HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY!!! This is the last “big” one of the month, and you can tell we’re heading into our holiday season with all the sweet Christmas romances that just went live. PLUS!!!!! If you missed yesterday’s post, this was a great surprise release day of our absolute favorites that released their books one day early. You’ll see what I mean 😉 ➜ Nine Monday Early Bird Book Releases
<— But what I’m especially excited about is that one to the left. The conclusion to the “duet” that I just read and LOVED, is live today!!! I 4.5 starred both, and now you can devour ’em without having to deal with a wait over a cliffhanger. 😉 Two couple’s stories, but that intertwine dramatically and MUST be read in order to appreciate the awesomeness. Some scary stuff, plenty of steam, and of course, swoon-worthy!!! If you’re in the mood for that infuriatingly bossy alpha-male done right? These are for you!!! In fact, here are my reviews of ’em both: Book Review – Retrieval by Aly Martinez AND Book Review – Transfer (The Retrieval Duet Book 2) by Aly Martinez
Wanna know what else I’m excited about? Tee hee!!! 😉 The Rule Book (it’s in the bargains section, but it sounds right up my romance alley, ’cause this is an office romance! She’s trying HARD not to crush on her broody, rich boss… and she’s breaking all of her own rules. It sounds steamy AND hilarious), The Vanishing Year (psych-thriller where she’s living the perfect life, but she’s also using a fake name to keep herself safe), Making the Play (sports star romance, and while the cover doesn’t say much for me, the blurb sure did! She’s a single mom, and he’s her son’s football star hero. And they accidentally meet), His Last Name (this one sounds like it’s going to be like those infuriating and addicting night time “soaps”. Rich, maybe conniving? women that are the wives of famous sports stars), Sparking the Fire (she’s a famous actress trying to get back in good graces, and he’s a firefighter that will be helping her with her next role)… BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!!! I just added this to my mini-blurb jolt list: Hustle (OMG THAT BLURB!!! Football star and a girl trying to escape rumors and be low profile… but with him that’s hard. AND!!!! One of our fellow readers said it was “Angsty as f**kkk” <— OOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!)

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

He’s got an on and off again girlfriend always on the sidelines and a flood of girls willing to take over that position. And his popularity makes it hard to keep a low profile, something she needs to do if she doesn’t want to be pulled back into the drama of her past.“
Celine: Ratula?
Ratula: Read it babe. Angsty as f**kkk
Celine: Eek! Okay, clicking it 😉
Maryse: Oh wow!!! Okay I’m one-clicking it too now. LOL!!!!
Maryse: Annnnnnnd I ALREADY one-clicked it. 😉 LOL! Bringing it to the top of my Kindle app right now!

Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh is currently free. It is the first book in the series. I read the second book in the series in a day so I was excited to pick this up.
Thank you, ladies! And Thank you, Kathy P. I am getting the free book.
Outsider by Olivia Cunning. MINE MINE MINE! Envision if you will those irritating as f*ck seagulls from Finding Nemo, that’s me…
Wanna know what else I’m uber stoked about. Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas has been officially listed as “completed!” YAY! She’s releasing on October 21st… I’m thinking a sick day is going to be in order! This one has been on my radar for MONTHS!!!
Anyway, today was an awful day and I’m going to hang it up early. Seems like yesterday was a real explosion of early gifts and everyone is still soaking in that list… do I need send out a search party?!?
I LOVE those seagulls, Grey!!! LOL!
I’m here!!! 😀 But yes, I suspect yesterday’s releases have everyone tied to their e-readers. LOL!
Maryse, so… what has your attention the most right now??
Lol I got caught up in a series. The writing is really good and the story is kind of different which is a godsend. Except that part where it begins like mine did.
Oh yay!! I have 4 already that I have one-clicked.
The Goal (which I’m into right now), and that scary looking one (Pretty Little Dolls or something? I bought that one too. And The Hustle, and “The Rule Book”.
I can’t wait to see what you think of the Goal. The opinions are all over the place. 😀
Thank you Kathy! I’ve been wanting that one for a long time.
