<— OMG today… and the new “surprise” book releases that are suddenly LIVE!!! Wow. Sunday, which is an awesome day in its own right, but pretty much to the start of our Thanksgiving week, which means AWESOMENESS! And now THESE books. I’m so happy!

I’ve also just started a new book (this morning) and it’s a book that came highly recommended in yesterday’s “Reader Favorites” list (Reader Favorites – Yvette’s Top Favorite Books List), and then suddenly I had a few more adamant recommendations for it. So… this (The Man I Love) is the one for me today. How can I possibly resist? It sounds like it’s gonna rock my book-world, and therefore… I must!

Here are today’s NEW RELEASES :D :

  1. Poughkeepsie Begins (The Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series Book 4) by Debra Anastasia <— JUST WENT LIVE!! IT IS THE PREQUEL… and can be read FIRST if you haven’t read the others in the series, yet. Acts as a standalone (and y’all know how much I LOVED “Poughkeepsie”). One of my FAVORITES EVER! Here’s my review of Poughkeepsie from back in 2011. Lauren is excited!! “Whaaaaat!?!?!? How did I NOT know a new Debra Anastasia Poughkeepsie book comes out tomorrow? Poughkeepsie Begins (The Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series Book 4)!! Can not wait!
  2. Treat Me (One Night with Sole Regret Book 8) by Olivia Cunning <— SHE’S IN LOVE WITH A ROCK STAR SINGLE FATHER (and HER sister is his ex-wife…) *gasp*Amanda Lange wouldn’t mind filling the vacancy in Jacob’s life. She adores his daughter, her only niece, and she’s had a most inappropriate crush on Jacob for years. Their time together as a new couple and with four-year-old Julie in tow is everything she’s been dreaming of. And as her infatuation turns into something much more substantial, she starts to believe they were meant to be together. And not just herself and Jacob, but Julie too. The three of them make a perfect family. Unfortunately, Jacob comes with some baggage. His exwife is Amanda’s sister…”
  3. Ninja At First Sight: An Origin Story (Knitting in the City) by Penny Reid <— PENNY REID ALERT!! “Greg and Fiona’s “origin story”. Prequel standalone novella for Knitting in the City book 5″
  4. Surrounded By Knight by A.N. Hennessy <— ROCK STAR ALERT! TWO SISTERS GO ON TOUR WITH A FAMOUS ROCK BAND… “An offer is made that neither one of them can refuse, and lands them the opportunity to travel with the infamous rock band, Knight Raiders. One thing Izzy didn’t count on is another wish to yearn for in the form of Trevelin Knight…”
  5. Heart of the Music (Saints & Sinners Book 1) by Kaithlin Shepherd <— ROCK STAR ALERT & his publicist keeps refusing his advances! For five years, she has kept her attraction to Jarrod under wraps, enduring his endless supply of women, but one day when locked in an elevator, revelations are made that could change it all…
  6. Never Tap Out (Book One in the Life of a Fighter Series) by Victoria Prince <— SHE’S A FIGHTER…Kate follows her mother’s advice to “never tap out”, no matter what life throws at you. Between her circle of family heartache, a handsome fighter named James tries to shake up Kate’s emotions even more. He’s determined to prove his worth to her and give her a reason to smile again…
  7. Paradise Road by C.J. Duggan <— LOVE TRIANGLE ALERT! Between her bad boy surfer and her sexy boss bartender……when Lexie arrives in Paradise City to work out if her future includes bad-boy surfer, Luke Ballantine, he is nowhere to be found. With no home, no money and no Luke, Lexie gets a job slinging drinks at the wild Wipe Out Bar. Soon her heartache is eased when broody bar owner, Dean Saville, starts taking an interest and stirs more than just her drinks. But nothing is ever as it seems in Paradise City and when Luke Barrels back into town…
  8. agony by Yolanda Olson <— SOUNDS LIKE A DARK READ ALERT! It’s only a little over 100 pages, but there’s something about this one that’s calling me. She moves to NY hoping to get a job as a director’s assistant and is tricked and finds herself working in the porn industry… “Neve finds her days are full of awkward moments, stress, uncomfortable shoots, and wishing for nothing more than to be back home. Until she meets Arsen Caldwell. Arsen hides his secret from Neve for as long as he can and helps to get her transferred to another company where she lands a job with Jareth Vance of Golden Hills Media. Jareth sees a potential star in Neve, but she doesn’t know that her first starring roll could possibly be her last...” <— Eeeeeeep!!!! I’m SO curious about this one.

