HAPPY TUESDAY!!! It’s time for another batch of new releases and quite a few (including yesterday’s earlybird books) are from authors we LOVE and were highly anticipated!!
The ones that gave me blurb jolts? That one up there to the left (The Wicked King) because so many here went CRAZY for book #1 (they are total jerk face bullies!! Er… the characters, I mean. Not the readers that loved it 😉 LOL!!) An Anonymous Girl (holy moly this one sounds right up my psych-thriller alley, and I LOVED the authors’ other book “The Wife Between Us”), Faking It (He ruined her job interview and now she’s got a job with him… traveling together!), June Kisses (hot cop and a video that went viral!!) and a few from yesterday’s crazy-awesome list like… The Kiss Thief (L.J. Shen’s latest angsty marital love triangle!!), Brant’s Return (Mia Sheridan’s latest!! He returns home and doesn’t trust her intentions), Privilege (Renzo + Lucia Book 1) (the mafia princess and the drug dealer), Ransom (hot K9 cop comes to her rescue!!), and of course… the latest BDB by JR Ward Prisoner of Night (The Black Dagger Brotherhood series)
P.S. A few fun things:

Good morning! I’m slightly cranky as my peppermint mocha creamer gone and my coffee isn’t too good.
But…I am going to start Sh*t My Dad Says today. So hopefully that will cheer me up. Tasha, I think you rec’d this??
Good Morning and why is that all Psych-thrillers I want to read are priced so freaking high…that makes me cranky! I want to read this one An Anonymous Girl for a challenge but Yikes 14.99.
See Leslie now I’m cranky too….however I am reading “Skin” BB Easton and loving it so I guess that helps smooth over my crankiness. Hopefully your book will help yours too. 🙂
I’m right there with you, Jenn!!! Dying to read it, but GAH!! That is steep…
I’m doing audio of Sh*t My Dad Says and it’s cracking me up. I am literally laughing out loud.
I have 4 audible credits so definitely going to look that up Leslie. I definitely need some laughs. Since I am work and can’t read maybe I am going to get it now and listen. 🙂
Good morning! Wow. What a list. Going to take some time to go through it.
Good morning!
Hubs found me a couple of the small size peppermint mocha AND pumpkin spice creamers at our local grocery chain, so I’m getting to enjoy them a little longer.
Jenn–I was just looking at 44 Chapters About 4 Men yesterday. I was going to start it but decided to go with Verity instead. Those books are definitely on my short list!
And, gah! The psych-thrillers ARE expensive. I was looking at some for one of the GR challenges, and it seemed like every one I considered was at least $12. TOO much for an ebook.
Yay! I’m glad you’re reading and loving it, Leslie!! His Dad is my favorite character, he’d be so fun to know. 🙂
Jenn~ That is why the library has been a lifesaver to my book loving budget!
Am I the only one that can’t remember reading books?? Thank goodness for the alerts from Amazon telling me I have!
Does anyone know if “Repeat” by Kylie Scott will be available in ebook later on?
Steph!! Yup! Kylie Scott’s “Repeat” will be released in ebook on April 9th. 😀
Leslie-I could not imagine actually reading this; I would probably DNF it but listening to it is freaking hilarious. I love his Dad! I only have 52 minutes left!
So thank you for mentioning it and inadvertently thank you TASHA 🙂
Nay-In regards to 44 chapters about 4 men, I guess that is actually the first book-then each one has their own book Skin,Speed,Star&Suit. After looking into all of these It was suggested to read “44 chapters 4 men last”
Maryse-I could use one of my audible credits but these type of books I physically like to read and not listen to so I will be stalking this book for a price drop 🙂
Steph-Yes the Library but I am impatient…when I want to read a book I want it like yesterday. Not sure on the Kylie Scott book if I see or hear anything on this I’ll let you know.
Happy tuesday! A quick check in and then back to work!
Jenn, I was thinking the same thing!! This audio is great but not sure if humor would translate in written form. I’m almost done (37 minutes left) and my stomach hurts from laughing so much. Thanks again Tasha for mentioning it.
Okay I need to listen to that audiobook too. I could use some laugh-out-loud funnies!
