Let it be Me by Toni Aleo <— BLAST FROM OUR BOOK PAST!! Jen on my Facebook page recommended this one wholeheartedly!
She wrote:
Jen: You really should read Let it be Me by Toni Aleo. This story will take you on an emotional journey as you witness the harsh reality of what’s it’s like to be in an abusive relationship and mindset that goes through woman who live with domestic violence.
It’s raw, real and gritty and the way the book is written you feel like you are a fly on wall watching everything happen. A friend who is right there listening Violet tell you what’s going through her mind as it all plays out and the courage she shows us on her journey.
Really recommend this for anyone who has ever been or even those who have never lived with domestic violence.
I’ll show you part of the prologue:
“I’m going to fight back. I have to or he may very well kill me. Why am I doing this now you may ask?
Why hadn’t I done this way before I married him, lost a child, and became so weak that I hate myself?
Well, Get a blanket and maybe a glass of wine, you’re going to need it, because my story isn’t a happy one, well no, I take that back. It can be happy, I can be happy; I just have to get there. I have to fight for it. So sit back and let me explain how the fight was woken inside me.”