She wants to try a new job (her agent’s assistant!!) for a little bit and hides who she really is from everyone… “When Sam finds that one of her first assignments is to work covertly on her own award ceremony, she’s forced to keep up appearances—especially when she’s teamed with the agency’s handsome new author…
  10. Falling to Pieces by Leddy Harper <— RECENT STUDENT-TEACHER RELEASE!!! “But by reaching out to protect her—to mend her breaks and soothe her wounds—Axel has crossed a dangerous line, resulting in two shattered lives instead of just one…”

I’m boarding a plane. If we crash and perish, let me say THANK YOU!!

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 12:13 PM

Nope. No crashing!!! You’re going to have a great and happy trip, and if you’re lucky, maybe the airline employees will do a song and dance on your plane that will go viral. :D

I am there with “The Man I Love!” I am struggling to get through “Untamed” by SC Stephens. I really do not like Griffin – he was amusing in small doses, but in this book he is such an a**. I like a good book jerk, but I don’t like stupid idiots. I am only 25% in and hoping it turns around. Anyone read this yet? Tell me I am being judgy and need to keep reading. Please!

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 12:52 PM

I haven’t read it yet Sharon… and in fact, I even worried about how I would perceive him in his book, so I haven’t jumped in yet.

Anyone else?

Theresa November 22, 2015 at 1:03 PM

Sharon, i read Untamed. I really hated how it started out as well. What a fool! Finish it, he went through allot I didn’t expect. He does good! Don’t want to spoil.

Grey November 22, 2015 at 1:30 PM

So lazy today. Started a book last night.. Here with me (The Archer Brothers – Volume 1) by Heidi McLaughlin. It’s free on Amazon right now.

This is the book jolt that grabbed me… Ryley Clarke has grown up with the military in her blood, with both parents serving their country. Ryley knows the risks of being married to the military. But when the unthinkable happens, and her future husband is killed in action, Ryley can barely survive… until Evan’s twin brother, Nate, helps her pick up the pieces.

After serving on a special mission with the military for six years, Evan Archer returns home to find the unthinkable – the love of his life, Ryley Clarke – engaged to his brother, Nate. With Nate on deployment, Evan needs to figure out what happened in his absence, and more importantly, how to win Ryley back from the man he once considered his best friend, but now thinks of as his rival.

yikes, if that doesn’t just punch you in the gut…

Anyway, anyone read it?

Hope you’re all well! Thanks as always Maryse!

Sharon November 22, 2015 at 1:54 PM

Thank you Theresa! You gave me Griffin hope!

Fabi November 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM

I just finished reading From Scratch by Rachel Goodman. It was the perfect Sunday read. Full of southern charm and feisty characters. I love Lillie and Nick. I love the self discovery and growth they experience. I especially loved the second chance orchestrated to give them the opportunity for it. They were the main characters, but their supporting cast are so well developed that they easily stand on their own and make distinct footprints in the story.

So well written. It was a real pleasure to read.

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 2:14 PM

Wow I think I need that one, Fabi!

Sounds like the “feel” of Hollywood Dirt (feisty, Southern charm, just a bit of angst and hilarious circumstances ’cause of the supporting cast of characters). YES!!!! :D

bev November 22, 2015 at 2:53 PM

These Old Shades is on sale!!!! YAY! Not a huge sale but around half off and so ONE CLICK. LOVE these characters.
Burn for Me is also on sale—great read & start to a series.

Teri November 22, 2015 at 5:19 PM

Sharon I am with you. I could barely stand Griffin in the series except as comic relief and I can’t imagine him as romantic lead.

Jean November 22, 2015 at 5:23 PM

I read Untamed and although I struggled in the beginning, it really did get better. And I loved how it ended!

My girlfriend read the Archer Brothers books 1 and 2 and loved them. They sound really good to me Grey!

I’m reading The Soulmate right now by Madeline Sheehan….so different for me and I’m really liking it!

Lisa November 22, 2015 at 6:42 PM

Thanks all for the updates/reviews on Untamed. I was wondering what the thoughts were about this book as I can’t imagine falling for Griffin. He always seemed quite repulsive in Thoughtless etc. I liked the sister though so I’m gonna give it a go.
Reading Some Sort of Happy which is sweet. Had to give up on my happy hooker in Nine. I’m struggling to find my ‘just go with it’ vibe. It was all a bit bleh.
Think I need to stick with sweet, heartfelt and marginally believable for a bit.
Might try Poughkeepsie as I missed that last year.

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 8:02 PM

Mine is pretty good so far, but I realized it’s yet another almost 500 page book. Tee hee!!! Which is good in regards to characters and story development.

I’m still in the “getting to know them/each other” stage.

Sharon November 22, 2015 at 8:12 PM

I am book fickle today! I was ready to kick Gtiffin to the corner and read “The Man I Love.” But then I saw the blurb to 18. I need to read this one. Nice blurb jolt!

marina November 22, 2015 at 8:23 PM

I’m reading 18 right now. Way different vibe than other student/teacher books. At 50%, sticking with it but also trying to figure out what to read next. Corrupt really put me on this creepy/power vibe and it’s hard to shake. I’m intrigued by The Man I Love. Can’t wait to read your review Maryse!

