Happy Monday book buds. :)

Only 21 more shopping days.

Lisa Aiello December 4, 2017 at 8:03 AM

Good morning, beautiful babes! Hope it’s a good Monday!

Tasha J December 4, 2017 at 8:13 AM

Morning! Looking forward to Roomies tomorrow! FYI- Rachel Schneider announced that she’s pulling all her books at the end of December to republish them at some point. She doesn’t know how long that will be. So, that’s Taking Mine, which I read and really enjoyed, Forfeiting Destiny, and Really F*cking Complicated (both on my tbr) I’ll have to grab them before they’re gone.

Amy December 4, 2017 at 10:20 AM

Leslie’s comment about shopping days just gave me anxiety. :?

OOH!! My makeup-loving friends…I went to Sephora this weekend and picked up the Urban Decay Troublemaker mascara. HOLY FREAKING MOLY!!!! I thought their Perversion mascara was fantastic, but THIS one is AMAZING!! Seriously, one swipe of the brush and it lived up to its promise of “super fat, super long” *snort* lashes. Now, the sex proof part? Errrrrr…didn’t try that out but I’m sure that lives up to its promise as well. ;)

Tessa December 4, 2017 at 10:54 AM

Right now sitting at an airport waiting to go home. So my Brin isn’t working yet. I clicked a lot of links but am too tired to say if any blurb is perfect or just the small one is. I have hopes for the vampire and Mafia book. Also that Cruel Kind of Beautiful looks intriguing. And the RC Stephen’s. Lol I can’t compute yet!

Leslie M December 4, 2017 at 11:05 AM

*scratches head in wonder of “sex proof” mascara*

Leslie M December 4, 2017 at 11:11 AM

Amy, have I been doing it wrong all these years? ‘Cause I gotta say, I’ve never have my eyelashes get mussed up during *ahem* “you know”. *waggles eyebrows and giggles*

Amy December 4, 2017 at 11:35 AM

Leslie…honey…EVERYONE should experience makeup-destroying sex in their lifetime.

Oh boy, this conversation could go south quickly… *giggle*

Amy December 4, 2017 at 11:39 AM

I have to say I am overjoyed with only having her POV in Until It Fades. I am so glad I don’t know what’s going on in HIS mind or where he is or anything else he is doing so that I can feel all the anxiousness and self doubt and excitement and wishing and FREAKING BUTTERFLIES that she is feeling.

Good lord, I can’t remember the last time I gushed over a book this way…

Maryse December 4, 2017 at 12:51 PM

I KNEW IT, AMY!!!!!!

THAT IS OUR KIND OF BOOK!!!! :D !!!!!

Leslie M December 4, 2017 at 1:35 PM

Until it Fades is on my best of 2017 list!! :)

So even though I disliked Drive, at least I loved some of the other popular ones.

Nay December 4, 2017 at 4:18 PM

Get out the glitter bombs–my test results came back and I’m not rejecting! I’m SO, so, so, so relieved! Thanks again, all of you for listening to me and being there with me!! Now I can resume living again because I feel like my entire life went on hold whilst (tee-hee) I was waiting.

What’s this about Until it Fades?! Only HER POV?? Is this a new Until it Fades or the old one??? If I haven’t read it yet, I’m reading it! And I’m giving First a shot. I’ll just have to overlook the typos.

Jean December 4, 2017 at 4:46 PM

These comments! Yes, I missed you guys! Getting over being sick and just busy!

Nay, that is excellent news!

I have Until it Fades but only in audio for some reason…what the heck?!? And i really want to read that one!

Jan December 4, 2017 at 5:22 PM

Wonderful news Nay! So pleased for you!

I’m starting Roomies today It’s the 5th here already tee hee and it’s rolled right into my kindle while I was sleeping.

Leslie M December 4, 2017 at 5:41 PM

*tosses all the heart shaped confetti for Nay*

So happy for you!!!

Cheryl December 4, 2017 at 6:56 PM

Nay, that is wonderful new!!! *big hug*

Gotta get me some of that super fat, super long…mascara!! LOL!!!!

bev December 4, 2017 at 7:37 PM

YaY!
Great news Nay. Maryse hug Nay for me.

Maryse December 4, 2017 at 8:07 PM

LOL bev!!!!!

Gladly!!!!!

*hugs Nay for bev*

*hugs Nay for me!* :D

P.S. You crack me up, bev. Makes me wanna snuggle you!!!

Tessa December 4, 2017 at 8:08 PM

Yeah, that’s awesome Nay! *big hugs* Does this mean you are in the clear?

