Happy Tuesday new release day!! Almost 70 new books on today’s list! 😀
My blurb jolts of the day? Ghost on the Shore (Blackbird Series Book 3) (can be read as a standalone! She’s got the perfect life… but it’s all wrong.) People Like Her: A Novel (psych-thriller! She’s a famous influencer, but her husband is skeptical of her, and she’s got an obsessive follower that hates her!), Repeat Offender (Souls Chapel Revenants MC Book 1) (she once dismissed him as boring, until she sees him doing something illegal and then he kidnaps her!) and The Way the Story Goes (he’s her noisy neighbor and she’s trying to write a book… “Before long, the next victim in her story starts to bear an uncanny resemblance to the contractor next door...” haha!!)

Good Morning! I can’t wait to start Roommate this week!
Me too! I’m reading Roan Parrish’s Better Than People (M/M). It is was on some best of 2020 lists. It is very sweet and heart warming.
Thanks for the tip! I’m not familiar but I’ll look it up.
Oh I have that. Just loved the cover.
Yes that one sounds EXCELLENT!!!
I just finished Roommate. It’s an easy read with a very sweet couple 😉
YAY!! Thank you for the feedback, Harper. 🙂
ooooo….Jennifer Probst is one of my fav😍
YEAH!!! I’ve read and loved her romance in the past. If you read it, let me know what you think. 😀
I have People Like Her. I’m in a couple BOTM groups, which is what I got it through, and it didn’t get high praises. Most all said it wasn’t very “thriller like” except for a weird part at the end. I’m not completely deterred from reading it anyway, but I know a little more of what to expect. But, The Push, which was on your list last week, people are going nuts over. It apparently sold out at BOTM and they have to restock. Some said it reminds them of Verity or Baby Teeth, which I haven’t read, but have heard many good things. I couldn’t resist even though I didn’t have it in my box and got it from Amazon. It will arrive today. The Push and The Wife Upstairs are getting such awesome praise, 1 of those will be my next read.
I’m reading The Survivors now and really into it so far.
I’ve been resisting buying Kindle books lately and going old school. You pay about the same amount and besides sharing bonus, I read it once and can resale for close to what I paid or at least get something back so I feel like I’m bargain shopping. Lol!
And I LOVE creepy kid psych-thrillers so much. OH MY!! I NEED IT!!!
That totally makes sense for paper books, Tasha! I just love having all my options in one Kindle so no matter where I am, I can pick and choose and don’t have to limit how many books I take with me.
Yeah I’m like that too, Maryse. If I’m away somewhere, having my kindle with me gives me my whole library of books and I can pick and choose and don’t have to drag a pile of books with me in my suitcase. I take my kindle with me almost everywhere 😀 You never know when you’ll have a few minutes downtime and can get in a quick read. I don’t take it to work though LOL.
😂🤣
I feel the same way. I can download my library books to my kobo while I’m travelling in remote places…it’s so wonderful, and frankly a little surreal.
I used to too! Having so many options makes it harder for me to decide. Like, it’s a real issue in many areas. For example, if I walk into a small boutique, I can find a super cute outfit or 2. Happily, easily, sometimes with the help of the nice lady that works there. If I walk into TJ Max, I will spin around in a dizzying circle, cry that there’s too much or I can’t find anything, stray off to other sections of the store wondering if something over there is on a future list of needs or grab something I don’t need either and maybe not even have what I went for in the 1st place.
This simplifies. I’m not a big DNF’r so if I start it and it grabs me, I’ll finish it. If it’s taking a while, I may start another. But I’m home more than not and take my book in a book sleeve when I do go out. And, always have my kindle app on my phone just in case. There’s something freeing about simplicity. In one area of my life at least. Don’t get me wrong, still read on my kindle too!
Bad news in our province. As covid rates increase, we are now in lockdown for at least a month…many expect this to last longer as the winter months are traditionally problematic & hospital beds are full at the best times.
I’m being selfish and thinking about myself. I had an airbnb booked for February & March to hang out with my grandson and his mom & dad. I was really looking forward to a baby joy during covid. The good news is that my daughter is doing well after a rough pregnancy & first 6 months. Harumph…
Oh no, sorry to hear that Mony! Does that mean everything is closing up again? That has to be so rough on businesses and income for people.
I’m glad your daughter and grand baby are doing well.
Yes, only essential services and travel.
It’s pretty strict. Very rough on the economy. But apparently in 5 provincial regions, ICU beds are getting full from covid. Doctors are warning about getting to the point where they must triage and not able to provide care to some…as we’ve seen another countries… Tough times.
That’s terrible. I rarely follow the news anymore and it’s surprising still to me when I do hear how bad it is elsewhere. Not that we don’t have cases here, I hear about people who’ve had it all the time, but our hospital isn’t overwhelmed. Small town, I suppose.
Omg!!! Beartown is coming to HBO Fevruary 22nd! I can’t wait, I can’t wait! *happy dance*
I’m gonna read book 2 early next month.

