HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY!!! So… last week’s was a little bit of confusion. 😉 Here I was, so excited about the awesome list and all the books on it that were making me *squirrel* and it was a day of book-glitches.
Between books being accidentally deleted, and a few other book-clicking glitches (inaccessible release pages), well… *sigh* In fact, the majority of selections on my blurb jolt list were unavailable for practically an entire day. *ooooooof* But now we have a do-over! Let’s hope this week is back to normal, and we can get excited about this release day again! 😉 ‘Cause it’s a good one, too!

- The Ribbon Duet by Pepper Winters <— BOOK HANGOVER OF YOUR LIFE!!! BEST OF 2018???!!! Stacey was BLOWN AWAY!!!!! Ooooooooh I CAN’T WAIT TO READ THIS DUET. WHAT AM I WAITING FOR???
Stacey: Finished “The Boy and His Ribbon” and also “A Girl and Her Ren” last night and let me say….WOW……just…..there really are no words. Book hangover of your life. BEST OF 2018. It has been years since a book gave me all the feels that this one did and these words still feel inadequate to describe this book…..so Ill just say this…..This book sneaks its way into your soul, grabs a hold, rips it out, and doesnt let go. I can tell it is one of those books that stays with you literally FOREVER.
- Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas <— AWESOME TWIST!! I LOVED this one, and Kelli recommends it, too!
Kelli: I wanted to comment on a book that I just read over the weekend, “Dangerous Girls.” Yes, this book is older but I read your review, one-clicked it and literally read the book in one sitting. I was completely blown away by the ending, the book really messed with me in a way that I can’t describe. The entire book had me trying to guess the ending and then at the end, with the final twist, I was completely stunned.
- Once Upon A Time: Billionaires in Disguise: Flicka (Runaway Princess Book 1) by Blair Babylon <— THE REAL PRINCESS RUNNING AWAY FROM HER PRINCE… & THE BODYGUARD THAT SAVES HER… FREE TODAY!!! - The Bride Series by D. Doyle <— THESE JUST SUCK YOU IN! JulieO recommends it!
JulieO: A week or two ago I read on your blog a message from someone, can’t remember her name, that she read THE BRIDE SERIES BY S. DOYLE. Sounded interesting so looked it up and ordered the first one. Read that one and onto the second. Before I know it I have read all 5 books in the series in a day and a half. They are kind of captivating. They are sweet, humorous, good writing, the h is a strong female character and the H is a guy that every woman would love to be involved with. The setting is in Montana on a ranch. The storytelling and the story just suck you in. Yes there is romance and sex. Not the kind that goes on for pages. Just really enjoyed and will keep an eye out for more of this authors books.
- Full Tilt by Emma Scott <— ONE OF MY 5-STAR FAVORITES is free today! OMG MY HEART!!! P.S. Here’s my Book Review “…Jonah Fletcher is running out of time. He knows his situation is hopeless, and he’s vowed to make the most of the handful of months he has left to him. Waiting for feedback on More Than Words.
Right now I am reading and enjoying Steadfast by Sarina Bowen and have come to realization that “second chance romances” are my thing. 🙂
meh..
🙂
No clue but nothing sounds appealing and it hasn’t for some time now! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although, currently reading Tessa’s ATF Mafia book and so far so gooooooooooooddddd!
I took bev’s advice. Started Sea of Tranquility…
Oh my Grey. You are in for AMAZING. The very very end will give you goosebumps. I have them right now just thinking about it. <3
Whatcha in the mood for Steph. Let’s see if we can find something for you.
You too, Ela. Gritty? Dark? Sordid? Sweet?
😉
Grey, I hope you like it. Lol, it does take me back to my lurking days. 🙂 And all those indie books.
I want an update on the br too.
I really liked Constant by Rachel Higginson. I read that the other week, maybe if no one has read that and is in the mood…I know Maryse had a good review a while ago of the duet.
How about Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker? Unputdownable for me.
Little J baby will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and the length of him is already half my size! (Short people problems, lol)
I need something wonderful Maryse!
I’m reading Tessa’s Camelot Series, and OMG… I’m hooked. Intrigue, debauchery, power, wealth. Not my usual schtick, but it’s working for me. Stayed up late because I didn’t want to stop.
Tasha – “short people problems” – LOL – I hear ya’. I’m a whopping 60 inches, so elementary aged kids pass me up quickly.
