Book Review – Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

To give you an idea of how I was feeling going into this book, here is a quick snippet from my Facebook page:

“OMG my jaw hurts so bad from constantly clenching my teeth while reading those last two books. And I still have a 3rd to go. I think I need to add aspirin to my reading table along with that box of crying kleenex…”

I know… it took me awhile to write this one, huh? Considering I finished itΒ last Monday. This was another one of those “I need time to get over it” kind of series. Books that make you feel that way are always good but after the whirlwind Memorial Day weekend I spent with the Hunger Games crew, I was *spent*. read more

Book Review – Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games)
Oh.Β My. Goodness.Β This book was something else. Whoa…. Wow! I feel like I’ve literally beenΒ dragged through… Wait. Haven’t I said this before? Yes. Yes I have. And I’m right back where I started, but so much further ahead.

The series, so far, in a word? Relentless. Terrifying. Agonizing. Both heartening and disheartening. Okay, it’s impossible to keep it to one word, but you get the picture. Your reading experience will fluctuateΒ with feelings of anger at the corruption and lessonsΒ in futility. From hopelessness and despair, to moments of elation and encouragement. Sadness from loss, toΒ beauty in theΒ stolen moments of tenderness and bonding. And even an occasional chuckle here and there to lighten the mood. But whatever is happening,Β I can assure you… you will be feeling every moment. Oh! Here’s a word that just popped into my head that describes this series for me, so far. Awakening. read more

What I Am Reading Today – The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I hadΒ all intentions last night to write Cezar’s review (Alexandra Ivy’s Darkness Revealed), and of course, I still fully intend to (btw – quick review – it’s “good-ish”, but far from a favorite).
