THURSDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! LOOKIT WHAT JUST WENT LIVE!!! The Truth About Us (The Truth Duet Book 2) BY ALY MARTINEZ & the duet is now complete!!! :D  ➔➔➔➔➔

P.S. here’s book #1 (The Truth About Lies (The Truth Duet Book 1)) <— and it made Jennifer in our book crew lose it!!! She will finally get relief *snort* :P

Jennifer: This one is most definitely NOT fairytales and rainbows. It’s hard and sad and brutal with bits of sweet mixed in. If someone is looking for a happy read….this is NOT it! But man oh man it’s so gripping ….. I can’t seem to put it down.

and then…

Jennifer: I’m in tears, my heart is racing and now I have to wait until September 13th for the sequel. UGH. I’m dying….. These authors are killing me with these cliffhangers. This book RIPPED my heart out of my chest, put it in a blender then attempted to piece it back together alllllllll to be ripped to shreds again with A FRIGGIN CLIFFHANGER!

I need a blood pressure pill, vodka tonic and electroshock therapy IN THAT ORDER!

HAPPY NEW RELEASE TUESDAY!!! Actually, this may be the shortest new release list I’ve done in years (although next week’s release list is going to be amazing) but I will be keeping an eye out and adding more as I find them…

P.S. While you’re here, don’t forget to check out yesterday’s earlybirds, and a few fun posts:

LET’S READ!!!! :D !!!!

P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

  • Walk of Shame (Love Unexpectedly) by Lauren Layne <— UNREQUITED LOVE ALERT!! Putri recommends this one!!
Putri: if you do love unrequited love theme, then you must read Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne. It has humor, but it also got that hurts-but-feels-so-good feeling especially when the H underestimate the h all the time.

  • God of Rock series by Eden Butler <— ROCK STAR ALERT!! Tessa LOVED these!
Tessa: happy news. I read Kneel and Beg by Eden Butler over the weekend and OMG, It was SOOOO good. The first book was better than the second but not by much. The second was his POV. All sorts of angst and drama. Soooooo good.

  8. Bound to the Bear (Grizzlies Gone Wild) by Kathy Lyons
  9. Hell Sucks: A Reverse Harem Urban Fantasy (Selena Pierce Book 2) by Lucy Auburn

  1. Princess in Lingerie by Penelope Sky <— DARK READ SERIES ALERT!! I believe these should be read in order… “This woman used to be my slave. But now she means more to me. More than she should. I’ve done unforgivable things to her, treated her like livestock I bought at the market. Good morning! It barely hit 70 here yesterday and it’s only going to be 77 today. Loving this cooler weather, but I hope no one here’s in the path of the hurricane. We’re expecting a lot of rain from it.

Leslie M September 11, 2018 at 6:42 AM

Good morning! :)

I almost like a small Tuesday list…less to add to
Mt. TBR.

Nay!!! I have the perfect BR for us. The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker. Maybe we can read when Maryse reads!?!

Grey September 11, 2018 at 8:33 AM

*tosses glitter* gah, I’m so tired. I was up until 1 am reading. 5 came so early. Slowly getting back into my routine… I’ve got this. Football, cheer, dance…advisor, PTO, work, coaching…I’ve got this… *yawn*

Nay September 11, 2018 at 8:54 AM

Oh, wow, Grey! I’m tired just reading that! lol

Just posted to you on the GR thread before I saw this, Leslie. I’m GREAT with The Simple Wild!

Steph N September 11, 2018 at 9:57 AM

I saw on FB that Carian Coles new release is finally coming out 09-13!

Jean September 11, 2018 at 12:01 PM

Hi ladies! Been gone for a week and feel completely out of the loop!

I loved The Simple Wild Maryse and think you would love it too!

Just finished Bring Down the Stars by Emma Scott! Amazing! Yes, the cliffhanger is killing me but damn it was great! I’m in love with two guys!

Missed you guys! Somebody give me an update……bev?

Tasha J September 11, 2018 at 12:05 PM

Yes, how is the BR going? I know I added Binding 13 to my list a long time ago after someone mentioned it, but forgot about it. Now, I’m ready for a break from angst and heavy, I think. But, soon!

