can have a surgery that will allow them to connect even MORE with their partner, except that SHE connects with someone else altogether… YIKES!!! I WILL READ THIS NOW!!!), Rock Hard (entire ROCK STAR series released as a bundle and it’s rocketing up the Amazon charts), Two by Two (Nicholas Sparks LOVES to tear our hearts out, with twists that we don’t even see coming, and this one sounds right up my romance-anxiety alley. He’s got the perfect life, the perfect wife, until he finds himself a single father and a baffling new reality… sure, it sounds like we *might* have an idea of how this one will go, but this author tends to surprise me, which I LOVE!!), Travesty (new-to-me for sure, but she wakes up with no memory, chained in a basement, and has to trust a stranger to help her), The Bachelor Auction (modern day Cinderella story, but he’s no Prince Charming)… and Down Shift (strangers that need time away – one escaping his fame, one escaping her abuse, and they find themselves in the same place).
Yep… the choices are plentiful and SO promising!!! Which one to choose…. which… one… to… choose….? 😉
P.S. Review coming shortly of my latest psych-thriller read!!!
AND!!! Don’t miss yesterday’s earlybird book releases, ’cause there were 16 of ’em, and quite a few by our favorite authors (like Emily Snow, L.H. Cosway, and Courtney Cole just to name a few) ➔ Look what I found!! Fifteen Monday Earlybird Book Releases…
More to follow. 😉 Including my own “highlights” list.

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). But when everyone kept saying that Loche Johnson has literally THE biggest… well, “Johnson” of any professor at our college, that he used to do porn and there’s a birthmark on his hip that proved it, I got skeptical. Right? This one took me ALL day. LOL!
But it’s like a treasure hunt, so I enjoy it. 😛
October is such an exciting month for books. It has been filling me with anticipation since the beginning. I started Sparks book, Two by Two today, and am enjoying so far. As some of his books do, it is starting a little slow but I have a feeling it will take off soon. Another book that released today that I haven’t seen mentioned on here is Loren Oliver’s latest, Replica. The reviews make it sound unique, thus it could potentially gain some fans from around here. I know there are at least ten more books I insist upon reading that come out this month, so I’ll keep you guys updated. But, more than anything, I am waiting for Jodi Piccoult’s latest. The moment that book comes out I can kiss all productivity behind.
WOW Tasha!!!!! Great finds!!
I just added all three. They sound AWESOME! 😀
Right!? I wanna read all the books, asap!
Buddy read Maryse?
Which one, Grey? Tomorrow I was thinking of starting Crosstalk. 😀
Maryse did you ever start Hausfrau?
Er… I brought it to the top of my Kindle app. 😉
But then… Crosstalk. 😛
I’ll read it and let you know. Shhhh…don’t tell Amy!
Natasha recommended Everyone We’ve Been to me on GR, and holy moly!! MINE!!! It reminds me a bit of the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind which I LOVED. 😀
It’s going to take me a while to go through this week’s list (thank you so much for all of your hard work, Maryse! *huge squeezy hug*) but right off the bat I KNOW I’ll be reading Crosstalk…that sounds different and GREAT.
By the way, has anyone read chimera (yes, lowercase) by Stephie Walls? Y’all know I’m not much for male POV books, but this one is REALLY calling me. And obviously I’ve already clicked it. 😉
:-0 This list!
*thud*
That’s it, I’m moving to a deserted island with my Kindle and a high speed Internet connection.
Yep Crosstalk. Squee!
Good lord Maryse, lots of books to look at. Four Letter Word, Downshift, The Bachelor Auction and I want to read Beautiful but can’t remember–who’s Pippa??
Amy, yes I am going to read chimera too… Had it highly rec’d to me as well
Crosstalk – had to go make sure I hadn’t read it yet. But nope, so…mine!
Off to see about chimera.
Oh and Bang Gang sounds so naughty. lol I wonder if it’s rom-com or drama.
Not cool, R. Not. Cool.
Actually, now I’m going through what so many on here do when they build up a book and then someone else reads it…I’m going be pacing and peeking and biting my nails. *snort*
Damn Amy, chimera has manny and the blankie cave written all over it. Had to do a double-take of who the author is-so like Tarryn Fisher’s blurbs.
Hey! Guess who’s reading it???
—>this girl<—
What a gorgeous cover on chimera! I remember seeing people reading it on GR now that I see that cover.
