<— OMG today… and the new “surprise” book releases that are suddenly LIVE!!! Wow. Sunday, which is an awesome day in its own right, but pretty much to the start of our Thanksgiving week, which means AWESOMENESS! And now THESE books. I’m so happy!
I’ve also just started a new book (this morning) and it’s a book that came highly recommended in yesterday’s “Reader Favorites” list (Reader Favorites β Yvetteβs Top Favorite Books List), and then suddenly I had a few more adamant recommendations for it. So… this (The Man I Love) is the one for me today. How can I possibly resist? It sounds like it’s gonna rock my book-world, and therefore… I must!

I’m boarding a plane. If we crash and perish, let me say THANK YOU!!
Nope. No crashing!!! You’re going to have a great and happy trip, and if you’re lucky, maybe the airline employees will do a song and dance on your plane that will go viral. π
I am there with “The Man I Love!” I am struggling to get through “Untamed” by SC Stephens. I really do not like Griffin – he was amusing in small doses, but in this book he is such an a**. I like a good book jerk, but I don’t like stupid idiots. I am only 25% in and hoping it turns around. Anyone read this yet? Tell me I am being judgy and need to keep reading. Please!
I haven’t read it yet Sharon… and in fact, I even worried about how I would perceive him in his book, so I haven’t jumped in yet.
Anyone else?
Sharon, i read Untamed. I really hated how it started out as well. What a fool! Finish it, he went through allot I didn’t expect. He does good! Don’t want to spoil.
So lazy today. Started a book last night.. Here with me (The Archer Brothers – Volume 1) by Heidi McLaughlin. It’s free on Amazon right now.
This is the book jolt that grabbed me… Ryley Clarke has grown up with the military in her blood, with both parents serving their country. Ryley knows the risks of being married to the military. But when the unthinkable happens, and her future husband is killed in action, Ryley can barely survive… until Evan’s twin brother, Nate, helps her pick up the pieces.
After serving on a special mission with the military for six years, Evan Archer returns home to find the unthinkable – the love of his life, Ryley Clarke – engaged to his brother, Nate. With Nate on deployment, Evan needs to figure out what happened in his absence, and more importantly, how to win Ryley back from the man he once considered his best friend, but now thinks of as his rival.
yikes, if that doesn’t just punch you in the gut…
Anyway, anyone read it?
Hope you’re all well! Thanks as always Maryse!
Thank you Theresa! You gave me Griffin hope!
I just finished reading From Scratch by Rachel Goodman. It was the perfect Sunday read. Full of southern charm and feisty characters. I love Lillie and Nick. I love the self discovery and growth they experience. I especially loved the second chance orchestrated to give them the opportunity for it. They were the main characters, but their supporting cast are so well developed that they easily stand on their own and make distinct footprints in the story.
So well written. It was a real pleasure to read.
Wow I think I need that one, Fabi!
Sounds like the “feel” of Hollywood Dirt (feisty, Southern charm, just a bit of angst and hilarious circumstances ’cause of the supporting cast of characters). YES!!!! π
These Old Shades is on sale!!!! YAY! Not a huge sale but around half off and so ONE CLICK. LOVE these characters.
Burn for Me is also on sale—great read & start to a series.
Sharon I am with you. I could barely stand Griffin in the series except as comic relief and I can’t imagine him as romantic lead.
I read Untamed and although I struggled in the beginning, it really did get better. And I loved how it ended!
My girlfriend read the Archer Brothers books 1 and 2 and loved them. They sound really good to me Grey!
I’m reading The Soulmate right now by Madeline Sheehan….so different for me and I’m really liking it!
Thanks all for the updates/reviews on Untamed. I was wondering what the thoughts were about this book as I can’t imagine falling for Griffin. He always seemed quite repulsive in Thoughtless etc. I liked the sister though so I’m gonna give it a go.
Reading Some Sort of Happy which is sweet. Had to give up on my happy hooker in Nine. I’m struggling to find my ‘just go with it’ vibe. It was all a bit bleh.
