  • Checkmate: This is War (The Checkmate Duet Book 1) by Kennedy Fox <— LIVE!!! HER BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND IS HER BULLY ALERT! Or at least… that’s what that blurb sounds like and I wanna read it!! “Travis King is the worst kind of a**hole. He taunts me for being a good girl and mocks my high standards. He’s cruel, crass, and has enough confidence to last two lifetimes. And I hate him. It wouldn’t matter so much if he were avoidable. But considering he’s my older brother’s best friend and roommate, I see him more than I’d ever want to…”
  • Her Halloween Treat (Men at Work) by Tiffany Reisz <— TIFFANY REISZ ALERT!!!…heading home to her family’s remote cabin in Oregon poses some challenges in the “available men” department…until she discovers this cabin comes with its own hot handyman!

  • After Loving You by Ashelyn Drake <— LIVE!!! SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE ALERT!…two years later, Mia is stalking Jared’s Facebook page and he’s contacting her every chance he gets. Even though they’re both seeing other people, they can’t seem to say good-bye to the past they shared.
  • Dare Me: A Nocte Hotshot Novella by Courtney Cole <— LIVE!! NOCTE/COURTNEY COLE ALERT!! The author says: “This is a series of Standalone novellas, that are just pure sexiness. The perfect length to take to the pool or for a train-ride home from work. They are not deep, they are not complicated. Sometimes, they are completely stand-alone, sometimes, they will feature a character from one of my novels.

In fact, she’s momentarily lost for words. Not in her entire teaching career has she had a student who looked quite like Stu Cross. A widow at just twenty-eight, love is something Andie hasn’t considered a part of her life for a very long time. Nice list for a Monday!

Tasha J October 3, 2016 at 12:41 PM

Ugh I need some reading time! This list looks great and tomorrow’s releases do too! I need to catch up on the Holly Woods Files series. And Tiffany Snow has a new release, Follow Me, coming tomorrow too! Looks a little different, I love a nerdy, quirky heroine.

Amy October 3, 2016 at 12:47 PM

Happy Monday for us!! :D

Second Verse, The Fireproof Girl, After Loving You…click, click, CLICK!

And…AND! I found some pumpkin spice latte Peeps dipped in white fudge. Did you hear that? Pumpkin. Spice. Latte. Peeps. It’s FALL baby!

Tasha J October 3, 2016 at 12:52 PM

Amy, I love just about pumpkin spice everything, but peeps? I don’t think that even sounds good. Lol Probably would help if I were a peep fan to begin with. My hubby brought home some pumpkin cheesecake something twinkies the other day and I thought those were disgusting. I only took a bite bc I felt bad since it was a nice gesture and all, but I couldn’t finish it.

Amy October 3, 2016 at 1:05 PM

Yeah, if you don’t like Peeps then you wouldn’t like these…it’s crazy but I used to HATE Peeps. Now I go nuts over the different flavor a and the chocolate-dipped ones.

You know I’m going to be hunting down some of those twinkies now, right? ;)

R. Renee October 3, 2016 at 1:21 PM

Amy can you have a few of those peeps delivered to my “All In” blankie fort?? And tequila.

Ela October 3, 2016 at 1:24 PM

PEEPS and PUMPKIN???? Sorry but ewwwwwwwww! I loved pumpkin cheesecake though…YUM!

R…Whatcha readin’ that you’re all secluded and in need of the hard core stuff?

Ela October 3, 2016 at 1:25 PM
Amy October 3, 2016 at 1:33 PM

Done and done, R! But no Manny…poor little guy is being held hostage in my PMS blankie fort and is probably hatin’ life right now. *snort*

Oooooh…thank you, Ela!! And did you see all the pumpkin goodies below it?!? Pumpkin spice Nutra-grain bars, Oreos, cupcakes, Mini-wheats, Cheerios, Starbucks bottled drinks…YUM!!!

R. Renee October 3, 2016 at 1:55 PM

I’m still beta-ing the Full Tilt follow up. I’m about to jump back in and I’m scarrrrrrred! It’s soooooo good! I can’t wait til Maryse get’s her ARC!!

Tessa October 3, 2016 at 2:13 PM

Amy, just a warning. The Twinkies are kind of bleh. I adore all things pumpkin spice too, but those just weren’t done well imo. That said, I want to try the peeps. I don’t like regular peeps, but the flavored ones can be pretty yummy. Oh, also, beware the Target brand pumpkin pie creamer. *shudders* I don’t know what is in it, but eeew.