Jenn–Oh, really? I had no idea. But now that I’ve looked more closely at the blurbs and some of the reviews, that makes great sense, so I’ll start with Skin. Thank you SO much for pointing that out to me!
Leslie-I am done and yes my stomach literally hurts from laughing so hard, it’s almost as if I did 100 situps 🙂 loved it
Nay-I was also thinking since this is based on true events and it is YA does this fulfill the spot on our challenge for YA non-fiction? And you are so welcome <3
I read it in written form and I laughed just as much, but I’m glad you guys are enjoying it the way I did in audio.
I’ve given up on listening to Bird Box. I just don’t think I’m capable of listening to books and getting into them like I do reading. I did ok for the first hour. The next hour was in and out. I just can’t seem to focus on a task and listen at the same time, my mind travels too much.
I’m with you Tasha… I’ve started listening to so many fiction books (thrillers, romance) and I never finish them.
Self help books though, in audio? I LOVE those and listen to them intently, over and over again when I’m driving or doing house stuff…
I don’t know why I can listen to one genre and not another.
It’s been unseasonably warm here for some time now, I’m almost tricked into thinking it’s spring. I’d be down for that too, I’m not into winter weather this year. Lol! But, today is the last day of 50s weather, 20s and 30s the rest of the week. I’m hoping this is at least good news for my sinuses.
Tasha- “The Shit Your Dad Says” was only my 2nd audio-book I ever completed as like you I really rather read my books than listen but this one holy hell-the one liners from his Dad through all stages of his life…..just freaking priceless.
Happy Tuesday ladies!! I don’t know about you guys, but I’m in the mood for a fruity martini…er, for tonight. Right. Because I would NEVER have a drink before noon. Nope. Not me. I’m thinking pear martinis sound delicious…
I’m not an audiobook person, but after Jenn’s reactions I’m thiiiiiiiis close to buying Sh!t My Dad Says to listen to. I think I could totally listen to an audiobook like that as opposed to a fiction book. Considering how hooked I am on podcasts right now, it just might work for me! 😀
Back to SMDS, I remember reading one time where his dad said some guys hair looked like a couple of squirrels had been f%$#ing in it…LOL!!!!
Recipe and food talk…you know what is delicious in the Instant Pot? Collard greens. I cooked some pancetta using the sauté function in a little bit of olive oil, added chicken broth, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar, cooked them and then let the pressure release slowly, and WOW. Yummmmmmy.
I love collared greeeeeens!!!! YES I want to make this!!!
Last post and then I’m off to get my butt kicked by my trainer (who is angry with me for staying away for so long…I’m so screwed :?). At least I’ll work off all of the crazy energy I’m feeling right now.
I just found this site and have no idea how any of us missed it for so long! Maryse makes the fabulous what-to-read-after and specific genre lists, but we often blow right through them and need more, right? Welllll, on this site you type in the name of a book and it will give you a TON of similar books: whatshouldireadnext.com <———- 😯
Do it Amy-not to give them away as there are so many but one of my fave lines was…
“Sometimes life leaves a hundred-dollar bill on your dresser, and you don’t realize until later it’s because it fucked you.”
There were a few touching moments that got me too-just loved it!
Yes Amy that was one…and I’m *giggling* just thinking about it again!
OMG Amy how has that never come up and if it has HOW in the hell did WE (I) miss it. Definitely got put a few in there right now.
Oh wait I also forgot to comment on your Pear Martini….I just had one of these for the first time ever on New Year’s Day. So deliciously good.
Jenn–Hmmm, it says, “based on true events”, so I’m not sure. Which challenge has YA non-fiction? I missed that.
Nay-I read it wrong, it is actually (Read a YA or NA fiction) number 2 on the levels reading challenge….
So it should work for that! lol
Good morning all! *throws glitter* It’s Wednesday here. And I have a new grandson! That makes two now! Our run of males in this family just keeps on goin’! His name is Hugo and he has black hair and he’s just gorgeous. I’ve had my first cuddle 😀 I’m in love!
Happy reading, everyone.
