HAPPY TUESDAY NEW RELEASE DAY!! Another loaded list (and yesterday’s Monday earlybirds had blurb-jolters on it too!) P.S. I’ll be adding more throughout the day as they go live, or deals are found. 😀
Which ones gave me a blurb jolt? ➔ River Wild by Samantha Towle (I MUST read this!! She’s pregnant and starting over, and her new neighbor is a moody jerk face!!! I love those!!), Deal with the Devil (Forge Trilogy Book 1) by Meghan March (He’s a predator and he has his sights set on her), Remedy (she finally got to be him with him one night, and he left her the next morning…), You’ve Got Male (Chick Flick Club Book 2) by Lila Monroe (they have competing food trucks but are into each other, and then a tv show is having a food-truck competition and now all bets are off), Wrong Bed, Right Roommate (Accidental Love Book 1) by Rebecca Brooks (her crush becomes her new roommate), The Consequence of Falling: (An enemies-to-lovers office romance) by Claire Contreras (she hates him, and then finds out he’s going to be her boss), When Ashes Fall (sounds like the ultimate love triangle!! She’s in love with two men, both so different), One Chance, Fancy (Prison warden and prez of an MC finds himself with a toddler…)

Happy tuesday!!! Daughter just hit “submit” on her college common application. Now the wait begins…
Lots of goodies up there to keep me distracted. 😉
BTW, I started River Wild yesterday and right away the prologue guts you. No graphic description, mainly talked about and implied, but still… There is an authors warning at the beginning.
Good morning! 🙂
Remedy (2nd chance romance) and When Ashes Fall (love triangle) sound interesting.
Cheryl, good luck with your daughter! My son is a senior (but he is in special education) and I am dealing with lots of “what to do post HS” drama.
I saw the author warning for River Wild…you will have to let me know if it’s wicked sad. I can’t take a super depressing read right now.
Ok, so picture this…think of how happy Bev would be if we watched K-dramas. Now multiply that by 100 and that’s how happy I am over Tessa, Lisa, Michele and Jenn reading Behind the Bars!!! I’ve been reliving the story again with them. What an emotional rollercoaster. Is it too early for drink? 😉
*tosses glitter* then *tosses K-cups*
Awwww, Cheryl! My daughter is a junior…I know my time is coming fast…ugh! Good luck!!
Leslie, big hugs Mama, you’ve got this!
So, I started my PFM at 4 am… *Stares at R* The Devil (Cards of Love series) by Ashley Jade…Humina, Humina. Wowsa, I’m living in my Spotify, and gah this is alllll sorts of forbiddenny. *Squeeeee*
So …..You’re their favorite.
Way to rub it in Leslie.
Tessa that hurts especially coming from you.
Sorry Bev! As much as I would LOVE to claim to be the fave, I’m afraid Tessa will belong to you. 🙁 You guys share the love for all that fae stuff and fantasy/pnr that I am so envious of. But…Lisa, Jenn and Michele are up for grabs. 😉
River Wild sounds good and Hook is on my radar. So many books to read! I finished Verity last night and MAN! 5 stars! If you want suspense, pick this one up quick!
LOL!
Good morning!
So happy they enjoyed it, Leslie! That’s one book where I was odd man out. It was just ‘meh’ for me. However, The Gravity of Us was a different story–it was one of my top reads of 2017.
I want to read Deal with the Devil. I still haven’t read a Meghan March book because I don’t want to start with anything that’s a spin-off, yet it’s daunting to think about going all the way back to her original series. So from the reviews, this book sounds like it’s in a new ‘world’, but then one reviewer calls it a spin-off–UGH! I think I’ll start with the Mount Trilogy (unless someone tells me I should go back farther).
I say start where you want to start. Which sounds good.
What if the earlier ones suck?
Good Morning All
Can’t wait to read River Wild
*giggling over here* at Bev and Leslie’s comments.