Flowers from the Storm is 1.99 right now. Who hasn’t read it?
I haven’t!!!! 😀
Oh oh.
*ducks incoming bev peanuts*
I did! I did! When I was sixteen. 😀
Lol. Tessa having a Hermione moment there.
Maryse, I think it is wonderfully written. The way she wrote the hero is amazing. However it isn’t for everyone, though many HR readers love it. I think I’ve thrown peanuts at you before, just maybe not as enthusiastically. But, you know, if you wanted to read it when the rest of us finally tackle The Bronze Horseman. …..
I’m looking forward to Beautiful 😀
Oh good idea bev!!!
When will you be reading The Bronze Horseman???
I need to read that series, Jan…
Oh Maryse, you have to read them! As with any series, some are better than others. Beautiful Stranger and Beautiful Player are my favs. Pretty saucy!! But great characters and great relationship building. The new one coming out next week is going to be the final one 🙁 It’s about Jensen, hot brother of the gorgeous Hanna from Beautiful Player. OMG. Hanna and Will. It’s all coming back to me! Can’t wait for Jensen’s story. Aaah. Look out. I’m going to start squeeing. Better get me a lemon drop martini, stat!
Jan, so with you! Love the Beautiful series! Will & Hanna are my faves although there are no bad couples here!! Have you gotten the first couple of chapters yet thru their email newsletter??? Because awww the gang!!!
I love the Beautiful series too. I’m not quite caught up with it. I can’t believe the last book is coming out.
I have a few from that series unread. Need to get to them. I don’t want to read the first one though. Just doesn’t appeal to me.
Maryse, sometime in October. It would be awesome, but promise I won’t give you a hard time if you don’t care for it, like with JR, lol.
I was commenting on Monday’s post yesterday because I forgot there was a Tuesday release list here. Being wrapped up in Retrieval will do that to ya!
I saw “angsty as f**kkk” and CLICK! Except I apparently bought it back in March. *shrugs* Guess it looked good back then, too. 😉
I’m starting Pretty Stolen Dolls today and going in blind…no reviews and no spoilers. Fingers crossed!
By the way, F*ck Love is .99 right now. It’s a good “light” Tarryn Fisher read. 😉
The first three books in Meghan March’s series beneath are bundled and on sale for .99. I had the first two but not the 3rd so picked it up.
Act Like It by Lucy Parker is .99, right now. I really enjoyed this book. Not an angsty one like I know a lot of you like. But if in the mood for a charming CR with a likable and confident heroine and grumpy hero with a dash of the London theater then this is for you.
Thanks Grey. I just went on their website (Christina Lauren – 2 authors who write together) and read the first two chapters of Beautiful. I’m hooked!! Can’t wait for the full book to come out next week!
Bev, I haven’t liked all of the Beautiful books. The novellas were nothing special (I’m not a novella fan anyway), and I didn’t like the first book (Beautiful Bastard) much – the characters weren’t as well developed and it just wasn’t as well written IMO. But the writers have really lifted their game and their writing really improved after that first one.
So I read Masked in Music by Ginger Voight and it was soooo good.
5 stars for me. Was not expecting the ending. Not really a cliff hanger but there will be a book 2 in December. Can’t wait!!
I’m still reading Retrieval and then plan to jump right in reading Transfer. I clicked on Hustle, but already had bought it. Can’t remember all the angst.
Is Leo James and his “crew” in Retrieval from another one of Aly Martinez’s books?
Traci I LOVE Ginger Voight!!! SHE TOTALLY goes there in angst!!!!!
Good question Cheryl… I can’t remember if it has anything to do with her first series?
Jan that is so good to know! I’ve one clicked a few from that series a while ago, so maybe I can indulge…
bev! I wanted that one. 0.99 cents is perfect for me to one-click it!
Annnnnnnd I just one clicked it. YAY!! Thank you! 😀
Amy that one’s pretty great. I have other favorite of hers, but it was plenty “Tarryn Fisher-light” as you said.
