Time change.

*shakes fist*

Leslie M November 6, 2018 at 7:37 AM

Wow Bev, you are up way too early. *passes Bev large mug of coffee*

Happy Tuesday everyone.

bev November 6, 2018 at 8:41 AM

Thank you. 3:45. I need to remember I have an alarm and not wake up.

Maryse November 6, 2018 at 8:48 AM

Yesterday I woke up and saw my alarm clock showing 6:30am… and I was all… *sigh* I may as well just stay up. So I took my laptop and started clicking and scrolling, and then I saw the time on my LAPTOP that said 5:30am. GASP!!! I promptly shut it down and went back to sleep. :D

Tasha J November 6, 2018 at 9:28 AM

Morning. *yawn* I was up until 3am this morning reading Binding 13. And got up at 7, in for a long day and I knew it. And I kept telling myself, well it’s like 10 minutes till (10,11,12, etc) I’ll stop then. Pfffft.
I love it, but the characters (probably Bc it’s ya) annoy me too. The running away all the time, the doormat…

Oh! And Liane Moriarty’s Nine Perfect Strangers released today too. :) *sips chai tea*

Tasha J November 6, 2018 at 10:27 AM

The Music Shop by Rachel Joyce is on sale for 2.99 from 13.99 and The Solitude of Prime Numbers by Paolo Giordano is on sale for 1.99 from 12.99. Neither are romance, but they look to be good ones.

Jean November 6, 2018 at 10:29 AM

Good morning! Love the cover of Hate Notes!

It is a rainy miserable day here! I was “this close” to calling out sick so I could read Heartbreak Warfare. OMG you guys…… this book! I’m only at 18% but I know this is going to hurt! It’s so great though!!!! Can’t wait to get back to it!

Nay November 6, 2018 at 11:17 AM

Yes, Jean. It’s going to hurt!

Well, #3 happened. Son #2 tapped a tree in MY car last night. Well, actually, he was going down a driveway and lost control in the mud (we had a gullywasher), and the car slid into the tree. He’s fine, but there’s a nice, new dent in the front fender.

I’m going to lock up all the vehicles!! UGH!!

R. Renee November 6, 2018 at 11:21 AM

Nay!!! No more vehicles for you family! You’re all grounded!!

Steph N November 6, 2018 at 11:37 AM

Hate Notes! Click!

Amy November 6, 2018 at 12:12 PM

Nay…*snort*…oh my…*tries to cover snicker*…your men and their cars are out of control…*loses control and cackles hysterically*

Amy November 6, 2018 at 12:19 PM

I actually LOVE waking up too early from the time change because then I can laze around and read before I have to get up and adult. Now, the time change in the Spring is another story…

Someone Like Me (holy moly!) and Hate Notes are definite clicks!

I am at 23% of Binding 13 and really liking it, but I’m torn between just savoring the time in that world and wanting things to pick up and punch me in the gut. It’s slow going but not in a bad way. I guess I’m just not used to this sort of pace. But OMG I love Gibsie!!! He is a hilarious addition to every scene he is in.

Amy November 6, 2018 at 12:20 PM

Oh, and wish me luck…I’m leaving in a few minutes to go try on dresses, which should help me narrow down my options, at least in terms of what style I want to go with. :D

Nay November 6, 2018 at 12:32 PM

Okay, I need someone to tell me–I know that Binding 13 is angsty and wonderful, but now that more people have read it, is it too young for someone like me who doesn’t normally enjoy YA? If it was under 300 pages, I’d try it anyway, but it’s so long that I don’t want to read and read, hoping it’ll mature a bit, only to have it stay youthful the entire time. (if that makes sense?)

Amy November 6, 2018 at 1:03 PM

Nay, I’m obviously only a short way into B13 but so far so good. I tend to like YA and don’t mind the immaturity, but the characters themselves must have a mature voice in their immaturity, if that makes any sense. And B13 so far has that.

I get butterflies in my tummy when they interact, and I’m loving it. ;)

Maryse November 6, 2018 at 2:04 PM

Agreed Amy. It doesn’t have that immature feel… very solid and thoughtful characters.

Tasha J November 6, 2018 at 2:10 PM

Organic white cheddar Doritos are seriously addicting and I can’t stop eating them!!

