Good morning! I’ve got coffee and No Tomorrow and I’m all set.
Good Morning All-
I’ve got coffee and No Tomorrow too 🙂
Good morning my book-loving friends. I too am pouring my 2nd cup and desperately trying to perk up. I am going to listen to audiobook while trying to get stuff done around the house. The Good Samaritan sounds interesting…reminds me of Poughkeepsie.
It’s funny that you should mention Poughkeepsie, Leslie. I re-dowloaded it a couple of days ago when I was looking for another book from your ATFavorites list (as I thought, I’ve already read Stepbrother).
I definitely started Poughkeepsie years ago, but I’m pretty sure I never finished it. It wasn’t that I didn’t like it–during that time, I read almost nothing but K.A. for several months, so when I got done with one, all I wanted was more K.A. or anything ‘like K.A.’ and I simply never went back to it.
Leslie EXACTLY what I was thinking about The Good Samaritan!!! Or also, a bit like “Finding Home”.
I loved both of them.
No coffee. I have got to start making more time in the morning. Otherwise I buy it and that’s a waste of $.
I wonder where Tessa is.
Lethal White came out so think that will be next for me.
Oh Nay, you have to go back to Poughkeepsie. It’s angsty and heartbreaking, perfect for you. Hee hee 🙂
I haven’t been able to bring myself to read any of the sequels because I love the characters too much that they make me a sobbing mess. I know that doesn’t make sense…I am not only a picky reader, but a weird one! Plus, they are dark and I have to be in the right headspace for that.
Maryse, have you read the series? Each foster brother has a book and there is prequel.
Leslie I read the first two… maybe also the 3rd but I’m not 100% sure. I’ll have to backtrack through my reviews.
Liane Moriarty’s new book, Nine Perfect Strangers, released today also! 🙂 I really wanted to read it, but I’m in a funk. And it’s all thanks to the lack of sleep and chaos that is my life right now. I have a constant headache every single day from it and I’m considering trying a Chiropractor for it. I’ve never been to one though. Would it be rude to ask if they’re sure they won’t snap my neck and kill me?
Jasper’s 4 month shots were yesterday and we’ve been miserable since. Anyway….(sorry for the whining ;)) I binged 2 seasons of Atypical (Netflix) over the weekend and I loved it. And I’m working my way through Jack Ryan (Amazon Prime) and I’m loving it too.
Oh thank you Tasha!!! I’ll add it. 😀
Maryse, one of these days I will read them. I especially want to read Poughkeepsie Begins and see how all the brothers started out. This would be fabulous series for Passionflix to do!!!
Tasha, try the chiropractor, it just may help. They won’t snap your neck. 😉
WHAT SHOULD I READ?? Nothing is giving me the feels. I want something where I connect with and care about the characters. Like Ghosted or Forever Right Now.
I started The Mason List. Have you read it, Leslie? It seems like one that’ll give plenty of feels.
I have been afraid to read The Mason List as it sounds Marmy-ish/heavy/depressing. You will have to let me know what you think.
I might actually try something from that TBR list Tasha had us make. I’ve already read 4 out 10.
Love Under Siege is another winner
I read 2 off mine! I’m not good with defining Marmy books. Bc they’re not all sad and depressing and I dk how to classify. Lol, but I’ll let you know.
No, 1 off of mine.
Thanks for sharing! Got Daddy Demands and Love Under Siege. Now to decide which one to start.
I just started Love Under Siege. I’m hooked already. I think I’m getting the plague and need to stay home from work for a few days.
Well, Goodreads sent an email that Nine Perfect Strangers was available now, but Amazon says not till November. What a tease! But, maybe I’ll be ready then.
Tasha! Did Sadie affect you like it did me? I’m STILL having the hardest time wrapping my head around that ending. I expected it to end one way or the other, but I was NOT expecting the way it did end. I’m just having a tough time sorting out how I feel about it. 😕
Alright! *rubs hands together* It’s close enough to Wednesday, so time to start the BR of No Tomorrow!! 😀 *dives into blankie fort*
Leslie, I loved The Mason List. I wouldn’t say it’s a Marmy, just emotional with some intense moments from what I remember. Especially in the “present” scenes when you don’t know what’s going on exactly. SUCH a great read.
Can’t wait to start Love Under Seige!!
Good Morning!
Amy-“No Tomorrow” here I come! *dives into blankie fort*
Thanks Amy. I won’t be as afraid of The Mason List now. Still a little afraid though as you have book reputation and all! 😉
I had an all-day edit thing yesterday, and I’m still just at 34% of No Tomorrow, so I’ll be reading along with y’all. I’m LOVing it! Blue reminds me SO much of a guy I used to date (except the guy I dated lived with his parents).