In addition to Punk 57, and Beautiful. I just found that on October 17th… Twisted Palace by Erin Watt is gonna be live. Looking like October is gonna be great reading!
I’ve had F*ck Love on my TBR for awhile. It def does not sound “light” …..*gives side eye to Maryse & Amy*
Amy, will it make me bawl me eyes out?? Your love of rip your heart out books scares me to death.
I just finished Karina Halle’s Racing the Sun. LOVED IT! 4.5**** It was perfect slow burn, low angst (which usually bore me) story with hot, broody & grumpy Italian H. Even his name made me swoon. Signor Desiderio Larossa aka Derio.
I’m trying to focus on “oldies” from my TBR….no idea what to read next.
@ Grey – October IS going to be a good one. I’m gonna buddy read Bronze Horseman series *bites nails in nervous angst* AND the Royals series. Do you know if Twisted Palace is last book? I’ve been holding off starting because of the major cliffy.
I hear Twisted Palace is the last… But I don’t know if that’s the final word… You know how these things go sometimes, but it was listed as a trilogy…
The Royals series may be the first set of books I love to hate. They drove me nuts, everything I don’t like in books and yet, I can’t stop reading them! Guilty pleasure at its finest!
RUSH Leslie M!!! RUSH!! What the heck??!! Why is that still in your TBR?
@ R. – Rush is still in my TBR because recs from you and Amy are dangerous, emotional, tear jerkers (ok, how weird…auto correct changed “tear jerkers” to “year learners”… what?!?) that I’m petrified of reading without having a therapist on standby!!!
How the heck I’m EVER going to get thru Bronze Horseman is beyond me!!!
Leslie!! I wouldn’t rec a book to you like that!! This book has angst, and not even too much if that! It won’t break you! I promise!
FLT:
Describe the perfect date.
Neighbors by Stylo Fantome
Uh, I don’t know how I feel about it. It’s got a lot of heart, a LOT of steamy times, yet it kind of is, but I’m not sure love triangle, maybe? lol I know that doesn’t make sense, but it’s because both guys are giving off weird signals. Also she’s clueless too, but seriously, it’s because some really odd signals. I am liking it, but seriously am so confused.
Which Rush?
Leslie: “recs from you and Amy are dangerous, emotional, tear jerkers…I’m petrified of reading without having a therapist on standby!!!”
hahahahaaaaa
Yes, I save up my money all year so I can afford to read one of their recs. $1.99 eBook + $1999.99 therapist
Tessa, Emma Scott’s. Maybe it’s me, but I don’t remember it being a big tear jerker. It was the book that made me fall in love with ES.
Fabi! I know better than to rec a heartbreaker to you!!
I haven’t read Rush either… Nor Bronze Horseman…
FLT…

Right R? You KNOW you’d have to come over and ply me with alcohol and a shoulder to cry on.

“He had chosen the bar because of its name: The Bookstore.”
Not a Game by C. Cardeno
loving it!
Oh wow. I was just thinking how quiet it has been around here and how no one is chatting (no notifications in my inbox)…then I come here and realize I never checked the box for followup comments. *giggle*
Leslie, I promise F*ck Love won’t rip your heart out. It isn’t nearly as angsty as The Opportunist, and it isn’t dark and twisty like Mud Vein or Marrow. That’s why we say it’s “light” for Tarryn Fisher. 😉 It may rile you up a bit, but no ugly crying and no tummy-eating-itself feelings!
Agreed with Amy. It’s still pure Tarryn Fisher (she goes there when it comes to her kind of love stories) but it’s easier on you. 😉
I’d do that anyway Fabi!
OMG Fabi…I am cracking up over your therapist comment. LOL!!!
And back to Leslie…you need to read RUSH!!!! Seriously, that book was beautiful. Again, no ripping your heart out and no ugly crying…just a beautiful story with just the right amount of emotional tension. 😀

“Daddy always told us to be careful.” ~ Pretty Stolen Dolls by Ker Dukey
Um, Maryse? Didn’t you click this one? Yeah, you gotta read it. 😉 I can’t say it’s a 5 star (who knows, maybe that will change?) but I am flying through it right now and loving it!
