in Latest Book Releases

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY & WE ARE FULLY LOADED!!!! 80+ new books with a bunch that I couldn’t help but to highlight.

But “…what begins as a casual fling soon develops into something much more when Ella learns Jamie has a life-changing secret...), Savor You (Kristen Proby’s latest, with two famous chefs going head-to-head on a reality TV show. Oh I love chefs!!) and Disturbing His Peace (Tessa Bailey’s latest!!! SQUEEE MEEEEE!!! I just LOVE her cocky cops, and I devoured the first two in this series, and now I have this one! He’s her superior and she HATES his moody self. Sort of. ;) ) and Sinister Love (this is actually the conclusion to the duet, but OMG unrequited LOVE!!! And that blurb gave me the ULTIMATE jolt!). I posted book #1 in the bargain finds & reader recs section. :)

Laura: The Last Wolf by Maria Vale is super bargain priced today on Amazon. Many authors I follow have raved about this novel so I one clicked. I’m going to start it tonight. :)
marina: I picked up Road Tripped by Nicole Archer and it is hilarious.SO FUNNY. Perhaps inappropriately funny to some? But absolutely what I need right now. Not sure if you read/reviewed, didn’t search but just wanted to mention. Reminds me of Wallbanger funny. Will let you know when I’m done but I have a feeling I’m going to plough through the series. Each stand alones I think but related characters?

  • For the Love of Luca: A Mafia Romance (Chicago Syndicate Book 8) by Soraya Naomi <— MAFIA ROMANCE ALERT!! NAY FOUND US THIS RECENT RELEASE!
Nay: For the Love of Luca (Chicago Syndicate, #8) by Soraya Naomi came out on Tuesday, 4/17. Although it’s part of the series, it can still be read as a standalone because Soraya is great at re-capping so that a new reader won’t be lost. Up until now, books 3 & 4 (which are about a different couple) were my favorites in the series. However, this one may very well have beat them out–she really brings the angst!

But who could stand up to someone so wicked? He was wild. Griffin Bastien was the most powerful shifter to ever walk the earth. His claws had sent plenty of his foes to the grave. Wow! So many blurb jolts up there.

It’s great to be a book nerd today. :)

Lisa Aiello April 24, 2018 at 6:40 AM

Good morning. I agree, Leslie. So many bright and shiny pretty little things to add to the list! I adore having the problem of “what shall I read next?”

LisafromDFW April 24, 2018 at 6:48 AM

I clicked Road Tripped! Sounds like fun and has great reviews. I started Tinfoil Heart last night. Excited to see where it goes. So many books, so little time! Thanks Maryse!!!!

Maryse April 24, 2018 at 7:40 AM

My pleasure Lisa!!!! Quite a few that I wanna read. Tessa Bailey’s is a FOR SURE for me. :)

Maryse April 24, 2018 at 7:41 AM

Lisa A… Nothing better than too many choices.

MichelleS April 24, 2018 at 8:15 AM

Ooh ooh … so many shiny new books! Too many choices!

bev April 24, 2018 at 8:37 AM

Maryse is cracking me up with all her Tessa Bailey love recently.

I know you’ve read her before, but you seemed to be veering into more psych thriller or….not chick lit but romance the romance is sprinkled on top of the heroine’s journey.
And Tessa Bailey is pretty straight up romance.
It’s fun how our reading interests/moods take us on these different paths.

bev April 24, 2018 at 8:42 AM

Did you all used to read the Amazon boards, the romance rec ones?
I loved how specific they’d get like some one had loved a book like that and then wanted all of them.

A book with a beta cop hero who is a single father falling in love with the kindergarten teacher who he went to school with. He needs to be over 6′ her under 5’5. She liver in a fixer upper bungalow and is best friends with her mom.
I loved reading them. They were like personal ads.

bev April 24, 2018 at 8:44 AM

Hopefully her liver does not have it’s own address.