I’m coming with you, Fabi!
YAY Grey!! So all of you naysayers who think I don’t give male POVs a fair shot…this is me doing just that! 😛
And Maryse…if Crosstalk didn’t look so good, I would SO hide the martinis from you. No martinis until Hausfrau. But since I’m pretty intrigued as well, I’ll let it slide. 😛
Oh yes, I want Bang Gang. The Bachelor auction, and of course Beautiful!!!! Along with Crosstalk, four Letter word, hausfrau, and what’s this!? And aftermath of jezebel??!?
Gah!!!
Whoa, whoa, whoa…back up. You’re reading HF, R?? I shall now commence pacing and nail biting!!
Cheryl, and get this…I’ve heard it has some of my favorite gut-punching qualities. YAY!!
Fabi, right?!? GORGEOUS.
Oh Grey…if you read Jezebel and Lying in Wait then you REALLY have to read Aftermath. GAH!! It was *just* the fix we all needed. I seriously love that author for writing all of that for us.
Yes silly! I told you I was only squirreling for All In! I’m done 🙂
And wait what about Jezebel?? There’s another one? Crap!
So do I get Hausfrau martinis?
Yes, my first goodreads recs! Lol, I was so excited when I got all these emails that these books released that I had to share and make some others excited too! Now I need to check out Eternal Sunchine of the Spitless mind. And also Replica up there. I’m just starting to really get into Neverwhere and I’ve had this on my tbr for a looong time and need to finish before it goes back in a few days. Then I wanna read a new and shiny!
*spotless, not Spitless
Sounds like a great new marketing line. “Don’t miss out in this brand new, spitless, spotless gadget!”
Anyone watching debate?
grrrr Bev
They are BORING! Even when arguing, they are boring. How?
I got The Hating Game from the library. I was curious with all the talk.
Lol. I feel bad for the moderator.
Lol Fabi, for some reason I imagined that said in a very posh British accent. -Tessa, you’ll love The Hating Game!
Oh, speaking of libraries. I requested The hammer of Thor, which came out today. I’m requester 39 of 44. It’s gonna be a while.
Thanks Tasha! I can’t wait. 😀
Yes Tasha, you should check the movie out! It was kind of hard for me to follow at first with the time jumps, but the color of her hair helps some with that. 😉
I hate watching the debates. They just make me angry as I watch the candidate I don’t like stand there and boast about how great they and their ideas are. I know that’s what they are supposed to do, but still…
Yowzas Maryse!!! That list us colossal.
Im heading away to a no-internet zone for a few days so I’ve madly been clickety clicking from this list…….like the 200plus books in my kindle tbr won’t be enough to see me through….bookaholic problems. *sigh*
Beautiful. Bang Gang. Four Letter Word. Click click and click….what else *scatches head*
Oh. And if you havent read T Gephart’s Power Station series all you lovers of wicked, sexy Rockstars…grab this boxed set. Great books.
I updated and organized my kindle while watching the debate.Still don’t think I missed anything important.
Doing a quick skim/re-read of Beautiful Secret before reading Beautiful. I really don’t remember reading it and it’s reacquainting me with Pippa and Ruby which I totally didn’t remember.
I found a new-to-me in my recommendations on Amazon that looks REALLY good…Faultlines by Barbara Taylor Sissel.
Not to be confused with Faultline by C. Desir, which left me all kinds of messed up. 😕 It was pretty dang good, but I just felt so raw and twisted up by the end of the book. I’m still not sure how I feel about the ending…
And speaking of C. Desir, her book Bleed Like Me is on sale for 1.99. It sounds like it is just as much of a mind-messer as Faultline. Click. 😉
Amy youre hilarious…..I run for the hills when I read ‘mind-messer, raw and twisted up’, while you merrily click away. Crazy woman!
Cheryl think I’ll have to do yhr same….Pippa is not ringing bells for me either.
Pippa has a smallish part in Beautiful Secret – she’s a friend and co-worker of Ruby in the London office where they both work. I did the same thing – reread Beautiful Secret first, which I think I did enjoy more the second time around, although it’s not my fav of the series. But you can go in ‘cold’ to Beautiful without remembering Pippa. Her character is established pretty early on Beautiful. I liked her and think she and Jensen worked well together.
