One of the books (#2) in this series caught my eye, yesterday when I was downloading a different book from this author’s “Colorado series”.
The part that caught my eye in this series was this:
“… she meets sinister, scarred, scarily attractive security specialist, Joe Callahan…”

Ohhhhh he sounds like Z from the BDB series!! Scarred, a tortured past and a heartbreaker. Yesssss!! Another jackpot! I HAD to read this. So I downloaded it. And then, it almost seemed as if my excited energy called to a few other fellow bookreaders, that very same day, because I received these recommendations (and they didn’t even know I had already looked into this book earlier!):

Only you could get a super anal person like me to read the second book in a series before the first, but I am so glad I did. 64% in and I LOVE Joe! Kristen Ashley is one of my new favorite authors. Thanks for introducing me to her. I have been addicted to your site for about two years and you have yet to steer me wrong. I was kinda afraid making the jump from paranormal books to rock stars and doms, but WOW (Fifty? Speechless. Never thought I would read a book like that, let alone love it!). I do think it is the whole Alpha thing. Thanks again for running this site and updating it so frequently. I get ALL my book recommendations from you.

I know how you feel. I was concerned about my switch from Paranormal to “humans” but I have come to realize, what I like is bad-boys and Alphas – so whether they be vamp, werewolf, fallen angel or hot bad-ass rocker/bounty hunter/body guard/tattooed bad-boy, I’m in.

Oh and I’m at 80% of Joe’s book and OMG I adore him. He was so hard to deal with, but I loved that about him, and even more so when he decided to stake his claim. When that man decides something is his… watch out!! I LOVE his family!
Oh oh!! And Colt’s grin when he saw all his “girls” all piled in bed with him, cuddled up. So sweet, and so sad but awwwwwwwwwwwwwww – sooooo good!
Am starting this one tonight….by the sounds of it, it’s a good thing it’s Sunday tomorrow, as have a feeling I’ll be reading again all night LOL!!! This author is spot on with her main male characters I’ve loved them all and judging by your comments another name is making his way onto THE (very long) list… ;0) Nx

How’re you enjoying the ‘Burg? Wait until #2. It’s the only book I’ve read in that series, but it was VERY excellent. LOL!
I read these in order as am a bit weird like that, I HAVE to!! LOL!! I have now read all 3 (think I have now completely mastered the art of juggling work, 2 kids and devouring all the books you recommend, LOL)!! I got to say the 2nd one was my favorite by a mile and OMG Joe has got to be the most exciting character out of them all in every way possible no question about it. I think you are spot on with the likeness of Z which I got too and I think that is maybe why Joe got to me as Z was my favorite BDB character! My only (very small) problem with the Burg series is the predictability of the shape of the story and and a few weak moments but saying that I thoroughly enjoyed them. Oh and Joe is at the top of my Christmas wish list, wouldn’t mind waking up to him on Christmas morning ;0) LOL…Nx
LOL! Yup. Joe is sort of my favorite. I can’t let go of Tate though. He’s still my #1 ’cause I was sooooo needing to read an “alpha male like him” type of book, and he was the first in a long time 😉
Oooooo I’m excited about book #2. I needed more KA & wasn’t going to read this series for an inane reason (I didn’t like Knight as much as I’d have liked, so I have PTSD despite a PLETHORA of other 5-star KA books).
Anyway … I’m reading book 1 now– my head might explode if I read the 2nd book in a series first! 😀

I must admit I love Kristen Ashley. She is one of my favorite authors due to your recommendations. I started with the Rock Chicks about six weeks ago. I have finished them went on to Dream Man Series, Chaos series,Colorado Mountain Series and now I just started my Fourth book in the Burg series. I love every single book. omg do I love these books. They have everything I enjoy when I read. Thanks so much for your blog and updates given us alpha male lovers a treat when you recommendations are on point…
You have really tempted me with At Peace. Am I understanding right that it can be read as a stand alone and out of order?
Oh, At Peace was my first KA!
I think I stayed up all night. I still remember that opening scene when she goes to confront her new neighbor. And the nickname he gave her, I liked it, though many did not, lol.
Fabi – this whole series is full of stand alones – each one a new couple, but all in the same town and know each other some way – you can read one or all. I liked this series even better than the Colorado series or Rock Chicks.
I have over an hour drive to commute each day so I’ve started listening to the Burg series and I’ve loved it! I’ve enjoyed something about each of the stories and/or characters, but I think At Peace has been my favorite or maybe For You. Can’t decide between Colt or Joe. KA sure knows how to write an alpha that can be bad ass one minute then protective family man the next and make both super sexy. Definitely looking forward to the next in this series!
Need to read this series! I love KA so its a must. I think I’ll start with At Peace though and then read the rest. I am curious about Joe.
I just listened to the 3rd book, Golden Trail, in this series and really enjoyed it!! I had no idea that it was part of a series! Will have to check out the others!!!
YES!!!! I LOVE this series so much. #2 (Sweet Dreams) is my favorite.
Will check that one out!!! I listened to the audible version and it was 21hrs long… I was a little worried about the length because I usually fast forward them, but this one had me listening to the end!!! Brian Pallino was the narrator and did an awesome job!!!