Lol, I have you beat by a whopping 2” MichelleS.
Oh Michelle! You’re gonna love it!!! Tosses more glitter! So far, SoT is kinda giving me FC feels… But I’m literally only a couple chapters in…
OMG Maryse!!! Check this out. Ask Alexa to launch “Stephen King Library.” It asks a series of questions and then selects the perfect SK book for you! I got Firestarter! https://www.wsj.com/articles/which-stephen-king-novels-are-you-most-likely-to-like-a-new-app-will-tell-you-1528801200
WHAT WHAT WHATTTTT? Oh I will SO do this. P.S. I read Firestarter when I was 10? 12? Loved it back then! LOL!!
So R. We buy the book and it’s the audiobook and she reads it? Okay I gotta try it when I get home so I can comprehend. LOL!
It’s pretty cool! And the voice sounds like the guy from The Twilight Zone!
I did it too, I got Lisey’s Story…anyone read it?
*does happy dance* Ela’s reading it and liking it! 🙂
I’m reading a library book, Fire by Kristen Cashore, because apparently, it was due last Saturday. Oops?
I just finished the Ribbon Duet and holey moley that took me for a ride right down to the last heartbreaking page. I felt like I lived those pages with Della and Ren. Not a lot of authors can “take you there”, but Pepper Winters did!
Anywhos I’m reading something vastly different to get my mind off that darn blue ribbon, I’m on the second Jane Yellowrock book!
Oh, IDK! I didn’t get that far. I just did the questionnaire so that it would pick a book for me.
Holy cow, how can baby J already be almost a month old??? I forbid it… *not happening*
Packing up for a road trip and just saw On The Edge by CD Reiss is out now. So excited but need to brace myself.
Nothing sounds appealing or earth shattering. That’s what I get after reading Transcend and Epoch. Waaaaaa
Lol Grey, it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long at all. It’s bittersweet w/him being my last, but I am excited for a little more sleep at night the bigger he gets.
My hubby just spent the last 2 hours stripping the bark off sticks found in the backyard for Melinda’s magic wand idea. We’re making a family project out of it from a diy found on pintrest https://www.doodlecraftblog.com/2015/10/harry-potter-week-diy-magic-wands.html?m=1
I’m reading Lying in Wait off this list. 😉 Very early in, but so far so good.
This weekend I reread Birthday Girl….it’s just so good. It’s my top read so far this year. I read Unbreak My Heart because it kept popping up on the blog and OH BOY that was amazing. I also read Arrogant Devil which is the perfect bully book. It’s funny and I loved the heroine and it has a sassy grandma (WHO doesn’t like a sassy grandma! They steal all the scenes they’re in!)
I’m the one who recommended The Bride Series by S. Doyle! I’m so glad glad you liked it JulieO! I’ve been telling other people about how much I ended up enjoying it. I just read the Bad Assassin by her and sadly I did not enjoy that one. The Bride Series was just so much better done on all levels.
Nay & Maryse how is the book going?
I’m so sleepy. Horrible sleep last night. Now need to stay up so I don’t fall asleep too early. I hate when I fall asleep early and wake up at like 12 and my body thinks I just had a refreshing nap.
I was all excited when I saw Tell Me Lies and Healing Touch, then I was THRILLED when I saw them already sitting in my library! Not sure when I preordered them but I’ll take ‘em!
I’ll also take More Than Words, Encore, Shattered Love (that blurb…DAMN), and The Love Letter. Yay for Tuesdays!! 😀
By the way, Maryse…the blurb for Shattered Love is under the title “Relentless” above it up there. 😉
*whoooooops*!!! Thank you Amy! I fixed it. 🙂
Ashley
Thanks so much for recommending THE BRIDE. Like I said, it just sucks you in. And didn’t you just want a Jake of your own? Thanks so much!
Ashley
Loved BIRTHDAY GIRL too
I had decided last night to put myself on a book buying ban until at least August and then only 1 book that month. I have so many that I own that I’ve not even picked up yet or finished that I know I’ll love and I need to be firm w/myself. And then I read a review for Providence (which I was dying to read anyway) that stated “Providence, a novel for the Stranger Things audience…” and Now my resolve is already broken.
Also, I don’t remember who it was, but which book was it that was recommended a week or so ago that was like a Kristen Ashley feel?