‘Cause those are the FUN ones, Lisa!! 😀
Oh Amy….you lovable Masochist you! 😉
I had to snag the m/m anthology “It Was Always You”. I’m not one for either anthologies or novellas but with those authors how could I pass it up?
I know Terri. And with all the proceeds going to charity, it’s an autobuy.
Crosstalk??? 13.99???????? WTH???????????? I’ll wait to see if it’s worth it…
I can’t just get Aftermath? Gah! I don’t have time anyway, short or not. Amy can you just write up a summary for me?
R????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU MUST READ JEZEBEL ALONG WITH ALL THE OTHER REC’S I SENT YOU!!!!
R…I *could* write up a summary for you, but it would probably suck and then I would have to cry over not doing it justice.
Trust me, you have time for this:
https://www.maryse.net/news/paranormal-book-releases/hey-jezebel-fans-look-what-i-have-aftermath-a-short-story-by-k-larsen.html
😉
Jeez Ela! I read Jezebel and Lying in Wait!! I just found out about Aftermath!
Wait, but you HAVE read Jezebel and Lying in Wait, right?? Because if you haven’t, don’t even go NEAR Aftermath!!
Thanks Amy!! I thought I was going to have to buy the set!
Uh, never mind. We posted at the same time.
of course now I can’t remember who anybody is!
Okay, now the answer to who is who would be full of spoilers. I’ll send you a message on GR in a sec…
OK! NOW I’M confused…
haha! Thanks because I can’t find anything online and the blurb is too vague with names.
I just need Aftermath…..
Ela, click on Amy’s link.
Done and sent, R. 😉
LOOKIE!!!!
https://imabeautygeek.com/2016/09/30/opi-breakfast-at-tiffanys-collection-swatches-review-holiday-2016/
Thanks Amy!
Whoa! This would make the best TV series!!! *knocks on screen* “Hello, Hollywood? Do you hear me??”
Got it! Thanks!
How about a Mani/pedi party in the blankie fort? Amy, bring the OPI polish. I am in love with “I believe in manicures”.
I like that last scene in the rain with Hepburn & Peppard(so handsome. )
Duke by Jessica Gadziala also released today, fifth book in Henchmen series x
Yes Pedis in the blankie fort. Im coming out of a looong winter over here and my feet are the colour of a corpse and my toes look like they belong to a Hobbit!! Pass the OPI stat!!
I just KNOW you’re going to say you paint your toenails all year round Amy!
Amy, I am loving practically that entire collection!!
Ok, whew, I have read Aftermath… I thought it was something new new.
Cheryl, Amy, Lisa, R !!!! Every one with a serious significant other??????
Please do this, but let’s put in different quotes, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! !!!!!!!!!???????
https://www.cosmopolitan.com/entertainment/books/a4053852/romance-novel-text/
OMG dying and noooooo way! I have too much work to do tonight!
It doesn’t have to be tonight. We have to pick the quotes first.
well get busy!
Here is one.
https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR8dGp63REUukFscdAUNMSLX9X1MqFKiV3fr_uv_Wls8Z-vbT8SUg
OMG yes!!!! Tomorrow would be perfect because he will be in some sort of video conference thing and will be able to receive and send texts all sneaky-like, but he won’t be able to call me (which I KNOW he would do if I started texting him those lines!)…it would be HILARIOUS!!!
Ooooh, we LOVE manis/pedis in the blankie fort! Throw in a big pan of gooey brownies and some martinis and we are set!!! 😀
*hides painted toenails under blanket* Not ALL year round, Lisa. I miss a week here and there. 😛
I am totally doing this!! I am literally loling while out eating icecream with my girl reading these….don’t you just love how uncomfortable flowery prose makes men. You can just feel them squirming! Im gonna try screen shotting my attempt. Stay tuned!!
That romance novel text thing is hilarious!! My husband def wouldn’t play along though. He’s a big fuddy-duddy with texts. However, he would get my fave quote from Hunger Games (only cause he watched movies)
“You love me, real or not real”? and possibly the Twilight quote “so the lion fell in love with the lamb” because I have a shirt that says this. Hee hee
Let’s come up with good quotes for those of you with fun hubbys.
Oh, I am SO going to use the one from the article about taking a nap because we won’t be getting much sleep tonight. I don’t text him things like that, so I’m curious to see how he will respond! To be honest, he’ll probably respond with something along the lines of “WTH?” LOL!!!!