Lauren November 22, 2015 at 8:57 PM

Paradise Road is a sequel to Paradise City….I haven’t read em but they sound intriguing.

bev November 22, 2015 at 9:08 PM

Just saw MiF(Marked in Flesh) has a release date of March 8!!!!
Hey, Maryse you know what isn’t an “almost 500 page book”?

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 9:18 PM

*pops another red peanut in her mouth…*

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 9:19 PM

Ooooh she has to cut herself for visions??!!!

This is the first time I read the blurb. It sounds… gooooooood.

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 9:21 PM

‘kay I just one clicked it.

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 9:25 PM
bev November 22, 2015 at 9:41 PM

Ok, just “This is the first time I read the blurb.”<—- This. This made me laugh. Oh, my.
And now, Whoot!!!
But also nervous. I loved it (obviously) but I can see why some didn't, you know?

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 9:49 PM

I’m good if it’s kinda dark… I’m good if it’s anything. I trust the writing, and if the writing is good, I’m in.

fabi November 22, 2015 at 9:52 PM

“…some didn’t” whaaaaat?

bev November 22, 2015 at 10:03 PM

Now I don’t agree with them, but……

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 10:06 PM

I’m so curious what some didn’t love it, for…?

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 10:20 PM

I JUST HIT AN OMG PART in the book I’m reading. “The Man I Love”

Michelle November 22, 2015 at 10:28 PM

*fingers crossed* hope WiR isn’t another ‘Illuminae’ for ya Maryse ;)

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 10:30 PM

Tee hee!! Michelle. I haven’t given up on Illuminae. I wasn’t far enough into it to give-up officially…

I guess the format just threw me off somewhat… but too many love it for it not to be absolutely awesome.

bev November 22, 2015 at 10:32 PM

Being to slow. To much day to day details. That Meg is to much of a Mary Sue to be interesting.
For me I was glued to every word, lol.
Different strokes…

Michelle November 22, 2015 at 10:38 PM

I’m reading one off my TBR, Wild Reckless, which is good so far. Didn’t finish Land of the Beautiful Dead yet which I was loving…I needed something not so intense for today.

I never squeed over Queen of Shadows either – thought it was the best book in the series and Rowan is just *fans myself* MichelleS, have you read this series? If you want a new hunky fae to drool over, get on it!

Michelle November 22, 2015 at 10:44 PM

*fingers double, triple crossed* if you delve back into Illuminae don’t tell me because I will have an ulcer worrying if you end up liking it! It was so SO awesome for me that…*shrugs* Fabi gets it at least ;) And WiR now…Bev what will we do if Maryse hates it?!

bev November 22, 2015 at 10:56 PM

fabi November 22, 2015 at 10:57 PM

I just finished If Only in My Dreams by Keira Andrews.

That’s 3 books for me this weekend. Woot! (too bad only 1 was from my BEoYL list). Ha! I’m so ADD with my reading.

So, next…will it from my BEoYL list? I don’t know because I’m super tempted by The Last Hour of Gann which has been on my tbr “foheva”. I was almost decided on that one when Michelle had to go mention Wild Reckless. I’ve been meaning to read that one ” next” for so long that sometimes I forget I haven’t read it yet. ..and OmG, I just remembered that I recently downloaded a Scott Time Traveler and have been dying to try that out. I still can’t help but think of MichelleS every time I run across one of these.

I’m definitely starting another one tonight. Everyone went to sleep early, so I don’t want to turn the TV on and disturb anyone.

Oh my! Decisions, decisions…

fabi November 22, 2015 at 11:00 PM

Michelle…I will forever owe you for getting me to read Illuminae sooner rather than later. It instantly became my “All Time Favorite” book.

Please note those are pretty strong words from us who’ve read thousands of books in our lifetimes.

Yes, it is #1 in my “all time favorites” list. —Incomparable— Not even the classics measure up.

bev November 22, 2015 at 11:08 PM

Whoa, fabi. Those are strong words.
I’ve noticed that in the top most of my favorites a few of the books have strong memories or feelings attached that keep them there.
I’m so close to a hundred books. *sigh* can’t believe how happy I am to just reach 100.
I have two I’m deciding between too. Unwrapped by Maisy Yates or My Fair Concubine by Jeannie Lin. Hmm. I like both covers. :-)

Maryse November 22, 2015 at 11:31 PM

bev November 23, 2015 at 12:03 AM

Pretty sure I have absolutely no followers on that. And I’d probably last a day at most.