P.S. I’m with Tasha!!! And I’m tagging in late here, but if anyone remembers what recent book recommendation had the KA feel, I want to know please. I’m dong searches as we speak.
Tasha, I think it was something Nay rec’d.
Lessons in Corruption.
My song the last couple days. This is why I am never the cool kid with music, lol. I’m stuck so much in the 60/70s.
https://youtu.be/nq8bmS2UZb8
bev I love the 70s!! Not so much the 60s… LONG LIVE DISCO!!!!
I wouldn’t say that bev! One of your suggestions made it onto my playlist and 2 others sat there for weeks before getting cut. I really struggled cutting them too! They just didn’t fit the sound I was going for.
Tasha, I read Lisey’s Story a few years ago…it was typical Stephen King …a bit strange but I liked it.
Lol, I remember the Nick Drake one. What was the other cut?
Nick Drake and Valerie June were cut. I kept The Kills
Lol. I forgot even who I even mentioned.
I just remembered that Secretary Kim is today and got so happy.
Reading two books very slowly.

In my dream, the girl was drifting, far, far below the crashing waves and the cries of the gulls in the cold, sunless depths of the North Sea.
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware.
I just squirreled from the angsty romance one (I’ll go back!!) but I needed another psych-thriller and devoured this one in pretty much 24 hours: “The Thinnest Air” by Minka Kent and yep!! It got me. LOL. I really couldn’t put it down. Not the craziest most shocking-exciting book ever, but had me guessing right to the end.
Tee hee!!! And then there was a twist thrown in and I was all… WHATTTTT???? And my blood ran cold. 🙂
Now… back to my romance. 🙂 I need a good, deeeeeeeep love story.
FLT: “Today is Anthriscus sylvestris—Ravenswing or Cow Parsley to everyone else.” The Definition of Fflur by E.S. Carter
This book is fantastic so far, but I’m still struggling with my American Queen/Prince/King hangover and can’t seem to focus. The second I get my loan back, I’m putting this down and starting that over.
Wow R!!! That is quite a reaction on that trilogy. I haven’t even started it yet… DARN SQUIRRRELING!!!!!! Now I wanna read it.

“My gaze fell onto the small dessertspoon that was sitting beside my plate, and I contemplated whether using it to gouge my eyes out would hurt.” ~ If You Say So by A. R. Myles
It’s okay so far despite the minor annoyances of the writing such as repeating phrases, attempting descriptive phrases that really just do not make sense, the h describing herself in an overly confident way which makes me cringe, and editing errors. BUT! I haven’t given up on it yet at 20% so obviously there’s hope. We’ll see if it stays that way…
Hey AMY!! Exactly like me for that book so far.
Oooooh Maryse, I’ve been seeing that one in my Amazon recs and I’ve been intrigued. Guess I’ll be clicking it now!
And it’s a Kindle First FREE book. Yay!! 😀
Yes it is!!! I couldn’t resist just reading it now. I’ll post my review soon, but it was a good, and very “guess the bad guy” kind of book. 😉
I’ve been obsessed over it for weeks Maryse. It’s bad. I need an intervention.

52% so far and it’s fun. Some slap the stupid person moments, but fun. I just want to keep reading it. Also, I think my angst button is even more broken than before. *nods* I can so see where, a year ago, my tummy would’ve been in knots, but after some of the mafia books I read, nope. No knots. *sighs* Stupid angst box!
R Renee
I read American Queen the day it came out and had to wait forever for the next book. I think I commented that the end chapter or two was a little eye opening for me because I had never read that being done before. I’m not a prude just never thought of that.
Loved those books. Read them twice also. Enjoy again.
HA! Angst box…love it. Kinda like a voice box. 😛
Yep Maryse, I’m holding out for that non-traditional type of ending I love. Although sometimes I just NEED predictable, ya know?
I’ve heard the American Queen series is unique because it goes THERE. After all the hullabaloo I’ve heard about it, I’m thinking I need to give it a shot.
It’s so different from my norm! I only picked it up because of what I’d heard about the writing. I have 3 friends reading it now: #1 isn’t sure it’s her thing, #2 knows it’s her thing, but is still on the fence, and #3 is flipping the heck out. 😀 If you decide to try it, I encourage you to get a sample first. It is lendable (but mine have already been claimed). Be prepared for an OTT ride that definitely GOES THERE! And keep in mind, the premise alone is farfetched. It you’re looking for something practical and realistic, this isn’t it.