I have to use lines where he won’t realize right away that they are probably from books…
FABI!!! Remember you told me to update you on Evelyn, After? Well, here’s your update…
I’M LOVING IT!!!! 😀
My husband will be on to me right away. He reads my lines all the time and then I followed him around the house all weekend quoting Emma Scott. He could probably write his own at this point!
Hers another. Amy, that’s why I like the Rainbow Rowell one cause a bit off but not much. Then get progressively romantic, lol. Or crazy.
Another.
https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQgSRtLD6MdpyYL4sw7KrmMmqSgA9762BVk9ME7t24C24Rnc5YL
I don’t have enough liquor to send that one 😀
Amy, for when he really wants to know what’s going on.
For R’s husband.
Thanks for the update Amy.
I need to wait until he’s drunk with his buddy at the Austin City Limits festival this weekend and really mess with him!
Maryse, idk how close you are to Ft. Pierce but if you’re near any of the Atlantic coastal regions please stay safe. Those hurricanes are unpredictable.
Amy have I told you lately how much I love you and that I swear I’ll read Hausfrau next. I SWEAR. But more awesomeness just fell in my lap… 😀
No biggie, R. You’ll get to it when you get to it. 🙂
I second Fabi with safe wishes…hope the hurricane stays far from you, Maryse!!
Since it’s after midnight and technically Thursday, and I can’t effin’ sleep right now, here it is…
FLT
“Today was the end.” ~ Evelyn, After by Victoria Helen Stone
FLT:
‘Here’s what you need to know about me – I’m well-off, well-hung and quick with a joke’
Well Hung by Lauren Blakely.
? And modest, too? The bloke from Well Hung, I mean LOL Don’t know whether I really want to read about him…..
FLT
I’ve tried not to be too bitter about the close friendship between clarity and hindsight. (Beautiful by Christina Lauren)
I’ve finished Beautiful already, but I think I FLT’d my current read last Thursday (Goldenhand by Garth Nix). I stopped Goldenhand to read Beautiful but have now dived back into the wonderful fantasy world across The Wall again 😀
“I knew I was in love with Verona Cove the first day, but I waited until the seventh day to commit. ”
When We Collide by Emery Lord
Yeah so, this has been an interesting week…
FLT: “The doorbell rang at three in the morning.” An Exaltation of Larks by Suanne Laqueur
R. I got to ask. I know that she and Emma Scott are two of your favorites. I see you all talking on GR so a bit of a personal relationship there too.
So, what if you don’t particularly like that book? Not hate but maybe just, meh?
Will you tell them and rate it less than 4 or 5 stars?
*bites nails* I know. That would not be my favorite thing ever. But that’s a chance I take AND it’s why I would never put myself out there for writers who have a higher potential for failure. I can’t imagine either of them writing something I don’t like simply because I love their writing style so much. BUT, it can happen. It did with Renee Carlino, so anything’s possible. I’ve 4 starred a few of ES’s books and hated doing it, but it is what it is. They can’t all be RUSH or The Fish Tales. I’m especially nervous about this one because it’s historical fiction and aside from The Nightingale, that’s not my favorite genre, but so far so good. Her writing is haunting.
Oooh and Taylor Jenkins Reid, of course! I’d throw myself on the gauntlet for her too. 😀
4 stars, lol. It makes it sound like you gave her a C.
I have authors I love, but some of there catalog not as much as others. I was just thinking of telling them, yeah this one is more like a C…C+.
There are those reviews when it talks more of the author than the book, you know? I’ll see it alot with Hoover, how much they love her.
I love historical romance so am curious as to what you think. I still haven’t tackled the fish books. Is her funny writing funny? I’ve seen her comments to you and Maryse and they have made me laugh.
So have you read The Bronze Horseman? A few of us are tackling that sucker this month, you should join.
And Maryse *points* was thinking of trying Flowers from the Storm.
Lol. I hate when I re-read my post.
Their instead of there. And I’m sure her writing style is not funny.
*sigh*
Plus, my grammar is atrocious and lazy. I wish I could say that in person I talk better than I write, but no I do not. Then I just add mispronounced words to it all.