So as you know by Leslie’s comment I am reading “Behind the Bars” actually I finished it this morning. I do not know how that was the first book I have ever read my this author. She is a word wizard that one. I fell hard for Elliott; and fell completely apart reading this book . LOVED IT and not an easy loved it….but definitely earned.
You’re right, bev. It seems like I remember someone saying it was okay to skip the ones before the Mount Trilogy. Not that they were bad or anything. Just so that it wouldn’t be so daunting to catch up. And the Mount Trilogy got a lot of great reviews.
I’m just one of those weirdos that doesn’t always read in order. Unless it follows one person or I’m reading as released.
So the Others series in order because it would make no sense otherwise. But series that spins off to different brothers or cousins, then no.
Nay, we are opposites with the B. Cherry books as The Gravity of Us was the “meh” one for me. 😉
I love Meghan March’s CRs (and audio’s are fantastic) but the dark/suspenseful ones are not really my thing. I did try book 1 in Mount trilogy and didnt like it. Snoozefest. However, I dont know how or if it relates to her other series. Sorry.
Grey, I’m glad you found something great to read. I am having fun with the levels challenge.
Jenn, I think all of B. Cherry’s books are hurty ones, so you will probably love them!
Leslie-One of my friends on GR told me after seeing I was reading BEHIND THE BARS since she was a new to me author that all her books rip you a part and then put you back together. Definitely true with BTB 🙂
Nay-If it’s a favorite of yours I definitely am going to read the one you mentioned…The Gravity of Us, is this a standalone?
Jenn, yes, Gravity of Us is standalone and hot cover!!
Nay, Mount series was great read if you want lots of sex. It isn’t necessary to read this first but it sets up the fact tht Mount runs the city and there is references back to chararcters in her other books. Savage Prince, anti- hereos, has references back, but that started with a big sex scene and turned people off of no plot. But it certainly had a big story line. I like to read in order cause I don’t like to “wonder” what had happened. Meghan March are quick reads btw.
Loved finding a 5 star read so early in the year!! Currently reading the Jack and Jill Series (3 books) by Jewel E. Ann. I have read a couple of her books and loved them but I think the book summary scared me a little so I waited to read it. Definitely recommend this series!!
Also for those of you with teenage daughters or who like YA books, my daughter and I read A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi. It takes place a year after 9/11. We loved it but both wish it had an epilogue at end. But we would still give it 5 stars.
Happy Tuesday, ladies!
I was all set to click When Ashes Fall, but apparently I preordered it so YAY! Also, River Wild sounds great, especially after Cheryl’s comment. 😉
I have a couple of bargains for us:
The Ghost Bride is 1.99, down from 9.49 (remember this was a bev rec a while back?)
The intermission by Elyssa Friedland is 1.99, down from 9.99 (I don’t think it will have the *OOMPH* of After I Do, but it sounds like it has potential!)
Cheryl…fingers crossed for your girl! 😀
Hi Ladies!!!!
River Wild….1-click! Oh and When Ashes Fall…..clickety-click!!!
Loving all the love for Behind the Bars! I’m sure Leslie is glowing! Lol!
So, some of you know I’ve been reading the Carnage series…..*ducks from the haters* Anyway, didn’t love book 1, but continued and really liked book 2, and now I’m totally LOVING book 3, Marley!!! It was worth reading the whole series just to get to this book!!!!!
(Amy, saw your comment on my Favorites list…. YOU NEED TO READ MY TORIN ASAP….so curious what you would think if it).
Just popping in to say Hi! Great looking list up there Maryse! My TBR is soooo out of control. That said, When Ashes Fall is already sitting on my TBR waiting for me….because it literally called my name. I’m going to have to check out some of the bargains Amy mentioned above too…
Hope everyone has a great day. I’m heading back to do more number crunching now…being an accountant this time of the year is a lovely thing…yeah… no …not really!! Oh yes …I finished Behind the Bars. It was a great book. I haven’t reviewed it yet but it will probably be a 4 1/2 star for me. So…Leslie can continue to dance happily 🙂
The London celebrities books are good, esp the first two. Different feel. Instead of Hollywood, it’s London’s West End theatre crowd. I liked them.