Maryse – The Ribbon Duet is a deeeeeep love story!
FLT:
“Iwas cursed by a wizard when I was seven years old.” – American Queen.
But I may finish & start this..,
“The first snow of winter had begun whipping through Velaris an hour earlier.” A Court of Frost & Starlight (finally, my library hold came in)
R.Renee – I’m getting a kind of “Original Sinners” vibe from American Queen. Not quite the level of T. Rheisz writing, but some CRAZY stuff for sure!
I haven’t read her. I’ll have to check it out when I get past my first person/present tense faze.
FLT: As the crow flies, Tuxbury, Vermont wasn’t all that far from Boston.
Keepsake (True North #3) by Sarina Bowen
I just finished Steadfast (True North #2) and loved it. 4.5 **** Swoony, broken hero.
MichelleS, YES! American Queen did have Original Sinners vibe.
I added it to my TBR! I’m excited to try it out!
I just checked, and I already have American Queen. Well, guess I HAVE to read it now.
Practical and realistic? In a book? *snort* Nah, not always needed. 😉
I have GOT to move the Ribbon duet up on my TBR list…
I’ll have to check it out Michele G. I actually still have read any Stephen King. I started 2 and liked them enough, but I swear my brain just won’t stay on task anymore. It’s everywhere and I can be reading the most amazing book and still have to make myself focus long enough to finish it. Mostly I think it’s because I don’t really get time to myself and so I’m rushing and trying to squeeze what I can in since I know I’ll never have time to get to about 100 things that rush through my brain all the time. Including the 400 some books that I want to read. Lol
I have 2 FLTs. To match my scatter. Honestly, I replied to the music Bev shared and then proceeded, a long time later, to correct a word that after I reread my comment, I quickly jumped to explain that I was smarter than that and it was just my sleep deprived brain making mistakes. Seconds later, reread it again only to prove my brain is plumb dumb and I had it right the 1st time. Obviously, I ramble too. *sigh* Oh! And….realized hours later I replied on a completely different post anyway.
10% left and I’m done w/this one- ““Iknow you hate surprises, Stella. In the interests of communicating our expectations and providing you a reasonable timeline, you should know we’re ready for grandchildren.”” from The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
“My husband did not mean to kill Annie Doyle, but the lying tramp deserved it.” from Lying in Wait by Liz Nugent
Sure. Sure. Sure.
I say watch My Ahjussi because it has an interesting heroine and nontraditional ending. But is Amy all …Ooooh bev I need to watch that?!
No. No. She isnt.
LOL bev. Yeah AMY!!!!!!
*sigh*
Why do we want BOOKS like that, but poo-pooh the shows?
Lol, Tasha.
I’m glad you like it. Music is such a powerful memory tool.
Just got home to a big mess from the dog. Thought I’d safe guarded everything, but nope.
So clean, dinner, Secretary Kim, and if I can stay up a couple chapters of Cabin 10.
The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch is on sale.
I have had this in my tbr for YEARS! I need to just finally read. Lots of great reviews and sounds fun.
Thank you bev!!! I’m adding it to the Friday Finds list that I’m making 🙂
Oh dear, bev. Naughty doggie. No bones for you tonight, doggie.

“Don’t get it,” I said as I heard the ringtone of our apartment phone.
from Smooth Talking Stranger, a lovely CR by Lisa Kleypas. Jack Travis is a larger than life Texan businessman. A man’s man. Alpha male to the max. And hot! Phew! He and Ella are great together. I really like this one.
Because you are all readers.
*shrugs*
What can I do?
I like you all any way.
And one day I too will be a reader.
Jan, I love her, but I was all *deep deep breath* lol.
She put her head down for a second and then just went back to sleep while I cleaned it all up.
OMG!!
Smooth Talking Stranger
One of my favorites. The parking garage scene gets me every time.
Not sure what took so long , but Wrecking Ball by P. Dangelico just crossed my radar. I know you reviewed it last year, and I’m late to the party, but I absolutely loved it. What a fun book. So much that I immediately started the second book in the series Sledge Hammer. It’s a stand alone, but both characters were in the first book. I don’t usually enjoy those second books as much as the first, but not the case here. It was hysterical. There were some very sweet moments as well, but I don’t know the last time I laughed so much during a book. If you liked the first, be sure to read the second book in this series.
JulieO, I just read the parking garage scene! *fans self*