Love Under Siege by Samantha Kane????
Nay-I started at 4:10 this morning figured I would at least get a chapter in while I had my first cup of coffee and honest to God I was sucked right in and forgot all about going to work, I ended up 45 minutes late….I told my boss to blame it on “Blue”. I am loving it too so much! I am currently at 23%!
I just finished an audiobook I really liked!! 🙂 *happy dance*
Let’s Get Textual by Teagan Hunter
I needed something to perk me up and this was great! Excellent narration, hilarious dialogue, lot’s of sexual tension and an adorable baby goat! 4 ****
Also, I think after checking out the author’s Instagram, I might need to be her new BFF.
I did find the ending to be really good, Amy. It was unexpected and perfect. And I did really like the story, but it didn’t wow me. I think because it was one that I needed to read straight through and also because I had just finished reading Everything You Want Me to Be and that gave me all the feels and mystery and thrills and I probably should’ve read Sadie at another time.
Yay, Leslie!
Jenn–I know!!! If you’ve ever dated a guy remotely like Blue (which I did and whom I was crazy about), it will really suck you in.
Tasha–I feel for your funk. Hope it gets better soon! And if you find a good chiropractor, they can definitely help. I was always against using them until hubs had terrible back problems and we were at the end of our rope. His dr. used a treatment called Pulstar where he got a computer image of hubs’ spine and then used impulse therapy. From the image, we could see the red areas where his bones/cartilage weren’t lined up. It was really cool. That was probably 7 or 8 years ago, so for all I know, they all use that type of therapy, but hubs was thrilled that he didn’t have to have his ‘back cracked’. The dr. barely had to lay a hand on him and it really helped him.
Ok, now I am starting The Upside of Falling by Meghan Quinn. Its from my “Tasha TBR”. 😉
How far have y’all gotten? I’m at 41% and the angst is SO wonderful–my heart is about to beat out of my chest!
Nay-I am sadly at work and since I got here I keep sneaking back to it every change I get but only managed to get to 25%. Not sure about Amy…Maryse…Grey….Cheryl……?????
I’m about 2/3rds done with Professor Feelgood and am enjoying it!
I had to stop for a while, and I’ve got about an hour of reading time before the everyone gets home. This is one of those books that I don’t mind stopping because: a) I don’t want it to end; and b) I’m afraid to keep reading. At 54% and still loving it!
I’ve started it (I’m still in the “meeting” part) and I love it already!!! I love HER and her awkward self.
You need to slow down anyway so I can catch up!
I have seen a lot of buzz about No Tomorrow and how emotional it is. I read rockstar book by same author (Storm), and it was pretty low angst. It was sexy
& swoony and I really liked it, but it was not a tear jerker or tummy twister.
I love how you guys get so excited for your heart to be torn in shreds!!
It’s the best, Leslie!
Robin-Yes it is….The BEST-but Leslie don’t get me wrong I love very light hearted books too in fact I am 100% positive I’ll need you to recommend one to me when I’m done with this. I do love this book so much. I thought I could actually catch up to Nay but she’s still 20% a head of me.
Ok, crazy last couple days. Just starting No Tomorrow, even though I really could use a lighthearted read.
Who Is Love Under Siege by? Is it on this list??
OMG I’m cracking up over Jenn being late to work because of reading! LOL!!
Okay, I’m just now starting it. I got wrapped up in sorting and organizing my Kindle library last night, and today was insanely busy at work so no down time to read. Finishing up supper and then I’m all in! 😀
I’m back to reading at 55%. My guts are all twisty-turny, just like I love it–I want to read this forever!
OMG guys I just want to talk about this and I can’t-I need *hugs*, or maybe I just want to hug them….all of them…..Piper, Blue even Acorn! Still loving it sooooo much!
Amy-lol yes true story-glad you can finally start this!
Maryse-Yes she’s so awkward but awesome! So glad your loving it to!
Maryse, I love your blog. I download at least 5 books a month from your recommendations. So I’m reading No Tomorrow now and only 10% in, and like I said I read lots of books in this genre, but the scene under the bridge just rubbed me the wrong way. Given the cultural climate at the moment, there were elements of their hook up that did not feel consentual to me. If I’m going to be specific, the part where he “forces” her to kneel. I dunno maybe because Im so early in and at this point Piper seems very immature and sheltered/naive. Will keep reading because all the reviews have been amazing, but just don’t usually have such an “ick” response to sensual encounters and wondering if I’m alone in thinking this??