The Magnolia Inn has a beautiful cover.
I might try the Devilish Lord Will cos I liked a book of hers I read last year.
I’m tempted by Sarina Bowen’s upcoming hockey book too.
Kathy P – another reader who loved Jack & Jill Series. Hear that Maryse?? Go for it. You won’t be sorry. Unforgettable!
I don’t doubt it MichelleS!!! I love that author and I already bought the whole trilogy. I need to get on it.
The Gravity of Us – I love this author, and I do remember this book… always a plus! I love a flawed hero who is an author, so that’s just catnip right there. Not my favorite of hers, but it was a great read.
Maryse, the Jack and Jill series is amazing. it puts you through so many emotions (dark, some tears, and some laughs). But you can’t just read one, you have to read all to get to the conclusion. Your laundry and house cleaning will forgive you!
Audible bought the rights to Verity so they are working on it! We don’t have a release date yet, but know it is in the process of becoming an audiobook.
This is from CH. I am a audio book junkie as I can work and listen.
That’s GREAT news Rochelle!!! This is the type of book I’d totally listen to.
Did you know you can make wine in the Instant Pot?!?
Mind. Blown.
GASP!! Whaaaaaaaaaa?????????
Why so quiet? Did everyone get drunk off insta pot wine?
I was reading a lot. Started a series that ended up annoying me so much, I DNF’d the third book. 🙁 Now, I’m happily reading the new Crossbreed book. So good!
Oh, and I got the review book for the Thirteenth Charley Davidson book. The book was good, except the beginning and the end. Which, I know makes NO SENSE, but it does if you read it. Still, I really loved it because most of it was good, especially the “end” of certain secondary characters’ stories.

7. Song that annoyed you in 2018 – anything hubs listens to because he plays same band over and over til I get sick of it and yell at him to change it.
8. Book you wish you could read, but can’t for whatever reason. Mists of the Serengeti because I’m afraid it will be too sad.
But you try new to you music?
Oooh, this will be fun!
1. Favorite 3 songs of 2018
Spotify says or Grey says? 😆 I’m going to go with Fall in Line by Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato, Carry You by Ruelle and Fleurie, and Tangled Up in You by Staind.
2. Favorite new to me author discovered in 2018
Our very own Robin, of course!
3. Newest song discovery of 2018
This one is actually thanks to bev! I almost put this song on my faves list for the year, but realized I could put it here instead… HERE COME THE REGRETS by Epik high and LEE HI
4. Favorite show discovered in 2018
Uh, I don’t watch much TV. The only shows I watch are Outlander, Game of Thrones and Scandal (which isn’t on anymore)
5. If you brought a candy to a deserted island, what kind would it be?
Gah, well…I’m doing the whole keto thing now…so, none. Boo. But before this, it would have been Peanut M&Ms or Wild Berry Skittles.
6. Best 2018 movie
Aquaman was pretty good…I don’t remember what came out last year, LOL!
7. Song that annoyed you in 2018
Hmm. This is tough. Oh, Baby Shark, definitely.
8. Book you wish you could read, but can’t for whatever reason.
Bright Side.
Oh, that reminds me I dont listen to LP. But I should. That is Amy and R all the way.
Grey, that makes me so happy, lol. I have a bit of a crush on Tablo. Seriously look at his wedding vows:
I think you are my echo. When I first met you, I thought that it was as if all of the things I had shouted out into the world before knowing you had come back to me in your form. … All the hopes and wishes, dreams and happiness that you have carried thus far, I’ll give to you. I love you.”
Baby shark. I have to listen to this. Toddlers love it. But why adults love it so? And funny because in kpop when idols go on shows they make them do Aegyo. There are a few songs that work for this and have seen Baby Shark pop up. Not baby shark but this is a display…lol. Some really hate doing it.