Think I need to stick with sweet, heartfelt and marginally believable for a bit.
Might try Poughkeepsie as I missed that last year.
Mine is pretty good so far, but I realized it’s yet another almost 500 page book. Tee hee!!! Which is good in regards to characters and story development.
I’m still in the “getting to know them/each other” stage.
I am book fickle today! I was ready to kick Gtiffin to the corner and read “The Man I Love.” But then I saw the blurb to 18. I need to read this one. Nice blurb jolt!
I’m reading 18 right now. Way different vibe than other student/teacher books. At 50%, sticking with it but also trying to figure out what to read next. Corrupt really put me on this creepy/power vibe and it’s hard to shake. I’m intrigued by The Man I Love. Can’t wait to read your review Maryse!
Paradise Road is a sequel to Paradise City….I haven’t read em but they sound intriguing.
Just saw MiF(Marked in Flesh) has a release date of March 8!!!!
Hey, Maryse you know what isn’t an “almost 500 page book”?
*snort*
*pops another red peanut in her mouth…*
π
Ooooh she has to cut herself for visions??!!!
This is the first time I read the blurb. It sounds… gooooooood.
‘kay I just one clicked it.
See? π

Ok, just “This is the first time I read the blurb.”<—- This. This made me laugh. Oh, my.
And now, Whoot!!!
But also nervous. I loved it (obviously) but I can see why some didn't, you know?
I’m good if it’s kinda dark… I’m good if it’s anything. I trust the writing, and if the writing is good, I’m in.
“…some didn’t” whaaaaat?
π
Now I don’t agree with them, but……
I’m so curious what some didn’t love it, for…?
*oooooomph*!!!!
I JUST HIT AN OMG PART in the book I’m reading. “The Man I Love”
Whoa.
*fingers crossed* hope WiR isn’t another ‘Illuminae’ for ya Maryse π
Tee hee!! Michelle. I haven’t given up on Illuminae. I wasn’t far enough into it to give-up officially…
I guess the format just threw me off somewhat… but too many love it for it not to be absolutely awesome.
Being to slow. To much day to day details. That Meg is to much of a Mary Sue to be interesting.
For me I was glued to every word, lol.
Different strokes…
I’m reading one off my TBR, Wild Reckless, which is good so far. Didn’t finish Land of the Beautiful Dead yet which I was loving…I needed something not so intense for today.
I never squeed over Queen of Shadows either – thought it was the best book in the series and Rowan is just *fans myself* MichelleS, have you read this series? If you want a new hunky fae to drool over, get on it!
*fingers double, triple crossed* if you delve back into Illuminae don’t tell me because I will have an ulcer worrying if you end up liking it! It was so SO awesome for me that…*shrugs* Fabi gets it at least π And WiR now…Bev what will we do if Maryse hates it?!
Boycott.
I just finished If Only in My Dreams by Keira Andrews.
That’s 3 books for me this weekend. Woot! (too bad only 1 was from my BEoYL list). Ha! I’m so ADD with my reading.
So, next…will it from my BEoYL list? I don’t know because I’m super tempted by The Last Hour of Gann which has been on my tbr “foheva”. I was almost decided on that one when Michelle had to go mention Wild Reckless. I’ve been meaning to read that one ” next” for so long that sometimes I forget I haven’t read it yet. ..and OmG, I just remembered that I recently downloaded a Scott Time Traveler and have been dying to try that out. I still can’t help but think of MichelleS every time I run across one of these.
I’m definitely starting another one tonight. Everyone went to sleep early, so I don’t want to turn the TV on and disturb anyone.
Oh my! Decisions, decisions…
Michelle…I will forever owe you for getting me to read Illuminae sooner rather than later. It instantly became my “All Time Favorite” book.
Please note those are pretty strong words from us who’ve read thousands of books in our lifetimes.
Yes, it is #1 in my “all time favorites” list. —Incomparable— Not even the classics measure up.
Whoa, fabi. Those are strong words.
I’ve noticed that in the top most of my favorites a few of the books have strong memories or feelings attached that keep them there.