Nay, I think it’s a mature YA. Just, I dk. I suppose the constant running away in EVERY conflict was starting to wear on me. I get frustrated easily anymore, I think. And some other things that bothered me, but I won’t spoil. I tell you what though, those 800 pages really don’t feel daunting. I DO love it. I will definitely jump into the next book right away!

bev November 6, 2018 at 4:04 PM

I have been lazing before work but 3 days in a row is too many. Now I just want the hour of sleep.

I really do not find YA voices overly immature……usually. I usually find the immature voices in NA. Or maybe it bugs me more, though I love NA, because they should know better.

Amy November 6, 2018 at 5:38 PM

bev, did you see Eleanor and Park is up for Best of the Best on GR? ;)

Amy November 6, 2018 at 5:42 PM

Okay, I tried on about 2 dozen different dresses (no joke, TWO dozen) and finally figured out the style and color I’m looking for. I want dark, off the shoulder, fitted with a little flair, and some sparkle. And the winner is…

I’m in love with this dress. It will have to be altered a tad, but I’m so excited to wear it! :D

Nay November 6, 2018 at 6:04 PM

Amy–I love that! Love the color and the swing at the bottom especially.

Thanks for the Binding 13 feedback. Paula has been telling me to read it, and she always knows what I’ll like angst-wise, but over 800 pages of YA is just so daunting to me. Of course, I loved all the Twilight books and read each of them at least 3 times, so there’s that. I guess I’ll start it tonight. I’ve been having so much trouble sticking with one book lately. I have about 5 of them where I’ve made it to 20-30% and decided I’ll go back later.

Tasha J November 6, 2018 at 6:31 PM

Amy, that dress is perfect! It’s sort of a mix up of quite a few that you had posted and we all liked.

Leslie M November 6, 2018 at 8:06 PM

Amy, the dress is GORGEOUS!!

Nay, I’m afraid of Binding 13 length too. Slow, long books can be tough for me.

Jean November 6, 2018 at 8:13 PM

Amy, love the dress!

Leslie, B13 was long and YA which I don’t always love, but in the end it was worth it! Try a sample!

Cheryl November 6, 2018 at 8:19 PM

Amy, excited for you that you found a dress that you love!!! :)

I had a real sh!tty day and not sure I’m even up for reading. Definitely have to be something lighthearted and funny.

Tessa November 6, 2018 at 8:20 PM

Oh, that dress is pretty and will probably look great on you! I love the sparklies. :D

bev November 6, 2018 at 8:54 PM

Its beautiful Amy. And you wont clash.

Now for hair and makeup…..

Voted. Didnt think I’d make it. But ballot cast.

bev November 6, 2018 at 9:22 PM

I say bold red lip.

Michele G November 7, 2018 at 12:25 AM

Amy, that dress is incredible!!

Nay, they say bad stuff comes in threes sooo hopefully the bad luck with cars is done!!! (Maybe lock all the cars up to be sure

Jan November 7, 2018 at 1:01 AM

Ooh love the dress Amy. Beautiful and elegant.

Nay Binding 13′s more NA than YA. I’m not often a fan of either genre really, but there was just something about this one and I couldn’t stop reading it. The length didn’t seem to be an issue. I’m easily bored in books but I never got bored with this one.

Amy November 7, 2018 at 11:41 AM

Thank you, ladies! I’m so thrilled I found the perfect one after all the back and forth I was doing.

bev, I was thinking along those lines…either smoky eye and nude lip or minimal eye makeup and bold red lips. And I still have to decide on hair, up or down. *sigh*

And YEAH for voting! I hope everyone who wanted to was able to vote. No matter what side of the fence you are on, it’s an important responsibility.

Amy November 7, 2018 at 11:43 AM

Awwww Cheryl… *hugs* Sh!tty days suck sweaty donkey balls. :( Maybe something by Meghan Quinn? I’m pretty sure a bunch of her books are in sale.

Leslie M November 7, 2018 at 12:03 PM

Amy, my vote is hair up (shows off cut of the dress) and I always love a bold lip. Red lips will be super sexy with the dark color.

Voting was cool because my son got to vote for first time. He registered at school recently, but we didn’t think it was early enough for this election… turns out it was. He was so proud.