Yes and to be honest, I’m one of those readers. Much of my opinion is based on the writer/writing. I DNF books right and left these days because of the writing. So truthfully, if I love the writer/writing, the story is good, and there aren’t any stupid plot decisions, it will be 4 or 5 stars. And yes HAHAHA giving 4 stars to ES was like stabbing myself in the gut. I’m pretty sure I lost sleep over it. I think when someone finds a go to author, like CoHo, that’s just the way it is. And I also think anyone who knows me takes my opinion with a grain of salt. I adore these writers. I wouldn’t be human if that didn’t play into it. So if I give it 4 stars, it probably had issues. If I give it 3, run.
There are some humorous moments in the Fish Tales, but it certainly isn’t a funny series. It’s not for the faint of heart.
Oh I know!! This board needs an edit button! I really hate it on GR when you screw up a status update because those can’t even be deleted and every time someone likes or comments it pops back up.
I’m definitely in for TBH. And I’ll even comment profusely just for you, Bev. And stalk you and leave tons of comments on GR. And blow up your inbox. ‘Cause I don’t want you to be sad during our BR. 😀
I’m totally picturing Bev stealthily pulling FFtS out of Maryse’s TBR pile and then sliding it back in near the top…
Thank you. I appreciate that, Amy.
Ok. Let’s do a roll call. Who is in for the BR? Start date?
FLT
“Darkness became light.”
The Freezer (Genesis Endeavor) by David A. Kersten
This is a sci-fi post apocalyptic novel. It’s been too long since I ran into one of these I loved. I’m missing out on a BR because I can’t bring myself to squirrel away from this one.
Fabi…Hubby and I were watching Westworld the other night (that series is going to be crazy good and creeeeepy!) and I thought of you because of the sci-fi factor. At least I think it’s considered sci-fi? I’m not very good at categorizing books and shows/movies. Anyways, just thought I would throw that out there for you. 😉
Speaking of sci-fi…
Illuminae is on sale for 1.99!!!!! 😀
Amy thank you for finding that Illuminae deal! I went ahead and created a reading order guide for it since book #2 is coming out soon anyway. Hmmm… maybe now that I’m finding myself more into sci-fi, I should open that one back up. 🙂
I’ll have to check out Westwood Amy thanks. I have another sci-fi-ish that I recorded on Monday. Can’t even remember what it’s called now. But I just don’t watch tv much at all. I’ll go through phases and pick up on a few shows but seldom do I watch form ore than a season or two. I have tons of recordings from last season that I never got to.
Gemina, the follow up to Illuminae comes out 10/18. It’ll be the hard cover for me again.
Okay, I feel like I’m reading Evelyn, After by peeking through my fingers. I keep cringing and am just waiting for it to blow up. Gah! Knowing she is about to add to the figurative body count has me all sorts of antsy and its FUN!!
So..it’s October. Last quarter of the year and … I’m supposed to read:
16 ARCs that I’ve committed to
5 (no, it’s 4 now) BRs I’ve signed up for
23 paid for in my Kindle
208 samples that I’m dying to read
125 freebies that sounded interesting
This is “just” from 2016. Anyone taking odds on this? 🙁
Fabi it looks like you’e just a big book failure! I may have to pretend not to know you!
*slouches and walks slowly away from friends(not)*
Holy crap bev. 7% in and we’re at 10 stars with Larks. That leaves 93% worth of book to eff up. It took 30% of the Fish Tales before I felt the feels, but at 7% I’m a snotty, blurry eyed mess. Fabi and Leslie, do not touch. Amy, pre-order.
FLT- Prologue: “The night before he went to London, Richard Mayhew was not enjoying himself.”
Chapter 1: “She had been running for four days now, a harum-scarum tumbling flight through passages and tunnels.” -Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Maryse, I hope you are ok and not in hurricane zone.
Bev, I am a definite IN for BR for Bronze Horseman and I will start whenever. Can we do a thread for it over at the Maryse group on Goodreads? That way we can spoiler tag and really discuss it.
R, what emotional book am I to stay away from?
Leslie, thank you so much! I’m not in the hurricane zone. Luckily (this time) I live on the west coast, and VERY CLOSE to the coast, so while we will get 30-40mph winds, and maybe some downed trees, we *should* be okay. It’s “extension” is going to reach us a bit, but not enough to be destructive (I don’t think).
Suanne’s new one An Exaltation of Larks, but you probably knew better than to read one of her books anyway.
Leslie, I’ve had Neverwhere on my tbr forever! I see so many great reviews for it. I hope you’ll review it too. Maybe that will motivate me to bring it to the top of my tbr.