Michelle November 23, 2015 at 5:28 PM

Boycott – yeah for a day and then I would cave :D

Whoa Fabi your all time fav! I’m not good at ranking…probably why I haven’t submitted a favorite list since it would have maybe 30 books for my ‘top 10′, a lot of ties ;) but Illuminae is definitely in there!

Wild Reckless I’m enjoying a lot and all the ‘feels’. The surprise with her ‘blank’ and ‘blank’ ick icky ickville!

Fabi November 23, 2015 at 6:47 PM

I couldn’t narrow my favs down to 10 either. I sent in 24. I have 25 now. :-)

hmmm. Wild Reckless I don’t know what to make of your feedback. lol

I started the Scott Time Traveler last night but dnf’d it today. Started Dark Blood. I didn’t realize I was 2 books behind on the Carpathian series. Ugh. I didn’t even have it on my EoY list. *shakes head* Can’t keep up.

I worked too much this year. It really cut into my reading time. I already know my New Year’s Resolution is to work less and read more next year.

Fabi November 23, 2015 at 6:48 PM

Michelle, send in your top 30. I’d love to see them.

Maryse November 23, 2015 at 7:15 PM

Please Michelle!!!! DO IT!!! We want it… send 30 if you want, I’m good with that! :D

Michelle November 23, 2015 at 7:22 PM

Haha ok but I probably won’t have time to sit down and think about it for a bit with my work schedule. Top 30 – I could do that I think without stressing too much ;)

fabi November 23, 2015 at 7:27 PM

Yes! *dances little jig* I’ve been waiting forever for your list. You, you…hold out, you. ;-)

bev November 23, 2015 at 8:34 PM

Fabi & Michelle, mentioned it before but in Feb the 3rd Captive Prince trilogy will finally be released. I’m going to re read the first 2 in Jan. They are pretty intricate and a bit dark. I think you two would enjoy them. Think about it for br at least with #1? They are a bit $$ right now but maybe sale closer to release day.

fabi November 23, 2015 at 8:41 PM

Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat?

Tessa November 23, 2015 at 8:41 PM

OMG, please send your top 30 Michelle. You know I’d go nuts for that list.

bev November 23, 2015 at 8:53 PM

That’s it Fabi.

Definitely send it in Michelle.

Tessa November 23, 2015 at 9:15 PM

*stomps in*
*grabs Manny and stomps into blankie fort*
*cuddles Manny and sobs*

Maryse November 23, 2015 at 9:30 PM

*scrolls up*

bev November 23, 2015 at 9:41 PM

Why you got your stomping boots On Tessa?

Tessa November 23, 2015 at 9:46 PM

It’s SAD! And and and, there’s going to be more sad! This series tricked me with giggles and fighting and and and, now sad! Sure, a few sniffles at the start, but I was prepared for those. Not this.

Yeah, it’s good though. Nola’s Own series by Jean Kelli. (Who has an awesome name due to my love of Gene Kelly.)

bev November 23, 2015 at 9:50 PM

Gene Kelly!!!!

bev November 23, 2015 at 9:52 PM

You know what it really was Maryse? She was completely overwhelmed that you one clicked WiR. And read the blurb. It was just too much excitement.

Maryse November 23, 2015 at 10:23 PM

OH NO!!!!!!

I bet that’s it!!!!!

Maryse November 23, 2015 at 10:58 PM

Update on The Man I Love…

she’s a remarkable writer. The story is amazing.. the first 20% I was getting used to all of the characters and the feel of it (and her writing was very eloquent, mature and kind of… BIG, and it was taking a bit for me to fit into the story) but now?

HOLY MOLY she is good. This is as real as it gets. I LOVE IT.

bev November 23, 2015 at 11:24 PM

Can’t wait to read your review. Looks like a lot of people love it around here.

fabi November 23, 2015 at 11:32 PM

Bev, I have the first one in the top ten of my tbr so I’m definitely in for the BR.

*hands Tessa a Kleenex* THEN *hugs Tessa*

Tessa November 23, 2015 at 11:37 PM

*blows nose* The book is back to not so sad now. Thank you Fabi. *hugs back*

Maryse November 24, 2015 at 12:07 AM

*wipes off Manny* (‘lil sponge bath)

Here Tessa… just in case. ;)

Tessa November 24, 2015 at 2:29 AM

Finished. He needs another sponge bath. It was sooooo good. Literally I didn’t just cry. I laughed out loud (which got me a few odd looks), felt angst, steamy hots, hug yourself in happiness, and even fear. At the end, though, I was giggling and hugging happy. Also, one of my favorite things to see, as the books progressed, the writing got better. I love seeing an author grow that way. Super huge recommendation.

*goes off to clean poor Manny*

bev November 24, 2015 at 8:23 AM

Yay, Fabi. :-)