YAYYYYY JAN!!!!! I love babies so much. <3
Congrats, Jan–that’s great! Love the name Hugo!
Congrats Jan!!
Congratulations Jan! I love the name Hugo also. 🙂
Congrats Jan! So sweet!
Awwwwww congrats Jan!!! Give little Hugo (adorable name) snuggles from the blog family. 😀
Congratulations Jan!
Oooooh Jan, I love hearing about new babies. Especially cute, hairy, cuddly ones. 🙂
Where is the best place to get swimsuits? I’m thinking about doing an indoor water park trip and they’re not in stores now, of course. I need a new one.
I love Venus swimsuits. I used to only get mine from Victoria’s Secret but they stopped their swimsuits line. 🙁
Tasha, usually in the bigger city malls the department stores will have swimsuits all year long for the rich people who vacation in winter. Like Macy’s, Lord & Taylor. Do you have those stores near you? I don’t know if Target has theirs out yet. I hate that store as ours is always busy with wicked long lines.
Thanks, Maryse! I’m looking now. There are quite a few so far that I’m interested in. I don’t like the built in bras though, so it’s a bit of a challenge finding 1 that has everything I like.
Duh! I dont even know where you live Tasha!! Because I live in the Northeast, I think that everyone does. Obvs, it depends where you are. I’m sure Maryse in Florida can get swimsuits anytime.
Congratulations Jan. New babies are just the best thing ever!
I’m in Ohio, Leslie. There is nowhere good or close to shop here when it is suit season either, so I suppose it’s time to start finding a shop online that I like. They’re 1 of those things that almost need to be tried on first, so it’s hard. Also, my metabolism has FINALLY decided to catch up with me in recent years and I waited so long for the moment, it’s hard to find the motivation to fix some problem areas. Also hard for swim suit season. Lol
Congratulations Jan…I LOVE BABIES <3 THE HUMAN AND THE FURRY KIND 🙂
Tasha, maybe you could use some athletic-wear in a pinch? I bet that stuff available in stores. I wore those running shorts that have attached undies inside (they remind me of mens bathing suits -same material) last summer and they worked great. Maybe sport bra/tank on top??
Congrats to Jan on her new grandbaby!! Enjoy!
Tasha, I’m in St Louis and some of my friends have recently found swimsuits at TJ Maxx and Target FYI.
Tasha, they are starting to come out. I don’t have one near me, but have you checked Walmart? I get mine there because I literally go through one swimsuit a year (kinda less actually).
Oh, I like the look of Target’s too and they’re cheaper. I spent a lot on the last suit I got (4 whole years ago), that’s how often I change mine up. Lol
I’m not sure I ever knew Josie Silver (author of One Day in December) that I really want to read, and a couple have said they really loved is also Kitty French/Kat French. Just makes me want to read it more. 🙂
Oh, I LOVE Venus swimsuits. They have a such a large selection for both styles and material plus coverups.
I get my swimsuits at Amazon no matter what time a year it is. I HATE shopping so I just get something with free returns and order several sizes. They’re usually so cheap I’ll end up keeping 2 since my top and bottom size tend to differ.
The latest BEST OF list is up!! It’s Jenn’s!! 🙂
https://www.maryse.net/books/book-recommendations/reader-favorites-jenns-best-books-of-2018-list.html
I’m with R.Renee – I get my swimsuits at Amazon. I know what brands I like & size.
I will not be divulging the size here, though. 😉
Lol, I’ll check Amazon out too then.
I’m reading My Oxford Year. The library said my loan had 2 days left, I’m not sure I knew it came in. I was intending to read something else at 1st, but am LOVING it. It’s just what I was in the mood for and didn’t even know it- can’t stop grinning!
Thank you everyone. Yeah, I love the name Hugo too. No one in the family has this name so it came as a complete surprise when they told us the name. And it’s great! They’re coming home today. All well. Yay!
Tasha, I feel you. Buying swimwear is UGH! Hope you find a suit you like.
Tasha, I’m supposed to be reading My Oxford Year too, for my January pick-for-me-challenge book over on goodreads. But I STUPIDLY STUPIDLY read a spoiler and now I can’t get started. Grrrr. i’m so annoyed at myself. Why did I click on that spoiler????????