Maryse October 3, 2016 at 2:13 PM

Chocolate dipped PEEEEEEEPS!!!!!!!!

My favorite!

Ela October 3, 2016 at 2:25 PM
Maryse October 3, 2016 at 2:34 PM

OMG!!!!!! WHITE. FUDGE PUMPKING PEEPS??????!!!!!! I’m going to Publix right. NOW!

Amy October 3, 2016 at 3:16 PM

Tessa…appreciate the warning about the Target creamer, even though I’m totally cracking up over the way you put it. :P

YES ELA!!! That’s them!!

*pulls on Maryse’s arm* That’s them!!! That’s THEM!! Those are the ones I was talking about!! They taste like a Starbucks pumpkin latte in Peep form!!

Tessa October 3, 2016 at 3:27 PM

:D Glad to give the heads up. Alright, this may seem weird, but the weather is making me happy right now. It’s cloudy and grey, not a blue in sight. It has has sprinkled a little and it’s chilly! I absolutely love it!

Maryse October 3, 2016 at 5:19 PM

I can’t WAIT for that weather, Tessa. It’s finally just starting to get darker earlier, and it’s storming as we speak. I can’t wait to smell wood burning stoves and feel that crips, brisk air!!!! :D

Tessa October 3, 2016 at 5:22 PM

*squee* Yes! And the first real rain. That always says holiday season to me.

Amy October 3, 2016 at 7:17 PM

No, Tessa…that’s not weird at ALL. Gloomy and rainy weather does not depress me or make me feel blah in any way…it actually has the opposite effect on me. I absolutely LOVE overcast and rainy days!

Fall is definitely my favorite season of the year. :D

bev October 3, 2016 at 7:31 PM

Amy, I am the same. I start to feel happy, lol. Though doesn’t mean the weather doesn’t sometimes make me want to batten the hatches and spend the day just reading or watching shows. Actually, I feel less guilty if it’s a real cold stormy day.

Grey October 3, 2016 at 7:43 PM

Have you heard that Pumpkin Spice Latte parody on Youtube… *giggle* it’s horrible… *snort*

Tiffany Reisz! So in…and Christina Lauren… Check please!

bev October 3, 2016 at 7:48 PM

I know we, some of us are going to Buddy Read TBH this month, we need to pick a day. Please not this week though.
But does anyone want to read Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil with me? Comes out on the 11th.
And let’s actually br them, lol. Lately the buddy reads have been sad. It seems like everyone is doing them at different times and NO ONE COMMENTS.
Lately it’s been…

Maryse, “I’m reading a book.”
Everyone, “I will too! Whoot Whoot.”
Maryse, “Buddy Read!”
Fabi, “Actually I’ll start it Tuesday of next week.”
Amy,”I’ll bring the martinis and Manny. ”
R,”I’ll have two, Amy”
*crickets crickets crickets*
An hour later.
Tess, “Finished. Can’t wait to hear what you all think.”

Then nothing. Nothing for 5 days.

Maryse post review.

Tessa,”I agree.”
Amy,”Yes, me too. Punched me in the ovaries. Jean read it.
bev,”Don’t do it Jean.”
Fabi,” I was so excited to read this but now I see the state of Amy’s ovaries.”
R, “Wait. I won’t read it if one of my 4 didn’t write it. Unless Jean likes it too.”
Cheryl thinking * I just read whatever I want to read whenever I want to read it*

Tasha J October 3, 2016 at 8:03 PM

Oh my gosh now I have to read Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil, Bev, great find!! I’ve never buddy read, all my dialogue stays in my head most of the time but I literally lol’ day your description of previous attempts!

Leslie M October 3, 2016 at 8:09 PM

Bev, I am peeing laughing here. You kill me!! I’m cool with prolonging Bronze Horseman buddy read if everyone else is. Truth be told, I’m freaking petrified of reading it. *cowers in corner like book wimp that I am*

I just started Paper Princess, wicked excited for this series! *jumps up and down with new book glee*

bev October 3, 2016 at 8:23 PM

Tasha, I believe Jan first brought it to my attention. Her first adult book and looks good.

LeslieM, we still have to tackle it this month. Just not this week. Maybe the 3rd week? ;)

R. Renee October 3, 2016 at 8:29 PM

Omg bev. I just made a scene at the bowling alley.

