Merry Christmas 🎄 🎁 my wonderful friends!!!! What a happy day I have lined up. 🙂 I’ll be opening and exchanging gifts today… (we do ours right before Christmas supper) and I’ll be having a wonderful family supper with some of my loved ones.
This time, I’m not hosting it but I’m bringing my yummy roasted Brussel Sprouts (a la “Ina Garten”) and I’m bringing a dutch apple pie! Okay, honestly? It’s a frozen one, not homemade, but it’s Marie Callender’s and it has to be baked… so sort of homemade, right? 🙂 ) And, holy moly, if you haven’t had it yet, it’s the best apple pie I’ve ever had. Seriously. I got one for Thanksgiving, and we all devoured it (even the non-pie lovers went crazy for it), so I’m bringing another one since it was such a hit. And a ton of whip cream! And yes, Keto or not, I will be having a tiny bite or three and indulge myself a little bit.
You guys… I feel so fortunate. More so every day. Every year gets better and better. And I especially feel fortunate because I have you guys, and our books, every single day.
I love this life dearly. And all of you. ❤️ Merry Christmas everyone!!!! 😀
Merry Christmas, Maryse! Hope you have a great day and wish I could have some of those brussels sprouts. I love Ina’s recipe!

Nollick Ghennal from the Isle of Man Maryse. I hope you had a peaceful and happy time with your loved ones. What will be my first 5 star read in 2020?? Great anticipation.
I’m excited too!!!
So I’ve been on a reading roll this last week. Yay, me! I’m going to finish up this current book and then probably watch some dramas. I’m a bit behind. I need to find a balance between the two. Reading again feels like coming home and reconnecting with a part of myself. But dramas opened up a whole new world for me filled with so many rich stories.
Ok, let’s play a tbr game. What would your tbr be if it looked like this?
1. Book you are feeling pulled to read.
2. Cover caught your eye.
3. Because of recs or squees.
4. 7th book in your library, carousel, list or whatever.
5. Newest book in your tbr.
Extra: give us a first line from one of them.
1. Book you are feeling pulled to read: The Wolf at the Door by Charlie Adhara.
2. Cover caught your eye: Echantee by Gita Trelease or Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim. I mean look at them.
3. Because of recs or squees: Carry the World by Susan Fanetti, of course. Both a Jan and a Maryse rec and I love an atypical historical time period or place.
4. 7th book in your library, carousel, list or whatever: I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver. It is a subject matter I hear about but have no insight into. One of the beautiful things about books, isn’t it?
5. Newest book in your tbr: I have two. Oh best of year list get me every time. The Widow of Rose House by Diana Biller and Kiss and Cry by Mina V. Esguerra.
Extra: give us a first line from one of them:
“Yves Rencourt, the chandler’s apprentice, had lost his wig.”—-Echantee by Gita Trelease
Hmm, makes a good looking list.
Ok, now time to start some laundry and heat up some left overs and curl up with a show. Give my reading brain a bit of a rest.
Okay I’ll play!! 🙂
Ok, let’s play a tbr game. What would your tbr be if it looked like this?
1. Book you are feeling pulled to read: REGRETTING YOU by Colleen Hoover. I was already supposed to start but I underestimated how much time and energy Holiday prep and events were going to take away from my reading… but I AM DYING to start.
2. Cover caught your eye. Mine by Courtney Cole
3. Because of recs or squees: Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. I even bought it in audiobook too.
4. 7th book in your library, carousel, list or whatever. Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle (I want to read it big time!!)
5. Newest book in your tbr. Maybe not newest but recent… (I keep pulling them back up my TBR list carousel): All My Life by Prescott Lane & The Parallel Duet by Elizabeth O’Rourke
Extra: give us a first line from one of them.
“I wonder if humans are the only living creatures that ever feel hollow inside.”
Hoover, Colleen. Regretting You (p. 1). Kindle Edition.
I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas!!