MichelleS December 4, 2017 at 8:10 PM

Until it Fades, huh? Okay, okay I’ll go check it out…

I read the blurb. Sounds promising. I was a DNF for Driven… so… if I didn’t like that will I like this?

bev December 4, 2017 at 8:36 PM

I’m confused. What does Driven have to so with Until it Fades? Isn’t it the same author as Ten Tiny Breaths and Driven is the race car book by a different author.

That’s sweet Maryse. Tessa likes snuggles.
*pushes Tessa*

Where did you go Tessa?

Nay December 4, 2017 at 9:21 PM

Thanks, everyone!

Yes, Tessa, I’m in the clear!!!

Thanks for the indirect hug, bev! bwahaha

Tessa December 4, 2017 at 9:49 PM

*tugs Nay into the snugglefest* YEAH!!!!! No rejected organs!

Bev, I went to visit family in Orange County. It’s a short flight, an hour, but I didn’t sleep well last night. I’m allergic to Christmas trees, so my medicine was doing its job (at one in the morning!) and trying to keep my sinuses clear by making me cough a lot. :) That and woke up at 6 am.

bev December 4, 2017 at 10:20 PM

Ela just pointed out that Nay has never been to the Courtyard. How in 2017 is this even a possibility around here?
To reach the true inner sanctum of this blog you must walk through the courtyard.

Nay December 4, 2017 at 11:33 PM

Wha????????

Tessa December 4, 2017 at 11:38 PM

I’m sorry Nay. It’s true. :) You have to visit the Courtyard. Some people need to return *coughs excessively loud* MARYSE *coughs again*, but to have never have been is a travesty!

Kooloo December 5, 2017 at 6:15 AM

Yay Nay! *performs a jaw dropping Happy Dance*

Leslie M December 5, 2017 at 6:28 AM

Bev, Until it Fades and Drive by Kate Stewart (not to be confused w/Driven by K. Bromberg which I LOVED) have nothing to do with each other except that they are both popular. I loved UiF but felt like I was only one who didn’t love Drive. I hate that.

*high fives Michelle* UiF is NOTHING like Drive. Its a slow burn (but NOT boring) romance w/single mom & famous H.

Courtyard?? Written in Red? That is on my list of “to try PNR” when I ever get the PNR itch.

R. Renee December 5, 2017 at 6:41 AM

Is anybody awake who know what creamer you guys were talking about the other day? I can’t find it. Someone mentioned a sugar free one?

Tasha J December 5, 2017 at 7:19 AM

I dk if it’s the right one, but I think everyone was talking about International Delight’s peppermint mocha. Maybe they make one sugar free?

R. Renee December 5, 2017 at 7:20 AM

Yes! Thanks Tasha. I remember it was peppermint mocha but I couldn’t remember the brand.

Nay December 5, 2017 at 7:26 AM

Robin–I mentioned sugar free french vanilla Great Value from Walmart, International Delight and Dollar General brand. I love them all!

R. Renee December 5, 2017 at 7:27 AM

Which ID do you like? I don’t have a walmart that close to me.

bev December 5, 2017 at 7:46 AM

Ok, then I have the Until it Fades by KA Tucker. I am not sure if I have the Stewart one. I am not sure if I have read one of hers yet.

bev December 5, 2017 at 7:50 AM

I just adore Written in Red. I read it and then basically re read it when it came out.
It had a pretty big fan club here with Tessa, Michelle, and I. We kind of went nuts over it.
Then it became a mission to get Maryse to read it, lol. Ah, good times.

bev December 5, 2017 at 7:52 AM

Tessa everyone is probably reading this thinking, ” Not @$%!#$ WiR again!”
Lol.

Leslie M December 5, 2017 at 7:55 AM

Bev, I am not the greatest judge of your taste but I know you are hard on the h’s. I suspect you won’t love Drive because of the love triangle aspect.

The thing I really loved about Until it Fades is too spoilerish to say.

Tasha J December 5, 2017 at 8:33 AM

R., I myself, loathe peppermint, but I’ve had the ID caramel macchiato and it’s delish. Also, the French vanilla and Irish cream. I haven’t had drip coffee to add creamer to in ages, but last year at this time we got on a kick of skipping creamer and adding egg nog (I previously hated egg nog all my life) and it was awesome!

Cheryl December 5, 2017 at 9:35 AM

I’m reading On The Way To You and so far it has all the feels and I am loving it. It is not an insta-love and at first they annoy each other and some days don’t even talk. Initially, I wasn’t loving the h because she seemed wishy-washy, weak and so naive. The two end up traveling cross-country and I think the h, who has never left Alabama, grows stronger as she experiences life on the road and meets other people that somehow she or both of them need. The H has some major issues that are making my tummy twist, knowing the angst is going to explode. Hope it continues to be great. *fingers crossed*

bev December 5, 2017 at 9:38 AM

Ooh, that sounds good Cheryl. I love a road trip trope and slow burn.