I’m reading 3 books at the same time, but I’ll FLT the one that someone on here might appreciate…
“Anna was a good wife, mostly.”
R ? Title? Author? Did you forget a few parts?
Oh, I bet that’s Carnage isn’t it?
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!
*SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!*
*thunk*
Amy, that’s a creepy first line. I’m hearing that horror film music playing in the background as I read it.
Oh hells no!! Carnage? Are you talking to me? You can’t be.
I skipped the title and author on purpose, waiting for Amy’s reaction lol. It’s Hausfrau by Jill Alexander Essbaum.
NO Fabi…we will NOT speak of that book. Carnage is in the 7 circles of Hell where it belongs.
Okay, that wasn’t very nice of me. But still…
R is reading Hausfrau!!! I’ve been dying for someone, ANYONE to read it so I can see their reaction. Maybe it will just be “meh” on her part, but that book effed me up BIG TIME.
oh yeah! I saw that she’d started that one Amy and I was excited for you. It’s always special when someone finally takes the plunge and reads a book we’ve been raving about for a while.
I’m going to Houston this weekend so I’ll have hours of riding time in the car to read! The reviews are divided. The people who don’t like it don’t because of the plot, kind of like Author Anonymous, but I think knowing that going in, I can read it for what it is. And the writing so far is awesome.
The part where she is crying and begging to make it all stop…OMG I was sobbing.
She is a hot freaking mess of an antiheroine, but dammit I just wanted everything to work out and for her to be okay.
Amy rec’d it and I found an autographed hardcover online for $10! I didn’t even know it was signed until I got it in the mail!
Exactly, R. Most negative reviews were because she was an adulteress. But I loved the uniqueness of the time jumps and how perfectly they related with and flowed around each other. I can’t think of any other way to describe it.
Holy moly, you better update here or on GR because I am going to be stalking your a$$. *snort*
Okay… I just moved Hausfraus up in my Kindle app to be one of the first ones so I don’t forget. I should go in, shouldn’t I?
I will!! 🙂
lol Btw, the Carnage remark is proof that not all tear jerkers are good. Honestly, I didn’t even cry at the end. *ducks*
Amy, keep us updated on Pretty Little Dolls. I have 10 KU books checked out so I haven’t gotten it yet.
Exactly! And I only like tear jerkers with an HEA. Mostly anyway! I didn’t cry either. But I did throw my phone and yelled a few expletives before stalking Maryse on twitter for a follow up to fix me.
That right there is my problem. I have to have an HEA if I’m going to consider a book to be a five star read. Books like The Fault in our Stars (which I’ve never read) and It Ends With Us (which I haven’t read either) and Rainfall (which I did read)…they don’t work for me. Other books which are super angsty and maybe even make me cry, I can read every so often as long as there’s an eventual HEA. They’ll never be my preferred reading material, but I can handle them sporadically.
Then there are the “dark” books, which some people lump in with the “emotional” books. I’ve read and loved many of these. The dark books have a different kind of emotion which I can handle better than the “emotional” emotion.
OK…yeah, I’ve now confused myself. Nevermind me.
The “HEA” in It Ends With Us depends on the reader! It’s kind of fascinating which is the ONLY reason I’d recommend it to someone who wouldn’t usually read that kind of thing. But, only if that person is going in totally blind. If not, it’s still a good book, but loses the wow factor that it has blind.
I’ve only liked a few non HEA books, but they were extremely well done.
WE WILL NOT SPEAK OF THAT BOOK THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED AND SOMEONE REC’D I READ THE SEQUEL AND ALL WILL BE WELL WITH THE WORLD….oh yeah that was Paula W that recommended it!!!!!! NOPE NEVER NADA ZIP ZILCH….THEY CAN ALL DIE AS FAR AS I CARE!!!!!!!!