Will start No Tomorrows tomorrow as I just finished Dane’s Storm and need to bask in all the feels from such an amazing read!!
I’ve got to go to the dr in a bit, so I’m doing this now in case I forget. Feel free to copy and paste, lol.

No Tomorrow by Carian Cole (75% and I’m still looooooving it AND the emotional havoc!)
Anyone who loves angst or rock star books NEEDS this book in their life! Immediately!
Morning lovelies! This mom’s heart is hurting this morning. My girl has never, ever been down about going to school. She makes straight A’s, very sweet (all her teachers brag about what a great student she is and how helpful she is to other students). BUT this year apparently two other girls that she has known since kindergarten has decided that they do not like her and are apparently picking on her. She has never been in this situation – I am in momma bear mode. I just want to roar at these girls! I know one of the girls mom – she is a teacher at their previous elementary school. Should I reach out to her to make her aware? I would hope someone would tell me if my child was behaving that way. I feel like it is borderline bullying. Any ideas? Her tender heart is hurting.
Ugh DG… I hated elementary school for a few years. Same thing… mild bullying because I wasn’t cool like the cool girls. I looked young, had red hair and was so short, and the girls in my class wore makeup and tight jeans and teased their hair…
And don’t even get me started about the boys.
LOL NAY 🙂 Good Luck at the Dr.

No Tomorrow by Carian Cole-(50% and yes yes yes I’m still looooooving it too!)
Thx, Jenn. It’s just routine stuff–blood work, etc. No biggie.
The worst part is that I have to quit reading. I’ll be hoping they keep me waiting today just so I can get back to the book! lol
Sorry, DG–It sucks when your kids are hurting! How old is your daughter?
Hey Nay – she is eleven. First year of middle school.
DG, there is nothing worse than trying to deal with the pain of your child. I feel you…I have had issues with my son. I never know what to do because I don’t trust the school to properly handle it. Good luck and hopefully your daughter will get away from the mean girls and find nice, new friends. *hugs*

10 years old…”And what’s this?” I study the wings, the markings, the body of the aircraft.
The Upside of Falling by Meghan Quinn.
Stupid first line(s) but it’s an emotional story. I’m only at 38% and have already teared up few times. 🙁 I think its going to be super hurty. I have pretzel tummy…not sure why as I don’t even know spoilers.
*hugs back to Leslie*
FLT – “What in the world had I been thinking?” From Ice to Flames by A.M. Hargroves.
This book had a lot of hilarious moments …a mastiff named Dick, an adorable 5 yr old and a hot veterinarian. Very enjoyable book!
I’m so sorry DG. Girls are brutal at that age! 🙁
Ahhhh Leslie with the magic words! I’ve never read her because she usually writes romcoms!
*copies and pastes Nay’s FLT*
A menu sails across my desk and knocks over my paperclip holder.
No Tomorrow by Carian Cole (6% and I have zero time to read because I’m in full on writing mode! And tonight is FOOTBALL!!)
Okay wait…. I’m at 9% into “No Tomorrow” and while I’m hooked on it so far, I did NOT see that coming. I’m not sure… like?
Er… that didn’t seem very romantic to me… in fact, it was scary and crazy and whaaaaaaaa????
I mean… let’s dissect the reality of it. You know what I mean? That’s… GASP!!!
My FLT – just like Nays:
“A menu sails across my desk and knocks over my paperclip holder.
No Tomorrow by Carian Cole
(I’m at 9% and thoroughly confused by the extreme mood-change, and… stuff…)
DG, I feel for your girl and you too! My daughter also has had kids picking on her. Not a lot, but when it happens, steam comes outta my ears and I foam at the mouth. 😉 Being a parent in these situations blows. If it were me, I would absolutely say something to the teacher if you know her. But, I’m not sure it would make it any easier on your daughter.
I made an appt. with a chiropractor. I loathe going to the doctor and avoid it at all costs, but since u said they don’t always crack stuff, Nay, and I did something to majorly mess up a nerve or something in my back, I couldn’t wait. I hope it goes well.
I have no FLT at the moment. I’m playing a game where I jump from book to book to book and read a little and hunt for more. It’s not very fun, but I can’t stop. 😛
OMG, I’m at 85% and I wish it was 60%. It’s too close to the end!
Same first line as everyone else reading No Tomorrow. 😀
I’m only at 5%, but I love the writing so far and that’s more than I can say for the last couple of books I’ve read or attempted. And hey, I was at 5% with the last one I DNF’d so it’s promising.
