Following my heart, one book at a time...
The Boots My Mother Gave Me
Well… I went off the “track” again. I actually backtracked to one of my older TBR lists and pulled out a book that I had a feeling would be “rich” in heart and content. I’ve had this one for what seems like forever now, have had some solid recommendations for it, and I gotta say folks, the writing, and the heartfelt thought processes are absolutely in tune with that depth that I’m looking for. I haven’t read the synopsis so I have no real clue what I’m in for.
Okay, so I’m doing something different here. I’ve taken a picture of my current TBR (to be read) list (plus 3 ARCS not pictured).
Now you guys know me… I’m BIG on changing my mind depending on my reading mood, so this is not necessarily accurate, or in the right order (and is totally subject to change). BUT as of right now, these are the books that are taunting me the most (those, and about 20 others not pictured *sigh* – for example… a few rock star books, an urban fantasy series or two… you get the picture 😉 ). Oh well. Reading rocks!!! Let’s see what I can read out of this lot.
VAIN
I’m loving this one guys!! So far, an all-around beautiful story with a wonderful attention to detail. I’m at 50% and it’s progressing just perfectly for me. Not too fast and tugs at my heart (with gentle tenderness and also in potential love).
I just had to let you guys know, I think this one is worth reading together. I’m certain I’m still going to love it as much if not more by the end.
I’m scared I’m gonna cry, though. I can’t wait to get home from work to finish it. You guys were right with this recommendation! Heartfelt and refreshing.
Here’s an exclusive teaser for what I’m currently reading (Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy #1)! Karina Halle has just written a gritty romantic suspense story (should be available this weekend), and when I saw her hero (“Camden”), I… well. 
Just LOOK at him!! You all KNOW he’s right up my hero alley. *swooooooon* I can’t wait to start… but first. I gotta tease! Karina told me it was a “… very sexy excerpt…a scene of him dressing her.”
Consequences
Okay so once upon a time (last year) I started reading a book called Consequences by Aleatha Romig. And it was right up my alley. Dark, kidnapping, Stolkholm syndrome-y, the works. ‘Cept… I got to 30-something percent and I panicked. Especially after hearing that there was a part I was coming up to that was realllllly “eeeeeeeeeep-worthy” and would make me hate him even more than I already did.
I didn’t want to know, and I put my book in the freezer. Well. No ’cause it’s on my iPad, and it woulda broke, but you know… 😉 I ran away from it, scrolled it down my TBR list (but kept it on there) and moved onto “lighter” reads. It sat there, taunting me to pick it back up. My fellow readers continued reading without me, and there was a reader-frenzy!! So many of you LOVED it (while simultaneously hating… it. Stuff. Parts. Him? Definitely hated him). But you encouraged me to continue. Actually more like taunted me. Just like the book, and it’s mysterious eerie cover and strange hold on me… taunting and tempting me to finish it.