NOW I GOT THINKING ABOUT ANOTHER SERIES THE PISSED ME THE ^%$& OFF…..THE BOOK BOYFRIEND SERIES! LOVED THE FIRST BOOK AND THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF THE GODS ETC ETC, BOOK 2 WAS A FILLER FOR ME BUT 3????????? I DIDN’T EVEN BOTHER WITH IT AFTER I FOUND OUT WHAT HAPPENED….WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE PLOT FROM BOOK 1 THEN????
HAHAHAHAHA you slay me <3
NO FABI!!!!!!!!!!! I totally get what you’re saying emotional emotion vs. emotional cry no happiness!!!!!!!!!!
I still don’t get why you didn’t love the Butterfly Garden as much as I did…*rolls eyes* just kidding…..*ducks* don’t hurt me for bringing it back up again!
I did like a few sad books though, I guess it depends how we view that ending to be….???? Like Transcendence by Shay Savage – I balled my eyes out but it was a HEA in my book. And then that one book with the sick girl….Darn I forget the title….she brought back the boy back to “life”, to live life even though she was dying….
The “HEA” in It Ends With Us depends on the reader! <=== That's Rainfall too!!!!
Oh Ela…you had to go there? Well, I guess if anyone does, you have the right to do so. If not for you, I would have burned my Kindle at the stake over that one. *hugs for getting me through it*
LMAO FABI!!!!!!!!!! Hugs right back at ya!
Um…
*slowly raises hand*
HEA or no HEA, I just need feels.
Except Carnage. Nope. That’s a no-go.
Highly recommended!
The Haunted Vagina
by Carlton Mellick III
AMY!!!!!!!!!! THAT BOOKS SHALL NOT BE NAMED….NOW I’M GONNA GO TROLLING THROUGH REVIEWS AND LOWER THEM….
Is Carnage anything like The Tied Man or Life of Anna? Those types I can handle.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT BOOK IS NOT DARK LIKE THOSE BOOKS ARE…YOU KNOW EMOTION DARK BUT CAN SURVIVE… THIS BOOK IS PURE EVIL NO DARKNESS JUST VERY VERY VERY STUPID H AND h! AND THE ENDING IS EVEN WORSE THAN THEY ARE!
So knowing my tastes and preferences, should I stay away from the Book Boyfriend series?
*opens Kindle library*
Aw crap, I have books one and two. 😕
And now you HAVE to name the book that shall not be named ’cause I am crazy curious right now…
Ela, I had to go to Amazon to see if you were talking about a real book.
OMG!!! It’s not only real, but there are an amazing number of men who reviewed it. *shakes head in wonder at men’s reading tastes*
Amy, I think Ela is upset about the C……ge book.
Oh wait, I think you named it as I was typing my comment. *snicker*
Fabi…Carnage is nothing like TTM. It was too much drama and angst, even for me. That should tell you something. 😐 I was worn out emotionally by, like, halfway through. And not in a good way.
Yep, I’m pretty sure that’s the one she was talking about, Fabi. 😉
And there you go Amy naming that damn thing!
Honestly, I love book 1 of Book Boyfriend and the whole Eros concept, I even loved book 2 although looking back I may have a different opinion but when I found out what happens in 3…I WAS NOT A FAN AT ALL! FIRST I WAS ROOTING FOR ONE GUY AND 2. THE EROS CONCEPT BOOK 1 STARTED WITH WAS LOST….AND that’s all I’ll say……
Fabi! I just read an amazing review of that Vagina book that makes me wanna read it *gasp*
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/813459709?book_show_action=true&from_review_page=1
hahaha Ela. I only read about half of that but — too funny.
Sorry Amy, but I’m going to have to change my FLT…but I PROMISE to read Hausfrau next!
FLT: “Theo, dear. He wants you.” All In, Full Tilt book 2 by Emma Scott. SQUEE!!!
Omg did you get an ARC?
The beta version. The ARCs aren’t ready yet.