Tessa April 24, 2018 at 9:50 AM

There are tons of goodies up there! Though, it does remind me I still have to read Savage Prince. *grins* I will. I’m just back to PNR mode again. And I pre-ordered Blood Type. I was all set to read it and instead, I got involved with Godhunter by Amy Sumida.

It’s a great book, but my mind has to slow way down when trying to pronounce Huitzilopochtli. It’s one of those names that doesn’t sound like it’s spelled and I start pronouncing it how it is spelled. Who-its-lee-oh-poach-tlee. It’s actually pronounced wee-tsee-loh-pohch-tlee. TOO MANY SYLLABLES! :P I hope he dies soon so I don’t have to pronounce that name any longer.

steph April 24, 2018 at 10:22 AM

Nothing for me but Tessa Baileys first in The Academy series was available at the library so thanks Maryse, I’ll try it out. :)
I’ve been reading some stuff from your “what to read after 50 shades” list (old school!) lately too!

MichelleS April 24, 2018 at 10:40 AM

Bev – that’s hilarious! Didn’t know Amazon had that fesuture. Now going to go look for it for a good laugh.

MichelleS April 24, 2018 at 10:42 AM

Festure, meet liver…. liver, meet festure.
First world texting problems.

Maryse April 24, 2018 at 11:04 AM

LOL bev!!!

I am right there with you. I’m deeply into psych-thrillers, but there’s something about Tessa’s books (even if a bit formulaic) that is just… breezy. Just enough goofy fun, comedy, and angst to keep me connected to the characters.

Just LOVE her!! Plus. Cops. In. Uniform. ;)

Maryse April 24, 2018 at 11:05 AM

I love being a book nerd, Leslie!

Some disparage my love of books and consider it silly, but what do they know? Nothing. That’s what! ;)

Maryse April 24, 2018 at 11:09 AM

LOL liver… *snort* :P

Maryse April 24, 2018 at 11:10 AM

Tessa you just made me snort!!!!!

“TOO MANY SYLLABLES! :P I hope he dies soon so I don’t have to pronounce that name any longer.”

Seriously that is a line that we need to keep in our “best of” our blog conversations list.

Maryse April 24, 2018 at 11:11 AM

Steph, I need to update that list but if I tried, the list would become MASSIVE.

Amy April 24, 2018 at 12:41 PM

Holy moly, we got us some GOOD ONES today! :D

My Oxford Year (teacher-student drama!), Fortuity (love it when a preorder I forgot about pops up in my library), Sinister Love (now I can finally read Distorted Love)…Tuesdays are the BEST!

Amy April 24, 2018 at 12:49 PM

And I really, REALLY want the book Fahim is looking for on the other post!!!

Robyn April 24, 2018 at 2:36 PM

I finally succumbed to The Last Wolf. I’ve been looking at it for the last couple of weeks. I hope it’s as good as the hype!

I’m reading The Affliate KA Linde. It’s a series and the first book is starting off good!

Tessa April 24, 2018 at 5:32 PM

YEAH Robyn! I love that series. :)

LisafromDFW April 24, 2018 at 5:34 PM

Maryse, did you read Tessa Bailey’s Getaway Girl? I really liked it!!!!!! I know you are a Tessa Bailey fan!

Tessa April 24, 2018 at 6:17 PM

AMY! Just an FYI. Renee and Kooloo may be snatching Manny. That is all.

Amy April 24, 2018 at 6:53 PM

What are they reading??

Cheryl April 24, 2018 at 7:15 PM

Hmm, more choices after I finish The Hardest Fall.

A Manny book?

bev April 24, 2018 at 7:48 PM

Tessa, it looks like an Aztec name or something.

Tessa April 24, 2018 at 7:58 PM

Amy, Sleeping with Monsters by Amelia Hutchins.

Bev, it is! Hes the god of war and sun and other things. :) his name in my head is now Wee Tee. Anyone who objects can take it up with the Aztecs for making their main God have such a tongue twister for a name.

Lisa M April 24, 2018 at 8:26 PM

So excited for Iron Princess that I started & finished it today. Love this series. Only a month to wait for the final book. I can handle that!! Tessa get started with Savage Prince you will love it!!