Fabi October 3, 2016 at 8:46 PM

damnit bev…Amy, oh Aaaamy. Do you still have some of those Depends you picked up for me?

Tessa October 3, 2016 at 9:46 PM

ROFL Bev, that’s awesome. I can’t help the quiet. I’m usually ahead and don’t want to spoil anything. BHM, just tell me when.

Jan October 3, 2016 at 11:29 PM

I read Beautiful today and really enjoyed it. It rolled into my kindle this morning and I jumped right in. (It’s already Tuesday arvo here in Australia). It’s rotten weather outside here, rain and wind, so good for staying in to read. I didn’t intend to read the whole book today, but it’s not very long, and there you are. Suddenly I was finished.

Finally! A sequel I’ve been hanging out for that I really liked. I four and a half starred it. (I’m pretty stingy with my five stars – I just save that for a few very fav reads.)

Jensen and Pippa are very sweet together. The scene at the start on the plane has some LOL moments. Pippa is a bit goofy but nice, kind of like Hanna from Beautiful Player is. The road trip idea works quite well for the story arc. And we also get to revisit our old favs from previous books, which is nice. Sadly, this is the final book in this series, but I look forward to what these talented ladies will write next.

Melinda October 4, 2016 at 6:41 AM

Hey an Aussie here too and what in the heck are peeps. Are they like biscuits. Never heard of them.

I’m reading playboy pilot started so good. Then half way starting to drag.
I also read to love Jason thorn. Loved it. Really well written. Just a great love story.

Tessa October 4, 2016 at 10:43 AM

Peeps are marshmallows in usually the shape of a chick, covered in colored sugar.

bev October 4, 2016 at 1:15 PM

And should only be released at Easter but no. Now every holiday has peeps.

Amy October 4, 2016 at 1:49 PM

Amy October 4, 2016 at 1:51 PM

*slides pack of Depends to Fabi*

We oughta buy them by the case seeing as how most of us around here aren’t spring chickens anymore. :P

R. Renee October 4, 2016 at 2:07 PM

*climbs out of blankie fort, shields eyes from sun, passes empty liquor bottles back to Amy*

Maryse October 4, 2016 at 2:14 PM

*hands R some aspirin and a huge glass of water*. No Tylenol with alcohol!!

Maryse October 4, 2016 at 2:14 PM

I prefer stale peeps. I like ‘em kind of hard and chewy. *shrugs*

Maryse October 4, 2016 at 2:17 PM

LOL bev!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes we DO post for days together. Not always crickets. ;) When it’s REALLY intense, ya know? Then we lose it, on here, together. Sometimes though… the books is just… *sigh* and then… crickets.

P.S. Now I will look up your buddy-read request. very curious indeed!!! :P

R. Renee October 4, 2016 at 2:17 PM

Thanks Maryse. And thanks for that book title idea! “I Like ‘Em Kind of Hard and Chewy” will be the next big thing!!

Ela October 4, 2016 at 2:20 PM

*mutters under breath…what a weird sick bunch….guess the lone Fae that is I must seek weirdoes elsewhere*

Ela October 4, 2016 at 2:21 PM
Ela October 4, 2016 at 2:27 PM
Ela October 4, 2016 at 2:28 PM
Ela October 4, 2016 at 2:28 PM
Tessa October 4, 2016 at 5:22 PM
Cheryl October 4, 2016 at 7:59 PM

First, OMG Bev, you crack me up.–>”I just read whatever I want to read whenever I want to read it” I think I’m flattered?! Have to check out the book you want to BR.

Peeps, suck. Ooey gooey marshmallow; YUCK!!!

Second Verse-one click; Checkmate and The Fireproof girl sounds great, BUT both are book #1. :(

Fabi October 4, 2016 at 8:04 PM

Cheryl, I feel the same hesitation. Finding a stand alone book nowadays is like finding a needle in a haystack. It seems like the best I can hope for is a series that has complete stories in each book. Since authors are not up front about their cliffhanger (non) endings, it always feels like a crap shoot.

Amy October 4, 2016 at 8:39 PM

Okay, I have a candy confession as well…

I heat up stale gummy candy in the microwave to soften it.

bev October 4, 2016 at 8:47 PM

Not vodka?

Amy October 4, 2016 at 9:16 PM

Oh, vodka works as well. ;) Unfortunately RL requires me to be sober at times. *sigh*