It’s okay, R…squirrelling to that one is forgivable. 😉
It’s unavoidable! Life is officially on hold.
oh my geeaaawd, we are losing R for the foreseeable future
Wait, wtf… I was so confused for a minute. Ela’s shouting and I have no idea what book she’s talking about because I have a metric sh*t ton of book boyfriends… but is there like a legit book 0 The Book Boyfriend? what? huh? gah, I’m quite certain it’s 5pm here in NY….
haha! No I have to cry to someone!! I want to post every single line but I can’t because everything is a Full Tilt spoiler! That’s the saddest part! LOL
Hey guys! Just started Retrieval. Finished The Goal and ended up loving it even though the h initially annoyed me! So sad it’s the end of the series!
Cheryl, Leo James was in Among the Echoes (spinoff from Wrecked and Ruined series), but I think he was also a part of the On the Ropes series! Both great series if you haven’t read them yet!
Fabi, don’t read the C book. You wouldn’t like it anyway. Me, my problem was I HATED both the h and the H, but mostly the h. I can’t get past a book where I hate the main character and never feel empathy.
Congrats R! 😀
Carnage and I didn’t get along so well either…
Yeah, I agree Fabi, you wouldn’t like it, but it would sure be fun to read your review. I’m thinking Butterfly Garden on steroids! The h was a piece of work.
Thanks Tessa! I was wondering how it would stand up to Full Tilt and it does not disappoint. And I’m not just saying that as her obsessive biased stalker 🙂 It really is awesome.
Thanks for the feedback Tessa and R. I wouldn’t be able to get through a book where I didn’t like the h. Not without Ela anyways. *snicker*
“her obsessive biased stalker ” hahahaha Authors are much more fun to crush on than movie stars IMHO I’m about to listen in on a chat with Santino Hassell. I’ve been counting down the minutes all day.
I think I have the whole Carnage series downloaded….. is it really that bad? I have Butterfly Garden too but haven’t read it yet either.
Retrieval……. feels like this book has Amy’s name all over it! It’s gonna hurt bad I think.
Jean it really sucked me in. And some people LOVE it. I’m pretty sure Maryse did which is why I read it ***thanks a lot, BTW ;)***
But, the h is really hard to like. And IMO, that can’t be overlooked. At some point I think the book jumps the shark so to speak and I wish I would have listened to my gut and stopped there, but I was invested so I continued. It’s an emotional ride, and you might enjoy reading it just to find out what everybody is so upset about!
The Haunted Vagina???? What the actual hey? Is that for real?? *shakes head sadly, acknowledging the craziness of the world*
Yeah ladies, I love a HEA too, and can’t cope with too much angst. That’s why I’ve avoided quite a few of the books recs on here. But still, one of my fav reads in the last year was Freya North’s The Turning Point. Wonderful love story about an unlikely older couple, but also a total sobfest. I was wrecked after this book, but so moved by it and totally loved it. Most beautiful ending of a book ever…… Please, somebody else read this book so I can share with you!!!
My FLT?
“In the Sixth Precinct, the inexorable current of the river that flowed through Death slowed almost to a stop.”
Goldenhand by Garth Nix. Brand new shiny sequel to my beloved Sabriel, Lirael series, fabulous YA fantasies. (Lirael is on my list of fav books ever…..)
First, Leslie I agree you have to read Rush and I promise it won’t devastate you. Also, read the novella Endless Possibilities.
Jean, thanks I kinda figured that character had to be from another book. Haven’t read that series, but do have it on my tbr.
R. which book are you talking about to Jean? Retrieval?
The one that starts with a “C” and rhymes with “arnage.” Sorry, Ela will lynch me if I speak it aloud (or in writing)!
You know you’ve read an author a lot when you are reading her book and get to a specific spot, stuff starts happening, and , even though there is no actual reason, your stomach starts knotting up like something horrible is gonna happen.
Yeah, I’m at that spot in the book.
LOL Tessa that’s Taylor Jenkins Reid for me. I make it halfway though the title and BAM!!
I also have to have a HEA. Doesn’t really matter how I get there, a dark read, comedy, suspense, gut-wrenching, just give me the happy ending!! :>
FLT:
“Okay, Luke,” Clare breathed. Transfer by Aly Martinez.
