“My favorite story has to be from a book signing after party. I was having the coolest, most enthusiastic conversation with a reader who had no idea who I was. She was telling me that I needed to read the latest Christina Lauren book and that I should one-click all of Kylie Scott’s books and then she said, “Oh my god, you have to read Sweet Thing by um…” and I said, “Renée Carlino?”  “Yes!” she said. I just hugged her and told her I was Renée and then I said,  “I’m really glad you liked it because it would have been a little uncomfortable if you started trash talking it to me.”

We’re here to celebrate the release of One Kiss with a Rock Star —and to give you guys the inside scoop. People ask us how we come up with our ideas or how we think up some STEAMY scenes. As blogger Gemma said about us, “I’ve come to the conclusions that they just have incredibly dirty minds lol?!!”

Which, yes. True.

But we also have a secret weapon, which is our secret tumblr. We have PUBLIC tumblrs (here and here) where we share some pretty and mildly dirty things we find. But in our PRIVATE tumblr—well, things heat up. We discuss story ideas, plot… and even positions, all with visual aids.

There was also a link to a Rolling Stones article The Tragedy of Britney Spears, which said, “…she is intelligent enough to understand what the world wanted of her: that she was created as a virgin to be deflowered before us, for our amusement and titillation. She is not ashamed of her new persona — she wants us to know what we did to her.”

Shari posted them in our secret tumblr, along with the note:

I kinda want to write a pop-princess-turned-secret-rock-misfit Rapunzel where she dismantles her own tower bare-handed & bleeding and then the hero snatches her out of the wreckage, only he’s there to expose her.

And so, Madeline Fox was born. Our idea evolved from there. We paired Madeline with broody grunge rocker Krist Mellas from our Half-Life series, because opposites attract, baby. They also combust <3

And it’s so much fun to watch…