Theresa silverberg September 11, 2018 at 12:11 PM

While waiting for Aly Martinez to finish her duet and Emma Scott to finish up her, I played catchup. Reading Keep Her Safe by K A Tucker of course. I don’t want it to end but can’t read fast enough. It has so many twists and secrets. I can’t think of a thing that the book does not have in it for a perfect read. You must read every word or you might miss an important word or clue so slow read for me. I have been impatiently waiting for Simple Wild so must get this finished. Ahhh, too many books so little time lol.

Cheryl September 11, 2018 at 3:00 PM

Happy tuesday!! I can relate Grey; slowly getting back in work mode. Now off to back to school night! Tired.

bev September 11, 2018 at 3:36 PM

Jean there isn’t anything to really report.
Because no one comes and plays anymore.
It hurts, Jean.
Let’s see……

I tried to get everyone to watch TV with me and eat licorice.
They’ll eat the licorice, but won’t watch the tv.
It hurts, Jean.
R was very clear: “bev I dont watch tv.”
Then Sunday……
R,”Hey I just watched watched You. Everyone watch with me.”
It hurts, Jean.
Maryse told me, “bev I love long books.”
I tried to rec a book instead.
The Last Hour of Gan.
Maryse said,” OK. Let’s buddy read Jan’s rec Binding 13.”
It hurts, Jean.
R got wasted on Fireball.
Everyone compared the worst alcohol to throw up.
It hurts, Jean

It’s been a hurtful week, Jean.

Oh, Amy got a haircut.
I took pictures.

R. Renee September 11, 2018 at 3:37 PM

In my defense, I was drunk on Fireball so was I even really watching TV? It’s hard to say.

bev September 11, 2018 at 3:38 PM

Ok I just did that in the 4 minutes i had left on my break.
It’s a bit rough.

Tasha J September 11, 2018 at 3:42 PM

Lol, LOVE the cut- it’s so cute!! ;)

So, I finished Sadie. Tragic story. Loved how it was told, the podcast part was different.

And, last night I watched Alex Strangelove on Netflix. I hated the trailer and didn’t watch it Bc of that for the longest time, but it was SO good!

Jean September 11, 2018 at 4:01 PM

Blahahahaha! I knew I could count on you bev!!

Love Amy’s haircut! Lol!

Nay September 11, 2018 at 4:09 PM

Amy looks so chic!

Is anyone watching the Sons of Anarchy spinoff–Mayans MC? I watched it last week and LURVed! It’s on again tonight!

Maryse September 11, 2018 at 6:41 PM

OMG bev this is your best one ever!!!!!!!!!!

I die!!!! :P !!!!

Nay September 11, 2018 at 7:19 PM

Yes, bev, your musings are one of a kind! lol

bev September 11, 2018 at 8:15 PM

Lol, well I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Northernstar September 11, 2018 at 9:57 PM

A Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker was simply beautiful. I loved the description of the landscape. This story evoked many emotions and I love it when an author can make me feel so much. I lived in the North for many years and K.A. Tucker really got it right. I laughed out loud with the mention of the “honey bucket” – never thought I would read that – (If you have lived or travelled in the far North you know what I am referring to and if not ) you’re not missing anything – LOL. One of my top 2018 reads!

JR September 11, 2018 at 10:47 PM

I second Walk of Shame! It made my elusive 5* list!

Amy September 11, 2018 at 11:33 PM

OMG, that’s pretty much how I felt getting my hair cut, LOL!!!! Glad you all like it. *primps and pats hair* ;)

Seriously, bev…your updates are the BESTEST! They never fail to make me giggle.

Amy September 11, 2018 at 11:56 PM

And WOW! This really IS a short list. But I just had to click Yesterday is Gone. Second chance romance and a secret? It’s been done before but it’s almost always FUN. :D

Leslie M September 12, 2018 at 6:30 AM

I am one of those weirdos that cuts off all my hair, grows it out, cuts it again, grows it out. I am very lazy and prefer the ease of buns/ponytails where short hair requires styling. I do not like to fuss with hair, makeup or clothes. I’ve been in a “long” phase for awhile but am 99% sure I am chopping it soon. I have really bad hair because I color it so much. Maybe I need those vitamins you guys talk about? I have the feeling the minute I chop it, I will regret it.

Leslie M September 12, 2018 at 6:34 AM

We are starting a buddy read soon for The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker.

Please join us!!

Nay September 12, 2018 at 7:04 AM

I have my 18-month post transplant appointment today. Wish me luck!

