My dog woke me up at 3 something. So I’m awake waiting for alarm and she is hogging the bed and snoring.
But new book with cute cover came in that I forgot about. Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett. It’s from my after Christmas shopping of preorders. I love doing it cause it leads to surprises like this, but also, sadly, surprises my bank account.
LOL bev! Nobody needs surprises in their bank account!!
Good morning!!! Just started The Mister, so far so good. Wonder if it’s a trilogy? Oh The Doctor, Pretty Things & of course Twisted Pride, love my Mafia stories!!!!
Let us know how you are liking it, Lisa. 😀
It’s ok!! You know when you are into a book & reading it every chance you have. Sad to say don’t really feel that way. I’m going to keep reading!!
I started The Mister too, cos the sample seemed pretty good. But now (23%) it’s slowed right down 🙁 The jury is still out. But I will read on. Fingers crossed things start happening and it picks up.
Good morning everyone!! I love my coffee. 🙂
Ooh, I like the new mobile format! Thanks for all of the hard work you do for us, Maryse, we all appreciate it so much!!😘
Upcoming book news. Kate Stewart has a new one, Method, coming out on 4/23… (Mebbe sooner…)
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my library has The Mister in…I’ve been checking the online state library and they don’t have the ebook copy listed yet, but the paperback copy waiting list is 117 long… I checked my little library and it had no waiting list, so IDK? Last I knew we couldn’t reserve new books… *Shrug* I put a hold on it and will call this am.
*Tosses all the new Tuesday, spring break glitter*
YAY Grey!!!

Ok testing.

Whaaaaa!?? Stupid spam box!!
Morning! Still feel like butt over here, so many wasted days not getting anything accomplished. I sneezed 7 times in a row last night and have blown through 3 tissue boxes and some wipes- holy crap do those burn! My face hurts and I’m cranky. So cranky. This will be the 3rd holiday in a row I’ve been sick for. On the upside, Meagan Brandy FINALLY announced the release date for Trouble at Brayshaw High- May 28!! 😀
I feel for you, Tasha… oh how I feel for you.
Thank you for feeling sorry for me, Maryse. My husband laughs and calls it a man cold. *glares*
Hahahaha not!!! Grrrr!!! Lol
I’m usually like that too!! My throat feels a little sore today!!! Grrr!! Hope you feel better. Yes can’t wait for Trouble!!!!
Good morning! Came out today in PNR, Nightworld Academy by LJ Swallow, a YA. I already got that one. And A Bandit’s Prequel: A Steamy Reverse Harem Shifter Prequel (Colorado’s Raccoon Gaze Book 1)
by Emma Dean (totally copy and pasted that!) It’s a spin-off from her fox series which was awesome. 🙂
Rock Me by Cherrie Lynn is free. 🙂
Finished Demon Magic and a Martini by Annette Marie last night. Pretty good, but it was more of a setting book than a full adventure like the previous books. It’s obviously setting SOMETHING up but right now, we all just get to wait. Maybe her getting strong enough to fight or kick her butt to start the defense classes she’s supposed to take? *grins* Also to reveal something about one of her best friends.
ROCK ME!!! BRIAN!!!!! <3 I love him. Almost TRAVIS "love him".
Oh, I missed Michele G’s comment yesterday. I’m so happy you loved Where the Forest Meets the Stars too! Wasn’t the purple people eater the best? Lol! I would also be completely drained emotionally having read that with both Transcend and Epoch.
And! *snort* I thought this was funny. I’m searching for aluminum free deodorants because we’re having some trouble finding one that works the best for my daughter and saw Ursa Major Hoppin Fresh deodorant. Coincidence? I think not!
Weird! Ursa Major is one of my husband’s clients!!
Another cover with a guy looking down his pants. Cover of HOTSHOT. Is this a paranoia of guys? Checking to see if “IT” is still there?
Ha ha ha. I had to go and look that up. (or *down* LOL). Yeah, it’s OK, it’s still there. Phew!
*snort*
Maryse! Thank you so much for including Until Merri in the new releases! You’re the best!
Love your lists ♥️ Going to check them all out. Read Until Merri by Suzanne Halliday and it was awesome.
Thank you so much Cheryl!!
New Blog Reader and Wow i’m loving this blog so much detail 😍def going to check some (ok most) of those books out but have to say so Happy the Until Merri by Suzanne Halliday has made the List 😍 absolutely loved it 😍
YAY!!! Thank you for joining us Shelly and letting me know. And also, thank you for the recommendation!! 😀
I finished Where the Crawdad’s Sing. 5 fantastic stars. This was a profound book that has stayed with me for many days. I listened to the audio and loved the ascents. Jumping ahead of my TBR list to start The Mister. EL James has such big shoes to fit in. It’s hard when your at the top and having to remain there.
Thank you for the recommendation Rochelle!!