R. had me a little worried that you were talking about the Retrieval series. I guess because I thought it started off with my gut all twisted in knots and then it kinda flattened out. It’s still good, but lost some of it’s impact about half-way thru.
Neighbors is book one in a series-anyone know how many books it is going to be and is it the same story throughout or interconnected standalones??
Alright, I just posted my rant on GR but I’m saying it here as well…
Pretty Stolen Dolls is the first of two books and ends on a CH and I am P!SSED!!!!
I am NOT reading the second one because I am so sick of authors doing this. What is the big freaking deal in letting us know ahead of time that it will not be wrapped up in one book? Now all they have done is made me not want to buy the second one…and if I was a REAL b!tch I would go and get my money back right now even though I’ve read it. GAH! I don’t read so I can feel this sort of frustration and irritation dammit!!!
*jumps off soapbox and kicks it across the floor*
Er… oh.
Just saw Amy’s reaction and THAT was my “tonight” read.
*snort*
In case you didn’t guess already…
I’m taking back my rec!!!
Amy, I totally agree. Nothing pisses me off more than to get to the end of a book and realize there will be a book 2 or even 3. Should be a no brainer to have that in the blurb. I like to think I am seeing more mention of this is a standalone or book 1 or ends in a cliffhanger in blurbs now because of our rants here on Maryse’s blog!! 🙂
Saying it now. This is book one of more.
I’m not done, but this is definitely ending on a CH. OMG, did the ball drop. Like, I knew a portion, figured it out, but OMG, the delivery and the dull details. CRAP! GUT TOMMY WRENCH WORTHY!
Erm, not dull, full. Thank you, autocorrect.
Hahahah Tessa !I love books with dull details!
*sits down on the soap box*
*clears throat*
Amy, you kno….ah forget it.
*stands up and walks away*
*pulls soapbox near*
*unpacks bag of glasses, mixer and vodka*
*mixes a chocolate martini*
*drinks martini and hands Amy bottle of Vodka*
Did you see my rant about King on GR way back when? Not only do I refuse to read the rest of the series, I refuse to read anything else by that author.
So…I hear you sister, I hear you!
Ooooh is that the one with the editing? I wonder if it’s been fixed? I’d have to pass if not. That drives me insane.
I’ll take a martini, please.
Yup, that’s the one. It hit all my buttons. Editing, non-hea, cliffhanger, etc.
ummmm, not sure I can get that bottle back from Amy in the mood she’s in 😉
Yeah an unexpected ch is pretty low. It’s OK if we know what we’re getting into and choose to do so, but it’s unfair for authors to pull what seems like a dirty trick to make you buy more books. That *may* not be the intention, but it certainly makes readers out there pretty angry!
Here, Amy, Fabi, Renee….. have a marine on the house.
Oh super LOL. the joys of autocorrect. that was supposed to be a MARTINI on the house. Not sure what a marine on the house is like. (Has potential, tho 🙂
Forget the martini! I’ll take one marine, please.
😀
Amy already has her Marine. 🙂
Super. She can keep the vodka and I’ll take two marines.
Cool! Then you can write an MFM.
I’m leaving that one to you!
*snort* oh my, I see Thursday night as made the girls *thirsty*…
has…not as, wtf…
I think you’d better leave Amy’s Marine to her since she has legal papers claiming him. *snicker*
*hugs Amy* Sorry. I went through wtf-ness. It should have given some warning about a series. I adore books with CH, but it should give some heads up that it’s not a full story.
I’ll take a marine… Pretty lips please.
*waves to Grey* Hiii
*whispers to R* Grey smelled our drinks from across the country. :-0
BTW, that end. That ending. It was perfect. It’s definitely not done. lol AND! I want to stomp on both of the men’s favorite part. Big time. UGH. Remember when I said my FLT, oh, it’s good. I’m confused. Not much angst. Love triangle-ish. THen it started to be more angst, but that end. STUPID PEOPLE! Now, to wait for number two.