At least they’ve gotten much easier–I don’t have to get the equivalence of a screwdriver jabbed in my neck anymore.

Maryse September 12, 2018 at 8:11 AM

Happy birthday to our wonderful book bud, Amy!!!! :D !!!!

*sets off the glitter cannon and pours birthday cake martinis for breakfast*

Maryse September 12, 2018 at 8:12 AM

bev September 12, 2018 at 8:16 AM

Good Luck!!

bev September 12, 2018 at 8:32 AM

Happy Happy Birthday!

I hope you have a wonderful day.

I hope your next year is filled with books that make you cry, the perfect nail polish, all the flavored vodka, and a trip to Hawaii.

Grey September 12, 2018 at 8:35 AM

It’s Amy’s birthday?!? Happy birthday, Amy!!!!! *sets off glitter cannon* *grabs case of sparkly watermelon wine* oh, it’s so good…just like our Amy!!! Wishing you the bestest day! Love you!! ❤

Amy September 12, 2018 at 5:32 PM

Amy September 12, 2018 at 5:40 PM

Nay…everything went well? I’m so glad to hear the appointments are getting easier. We like you better without a screwdriver in your neck. *gentle hugs*

Nay September 12, 2018 at 5:56 PM

Me too, Amy! lol

They told me I only have to get that done every 2 years now as long as I don’t get a questionable score on my AlloMap blood test.

What are you doing for your birthday?

Nay September 12, 2018 at 6:23 PM

Oooh, I just downloaded a great freebie!

bev September 12, 2018 at 7:32 PM

I feel like I’m on a reading streak and then….no.

bev September 12, 2018 at 11:05 PM

I’m very sad. My favorite kpop group just got rid of my favorite member. For dating. It’s so different compared to western groups.

Maryse September 13, 2018 at 6:18 AM

Aly Martinez’s duet is complete today!!! For us that one her, and were afraid of the cliffhanger, we can dive in now!! :D

Maryse September 13, 2018 at 6:19 AM

P.S. I had a dream, that me and Arianna Grande and another girl were all hanging out in Jamaica by a breezy beach and it was so gorgeous, and we found a cute shady spot outside where we were gonna sit and put on our makeup… LOL!!! WHAT? :P

Maryse September 13, 2018 at 7:44 AM

bev that’s so strange?!! For DATING????

bev September 13, 2018 at 8:47 AM

I’m going to spam you guys with the story.
Cause I have a cold, forgot my thermos of coffee, and a commute.
This is how I’ll amuse myself.

Plus, no one here. I have the house to myself.
*insert evil laugh*

bev September 13, 2018 at 8:51 AM

So one hot summer night bev discovered kpop.
In particular E’dawn of Pentagon and his Organic Song.
E’Dawn is the blond in the middle with 2 other members of Pentagon.
I now know he is my bias in the group.

bev September 13, 2018 at 8:56 AM

But who is this “Baby girl” he is singing about?
We now know it is Hyuna.

bev September 13, 2018 at 9:06 AM

So Pentagon are a rookie group and Hyuna debuted like 10 years ago.
They both are signed with Cube.
Hyuna is very successful and popular so Cube made a sub group of her and 2 members of Pentagon….Hui and E’Dawn.
This way she is lending her support to a rookie group.

So out came:

bev September 13, 2018 at 9:10 AM

Everyone was like…Whoa. Look at Hyuna & E’Dawn…..and poor third wheeling Hui.
That us some hot chemistry. Something is going on.
But others were all Nope. Just acting.
A rookie CAN NOT date. It would kill his career.
He hasn’t worked hard or long enough and still owes his fans….or something to that effect. It’s still hard for me to understand.
But Idols and their fans, especially Korean fans, have a different relationship than western artist.

bev September 13, 2018 at 9:31 AM

Then things started to turn against Hyuna.
As it does.
She was forcing too much skinship on the boys and they were uncomfortable.
Edawn told us he was a virgin.
The look on her face is priceless…..they’d already been a couple.
And see Hui wont answer about girlfriends because he is still a “rookie”

bev September 13, 2018 at 9:35 AM

Then Pentagon came out this summer with a hit song. Partly written and prominently featuring Edawn.

bev September 13, 2018 at 9:35 AM

To be continued…..maybe.

At work coffee in hand.

Nay September 13, 2018 at 9:53 AM

Today is National Peanut Day!