I’m so close to a hundred books. *sigh* can’t believe how happy I am to just reach 100.
I have two I’m deciding between too. Unwrapped by Maisy Yates or My Fair Concubine by Jeannie Lin. Hmm. I like both covers. π
Boycott?!!!
*gasp*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*thud*
Pfft.
Pretty sure I have absolutely no followers on that. And I’d probably last a day at most.
Boycott – yeah for a day and then I would cave π
Whoa Fabi your all time fav! I’m not good at ranking…probably why I haven’t submitted a favorite list since it would have maybe 30 books for my ‘top 10’, a lot of ties π but Illuminae is definitely in there!
Wild Reckless I’m enjoying a lot and all the ‘feels’. The surprise with her ‘blank’ and ‘blank’ ick icky ickville!
I couldn’t narrow my favs down to 10 either. I sent in 24. I have 25 now. π
hmmm. Wild Reckless I don’t know what to make of your feedback. lol
I started the Scott Time Traveler last night but dnf’d it today. Started Dark Blood. I didn’t realize I was 2 books behind on the Carpathian series. Ugh. I didn’t even have it on my EoY list. *shakes head* Can’t keep up.
I worked too much this year. It really cut into my reading time. I already know my New Year’s Resolution is to work less and read more next year.
Michelle, send in your top 30. I’d love to see them.
Please Michelle!!!! DO IT!!! We want it… send 30 if you want, I’m good with that! π
Haha ok but I probably won’t have time to sit down and think about it for a bit with my work schedule. Top 30 – I could do that I think without stressing too much π
Yes! *dances little jig* I’ve been waiting forever for your list. You, you…hold out, you. π
Fabi & Michelle, mentioned it before but in Feb the 3rd Captive Prince trilogy will finally be released. I’m going to re read the first 2 in Jan. They are pretty intricate and a bit dark. I think you two would enjoy them. Think about it for br at least with #1? They are a bit $$ right now but maybe sale closer to release day.
Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat?
OMG, please send your top 30 Michelle. You know I’d go nuts for that list.
That’s it Fabi.
Definitely send it in Michelle.
*stomps in*
*grabs Manny and stomps into blankie fort*
*cuddles Manny and sobs*
HOLY MOLY WHAT IS MAKING TESSA SOB!!!!!
*scrolls up*
Why you got your stomping boots On Tessa?
It’s SAD! And and and, there’s going to be more sad! This series tricked me with giggles and fighting and and and, now sad! Sure, a few sniffles at the start, but I was prepared for those. Not this.
Yeah, it’s good though. Nola’s Own series by Jean Kelli. (Who has an awesome name due to my love of Gene Kelly.)
Gene Kelly!!!!
You know what it really was Maryse? She was completely overwhelmed that you one clicked WiR. And read the blurb. It was just too much excitement.
OH NO!!!!!!
I bet that’s it!!!!!
Update on The Man I Love…
she’s a remarkable writer. The story is amazing.. the first 20% I was getting used to all of the characters and the feel of it (and her writing was very eloquent, mature and kind of… BIG, and it was taking a bit for me to fit into the story) but now?
HOLY MOLY she is good. This is as real as it gets. I LOVE IT.
Can’t wait to read your review. Looks like a lot of people love it around here.
Bev, I have the first one in the top ten of my tbr so I’m definitely in for the BR.
*hands Tessa a Kleenex* THEN *hugs Tessa*
*blows nose* The book is back to not so sad now. Thank you Fabi. *hugs back*
*wipes off Manny* (‘lil sponge bath)
Here Tessa… just in case. π
Finished. He needs another sponge bath. It was sooooo good. Literally I didn’t just cry. I laughed out loud (which got me a few odd looks), felt angst, steamy hots, hug yourself in happiness, and even fear. At the end, though, I was giggling and hugging happy. Also, one of my favorite things to see, as the books progressed, the writing got better. I love seeing an author grow that way. Super huge recommendation.
*goes off to clean poor Manny*
Yay, Fabi. π
