*Eeep!!* I have so been waiting on House of Sky and Breath for so long and my preorder has arrived! But, I’m resisting jumping into it just yet bc I want to finish what I started last month first.
I’m in an aggravated mood as finally, after 2 years, I’ve decided to buckle down and get all the photos off my phone. I am tech challenged, but I found a step by step that seemed easy enough. And I now have a MacBook so they should work well together, right? No. I tried to put like 14,000-16,000 on an external hard drive (I barely know what these are, but alas) and to no avail, it kept giving me error codes for a number of images and just won’t move on. I loathe how complicated an easy task should be.
Why do you want to get all your photos off of your phone? I like your OCD!!! 😀
But you always knew that. 😉
Because I only have like 40GB left of storage and my pics take up 70GB. And I want to make room to take more, of course. I can’t just delete them, bc then I’ll have nothing of J’s 2-3 years and many more memories. I don’t do physical copies. I wish it wasn’t such a challenge when I do go for it. I figured with a Mac, since I have apple, it would be a smoother process. I’ll probably just have to call support honestly, which I’ve never done. Lol. But, I’m fixated on it and won’t rest until it’s complete.
EEEP from me too! I love Sarah J Maas, and I cannot wait to devour this book and get back to this world. Just what I needed today!
I absolutely LOVE Sarah J Maas! I haven’t started the new series yet because it’s usually a year (or a little more) in-between releases, but I’ve heard such great things about this new series that I may just have to jump in!
I’ve got a ton of pictures on my phone too. My collection dates back to 2008. :-/ I’ve done some deleting over the years, but that’s about it. Like you, I’m running out of storage so I need to make that a project for myself, but anything techy gives me anxiety. LOL
Wow! I don’t think I even had a smartphone in 2008. I can’t imagine how much you’ve got on there! I try to do it more frequently, a couple times a year, more in the last 7 years or so and now that phones have more storage, I’ve been slacking and it gives me major anxiety seeing that number. I think it starts to make my phone act up some too, so I really, really need a clean slate. And never once has the tech side of it been easy. Why?? Why do they make it so hard? 😅
Probably a good thing you waited on the series bc honestly, I only remembered vague details. But I recently saw a recap all written up and holy cow did I forget a lot and all the names and world building stuff had me feeling a little lost. I’m really hoping once I start into it, it’ll all flow smoothly.
I just read a quick ROM-COM, called “Bad Cruz”, by LJ Shen. It was just what I needed (a palate cleanse). It had lots of snarky, witty banter, a second-chance romance, small town, opposites attract, known-each-other-since-toddlers, you dated my best friend in HS vibes, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now, for something more serious…
Those books are soooooo perfect after a heavy, intense book/series. Thanks for the rec! I’m adding it to my “palate cleanse” list.
And “palate cleanse” is a perfect way of describing it! 🙂
“YAY US!! In books…. always and only in books!!” – oh boy, isn’t THAT the truth. I am amazed sometimes what I find attractive in a man in books, versus what I would put up with in real life. Do these type of men really exist, I wonder? I’m not sure I have EVER met a real “alpha” type man.
OMG TRUTH! I often find myself asking that question of “do men like this really exist?” But like you, I then ask myself, “would I really put up with this crap in real life?” and the truth is, I don’t really know. I mean, I’ve met so many hot “alpha” book boyfriends over the years, but I think (for me) what makes them so irresistible is when we get to see the vulnerability/sensitivity/loving side of them come out. In real life, those things are hard to find in what we would consider “alpha” men. Most of them choke on their own pride. At least that’s what I’ve personally observed. I’m sure there are some out there, they’re probably just far and few in between. 🙁
You took the words right out of my mouth, Cristina!!!
I’m sure they exists. As my colleague tells me (and reminds me) we have to kiss a lot of frogs first. Ugh. I like frogs but not to kiss. Hahaha!!
Ha ha. Yeah, only in books LOL. I’ve been very happily married to a definite beta for quite a few years now, but in my books I do love me an alpha male. They’ve gotta have their nice, tender side too though. Probably hard to find one like that IRL as you say, Cristina. Yeah I’m happy with my book boyfriends even if I know that type is probably rare as a unicorn 😀
Some books I read lately…
Homecoming King by Penny Reid- Slow burn romance. MCs are low key, which I appreciated. Including Rex, an alpha star footballer who reflects before taking steps with bartender Abby. 4.5★
Vampire Love by Marian Tee – A nice mix of PNR & erotica. Well done vampire world. If erotica not your thing, might still enjoy great vampire story. 4.5★
The Girl in 6E by A.R. Torre- Well done unique story about cam-sex worker with a lust to kill & a desire to change. Loved it! -it was a binger 🙂 4.5★
Act Your Age by Eve Dangerfield.🔥 Well done, cleverly written, hot hot hot, emotional, sometimes quirky erotica. 5★
Love Story by Erich Segal – Written in 1970 & made into movie. Great pithy writing by Segal. Down to earth romance with prep boy from Harvard Law & witty snarky young woman from Radcliffe. Surprisingly not dated at all. 4★
Thanks for the recommendations! 🙂
Welcome Christina. Hope you find one you like!
Going to look perfect on tomorrow’s Friday Finds list!! Thank you Mony!!!
🙂
Oops…forgot this one
Just Neighbours (Charity Ferrell)-This story was much more than I expected. Not just hot dirty-talking cop, quirky banter, sexy times (which were great 😉). But cut above. Depth, well paced, nuanced, refreshing dialogue and wonderful character growth. Loved it! 4.5★
I finished a book! Hooray, hooray, I finished a book. Lol! I finished Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson and I really loved it. It’s been some time since I read something more heartfelt and emotional and it was really well written and I was more than invested in the story and journey of the characters.
Now, to finish the other one I started at the same time that I was really invested in as well, or a palate cleanser of a lighter read. 🤔
*Bc now isn’t a good time to start a hefty fantasy, we’re going on a little weekend getaway trip to a waterpark where I’ll have to be active, lol.
I just finished The Second Life of Mirielle West by Amanda Skenandore. Mirielle is a wealthy California socialite and wife of a 1920’s silent film star that is diagnosed with leprosy and is forced into quarantine in Carville, Louisiana. (While the story is fiction, Carville was an actual place in the US where lepers were sent, until it closed in 1999). It wasn’t really a story about the 1920’s, but about the day-to-day life of living in the colony, the stigma, how it affected their families, the friendships that are made, and the search for a cure. This is a 5⭐️ page turner, plus it’s KU. Mirielle is not very likable in the first part of the book, but don’t give up on her! Every time I sat this book down, I was quickly picking it back up.
I have so many pics on my phone. My hubs upgraded our cloud. I think it’s like 3 bucks a month and now I don’t think about storage at all. And with my phone I’m always taking random screenshots. So many stupid non pics and i don’t even care!!!!!!
This is exactlywqhat my photo reel looks like. Just anything and everything and I rarely delete anything. I think mine is also $2.99 a month and I have stuff starting from back in 2014.
My Mom does this, she just started a couple years ago. I refuse to pay for it, I feel like it’s a trap. Lol