Jean December 5, 2017 at 10:10 AM

I loved WiR and its not my normal genre! I did it for bev! I have book 3, but not the 2nd so i haven’t continued even though i want to.

I’m reading A Love Letter to Whiskey!! Loving it! Who was it here who suggested it? I think it’s gonna hurt real bad…

bev December 5, 2017 at 10:17 AM

And I was so happy.

Cheryl December 5, 2017 at 10:48 AM

Jean, that’s the same author of the book I’m reading. I think this one is going to hurt real bad too.

Maryse December 5, 2017 at 10:58 AM

Now I’m craving that, Tasha…

YUM!!!!

Maryse December 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM

Until It Fades and Drive don’t have anything to do with the other… other than they both have that awesome “old-school indie” feel. Until it Fades is not that angsty, but explores all sorts of exciting “famous guy-normal girl” possibilities, and has the perfect slow burn.

Drive on the other hand, is an extremely emotionally angsty love triangle and all – and it “goes there” (kindle-throwing there) a few times.

LOVE LOVE LOVE BOTH!!!

Tessa December 5, 2017 at 11:06 AM

R! Coffeemate has a great SF peppermint. Everyone was talking about International Delight peppermint being the best, but the ID SF peppermint is nasty. Coffeemate’s is far better.

Yeah, We told Bev not to read Drive. :)

Cheryl December 5, 2017 at 11:06 AM

I read Until It Fades. I can’t remember what exactly I said in my comments here to Marsye, but it was not a five star for me. Sometimes I actually wish I reviewed or at least commented on every book I add to my GR list. * not the best memory*

Cheryl December 5, 2017 at 11:06 AM

Maybe that’s my goal for 2018! ;)

Cheryl December 5, 2017 at 12:16 PM

And yes Amy, this book has a makeup-destroying sex! Hope she was wearing Troublemaker mascara.

“My mascara stained his chest, wet from my eyes watering, and I wiped it away with one thumb.”

Amy December 5, 2017 at 12:18 PM

YAY NAY!!!! I’m so thrilled for you and your healthy heart!! *huge hugs*

And now that you have the all clear, you will definitely need to pass through the courtyard. Or else bev will bite you.

Also, Nay, you should still give First a shot despite my reaction to it. I loved the first part, but the problems I had with it were mostly in the last 25% or so which dropped it to my “only liked” category. So many others here loved it, and I’m definitely in the minority. ;)

Amy December 5, 2017 at 12:25 PM

*fans self* Nope Cheryl, she was most certainly NOT wearing Troublemaker mascara! *giggle*

And I agree with Maryse’s summaries of Until It Fades and Drive. UiF is butterflies-on-crack-in-the-tummy exciting and Drive is all kinds of angst and emotion, but BOTH took me back to the indie days I miss so much.

MichelleS, Driven was a DNF for me as well but Drive was one of my favorites of the year.

Leslie M December 5, 2017 at 12:29 PM

A Love Letter to Whiskey has always been in back of my mind but something has been stopping me. Jean, you will have to let me know if its too “hurty” for me.

Eggnog in coffee? Sounds delish!

Cheryl, I have worst memory and don’t write reviews. I need to get better at making notes. Drives me crazy when someone says “what exactly didn’t you like about the book” and I can’t remember. So embarassing.

Amy December 5, 2017 at 12:36 PM

Love Letter to Whiskey was a go-back-later for me. I think I was in an annoyable (yes, I’m making that a word) mood so her constantly saying Whiskey was annoying me.

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:51 PM

Amy, Whiskey was good but not my crazy-love kind of book. Has angst of course, but I didnt feel it as much as some.

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:54 PM

*gasp*!!!!!

*just read that Amy only sort of liked First*

*faints*

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 8:59 PM

Hey I wanna talk about Mascara!!!!!!

Okay so my favorite has always been Yves St. Laurent “Effets Faux Cils” but OMG I was seeing this pharmacy cheapie mascara raved about non stop on my Facebook feed, and it looked like a copy of Too Faced or something… I can’t remember (I’m reALLY picky about mascara ’cause my lashes are naturally NOT lush and dark – more like transparent and meh) so anyway, I bought it.

I loved it right from the start. This is my new holy grail:

L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise (Blackest Black) I get the washable one. I’ve never been able to deal with waterproof.

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 9:00 PM

*faints again at Cheryl’s “meh” comments about Until It Fades*
;)

Maryse December 6, 2017 at 9:01 PM

*faints at Tessa’s non-love for International Delight Peppermint*

Wait? What’s SF Peppermint? I was loving Peppermint Mocha.

SF Peppermint sounds not so great. :/