Nay April 24, 2018 at 9:03 PM

Leslie M April 25, 2018 at 7:10 AM

Maryse, I wear my book nerd label with pride!

*side eyes anyone who thinks loving books is silly*

Ok, so who else thinks last season of Scandal was a snoozer?? Nay, have you watched final epis yet? Btw, you are not even close to being a senior.

bev April 25, 2018 at 8:44 AM

It is weird that I had a preorder come in that I forgot about.

However, tonight is the next ep of My Ahjussi!
And I’m literally giddy at 6 in the morning thinking about it. The anticipation of watching it.
That next chapter, you know.
Gah. I am loving this show.
I don’t want western shows to shorten, but do think the fact that most k dramas are 16-20 or so eps and that’s it gives me the same sort of book feels.
And it left on a , “Oh no they didn’t” moment.

bev April 25, 2018 at 8:49 AM

Leslie, I didn’t last that long with Scandal. The first couple seasons were must watch for me, but then they meandered. Plus, the characters became really unlikable. Though it seems like that was the point, Shonda Rhimes just said that the basis is that anyone who came in contact with the oval office became corrupted. Also, I think there is no way she ever wants to make jam in Vermont. Like , that’s how Fritz sees her?

Maryse April 25, 2018 at 9:23 AM

Right now (while I create or update the blog lists) I watch “Suits”. I like it a lot!! I think I’m on season 2 now.

Maryse April 25, 2018 at 9:24 AM

LOL Kooloo!!! You always crack me up!

Tessa April 25, 2018 at 9:25 AM

I have finished Godhunter! :) It’s the first of 22 books all on KU so I have a bunch of books to read. It was really good, though some things she recovered from WAY too quickly and others took her WAY too long. Still, it was fun and engaging, even if I did have to pronounce Wheety five hundred ways in my head. (By the end, he got named Weeteepeechee. Hopefully, I’ll get that name down eventually).

I started my pre-order, Blood Type. *does happy dance* I’ve been excited for this one for a LONG time.

Maryse April 25, 2018 at 9:38 AM

Lisa!! I haven’t read it yet. Crazy right?

Kooloo April 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM

Tessa babe I got Blood Type toooooo
Really want a sexy smart Vamp book and heard good things
*crosses fingers*

Tessa April 25, 2018 at 12:28 PM

Well, so far, I’m not that far into the story, but it seems like it’ll be good.

Nay April 25, 2018 at 12:51 PM

Leslie–thanks, but I feel like a senior!

I’ve been neglecting my book buds and my reading for the last several days because I’ve been absolutely engrossed in make-up/skincare videos for ‘mature’ skin. So after doing a ton of research, I just ordered a bunch of new things! Including 8 Real Techniques brushes!! So thank you, Maryse, for posting about those!

Re: Scandal. I LOVED the episodes with Quinn at the beginning of the season, but then it went downhill for me. I found the very end of it a bit cryptic, which I don’t enjoy. I love cryptic in my suspense/thrillers but not in other things.

bev April 25, 2018 at 2:57 PM

Nay, skincare is my new thing right now.

Nay April 25, 2018 at 3:02 PM

I’ve always been pretty good about taking care of my skin, but unfortunately, my genes and these meds I’m on don’t care how much work I’ve done. And during the past few years, my diligence has kind of fallen to the wayside, so I realized I better get back with it. My face is melting, and I can’t wear my makeup like I did when I was 30 anymore.