I’m about 2/3 into The Mister. Is this the same storyteller of FSOG? Very slow moving and I’m sorry to say, but the writing just isn’t very good. It comes across very amateurish. Will finish it but nothing about it makes me swoon.
Stephanie… is it related in any way to FSOG?
Nope! Not at all. You would think with the last name Trevelyan, there would be some mention of characters from FSOG. The H’s sister is said to be seeing a “psychotherapist type from Seattle”, but they don’t mention a name. I really hate to say it, but it’s not very good. I’ve definitely read worse, but maybe with such high expectations following FSOG I thought it would be better.
And one other comment… the dual POV was very weird. It never labeled whose view it was, so sometimes you had to read several paragraphs before knowing. And Alessia’s POV was not written well, at all.
I just can’t get into it. Think I have to move on. It’s never taken me so long to finish a book no matter how busy I am.
The Mister was hard going for me. Zero connection with the characters, the plot was all over the place, very slow and repetitive (yes we got it the first time that she’s your ‘daily’ jeeez). It didn’t feel at all authentic. Sadly this book gets 2 stars, at best from me.
Wow! I’m away for a few days and things around here look better still! Love the nested replies, Maryse! And love all the space!
I’m getting ready to start reading again and was really looking forward to The Mister, but now I’m not so sure. The reviews make me sad… I think she may have waited too long to release another book.
In the meantime, I’m almost halfway through the audio book of The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides and so far, so good. Blake Crouch, one of my fave authors, said this in his review: “The Silent Patient is a swarming, paranoid nightmare of a novel with an ending that is destined to go down as one of the most shocking, mind-blowing twists in recent memory.” I’m all for that! I also love the male narrator, Jack Hawkins. He has a British accent and is amazing with female voices.
Oh, and I finished the audio book of The Nightingale and it was FABULOUS! I was trying to tell hubs about the book when I finished it, and I couldn’t even talk because I was crying so hard! So that’s two Kristin Hannah books that have knocked my socks off (The Great Alone is the other). Anyone else have a favorite K. Hannah book I should try?
The only one I read was Winter Garden and I hated it. Not because it was depressing (I read it 8 years ago when I liked sad books) but plot was horrible so I’d stay away from that one.
Nay!! Then I think I will start that one (The Silent patient) next. It was expensive but I one-clicked it last week. 😀
AND YAY!!! I’m glad you’re loving the changes. It took me a few days to get used to it, but I’m loving it too. More efficient. Still a few improvements I want to add over the next week or so, but nothing crazy. 🙂
Taemin is going to be at a music festival in La the day after my bday. Gah. Wish. Lol.
UPDATE!! Okay I think I just fixed the wording on the email we receive new comment updates on.
I think it was a language barrier from the creators of the comment software. *snort* 😛
We will no longer be referred as “the bev” or “the Maryse” or “the R. Renee” and so on.
That had me giggling but I found where to change it. 😀
Wait. Do we get a vote? I like THE R. Renee! 😀
LOL!!! Well SURE!!!
Vote and I’ll change it back. 😉 I like “THE” in caps. Makes it pretty grandiose.
FLT:
Dagmar preferred to pray outside
The First Girl Child by Amy Harmon
I got the ARC and OMG, it’s good. Pure fantasy.
FLT:
“Rolling my forehead on the door, I take deep breaths to both calm and anchor myself.”
I’m reading an ARC of “Method” by Kate Stewart and supposedly the angst in this one rivals Drive!!!! :D!!!!! Famous Hollywood actor and the normal girl…
I can’t wait to read ‘Method’.
I’m so jealous, Maryse! Can’t wait to hear what you think!
FLT:
Alicia Berenson was thirty-three years old when she killed her husband.
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
(I used the first line of ch. 1 instead of the prologue because it was more interesting!)
I’m at 76% and still loving it! I’m going to seek this narrator out!
Any more new updates on The Mister? I’m still shocked by the reviews.
Check out Ela’s updates on GR. They are hilarious.
I was watching those!
FLT: Mindless sex – there’s a lot to be said for it.
From The Mister by E. L. James
Ha ha ha. I went with the first line of chapter 1 instead of the prologue too, Nay. (The first line of the prologue is ‘No’. LOL)
I coughed up the (pricy) cost of the book cos the kindle sample seemed pretty good. But then it quickly started to flatline. 🙁 I’m at 35% and it’s pretty lame. In spite of the saucy first line, so far it’s not saucy. Very different from FSOG, folks. I do intend to finish the book and I’m hoping it gets better. I don’t like to be negative about new books, but….. maybe wait and get it from your library?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it really doesn’t get better. The last few chapters are the worst. I did a quick skim of them just to get to the ending, which fell flat.
Dayum. After Nay’s comment I had a peek at some reviews and they’re pretty shocking. Eek.
Absolutely adored Until Merri by Suzanne Halliday one of my top reads this year.