OMG…there is so much more going on than just her finding out about her husband’s infidelity. This poor woman goes from unraveling to pulling herself together and then back to unraveling, and now I’m just waiting for her to implode.
And you know what the scary thing is? I can see myself behaving the same way she is behaving. 😕
OMG AMY!! Is that the one you picked and it seems like you’re TOTALLY INTO??? I was going o start Cross Talk tonight, but maybe that one instead? Grey and I were gonna buddy read but she’s reading something else right now anyway…
Who’s reading Cross Talk and who’s reading Evelyn After?
Sounds REALLY good Amy.
I wonder which one Maryse picked for her October Kindle First. I haven’t picked yet. I’m just overwhelmed with books right now.
Fabi I picked… lemme look. One sec.
Evelyn After. That sounds good!!!! 😀
Fabi…let me know which one you pick and what you think of it! I’m also curious about Maryse’s KF pick…
Hear that, Maryse? Are your ears burning? ‘Cause we’re talking about you. 😛
Wow. I missed a lot. First, the OPI collection is cute, but I love the glitter on top.
That cosmo romance thing is hillarious. Especially the guy with the cult fear. rofl
FLT:
‘Eden crawled in the living room, the rough carpet burning her chubby knees and hands.’
Omens by Kelley Armstrong
Robin. Thanks for the update on Susanne’s book. It’s a Pandora’s box book for me by the sounds.
Bronze Horseman is the slowest burn in the history of slow burn. Sloth-like. We did that book years ago for my RL book club. The seige of Leningrad history in it is amazing. And from what I recall the H isn’t too shabby either.
Fabi the next Illuminae installment will be hardback for me too. I can’t imagine trying to read it digitally. Cant wait.
Just finished Beautiful and it was the perfect conclusion to that series. I’m going to miss that group. And can I just say. ..the Christina Lauren duo are bloody well Grand Pohbahs of contemporary romance…..their characters are so well developed and given so much depth the reader ‘knows’ them…..their likes, dislikes, idiosyncrasies, humor…..and the authors maintain the depth in the characters across every book…no one fades into the background. Loved it all.
I LOVED The Bronze Horseman… I learned so much about that time, and that country, it’s incredible. The struggle is so nightmarish. But the love story truly is epic.
Tasha J I love Neil Gaiman….did you read American God’s?
You’re welcome Lisa! This book is fairly long and I’ve been reading all day if that gives you any perspective, I’m only at 18%! The first 10% is very emotional, but not in a heart crushing: somebody died/cheated/ate the last of the ice cream kind of way, but more of a situational: that poor thing/what a tragic life/Sarah McLachlan singing for abused animals kind of way. Does that help? No? I’m drained. Getting wine.
Wait. Important things first. Did you all text your significant other?
Yeah, I haven’t had a 5 star book in over 3 months. It’s hard for me to rate sometimes too, because as a writer I know how much blood, sweat and tears an author puts into their work. But at the same time, like R, I am 100% honest with my reviews. I am not going to skew my ranking of a book just because I like the author. You guys know, it’s pretty rare that I hand out a 5. Mostly 3.5-4’s.
Anyway, FLT- She wanted to blame her parents for naming her Jolene. – Her Halloween Treat by Tiffany Reisz
Oooh good first line Thursday, Grey ’cause I love that song “Jolene”, so now I wanna read it. *snort*
Just popping in to say HI and miss you all. Been so crazy busy. My FLT is: “Kira and I watch as Megan and Georgie run their fingers along the panel of the alien ship’s hull, trying to pry it open and get out the girls enclosed inside.” Barbarian Alien Romance #2. Don’t remember who recommended this, but I loved book one enough to jump right into 2. It’s such Sci-Fi romance fun. Big alpha blue dudes and feisty human women “mates”. LOL. Needed that right now.
I SWEAR I was just listening to Jolene. I love Dolly Parton. AND it’s Tiffany Reisz? Gotta check that one out. That girl can write.
Maryse… you safe girl?
I’m safe Grey! 😀 My mom and her best friend came to visit (are here right now) so they’re actually all intrigued that they get to “sort of” experience a hurricane. Since we’re only getting the outer edge of it, it will be safe, but still plenty “weather-y” for them… 😛
I’m out for BR because I’ve already read the whole series. But I have to say, it’s stuck with me & is still up there with Outlander series for a favorite sweeping romance. Sigh. Loved them as a couple SO MUCH.