Amy November 7, 2018 at 2:36 PM

Yay for your boy, Leslie!! :D

So…I’m thinking either full-on fancy updo like in the first picture, or maybe simple but pretty in the sixth picture. Opinions?

On a sidenote, the lady in the first picture could be my doppelgänger. Seriously. At least as far as the nose, lips, and chin goes. It’s actually kind of scary. Not sure about the eyes because I can’t see them, and my hair is a little lighter, more of a caramelly color since so much of the red has faded with age. But yeah, I’m spooked…

Amy November 7, 2018 at 2:36 PM
Tessa November 7, 2018 at 3:11 PM

I like 6.

Tessa November 7, 2018 at 3:14 PM

I figured I’d say why. Your shoulders are going to be bare, and the first one seems too austere to go with an off the shoulder look. It seems it would be a little too strict. The sixth is soft and would still keep everything bare, but at the same time, soften the lines a bit and make you look more approachable. :)

bev November 7, 2018 at 3:49 PM

I like them both. Definitely an updo to show off the neckline.

I didn’t see that Cheryl. I hate bad days.

Maryse November 7, 2018 at 4:18 PM

I love them both. I love ALL the updos on that page. HOLY MOLY I wish I had a daily hairdresser.

Leslie M November 7, 2018 at 4:49 PM

I love them all as well but if I had to choose between 1 and 6, I’d say 6 (Tessa made good points).

Susan November 7, 2018 at 4:50 PM

I’m a little late to the game. Just now checking in on the latest book releases. Just finished Heartbreak Warfare today and OMGosh that book gutted me but in such a good way, I hate to cry. Hate it but these tears were so good. Loved this book and literally could not put it down until I finished it. Can not stress enough how good it was. Now I’m trying to figure out what I need to read next. So many options.

Tasha J November 7, 2018 at 7:59 PM

Up Jumps the Devil by Michael Poore is on sale for 1.99 from 8.49. I’d never heard of it before (not romance) but it sounds super intriguing.

Maryse November 8, 2018 at 12:04 PM

I’m in LOVE with that dress Amy. That color is GORGEOUS. I’m tend to choose blues for myself too.

Amy November 8, 2018 at 3:39 PM

I agree, ladies. Number 6 is what I’ll go with. Very good points, Tessa…I don’t want to look unapproachable. ;)

Maryse! Speaking of pretty updos, try this one out:

I used this style A LOT before I had to cut my hair, and I always received compliments on it. It is so incredibly easy and holds all day.

Amy November 8, 2018 at 3:42 PM

“It was January 10th 2005.” ~ Binding 13 by Chloe Walsh

I am so fully invested in this book. Yes, it is long as hell but it does not drag by any means. To be honest, I’m actually a little scared of the angst y’all have been talking about because I’m so attached to Johnny and Shannon right now. Please be kind, B13… :?

Jan November 8, 2018 at 5:56 PM

“You isn’t to be hanged on Monday!” Ned declared.

from My One and Only Duke, a brand new shiny HR from Grace Burrowes. First in a brand shiny new series, and SFSG :D

R. Renee November 8, 2018 at 6:33 PM

FLT: “I’m going to kill him.” The Work Wife by CJ Martín.

Another ARC that I’m loving! And he’s a chef. #swoon! Leslie, I think this one may be for you. I’ll keep you posted on the release.

Nay November 8, 2018 at 8:58 PM

Amy–just for good measure, I would have also said #6. Have y’all seen those corset braids? Some of them are really wild looking when the hair has gradients of color.

I’m being lazy and copy/pasting Amy’s. And I’m looking forward to reading The Work Wife too!

Maryse November 8, 2018 at 9:34 PM

Annnnnnnnd I’m being lazy and copy/pasting Amy’s (and now Nay’s). And I’m looking forward to reading The Work Wife too!

“It was January 10th 2005.” ~ Binding 13 by Chloe Walsh

Maryse November 8, 2018 at 9:35 PM

Amy… I hope it’s not kind AT. ALL. ;)

Tessa November 8, 2018 at 10:45 PM

You’d think granted your heart’s deepest desire would make you blissfully happy, but I’m here to tell you; it ain’t necessarily so.