Mona April 25, 2018 at 3:57 PM

I’m about 50% thru Road Tripped. It is laugh out loud hilarious! Where can I get a T-shirt for Intercourse, PA?? Reminds me of Uranus, MO and their infamous Uranus Fudge Factory!

marina April 25, 2018 at 4:38 PM

Maryse, I am so happy you posted about Road-Tripped!!!! I hope you read it and am so excited that Mona and LisafromDFW will read it. I wanted to mention that it picks up after the first few chapters so stick with it. Soooo good and still thinking about it. In fact I was in the hospital overnight and was reading book 2 in the middle of the night, Head Tripped. Great too! This one focuses on the other’s twin sister. Next up for sure is Disturbing His Peace. It’s been this slow tease reading about Danika and the Lieutenant and I NEED to know what happens with them!!! So excited to read. It’s been a great book roll. I feel like April is always a good book month. :) xoxo

marina April 25, 2018 at 4:40 PM

Mona, I totally agree about needing that t-shirt!! Ugh, makes me want to read it all over again for the first time! (My older brother used to call me Uranus when I was little (we have a 7 yr age difference) and I didn’t get it. So sad.)

MichelleS April 25, 2018 at 5:52 PM

Did y’all hear the news? Scientists have discovered that Uranus smells like rotten eggs. I can’t make this crap up! Seriously. Uranus is smelly.

My students died laughing today. Body functions are still a hit.

MichelleS April 25, 2018 at 5:56 PM

I’m considering checking out “the god of war and sun and other things” WeeTee… but I can’t remember book one. Do I need to go back and read book one? Totally left my brain.

MichelleS April 25, 2018 at 6:00 PM

I finished Welcome to the Dark Side. Was on a list this last week sometime. Anyhoo… if you want an MC “fix” it’ll do the job. Reminded me a teeny bit of Sheehan’s work, only because she was 7 when she met him & he was 26!!! But he’s not like Deuce. Physically, yes, and alpha, yes, but not WTF did he just do.., you know?

Tessa April 25, 2018 at 6:20 PM

MichelleS, I can PM you book one. I just finished it. :) I am curious where it will go and have number two on my Kindle, but Blood Type had to be first. And now he’s Wee tee poe tee. That god will probably never have a correct name unless a movie comes out featuring him and it repeats his name a ton of times. I did the same thing with Harry Potter. Until the movies, Hermione was Her me Own E. lol

marina April 25, 2018 at 6:24 PM

MichelleS, that is too much. Totally made me laugh! Classic.

bev April 25, 2018 at 6:33 PM

I bet Deuce smelled like Uranus.

bev April 25, 2018 at 6:36 PM

Tessa I don’t think I’d heard the name Hermione until HP. Then thought it was a pretty name. I wonder how many parents to be saw it for the first tio.e, though old name, and liked it but then hesitant because of the books?

Ok ladies if the stork gives us another blog baby it is going to be named Hermione. Hear that Amy? Hermione.
I saw some migrating north for the summer.

Leslie M April 25, 2018 at 7:27 PM

Uranus is smelly!!

*cackles with laughter*

bev April 25, 2018 at 7:50 PM

I read these blog posts often and today was all makeup. Don’t know if any are helpful….dont wear it but:

Maryse April 25, 2018 at 8:08 PM

Tee hee!

Maryse April 25, 2018 at 8:14 PM

Nay I’m right there with you. I am STLL hooked on these videos… they are just so soothing to me AND I’m learning AND I’m indulging my shopping needs. LOL!!! :P

Amy April 26, 2018 at 12:21 AM

“I bet Deuce smelled like Uranus.” <—— Nope, he smelled like HERanus. *snort*

Amy April 26, 2018 at 12:21 AM

And those stupid storks better stay the heck down south.

JulieO April 26, 2018 at 12:46 AM

I just finished Welcome To The Darkside and loved it. It also reminded me of Undeniable. Going to read the first one in the series which is about his son who has a relationship with his teacher.

On another note, I started Blood Type and stopped at 50%. It just wasn’t holding my attention. Was disappointed. Maybe it was my mood. Will go back later and see if I want to finish. Hate to read something that I’m not really enjoying. Life is too short!

Jan April 26, 2018 at 4:11 AM

Haha Michelle. Yeah, bodily function humour never gets old with kids, huh?

Nay April 26, 2018 at 7:20 AM

Oooh, Amy! That’s just bad!!! lol

Michelle–thanks for the info! I’m definitely going to try Welcome to the Dark Side.

