I have just finished Kerrelyn Spark’s “The Undead Next Door” and will be reviewing that shortly. Tonight, I will have the pleasure of starting the next book in the series that concentrates on Ian, called: “All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire”.

Latest Vampire Diaries Show News:
While we are all eagerly anticipating the upcoming series, I thought I would keep myself (and all of you) informed on the latest updates. So far, this is what I have gathered:
- It will be featured on the CW (perhaps as soon as this fall!)
- DAMON will be played by Ian Somerhalder GOOD choice!! While I read the series, I imagined Damon to look like “Jason Behr” (in his representation of Varek – the bad guy in ‘Skinwalkers”). Ian Somerhalder was the gorgeous character “Boone” in Lost’s first season.
- STEFAN will be played by Paul Wesleywho appeared on shows such as “Everwood” & “Fallen”. While I am not too familiar with this actor, he does have a sweet face. I was imagining someone more along the lines of James Marsden (as physically, at least, he seems to match the character description).
- ELENA will be played by Nina Dobrev(she was originally from Degrassi: The Next Generation). While she is definitely pretty enough, I was actually thinking she’d be blonder…
- BONNIE will be played by Katerina Graham(definitely beautiful but waaaiiiit a minute! I thought she was supposed to be a curly haired redhead!)
- MATT Honeycutt (aka “Mutt”) will be played by Zach Roerig. Yup! That works for me!
- CAROLINE will be Candice Accola (works for me too!)
- TYLER will be played by Michael Trevino (hey I remember him! He was Ozzie from updated version of 90210)
- JEREMY GILBERT (not a character I’m familiar with in the books) but in the series is Elena’s brother and will be played by Steven R. McQueen
- Matt’s sister will be played by Kayla Ewell (wow she’d make a wonderful Meredith). She used to be on Entourage.
While I am basing my own judgements of these selections on the books’ physical descriptions alone, we all know that a good actor can change our mind quickly, and CAN become the perfect representation of a character. I can’t wait to see these guys in action!
I have found a few very interesting reviews of the script, and have linked them for you here. It makes for some interesting reading, however, overall it appears the TV series will stray from the original books (added characters, different backgrounds, etc…). These discussions and reviews may contain spoilers so go at your own risk:
Book Review – Be Still My Vampire Heart by Kerrelyn Sparks
Be Still My Vampire Heart (Love at Stake, Book 3)
Upon completion of book #3, I realized that this series is of a similar style to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward. The series follows the lives of a group of vampires, and human characters, allowing the familiar characters to appear and interact with each other throughout each novel. However, each book follows a particular storyline geared towards a new specific couple (or potential couple). While I do enjoy this style, I find that when I have become attached to a particular character (or set of characters) I prefer to follow their specific adventures closely throughout future installments.
Book Review – How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire (Love at Stake, Book 1)
Now this is more like it! I started with Book #2 (which was good, but not great). Book number one (this one), however, was hard for me to put down. I laughed a ton, and found the romance was quite intense. Roman Draganesti is the perfect vampire! Handsome, intelligent, rich, spiritual (as a human, he was a Monk) and completely in touch with his emotions.
I admit, like most books of the genre, some may find them easily predictable. They frequently follow a typical story format (and even have similar characters), but it is the depth of emotional connection between the characters, and the humorous dialogue that sets each of them apart. This one, in my opinion had that depth.
IFC Channel will be airing the new “Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter” tv series!
I was wondering when a movie would be produced from this series, and it looks like it has captured the attention of Lionsgate (in the form of a TV series)!
The show will be produced by Lionsgate and After Dark Films and adapted by Glen Morgan (“X-Files” &”Final Destination”) who will also be the executive producer. Production will begin this summer, and it looks like they will somewhat accomodate the “provocative and erotic nature” of the novels.