Yay Jenn!! I’m OBSESSED with LP thanks to Amy! And Eeep! Going to see her in 9 days, 12 hrs, and 40 minutes in Oakland with my other LP obsessee, the lovely Emma Scott. And then again in March with the hubs in Austin but that probably won’t be nearly as fun! 😀
And Lifehouse OMG. That’s my unicorn band. I’ve never seen them live and I would sell my soul to be able to!!!
Um… Grey… if you find yourself on a deserted island, you get to stop doing keto!
Or we are all doing keto.
And Leslie, you can do that one! I always tell you the truth. The prologue is the hardest part. It will be tough, but if you can survive it, you’re golden and I promise it will be on your best of list for 2019!
lol Grey, I’m not eating my candy. I’m using them for weaponry. I’m gonna need protein and jawbreakers hurt! I figure if I’m on a deserted island, I can figure out how to get a good aim with a slingshot and boom. Weapon!
And R you aren’t lame. I said I loved the song, but I listen to an inordinately large amount of music during the day. And as of about sept? I got into an alternative/ rock mood. So that’s my main genre currently. 😀
No, I meant I’m lame because I never venture from my cocoon! I never watch TV, go to movies, or listen to new music. The fact that Amy got me on LP was some kind of divine intervention!
We’re planning to move this year to a lively college town and live in the thick of it so my plans are to de-lame myself. The hubs is even getting me a mac air so I can write in a coffee shop like the cool kids!
I love my cocoon too. Everything I love in one place. My dogs, my books, my cooking stuff, my cooking shows, and you guys right here in my laptop. Yeah… I’m not much for going out.
FLT: “The biggest irony about that night is that I was always scared to fly.” How to Walk Away by Katherine Center
Starting the audio tonight!
Bev, I don’t really do new (or new to me) music. Robin thinks she is lame? I am the lamey-ist lamer that ever lamed. However, I do always watch vids of links you post. Although the music isnt my taste, I enjoy the dancing. 🙂
Robin, so funny…I thought your post was telling me I could do keto. Which if any of you knew me in RL, that’s a big heck to the no for this carb lovin’ lady!
Sorry Bev, silly me giving you credit for LP 🙂 I did mean R and Amy 🙂 Never even heard of them till Amy when I was reading T&D I will give you credit for BTS that definitely was all you….oh hell maybe I am even wrong about that.
You will all have to forgive me as I am totally in a book that just GUTTED me so what is the book…I was sucked in right from the beginning with the frist (4) lines of the book.
FLT:
I always heard music. Beats, lyrics. I only had to listen to a song once before it started playing in my head. One day…the music stopped.
When Ashes Fall-Marni Mann
OMG you guys are killing me!!!!! I wanna drop what I’m reading and start it ASAP!!!
I love it! It’s a lame-off! It reminds me of that scene in Notting Hill where they all share their “woe is me” stories for the last brownie.
Jenn, I really like that first line! And love Marni Mann! Gotta move that one up on my TBR!!
FLT: Don’t sweat it. Everything is temporary. (A Place Without You, Jewel E. Ann)
P.S. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED MARLEY (3RD book in Carnage series)….. it made the whole series for me!!!!!!!! Glad I stuck with it even after not being thrilled with book 1…..so worth it to get Marley’s POV!! (Thanks Paula for pushing me and getting me to stick with it)
Awe Jean I love that you are reading A Place Without You-loved that book.
Marni Mann is a new to ME author but I am seriously in love with this book even though I am hiccuping/sobbing and feel like I am going to throw up…I love having these reactions goes to tell you how invested I am. This book is owning me!
You have sold me on GR and now hear Jean…I am reading Marley! Thank you 🙂
R-Notting Hill-God that takes me back-LOVE that movie!
I have so much love for When Ashes Fall right now. That book owned me. I opened it intending to just get started, since I was at work, and the next thing I know it’s 7 hours later and I’m making enough unladylike crying noises at my desk that my co-worker had to come check on me!!! It’s a gut-wrenching, yet beautiful story. It will break your heart, but also mend it. It is not safe for those averse to Marmies…but it is also NOT about cheating. I had such a visceral reaction to the storyline when it all came together for me.