Oh and if you can handle CH, huge recommendation to read Neighbors, even if it does feature people who are worthy of being strangled.
I love crazy endings, Tessa. Maybe THIS one will be my next…
*calls out to a retreating bev* Too soon, my friend!!! 😛
*leans head on Fabi’s shoulder*
You’re the bestest. Bestest ever.
*looks at R and wraps arms around vodka bottle*
MY vodka!!! Let me have a few more gulps and I’ll share it though.
Whoa! Wait a minute…did I adopt a Marine and not know it?? Ooooh, hubby is gonna be maaaaaad. *giggle*
Oh lord, Jan and Grey’s autocorrects are getting drunk along with us!!
Thanks Tessa. *snuggles into Tessa* I love how y’all just KNOW and GET IT.
Wait, Mr. Amy is Army right?
Yep, he is! But they’re called soldiers. 😉 And they don’t play well with Marines. *eyeroll*
By the way, I think it’s the cutest thing when you call him Mr. Amy. LOL!!!
*throws hands up*. One martini, ONE is all I had. Sheesh – no more drinking for me.
My apologies Amy. NO Marines for you!!!
*snorts*
Aw Fabi, here…have some hot tea before bed.
*pours vodka into Fabi’s tea*
😛
Hey guys, I found us some deals!
White Trash Beautiful by Teresa Mummert, Beautiful Boss by Christina Lauren, Who I Am With You by Melody Anne, and All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven are all 1.99.
Tabula Rasa by Kitty Thomas is .99, and Infinity by Shanora Williams is FREE.
YAY Amy!! Okay I’m adding them to today’s post. 😀
Ahem…Amy, I know I’m short and probably should have stood on the soapbox while I agreed with you about CH and book 2″s, but hey just give me the vodka!!
*thought I sent this last night, probably don’t want to start my day with vodka…but I’ll hold onto it for later* 😉

Just add tomato juice Cheryl and it’s totally acceptable.
I didn’t do a FLT yesterday. I’m reading two books very very slowly, like a couple pages a day. Work and a cold, what can you do? Lol. One is The Goal which many of you read, will be or are reading, so I will go with the second.
“The second time I saw my dead aunt Rosaria, she was dancing.”–Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova
Amy, mine stopped sending email notification too. Then I’d get them a day or more later. They’d come in batches or one and two at a time out of order. You think the conversation on her can be odd and random try reading them that way.
Like if I subscribed to this one in a day I’d probably get an email with R randomly saying she wants two marines. Then few hours later Fabi would be getting drunk on a box.
I would have sworn you liked the “C” book Maryse! Dangit! I read ot for nothing lol!!
Yes read Hausfrau!
Cheryl, R says we’re having bloody mary’s so…we’re having bloody mary’s!!!! 😀
Okay, I know I shouldn’t use apostrophes there but without the apostrophe “marys” looked too much like “Maryse” and…yeah, I wasn’t gonna do that. *snicker*
Maryse…don’t write off PSD just because of my rant. It WAS pretty good (not a 5 star for me but still worth reading) but I was just so irritated that it wasn’t made clear how it is the first of two books until the end of the actual book. And this sort of story…well, I just can’t see it being drawn out over two books. *shrug* But that’s just ME.
Hausfrau…”I should go in, shouldn’t I?” <—— YES!!!! A HUNDRED TIMES YESSSSSSSS!!!!! 😀 But I will have a crow martini waiting for me to down in case it doesn't work for you. *snort*
Alright, it’s late at the end of the month. Best book of Sept, go!
These are my contenders:
Magic Binds (Kate Daniels, #9) by Ilona Andrews
Neighbors (A Twin Estates Novel Book 1) by Stylo Fantome
Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5) by Sarah J Maas
Arcana Rising (The Arcana Chronicles, #4) by Kresley Cole
uh uh uh, no cheating. You have to pick ONE. Unless it’s a deadheat tie, it’s gotta be one.
But, ok, cause you did say “contenders”