Oh no, I hate when that happens Jan. I can’t get myself to read many books because I’ve read too many detailed reviews an it ruins it for me.
Oh no Jan I’m sorry-sometimes I think are clicking fingers have a mind of their own! I have not read it yet and have not read a single word about it so hopefully my clicking happy fingers will behave themselves
Well, sh*t. Ella just described me (her Mom) to just about a T. Like it’s a bad thing. *pshh*
Target here already has swimsuits out, Tasha. Seems like as soon as Christmas is over, the stores start stocking blow up pools and flip flops.
Well, lovelies…I finished The Wicked King….and I want MORE! This is exactly why I need a complete series and not one that is not complete. I have no clue how long before the next one comes out. I want it now. Like a spoiled brat *stomps foot*now.
Any other complete Fae series similar and just as good???
Oh yeah, the stores get their things in weeellllll before the season. I’ve been seeing hot cross buns and easter eggs in the supermarket. *checks date* Yup, it’s still early January. That’s just crazytown.
Well, goes to show how much I shop in store anymore. I’ve not been anywhere but Kohl’s and a sporting store for clothing in a couple years, at least, now. Oh, local boutiques I suppose. Target is a little over an hour away here. I have to make a whole trip outta it.
Also, I’ve never had a hot cross bun. I wish we had them here, they sound delish. I thought for sure Easter stuff would be out now, but they’re doing Valentines first, at least. When I think of Easter, I think of the giant specialty chocoloate covered pb egg my Grandma always gave us. It’s that time, see, when one consumes all things chocolate and I can’t not obsess about it in any form. *dreamy sigh*
Mmm. Hot cross buns are yum. They’re kind of English I suppose, so maybe that’s why you guys don’t have them? Yeast buns full of sultanas. Really yummy toasted! But I try not to eat them except close to Easter LOL. But I’ll save some room for chocolate egg yumminess too 😉
Congratulations, Jan! A baby! A boy baby! Must be baby J’s influence sprinkling all thru the world! *Tosses extra blue glitter and confetti*

It’s a very different kind of historical romance cos it’s set in Korea in the 900s. (Yep, you read that right). Someone on here recced it ages ago (Nay, maybe???) and I’m finally gonna start it for a goodreads January challenge called Romance Across The Ages.
I can’t say what it’s like yet cos I’m just starting. Looks good, though. And very different.
Nay, did you say SNOW??? Here in Australia we’re having a really hot summer. We’ve already had one major heatwave, and another one is starting today, forecast to last for a week. Today it’s going to be a mere 37C (97 to you guys). But tomorrow, 42C (that’s about 107. Yup!) And in the next week, three days of 41 or 42, and the other days high 30s. We also have a major bushfire (wildfire) alert. My hubs and I plan to go for our morning walks very early each day, then pretty much stay inside with the house locked up and the cooler on, and plenty of cool drinks. Oh, and my kindle 😀
Jan–that book wasn’t me. Maybe Tasha or Lisa? They both have it on their TBR. And yes, snow! We’re in the heart of winter here (although it was a warm 70 deg at my house a couple of days ago). Our Midwest states are supposed to get hit this weekend.
Jan…..if you want a korean historical you could always do this with me?

I remember someone did rec. it, but not a regular commenter. Maybe Jennifer?
Hmm. Not sure why I thought it was Nay. A mystery. Oh well, so far it’s intriguing. H and h are still kids though, so no romance yet LOL.
bev, that looks pretty good, actually. Have you seen A Frozen Flower? Set in same place and time as the book I’m reading.

I’ve seen it on TV in Australia and it’s fantastic. Awesome and epic drama. GORGEOUS sets and costumes, a forbidden love story for the ages, also an mm relationship in the mix as well. Sad and beautiful and moving. Based on real historical characters. Highly recommend for you, bev.
Same. Copy/pasted. 😉

Also listening to Baller by Vi Keeland. I thought I had already read this one, but not on my GR list. Really enjoying it and almost done. I just love Hoopla!!!!