Happy birthday, bev!!!

bev April 26, 2018 at 7:30 AM

Eww Amy. Lol.

Thanks Nay. :)

Happy Birthday to Cheryl’s daughter.

MichelleS April 26, 2018 at 7:59 AM

JulieO – I just started book one too! Loved them as a couple, and hope I didn’t read any spoilers in book two.

Grey April 26, 2018 at 8:18 AM

Maryse April 26, 2018 at 8:59 AM

bev let me hug her!!!!

bev April 26, 2018 at 9:18 AM

I’m very giving today. Gifts for all.

Tessa April 26, 2018 at 9:27 AM

Happy birthday Bev! *pats on her back* See, no hugging. :)

Grey April 26, 2018 at 11:30 AM

*throws more glitter and confetti* *grabs bev for birthday hug*

*whispers* See, I got a hug too! Sure, she may have been distracted by all of the sparkles and stuff, but… I’m going with it.

Just back from the salon, got my roots touched up and new highlights put in. Love them. You know, how sometimes, when you go… it’s meh, maybe this is just me?? Ok, story time. I have dark, naturally curly hair. So… obviously, I’m super picky…right? LOL. I go back and forth about what to do with my hair a lot, I’d had highlights for a long time…and then felt like my hair was getting too brassy… and hated it. So, probably… I dunno, 8 months ago, I decided to start over and had my stylist do an all over color back to my natural shade… dark. Super dark… everyone was like…whoa. I liked it… But actually, the highlights kind of bled through on their own in the sun… bleaching in the sun/water, idk… anyway, I’ve just been having my roots been touched up since then and toning my highlights back to my regular color. This time… I decided to put some caramel kind of highlights in… and I totally love it. I feel pretty today. Just felt like putting that out there. LOL. Back to regularly scheduled book talks now…

Amy April 26, 2018 at 11:40 AM

*sneak-attack hugs bev*

May your day bring you as much joy as you bring us. :D

Amy April 26, 2018 at 12:08 PM

Grey…dark hair with caramel highlights is gorgeous!

I’ve been tempted to dye my hair a rich chocolate brown many times but I’m just not brave enough yet. Maybe when I start to go gray and NEED to dye my hair… *silently thanks dad for his non-graying genes*

I try to blend I’m not ready for the full hair color.
I love when I leave the salon feeling like my hair looks good. It sounds beautiful Grey.

Thank you for all the wishes. It is much appreciated.

Cheryl April 26, 2018 at 7:58 PM

Happy Birthday Grey!!!!!!

Cheryl April 26, 2018 at 8:00 PM

Sorry Bev- meant happy birthday to you!!!!

Ugh… too much family drama. House full of parents/grandparents and they are driving me crazy and I may have eaten too much ice cream cake.

Grey- hair color sounds really pretty.

“The first time Zoe Clarke saw me, my hand was wrapped around my dick.”
The Hardest Fall by Ella Maise.

One of the best first lines I’ve read in a while. Enjoying the book too. Enjoyed this author’s previous books and have been waiting for this one. She had some health problems and it’s been (I think) a couple years since last book.

Lessons in Corruption – G. Darling

MichelleS April 26, 2018 at 8:08 PM

Cheryl – GASP! Talk about a first line shocker!

MichelleS April 26, 2018 at 8:09 PM

So maybe I need to go back and finish Playing With Monsters, if Sleeping is that good! It was a DNF for me. What’d I miss???

Tessa April 26, 2018 at 8:47 PM

A lot. I’m surprised Monsters was a DNF (you put three stars), but we’re all different. I love the series, and it’s second favorite series from her. (Fae Chronicles is obviously the first). But a LOT happens in the first book.

JulieO April 26, 2018 at 8:50 PM

How is Lessons in Corruption? Haven’t started yet. Funny but Playing With Monsters was a DNF for me also. Just couldn’t get into it.

Leslie M April 27, 2018 at 5:24 AM

Cheryl, I HAVE to read that one just from that first line!!!