OMG Lisa you make me wanna read it SO BAD!!!! Gut-wrenching? Eeeeeeeeeeep!!!! I’m a MARMY!! Bring it on!
I have to second everything Lisa just said about When Ashes Fall. We buddy read it…well Lisa inhaled it…then I inhaled it…now we are waiting for Jenn…then Renee…and so on…
On a serious note, GO IN BLIND! Do avoid it if you don’t like heartbreakers….because I could have buzzed through a case of tissues (no lie). Don’t avoid it for any other reason…there’s really no cheating or anything else that folks might be worried about. It’s a beautiful and unique story. It is written in multiple POV’s (and time periods) which I know Renee is not digging and I confess that I had to get used to it myself at first too …but it really does lend itself to the story. Get in there ladies and read it!!
Oh R….I loved How to Walk Away!!!! Enjoy!
I’m excited to start it Michele! But I played a little of the audio this morning and I don’t think I can get past the narrator’s voice. Luckily I found the ebook on a different library app so I’m going to read it instead.
Leslie, I just saw R.’s comment to you about Mists…I agree with her. It’s such a phenomenal book! It is sad but it is so incredibly epic! It could qualify as your “one” heartbreaker for 2019…it IS worthy….let me know. I could read it again with you…
I would read Mists again too….. I’ll never forget that book!
AHEM! Hey, R? Yeah…weren’t we supposed to BR that one for #21 of the Levels challenge? Didn’t feel like giving me a heads up?
You suck as a BR buddy. <———- *giggling while saying that*
Oh shoot which book?? I BR with Terrill every week! I’d love to BR with you!
I’d so win the lame brownie.
That sounds exciting R.
Do not let Amy make you feel guilty.
*covers bev’s mouth*
Does this ring a bell from GR?
“I have How to Walk Away as my Kathrine book. Maybe we can BR!”
Were ya drunk when ya typed that? 😆
Seriously though, no big deal. Except now I need a new buddy to BR a book with since I’m reading When Ashes Fall next…
She sits on a throne of lies with vodka.
Oh duhhhh!! I have book brain. I haven’t reallystarted it yet and now there’s no rush because I wasn’t crazy about the audio. I’ll read it whenever your ready!
I’m pretty sure Lies With Vodka is my Indian name.

“On a drowsy Sunday afternoon, a man in a long dark coat hesitated in front of a house on a tree-lined street.” ~ The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Almost ready to check off my first book from the reading challenge, and then I’m starting When Ashes Fall…how can I not with all of the comments about it so far??
And just because we all need a daily dose of adorable:

Woo-hoo!! I still have my reading buddy! I’ll check in with you soon about it.
I’ll be ready! I just need to make sure it’s still available through my library app but I’m sure it will be. There’s only a hold on the audio.
Finished River Wild. The prologue hits you hard and what the H and h have been thru breaks your heart; however, nothing is too graphic or vivid in detail. It is definitely a SLOW burn. Not a lot of romance and not as angsty as you would think. What I didn’t like was an event that happened that was not addressed and left some loose ends and unanswered questions. Just seemed too convenient.
Cheryl, I started it and I really want to read it, but I hate that she made the two vile monsters in the beginning of the book, both police officers.
I support the police and everything they do for us, always have, and I didn’t like the image it presents —> that police are bad guys and not to be trusted (and yes I know there are some bad-apples that police officers of course!!) it just… rubbed me wrong. It’s not an image I want to support.
So I stopped for now. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a theme throughout the story?
Maryse, it’s not a major theme. It’s more the ripple effect of what other’s want to “see.” I think it gave a basis of understanding/bonding and also an explanation for how the MC’s had no other choice than what they each did or had done for them. I will say that it rubbed me the wrong way how certain things were not addressed or they simply changed because people’s perceptions were now positive after many years of being negative. Convenient.
Got it!!! Thank you, Cheryl.