So close to the 9% mark that has Maryse reacting that way, and I’m crazy curious as to what’s coming up…
Am I late to the party again? https://amzn.to/2xqakZw
DG…oh, sweet mama. I’m so sorry for you and your girl. Social bullying is so bad amongst girls, especially at that age.
It’s a tough situation because you’re trying to decide at what point to get involved so it doesn’t go too far, yet you don’t want to make it worse for her as well. Your poor baby is also hurting from not only being picked on but also the loss of her friends, who are now the ones inflicting this on her. Yes, I remember middle school well and it sucked.
Some schools have interventional meetings with the counselors when something like this is going on, and they can handle it tactfully without letting the other girls know that mom became involved. Maybe you could start with the school counselor and see what they feel is the best way to handle it?
Holy moly, R…what a find! And it’s FREE with Prime. CLICK!!!
I know it’s only a short story, but I’m so desperate for her to write anything that resembles romance, I’ll take it!
Short stories are perfect for in-between times!
Yes! And for making me feel better about my unrealistic GR reading goal!
OMG I want to be where Nay’s at cause I want to KNOW things….than I want to be where Amy and Maryse are at because they are at the beginning of it all and I don’t want it to ever end….I am still at the half way mark….
Better late than never!
OH MY GAH, BEV!! I just spotted Kristen Bell on Instagram saying a new season of Veronica Mars is coming to Hulu!!! I don’t have Hulu, but I will just for this! Ahhh :D. 😀 I don’t know when the new one will be out, but she says the old ones will all be on there by December 2019 to brush up.
Ok, we have a winner! It’s paperback, so here goes.. FLT- “ That boy works as a photographer for the Associated Press.” Dead Girls by Nancy Lee
So, 6th grade was the first, and only, fight I got into with my best friend.
Hopefully this us just a growing pain and the girls can all be friends again. It is so hard at that age. So hard.
I dont have Hulu either, but still excited. I feel like Maryse would really like Logan, BUT first she has to KDRAMA.
R, That is when the real party starts.
Besides the psychological one I’m looking forward to this one. I love the leads and it is based on a well loved movie I haven’t seen. Some are worried about the changes the adaptation is taking because it is so well loved.

Thanks all…I think this is going to be one of those one day at a time things. If it gets too bad or her grades start dropping then, I am definitely going to the school. One of her two teachers is aware and keeping an eye on things but sometimes things are said when adults are not close.
DG I feel for you and your daughter. Went thru similar events with my daughter and I’ve observed first hand as a school nurse. Girls can be catty and b!tchy. I’ve also noticed just because the girls were friends in elementary, doesn’t mean they stay that way in middle school. More definite likes and dislikes or academics and sports divide them. Also, throw in competing for the boys attention and it can be brutal. Have to say a big component is jealousy. One of the reasons my daughter choose to go to a different all-girls high school. Most schools do have a harassment, intimidation, bully policy. Would contact her school guidance counselor or school psychologist who can just be made aware so they can observe, watch, intervene in the school setting. Kinda a heads up that this is occurring and the impact on your daughter thus far. Chances are it may not be just your daughter that they are picking on.
FLT: No Tomorrow. I’m only at 4%.
Leslie I loved the “Upside” duet by Meghan Quinn. It totally surprised me because she’s usually the author I go to if I want an over the top rom com. This one was a well-written angsty book duet with the “feels.”
Cheryl, I just finished first book and *gasp* what a cliffy!! Diving into book 2 and avoiding spoilers. This is much different than her rom coms for sure.
I just finished No Tomorrow. I savored the final 30% of this book, and I’ve cried over and over. I just looked at my favorite books of this year to see where this ranks, and I loved this just as much as Drive, probably more. I loved it so much that I cried when I finished because it was over. This is just *my* kind of book.
I’m at 13% and is it wrong that I feel the most for the dog Acorn?? It was going ok and then, what did I just read??!! I feel for Blue and Piper, but I think we’ve entered crazy town.
RIGHT CHERYL????? RIGHT??!!!????
On the plus side I have a big bag of candy corn! 🙂
Cheryl and Maryse–it all comes out in the wash if you keep reading.
I lurve candy corn!!!
Cheryl-yes “Acorn” I’ve commented in here so much about my love for that fuzzy guy. Just love him!
I’m at 62% and although I want to finish this book like yesterday I am savoring it, treading lightly so to speak to keep these characters with me as long as I can.
Note to self: If Nay cries over a book and claims its her type of story….stay far, far away. 😉
LOL, Leslie!
Jenn–I did the same thing! It took me forever to finish it because I didn’t want to.