Well howdy from Texas y’all!
Three things:
1.) I am ALIVE and have survived 2020 and Covid. It was a CRAZY year (changed jobs and so so much more).
2.) My taste in books hasn’t changed one bit. I still love Epic Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal, Historical Romance, and then I like to throw in others just for fun.
3.) I have missed you all terribly. I feel horrible for having stayed away for so long. I will try to “catch myself up”. I just want to know that all my book buddies have survived 2020. Mark yourselves safe!
I saw my best of 2019 list and it inspired me to make a best of 2020 list. I read a lot of books, but these are the ones I remember:
The Life You Stole Books 1 & 2 – Jewel E Ann
Jewel E Ann has become a one-click author for me. I have loved everything she writes.
House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City Book 1)
A Kingdon of Flesh and Fire Sarah J. Maas
Sarah J Maas is a favorite of mine. I love this new series as much as her others. She just really delivers for fans of fantasy.
The Magicsmith series (3 books) LR Braden
So much to love here if you are a fan of urban fantasy.
The Great Alone, Kristin Hannah
Wanted to read this based on feedback from others. It didn’t disappoint. I still remember it, and that’s always a good thing. I don’t read that much contemporary or women’s fiction, but this was a good one.
Smoke Bitten, Patricia Briggs (Mercedes Thompson Book 12)
When is Mercy not going to make my list? Hopefully never. This series is still going strong. My all time favorite Urban Fantasy series.
Golden Eagle (Sons of Rome 4), Lauren Gilley
This is such a great series. If you love paranormal, you have got to read this series. The characters, the writing… just wow.
From Blood & Ash , Jennifer Armentrout
And
Wicked Trilogy, Jennifer Armentrout
I needed A LOT of fantasy to get through 2020. Ms Armentrout always delivers.
The Atlantis World (Origins Mystery) AG Riddlle
This has been on my TBR list for so long. With all out “down time’ in 2020, I decided to get to it. I read the first two in the trilogy. I WILL read the last book. It is just a commitment.
Brothersong, TJ Klune
Yay! TJ Klune and revisiting the Bennets…. So it was great for me. Nothing will come close to Wolfsong for me, but I love where the story went and revisiting old friends.
Hell Theory 1 and 2, Lauren Gilley
This woman can write. I am such a huge fan. One click.
Where the Crawdads Sing, Delia Owens
Every year I have that ONE BOOK that everyone has read (but me) and I finally get around to it late in the year. This was it. It was soooooo good. It reminds me that I need to get out of my comfort zone more often.

Welcome back, MichelleS! I’ve been craving a good fantasy for a while now, but have wanted to catch up on my closest tbr pile first. That pull though. This list is really helpful for me! I read Jen Armentrout’s and SJM as well, loved them!
Welcome back Michelle! I read The Great Alone too and loved it! Really loved the audio!
Great timing. Last night I was asking my friends about the Sons of Rome series by Lauren Gilley…it looks like an amazing series.
I was a bit daunted by the length of her books…Kindle Edition, 662 pages?
But now I’m definitely going to start reading the series and see how it goes…
Thanks for the nudge Michelle!
(will also look at the other books…some look like what I’ve been trying to find lately)
OH YAY for this list, MichelleS!!!!! I will be turning it into its own dedicated post soon. 🙂
And welcome back! It’s been a crazy year, and I hope this year picks up wonderfully for all of us (and that you come back again).
FLT- (Prologue) “She could—almost— have been one of The Survivors.”
(Chapter 1) “Kieran hoped the numbness would set in soon.” The Survivors by Jane Harper
Agh…what happens next??? yikes…better read the book.
My FLT seem to be along the same theme… 🙂

She was willing to die, of course, but she had not planned to do it so soon, or in such a prolonged and uncomfortable fashion, or at the hands of her own countrymen.
The Spymaster’s Lady. Joanna Bourne.
I liked this book and whole series. Enjoy!
I’m only at 28% of last week’s FLT book! I’ve been too tired to read at night!
Hey Michelle *waves* Nice to see you popping in. I’ve read and loved some of your books too. I’m a big Mercy Thompson fan as well.

Captain Hayden St John stood beneath the overhanging eaves of the ugly Parramatta prison block and watched the matron and a male guard drag the woman toward him through the teeming rain.
from Night in Eden by Candice Proctor. A female convict is assigned to a grieving widower with a young baby. It’s a bit angsty but I’m liking it so far. Good writing. My first book by this author.
ooh…will look at that one…I like that it’s in AUS as I don’t know much about their history
I’m Australian and have read a couple of books like this recently. The first white settlement here was a penal colony for English criminals, although some of them had only committed petty crimes like stealing bread. So there was an interesting mix of soldiers and convicts and a few free settlers. The book seems fairly historically accurate and is well-written. I’ve nearly finished this one now and want to read more by this writer.
I don’t think you’ll see this – but thank you!