Bev – your first line grabbed me. Need to check back in so I can hear how you liked it.
Nope, I have like 10% left of Her Halloween Treat, it was just a cool first line haha, so…I’m still in for a buddy read!
Truth Grey!! I’ll be honest even when I don’t want to be. But because of that, I would never agree to “publicly” beta/ARC read a book (especially when I’m the only one reading it) I wasn’t sure I’d like. And ES and SL–so far–don’t write 3 star books IMO.
I grabbed the Evelyn one too. It’s Victoria Dahl, right. A pseudonym for her?
I’m disappointed in you all.
What about, bev? 😛
I have Kindle first too… I wasn’t sure what book to pick LOL!
No one texted their significant other. If you scroll up I posted a thing from a mag were the staffers posted romance lines to their partners, all seriousness. It’s funny. So Amy and Lisa said they’d do it. I posted some ideas but doesn’t sound like they did it.
Maryse & Grey are your guys home?
YES Maryse, it is the one I’ve been commenting on today…both here and on GR!!
The ending wasn’t as BAM as I thought it might be, more like a “realization” sort of ending. But you know what? After the emotional highs and lows from the rest of the book, I was just fine with it ending that way. It was a good solid 4 stars for me hat read fast. 😀
Bev!! I’m so excited you picked the Evelyn book! And hubby’s video conference was cancelled so he would have been able to call me…which he would have done instead of texting me and he would have ruined my fun. The nerve!!!
I’m reading Evelyn!!!
I only gave a couple of updates while reading it but here they are…
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1775133251
I didn’t see a single update from you on GR Amy. Something is wrong with my feed because I didn’t see any of Robin’s last week either.
MichelleS isn’t that the series that Maryse’s sis is reviewing? I’ll have to go look because it rings a bell.
Lol. Maybe you need to be somewhere you can’t take calls.
Fabi…see if that link of mine works.
Yep, hubs is sound asleep here…
That’s a good idea, Bev. 😛
It worked perfectly Amy. Thanks.
Ha Fabi! GR is looking out for you! If you’re on my feed it’s like book vomit…
It just makes me laugh that your husband would read the text and call and be like, explain. Lol.
Bev, that is EXACTLY what he would do! He wouldn’t even text back first, he would just call me and be all, “what the hell?!?” LOL!!
Bev, the texts made me laught but I know it would be a waste of time to text that to my hubby- he would call me on it right away!!
Amy, I read the blurb on that book, sounds like a gut-twister. I guess there’s no down side to signing up for Kindle first??
FLT:
“I’m not saying I bet his cock is massive, but I’m not not saying it, either.”
Beautiful Secret by Christina Lauren. I’m re-reading this before reading Beautiful, because I forgot who Ruby and Pippa are and basically when I started skimming this book, I really didn’t remember too much about it, and before I realized it I was reading chapter 5. 😉
Maryse, glad you’re safe!!
Cheryl…OMG that first line!!! 😛
And you should definitely try out Kindle First!! I get it through Amazon Prime, but I *think* if you sign up for the KF newsletter then you can get the books for 1.99…someone correct me if I’m wrong. BUT getting the Prime membership has all kinds of other benefits so that really makes it worth it. 😉
Bev….Ive been sitting next to the hub for 8 and a half hours of driving…..visiting family….Im pretty sure he’d be on to me if I started texting love notes…seeing as we’re tired and bickering like National Lampoons Vacation at this point.
Glad to know Maryse is not in the zone….but worried for Jean…isn’t she in the Carolinas…be safe and holler at us soon!
Stay safe book beauties!!
Jean is in PA, I think.
Yeh, Jean is in PA, not far from me in NJ.
I didn’t know that Evelyn book is Victoria Dahl! Cool! I LOVED some of her contemporaries.
Cheryl, are you guys in the path or is it staying south of you.
I’m Endora, lol.
https://www.playbuzz.com/cassandralewis10/which-witch-are-you?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=ff&utm_campaign=ff#half
YAY Maryse!! Keep us updated. I’m still thinking about it (a lot!) a day later. 😉
Hopefully the hurricane stays far from all of you out there on the East coast!!
Bev, we are not in the path, at least as of today. 😉