Michele G September 13, 2018 at 10:35 AM

Wow a lot happened since I was last here…

Happy Belated Birthday to Amy!

Glad to hear your appointment went well Nay!

Maryse, I love that you and Arianna Grande are such buds – - and you picked a great locale in Jamaica… to do your makeup …lol!

And I totally now think I may quasi understand Bev’s infatuation with kpop – - but seriously being fired for dating…I don’t think the fans want that either …crazy.

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Jean September 13, 2018 at 11:08 AM

FLT: It was January 10th 2005. (Binding 13)……

Jenn September 13, 2018 at 11:46 AM

FLT: “Lisa”! I roared into my empty bedroom.
The Truth About Lies-Aly Martinez.

Dying to read Binding 13 but still holding out till the second book is out.

I have friends in NC that refused to evacuate as they just moved there in June into their new house so praying they are kept safe. Not sure if anyone here is affected by it but if so please be safe.

R. Renee September 13, 2018 at 11:48 AM

FLT: “My date is late.” Tell Me You Love Me by S. Ann Cole

Beta-reading this one and loving it!

Nay September 13, 2018 at 12:48 PM

Whenever I’d thought about the way I was going to die, I never believed I would be lucky enough for it to happen in my sleep or to have a heart attack and pass away within minutes.
Animal by Marni Mann

Amy September 13, 2018 at 3:29 PM

*snort* That was great, bev. ;)

“Oak desks, scuffed from years of abuse and handy knife work, stand single file in the back of the dingy public library.” Rising by Jessica Ruben.

Yep, I’m jumping into the Vincent and Eve story to see what all the fuss is about. I was really liking Sadie, but it’s just not what I’m needing right now. But I definitely WILL be going back to finish it later.

Amy September 13, 2018 at 3:31 PM

All the Little Lights by Jamie McGuire is on sale for 1.99…can’t go wrong with a JM book. ;)

Amy September 13, 2018 at 4:35 PM

R. Renee September 13, 2018 at 4:36 PM

I made my husband watch that last night! (On the patio with tequila, so it doesn’t count as watching TV bev!) :D

bev September 13, 2018 at 6:10 PM

Yes! Yes it does.

Just for that I might have 10 more chapters of my kpop story.

Jan September 13, 2018 at 6:46 PM

“I find that a Ming bowl is like a woman’s breast,” Sir Lyndon Mather said to Ian MacKenzie, who held the bowl in question between his fingertips. “The swelling curve, the creamy pallor. Don’t you agree?”

Ian couldn’t think of a woman who would be flattered to have her breast compared to a bowl, so he didn’t bother to nod.

Hahaha. It’s from a very popular HR that I’m FINALLY getting around to reading: The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie by Jennifer Ashley. One of those everyone’s-read-it-except-me. It’s really good so far. The H is a hot Scot who seems to be somewhere on the Aspergers scale, and in the past was committed to an asylum for his supposed ‘madness’. Sounds like an unlikely premise for a HR, but it’s very well written and has been hugely popular.

Haven’t read it yet, but The New York Times picked up the Hyuna/E’Dawn story.

I love that Michele is quasi interested, lol.
Thank you.

R, it is my mission to have you all watch a k drama with me that comes out Oct 3. Well, if available. Even if I am slightly spoiled.

A mission I say.

Jan, that is a good book. Not sure why I never read the rest of the books about the brothers.

Is it subtitled? Because I drink copious amounts of booze when I watch TV on the patio. It’s a rule. Can’t break it.

FLT: “There are days when the urge to hurt, to kill, is too strong to be denied.” Keep Me (Twist Me #2).

I know I know. How dare I pop in with a FLT when I’ve been MIA? Life is crazy right now!

This series reminds me of Saving Rain & Captive in the Dark. Dark, twisted, but it’s working for me.

I also binged read the spinoffs from Jack & Jill series, by Jewel E Ann. And When Life Happened. One of my new favorite authors!

LOL Michelle G! Such a random dream, but a fun and super detailed one. Really realistic, ya know? Except… you know. For the hanging out with a pop-star in Jamaica thing. *snort* :P

I have gotten into a very unlikely romance novel. Based in WWII, and on a true story. 2 Families fleeing the war and finding love in the process against all the tragedy that was WWII. It’s very good. Thrown Upon The World by George Kolber, for the book site. I didn’t think it was going to be as good as it is, well worth it.
